That week. Yeah. I was on the hiring committee for Britney and I'm I would be happy to be involved in this one as well, too. Um I feel Good enough for me. >> [laughter] >> I would I would move to appoint Tina to uh uh the assistant superintendent for uh >> [laughter] >> student services. All in favor. Thank you, Tina. So, I have I already penciled it in, but >> [laughter] >> I'm going to say who who There was a lot of preface for a for a a pretty known outcome, man. Exactly. Yeah. As long as she was available for us, okay. >> And and awesome. That's So, that's that's that. Great. Thanks. >> All right, Jim, it's your turn. We're up to the superintendent's evaluation. Do you want a a hard copy in your hand? >> Mike, I'll let you So, you can follow along.
30 seconds. Go there. Get some shots. Right away. Right away. HERE YOU GO, LADY. I DON'T KNOW WHY YOU RIGHT AWAY. >> UM I DON'T KNOW. I'M USING YEAH, I'M USING THE SAME. That's good. Ready? All right. That's us. Mhm. Get Scoreboard. Okay. Oh, crap. My fault. Did you yell at the scoreboard? Yeah, they are. Uh-huh. Red. Oh, came for the broadcast. Oh. Red. Got you. Got you. >> I know. All right. Okay. All right. I appreciate it. When there's emotion work out it's all good. Oh, that's fun. Yeah. It's like it's like >> Mr. Director, are you ready? Are you Are you on Are you on cam one and two? I'll get on that. And you got that, right? Can you um show me how this works? So you have So this is zoom out. Cut to camera one. I'm going to show Xavier a bit about this camera.
Dorr passes it over to Brown. Brown up to Drake. Drake down to Dorr Oh, to Pillard. Pillard finds it. Nice he finds the top of the net. Nice shot by Pillard. And four to two now is the score. Raiders are able to beat um Perrella, but I don't know. You got to You got to just keep keep going trying to get more by this guy. 2:52 left to go in the half. Ben Savage winning the draw. Savage is waiting for the some of his team to join him. He's a face-off get-off guy. Fogo is the nickname for that. Atwood has it right now. Atwood trying to go in. Hands Atwood's shot berries. Tough play there. >> [cheering] >> By a tough kid, great goal. By Oliver, he's got two in a row now. Three to four. Is the score. 2:16 left to go in the second quarter.
Would that charger then revert to that owner? Would we have to remove it? Like what's the process of that? >> That's a great question. Excuse me. Um I will look into a little bit more of that because I've never actually had that question before. um that I don't think many people assume that their building is going to be sold. So um I will get back to you guys with that. Um I can imagine that because it's ti well for the grant purposes it's tied to the address itself. So then I would assume that it would stay with the building. Um so you yeah because there are different mass programs where there's the public versus the private. Um, and that really just defers to the um the incentive amount. So, if we if it's p if it's already public and the grant has already been approved and we've already installed it, then there's um there's not really a stipulation where it's like in three years from now, uh the building becomes a private building.

Um, another bill that we were watching closely was SB427. This was the dual credit bill that we talked about that Dr. Casemiro uh testified on both last year and this year. Well, this year, it was a different bill number last year, but it was the same concept. Um, this was one that passed and it's going to be uh it's going to require the state to appoint a dual credit concurrent enrollment coordinator at the state level. Uh we were hoping there'd be something a little bit more regional that would that would help us, you know, do some of the the work here between Westcon and ourselves and some of the partner districts. Uh but nonetheless, it's a step in the right direction. So, so I think it it's uh it's a good sign. And there's also money in there to pay for some um credits and fee waivers uh for students that are taking dual credit courses.
Um the mechanic shop HVAC got re reddone because when we started the H or the the warehouse project, we discontinued the gas service. Um and the mechanic shop heater and HVAC was ran on gas, so we had to upgrade that system. Sierramont and Ruskin both have their PA and security completed. So those those are up and working now and they're working wonderfully. Okay, on to the key. So this is the key of the the program schedule. The next three slides are the program schedule. And onto the pictures. So here's the pictures of the underground work that's happening over at the MOT building. As you can see, there's trenching and pipes. Those are conduit and either water lines or um electrical lines. And so once this is completed, we can build a slab and then bring our building in and erect it. Here is the mechanic shop new HVAC.
Maybe it's a person who supported you, a challenge you overcame, or an opportunity that changed your life. Gratitude has a way of grounding us, especially during moments of change. With the busyness of life, it is easy to forget to pause, embrace the silence, and intentionally practice gratitude. In the wise words of American author Robert Brault, "Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things." Graduates, please know how deeply grateful I am for each of you and how truly honored I feel to have walked alongside you for part of your journey. I'm so thankful for the Village staff whose daily dedication to meeting students where they are and helping them grow is at the core of everything we do. I'm also incredibly appreciative to the Village community for the kindness and support you showed me during my first year here.
So, we're going to recommend elimination of the of the tennis program. Girls soccer has lost participation to the point where it's not sustainable right now. And the girls golf program has the same issue. And I'm going to address an issue about this in just a second. So, if there's a concern, if you'll let me get to the next couple slides and we can come back and talk >> and then when you're done, let me know because I would love to ask you a question. And then we're going to reduce elementary chair, excuse me, department chair at the at the secondary and elementary level given the smaller class, excuse me, smaller school size. In some cases, we don't need to have as many um individuals that um in terms of department chairs because we have smaller groups. If if you have one department or one grade level for two or three grade levels of elementary, do you need three grade level leaders?
At this time, I'd like to invite our governing board members to join me down on the floor as we recognize these extraordinary careers. And now I'll turn it over to our communications director, Michelle Terry, to introduce each of our retirees. Well, welcome everyone. Tonight I have the distinct pleasure of celebrating some truly remarkable individuals with you. those who have donated many years to serving the students of Maricopa Unified School District. As they step into a new chapter filled with travel and grandchildren, hobbies, and no alarm clocks, we take this moment to honor them. I'm proud to recognize this wonderful group of educators and professional support staff. Whatever your role, I assure you, you've made a difference in the lives of our students. On behalf of our superintendent and the Maricopa Unified School District governing board and the nearly 9,900 students we serve, I extend to each of you our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation.
But next year we'll get to add interventionists to that because the state changed a few of those laws that we're following. Our third goal is our attendance and you can see where COVID hit and our percentage has dropped but every year our percentage continues to climb and so our goal is that we will get 97% for this year. um which is much much higher than what it was. And when Kathy took over, she implemented a lot of fun things to get the kids to come to school. And so some of the things that she implemented were brag tags. And you might continue to see some brag tags on some of the slides to come. So they have a keychain that hangs on their backpack and every time they accomplish something or do well, they get a new tag to show off and brag about. Um, so one of those is attendance related and she does perfect attendance, but she also does excellent attendance because sometimes we're sick and we don't want them to just give up coming to school.
>> And so, >> you know, and we're older. We're kind of not making a we have a little side hustle here or there, but um yeah, >> you know, it's there's and and I'm not suggesting that there's people in far worse situations and they have children and they young children. >> Um but it's just that >> the the world just two and a half% year after year after year >> um doesn't make it. I mean, many towns too have already had successful overrides. You well know that we we've not been >> we have never passed an operational override, >> right? And they they're different than they are very different than debt exclusions. When you're borrowing money, it's like a mortgage, right? When you buy, >> you buy you you build it, you're done with paying it, it goes away, >> right? >> But as you said, so um any before I let you go, so again, I've been chatting with Claudia Bennett and about the operational override that's coming.
Standard, optional basic, and optional grain. So, you can go as low as 0.13, which is going to help people because, you know, it's it's a little crazy out there with all everything from your homeowner's insurance to your car insurance to your food to everything. Which is why I think that program's great because there there was one that you're specifically paying more to get more renewables. And people in an economic position to do that may choose to do that. But if they're not, they have a chance to get a lower rate. Okay. Uh if people saw our first conversation, heard our first conversation, um because this is something too. We started a list of bad girl rules and uh eventually uh we'll probably publish them. But I'm just going to write down one. Uh Bad girls share information. Um it sometimes So, along with that sharing information, I I think we probably have time.
Let's see if you can get the other one. I've read it. I disagree with it, but I've read Oh, stop it. It's kind of long, but um it's my last meeting, so I do what I want. Yeah, you do. Yeah. [laughter] You read the whole thing. It's your last chance to say what you really feel about him, right? >> That's what Paul said. Now, you can tell him, you know, what you really did never liked about him the whole time. Okay, everybody. I'll wait till he's listening. Yeah, no kidding. James. No, I follow that. It's okay. Over the course of the 2025-2026 school year, Superintendent Jim Adams demonstrated exceptional leadership, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to the students, staff, and families of Ashland Public Schools. The School Committee's overall rating of exemplary reflects not only the successful achievement of district goals, but also the extraordinary manner in which Mr.
Okay. Zoom rocker, this way to come out. Wait, what? Oh. This way to come out. This way to come in. You got that? >> Yeah. And this is basically Yeah. Um and then this is the pan. So really that's all we're going to be doing. You don't use these for these four? Those buttons we don't really use except for setting the channels. I see. >> [laughter] >> So like you can get a shot here. So remember when you said we prioritize these. We prioritize uh slow shots over fast shots. So basically we don't want to be doing like that. Like cuz that's too quick. We need to have a nice and steady and zoom Our job is to zoom in whenever there's action. So I see that guy walking over there, for example. It's not very exciting, but it's it's something moving, you know? And we want to try to keep a consistent level more so than like cuz this is harder to do than like that.
Sometimes you just got to go with your seniors, you know. Bringing the heavy artillery. Atwood no stranger to the back of the net. I don't quite have a great nickname for him, but he does deserve one. Great Sand goes back to Weitzman. Weitzman to Abscess, 2 minutes left to go in the half. Oler to Weitzman, Weitzman up to Sand. Sand fires a pass. Oh, couldn't quite go to Atwood. Atwood chops. Tate Tate Logan looks like he's hurting a little bit from that one. And Atwood going to the box. Oh, no. What about? Yep. Huh? Yeah, it's going to be Raider ball. Fowler dishes it off to Cavalero. Right up to Hartnett to Atwood to Olson to Atwood to Hartnett. Fowler Cavalero Cavalero to Montemayor Montemayor down to Olson. They're just working the ball around and what a save from Perella. Another nice try, nice shot by Atwood.
Um so now that that charger remains public to the public. Yeah. Um, and then to your note on the pricing, a great way is to really just kind of look up what the local like what surrounding towns are charging. Um, right now we're finding in this specific area roughly about 45 cents a kilowatt as an average. Um, I've seen as high as a dollar in some places, which is really absurd. it it you kind of want to base it off of what like home uh kilowatt charges are being charged to homeowners and you know bumping it up a little bit. Um >> what's the I'm sorry. What's the name of the the charging app that we'd all be using? >> It would be Red E. >> Red E. >> Yeah. Autel with red E. >> Like re D. >> Yep. Red and then letter E.

Um and that's really the big big news on the education front. There were a few more bills that I I think Linds Jacobs will dig into when she gets here. um and and they have a full uh session wrap up report. So um in the next two weeks we'll we'll have a lot more information. >> Thank you. >> Okay. And just uh just two more items. Uh so we have Kota this Saturday, May 16th, and then it's in your pocket. That's from 11:00 to 4:00. And it looks like we also have Joe Papa Day from 1 to 4. So, if you go to Kota at 11:00 and stay for 2 hours, then you can head on over to Joe Pepin Day and you can get both in. Um, great uh food um face painting at at Kota. Amazing artwork. Your children's artwork will be there posted somewhere.
So that's both the two electric units. The one on the left is called a resinor. That's just a big heater. The one in the mechanic shop office that is a called a split system. that does heating and a mini split system that does heating and cooling. Here is a great picture of the new playground at tree. Here's another angle of it. And the small uh piece of equipment that looks like a circle is the one that we're most likely going to be replacing. Um, this is a rendering of the Northwood window um, replacement because we wanted to kind of show you what we were doing. So, as you can see, the the darker blue panels, not the door where it says 303, that's the door under it. But the darker blue panels is going to be a Hardy Backer um solid piece of Hardy backer, which is a c cementatious piece of um, sighting.
