My apologies. Um as we go through the process of developing interests and options based on the recommendations that the meet and confer team has, uh the team develops standards to make sure that the standards align to the goals of the process, as well as what the guardrails and our guiding and guiding principles are from the governing board. Uh so, what we see from our standards that were developed this meeting round, uh we had to reach consensus, we had to align to student outcome focused governance, we had to make sure that our options were in the best interest of children, that they were legal, and that they were fiscally responsible and sustainable. So then now I'm going to turn it over. Good evening. Dorothy Green, exceptional student services coach, current secretary of CEA and member of the meet and confer team. One of the most important things that we did during the time that we were together is really look at what values did we want to make sure that we are adhering to when we made recommendations and made decisions about options that were on the table.
It's important. Yeah. All in All in Aye. Anyone against? Beth, did you have something to say about that one? I'm sorry, I went out No, that one's fine. Okay. Uh can I have a motion, please, to approve the Moses Reed Tyler scholarships? So moved. Jess? Second. Lisa?
So I'm just I'm just concerned that you know the the numbers would have been different if there was more responses or or I don't know how many students >> with the student responses we have 46 students who who submitted the response and we have 13 teachers and nine of them submitted and then we could not update it anymore because we already submitted the report. So, but we only have 13 teachers who taught and we got seven of them responded and then we only have few parents but we tried our best to as well um send um invitations through class dujo newsletter and we're looking forward for more um responses maybe in the future but as far as we get some responses we just use it to utilize it to present it to the board of like the important feedbacks that we got so Okay, thank you for clarifying that.
So, if you don't replace the one pump, the other pump's going to fail pretty quick and be overloaded and >> yeah, it's it's it's a domino effect for sure. >> Okay, I think we're ready. >> So, to be clear, we're not actually voting on each individual item. We are voting to go to bond for this amount of money. We will have the opportunity to vote on individual items in the future. If the bond passes if it doesn't pass, I don't know. We don't even want to think about what's going to be cut out of. So, >> so I need a motion then to establish a 50 million amount for a bond coming up in this future in this election. And it needs to be a yay or a nay on an individual basis. So I have Could I have that motion? >> I move that we're doing bond first.
So um multiple times we got into small groups and the the time that I felt was most important and valuable is right before we started working on kind of prioritizing the compensation options and we got into diverse small groups. There were four of them and there were classified, certified and administrative representatives in each of the four groups and we really worked authentically on developing values that we as small groups felt were super important as we moved forward to consider various options that could cancel each other out, right? So there wasn't enough money for all the things that we wanted, obviously, and we knew we had to adhere to the amount of money that we were presented with from our resources in the business services department. So we really needed to think about we couldn't do it all. How are we going to decide which things move forward?
Any questions on this one? Just a comment. Beth Menzie does some really great work putting this together. It's not easy organizing that, running things off, doing it all. So, just want to make sure we acknowledge the work that she >> Jess and you and Mr. Meriani are the ones that meet together. They go through all of the scholarships and they like rank them and they tier them and >> Yeah, it's a lot of work. >> every year and it's really nice of them. So, thank you. Thank you. All in favor? Aye. Anyone against? Okay, that uh that motion passes as well. Uh again, upcoming meeting June 9th. Could I have a motion, please, to adjourn this meeting? So moved. Then, Jackie? Jackie? Beth? You never hear me. Any comments on that? Just a reminder graduations June 7th. You all got formal invitations to go to it.
You know, I I I I really think this is good even though the for our students to be moving up, especially like in the e academic growth from pre-est to post test, but um I wish there was more responses so that way. But you know, it's good every everything. I mean this is what we like seeing is that blue and there's a lot of blue. >> Yeah. >> So um so thank you for that. >> You're welcome. >> Anything miss Leonard? >> Thank you so much Mr. App. >> Yes sir. And at this point, please help me welcome um our transportation um trio to be able to present the next um request. Let's give it up for the beline consultation. >> Good evening, President Gwendilla, distinguished members Vance and Leonard, Superintendent Diaz, Mr. Ben, colleagues, and community members. It's a pleasure to be here this evening and have an opportunity to address you.
>> Okay. I move that we go um out for bond for the 50 that we talked about and >> this is to go on the ballot. >> Yes. >> Yeah. To put on the ballot. Yes. >> Or 50. Yeah. We got it. >> Good. Okay. We have a second. >> Somebody got a second. >> Second. >> A second. Silia. Okay, we'll start voting on the end. Michael, yay or nay? >> Yay. >> Bridget, >> Yay. Sylvia, >> yay. >> Siliana, I'm sorry. Yay. Margaret, >> yay. >> I also I'm a yay. So, that would be unanimous for the bond for 50 million. Okay. The next item uh would be in the same motion. >> Real quick, I'm sorry, and I don't mean to interrupt. Just clarification, Jim. Do we need to adopt vote to adopt the resolution? to send to the county for the 50 million just still so our language is >> I think the uh motion for the bond was sufficient to get us there.
So really doing that small group work and then looking at where was the consensus and the agreement across the small groups is how we came up with these values that every time we looked at a consideration, we went back to. And so for me that was a super important part of the process that we went through. And I just want to make sure that you guys knew that that we took it very seriously when we did that work. And now I'll turn it over to um other members of the team to start presenting some of the recommendations. I'm Amber Wickstrom. I'm the district technology integration coach. Um, the I know the benefits have already been approved, but because it's a package, I'll tell you a little bit about our process there. Um, we know that rising costs of health care has been difficult for everyone.
Um at 2:00 at Tahanto. Um so, we're we're very excited. We have how many? 70? About 70? About 70 students that are graduating from, which is the work that we [clears throat] do every single day here in this school committee to make sure those kids are walking across the stage. Um so, you'll all be officially invited. It's 7:00 June 7th at 2:00 p.m. Thank you. All right. Thank you. All in favor? Aye. Anyone against? We're adjourned. Thank you. Thanks, everybody. Thank you.
We don't get much of an opportunity to be in front of the board uh in a formal manner other than during the retreats. And so I did want to take just a little extra time uh this evening to introduce uh two of our other very key uh team members that will also be here to help assist in answering any questions that you may have. as your director of transportation uh s uh president Munda you indicated for the board how teamwork was so important in your report tonight and that uh really set uh with me because that is so key and that's what's key to the s success in our transportation department is the uh is the teamwork and so my role in the transportation department other than setting the vision and making sure that we hire a team that not only loves children but can also manage heavy equipment is also to make sure that we're being fiscally responsible u that our budgets are balanced that we're taking advantage of our warranty work and I also feel really a second role for you and that's as your fleet manager because we don't have somebody filling that position so it's my responsibility to make sure that we're keeping track of life cycle costs of your fixed assets and uh that we're getting the warranty work done and that we have adequate equipment because We like to think that we're a key part of the success of the district by having reliable on-time performance so our students are getting to school to learn.
Um but yeah, in the second motion for the override um if you use the word resolution and election that would be preferable, but I I'm not concerned with the first one. I think I think we were fine. >> You're talking to a hick here. So you're lucky you're getting whole sentences out of me. That snowflake education's rearing its head again. I don't know. >> Resolution ordering a special. >> Now it's on. There we go. Okay. Resolution for a budget a special budget override. a resolution for a special override election to be held in and for the district declaring that the deadline for submitting arguments for and against the election to the Navajo County School Superintendent as August 6th, 2026 at 5:00 pm and approving the governing board's argument in support of the special maintenance and operation budget override election. I have a motion. >> Oh, did I mess that up?
Um, and our insurance, um, in order to keep it from going up more, we increased the out-of-pocket maximum. Um, the district is willing to absorb some of the costs. And we also want to develop a committee that would help educate and learn more about benefits in the district. Um, and there's the precision product that we have adopted that is the $10,000 in PTO and a age 55 trigger. And the insurance benefits help us keep our teachers healthy and attract and retain teachers. And similarly with the precision product, it helps us attract and retain teachers by being competitive and providing savings to not only the employee when they cash out at the end of their hopefully 55 or more years, but to the district as well. Right. Um, can you go back to that slide, Ms. Shapiro? The one where it says one more. Oh, sorry.
And so with that, I'd like to uh introduce Mr. Timothy Ford and give him just a moment as our assistant director to share with you some of his responsibilities and then I'll introduce uh Mr. Myignasio and then I'll jump right into the presentation. Mr. Ford. Um, hi everybody. Hi board. Mr. Diaz. Uh, my name is Timothy Ford. I'm the assistant director of the transportation department. Uh, I also wear a couple other hats. I also do all the routing for the department as well as our community outreach. So, us reaching out to all the schools and participating in school events and community events when possible. Uh, I also coordinate the white fleet for our department. So, all of our white fleet units, I make sure that they're being maintained, they're being inspected, and making sure that they're staying in good running condition. Um, I also, uh, I also manage most of the technology within our department.
>> Oh, no, we >> for 15%. I got I >> 15% override. >> Just say it. >> Yeah. Thank you. Okay, >> Michael. >> I'm not going to repeat a motion. >> I'll move to adopt a resolution uh calling for a budget override election. >> Okay. Second from Margaret. >> Okay, Michael. Yay or nay? >> Yay. >> Bridget. >> Yay. Silian. >> Yay. >> Margaret, yay. David, yay. All right.
Russell, sorry. Oh, Dr. Larson, sorry. >> [laughter] >> Somebody go back. Just somebody take it back. Um and just to clarify, the district will observe all of the $40,000 increase, not just some of that $40,000 increase, correct? Um yes, because it met the budget that had been set aside for when we pre you know, obviously when we go through the budget process, we have to kind of like uh try to determine what those increases are going to be. Our budget was adjusted enough so that it could absorb that cost once the teams had decided to make the recommendation to increase the maximum out of pocket. So it was a shared cost with our with our employees. Our employees stepped up to the plate and by increasing that maximum out of pocket, that that will directly affect. But we do have some numbers that'll show we we feel like we kind of came to the table with that.
So, like route finder, our tablets, and any type of other little issues that that we might run into with our technology. >> Thank you, Mr. And then Mr. Miles Ignasio, who is our office manager.
Next item on the agenda is item 3.2 to to approve the revised budget for fiscal year 2026. Uh >> Courtney, you want to address that real quick? Uh and I know there are probably some questions in regard to that. Michael, you had a question. >> Thank you. >> Yes. Great. Thank you. >> Thank you for coming. You saved us. >> Thank you. >> This evening, we need to um we need I need to put the revised budget in front of the board. Uh this is a this is a mandatory requirement from Department of Education. It has to be a board approved by May 15th. Um we have already had so we had um we had our adopted budget back in August. We've got our um or July rather. we had our our revised budget um in the fall and then um this is our final revision.
Um and it also was a very high item on our employee survey. So the team felt it was really important. But again, because of our budget process, that's why we were allowed to absorb it and also again, only because of those decisions to increase that maximum out of pocket. Okay. And then since we're in the last question that I have and this is more for the team, if they were to ever get have some feedback and saying, "Oh my gosh, that out of pocket was way too much. What do we do?" Um how do we find out if there's a feedback? Do we have some kind of way of making sure that we're getting that feedback back from our staff? Yeah. I mean, actually one of the really exciting bullets on there is that we're developing that committee. That committee will be very interested in gathering feedback and also information that we can share.
Uh good evening board members one. My name is Miles Agnosia. I'm the office manager for the transportation department. Uh like Timothy stated, I wear many hats. Uh I also do coordinate with the school regarding uh student behavior, student disciplinary. Uh I also work hand in hand with the ESS director regarding our ESS students. um and also engage with the community a lot regarding um feedback either negative or positive from the community and things of that nature. >> Thank you, sir. >> We also give Mr. Agnosio the title of dean of students because that is very much his responsibility. So anytime uh they spend a lot of time reviewing videos from our equipment uh if a student has cut seeds or uh you know there's some type of damage or that all has to be communicated not only with the schools but back to the parents and handles all the disciplinary measures.
