And these bouncing balls, we can't let the ball bounce today, especially where it's soaking wet. It's going to do whatever it wants to do today. Whoa, another wet stick problem there. Also, that's another reason let's not the ball get wet. Keep it on the ground if we're going to throw it like that. So, Ryan Adorner on the ride, trying to slow down. Aaron Hickey gets involved. You can't do that. But, she did it anyways. Good for Aaron. Good stop. Not something was going to be called there and yet didn't happen. Peyton got the cross-check call though somehow. Number 12 with the ball, Elizabeth Marion. To Caroline Vargas. Think I'm saying her last name right. That is an illegal pick. That's 2 minutes. >> family friend. It's Worries. Worries, okay. Seven to four Ashlin leads. 2 minutes left in the second. Paulson's taking their time setting up the offense waiting for the right play here.
Warren to see if uh he would be willing to do that. If not, Zoom meeting type book club thing so that everybody could if not um I think we could run one, you know, where we just meet on Zoom for an hour a month until we get through a book. It's just be it would be an interesting idea. Anyway, got that done. And the other thing that we found was that we are not going out as board members into the community other than going to church or going to women's counsel or going to wherever we happen to meet people. But we came up with whole bunches of postits with different places on them that we could possibly go to to discuss what's going on in schools or answer just answer questions. You know, get up and say, I'm from the school board and I'm here to answer any kind of questions that you guys might have.
>> Any questions? Entertain a motion to approve. >> So moved. >> Second. >> All those in favor? I >> I. >> Any opposed? >> Thank you. >> My microphone's not on. It was unanimous. My microphone wasn't on. Sorry about that. All right. Moving on to uh consider resolution for scholarships and award. Mr. Nicodemus. >> Yes. This is just one of our standard resolutions that we have every time in May. Uh this is to be able to pay the scholarships and awards to the higher education selection of the students choice. Uh so we would recommend that the board approve this resolution. >> So moved. >> Second. >> All those in favor? >> I.
And then maybe we can resolve this so that they don't have to go for that part of it, right? We can Yeah. >> get Doug off the hook for In addition to that main sign, there's going to be an overflow parking sign and soccer field parking sign all in that same I don't know if I thought the overflow parking though is going away. No, it's at least this drawing still shows that. So, is it just like a a little street sign like a little Yeah, but I it's only it's directional. It's just >> Okay. Like with that one of those ones with an arrow like telling you where to go. >> on the inside of it. This is the sign. Um but it's it's just funny that That it's all in one space. >> and a tree section. Okay. So, um and did you did you note that condition?
Defense is being patient, not jumping too early. Alyssa Brown. Little bit of pressure. There you go, Alyssa. >> Terrific job. [snorts] Caused turnover for Alyssa. She can fly. Look like a bunny. Maggie McGuinness. We got two on two on four. Still finds Lilly somehow. Oh, gets off the shot but tipped by the defender. Boy, that was a lucky break. >> Carbon copy of some of the other ones we saw hitting Lilly cut across there. I got to start watching Lilly before she cuts to see what she's doing to get away from that defender cuz she's doing a fantastic job. >> by Lilly right there. And come on, Aaron. I I am I am just pulling for Aaron Hickey. She's got to bury that ball. She is a great player. She's just got to get that confidence with popping a couple in the net. Lilly batted the ball down right to Maggie's feet.
And so I think in addition to encouraging me that's wrong English incl encouraging us to go into the schools at least once a month. we should maybe be trying to get into some organizations and Sheila has has this all written out in beautiful form that she's going to send us and I would suggest that we try and meet one of these groups where they're at. Um, does that make sense to everybody? just to to promote whole skills and like they brought up is you know the board members get together and decide who's going so you don't have to worry about forms and stuff at the different functions just have you know one board member going to each of the different organizations or something so that one or two depending yeah one or two and then you don't have the they actually recommended this the superintendent and a board member go is what they said to go together like a unified front so you know, um it's something for us to consider as part of our goals for the the new school year.
>> Any opposed? Thank you. >> And next up, consider resolution for transfer of funds. Also, Mr. Nicodemus. >> Yes. So, also another standard resolution that we do twice a year. This is to transfer funds from the education fund to the rainy day fund. Um, this time we are looking at a $1.5 million transfer due to the healthy nature of our education fund. So, we would recommend that the board approve this as well. >> Second. >> All those in favor? >> I.
Did you grab that one too? This is the one about the And I'm adding that to Rich. I I think we're going to have it as a condition. Oh, okay. I see. >> Like a regular condition. Okay. So, and then so otherwise we're on number 12, which is the last one. Yeah, a site plan should be consistent with the objectives of the comprehensive plan. Planning board finds that the project is consistent with Ashlands new comprehensive plan, which includes core themes of building and enhancing community and guiding development that honors open space and conservation. All right, there's a statement there about the site alteration special permit. Um Planning board has reviewed the purpose of the site alteration special permit. Planning board recognizes the applicant's commitment to preserving the site's natural beauty. Okay, that will probably have to change. Preserving natural topography? I think we just can we can just take those.
Aaron was right there in the middle. Just couldn't quite get it. Just a little bit high. She's got to finish that follow through, man. She's trying to pop it in the net. She's got to put all her power behind it. She'll she'll bury one here. >> Yeah, she she can let them rip. That's for sure. I remember coaching her in eighth grade and showing her how to do that sidearm. She got it immediately. >> That's right. We did do that, didn't we? Greatest reaction to someone figuring out how to do something in my whole entire coaching career was Erin Hickey figuring out how to sidearm the ball. It was great. That was a lot of people just touching the ball on the ground there. Margaret Morton with the ball. Junior. Kendall and Oh, no, Sam Sam Sayette. That's also a force. Can't really do that.
They might consider that. And Melinda, we you and I both talked about since we're running um on the ballot that we may use that as a a way to get into the community, too, because we're running. Hey, we're running. would you like to ask us questions or do you have any suggestions or that kind of thing? Yeah. And we have the we have the group that we have we have an advisory group but this way we'd be meeting many more people and it would just be something to think about. So that's what we kind of came back with. They did um Barb or Sheila did you have anything else to add? Well, we did. We also talked about the fact that one of the questions they asked is, "What does your community expect your school district to achieve with the students by the time they're done with our time?
>> Any opposed? >> Thank you. Unanimous. Thank you very much. All right. Uh, moving on to personnel. Do you want to take the two retirements together, Dr. Recker, or or individual? >> No, I think it's fair for the board to take those together. Definitely thank both of them for their years of service and Sy's several years with us um in the middle school and Carolyn has been a therapist for us, serving our school community for a career as well. So, I do recommend the board accept their retirements. Entertain a motion to approve. >> So moved. >> Second. >> All those in favor? I >> I.
>> something You're great at that. You know, just saying we don't need that, right? Take it out. The other project I could think of it, but this I I agree. I think this could just be um The planning board finds this purpose. The planning board finds this the purpose has been fulfilled. Yeah. Yeah, well, they had to move some dirt around to build the soccer field, you know, so um Okay. So, then that just brings us to the conditions where we've already said we'll have a condition um The loading is just a waiver. That doesn't need a condition. There'll be a condition for the sign. The signage. And a condition for um the planning board representative who I assume will be the tree warden. I think so. I'm just waiting for this to load. It takes so long. to review the vegetative screening as I think as far as like what to take down and what to keep.
Ref, hello. You can't work your way through two defenders. Well, they're going to call it a goal. Nothing to do about that. It was what Ashlyn was trying to avoid there. A last minute goal because that is something that has bitten them several times before, but Last night, two points, 5 seconds left for the goal at the end of the game. That was a great one. We are notorious 30 seconds and under letting a goal in at least every game once a game, maybe twice. And generally it happens after possession of the ball with a minute left where the the clock is on your side and something goes awry and I think we >> And give them a little momentum going into halftime and obviously 30 seconds left now, either team could still pick one and again. 4 years, three 2 years ago in Hanover in in the Elite Eight, I believe we were in where they scored every quarter with 3 seconds left, I think started that I still have nightmares over it.
What What do they think is important?" And I thought that was an awesome question because what do we really know what the average person expects us to expect from the kids? So that was one of the things that I've kind of been I'm lucky enough I have patients that I can ask. So I've been trying to ask questions about that because has it changed in the last 20 years or 30 years? I mean technology is completely different. Um and I feel the way that we teach our kids is different. So that's one of the things that I'm personally going to be trying to do is see what the community has to say. And I think that that would be a good opening question. You know, when we meet with Kuanas or Rotary or the police department or whoever we would meet with, all those all those postits that we made, um it was a full typewritten page.
>> Any opposed? >> Thank you. >> Uh and resignations. We have a group there as well. A through G. Anything on there, Dr. Riker? >> No. I recommend that the board approve the resignations A through G. >> Second. >> All those in favor? >> I. >> All right. Thank you very much. And moving on to hiring. Always this time of year, lots of movement going on. Uh we want to take those three together. Do you have comments? >> Yeah, I I'll give comments on A and B. And then we are lucky to have um Lana here. So we'll do C separate. But um A is a return. So Mr. Hyatt is going to return to CHS as a science teacher. um was a well-loved um science teacher by the students. So, this is an excellent um opportunity for us and for him. So, we've had a few teachers over the years who try to the larger school world and come back to us.
And then um And then I think we should also have a condition about the turf field material. Because we talked about that a lot. They gave us different things. They said it was going to be um you know, this smart turf uh is supposed to not have any um PF PFS FS what do you know? Yeah, in the in the smart turf. um And then um And then the uh the fill. >> [clears throat] >> Excuse me. The um The fill would be a um um a hybrid system that um would be 30% to 50% You know, it's uh it's in our meeting minutes from Let's see here. Oh, and then we would need one for the lights. Oh, yes. So, from the um April 9th meeting minutes they plan to use a hybrid type fill which decreases the use of SBR rubber by 30% to 50%.
tsunami of of uh last second goals. That was uh I still >> Nightmares. still lose sleep. Two Kevat, that was a great season. Ashlyn with the draw control. Maggie with the ball, 16 seconds left. Come on now, somebody come up with it. Peyton took something in the face. Oh, she's going to be mad about that. 7 seconds left. I'm not sure they're going to be able to get something off there, but similarly Ashlyn didn't get the shot they wanted to close out the half. So, that will do it after two quarters. Ashland seven, Holliston five. I think we'll probably take a break and come back at the start of the second half. Perfect. Go half time, I guess. Okay. Okay. So, you can go on Yeah. Just go to the See. You can reach public I'll see. I'll just That's good. That's good. That's just That's good.
Yeah. Two columns. And so if you would get that to us, then we can start thinking about it. Yeah. I I had it all uploaded and ready to hit send. And something happened. Uh-huh. So, you're working. Everybody else is working, too. Okay. Any other updates that things that we've done? I got to read the kindergarten three classes of kindergarten rise. They actually they contacted me on email and said, "Would you come up and read?" And I said, "Okay, what books would you like to have?" So, I went to Target and bought three cool kind of cool books. And um two of the books kids had not read before. The one book they could recite from heart but um it was kind it was fun. I enjoy that so much. I wish more they would ask me to do that. Yesterday I went to Diamondback for their career day and so I got to spend about two two and a half hours with five different groups of kids.
They get to their senses. Um and um also Lena Helers, a new science teacher um was excellent. you know, trying to find a science teacher in this modern era was it was a little nerve-wracking, but we had options all with license. Um, and so this is exciting. So, I recommend the board approve A and B. >> Make a motion to approve A and B. >> All those in favor?
Reduces the which [clears throat] rubber? The SBF? Yeah, SBR. Styrene something rubber. I have 250%? Or 50%? By 30% to 50%. So So, then what? Um the hybrid infill for this data sheet is SBR crumb rubber blended with cork, coconut fiber, organic material. That's what >> that's that's just that particular vendor they were showing you. They haven't actually picked the vendor. Correct. So, what I'm saying is is that SBR 30% to 50% should we take that with assuming That's like an industry standard and not specific to that manufacturer. Yeah. So, what are you saying um we should replace it with something from the sheet? >> keep it at hybrid? Yeah, cuz you wouldn't want to like let's say it's 55% like do we really want them to like not be able to do it cuz it's a higher percentage or And how do we track it?
