Nine we were confused about when it started because it lumped nine and 10 together, but really the academic mastery for those is measured after grade 10. So, what we have is ninth grade you have to be on track to graduate, in 10th grade you have to have those credits that are outlined there. And if not, they're saying that you have not reached academic mastery for grades nine and 10. Um one thing to note when you see our summer school numbers this summer, they're significantly larger than they have been in the past because usually our credit recovery summer school is for 12th graders and maybe 11th graders who are on track. We have shifted gears this year and this will be for any ninth or 10th grader who is not on track to meet the the academic mastery. So, we'll have a much larger number um in summer school taking these courses.
um which honestly says everything you need to know about just how attentive she is, how organized she is, and she's just on top of it. Tina's constantly staying ahead of the game. Um she orders food not only for daily breakfast and lunch, but she also plans for Bulldog Club, our after school snack. Um she's already called me to say, "What about summer school? Um and we're preparing for summer school." She always makes sure that all the numbers, the information is turned in on time, and she's always the one reaching out to me first. Um, I just truly really appreciate that level of leadership and ownership because that's a portion of the school that I don't even have to think about. One thing I especially appreciate about Tina and her staff is just the way they help create fun and excitement for our students. Um, whether it's a holiday theme, a special event, a spirit day, or changing up the lunch menu always to match our activities that are going on.

Um this is a minute because you've just been reappointed. Did the governor's vehicle bring you up here? >> No, no, no escort. And I'm sure Mr. has shared some of that with you and we'll continue to share some of that with you. But that balance um we'll be we'll just be using for ongoing projects. And then we've got the fund detail report report for the go bond. That is the bond that we hold here. If you go to finance page F34, the very last column, you'll see what the balance was. April 30th, 2026. 113,7475 cents. And once again, I think Mr. Gibney has already talked with you. We're looking at uh ceiling pro uh uh parking lots, ongoing projects, that type of thing with that uh with that money in that account and pending approval.
Like, automatic yes, we are going to do this with them. So, very, very uh positive experience with everybody. Excellent. So, with approval of this, we can get that order and have those here um for the beginning of school. Um and again, that's, you know, math is one of our our goals across the uh the district, and then we're about them some textbooks for that reason. So, So, we currently I know we as we started with the our top suites, kind of went away from textbooks. Do we currently have Are they just outdated? Do we have textbooks or is there Do we went away from it and back to having them? Well, the the textbook is a tool, right? >> Right. Our teachers have our the curriculum maps. That that should guide their their teaching. Um the great thing for us is um they came out with the with I-Learn checkpoints.
So we'll have the first public hearing this evening during which as Mr. Miles mentioned there will be two presentations provided. One will be on the project itself that Mr. miles will go over in some level of detail and then after the conclusion of that presentation then we'll have a presentation on the financing and the maximum finance parameters to uh fund the project and that's going to be provided by Mrs. Simon Edetto from Baker Tilly.
So, we need to get rid of all of that single-use plastic. Compostable or otherwise. The other thing to mention is if if you have like a plastic takeout container that's marked compostable, or it's it's marked compostable, don't put it in with your plastic recycling because it can contaminate the plastic recycling. Um if you are not able to get it to an anaerobic composter, then then you should throw it in the trash because you don't want to contaminate the recycling. Um so, it's a little bit splitting hairs, but it can be challenging. Good question. Any good tips for everybody in terms of basic basic mistakes people make in recycling plastic? One So, one thing I've heard is the black plastic is not recyclable. Correct. That's That's correct. Yes. And I think the dark green. The conveyor belts have these lasers that separate out, and it just doesn't pick up the colored plastic.
Uh, we do. Do you want to Jeff's going to give a brief introduction and then I'm going to go through some of the points. Okay. Thank you. Thank you, Mr. Chairman, and I know we have a lot to cover. I'll keep my um, statement brief. Um, it's been a while since we've been together and we think we've been using that time constructively and productively. The commission and its representatives have asked a lot of us and we've endeavored some of the questions required more time and effort than others. Um, we think that what we've provided uh over several supplements [snorts] is representative and responsive to those requests, but we look forward to talking about that tonight and to the extent there's open items after tonight endeavoring to get you what you need. Uh I just wanted to state, you know Mr. Lucas, he's here tonight uh representing us as is George Campbell from Campbell Environmental, our licensed site professional.
Robert Paradott's program will also be participating in the soap box derby round. Finally, senior awards and scholarship night will take place this Thursday to recognize the accomplishments of the class of 2026. Thank you and have a great evening. >> You good job.
receipts. So, is that you've already earmarked for a particular year or whatever the year? Right. So, you don't want to Right. Use this year's for that. And school choice as a 250,000 projected to be at the end of the year for that. And some of those cannot save to keep next year should you have unintended expenses, right? Similar to being a homeowner. Right? You want to have something. We don't want to zero out a lot of these accounts in case something happens, right? Whether it's things that aren't physical repairs to our building, who knows. Other expenses that have to be done, so this is what we're kind of presenting to you. We'd love to hear any types of comments or questions or feedbacks. Um Welcome Andy back. Obviously, he couldn't be with us at the last meeting, but he has a lot of He has a lot of the history here that I cannot answer in terms of I can give general terms, but in terms of specifics, possibly.
But, um I I don't know if you guys have any questions for Viatta or wanted to or I could just ask some questions to help kind of illuminate her background a little bit more.
In Mock Trial, I've learned a lot about law and how a court functions, but more importantly, I've become much more confident as a public speaker. Before participating in Mock Trial, stage fright would prevent me from getting a message across clearly and confidently. But with practice in Mock Trial, I've overcome that fear of public speaking. Finally, in Accounting, I'm I'm learning how to keep track of my spending and my earnings. I know that this is an important skill that will be utilized throughout my life. Overall, these classes have helped me become more aware of what's going on in the world, be a better communicator, help me with my personal finances, and even widen my scope of careers that I want to pursue. While I don't know for sure that I will become an economist, a lawyer, or an accountant, the skills that I've picked up will help me no matter the career I end up in.
>> [applause] >> Good evening everyone. Students, families, and teachers. Thank you for joining together tonight to celebrate the class of 2030 on taking the next step forward in their future. I want to first say congratulations to all of you students. Finishing middle school is a big deal. And you should be proud of what you have accomplished so far. As a newly graduated senior, I remember sitting where you were are now. I I was so excited to finally be done with middle school and headed off to high school. I cannot wait for Friday night football games, homecoming activities, high school sports, and driving myself to school. But I always remember thinking about how overwhelming high school would be as well. You have new classes, new teachers, a new building, new rules, new friends, and so much more. And you know what? Sometimes it is. But high school is also where you start to figure out who you are and who you are meant to be.
I think just looking at some of the the budgeting aspects here where the board is borrowing from one year into the next. We got lucky with extra money that we didn't think we would get that kind of got us out of a jam last year. Um we still since day one I was here talked about health care. We didn't realize the energy costs. We didn't know there was a a war coming, you know, for gas and oil. I mean, I'm sure all of you are going through the same thing like I am, $100 to fill your tank up, right? So, all of those things together make the perfect storm and you know, if you are reading the paper, which I guess you are, Garfield is not the only district that's going through this. Um so, in order to do that, we were very transparent with regard to all these things, including health care when I first got here.
Please join me in thanking all of them for their dedication and commitment to CDO. And finally, later this evening, lots of wind. There we go. Most of you seniors will participate in Project Grad. I would like to thank the leadership and volunteers who have been planning and working to make this event possible. We simply cannot pull this event off without them. We have a dedicated a dedic excuse me a dedicated group of parents in our community who work tirelessly to pull this evening together. I would also like to thank the town of Oro Valley, the Ora Valley Police Department and all donors for their financial support of this incredibly important event designed to keep our graduates safe tonight. Please join me in a round of applause to show our appreciation. [applause] Now to our graduates. Tonight is an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of the 413 members of the class of 2026.
So, for example, um we we always seem to just like put off the secret society and gang activity. So, that actually would stay there, but all the other ones we have already covered, but we would um like if we don't get to these today, these would be the ones that we would tell them we haven't gotten to. Um and there might be more, but that would be kind of what we would share for this slide. And then in the recommendations, that's when we would say um like basically what we knew we didn't get to that was like beyond what they said. So one of the things we keep talking about is aligning the staff policy changes to um I'm sorry, aligning the staff information to the students. Um so that's where we would do that part. Does that answer your question? Okay. Um, anything that you think we should add?
It's all out. So, we restock we we pull in these items in July with three drop-off dates at the beginning of August. We'll restock shelves and be ready to rock and roll right after Labor Day, when when our social workers get themselves together and tell us how many people they have and who will need help.
What Yeah, I'm just going to go first. Sorry. Well, hi everyone. Good evening. Um I am really really excited to introduce Olivia Tan. She is going to be our board member, our student board member for the next school year. She is a senior. She is involved in a ton of different things and has um has really proven her leadership in a variety of activities that she's involved in. Um I'm really excited to welcome her to the board and um she really stuck out during our application and interview process because she understood I think a lot of people don't really know what the board does. Um but she understood a very broad perspective and how she can make an impact as a student on this board. So, I'm really excited to welcome Olivia. >> [applause] [laughter] >> Hi again. Um I get to introduce our South board student board rep for next year, Megan Walker.
Such a simple temporary, or is it temporary, solution to slow adolescence down um while I adjust while I adjusted. Stopping puberty changes the way a young person feels about themselves. And 98% of puberty blocker users transition onto cross hormone therapy. The United Kingdom banned hormone blockers in 2024 due to the lack of evidence on benefits and harms. And Scandinavia, once at the forefront of the transgender movement, has severely limited offering hormone blockers to adolescents as the psychological effects are not known and risks outweigh potential benefits. In the US, the organization calling for hormone blockers noted in a leak that the children they counsel to transition have not even had biology in high school. They do not have the development intellectually to understand the medical interventions they are undergoing and admit that many of the children transitioning have severe mental issues, other severe mental issues. In 2022, the FDA actually issued a black box warning for puberty hormone blockers.
