So like them being the junior high, they've got um high top, low top tables. uh Colombia will all keep low top tables just because of the the student body there. Um some of the booths that we've talked about are uh like we'll sit like in the two respective corners. They're sensory booth. So for some of those kids that have um issues with anything, those they'll have those um for those children. >> Why were they chosen fifth then? >> Yeah. Yeah. Don't don't answer. >> All right. Is there a motion to approve? So move. Is there a second? Second by Mil. Any further questions for Mr. Skinner? >> With none, all those in favor? >> I.
That's going to drop. It goes by the right fielder. Nico is heading around third. She's looking to score without any problem. A two RBI single for Ava Vendetti and what I tell you George, when Nico even has a chance to sniff home plate, she's going to get there. >> [crying] >> Yeah, I thought that that drop was going to score one run easily, but the ball would be thrown in. But, you know, I think the the right fielder took a little bit of a step. Nico saw the opportunity as well as the third base coach and sent her around. Oh, and Caroline takes one. Looked like it hit her right in the shoulder. She's not going to be happy cuz I know she wants to hit. I know her pretty well. So, she wants to hit, but she's taken one. And she takes one right off the the the shoulder.
So, um we're looking at our egeneuity platform for our virtual classes uh going into next year. might have a small change on the way those are done rather than everything being um on the computer kind of having specific teachers through Egeneuity for some of those specific classes. So, we're looking at that option as well. Working on getting our district events calendars uh ironed out and printed going into next year. And then we have graduation on Sunday. It's here at 2:00. Um I know a couple of you reached out to me, but if I could have an idea of who's going to be here, we'll make sure we have enough chairs on the stage for you guys. And we met in here about 1:45 last year. So, um, you'll be here. Mr. Dalton, will you be here? Yeah. Josh, Tamara? >> Yep. >> Alison, would you like to be here, too?
>> Um any questions, comments on it? >> I'll make a motion to approve the part-time Ames preschool teacher 26. I'll second the school year. >> Perfect. All in favor? >> I Thank you. >> Thank you very much. >> Item 10A, our expenditure revision. Mr. Livingston. >> Yes, Madam Chairman, members of the board. We have a a couple items. I I referred to them real briefly in the April report. Um, if you could go to that item and open the expenditure budget itself. And when we put these in here, it looked to me like most of them were standing up portrait style. Now, some of them have flopped over. If you'll go to page four and expand it so you can read those numbers. I just like to draw your attention to three numbers there on page four. And I do have hard copies here in case you're having a flip issue with your Adobe Writer reader there.
There's not much to do with solar, which is great. Once it's put in place, it's kind of plug and play, so you almost set it and forget it. But, you want somebody to help you just diagnose it, make sure if there's anything needs to be tweaked. You So, we typically recommend the installing company um do that. And we put together they have a plan in place. It's not expensive, but we we used about $15,000 a year annually after uh first year. That first year gross savings is obviously huge, like I mentioned, 4.2 million. The next year is obviously going to be a little less, but if you notice again your utility savings now went up because again, you're going to be paying more, but you're producing solar, so you're getting a better savings. So, that number goes almost to $300,000 of real dollars um that the district spends ComEd would go back and be used for other infrastructure, facility needs, whatever uh roofing, wherever funds you decide to put it in.
Uh assuming as you said that there will be some students who will not pay and we do not have uh an ability to collect on that. So what is the percentage that you are anticipating? >> I'm anticipating what our free reduced um percentage is and it's around about 49 to 50%. So your perception is as you budgeted for this was that we will collect from about half the students. >> Okay. My second question is um we're not seeing unless and I understand probably because it's a work in progress the high school fees. Um we kind of heard some generalities about 200 classes that fees aren't going to be charged. But I didn't hear how many classes there are going to be charges. Do we know the answer to that? >> No. Those I don't know how many but I didn't add them up but they're in the packet.
Right. I I'm saying the piece for me that's missing is the board discussion and conversation, but Among the board. >> Absolutely. We have always been informed. And I appreciate that. Thank you, Mr. Major. Yeah, I I to be honest with you, I feel like most of the conversation tonight has not been about the policy I wrote. It's been about situations and uh I just hope everybody's been able to read the policy and and come up with anything constructive that they may have. I did put time frame in there. So, I felt that uh at the end if there is a discrepancy found and an issue that there had to be like I could I don't think we could wait 2 years to find, right? 60 days is reasonable for someone to come in and say, "Hey, let's talk about a situation." And so, so to me, again, you know, it's $160 million a year.
And then our another stop was uh vision screening with the Lions Club. The Lions Club did that. And then when the children were done with their tour and they did the different activities and gone through the testing, they before they left, they stopped to see Mrs. Carlson or Mr. Hawk and they were all given a book the night before kindergarten and these were provided from the deli chapter of the Sai Sai Iota Sai sorority and they all got a t-shirt of I don't know if I want to say that or not. 13. >> So overall we had um 70 in attendance. 62 are completely registered, ready to go. 13 are in process waiting on uh proof of residency, things like that. So it looks that overall right now 75. So we're right at where we want to be. We just want to you'd like to get more.
And we're like, those have to be industry certified, not just you think they're a great band student. So, we have to stay on path for that. Um, you'll see that communication and collaboration is not there and they're still working on it. There's a rubric that I've seen in secret sworn to secrecy that I believe that we will use in various courses to determine the students uh level of proficiency and communication and collaboration. We are very blessed. We have a great number of teachers using PBL our project based pieces and problem based pieces that will easily fit into those rubrics. And then work ethic is all tied to attendance. And we have added classes in financial and digital literacy. And we added the government test that we had not given in the past to cover the civics piece. That's a lot. We did a lot. And now we're going to pass it to Dr.
>> Any opposed? >> All right, we're approved. 5. >> It was your presentation that did it. >> Yeah. That put me over the top cuz I was on the edge there. >> All right, we have next up is uh the appointment of a school corporation representative to the Logosport Cass County Public Library Board, Tamara >> Sarzooski. Is that right? Sarski >> Sarszki. >> I got it. I don't need I got this. >> Is there a motion to approve? >> So move before she changes her mind. Second second.
As we say at home, way to wear it, Caroline. Took a tough one there. But, she got on base and now we got the bases juiced for Lorelei Collett, who is the one who had the huge hit earlier in this inning. Clockers are now up 9-2. They're They're just right racking up the score this inning. This is a phenomenal And another base hit by Collett, who rips a single. It's an RBI single by Lorelei that hits keep coming. The RBI single there by Lorelei knocks in Quinn Herder, who was running for Bella Domestico, Vendetti over to third, Taylor Kotch over to second, who's in for Kyra. And Lorelei is now at first bringing the bases loaded up for Hailey Buterman who takes ball high. This is a heck of an inning right here, George. We had We've had 12 batters come up, still no outs, and nine runs.
>> I could be. That would be great. So, 1:45 in here on Sunday. So, we'll have seating up on the stage for us to sit to congratulate our seniors on all their hard work. >> All three. Mhm. >> I'll bring you some things. >> Oh my gosh. >> I won't. >> I don't need it. >> I will be happy. >> Not your job. >> Not my wife. That's a different story. >> So, those are the items I have on administrative report. We have a lot of projects going ready to hit the ground running once we have kids out of the building and enjoying their summer break. >> Are there any board member reports? >> Um any open agenda items? >> One I'd like since it's fresh. We just had it about moving the elementary school programs to here for a couple reasons because of parking spaces, seating space, and most of all air conditioning.
>> Well, I'll just be >> lots of fun. So, I'll just summarize it on uh line three up top there. You see a column and the first column has a number 1.2 million. 1,ion227,000. That's how much money based on last year's attendance, the 2425 attendance. That 1.2 million is how much we brought in. Can you see that now? I can give it to you. So, it's page seven on our budget and >> Oh, seven. I was on four. I'm >> excuse me. Excuse me. >> Well, that's four. >> Yeah, four. It is four. We want four. >> It's your It's your four. >> That's right. Because I gave you >> Yeah. 1 million227. >> Yep. >> So, that's how much money last year's count generated for this year's capital funds. as we know what our costs are because we know we're topheavy and student to top heavy in expense, top heavy in staff and low in student council.
And that continues all the way through. The wreck income uh continues to get paid at $253,000 roughly a year. We've taken out the O&M, and this is how we get to roughly the 7-year payback, which again is outstanding if you think of uh in terms of the money in and the money out. >> Any final questions? >> Okay. >> I have I have lots. >> Yes, good. >> So, I'll I'll see what I'll let you all >> Are we um as a district purchasing the panels, or are we and Are we purchasing the panels in my first question? >> Yeah. Great question. Uh so, there are two options again. There is the uh the ownership model, which is absolutely what we're showing. You own the panels, you own the system, you own all the rebates, you get all the energy savings, everything. There is other option that people might have heard of.
>> Okay. It's in the packet. Yes. I'm sorry. >> It's listed by course. >> I got it now. >> There's only a couple that are to um TBD. I would say 99% of them are all listed. >> Okay. I got it now. Thank you. I guess just to to clarify as I'm scanning through the list and and uh from accepting like you know human organs or or uh biomed innov innovations. You're you're chewing through a lot of consumables that are that are directly going to your cost. So it's not necessarily to school money, but you're paying for the work or the materials you have in the course that you that you're using. >> Is that right? I guess I'm saying it as a statement, but that was my understanding. Is that correct? >> You are correct. >> To to your point, uh, Mr. Yoder, when we have analyzed the state allocation, um, it it really has in in the past been somewhat close at the elementary level.
We're getting ready to ask the community for a whole lot of money in a referendum. And uh I just feel like you know, it it's it's a very good transparency tool to ensure that everything's being done right. To the comments about uh what are we doing different? Um I would be curious if we could get a report on what we got here. Uh there's four instances of discrepancies. And uh you know, one of them there was uh a school where there was a uh basketball game and there were uh not they didn't identify the number of tickets that were pre pre-numbered and uh didn't have a uh accurate count at the end either. And so, what have we done to fix those things? It'd be really nice to see with this packet the the We don't I don't need it tonight. Um but it'd be nice to see what we changed to make those things better cuz this is from 2022 to 2024.
So then so I'm going to do our prek one. So prek was new. Um so we we went with an ocean theme. Um we we like our themes in kindergarten and the early childhood um sector. So we plan to rotate our themes every two years and so next year we'll have a new theme for kindergarten most likely and keep the ocean theme. Um, so we had that the following week. Uh, the kids came in and they got a little bag for their goodies and a brochure for parents to follow through the building. Um, greeted them at the door and then mainly they just went to each of the different classrooms to meet the different uh, prek teachers. So, Mrs. Harrison and Mrs. Brewer were in one room. Um they gave out an ocean coloring book as well as parent guidance on the pre kindergarten standards for reading and math from the state.
Dots to talk about some of the nuts and bolts especially leading towards high school. So, one of the things that I would say is yes, there's going to be a learning curve as we figure out how to tackle this. Um, but I would call your attention to that slide. I don't see anything on that that causes me concern. Who doesn't want to help our kids master academics better or be able to get a stronger work ethic, right? These are things that matter and that are meaningful regardless of accountability model or not. So across the district last week, each building went through a little bit of this just to create awareness with their staffs. And at Huntington North, we talked about let's do what we do. We help kids at a high level every day. There are nuances that we'll need to educate ourselves on and some of the rules of the game, but at the end of the day, all that's great stuff.
>> Any questions about Miss Sarzooi? >> She's actually a former librarian. >> She is. >> Now she is now. Yeah. With a master's degree in library science and she uh is head of volunteer services at the she was my employee for 10 years. >> Are you on this board? >> I am. I'm on that board too. >> What's your qualifications to be on the board? >> I actually count the books. >> Yeah. Okay. Did we vote? >> She'll be good. >> Did we vote, Tammy? >> No, we didn't. >> All those in favor signify by sign of I. >> I.
Yeah, that's a fantastic inning. The last ball was hit so sharply to center field that the runners, yeah, even the runner on third, they just did not have the opportunity to make it home. I don't even know if Nico could have made it uh on that on that blast in the center field, but what you said, this is amazing. We still Oh, hey Haley looked like she was a little unsure on that last swing. I think she was trying to maybe hold back, but she kept it more of a defensive swing than we usually see out of her. Uh she tends to have a a shorter swing, so let's see what she does here. That's outside. And now it's three and one to Butera man, who again, a walk here a walk here knocks in a run. Uh so something that you certainly [music] want to think about is taking here with three and one.
