He's got to be quick, get his bat on the ball, but just, you know, again, luck of the bounce. If that went between the first baseman and second baseman would have been a base hit, but um they took a bounce right up into the first base's gloves to make it an easy play >> as Ian McCoy bats for the second time and takes a strike. >> Oh, and one is swung on and missed. >> A little bit off speed there. Yeah, >> you know, again, smart pitching inside on the first pitch, low and away on the second pitch. Got some swinging >> and McCoy lines it into center field. A base hit. >> Fell down 0 and two, but stayed alive. >> And a nice piece of hitting there. >> Second hit for Ashland comes from your nine-hole hitter. >> Yeah, fast ball uh down the lower end of the plate and McCory just went down and got it.
So, thank you. Thank you, Dr. Smith. Let me just get back to the agenda here. Um so, at this time, do I have any questions or comments from board members on 7.1 through 7.7 anything under the superintendent's report?
Any questions? We know you'll be busy, so thank you. And thank you for always being so conscious of the budget. Thank you. Thanks, John. All right. Next, new business resolution for use of school district logo. Yeah, I'll be very brief. Um, we were approached uh actually Dr. Smith specifically was approached by the Orland Park um village uh specifically the police department. Um, they are starting to uh logo uh if you will their their vehicles um and they would like to um honor Samber High School by including their logo on one of their police vehicles. We view this as a continued positive relationship with the Orland Park village. Um and uh we hope it's the SRO's vehicle right that that that gets it because that'd be kind of cool. But uh but it's something that we think is a like I said a continued good partnership with Orland.
He left. >> Oh, you left. That's great. Um, sure. I'll just say hi. The I I just jumped on tonight because I got that peer review that you guys got I don't know, four hours ago. So, I thought instead of just continuing it would it'd be good just to give you guys an update. So, whatever you'd like to cover, we're happy to cover. And our plan was George got that. George is going to prepare the response and we'll get to work on it. So, that's that. >> Sounds like we need a continuence. >> Yeah, that'd be great. >> Is there a motion for a continuence until the 14th? >> Second. >> Someone has to actually make the motion, but I appreciate how quick that was. >> Uh, I'm looking at you, Scott. You're getting so good at it. Come on. You got this. >> I motion to continue 55 kilnav special permit and site review.
>> Yeah, it would have been ball four anyway. >> Our coach is coming out to talk to Price. >> Second base runner of the inning. >> I'd be shocked if he pulls him. I He's still throwing with great velocity and great control. will probably just >> talk to him about the Ashlin bench who are, you know, screaming right right at his delivery. >> Yeah, it's still a five run lead. He hasn't even given up a run in this inning. He is approaching 90 pitches on the afternoon. >> Clark will dig in. Seven hole 0 for two. A big chance here. Drive in Shrivever. Couple of runners on. We'll see if Connory takes off for second to get another underscore position at strike one. >> I wouldn't be surprised if Connor was sent here >> cuz if a hit comes be able to get two runs.
Just >> waiting for it. So, back to the top of the lineup. Ollie Laro digging. He's 0 for one, but he walked last time and started the string of good at bats against Price >> back in the third. >> And he'll take a strike. >> Nothing and one. Seen a bit inside there. >> Did seem a little bit inside. I want to check all these like quality of bat numbers. He seems like he's always takes the pitcher deep into the count. >> He definitely does. is up, you know, 6 7 8 9 10 swings and then doing things like this, taking timeouts and >> messing with the pitcher's head a little bit. He's a He's a smart player. >> Definitely. >> Behind nothing and one here. >> McCoy and leading off first. >> Comes the 01. That one's outside. >> Come on, Ollie. sticks. >> Important inning here for Ashland.
Any questions or comments? Seeing none, roll call, please, Mr. Yates. On administrative items, Mr. De Marzio. Yes. Mr. Fisher. Yes. Mr. Iannelli. Yes. >> Ms. Iannelli, excuse me. All over tonight. Mr. Mason. Yes. Mr. Pielman. Yes. Ms. Buttimer-Mowatt. Yes. And Mrs. Noll. Yes. The motion carries. Thank you. We'll be moving on to item eight, curriculum and instruction. I need a motion to approve items 8.1 through 8.6. Do I have a motion from anyone? Ms. Buttimer-Mowatt and seconded by Mr. Fisher.
I move the school board approve the resolution as presented. Second. Any questions? All right, Lisa. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Motion passed. Next, under old business, we need a motion for the approval of the 2627 board and committee meeting schedule. So moved. Second. Questions. All right. Lisa. Member. Yes. Member. Yes. Member D. Yes. Member Dan. Yes. Member Kelly. Yes. Member Zer. Yes. Motion passed. All right. Next. This is under old business. the Palis Heights TIFF and we discussed this a little bit um last month but needed some more information. So at this time I need a motion. We need a motion discussion because you just want a vote. There's no motion. Yeah, it just Yeah, it just dies. Okay. Do I have a motion? All right. and it dies. All right, next. Superintendent's report. Oh, I'm sorry. That's me. Does it have to be?
>> Are we doing till May 14th? >> Yes, >> we are. >> John, does that is that appropriate? Do you think you'll be prepared for a response by May 14th? >> Yeah, we should be good. Y >> thank you >> to May 14th. >> And is there a second? >> Second that. >> And a roll call vote. >> Anna Tesmani. I >> Angel Cassadian I. And that is now moved. >> Great. Do we want to bring our chair back? >> Great. >> Thank you. >> No. Let's see. So, what we have left planning board task list, housing production plan, comprehensive plan, implementation committee. I don't think there's are there any updates on any of those? >> The housing production plan. >> Okay. >> So, >> great. Okay. >> Awesome. Um, I will confess I got kicked out of my town email and so I need to log back on and I don't know if I have an update from um from Yolanda on the comprehensive plan.
>> Clark is quickly down nothing and two as he flails at the off speed. >> Right. Yeah. You need five runs to tie. So, the last thing you want to do is uh get your runner picked off here. It was a one, you know, was a closer game. You might take the chance, but >> that one is fouled away. Good spoil by Clark. Still nothing at two. >> Price ahead on the count is very tough because he's not going to give you anything juicy down the middle. Everything's going to be just out of the zone. >> 02. It's a ground ball foul down the first baseline. >> Let's go ahead. >> Once again, we've been in this spot uh several times. You've announced uh swing and a miss. >> Off speed down and away >> as Price struts off the mound with nine strikeouts through six, screaming and hyped up with his teammates.
>> Hey, Oliver. >> Comes the 1-1. >> Oo, a high strike. Laro did not agree. >> Very vocal. And now behind the count, one and two. >> Ash just needs to get a couple of runs here. You know, chip away at it. You don't have to get it all at once. Let's just get balls in play. Make something happen. >> Try to get into this Norton bullpen. You never know with bullpen pitchers what you're going to get. So >> that's a good point or to your point, you know, we haven't seen Price go very deep into a lot of games. So, you know, some pitchers slow down a lot after 50 60 pitches. >> Strike three. >> Maro did not agree with any of those strike calls, but he'll take a seat. Sixth strikeout of the afternoon for Price and this two away the home half of the fifth as Bratica will dig in.
Are there any questions or comments for item eight, curriculum and instruction? Anything under that? I have one, Janice. You have one? Okay, go ahead. I wanted this So, under curriculum and instruction tonight, Dr. Smith did touch on this as part of the strategic plan, but I wanted to call out um 8.5 because I think it's going to be a big positive change for our district. We are approving tonight a new website design, new communication system. I think it ultimately entails a new phone system, messaging within the building, all the above. It will all be implemented some soon, some over some time, correct? And I wanted to call out these gentlemen right here, Frederick and Mario in the IT department, because they put in a lot of time to vet these systems and you know, test them and figure out what's the best the best thing for Evesham as well as, you know, different stakeholder involvement.
No. No. And actually, most of it's not. I always feel guilty when I provide these reports because 99% of what I share with you under the superintendent report is really not my work. But, um, I I will graciously do my my best. Um, even though it was a long time between board meetings, April is a very quick and fast-paced month. So, I don't have a ton uh to to uh showcase, but if you could just uh um place your attention to page two of 12. Um, under that goal, I just want to highlight in particularly there's a couple things there, but the most important thing um Mr. Connelly had the opportunity uh to present at a national conference Kosen, which was hosted here in Chicago. um for some reason he invited me to participate in the presentation. Uh but as I could uh assure you that it was like walking around with um a dignitary because everybody was like you know John, you know John, you are you've worked with John and I was like I'm a little bit like you invited me just to showcase your your popularity.
However, I believe she's still out on vacation and when she returns we will be having hopefully the joint meeting to address the appointment of the implementation committee. It got lost in the shuffle for me as to whether we posted for it. I know we drafted something, whether we had a deadline on the town website, whether we have any applicants. All of that is sort of unclear to me. I'm hoping when she's back, we can regroup. That's my update. >> I know she was looking to get through town meeting, which is next week. So, should be back on top. >> Hopefully, I'll get access to my email and email her and we'll go from there. >> Okay. I I think I need your help. >> I can certain I'll reach out tomorrow. >> Awesome. >> Okay. All right. Reports. Um anything from the preservation committee? The CPC met um Tuesday to approve the value in which we are going to offer to buy that piece of property in the town forest.
And we are going to the last inning. Six to one Norton. Price is having a game. I mean, he's he's putting on a pitching clinic here. He's just um just great control. He's got he's got an amazing fast ball. Uh but he, you know, he knows how to throw that change up and mix the pitches in a way that makes it very difficult for the batters. So, yeah, he's he's just doing a great job. >> Well, Ash will have one more chance. Let's see if uh they're going to have to score five runs to tie it or more based on what happens here. >> And I assume Price will come out for the seventh. Yeah, I think >> especially with a a five run lead like this >> and how dominant he's been, nine strikeouts, chance to get the double digits, >> right, >> and finish off a very good quality start, get the win.
>> That's what Price has been doing. You know, he he's he's painting the corner. He's, you know, pitches in the top of the zone, pitches in the bottom of the zone, very few down the middle. >> And you know, the batters start looking up or looking down trying to anticipate where it's going to be. And you know, often times you're wrong. Bratica took a look at strike one. >> Walked last time up. >> Coin still at first. >> Price throwing over trying to keep him in a little bit closer. >> Doesn't seem to have a very big lead. >> As Bradica takes a close one, but it is a ball. So, it's >> one and one. >> Hey, Chris. >> Let's go kids. >> Chris. Brad batting 500. It's great to see him battle this lefty on lefty. >> Pitch looked about the same spot.
So, um positive positive point of light, Dr. Smith, Um on the agenda tonight. So, we're excited to see some new revamps really soon. And that will be rolled out in the fall? I think it starts in the summer. Yeah, I think the plan is in the summer, at least the website and some of the other communication pieces. Some of it will take a little longer. But the the PA PA system will take a little bit longer. Any other questions or comments on curriculum and instruction items? I have a question, if nobody else has any. My one question, and Ms. Magoulick, you have to forgive me because I don't remember everything, but can you please speak about the 8.4 focus grant? Sure. So, as a continuation last year, we received funding when we switched to the universal literacy screener in the primary grades. We received that focus grant roughly for like more like 18,000.
Um but I do want to recognize that it was it was an honor to showcase what I think is really a remarkable um step in the direction that a lot of districts are planning to go and we're about three years ahead of them in terms of alignment technology operations facilities under one umbrella that John has been highly successful in um over the last few years and and his team you know a few of them are in the room I'm not sure Seth's still here but Seth Wilkerson um is is the director of technology actually Seth and I carpool together which Seth realized that I don't know how to read ma Google maps or or anything because we spent about two hours in the road on the way home which was a great experience for for Seth. I'm sure he enjoyed every minute of it. Um but I do want to just say that it was a a remarkable opportunity to showcase the district on a national stage and specifically John and his department.
What I thought was going to be a very quick meeting turned into quite a interesting meeting. uh the owner showed up and um you know a lot more information was coming out um because the in the warrant article that's going to be presented it does say that we're trying to acquire the property through any method and it lists eminent domain as a possibility which I think kind of brings up a different kind of feeling to it than just a straight out purchase. So there's some back and forth that went with that and uh we gave the go-ahhead on the value that they could negotiate up to and I think the I don't want to speak for the finance committee but I think they [cough] are going to support it with a caveat that's in there so you'll hear that come out at the uh at the meeting on Wednesday.
>> I agree. And and let you know if I'm the coach, unless he tells me his shoulder hurts or he's got an elbow problem or or something where he doesn't feel he's right to go next, then he's back. >> And in his first four appearances, this would actually be his first win. He's 0 and1 on the year. >> Wow. >> But came in with an erra at 171. >> Wow. >> And most likely dropped that down significantly. Only giving up one run so far. >> That's amazing. A 171 RA and only of one one game. >> You know, you lost one game. Yeah. >> Too long. You'll lose one. Okay. >> Oh, 0 and one the record. >> That's crazy. That is crazy. >> And obviously that isn't just on the pitcher. You know, three no decisions obviously means that your offense didn't >> produce enough for you while you were on the mound, >> but they certainly have produced today.
