No good. Amelia Lane comes up with the ball. The goaltender number 34. That was a great definition of visual definition of a a fast good fast break. She just went right through everybody. Payton on the rise. She's going to get called for cross check. Going to keep that stick vertical. Laney Early also a little bit too horizontal and she will get that yellow card, I think. >> going to sit out for a couple of minutes for a stick near the head. I don't think it was near the head, Kev. I think it was in it. Okay. So, she got to be good in the neck that that player. So, unfortunately, you're going to be down for Is it a minute, I think, for the yellow? Two minutes. >> Two minutes for the yellow. So, at 9:25, she'll come back in. Even if they score, it is a locked penalty.
Um, does anybody in the audience have anything they want to say or any questions? Can we um Is anybody online? Can they call in and ask? We don't have anybody online. No, they can't because it's just we're streaming. Okay. So, and you So, you could end the you know, you could end the hearing if you want, whatever. Yeah, we will. Um, I need a motion to adjourn the budget hearing. I make a motion we adjourn the budget hearing. I'll second the motion. Okay. Motion pass. All those in favor? Yeah, we haven't voted yet. No. I Melinda Sabrasi. I Fred Rushton. I Charlene Diaz. I Barb Ziki. I Sheila Bernett. Okay. Item 3.1. Call to order. Here we go. Regular meeting. I call the call to order the regular meeting for Bullhead City School Board on Thursday, May 14th, 2026 at 6. Was it 607 or 68?
>> Any discussion? >> I have a question. >> Okay, go ahead. >> So, um how was this increase determined? >> Thank you, Mr. Carlson. We do an analysis every year when we're closing up our books um and and just throughout the year on each of our funds. There's a specific subfund for this account and when I was reviewing in about January or February, I noticed that we were in a deficit of tens of thousands of dollars which spurred an internal conversation on the direction we could go towards fixing that deficit. There were three identified pathways to doing so. One was increasing enrollment. And so we immediately implemented enrollment um recruitment effort, if you will, and we moved from 19 to 25 individuals um who were ready to to register for next school year. The other one was to raise tuition, and the third one was to um reduce staffing levels at that site.
And they thought it'd be great if they could find a a band to perform. And u Mr. Karns popped up in the meeting and said, "Well, my kid is in a marching band in Indiana. I wonder what it would take to fly them out to Clawwalk to uh to perform for us." uh when they discovered that we had 70 kids in the band program, they decided just to invite the drum line, which makes sense to me. Um so the current plan that last time I discussed this with Mr. Karns, uh earlier in the week, I believe believe yeah, Wednesday, so yesterday. This time I discussed it with Mr. Karns. Uh we'll be flying out of either Indianapolis or Chicago. He's in the process of getting um tickets right now for the 16 of us. We'll be flying out of uh either Indianapolis or Chicago the evening of July 1st we'll be landing in Ketchacan Alaska the next day on the 2nd from Ketchacan there's a three-hour ferry ride through the through the harbor and the bay to a town called Hollis Alaska and then from there he will have some of the community members and other people with buses to pick us up and take us the 30 minutes across to the west side of the island to Clawwalk the plan while we're there because we'll get there on the second um kids are probably going going to want to rest on the 2nd.
Any discussion? Welcome back. Mr. Paleska. I. Mr. Music. I. Mr. Tenario. I. And I vote I. And I believe Mr. Kurtz is in the audience this evening. Congratulations and welcome back to the team. Moving on with the business at hand, we have a facilities request this evening. I would like the board to consider the Civil Air Patrol request to use the community room, gym, and track on Tuesday evenings starting August 18th and concluding on May 25th, 2027. And the times that they will be using our facilities are from 6:30 to approximately 9:30 in the evening. I would recommend the board approve this request. So moved. Got you. Second? Does anybody? Second. There it is.
But >> But you might want to grab like the signage one, too. Is it a loading dock or loading area? In our case, it's a loading area. >> Yeah. So, we probably should not Did we say loading dock for the other We did say dock in Well, in their case, they had buildings and so But it is not a dock, but that's a different project. >> Yeah, true. Yeah, we should have it as area. Mhm. Sorry, can you just ignore my comments? Or it's in here. Okay, I can So, in this next one, the applicant has requested planning So, this is GCG talking. The applicant has requested that the planning board include a condition in its decision that prior to applying for a sign installation permit the applicant seek a determination from the building commissioner as to whether the sign location shown on the plan is located in the front or side yard setback.
Celia Callahan in the game as well at attack. So, one of the midfielders will have to hold for Allie's position. So, Holliston will be at a man advantage seven going on six when they get it down to the defensive zone, if they do. Obviously, Ashland would prefer that that never occur. Yes. So, Ashland on the offensive there. Number 25 has got the ball. Margaret Morton going behind the net here looking for the crease roll. No one is there to pick her up. And she scores. Number 25, Margaret Morton, junior from Holliston. She saw the opening, she took it. Defense a little late, unfortunately, maybe cuz they were definitely down a player, so that'll do it. Yeah, unfortunately, when you're down a player, the the communication breaks down a little bit. Actually, Forrester had had to hold in the midfield, and so one of your stronger defenders, senior, someone who's played a lot of defense, was not in the zone to to help out there, so that's that's the result.
608. I don't know what's on the wall over there. 608. Roll call. President Linda Saski. Fred Rushton here. Charlene Diaz here. Barbiki here. Sheila Bernett here. Would you please stand and say the pledge with me? I aliance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Um, citizens present, we appreciate you signing in and letting us know that you're here. And do we have anybody who wants to speak? Okay. Item 3.6. Oh my goodness. Donations. Wow. Where did Lance Ross get 75 bars of soap? He's been saving them. He hasn't been showering for two years. That's that's that's what it is. Yeah. Um, did a lot of these things happen as a at the breakfast or play lunch? Excuse me. It was a lunch. That's all.
The the third one in terms of reducing staffing was done through a voluntary election for someone who wanted to move from a full-time position to a part-time position. When we calculate all three of those things together, this would put us into a budget surplus of under $10,000, which seems like an appropriate place to be. So when you said that we were in a deficit probably for many years, was that deficit covered by regular M budget? >> That's a fantastic question. Thank you, Mr. Carlson. Yes, before last year, um really the the the program has been at a pretty balanced budget. Precoid, you either finished up 67,000 or down 67,000, which is where that barometer of like 10,000 in surplus seemed appropriate. When COVID happened, we gained a lot of federal grants and state grants to support preschools. And so their um their cash balances rose to over $100,000 in just having cash balances to carry over.
On the 3rd, and then the 5th, the days bordering the 4th of July, he is trying to put together some different cultural experiences for us, some different environmental experiences since Alaska is so different from Indiana. Um, you know, environmentally, obviously, mountains and bears and things that we don't have here. Um, Clawwalk is also primarily still a Native American population with the Tinglet people um, who they helped fund the plane tickets to get us out there along with the city. So, we're going to have some different cultural experiences with them. Again, something that we don't uh we don't always get here in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Um, and then we'll also be performing in their Fourth of July parade and celebration on the 4th of July. Uh, and then we'll be flying back into either Chicago or Indianapolis. again, whatever is cheaper for the the city and the peoples there.
Any discussion? Hearing none, Mr. Paleska. >> Aye. Mr. Music. Aye. Mr. Tenario. >> Aye. And I vote aye. Moving on to new business, we have one item this evening and I recommend to the board they approve the renovations to the administration building and also to our bus barn. Hearing the recommendation. I'll make a motion to approve. Second.
I I think this is something that we can just make a determine that we can Like I don't think we have to leave this to Doug. I I think that and we can take another look we can bring up the thing and look at where the sign is. Again, I thought it was in a good spot. I think it just from GC cheese CC GCG's perspective um they can kind of read it in two different ways, but I think the sign was between this property and the Connect Church that owns it it's property. So it's okay with me if it goes in I don't really care if it's a side setback or a front setback. I think it's okay it was in a good spot I thought. Is that not because signage is not allowed in any of the set in the front or side?
Just like that, 4-4. It's got to turn up white here. We need a drop zone cuz we are down a player. It'd be nice to start with the ball here not let Holliston come back down on the on the offensive. Yeah, maybe take a little time off the clock as well. Good job by Ashley. She's won several draw controls today. Ashley up to Ceili Callahan. See who's going to get to open space and hold that ball. Holliston decides to double here being up a player, so They have not yet. There they go. Now they figured it out. Now it's six on seven. Ashlin with six offensive players to the seven Holliston defenders. Ashlin will do well to spread it out making it harder for the defenders to get out there and double. The further apart they are, the longer it takes them to get there.
No, the bottom one, the bottom section is the employee lunchon. Everything above that or most of what's above that uh were donations for teacher appreciation week. Except for the 75 bars of soap. That's a lot of soap. Um, thank you to board members who contributed to this. Nice of you to do that. Guess it was uh Sheila and and Barb. Thank you very much, ladies. You're welcome. Indeed. The rest of us should have been in on that, too. I guess I missed that somewhere along the line. Excellent. I cannot believe how the community comes forward for us. Thank you everybody out there. This is just perfect. It's just perfect. Thank you. We have a great community that steps up. Yes, we do. Yeah. Um going on, get got to get through all that stuff. Item 3.7, adoption of the agenda. Do I have a motion to adopt the agenda as presented?
This year we had a little over a h 100,000 to roll over. So theoretically we we could limp this along for one more year and eat our cash until we go bankrupt. But we thought it'd be best to be proactive in this moment. >> Okay. And how much is the increase? >> The increase is going to be going from $121 per week to $150 per week uh for full-time and for part-time from $73 to $100 per week. >> Okay. All right. Thank you. >> Yep. How much do teen mothers who are students in our district pay for tuition for? >> Another great question, Miss Mcronone. Uh, teenage parents do not pay anything to be a part of this program. >> And do the fathers of the children have to participate in any way, shape, or form? >> I am unaware of any fathers that participate in the TAP program.
Uh on the 6th of July, um while we were there, the the city of Clawwok and the native tribes that are there put together the funds to buy the plane tickets for all of us to go out there. By all of us, it's the 14 that are currently in the CHS percussion class in the drum line. Um with one exception, we had one student that couldn't go and I replaced them with another student that's a senior that I, you know, I know her and the family. Um, we replace them, they're fly us out as as well as me and one female chaperone since we obviously have, you know, females in the drum line. Uh, so Amy Dennison will be joining us. And then I also have at least one parent, Lindsay Wilds, that has said that she's going to fly with us as well. So it puts the student toteer ratio at four to four to one, give or take.
Any discussion? Mr. Paleska. Aye. Mr. Music. Aye. Mr. Tenario. Aye. And I vote aye. Mr. President, that is all the business at hand that I have to present to the board this evening. Except to remind everyone that our next school board meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 16th at Edison Junior Senior High School in the community room starting at 6:30. Thank you, Mr. President. Thank you. All right. Any parting comments, Mr. Pueska? Yes, once again, thanks everybody who attended tonight. It's a beautiful evening. I hope everybody gets to go home and enjoy, soak up some sunshine, and have a good night. Thank you, sir. Mr. Music? Yeah, I mean, obviously we're kind of down to our staff that were here. So, I just want to thank you once again for all the hard work you put in for all those clubs and activities. I I couldn't imagine doing all that.
How does it matter? Cuz I don't remember like other projects commercial projects that we've done. Can you Signage will always be in a setback section of the Can I know you're able to bring up 3. 5.3.14 so we can see what that says. On the on the bylaw? Yes, 5.3.14 unless >> Are you doing that? Okay. Looks okay. Sorry, I made you go out of it. There we go. So what is it in here that um Yeah, it says that needs to get a sign permit. So, what's our question if they just if they have to get the sign permit or not? The print says the proposed sign is at the 10 ft is at the 10 ft side yard setback where 30 ft is required. Oh, okay. So, um maybe what they're saying is that we can look at the location of the sign.
Right now, McGinnis and Vitti were just out there playing catch, just trying to kill some time. Ball moves faster than your feet, for sure. So, doesn't make for an exciting broadcast, but it's it's effective for Ashlin. Fortunately, Allie comes up with it. Nice job. >> She lost it, came right back with it, so good for her. 20-30 seconds left on that penalty for Here comes a double again. Leaning early. Coming in about 10 seconds. Still playing catch here. Good. Be patient with the ball. She's going to hold it. Ashley being a smart player there. We'll find some open space. Lily Vitti with the ball. And got Holliston wasn't able to get much pressure on there the double team partly because of Ashland spreading out their players so well. Um And early back in the game and just like that it's Ooh. Nice. Now they decide to get some tough defense there, number 15.
I make a motion we adopt the agenda as presented. I'll second that motion. All those in favor? I Melinda Subraki. I Fred Rushton. I Charlene Diaz. I Barb I Sheila Bernett. Item 3.8 superintendence reports. Uh Madame President and board members, um you see the typical reports. Uh I would like to point out you've looked at JL and JLRB. I would like to point out uh GCBDEA-A uh which is our district uh housing uh rental agreement. And now that we've completed year one um uh Mrs. Gaston, who is kind of uh the person in charge of our rentals uh from our business office, had some suggestions and uh so you can see those um uh rather than have a separate contract or a separate rental agreement for year two, we just added this little thing at the top to check mark, you know, is this year one or year two.
