So, it's something really cool. But this is achieved thanks to our students, our families, and our sponsors through the Nutriane A Solution, Marian's Greenhouse, and the Madison Community Grocery Project. And I would like to introduce our awesome kindergarten teacher, Miss Katie Sour. >> Good evening. We saved the best for last. maybe. Okay. Where Sim and feathers meet. So, this has been a big initiative at Deputy um the coupe and the ability to have this was made possible by all these wonderful community partners. Big Creek Metal Works, Growing Minds Farmtop, um Madison Community Grocery Project, and Neutrorain A Solutions. So, in 2023, it was my third year teaching preschool, and I decided that my classroom needed two hatch chickens. Um, I was ecstatic that Miss Donor agreed. And this learning experience has transformed into one of the most cherished times of the school year. Um, extending beyond just the four-year-old classroom.
What I can say is that Ashland is unique. Paul just mentioned that. Everyone says this to me. How do we do it? How can you have consistency in people so dedicated to the schools doing what is best for everyone? Well, it starts with the chair and permeates through the rest of the committee. Her expectations are high, clear, and always on point. Laurie will never apologize for her tireless, sometimes straightforward demeanor when advocating for Ashland students. Heck, I was in fear of Lori in one of our first meetings with FinCom and the select board. I'll never forget that moment in my conference room where she challenged everyone to do what was right for kids. No minced words, no quarter given, just a little Pennsylvanian with some Framingham South mixed in. >> [laughter] >> I can't [clears throat] list all the accomplishments APS has made under her guidance and leadership.
Let's go, Wade! Wait, where are they? Are you Are you taking both of them? Well, that's Four minutes. Fast break. He turned around and >> Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Jeez. Yeah, it's it's behind right now. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Uh. It's too close. I CAN'T GET THAT. I MEAN, YOU CAN MOVE THIS VOICE ONTO OH, THERE WE GO. YEAH. YEAH, I can't even make it from here. Which is >> [laughter] >> Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Yeah. Let's go. >> [cheering] [applause] [cheering] >> LET'S GO. LET'S LET'S GO. LET'S GO. LET'S LET'S GO. >> [cheering] >> LET'S GO. LET'S GO. LET'S GO. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Woah. See that? There you go. >> [cheering] >> Let's go. It's a good shot. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Can we count on you to get back? Yeah. No way.
>> All right, Olson. Listen on that near side. Going in getting some centering position. Thought about it. Passes the Atwood. Atwood now. Atwood shot save Oh, it squeaks in. What a rip. >> [cheering] >> So, I mean, that was crazy cuz Perella made the save. That was one of those things too where it's like, you know, I mean, you got to give him credit for being honest, but, you know, sometimes you would see a goalie quickly pull that off before like a ref could even see it and it would just be a big question mark, but touché there by Will Perella. Just seeing it's a goal and stopping it. So, 9 to 7 now, Raiders are up. Just under 5 minutes to go in the third. Biggest Raider lead of the game. Pretty sure. Tyler Savarese absorbing a check, bringing it up. Getting stick checked, good positioning there.
I don't know. But still the time you know that you're going to pay somebody to do the management key piece. >> Yeah, we do offer uh training uh after install as well to to help with that. Um and it does depend on um who you decide is going to be the admin uh that takes care of that. But I can absolutely get you some references from uh similar situations and similar school committees and things. Absolutely. >> Great. Okay. Member Deniv, >> are these level two chargers or >> They are level two chargers. Yes. >> Yeah. >> Unfortunately, there is no DC fast charging incentives and it is thousands and thousands of dollars more to put those in. But um it also uh level two chargers compared to the DC fast I'm sure everybody knows the the DC fast they take minimal amount of time to charge where uh the level twos take maybe two to four hours depending on actual the type of EV ch car that you're driving.
But I can absolutely get you some references from uh similar situations and similar school committees and things. >> Absolutely. >> Great. Oh, okay. >> Are these level two chargers or >> They are level two chargers. Unfortunately, there is no DC fast charging incentives and it is thousands and thousands of dollars more to put those in. But um it also uh level two chargers compared to the DC fast, I'm sure everybody knows the the DC fast, they take minimal amount of time to charge where uh the level twos take maybe two to four hours depending on actual the type of EV char that you're driving. So, it really kind of depends on the type of car that you're driving as well. >> Okay. Unless there are no burning questions, it sounds like you've got some information that you're going to come back to us with. Um, we're not obviously not taking a vote on this right now.
Um the upcoming summer leadership conference, the delegate assembly, the convention in November, and the new board member orientation leadership conference in December. Um, see Louisa if you're interested in attending those. Anybody else? No. Nothing. Okay. All right. With that, um, want to thank, uh, the everybody from the school for welcoming us today. Everybody at Stanley Ruff. Uh, we really appreciate, uh, the warm welcome we got this evening. Um, do I hear a motion to adjourn?
Um but it's going to be a negotiation piece between them and the governor. So uh really important time right now that they hear from us and let us know that, you know, we want what's expected in law for us to receive. So those are the two points that I think it's really important for everyone to be advocating at this time. And um and then uh the second thing that I wanted to share is our city of San Jose is also in the midst of their budget discussions. And an area I think our community should monitor is any budget reductions that are being proposed in terms of safety and safety that not only impacts our community at large but our schools. So today I had a meeting with our city of San Jose school collaborative and one of the budget cuts that is being made is to our school liaison unit with San Jose PD.
I will be forever grateful for your support and guidance. Arden Carif Peterson. >> [screaming] >> I want to thank uh share a big thank you to my mom who has always supported me through everything. My best friend Kayla, who I couldn't have done this without. And my lovely village teachers. >> [applause] >> Charlie Felton. >> [cheering] >> Thank you Mom, Dad, and Cole for always being there with your constant support. Thank you to my teachers, especially Kevin, Sherry, and Moose for being the best mentors for me. And a big thank you to my friends. I'll forever be grateful for each of you. Dylan Fish. I want to thank DJ Khaled. They didn't believe in us, but God did. And shout out to Scarlett Johansson. I will be attending BYU-Idaho. Addison Mackenzie Gassmeyer. Thank you to my family, friends, and teachers for your support. It means everything to me.
Hog and I will come back with something, but just keep that in mind that the 62,000 is going to have to be cut from somewhere. And so if so, we have a timeline. If you don't agree with that cut, just understand we're running into a time crunch by June to get the proposed budget finalized. So I'll ask you the question at the end when I get done. You can give me direction. >> Okay. Can I can I finish what I was saying, please? So, let's say that this year soccer doesn't have enough girls. So, maybe we just don't get rid of the program. We just suspend it till the next year to when there can be enough. Or when do we say like how many kids on the tennis team will constitute having a coach? I mean, I don't know if three >> I I think that we pay that would be that's like having >> like a personal trainer, you know what I mean?
Feel like it's the best. Um, we also are going to be expanding our AP courses for next year. Um, as well as just program enhancements in general. So next year we'll allow students to participate in ROTC and band on a case-byase basis. Um so that way again we're not minimizing um some of their extracurricular things as well as not suffering at all in their academics as well. And then again continue we have a 98% graduation rate. The goal is 100. Um so I'm hopeful they'll get there this school year. I'm sure we will. Um but then again continue to just progress in all things and continue to reimagine what online learning looks like yearto year.
Students from both lower and upper grades along with family members and community members, they all eagerly anticipate Hatch Day. Um, our Oh, I missed that slide. Sorry. So, it all started with a question. We wanted to keep the chickens. Um, it took us a little bit to convince Miss Stoner that we could keep them. So, our STEM coach, um, Miss Coen and teachers worked with our third graders and community, um, partners, Jacob and Sarah Dart, through the design process of building the chicken coupe. Jacob was a former deputy student, and their family owns and operates Big Creek Metal Works. Um, students were presented with the problem to design a coupe. Um, they researched chickens and designed the coupe that fit the criteria needed for the project. And when they finished it, the darts constructed the C coupe and brought it out to the school and we got to see him haul it and drop it off.
But, I know it's many. Highlighted by school start times, advocacy for a new school, higher chapter 70 funding, and creating equitable opportunities for all students with free full-day kindergarten. Let me wrap this up by saying I'm the most fortunate superintendent in Massachusetts. >> [clears throat] >> This is where it's hard. >> [snorts] >> Lori has not only been advocate for me, >> [sighs] >> she's been a listening ear when my life was in turmoil. Not only a boss, but a mother to me, ensuring, along [clears throat] with other members of this committee, to make sure I took care of me, so I could take care of the district. No other committee or committee chair would take this approach. I'm confident of that across the Commonwealth. She sets a standard hard to match. She But, she also leaves behind a highly functioning board >> [snorts] >> that understands its role in advocacy.
No way. I'm actually It's cut. Yeah, what does Fade do? No way. I just Who? Oh, yeah. Let's go here. No way. >> Oh, man. It's really cold. OH. OH. DEFENSE. OOH. I SEE IT. I'M TELLING YOU. SHOOT. OOH. I see it. Take Brody. He's got to tie his shoe. No. That's behind. All right. Watch out when you throw that. Get it, Manny. GET IT. GO. I GOT IT. GO TO THE SLIDE. GO. YOU'RE TALKING TO UH GARRISON. CALM DOWN. HOLD IT, SETTLE. GET IT, I'M OUT. ALL RIGHT. I HAVE THREE. I THINK I HAD TWO. I FIGURED I didn't want to do it. No, I didn't want to do it either, you know. It's like And I don't really like Oh, it's straight. I have to get six slices. Grab the one. Yeah, I would have one twice. I have like oh, I didn't know that.
Use the hand as the shield. These Savarese boys are are good. >> [snorts] >> Fowler has it. Fowler running back, passes to Atwood. Atwood brings down passes to Montemoyer. Montemoyer fires a pass for Abrams. Abrams getting checked by Drake and he's going to get a call. Drake, that is. As the Canary hits the turf. This is Harnett's pass up. Loose in front, Perella. Loses it down. And yep, cross-check. One man. Yep, one minute penalty. Jason Drake on his knee in the box. Four minutes on the clock. Third quarter. See if the Raiders can go up by three. Next goal, I feel, is pretty big. Looking the ball around. Fowler to Harnett. Who is that? Atwood. Atwood down to Olson. Fowler. Fowler to Cavallaro. Cavallaro, good pass to Harnett. Great defense from Gray there. And look at that hustle from Harnett keeping the ball alive. And oh, Medway unable to reel it in.
So it really kind of depends on the type of car that you're driving as well. >> Great. Okay. Unless there are no burning questions. It sounds like you've got some information that you're going to come back to us with. Um, we're not obviously not taking a vote on this right now. Um, we'll probably bring it up again next month. Um, if you have questions that come up between now and then, please send them to Roland so Roland can send them to Kendra. Um, and we can get some answers for folks. But thank you for having appreciated having you. Thank you. >> Thank you. All right. Um, moving on to reports of the administration. Did folks have a chance to read through the reports?
Um, probably bring it up again next month. Um, if you have questions that come up between now and then, please send them to Roland so Roland can send them to Kendra and we can get some answers for folks. Thank you for appreciated having you. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> All right. Um, moving on to reports of the administration. Did folks have a chance to read through the reports?
And so that program has been cut by the city over the years. I mean, really, there's been two officers that have handled all of the city of San Jose's schools, and they're amazing. They're really great. Um, they're very accessible. You know, when our principles call and need support, it's nice to know we have that direct contact that's being removed. Those individuals also um also support uh any kind of educational programs that we want to offer to our parents to learn more about gang prevention, drug prevention, they will no longer be able to provide that. And then a third piece that's also problematic um is they're also our partners in reviewing our school safety plans. And that is actually a requirement in EDC code that we work in collaboration with our law enforcement agencies and they let us know that they may not be able to provide that support.
I plan to major in health science and become a radiological technician and I'm excited for what's ahead. Gray Gabbard I want to say thank you to my mom and dad for being my biggest supporters, my sister, and lastly my best friend for listening to me. You guys got me here. Sydney Elise Gallahar I give all the glory to God for this moment and thank my family for being a constant source of love and support. Congratulations to the class of 2026. I can't wait to see the places our next adventures take us. Amaya Grace Gordon >> [screaming] >> I would like to thank my friends and family for helping me to be my best. Overall, I would like to thank God because if it weren't for him, I wouldn't be where I am today. After high school, I will attend cosmetology school and I'm excited to see God's plans for me.
That >> I I just think that we maybe we need to see like how many kids actually come out and maybe we just suspend it for the year and then bring it back if they can get more people. I know that's what at one point they did with Palm, >> right? >> At one point that they they had enough girls and they they did Palm, but then the next year they didn't have enough girls. So then it it kind of went away >> and we can do that and that's not a problem. But you understand that goes in the budget. Can't sit here and say that's not in the budget while we make that plan. And so again, there's going to have to be a cut somewhere else. >> Are these things eliminated forever? No, they're not. >> Okay? >> Just like with flag football, we didn't have girls flag football.
