Ball comes loose. Again, Impinziski comes up with it. Impinziski looks like she loses it. Pellegrino with it. Feathers it into McKechnie. McKechnie can't hold on to it. And Agawam comes out with that. Nice look by Pellegrino. Speaking of McKechnie, can't hold on to it. Agawam comes up with it. Stiletto gets the ball over to Pazinski. Pazinski flicks it over to the other side of the field as DiBella can't hold on to it and the ball rolls out of bounds. Giana Byron quickly picks it up, gets the ball in. That ball gets knocked away. Couple empty stick checks on that. Ball still loose. Finn Mahoney fighting for it. Mahoney kicks it to open space and Mahoney Somebody's still trying to get it. Ball still on the ground. Still on the ground. This is like field hockey right now as that ball just bounced around about 20 yd and Hannah Eddy comes up with it.
Don't want to leave this to chance. Don't want to get in a position where somebody doesn't come back or has to step down. The entire team would speak the same language. So 50% would be ideal. That still leaves you the other 50%. To do action, to do information, to do reports, but when you're aware of this, you'll hold yourself accountable like I'm the one that distracted my team and pushed us over the edge of not getting to 50%. And then the the self-reflection which I loved in your workshop that the superintendent led was what choice or behavior have I made where I may have made it harder for the or for the system to achieve its vision. These are the technical things that you could reflect on. >> I mean if if we swap out 22 for two minutes we still only meet 40% with our SFG from the last meeting.
All of us placed top um at least 75 in the world. So, um that's a really big accomplishment that we had six people represent our local community on a world stage. I think that's really cool. Um other than that, we had um Excuse me. We had senior um senior awards on Wednesday um where we kind of got to celebrate all the accomplishments and community scholarships that everybody applied to um and were ultimately chosen for. Um and we also have AP testing today. Um I'm not as busy as Romina with the AP testing, but >> [laughter] >> um a lot of my friends said that it was stressful, but it was a very quiet environment. Um we we talked a little bit about how we can um make um put them in the white gym, which is kind of away from a lot of classes, and it just made it a [clears throat] quiet environment, a good testing environment for a lot of people.
>> [cough] >> Basically, right? Yeah. And then every year, right after Christmas, we start talking about next year. And that's what we use as numbers. Yeah. Um the next two pages are just some graphs that I just illustrating basically what this numbers were that we just discussed. Um where you can see the revenue amount and expense and then where the cash balance would be. Um and then the next one just shows you like what the ref- you know, with the referendum where the education cash balances and without it, you know. And like we already discussed. Um you know, it'll be depleted by the end of 2028. So, does anybody have any other questions on the education part? If not, well, we can move on to the operations. No questions here? All right. Uh so, then again, with the operations, just kind of what what's the expenditures that come out of that, you know, it's basically the this office, the central office, custodial maintenance, transportation, uh you know, and all of our operational supply type stuff.
Those athletic directors spend a lot of time at those schools. I mean, everything from all the events, and and we rightfully so have have given them assistance to give them a little bit of a break, but um there's just a lot to do in that position, and a lot of students depend on them, so I just wondered if there was like, you know, a list of those, you know, they still I guess they still send the letters to the high schools or to the coaches or is it coach and parents or like if >> like a intent to sign? >> recruiting that broker Yeah. Yeah, a lot of times that will go through the It actually goes through the high school athletic office and then it usually the coach will collect those and get those to the kids [clears throat] on on recruitment letters, things like that.
Pearson and Mr. Gaynor, they are the automotive teachers that we will be taking over for next year. So, we've already had communication with them, a lot of different meetings with them. So, we're excited to bring them on board. And we also have Dr. Asper who is here with us this evening for the assistant superintendent position. And we'll hear more from from you Oh, and then one more thing. Thank you to our summer school staff. That is on there underneath E. You know, a lot of those people commit Sometimes it's hard for school to end and the next day here are summer school kids, you know. So, we definitely thank them for their time that they're going to put in trying to support our students through that time. Further discussion? Okay. All in favor say I. I. Opposed? We'll move on to item 12, business. Item A, treasurer's report.
So there's um so tier one, the state kind of provides an online course that you take and you kind of go through the modules. Um, tier two is is just like parent communication between the families. And then there's an extensive one that after they complete tier two, tier three is more like specialized um interpretation uh through um special education meetings through that through that coursework. >> So when we interpret for for um for families, we do different meetings. Do we also do written interpret interpretations like >> we do letters? Um so that's something that we have to provide. Um and so we outsource document. So we have indistrict translators cuz translator is written interpreting is speaking when you're when you're doing um and so we have in-house translators that do documents and then anything that we don't have we outsource to UMass translations. >> Okay.
Um, also DHS TV media students, I mean, this has been a big deal for them. You know, the work that Mr. karate does with the students here at Dartmouth High School and the support that this program has and it's paying off in that they just earned top honors in the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for the Boston New England Student Production Awards. We're not um so like think about this. It's not this but it's like they're they're being recog they're being awarded an Emmy only for high school students and it's not called the Emmys. I know Mr. Parate. So, um we're not supposed to call it the Emmys, but it's Emmy like um um so, uh we have a few students that will mention senior Soph Sophia Faria received first place in two categories for and I think we know we all know this video.
She has plenty of speed and she goes by a bunch of the Agawam defenders, gets the ball over the restraining line. Like to see Hannah just take this one in and she does. Ooh, yeah. Good work by Hannah Eddy. Hannah Eddy should be getting herself an 8-m attempt as one of the Agawam players is getting sent off the field, it looks like Rizzaro. Larocque Larocque getting sent off the field with a yellow card. Hannah Eddy 8-m attempt. Hannah runs it in, turns around, goes low far post and Hannah Eddy gets her first goal of the season. Good job by Hannah, well deserved. All that hard work running the ball down the field, get the 8-m attempt. Put in the back of the net, put the Spartans up 14 to 3. 8 minutes left in the fourth quarter. >> [snorts] >> Marina won the draw. Ball's popped loose, Giovanni comes up with it.
So there's some work there too. >> Yep. And may I say that again? I think it was it was you all as a board here who talked about getting better progress monitoring so that you can extend those minutes naturally, not because you're checking a box, >> right? >> Okay. Well, here's here's my observation and not just mine. Let me say this. There are there are a number of boards across the country who are watching your board meetings. One of the things that's a big takeaway, this board has really began to internalize what exactly those inputs and outputs are, what's working and what needs more work. You as a team demonstrate a high level of competency. Encourage you to go watch three years ago. >> Watch what three years ago. >> Oh god. >> And and one your agenda doesn't look like this. Two, the beginning conversations about education about about your academic reports was nowhere near where you as a team are at right now.
Um this past weekend, we also had prom. Um I was so impressed with the organization and the administration of that. Um I worked very closely with Mr. Merendola and just the work that goes into that. Um It just I'm so impressed. And we actually used our um phones for like our Infinite Campus to um uh like kind of count as our attendance, but also like just our verification that we paid for our ticket, but we are um they're also saying who we are. And I thought that was an amazing idea of us using that as our identification. And then also, if you had a guest, it was super easy just to scan your ID and just be right in. It was super secure. I was really impressed. It was a lot of fun. Um other than that, I think this year the overall focus has been attendance um and that everyday branding.
And the main source of revenue for the operation fund is the local property taxes, which will be affected greatly by the SEA 1 bill. Um the projections for the operations fund on the next page, um basically same assumptions on the salary benefits for staff and um put in a 5% increase for the utility costs, um 6% on the property and casualty, uh put in 2% for like uh increase in costs for repairs on the buildings, equipment, and the supplies. Um I did talk to Jennifer and we did [clears throat] adjust the 5-year school bus replacement plan. Um she is going, you know, in the process and going to try to reduce our bus fleet. Um so, in our five-year plan that we had advertised last year in '26, there were some years that we had replacing four buses and some five. Um, after talking with her, we're going to change it to just replace three buses each year.
Thank you. Thank you, Joe. Appreciate your report. Um Thank you, Dr. Hoover for having that highlight on spring sports. That moves us into action items and uh we start with Rick Cameron. Consideration to approve the redraft of policy 6660, transportation by private vehicle. Good evening, President Duckworth, members of the board, Dr. Hoover. At last uh board meeting, we presented for your information a redraft of policy 6660, which established a comprehen- comprehensive framework governing the use of personal vehicles for corporation business. And tonight, we are recommending the approval of that redrafted policy.
Corporation treasurer has provided the treasurer's report on page 19. Questions? Okay. Item B, vendor usage report. Corporation treasurer has provided the vendor usage report listed on page 38. Item C, claims. Superintendent recommends the board approve the claims that are listed on page 45. Do I have a motion? Motion. Aaron and Autumn. Okay.
>> And then another company um as well. So, you know, community, we're delving into our MLE program, our ELELLL, how do we support our English language learners, um, and we're talking about the good stuff, but our job in a district comes with some challenges. So, if I had to ask you, what challenges do our English learner students face and how or how can we work to address them or what is being done to try to address it? What would you share? Yes, we have a lot of positive things, but then we have a lot of things that that um that we need to work on as a district or just myself, goals that I have and and just by looking at data and analyzing data, one thing that continues to um occur with our um ELLL students uh are low test scores um and in English and ELA and math and in all areas.
It's video titled one Dartmouth High School and for her work as an editor on the weekly news program. And then we have a sophomore, Aaron Cherish, who earned first place in animation and graphics category for his film Ninja Bread Cookie. >> I definitely want to see that one. And those students are going to take on the national take advance to national competition. Other students also had honorable mention. One I'll just mention because you've seen it and that was I know Mr. Parad's um C was the title of it. crossing with Mr. Parate. If you remember earlier in the year, we were able to see the video of him teaching the students to look both ways before they cross the street. So, um, also it was an excellent video and really entertaining and I'm so glad they were recognized for that. Under safe and supportive schools, Mr.
And Giovanni runs the ball over, gets the ball over the restraining line and I go, I'm having a tough time with that. Ball gets thrown out of bounds again. Jana Byron comes up with it. Goes through one, two. Gets ball knocked away, good job by Giovanni. She turns around, gets the ball up to DeBella. DeBella with Burns. DeBella still with the ball. DeBella turns around, feathers one in to Giovanni. Ball gets knocked loose. Avery Morgado good job by Avery to tap the ball into the back of the circle to Gray. Gray gets the ball up to Eddy. That ball comes loose. Ball's still loose. Mack Whitmer comes up with it. Mackie gets the ball over the restraining line. Good field awareness by Mack to turn around and well, what a pass. What a pass by Mack Whitmer to hit Julia Illingsworth cutting from the back side of the net.
So the the percentage in the minutes will come the more you keep diving into this and the second part of today will hopefully help you get there. The only thing that comes up for me for this, especially when it comes to the consent agenda item, and that goes back to having uh board procedures, because I think what happens too is that I would never want it to be the speculation that just because something's in consent, you can't speak about it, right? There's ways of pulling stuff out of consent ahead of time and putting it over as a discussion item. So, there's certain things that we can do ahead of the meeting. Um, so that that just kind of makes me wonder that we really do need that board operating procedures. That way when board members feel like, you know, this is going on. I don't feel like you're talking.
And this being my last year at DGN, I think this is one of the one of the first years where we've had one consistent message that has been above all others. Um obviously, there's other things that are important in our school district, but like the fact that we focus on one thing, which was being there every day, being present, and really attendance, I think that was something that was really effective. Um and I I can't wait to see and see some of that data, and I know we break down some of that data on the board side. Um but I I guarantee you there's some type of um um benefits from that. And anyway, but I I think people are are have been more present this year than in my last 3 years here. Um overall, um I just want to say thank you so much everyone for this amazing opportunity.
Um, as she you know, you know, transitions into getting rid of some of the buses. So, basically what we'll do is either like this in the past we've sold the old buses or we've used them as trade-ins. We kind of look to see how much more where we can get more. Um, uh, more funding. Are we still kind of on a 12-year cycle or something? >> Yeah. Yeah, 12 years cycle. That was um, um, there's uh, and then I maintained um, the current level of capital projects expenses at um, basically what we have this year was which was approximately 1.2 million dollars. So, I put that level in there spending. Um, after talking with Brock on Friday, he recommended that uh, because we don't know what's going on with the SA1 bill and how that's going to affect our AV that for the assumptions that we should use um, the 2026 assessed value rate um, and assume that just stays flat over the next five years.
