As always, we'll be updating the website with our budget information once this has been approved by the board and submitted appropriately to the state of Arizona. I stand for any questions.
Can I have Miss Heman come up, please? So, bowling is a new sport for us. Is it this year? No, last year. Last year. So, and we already had quite a few uh qualifiers for the state bowling tournament. So, very exciting and we're excited to see what they can continue to do. You want me to >> Okay, I'll do it. >> All right. Uh Haley Cooper, Khloe Hardle, Seria Mcbine, Olivia Miller, Jasmine Paddock, Adriana Vargas, Evan Baker, Luke Bem, Kaden Kankite, Thomas Grub Graph, Rodie Golifer, and Tyler Hayes. >> Yeah, absolutely. So, um I learned a lot about bowling this year and if anyone is new to bowling, it's very exciting. Um we actually had 34 kids come out for the bowling team. Um and I would something that our school should be super proud of. I was proud of every place that we played at.
You take some sick photos. I think our community is very thankful for the way that you've captured some big [music] moments this year. Favorite moment as a senior? >> Favorite moments are all the moments because as a senior, every moment should count. >> Beautiful. I'm going to get emotional. Get Sophia back out here. Can we follow you moving forward? What are your socials? >> For now, it's Tong's Gram. >> Tong's Gram. All right, don't miss out. Follow Tong. Say you knew him when. Uh, it's not a senior, but I believe I just heard a yellow-rumped warbler above us. You may have seen her on the court balling out with her friends. You may have seen her in the stands getting rowdy. It's Sneha George with the most school spirit. >> What's going on? >> Whoa. It's happening in real time. Sneha, you're a hype machine.
At this time, any leaders from these departments, please come on up for some photos. All right, one more final round of applause as we recognize and celebrate these amazing staff members for all they do. All pride honorees, please proceed out into the hall and gather at the landing of the stairs for a group photo. Thank you to the families and colleagues who are here tonight to support our winners. Next, we have our student recognition for the month of May. Tonight, we are welcoming several of our students to be recognized for their recent achievements. Our first student, do we have Eric Gonzalez here? He is not here. That is all right. Eric, he is one of our journalists and he was he recently competed at the IHSA State Journalism Finals. Among those students are Eric Gonzalez and Taylor Urbanowski of Oswego East High School. Is Taylor here tonight?
>> I move that the board of school trustees approve the commenation for the AHS drum line as presented. >> Second. >> Motion by Kim, seconded by Mike. Is there any discussion? All those in favor. That motion passes 5-0. Congratulations. I'll make the quickest of remarks to you. World school drum line just real quick. I'll be in four sentences. In four sentences, we never take it for granted. Your excellence 13 years in a row is an amazing feat. Congratulations to you and all the other members of the line. Uh it's the pinnacle of teamwork and perseverance and dedication and you make us all proud. Thank you for being part of Avon schools and have a good concert. And then the trifecta of state championships is uh then our world guard. So if we could have the world guard come forward, they had a successful season. And I believe Mrs.
How long have we had F100 in place? November of 2025. Thank you. Other questions from board members? Okay. I don't know if this is the time, but I have a question about some detail in F100 that maybe I should understand it, but I don't. Sure. It and it references the $5,000 cutoff for whether a theft is material or not. What what's the significance of that? I believe that's established by the State Board of Accounts. What what does it mean, I guess, in >> To be material or to not be material? >> Yes. Probably best to answer that. I don't think I am. It That was a good question. If if a if there is a a material difference um in your audit when if they find something that is material, then it is a finding in an audit that then we must respond to with a corrective action.
My next person also isn't here. Might start. His name is Troy Fry. He's a custodian at Hume Childhood Center. Here is a gentleman that has a smile for everyone he sees, a high five for every student he walks by. Troy tasted the culture of Camden Early Childhood Center by using his sense of humor to draw everyone else into his approach of incorporating fun into work each day. Troy notices the small things and often finds discreet, compassionate ways to help. He approaches his work with pride and helps to ensure Camden is a place where dreams begin each morning. Diane, where Diane retires this year after 35 years of service. Um, she began her time at Camden on May 13, 1991. And it just so happens that we will celebrate her retirement 35 years to the day that she retired on May 13, 2026. Um, she had been she has been tirelessly dedicated to not only the students in the school, but also to to gosh, I did not speak to preserving the town of Camden and its history for future generations.
And I just really appreciate the time and effort that you put in. We wish you the best in this next stage of retirement. And as I said earlier, I'm a little bit jealous of all four of you that you're heading out to retirement. But I wish you the best and pray that God blesses you during this next season of life. Mr. Sabir, you want to say anything? I want to make sure you guys sign up for being a sub. >> [laughter] >> I appreciate you guys. Miss Keller, I've known her a long time. So she taught me. Yeah, can I change my mind? >> [laughter] >> Yeah, you can change your mind. I think I'll stay. >> I never heard of Maggie, Indiana. >> [laughter] >> And so the night before my interview, well, I got a call from Stan Young because he found me at the placement office.
Never said he can't do it. It's too hard. It's too much. I've never heard him complain at all about anything. So, you know, our kids do face a lot, but most of them that are successful and leave our building as graduates, they have never backed down from any of the challenges. >> Hello, I am Megan Gillian and I'm a senior this year. Um, I feel like my situation is a little different than a lot of people in Viking Success. Um, you know, as he mentioned, I was homeschooled all the way up until my junior year. And then, um, none of my credits, they none of them transferred. And so, I was planning on getting my GED, but then cuz I didn't see a way for me to graduate. And then last year in the summer when I was told that I could graduate this school year, I knew I was going to try like my hardest to be able to complete the credits.
That's the uh three elementaryaries that did pass which is very minimal. That's all I got. >> Thank you. Any questions for Mike? Mr. Richie? Uh we we're expecting the delivery of five school buses before the end of the month. Three special and two regular buses. And we've also been told by the manufacturer that we can expect five additional buses to be delivered for starters and new buses to start. um the bond sale of 2026 that will be coming up. Um we're planning to advertise September 17th and 18th. And what it is, it's a notice of determination because you guys went through the entire process last year and it was just split into two different bond sales. But the project was approved and all the hearings were done. So it was a much uh streamlined process this year. So there'll be no posting notice in September.
So this year um we have 335 students. Um that's a big jump from 11. Um, we have 116 coming in person every day and participating virtually. We've earned more now than 1500 credits this year and we hope to graduate 52 students. Um, and it could be even more than that because some of them have really kicked it into the gear in the last few weeks here. They see the finish line. So, key changes. This slide every year shifts quite a bit. This year we only have a couple of of things. We were able to start this year and Starky and I were talking almost status quo. Nothing major u was happening at the beginning of the school year. Um but some things uh crept up on us toward the end uh that we'll talk about. But the big thing for the in-person side is that because we have uh so many students that we need to serve them in two shifts.
>> So I did ask also who answered this because it it was not clear. >> Yeah. And I think I think just you would want to know that as asking a question getting a clear answer. >> Well um briefly back to the quite bizarre setup of the meeting. I mean, instead of just letting people get up and ask their questions and getting them answered live, now it's this whole convoluted posting them trying to get the people that were actually sitting here who came here to answer the questions. After about 20 minutes of question answering, even though they had hardly touched, don't ask me the questions. Um, they left. And now there's this perhaps weird scrambling. And this is the kind of thing that >> uh it's it just comes across as extraordinarily inefficient waste of time and I we had pleaded before the meeting to please just do it >> regular.
So, the kids actually in the town said, "You should pick Jefferson Smith cuz he was head of the Boy Rangers." And he would take They were all talking about nature and everything. Um so, uh he appointed him and then he got there and he was walking around looking at uh you know, Abraham Lincoln and all the statues and everything. And then when he got into the Senate, he found out almost by accident cuz they were trying to hide it from him, that there was actually land corruption going on and they wanted to take some land that his state, and they never say which state it is, um wanted to turn it into like a national boys camp, so that every This is This was filmed in 1939, by the way. Um and so, he ends up doing the filibuster for 23 hours and I've actually Googled it and you really you're not supposed to even leave to go to the bathroom.
I think we've we've learned that >> bad girls have their own community meetings and I think that's something um that does come up under communication but how would you do that right that getting a meeting space up it would go with that communication who do we communicate with to get to have public meeting space in town [snorts] bad girls get things done bad girls embrace controversy and I I think that comes we refer back to Jim Hannah Right. We wouldn't make controversy, but sometimes speaking up is perceived >> as controversy, and we don't want to be afraid of that. >> That is bad. >> Yes. Um, bad girls push for their voices to be heard. Thank you again, Jim Hannah. Uh, bad girls do their own research. I think you you might hear something and then you have to say, is that true? Do you want to look into it?
So I mean this whole time they were saying, you know, they did everything without us listening to us and then promised us a listen and then cancel a listen. So I I I don't know. I think it's just horrible. What do you think? Well, I think the defining priorities um when I haven't seen I've seen positions being added. In fact, with this override, I believe we're adding more positions. It it doesn't make it really a credible argument about budget. And I think as a community, we should be able to have broader discussions about if we want to add positions if we think we don't have enough money already to run the government. And I think there's a lot of priorities that maybe really need to be looked into. Um other another town I I thought someone did a great job writing about and it was really kind of heartfelt saying I I I admit I wasn't really paying attention but clearly had a suggestions of five things to look at before you really get down the road of saying I have to cut a firefighter.
Yeah, pitcher's on the inside uh edge of the zone. But just just enough to get a strike call. Randall hits a good shot. That's going to just get dropped down. Great little piece of hitting there by Ava Vendetti. She pulls one to the left side, drops it right in front of the left fielder. They'll get a little something going here, first and second with Caroline Carrey coming to the place plate and one out. Nice job. That ball was sharply hit, so Herder couldn't really take off on the hit cuz she wasn't sure whether the uh the left fielder's going to make it make her way in and catch the ball, so she just got the second base. Which Which is great. Carrey steps to the plate here against Randall with two on and one out in the bottom of the first. Takes the first pitch high, ball one.
She had first place in graphic design, first place in parliamentary procedure, second place in interim induction to parliamentary procedure, which was a test, and third place in website design. So, she placed one, two, and three, and had to make a decision to try to figure out which one she's taken in nationals, and she is going to be joining the graphic design team. So, we're really excited for her on that. And last, but not least, come on down, Miss Avery Zimmerman. Avery, this is her first year at FBLA and um she joined that graphic design team and was so excited when they announced first place for them. So, thank you guys all for recognizing these students and their hard work. I know there's a lot of deadlines they have to do. Um there was hours that they were submitting and working on papers. Just to name a few, um the community service project is a 17page paper that it's a report that they had to work really hard on and and go through.
Root for her last performance. Mrs. Robinson organized a career day for our students. We had lots of different careers that were represented. Um the one that seemed to get them all was the phabotamist um with her blood drawing. Um we had several kids in the office afterwards that were really squeamish and couldn't handle the the little straw with the red um food coloring in there. So that was kind of funny to see all of all the boys hanging out in the office. We did have um we have had several families call and ask for tours of our building. It's pretty exciting that um we have some growth to look ahead. Um so um they are very interested in coming into our building next year. We did send out over four or right at 44 summer school invitations to both the CPES and WES students. Um we're waiting till this Friday to see how many actually responded can um come that so that we can do our transportation and get everything lined up for schedules.
The state would like us to be between 9 and 11%. Prescuit is at 16.7%. Humble is at 16%. We are at 23%. >> So, we're we're pretty high up there right now. We've had our numbers go up with kids enrolling in our schools. Okay. Uh to tell you a little bit about our programs for those of you who may not be aware, we have um it is the most restrictive going down to the least restrictive. So we have EDP which is our self-contained classroom for students with emotional disabilities and sometimes psychiatric disorders. And we have self-contained classrooms which are for centers kids. there are children who may have mild to moderate intellectual disabilities, levels of autism, things like that, u brain injuries. Then we have extended resource. Those are for kids who do not fit into centers, but they're not quite high enough for resource.
>> I'm not hearing any questions from the board. I'd like to open this up to the public if there's any questions for the expenditure budget revisions as well. Not hearing any. Thank you very much.
