>> It's crazy. >> Okay. Thank you, Laticia. >> Next up is Mr. Carbakia. >> Thank you, Ver. >> Thank you. >> He's gonna find this trick. I, Teddy Tarbachia, do solemnly swear or affirm that I will support the Constitution of the of the United States and the Constitution of the State of New Jersey and that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same and to the government established in the United States and in this state under the authority of the people. So help me God. I, Teddy Tarvakia, do you solemnly swear or affirm that I possess the qualification prescribed by law for the office of members of the board of education and that I will faithfully and partly and justly perform all the duties of that office according to the best of my ability. So help me God. Furthermore, I affirm and declare that I am not disqualified as a voter persuant to RS194-1.
I know there's not a lot of room, but it's nice. Otherwise, we have a mass exodus of people who leave while other groups are trying to get recognized and it gets a little awkward for that. So, I appreciate your patience with it, but it how wonderful is it that we have so many different students that we get to recognize for the awesome things that are do they are doing today. So, first off, what I would like to do is talk about our WGAZ, our performing arts at Cooley and Williams Field. If you could go ahead and It worked. All right. Uh recognize our performing arts and the outstanding state championships that we have. I'm going to invite Mr. Bob Edgar, the director of bands, to come forward and he's going to talk about our different groups. Because they're such a large group, we they are going to cycle in and we'll get to be able to recognize them and for all the work that they do, but we know that the performing arts and our band and our our um colorguard and our winter guard and our winds are such an important group and they do such an outstanding job representing not just Williams Field, but the entire district.
So, we have to front that bill upfront um and it's approximately $131,000, but we will get back that money from the school that they are um zoned to live in. So, we pay up the bill, but we'll get the money in our school choice revenue account. Um, so I'm going to be asking a uh asking for a formal vote to increase school choice funds for 131,000 to support the budget for this year, knowing that money is coming back into that account, but being able to balance come end of year, we'll need to do that. Um in support services we had a student that um is a Pelum resident. So they are our student uh but they uh choiced out of the district. Um we had originally known that the student had special education needs. So we had budgeted 51,700 within the special education lines to support that student with some of the services we would have to provide.
He lived all but three years of his life here. Pharmarmacology doesn't lie. You can't change it. And the majority of deaths are from people over 21. So to restrict for 21 and only under 21 is a moot point. You are doing a disservice and you are not helping the group that it is truly affecting. Um you should look at the last week where three states have banned and repealed by Utah which was the first to do the KCPA and Utah just repealed it a month ago. So you can see the trajectory where it's going. I have sent you the six recovery groups and the opioid task force in Massachusetts that have asked me to speak. Clearly it is a problem or people are seeing that is a problem in Massachusetts. And my hope is is that you follow the other 26 towns or at the very minimum don't vote tonight and really gather all the information and look at everything that was sent to you so you do have a bipartisan view because the goal is always to do the best interest of your constituents.
I think that's 13. I can't really tell. That look like a 13. >> I think it might have been camp. I think it was 13. I can't >> 13 camp. was wrong on the draw. Camp is on the draw. I've been saying the wrong name for the whole game. Camp and Whiter on a draw. M Whitler with a self draw. Nobody stepping to M. Mac goes through one, two, turns around, takes a shot from point blank, gets her second goal of the game. put the Spartans back up four to one. >> It's almost as same thing that happened in yesterday's game. Spartans putting up eight quick goals in the first quarter. They're up four to one here and South Hadley having a tough time stopping any of the girls as they try to go in. Sure, their coach will sit down after the quarter and try to come up with a a better plan to stop everybody, but kind of kind of tough to stop the best scorer, the best player in Western Mass.
So help me God. Well done, young man. >> You You keep one. >> Thank you. >> Okay. Now, I'll take the role again. Congratulations to Carl, Leticia, Judy, and Teddy. I'll like to take the role again if I may. Mrs. Abru >> here. >> Mr. Capano >> here. >> Mrs. Fredo >> here. >> Mr. Garcia >> here, >> Mr. Nadru >> here, >> Mr. Pontiano, >> Mr. Rancor >> here, >> Mr. Russo >> here, >> Mr. Bakia >> here, >> and Mr. Munzi is not here. >> Okay, now we'll get into the reorganization agenda. We just did the ODS and is it oath or Os where you're from? >> I have a trouble pronouncing a >> I have I have trouble pronouncing it. I don't know why. Uh, we're going to ask for nominations now for the board president. >> I make a nomination for uh Teddy Terabakia.
So, we want to congratulate them on their success and I'm going to have Mr. Edgar tell us a little bit about each group. All right. First up is our uh winds group. This is a combination of Cooley and Williams Field students. I'm going to hand it over here to Miss Huddle. She is the director of this specific group to talk more about them. So, as Mr. Edgar said, there are students from both Cooley Middle School and Williams Field High School that make up this group. So, it consists of eighth grade through 12th graders. Um and this year they had a really cool performance of Led Zeppelin music. Um Stairway to Heaven. It was a great arrangement and they are first place in the state. So, these are your Arizona state champions. >> [applause] >> Okay, we're going to get a a picture with them and the board's going to come in, but quick show of hands, how many of you knew who Led Zeppelin was before the arrangement?
However, because they decided to choice out to another school district, that school district is paying for their special education services and we're being charged on the back end as our school choice assessment. So, kind of the opposite of what happened before. Um, so I'm anticipating that we will um not only need to transfer the 51,000 from the special ed line to support services, but when I look at um what's been build on a monthly basis through the end of the year, we would need an additional $20, $210 in order to cover those costs. Um, so I I do notice when we get to another section, I forgot to put that piece of the vote on. So it we can either modify that vote or we can save it for Q4 report just in case we don't need it. But if we don't need additional school choice funds, even if we vote it, I won't use it.
I am a constituent of mass maybe not your town but I am and I have been my whole life and I just hope that you will reconsider and look at all the information prior to a decision. Thank you for your time. >> Thank you. Um, next I see I'm sorry, uh, Laura. >> Oh, there we go. Sorry. Every one of these are different how you unmute. So, hey, uh, my name is Laura Romney and I'm grateful that you could give us a few minutes to speak today. Um I I just encourage you to go forward with good regulation that will protect responsible consumers like myself. I've been taking for nine years for a severe um facial nerve disease called trigeminal neuralgia. Um very debilitating and it's been truly a miracle for me and I know so many others that um have used this uh for their uh you know for their health issues, for anxiety and for a harm reduction tool.
And she makes it look so easy. M Whitler on the draw. Mac knocks the ball loose. Mac knocks it loose again. M Whitler comes up with it. That's six for six for Mack on the draw. She gets the ball up to Sabina Mckne. Mcknne looking to go through. She goes through on two and Sabina Mckne off the post. Ball comes all the way back to M. Whiter changing the stick and Mack will look to start up the offense. Gets the ball over to Marino. Marino over to Parsons. Parsons and Marino looking to play a little twoman. Parsons gets the ball knocked away, gets called. South Hav gets called. Lucy Parsons will start up on the 12 meter. Parsons runs it in. Nobody steps to her. Parson turns around, takes a shot, goes low post, and Lucy Parson scores a goal to put the Spartans up five to one.
I'll second it. That's a second. May I have a a vote of hands for eyes? >> Okay. I'd like to ask for nominations for vice president. I nominate Judy. I'll second it. may have a show of hands for eyes for Judy. Right. >> Okay. So, we have board president Teddy, vice president Judy. I just want to put who was number one. Okay, I'll just I'll run through the reorganization just some highlights. Uh much of this is duplicative from last year, but there's some line items like just have make the board and the public aware. Um if you go down to the middle of the page, there's a resolution recommended by the superintendent of schools to approve to advertise in accordance with S465- A5878. That's essentially now there's a new really a new law out there that I think it was effective in early March in regard to you no longer have to have what we call hard print advertising in the record.
Okay, yeah, the rest of you are faking it, I know, but thank you. >> Again, congratulations to the Northside Winds. Congratulations. Next up is our Cooley percussion ensemble state champions in the uh percussion scholastic junior high class for the Winter Guard Arizona circuit. This again is combined of eighth grade and seventh graders and represent uh the percussion section of our uh band program. >> [applause] >> So, this this year um been interesting. We've we've combined the seventh and eighth graders for the first time and I have to give a lot of credit to our seventh grade folks for stepping up and and reaching the level of our not all the way to the eighth graders. I got to give them their credit too, but rose to the occasion to compete and scored very high. They were I believe an 85 at championships, which is a very good good number for a for a score at the end of the season there.
And um, we'll reserve that. That'll be done in like July or um July or so when I start finalizing the budget. I I actually would like to add that in if we could tonight. Um, moving down to uh facilities. So, we talked about the um sprinkler uh system inspection that was at the Q2 report. So, that is hitting within these lines. It's a little over $8500 or so. Um, moving forward in our capital planning document five years from now, I have in a fiscal year that we'll need to plan to budget for that or ask for it in capital funds. So it's not something that falls off the radar or nobody knows about in the future. Uh we also had our annual department of labor uh building review. So this is something that already happens every year. During this um review they had requested that we provide documentation that there was no asbestous within the building.
And um just you know I know you've heard some things today about you know how dangerous and deadly it is but there's been no proof that there has been ever a death from a natural leafratom alone and we all know and the government knows that the big problem is 70 and these synthetics. In fact, just today there was a drug policy uh the national drug control strategy that was actually published and put out just today and in there if you read it it is very very clear that they are talking about 70. They keep saying 70 and synthetics that this is the problem. Um, I have sent you some resources that are very, very helpful. A compliance kit and compliance information, checklists and such that really does help you go into your community and find the bad actors and the problems that are there to be able to clean house, get rid of all of those and come up with a program where you can do a product registration or things like that.
Just under seven minutes left to go in the first quarter. After tonight's matchup, the Spartans have West Springfield on Friday night and Minichog to finish off the rest of their season. So, the rest of the games going forward won't won't be as easy as they had the last couple games. This game still early. Mac Whiter comes up with the the draw. She gets the ball over the restraining line, gets the ball to Emma Crims. Crimson looking to go through one, two, gets the ball disrupted, but Emma Crims looks like she'll be getting herself in 12 meter attempt. See if South Havly steps in front of her or if she can run one in like Lucy Parsons did. She likes to give the ball up. gets the ball to Mckne. Mcknney looking to do a roll. Nothing there. Mckne goes all the way around to the other side.
You can put everything out on the web and online. So that's essentially what that is stating. Uh we're going to appoint again Frank Bardo as our treasurer of school monies. Uh Frank is just uh wonderful and professional to deal with. I've been dealing with for 13 years and we couldn't find anybody better than Frank. Uh we're also going to uh approve Brian and Izzy as our Fairview rep board member for the 2627 school year and Mr. Rinfirst. Correct me if I'm wrong. We're still TBD for the anti-bullying. >> Correct. Yes. Okay. We'll do that at a later date. >> Okay. page three and and page four is essentially it's a lot of the TD banking stuff our banking are going to be with continue with TD bank who the official signers are all our different accounts payroll account agency account treasury account uh page five and six are essentially the contractors have state contracts county cooperatives and national cooperatives with us we try to update those on a on a yearly basis again as you know with state contracts national cooperatives, county cooperatives, uh provide us the ability not to have to go out to bid and or achieve multiple quotes since they've already the bids have already been awarded to them.
So super proud of them. Great job to the Cooley percussion ensemble. >> [applause] >> Next up we have our Williams Field High School percussion ensemble. Uh super proud of this ensemble. Um very competitive this year. We had some more more folks in our our class, more more groups to compete against. It's growing fast in the concert percussion world. So uh super proud again. Uh scored a very high number. I believe it was mid-80s as well and uh super proud of all that they were able to accomplish this year. So this is the Williams Field High School percussion ensemble. >> [applause] [applause] >> All right. Good job, Williams Field Percussion Ensemble. Next up, we have our color guards. Good job. Good job, son. This is our Cooley Cougar Color Guard. Say that four times fast. I'm going to hand this over to uh Beth Carlson. She's in charge of the guard program, and she's going to tell us some more about Cooley Cougar Color Guard.
Um so there was a renovation um done 25 years or so and we had a letter from 25 years ago stating that um there was no known asbestous within the building. We provided that and we have provided that to them in the past. Um but they said for some reason that that documentation is no longer sufficient and they needed a whole um review an asbestous inspection done a formal one. Um so that was approximately $7,500 that we paid that we were required to do and have. So out um after that was completed the there was discovered and it was discovered on in the cocking around some of the doors a door near the gym entrance and uh some door cocking near the custodial um room and it's right now it's non fryable and it's not posing a safety risk for being there. So moving forward though, we have to make a decision whether we um remove or abate the asbestous which is approximately $20,000 or um we can leave it as is for now and every six months complete an inspection to confirm that it's still not a safety risk um and it's not fryable.
They'll allow the um natural leaf cratom products that fit fit the very tight restrictions. They're the only things that are allowed on your store shelves. So, um you know, with the opiate epidemic in full swing patients like myself, it is like almost impossible to get any pain relief. And to find something that doesn't leave you altered and that allows you to be able to function is just truly a miracle. So again, I I urge you to follow the science, to follow what the FDA said in their July 29th press conference where they specifically said, "We are not interested." >> I need to cut you off. I'm sorry. >> Oh, yeah. No, no, no. That's totally fine. I appreciate that. Appreciate your time. Thank you very much. >> Thank you. Um, next, Kelly. Can you hear me? >> Yes. Go ahead. >> Hello. >> My name is Kelly McCann.
Still with the ball. Nothing there. Turns around, takes a shot. Julia Illingsworth there. Lets the ball roll out of bounds. Julia Illingsworth pick it up. Get the ball in. >> Yeah, it's on both on both the corners. it. >> Makney over to Marino. >> Marino using her strength. What a nice feed to Parsons as Lucy Parsons gets herself a hat-tick in the first quarter. Nice job by Kylie Marino to draw two of the defenders, hit the open Parsons and get the Spart get the Spartans up six to one. Hallelujah. >> No leaking, >> right? >> Yep. This is our I think this is the third game here in the brand new Jamie Rook broadcast booth. Yeah, new booth is nice. Pelgro on a draw along with Marino and Mary Devoy. And the Tigers get the ball over their straining line. Camp with the ball. Camp is one of their leading scorers with 15 goals.
