At this time, I invite all who are able to stand and join us in the singing of our national anthem. Tonight's anthem will be led by our own Cheshire High School Honor Treble Choir under the direction of Mr. Gregory Bell. [singing] By the dawn's early so proud [singing] we held at the twilight lasting brush stripes [singing] and bright stars through the spice we [singing] were streaming and the rockets [singing] the bombs bursting gave proof through the [singing] night that our flag was still there. Oh, [singing] say does that star spangle better [singing] yet for the land of the brave and the [singing] home of the brave. [music] [applause] Come on. Is that right? Let's give a round of applause for honor trip. [applause] Uh, one of the things I absolutely love about being principal here at CHS is just how invested students, teachers, and families are in this school community.
I can still live young. I can still live [music] young. I can still live young. >> [music] >> Find my way to you. I [music] want to find my way to you. You, my love. There's so many people >> [music] >> who say that they won't when they will. I could use some motivation. [music] But [music] I know how I feel. Faster [music and singing] than you like. It's over and that's [singing] the end. Faster [music] than you like. It's over and that's the end. [music and singing] It's over and that's the end. I want [music] to find my way to you. Yeah, babe. >> [music] >> I want to find [music] my [singing] way to you. Got to find my way to babe. I don't need a [music] reason. Say what I want when it's real. If I see you activate. You never know your last minute.

>> [music] >> Good morning everyone and welcome to Columbia Middle school eighth grade promotion ceremony. You may be seated. We practiced. My name is Don Miller and it is truly an honor to serve as principal at CMS. Today is one of my favorite days of the year because we get to celebrate the accomplishments, growth, and memories the students seated before us have. Before we begin, I would like to recognize our incredible CUSD4 teachers, staff members, and administrators. These individuals invest countless hours into supporting students, not just academically, but emotionally and personally as well. They attend trainings, grade papers late into the night, supervise events, answer emails at all hours, and most importantly, care deeply about your kids. If you are a CS CUSD4 teacher, staff member, or administrator here today, please stand so we can recognize and thank you. Some people in the audience should be standing, too.

We'll go over the board policy review and updates. >> So, we have are starting off with the second reading for update three, which [snorts] is our April batch. There are no changes from the last time these were presented to you. Um, we have policies in there. Let's see. One, two, three, four, but six policies that are required. Um, the policies that are not required. We do have [snorts] similar policies currently with Miola. So, we're just converting those over at this time. So, if you guys are comfortable, you may act upon those policies. It is my recommendation that we accept the policies as presented. >> And that's the first one. The second reading update. Yes, that would [clears throat] be the April batch.

Um organized. Um couldn't be prouder of her and the what she's accomplished at Flint Springs. And I'm excited for her with a new challenge and a new opportunity. So excited um to use her skill set in a larger area for our district. So, congratulations. Thank you, Mr. Peters. Thank you, Mr. Brimberry. I'll entertain a motion reference this agenda item. Any further questions or comments before we vote?
Uh Uh believe it or not, but the people in front of us, this gentleman had a broken leg and he handed me his crutch to use on the the window. So, I'm running down the side of the road towards the car with the crutch. But it it didn't help. And the reason it didn't help was the windshield was already shattered. But it was laminated. And the a lamination is is kind of thick plastic. So, that's when I looked at the ground and saw a rock, you know, a bunch of big rocks. I'm like, "I'm going to have to do that." And then I I was able to break it apart enough that that's when I reached in and started I was actually pulling the plastic apart. And as you see, Was it clear to you at the time that these people were trapped in like You you I'm sure you know who they >> they were trapped, but I didn't know how many people were in the car.
Like we talked about this before. Stone Park is, you know, maybe 13 years old. Um just cranking one out of there. I mean, the kid is just a player. And I mean, isn't that just the prettiest thing to watch in baseball? A left-hander just smoking one out to right, pulling a fly ball. I mean, for a second it looked like Alicia might have had a play out there near the wall, but he gave up on it, and it got over. Yeah, that's I could I have not seen a home run hit here before. That was a pretty swing from Bradica. They're going to go to a bullpen arm in John McLean, the sophomore.
I'm here with my co-host Emerson Bovino. How's it going, Bo? Oh, I'm doing well. Nowhere I'd rather be. Minnechaug East Longmeadow Western Mass finals. Doesn't get much better than this. >> Doesn't get much better than that. Mack Whitwer comes up with the draw. Gets the ball over the restraining line looks to set up the East Longmeadow offense. That was McConnell turning around taking the draw against Whitwer. Normally Minnechaug has good success with Kozub doing that and as you can see, Bo, somebody's Who's that? Number 23, O'Connor, is checking to see what type of gum Mack Whitwer is eating today. Right on her heels, which can't blame them. Incredible player, so >> Nope. See what she can do. Sabrina McKechnie with the ball. Today's Hopefully the Spartans really crash the cage today. Get some 8-meter attempts as McKechnie's turn around tries to get the ball over to Pellegrino.
Jones, >> Miss Mahia, >> I'm sorry. >> Mr. Mercedes >> present. >> Mr. Tox >> here. >> Mr. Hayden >> here. Before we get started, I'd like to add something to the agenda. Uh Sue has gotten me a note here saying uh she uh mistakenly left a page out of the packet. Uh she gave everybody the packet in front of us. She says it was timestamped. It was her her mistake. It's a third one for health and public safety uh workforce. I'd like to add that to the agenda. Can I get a motion for that, please? >> So move. Second. >> All those in favor say I. >> Opposed. >> Thank you. Students report, please. >> So, uh, I'll start this presentation by talking about the GLTS student reporter. Um, Mr. Nelson, our athletics and wellness director, recently sent out an email looking for students to participate interested in broadcasting in in broadcasting and video production to help stream GLTS sports games, interview coaches, and create highlight videos.
Did folks get a chance to look at those? No, I need a minute. I'm reviewing them right now. Perfect. Let me know when you're ready. I'm ready if everybody else is. Good. All right. Uh motion to approve the minutes as presented. So moved. Second. Great. Oh, we have a guest. Uh welcome there. Um Hi. Great. So, we just uh just so you know if you're following along on our agenda, Jenny, I think we just are about to vote on the approval of our minutes. All in favor, uh I'm a yes. Member Woods leave. Yes. Member Webb. Yes. Our committee minutes are approved. Uh and this is where we take maybe a tiny detour because I will fully admit to a mea culpa here. I did not include Mr. Bedard on our agenda cuz it was something that I think we had talked about with the idea of it being a later date, but then realized that wouldn't actually be possible given the other circumstances around Mr.
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Okay. I'm I'm going to kick this off by saying we had a uh meeting last night with the uh with Board of Finance. Um I let the board know that we were reduced by dollars. I had an opportunity to speak last night. Uh and and what I was trying to convey as best what it is that uh we are all taxpayers also. And uh we certainly understand the pain that goes on uh especially with our seniors. I I commented last night that I understand that reval is difficult because you have increasing housing values with fixed or even lower incomes and how difficult it is for our seniors. And I think we all get that as uh as Board of Education members.
And tonight we have the proud opportunity to recognize this great group of individuals um for their accomplishments and know that they represent the ideals and standards expressed in our vision of graduate. Uh it's the result of that investment that they put into their work over their four years and more in Cheshure public schools and Chesher High School. On top of that, they're a pretty fun group to be with. We enjoy being around them each and every day. Uh to get us started this evening, it's my pleasure to invite to the microphone assistant principles Kristen Pals and Dan Tardelli to present the book awards and all state awards. [applause] Good evening everybody. The following awards um will be given out up here on the stage. So we just ask the students to come up and receive the awards. So [clears throat] starting us off, the book award of Harvard is presented to a junior enrolled in college preparatory courses deemed most worthy by the high school faculty in the areas of scholarship and character.
Welcome to the class of 2026 Cypress High School Commencement Ceremony. My name is Josh Marines, and I'll be your master of ceremonies this morning. This is a special day, and one that we are all excited to celebrate together. For many of us, this day once felt so far away, and here we are one final time together as Cypress students, ready to celebrate all that we have accomplished. And so, this ceremony is both a joyous and yet solemn occasion. So, please, let us be courteous to those around us. We need to be respectful to our seniors throughout the entire ceremony, so we ask for no air horns or noise makers. Also, please remain seated while filming or taking photos, and remember to keep the recording device at chest level as to not impede the vision of others around you. And finally, please keep the aisles or walkways open throughout the entire ceremony.
