Let me know when we're live. We're good. Okay. I want to call the meeting to order. This is a special meeting. Can I get a roll call, please? Ms. Makronis? Present. >> Ms. Wyman? Present. Mr. Alexander? Here. Mr. Carlson? Here. Mr. Holt is absent. Can I get a motion to adopt the agenda? I move we adopt the agenda. Can I get a second? Second.
All right, I have 5:30. Uh, like to call the Crawford'sville uh, school board meeting to order. All board members and administrators are present, including Mr. Mclofflin, who is zooming in from his vacation. Now, that is real dedication. So, thank you.
It is 6:30. We will start this meeting with the pledge. And before we do so, Dr. Kepler. Thank you, Mr. Wright. Good evening, everyone. Thank you for coming. Thank you, Mr. Wright. Thank you, everybody. I appreciate you coming this evening.
Good evening everyone and welcome to the Ashland Planning Board meeting of Thursday, May 14th. A reminder to everyone that the meeting is being broadcast and recorded. Um I will call the meeting to order at 7:17. And first thing on our agenda is the chair and clerk's report. Think uh I believe we just received um one email from the last meeting. I think that came in right at the beginning, actually right before our last meeting, so we couldn't really address it. And um it actually um at least the email I'm recalling actually has something to do with the um with the James Road uh project. It was a resident in that neighborhood um kind of wanting to keep informed about the project and um um wanting to basically kind of wanting to know what's going on, you know, in the neighborhood. So it might be something that you can pass on um to these guys and see if there may be something they want to they want to address.
Yeah, just screw something up. That's pretty bad. He's not even >> Okay. I'm sorry. Yeah, I'm sorry. >> [music] [music] >> Good evening and welcome to Ashland High School for today's Tri-Valley League girls lacrosse match between Holliston Panthers and your Ashland Clockers. At this time we'd like to invite the families of the Ashland seniors down to the 50-yard line. Is that loud up here? It doesn't seem like it's very loud. I think so. The parents? Yeah. Check this, only two. >> [snorts] [snorts] >> Again, welcome to Ashland High School for tonight's matchup between Ashland High School and the Holliston girls lacrosse team. Tonight is senior night. Before we begin honoring the Ashland seniors, we would like to take the moment to honor the 11 seniors from Holliston who have undoubtedly had left an impression on their program and school. Kelly DePoto Jael Oliver, Sarah Shellings, Abigail Langen, Maeve Jordan Lila Feldman Bridget Malvey Avery Ash Amelia Cain Amelia Langdon and Autumn Smith.
We won't even consider those until after you uh after the second reading of the policies. Um, and I'm only concerned with the ones you say that we don't have. There were two or two two, right? Three of them, right? But for the for not just for you all, but for the public as well. Um, uh, the um, yes, and we can look at those specifically if you want. Um, uh, this could take forever. Well, and I will tell you these came out this this policy advisory came out in like September or October and we've been so busy with other stuff we didn't get to it. Next month we will look at at section G and it's 500 pages. Oh my goodness. It is the biggest section in the policy book. So I am going through it into three parts. Well, that would mean we wouldn't have it approved until August if we broke it into three parts.
>> Any discussion? All those in favor? >> I. >> The agenda is adopted. Can we please stand for the pledge of allegiance and a moment of silence? >> I pledge algiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Okay. >> Okay. Do you have Yes. >> Okay. Recognitions and presentations. Uh can I We're going to adopt the resolution. >> The governing board and administration wish to recognize the valuable district employees retiring at the conclusion of the 2025 2026 school year. These outstanding individuals have provided indispensable services to the district in support of its academic mission. I move the governing board adopt the resolution honoring district retirees. Can I get a second? >> Second.
Any discussion? All those in favor? Aye. Aye. >> Aye. Uh new business. Uh-oh. We need to conduct an executive session. Can I get a motion? I move that the board moves to executive session. Second. Um All those All those in favor? Aye. Aye.
I ask everyone to join me in the pledge of allegiance. Flag is over here. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> All right. First up, we're going to have a quick spotlight, I guess, a spotlight on admin. We're to address uh today's excitement. >> Dr. Reker. >> Yes. All right. Good afternoon, everyone. Yeah, spotlight on excellence. So, if you haven't heard or experienced it yourself, right, we received a report of a bomb threat at CHS today. Um, a students irresponsible comments led to a report to 911. We appreciate that students and a parent followed our call for all of our school community to say something if they hear something, see something, or sense something. While this event caused a major disruption to the school day, such as disrupting AP testing, I'm truly proud of how the entire school community in local emergency responders responded.
Today, we're going to do the pledge of allegiance, and that's something that we always use and do before every school board meeting. But tonight, it's going to be just a little bit different. And I'm very excited about that.
Okay. Um All right. That's the only uh email, I believe, that was out there relative to Planning Board. So we will move on to uh public comment, general public comment. I don't think we have a huge amount of people online um and the room is quite empty, but if there is any public comment we'll take it now, but seeing none we will go on to the next on our agenda, um which is opening the general public meetings. The first one is um on our agenda is 37 James Road. It's an A&R that we uh started to look at last time. There were just um I believe there's kind of one question hanging out there, but if we want to put it up on the screen to refresh our memories. Um and that question was about um Well, who's who's going to speak on this? Is is George you?
Congratulations on making it this far. I'm sure you'll be missed. At this time, we'd like to direct everyone's attention to the field as tonight we honor Ashland girls lacrosse class of 2026. These two seniors will leave this team having worked together over the last four years to set a high standard for Ashland lacrosse through all their hard work, dedication, and passion. It is because of the of the knowledge and leadership of these individuals that the girls lacrosse program has such a bright future. On behalf of the teams, coaches, and the Ashland athletic department, and the conquered community, we wish you the best of luck in your future plans. And now introducing your Ashland seniors. First, number nine, captain Ashley Forrester. Escorted by her mother Rosemary, her dad Dave, her sister Lizzie, and her brother Tim. Ashley has been a four-year varsity player spending most of her career on defense making an impact at midfield this season.
And some of those things we have to some of the things in section G we have to share with employees before the school year starts or at you know during that week before school actually starts. And those just came literally just came out. So it's not like we've been sitting on those. Uh we haven't. Um um so uh the good news in in this is uh because one of the things that I did um was go look at because there are some recommended changes in here for regulations uh as well as the policies and um and there are four that when we get to them next month that I want to make some recommendations to you relative to whether we keep them or we keep our version or we go with theirs or whatever. So, uh, we won't address those tonight. We'll just talk about the policies.
>> Any discussion? >> All those in favor? >> I. Motion carries. >> Before we move on, we need to adopt the agenda. >> We did. No, we didn't. >> We did it first before the pledge of allegiance. Mhm.
I ask, other than the United States military, who could evacuate, account for, relocate, account for, and feed 700 people to a building already holding 600 people. other than a wellprepared school. Unfortunately, I took a peek at the uh chatter and saw somebody say, "Well, this is a reason not to send your kids to public schools." And I would say this is an absolutely a reason to send your kids a to Crawford'sville community schools and to public schools because only us with our resources and our people could handle such a situation. We have the corporation safety team led by Amber Reid and Dr. Brent Bokart that ensure we are ready for this event. We have an amazing CHS staff and CHS administrative team that responded with complete care and calm. We have a transportation department led by Betsy Ham that had 14 buses on site and ready to roll in 27 minutes.
So, I'm going to turn over saying the pledge of allegiance to Mrs. Birch, who is one of our teachers here at Bailey, and she has a sign language club and some students that she works with in her club doing American sign language. So, we're going to follow Mrs.
Do you just want to um kind of remind us of what you're doing on this A&R and then we can go from there. Just a brief reminder. Uh George Corners representing Mr. Wheeler on um 137 and uh 123 Pond Street. The um project combines two uh parcels of land in the bottom lower right is a 30,000 square foot parcel that he bought under prism and then the remaining of the land is about uh 14 acres shown um on James Road with a sort of an easement going through extending from James Road. Uh it's being combined to show five A&R lots. Three of them are right along on Pond Street and then there's an existing house in the back. Uh I think it's 37 James and then to the right of that, to the east of that, uh around that little square lot is the fifth lot or however they're numbered.
So far in her career, she has 36 goals and 16 assists. She was a TVL honorable mention all-star in 2025 and the team defensive player of the year in 2025. Ashley will attend the University of Kentucky to study business. Good luck in the future, Ashley. And now number 13, captain Lilly Fiddy. Lilly is escorted by her mother Heather and her father Dave and her sister Ava. Lilly has been a four-year varsity player being at the core of the attack the entire time. She currently has 159 goals and 42 assists in her career. She was TVL honorable mention all-star in 2025 and the team rookie of the year in 2023. Next year, Lilly will be attending San Diego State University to study biology on a pre-PA track. Congratulations, Lilly. >> Congratulations seniors. Best of luck in the future. Now that we ask if you please rise, remove your caps, and join us in the singing of our national anthem.
So, uh, Melinda says she wants to look at the ones with changes and I highlighted those things or that we don't have. I had notes on the side for those. So, if you just scroll down, Cass, until we see the little note on the side that says we don't even have this one. There you go. Sorry. Um, so, uh, we haven't even had this one in our policies, uh, that has to do with buildings and grounds maintenance.
