Um so I think he's pretty busy all season long. I think that covers all the seasons. Um other activities uh so he's already got a lot of experience uh in this area um of uh being involved in school leadership. So he's been a part of the principal advisory group uh student council. Um he's also participated in a um and I think I don't want to mess it up here, but uh it's a um oh, 2026 Kane County Youth uh Voices on Mental Health and he was a key contributor there. In fact, his his letter of recommendation from Aaron Hack, who's a counselor at the high school, um she made this statement about Arno. "From the moment I met Arno, he distinguished himself through his thoughtful engagement, intellectual curiosity, and genuine respect for others' perspective. He's not only articulate in expressing his own ideas, but he actively seeks out and considers opposing viewpoints." So for me, couple of key things there.
So I think you'll you'll start to see especially in the summer months when we have a higher cash balance, uh you're going to see uh the district uh uh try to do a little bit more short-term investing to maximize those dollars while we we have them.

>> Questions regarding So, we'll just table that one until >> Yeah, this was just the first reading for this one. [clears throat and cough] >> Further questions? We'll move on to the Antioch Bible Church Soccer and Transportation Facility agreements. Okay. So, this year our agreement with Antioch was up for us to take another look at and you have a copy of it in your packet and we combined it all into one packet, two separate agreements in there. When we first went out and started partnering with Antioch, we needed a safe space for our buses to be able to turn around and they were able to provide that for us and we thank them for their partnership for that. And at the time we had kind of thought that it might be a little bit more of a longer term piece. And then we added in the use of their grounds for the soccer program as well.
Um I don't have details on specific pay or contract options for that yet because it will all depend on what type of credentials our applicants provide. um since it's not a typical teaching position, you may get uh any number of things. So, uh instead of approving that this evening with the creation, I would bring that contract back as a separate item for board consideration once we have found the right applicant. >> Well, I think um we know we have an immediate need. I think we need to heed the board to approve the creation so we can get started on that job description and uh performance and and pay come at a later date, but I think we need to move forward on creating that position. >> Was that a motion? That would be a motion. >> I'll second that, Mr. President. Motion by the chair, second by Mr.

Ladies and gentlemen, how about one more round of applause for the McKinney Christian Academy? >> [applause] >> All right, this is the team that made me wait to do our work. This is why it's hard for your photo. Thank you so much. At this time I'll turn it over to Congratulations to the game store history presidential award winners. I'd like to thank everyone for being here tonight.
Any questions or comments before we vote? Hearing none, let's vote on that motion. >> That motion passes 5-0. Thank you so much, Mrs. Craft. Dr. Diggs, thank you, too. You better say something really nice. Before Russ shares um about Jamie, I'll tell you what, of of all the administrators, staying ahead of Jamie was one of the toughest things I've ever done in my position. She You talk about Energizer Bunny, enthusiastic, positive, high level of energy that she brings, does whatever it takes, that mindset uh for her staff, students, and uh her community. And uh again, models that every student every day and strives for excellence each day. And so, uh it's been a pleasure, honor to to work with her as well. And uh we'll miss her in the elementary ranks, but so excited for her new challenge. Thank you. And because of her work tonight, unfortunately, I am reading on her behalf.
Another turnover from McKechnie. Minnechaug is just swarming the Spartans. Just collapsing. >> Every time they go in. Yeah, Spartans are going to have to uh some point I'd call a timeout and readdress uh what they're going to be doing offensively. Right now Minnechaug up one nothing. 7:40 to go in the first quarter. Kozub with the ball kicks it up top to O'Connor over to Taylor over to Scatalini, back to Taylor. Gets the ball over to Kozub. Kozub behind the net to Stackwitz behind the cage with Kylie Marino. Now with the Spartans in a man defense here? >> No, yes. They played man to man to man which is The last few years they've always played zone and they do a really good job in zone for different coach, different setup. He likes to do man to man. Which it's good and bad. We have a lot of good defenders, but if you get a mismatch that's when it's that's when it's tough.
After graduating JTS, I plan to move to Boston attend Boston major in computer engineering. While I'm a bit sad to be leaving my JTS family, I will never forget my time here. I'm very excited for the future that awaits awaits me. Good luck to those after me and the class of 2026 is slogging out for the last time. Unfortunately, Jason couldn't be here so I'll read his line. Senior Jason Mora. Jason plans to attend North Access Community College for criminal justice and continues to work in the carpentry field while he goes to college. A quote from him. Thank you. Thank you all. It was it was great to work with the all of you as a student represented on the district community. See y'all next year and goodbye [applause] >> Mr. Hayden. >> Amber Amber Thank you very much. recognize another woman. >> No. Uh, Mr.
The boilers are all good and stuff. The gym floor was just refinished last year. That's in good condition, good for another 20 years, but you have to do yearly maintenance to it at around three or four thousand dollars a year, which is not a lot compared to resurfacing it. Um the size of the Greenfield Middle School has a lot of classrooms that that aren't being utilized, but have um plenty of room. So, this is a a big school where you can put a lot of people in. Um we don't have a lot of heating issues here or anything. Um no big red flags. Um I believe that's it for the middle school. Um the Federal Street School uh that also was built in 1910. That's a that's an older school. Each classroom in most your elementary schools are have this. They have a ventilator in each classroom.
Um mine besides having my name says something I like to remind myself and anybody whom I work with. What my tagline is it says that education is an individual right, but it's a community responsibility. And so, I'm hoping the community, I know they take it seriously. I'm hoping the community will think in a continued manner very seriously about how we support education for our Canton residents and our Canton students. Right? Including everybody. Um and the other thing I want to do is just call quick attention to my red shirt which says if you cannot see it because I'm blocked by the podium. It says teaching is a work of heart. And a couple years ago we had some budget constraints and I wore this shirt every year between the time budget expectations were set out and the budget passed. And so, I'll be doing it again.
In my advanced ceramics class, he began talking to me about books he was reading, life stories and philosophies of potters from nearly a hundred years ago. The very books and potters that I once researched as a hungry for knowledge young artist. And I began to see that same drive and insatiable curiosity in this student. After taking all of my ceramics classes, he then came to me wanting to do an independent study where he listened closely, practiced with intention, and grew to become the potter, a potter in his own right, having synthesized all the knowledge he's absorbed and yielded his own personal style. I have all the confidence that he is on the path. He is on a path continue of continued success in the fall as he embarks on his next chapter. After a summer working at the hole-in-the-wall gang camp, he'll be pursuing a degree in education at Southern Connecticut State University.
Love you, Mom and Dad. But that's the key. Because becau- Sorry. Becoming. Because it's all coming together doesn't mean that everything is perfectly figured out. We might not have every detail of our future planned. Some of us know exactly what's next, and some of us are still figuring it out. And that's okay. You don't need to have your whole life mapped out in order to be exactly where you're supposed to be. And as we walk away from this place, we're not walking away empty-handed. We're carrying the friends that changed us, the teachers that pushed us, and the memories that built us. Those people and moments don't stay behind in a building. They move forward with us, and they're a part of our foundation now. So, yes, this is an ending, but it's also a launch, a turning of the page, and the best part we don't need to have every answer yet.
We thank you. Now, please welcome our first senior speaker, Suri Hernandez Santos, who will be attending Chapman University in the fall, majoring in community educational studies to become a teacher. >> [cheering] >> Thank you, Fabian. Can everyone see me and hear me? Good evening, students, families, friends, staff, and everyone else. Thank you for joining us on such a special and meaningful occasion. My name is Suri Hernandez Santos, and it is my honor to be one of your graduation speakers today. Graduation has always felt far away, but seeing all of us gathered here today makes this moment real. When we first walked into high school, people told us to enjoy it because it would go by quickly. And as cliche as it sounded, they were right. None of us could have predicted the challenges we could face, not just academically, but in a world that often feels uncertain.
What What did you change to adjust? I was patient. I I know he will get tired to me. That left kick to the head was brutal. Did you know that? Yeah, that kid was his eye roll back and then I went to finish him. What's next for Martinez? Anything. There you go. With this presentation, we intend nothing more but entertainment and this move will promote happiness, to be safe, respectful and be kind. Thank you. Thank you for such a wonderful performance. >> Let's go. Good. Dance, dance, dance. Thank you. >> Thank you, seniors. Welcome, sophomore day. Albert. Alex You are silent. Watch me. Now watch me. Now watch me. Watch me. Now watch me. Watch me. Me. Break your legs. Break it down. Break your legs. Break your legs. Break your legs. Break your legs. Break your legs. pop me. That's me. Superman like you can't LIKE ME.
Um genuine respect for other perspective and he actively seeks out and considers opposing viewpoints. So I think those are going to be two key characteristics for this position. We want that student voice. Um but we don't want it to be isolated. We want these these individuals uh these students to go and engage with their uh fellow students and make sure they're getting all perspectives um regarding an issue. So um with that, I'm going to say I would also recommend that uh along with Claire, I also approve uh Arno as our student board reps for the 20 6-27 school year. Does any board member have any comments or questions? Uh I just like to say welcome and thank you to Danielle for and Rob for uh interviewing the candidates. I know you had a lot of tough choices. One thing I would like to throw out to the board is I think it would be good for uh our student board members to have a mentor.
And with that, I'd be happy to answer any questions. Mr. Shepherd, not necessarily tied to the Treasurer's [clears throat] report, but did we We're in the window now for the bonds for the second round of bonds. Is that not Is that coming up? >> [gasps] >> Yeah, so the the tentative bond sale is scheduled to be June 1st. >> Okay. Perfect. Before things get even crazier in the market. Any other questions? Okay. Uh next topic is student lunch prices. So, over the last few years, we've been able to keep uh keep the lunch price for students uh flat, and we have not had to raise it in the last couple years. Um this is dictated by the the federal government and a tool they put out there called paid lunch equity. And the the purpose of this tool uh in helping you set lunch prices is to make sure that the program is is self-sustaining, meaning it's taking in enough revenue uh to pay for operations, right?
This student leads by example, showing kindness, integrity, responsibility, and respect every single day. The Soaring Eagle Awards celebrates those who don't just do the right thing sometimes, but they do it all the time. You're getting a fun yard sign, so good luck putting that under your chair. Please be careful when you're walking. The first recipient of this goes to Steven Meath. Next we have six of them. So the next is Jacob Young, Aya Pelch Leilani Ola, Kaden Long, and Ryan Noi. If you were a Soaring Eagle this year, a soaring eagle, not student spotlight, [clears throat] but soaring eagle this year, please stand up, including the ones that just got it. [applause] Good job. If you have been a soaring eagle during your time at CMS in the four years, please stand up. >> [applause] >> Great job. Two students were recognized last month as the DAR Daughters of the American Revolution Award.
We've not been able to get a soccer field built here close to campus. And so that's always been the intention. We've been working on it. And so that has turned into a little bit more of a longer term agreement than what we had initially [clears throat] intended that to be. So we went ahead and put some things in place in writing to address that as well. One of our big things with Antioch is we want to make sure that we are always paying our way and that it's not costing the church anything. We're very thankful for their partnership. So, we did outline some of the structures in place as far as some of the fees and got some of those written down in here and then we can look at them and renew them or review them as needed. And then also we are adding in a facility usage fee as well.
Leonard to create this position as needed. >> Any questions or comments? >> We have other pre teachers. So that whatever contract we came up with is not reinventing the wheel. It's going to be based on what already have >> depending. We are going to try to get somebody that has the same license as Teresa and also has that special ed background as well as the early childhood development. >> I don't know how likely that is, but that's what we're talking about. >> Any other questions? >> All those in favor say I. >> I post same. Motion carries. 250 year celebration. Mr. Bainy, >> I'm very excited to to present this one and announce it in and hope that we can uh get this moving forward. We have had a private donor come to us um who would really like to provide a big time fireworks show for Nightstown for the 250th celebration.
