So, happy for them. And uh hoping that they can, you know, even make maybe even make a little run. But right now, it's time to get some runs against this tough Norwood team, who's been playing playing really well as of late. Yeah. Yeah, I think in TVL, what um ranked number five, and Norwood's number six. So, they're, you know, pretty pretty close in terms of ability. But I think you know, I think Ashland edges edges them out a little bit if if they play to their capabilities. So, quickly looking at the lineup here, Nicole Eustace is going to lead off. Uh Domenico's batting second. Vendetti is in the third spot. Kyra fourth. Loralie Collette's batting fifth. Haley Butman is batting sixth. And then Kazanjian, Kriegsman, and Ali Wilson are seven, eight, nine. Nicole Eustace comes to the plate here. She is as hot as hot can be, George.
So, um, Brenley Belchure, if you'll come on down, she was first place in public service announcement and so, um, very excited for her. This is her first time. um placing at state and she will be going to nationals. So very exciting in San Antonio. >> Perfect. >> All right. If you just want to stand up here. Yeah. The um next person is JC Belchure. If you'll come on down. She um competed in five events and placed in four of those five. So first place in public service announcement. She placed second in career portfolio, third place in community service project and seventh place in job interview. So very proud of her too. And she is actually able to take two events um to the um career or the nationals because one of them is a considered a unit or a um chapter one and that is that um community service project.
>> I. I. >> Any opposed? Same sign. Motion passes. and approval of the treasures report. Any questions, comments? Hearing none, I would entertain a motion to approve those as presented. >> So moved. >> Motion by Allison. >> Second by Josh. All those in favor say I. >> I. >> Any oppose? Same sign. Motion passes. Approval of the invoices. Mr. Murphy, is there anything you would like to draw our attention to? >> Yeah, so a couple a couple items on there. Um, we do we do have two months of graduation alliance credits, one for April for 148,964 in March, 153,282. So, we still have two payments left on our uh virtual graduation alliance for May and June going into the rest of the year. So, those are the credits that we talked about being really close to where we um budgeted for for the year. So, we're going to be really really close on those those uh those budgeted credits.
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Thank you all. >> All right. Item number four is adoption of our agenda. If I could have a motion. I'll make a motion to adopt tonight's agenda. >> Fantastic. Can I second? >> I'll second. >> Sorry. Take your pick. >> All in favor? >> I. >> Thank you. Um, next we have call to the public. Miss Cheyenne, did anyone want to speak that did not fill out a sheet? >> All right, we're going to just keep on a rolling then. Next are our presentations. It's our information and discussion items. First up, we're going to have our special education director, Nicole, come up and All righty. >> Talk to us. >> So, I guess I'll just signal to you.
The board has the full packet for your review, so um I'll just be highlighting some key areas as we go through the budget. The uh budget uh summary, so I wanted to just kind of give a highlight of the primary reasons impacting our M&O and our capital budget limits for this year. So, we had a slight decrease in our average daily membership or ADM counts. Primary, our high school counts, which we typically see around the 100 day mark. Uh this resulted in about a $500,000 decrease uh in to the maintenance and operations budget. Additionally, uh you may recall from the uh capital budget study session earlier this year that uh we're reallocating the state aid supplement of about $1.5 million from M&O to capital in order to support that plan. The ADM changes that we uh saw this year are reflected of um those high school changes that we just discussed a little bit.
So, vocabulary has been an area of growth for us. and the principal vocabulary challenge gave our students a meaningful way to stretch themselves, work together, and celebrate learning. I'm proud to say that they met their goal of learning 1,000 vocabulary words. In fact, they even exceeded that um as collectively as a school. At this time, I'd like to turn it over to our student council leaders who will share more about how the challenge came to life and the reward they earned in this video. Okay.
It's Ricardo and Diego. Come on down, gentlemen. Guys, what's the secret to a lasting friendship? >> Being real. >> Honesty, being real, I love to hear that. How long have you guys [music] been in a bromance? >> 7 years now, I think. >> 7 years, goodness gracious. I'm not sure what the anniversary gift is there. Do you have uh plans to continue [music] this bromance into your post-high school lives? >> Yeah, we're going to the same college. >> Same college? Roommates? >> No, we're both [music] commuting there. >> It's wise. It's smart. You just lost your crown for the ninth time. Good job. We love to see lasting friendship. Wildcats forever. Congrats on a great bromance. Guys, you [music] might remember her cuz she had a big moment in six. She's our next Broadway star. It's Ava Blondair, everybody. Ava, not sure if you've seen the Jim Henson classic Muppets Take Manhattan, but Kermit aspires to be a Broadway star in that film and struggles a little bit before he eventually [music] finds success.

Uh Dr. Phillips, we've got several handouts, your confidential notes on Friday to the board, kind of outlined what's going on in this session. Could you remind us? Yes, so you have um three items related to the first policy conversation. So, the first is F-100, which was the board policy developed uh by Church Churchill and Antrim that was adopted by the board in November of 2025 and in that policy it mandates that the board adopts uh uniform the board of the state board of accounts uniform internal control standards for Indiana political subdivisions and directs the superintendent with the assistant superintendent for finance and operation to implement administrative guideline guidelines and procedures consistent with the state board of accounts guidance and to ensure that corporation personnel receive training concerning these internal control standards and procedures. So then you also have those internal controls that uh in F-100R um which are three pages of internal controls developed just in the last month um we acknowledging that we do have several internal controls still to develop based on the new um the new policies that were developed this year but our intentions are to complete that work this summer.
And she loves to tell us about her puppy Clipper. Next out of Mrs. Lear's kindergarten class, Denver P. Mrs. Leer reports, "Ember is a leader in the classroom because of her ability to see things that need to be done. She jumps in to do them without being asked. She speaks up for others when they need help. And she is dependable, always dependable to help her teacher. Good job. Next we have Satie Smith. All right. So, Mrs. Miller says that Satie's first experience in a classroom began at school this year. I see her walking through the CECC library towards our classroom in the morning, and she always has a smile on her face. She is easy to work with as she cooperates well. She seems to love learning. She is kind and helpful to others. She even stopped one morning to help Mrs. Wartz with the milk cartons that were stuck together.
Started with East Gibson School Corporation as a fifth grade elementary teacher in 1995. Um obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Oakland City College in May 1990. Was interesting, you did a post of cleaning out your classroom over the weekend and I saw that. So, um so, I understand what you mean. >> from 3 years ago. >> 3 years ago, yes. >> thinking I know, yeah. Coached girls basketball and fifth grade volleyball at Francisco in the early 2000s. In your past life, Mrs. Bockholdt worked as a secretary in multiple departments at OCU and worked in the Pike Gibson Warrick Special Education Cooperative as a teaching assistant and aide. Mrs. Bockholdt is a Wood Memorial High School graduate, class of 1986, and has been a lifelong dedicated community partner in East Gibson ever since. Thank you, Julie. We appreciate your service. >> [applause] >> Next up, we have Mrs.
So, we got him through that. Also, we'll have uh we had a kid that got injured, so we could not do PE, couldn't do the weightlifting. So, to get the PE credit, you know, he spent time with us. So the obstacles aren't always what uh Mr. Boxel is going to have to share with you. Uh some of the other things that we do here is we provide caring and supportive environment. Um um nurse Meg uh deals with the mental health side of things. So she comes down once a week, speaks with the kids. Sometimes she'll do one-on-one with them to uh set some goals. Also, um they get an occasional dad joke from me. So sometimes you got to uh keep things light because we all come in sometimes you don't want to be there but you know if you can laugh you make somebody laugh then you can kind of take the edge off a little bit.

Um so our Applebee's teacher of the month um has a tough job in our corporation. Uh she is our uh sixth and seventh grade teacher. Um she is an advocate, a true advocate for these students um every single day even though sometimes it's hard work >> like today. >> Um like today was a hard day. So, um I just want to introduce uh Tracy Wy as OUR >> Thank you. We'll take a picture for chocolate today. >> Thank you. >> I know, right? I like both. >> Thank you. Have to go to work. >> 5:30, so I'm holding that one. >> Next up is opportunity for public comments. Anything pertaining to the agenda um can be discussed in the public comments on this round. If you have any, please come to the podium. Name and address, please. All right. With none, we're moving on to consent agenda.
So, look for that at town meeting and I'm excited about it. It's a blueprint for the future. It can be changed if we decide to go different directions, but it's a good starting point. >> Okay, great. And uh something else we're going to do, well, actually, we did it last time. Inspirational quotes. So, I have two that are related. The government is us. We are the government, you and I. And that was Theodore Roosevelt who was our 26th president and who I did a book report on in I think it was second grade. He started the national park system and the antiquities act. And then uh in a democracy the highest office is the office of citizen. Supreme Court Justice Felix Frankfurter. And I really love that quote because we have a a an org chart somewhere in town. I've got it somewhere I pile of stuff and on the very top above everyone is town bathing.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Thank you, Jim. Um okay, so I'm going to talk about >> [clears throat] >> the umbrella topic today will be democracies need checks and balances to sur to thrive and survive. And should I do the quote? Sure. >> Okay, so okay, do you want to read one or both of these quotes and then we'll talk about them. So we like to have references to some quotes and historical things and a couple that we found on checks and balances. The American system of checks and balances is only as strong as the leaders who have the character and courage to enforce them. From Neera Tanden. Next one's interesting is actually from our James Madison, fourth president of the United States. It may be a reflection on human nature that such devices, meaning checks and balances, should be necessary to control the abuses of government.
So, we've spoke how highly our town regards them before and this is puts them on showcase. Obviously, if things aren't perfect, everyone around the world is going to notice, and I think they live up to that standard. So, I think it's something everyone hopefully is super proud of. >> I I like the statue of the dog. It's very nice. It's a private property. Um, so I am going to take you behind the scenes of podcast. I need to fix my timer because I [clears throat] erased the time by mistake. So, I'm quickly going to do that. Um, timer. Okay. All right. And then, oops. Okay. All right. Well, we're raw, real, and rap. >> Well, and that actually fits right in with today's about communication. We are making sure you communicate. So, good job. >> Great. Yes. So, we don't need to hide anything here.
Ben Franklin said it's okay. >> Yeah, that is such a classic observation that if you're not agreeing with the powers that be, you're negative. >> Okay, so as everyone knows who's been listening to this, I watch a ton of films. So this uh last week I watched Enemy of the People and it's got Steve McQuain, who I totally love. It's a little bit of a different role for him, but it's still the same kind of role. He plays Dr. Stockman in in a in a small town that has these um they're like spas. I think they're almost like medicinal spas. So, the people come there, they dip in the spas, and they feel better. So, he had a hunch and he discovered that the spas were actually being contaminated by a tannery beyond them. So he told everybody, "We can't keep doing this. These people are going to be hurt by this toxic stuff in the water." I guess it was a bacteria.
She has reached safely on a hit in every game so far this season. Looking to get it started for the Clockers. Yeah, she's having uh just a heck of a year. We'll We'll maybe We'll We'll go through all of that later and talk about some of her stats. But they're off the charts. She's leading the league in a lot of uh stat category or at least a couple stat categories. And um she's doing very well. And and one thing for sure with Nico is I said this before, Nico is pure speed. And when she gets her bat in the ball, no ground ball is an automatic out with Nico Yustares at the plate. [screaming] Larkey finds the strike zone for strike one. It's one and one now to Yustares. I'm sorry, that's not Larkey. So so Sarah Randall. Sarah Randall is is pitching. Well, I missed the count there, George.
