>> There have been in the past several years ago. >> Okay. Okay. All those in fa any other questions? All those in favor? >> I. >> Motion carries. >> J8. Mr. Bogart. >> Thank you, President Micronis, governing board members, Dr. Strereer and guests. This is a pretty simple one. We found an opportunity to reduce a fee for our elementary students with regards to the student ID fee and digital resource fee. So, this action is to clarify on our on our fee schedule that elementary students would not have to pay the $10 fee for the digital resources as they do at the secondary level. So, this is a reduction of a fee.
I think there's a decimal point in there, but four to one. Um, so we'll be fine from that aspect. uh the students and the you know whoever here is responsible for um anything that they might need while they're there. So Mr. Karns told us that we would be responsible for food, but knowing the island and in the research that I have done, um I we were told not to be too worried about it and make sure that we that the community would take care of us, make sure that we would be prepared. Um, and then the only other thing that we have to consider is getting the drum line equipment on a plane to Alaska, which does come with fees, but I just received a donation of $2,000 from one of the grandmothers of the students to help cover that. The final cost of that I do not know yet.
I don't think I have the patience or anything like that for it. So, thank you. Um but yeah, thank you to everyone that came out. It's wonderful to see everybody get together like that, and we appreciate it. Thank you, sir. Mr. Tenorio? Yeah, I would just like to thank the staff too. Um having that many clubs here, I think it's really important for our school. And a lot of good things are happening here at Lake Station. Um thanks for all the hard work you're putting in. And I know those kids enjoyed the heck out of it. And thank you for putting in all the extra time, man. I know after hours it's you want to go home. You had a long day, but thank you for doing that. I'm glad that we had so many kids represent us. Um that was really nice. There was a lot of kids that that have participated.
I can kind of picture it. I think what GCG is saying Yeah, so the proposed standalone sign Oh, and it's giving another section, section 5.3.8. If we scroll up a bit, might help us. 5.3.8, the proposed standalone sign should not be placed within the required 30 ft side yard setback as shown. Not be replaced with a side or a rear set or rear setback. Um the proposed sign is at the 10 ft side yard setback where 30 ft is required. I think that they were saying it's not in the side setback, it's in the front setback, and we're allowed to be in the front setback. So, the fact that it's way over on the side of the site versus maybe a dead center in the front, I think was bothering GCG because maybe technically maybe technically these are two different owners like with two different a trust or something.
Abigail Langdon, senior. Ironically, that was the toughest defense of all >> [laughter] >> when the penalty had expired. I think she realized she could get full pressure by herself and not get beat. Uh Peyton Tripp broke her stick at practice the other day, so she is having a little trouble. Yeah, she's using a a McGuinness stick there. I put a put try to break it in last night with my hammer, it didn't work. But nice pass by Maggie up to Lilly Vitti with the goal. Nice goal right on the doorstep, right on the crease, over the top of the goaltender. Lilly Vitti with an early hat trick here. Only 3 minutes plus into the second quarter, she's picked up three goals already. It is actually a rather high-scoring game here. Uh didn't see how many goals a game that Holliston averages, but again Ashland's been around nine goals a game and here we are early in the second quarter with five.
Um they have to do it each time, each year, but at least then we've got a way of marking that. Um, uh, Cass, if you'll scroll down, um, uh, the rental amounts are there. 1,300 for the whole house, 550 for the master bedroom that has, uh, its own bath, and 375 per month for the other two uh, bedrooms in each of the houses. Um, we have done very well this year, even though we did not have anybody in house one this entire year. um uh we more than met uh the expenses for operating the three houses. Um and then uh on page two under deposits uh one of the things that occurred to us was um simply because renters asked uh which was good uh do the deposits roll over from year to year and yes they do. Once they've paid a deposit it stands as long as they're there.
Happy to answer any questions you may have. >> Can I get a motion? >> I move the governing board approve the class particip participation and various fee schedules for fiscal year 2026 2027. >> Can I get a second? >> Second.
Um, but with the private donation of $2,000, it could probably will get us pretty close if it doesn't um to cover all of that stuff flying there and flying back. So, I'd appreciate your consideration on this. I think it's going to be a fantastic opportunity. Um I've never been to Alaska. None of the none of the kids with the exception of Tyler have been to Alaska. I think it's going to be a great opportunity to travel for them to experience a lot of the things actually that um Miss Carter and her students were talking about um cultural experience, you know, learning about different parts of the world. Uh and another opportunity to perform and showcase, you know, Crawford'sville, Indiana, and how great our school corporation and our students are as a whole. So on on top of that, I want to take it a second that's kind of a side point to talk about students.
So, that means that you guys are doing a good job cuz they want to participate. And uh Uh Miss Hayes, really hate to see you leave, but um good luck in your future. You worked very hard for us, and I appreciate everything you've done. Um Eric, welcome back, sir. It's good seeing you. Can't wait to work with you again. Um missed you. So. Um shout out to our IT team and the high school principal. >> reading my paper? You're literally going down the line.
It's It was more just the setbacks between This is the front and the side yard setback. That's really what it was. It was a discrepancy if the sign was in the front yard setback or the side yard setback. Let's see if I can pull it up on the plan. Yeah, I think it's going to be in the front yard and probably just going to match their current sign that they have for the church, right? Like it's going to look like that. It'll be kind of on the corner of the property. Yeah, I think it Yeah, I think it was a matter of if if they were if these were two different property owners, you could say, "Hey, that that sign is right by my property. It's too close to the side setback." But given that it's the same It's two pieces of property, but it's the same owner.
Refs are going to let them play. They're going to run and score some goals. Another draw here. Ashland's force to take it pretty successful so far. Peyton trying to get in the mix there, no good. 15 Abigail Langdon with the ball coming in. Gabby Eng trying to slow her down, gives her a nice cross check, and she's going to get called for a foul. Hopefully she didn't do it in the eight. It's actually in the That's a big part of the game. If you're going to foul somebody on a fast break, make sure you do it before you get in the eight. It's a tough thing to teach. Another position shot. Say this is Highest number I've seen in some time. Get those nice stop by Alana. She got her hand on that one. >> She did. It's nice to see some season when you get the more seasoned referees tend to, you know, take take control of the game and call those shooting space.
And then somehow or other we had missed in the uh in the board uh board policy book version of this rental agreement. Um Cass if you'll scroll on down please. Somehow we had missed the section on children. Uh it is in the actual document we had our our employees sign this year but it miss somehow we missed it in here. So that got added in. Mistake I noticed. Oh spelling error. Yeah spelling error. Okay, let's uh so we can get it corrected. Where? Where? Oh, property pro. No, we're there. Children. Oh, children. Oh, and the Yes. Okay. On on the premises. So, we'll get that fixed. Oh, that should be on the premises. Okay. Should be on. I think that's the only thing I noticed on this thing. Yeah. Sounds like a really decent deal. Um, and it's worked out well. It's worked out well.
>> Any discussion? All those in favor? I >> I >> motion carries. >> J9 Miss Harper. >> Good evening, President Mike Cronis, governing board members, Dr. Strereer and community. Identified in the attachment are those principles to whom we intend to offer contracts for 2026 2027. >> Okay. Can I get a motion? I move that the governing board approve the offering of contracts to principles for the 2026 2027 school year. >> Can I get a second? >> Second.
I was I have an opportunity tonight since I'm here to talk about it today with with the situation that happened at the high school. There's one student I wanted to bring up specifically. So I was out of the building at the time during third period. I was at the middle school um talking to a couple of middle school kids that I think needed some persuasion to to be in high school band. Um, and obviously I had coverage, you know, I'd done all this stuff through the office. Um, but when everything happened, I obviously was not able to get a hold of Renee since she was in the front office and was dealing with everything. Um, one of my senior students, Maximo Hakoma Hueesca, got a hold of me personally because he knew I wasn't in the building and said, "Hey, this is what's going on.
Thank Thank you for everything you do every week. But everything goes fine. So, thank you. Thank you very much. And uh That's it. I was trying to be good. I kept it short for you. So, I'll wrap it up.
It's like, well, I guess technically that's true. It's still in the side setback, but it's the same owner. So, um And if I think if we force it to be in the center, that'd be right in where the screen is for the soccer field. Yeah, I mean, I thought it was in the Yeah, I'll share it, but So, I mean, the only problem is like what if that's sold? I think this is meant to be I'm not seeing it on It's meant to exist for for a reason as a bylaw or as a But isn't that then a um discussion between the buyer and the seller about the sign? Yeah, isn't it going where that little corner swoop is, right, for the parking lot? Like in the left? I thought that's where they showed it on a different map. >> but now it's not on any of these current plans.
Alyssa Brown up to Ali Marseglia over to Erin Hickey. Nice job on the transition there. All good passes and good catches. They weren't necessarily that easy. >> But team did a good job. Laney charged into the middle there. Lucky she didn't get called on a charge there. You can't make space on offense like that. I actually I believe he did just call it. Ah. A little late. A little late, but he got it. Yeah, so you you know, the rules you can't you can't A charge in basketball is not the same as a charge in lacrosse. A charge in basketball is when you run into somebody, but here it's a little bit more you can't even make your own space on on an offensive drive. You have to kind of go around the players, so There were several defenders in there when she tried to get to the middle there.
Uh I don't think there are any other changes down below. Were there Cass? No, I think that's it. So I wanted you to be aware of uh you know that we were making this change and getting ready. Um and part of it was uh when Becca brought me this for us to talk about uh she also brought me all the numbers so that we could determine whether I was going to come back to you and ask for an increase in the rent for next year. And since we more than covered since what was paid more than covered the expenses, I don't see any reason at this time to raise it. Okay. Um uh let's see. Uh up a couple of updates for you. Uh one is we got uh we got information about all of the EL testing results and uh once again uh we have exceeded um uh the state expectations for either reclassifying students or them moving up um uh you know from one category to another.
>> Any discussion? Any questions? >> All those in favor? >> I. >> Motion carries. >> Thank you. >> Uh Miss Rei J10. >> Good evening, President Mcronis, members of the board, Dr. Straer, and the members of our inperson and virtual audience. At the last study session, um I shared our updated gifted scope and sequence with all of you. As you recall from the study session, AG requires uh AD requires approval of our gifted scope and sequence every five years. This scope and sequence provides a clear framework to ensure consistent highquality services for gifted learners across the district. The components of the plan include program design, curriculum and instruction, identification of gifted learners, effective development, professional development, parent and community involvement program assessment and budgeting. >> Can I get a motion? >> I move that the governing board approve Morirana Unified School District's gifted scope and sequence as presented.
We're being evacuated. I have the entire drum line here. Andrew Hurt was absent today. Like, everybody's here. Everyone's accounted for. I took attendance. let me know what was going on and kept me updated during the entire process um since I wasn't able to get a hold of my wife. Um and then when we got to I was one of the first high school teachers at the middle school since I was already out and about. Um and when he got to the high school, he walked in with my sign that we used for reunification, my red bag with all of my medical equipment, handed it to me and had taken care of everything. >> Wow. taking care because he knew exactly what I would have wanted done in the classroom and what the policies were and I was so so impressed with that student and that's part of the reason why I'm willing to take the drum line to Alaska and do this is because of leaders like Max and the steps that he took in a situation that he was probably pretty scared also and he took care of everything for me because I wasn't in the building.
