Oh, did he just Katie will second. Oh, I misheard that. Okay, thank you. The other way around. Let's do it the right way. Thank you for correcting that. All right, Cindy, please lead us in a roll call vote. Slyker? Yes. Meadows? Yes. Gonzalez Thomas? Yes. Garrels? Yes. Arlandu? Yes. Kilburg? Yes. Susicki? Yes. Motion passes. Congratulations. >> [applause] >> We'll figure out where you sit later. That's not it today. Thank you. We're going to do a picture, guys. Roll call. >> No, no, no, no. I'm getting out of the way. Yeah, you guys can do your thing. I'm out of the way here. Do they have to do it now? Hm? Do they have to I'll get behind you guys. August. Yeah. One, two. Thank you very much. Make sure your parents get theirs. Thank you. >> [applause] >> You're welcome. Sorry. All right. Well, that was fun.
Okay. Um next we'll go um to Mr. Shepherd and Mr. Martin for our summer construction update. Good evening, everybody. Sorry, can I backtrack just for a moment? >> Yeah, I forgot to say Student lunch price, would you like that in section seven or eight? Seven. In section Thank you. Sorry, Mr. Martin. No, all good. Got to keep those lunches. All right, so this summer we have tons of projects, literally tons and tons of projects happening at all our schools in the district. I'm just going to go down the list starting at Briergate. We already have the solar panels being installed at Briergate. I'll be getting some pictures for the next update. And more posted on our website under the construction page under operations showing some of those new solar panels getting installed there. Same the monument sign got its facelift that happened this past week Thursday Friday.
Kazan. Congratulations to Kota Hudson. >> [applause] >> and then you get a sheet. So, Emory and Cota, your names will be added to the plaque that's on the wall outside um the office. Miss Heidi Klein, will you come stand by me, please? She does not know that we're about to create an award for her, but it's definitely deserved. This year, we are adding a very special award. This award is in honor of Mrs. Heidi Klene, and we are calling it the Stay Gold Award. Heidi retired last year, and she has left a lasting impact on our school and all of the students she has taught. This award honors a teacher who built strong, meaningful relationships with both students and staff and who encouraged generations of students to hold tightly to what is good and true within themselves. Through her teaching of the outsiders, Mrs. Klein shared Johnny's powerful reminder to stay gold, to remain genuine, hopeful, and true even when life is difficult.
And so, we'll pay for that upfront. And it will be $2,000 is what we'll pay for that. The property maintenance related to the parking area, weed control, minor upkeep, things like that for the bus section is $1,500. And then a property use fee for the general property fee um of us having the amount of traffic out there that we do is $1,500. So that comes up to $5,000 annually at this time for the the bus. And then for the soccer portion of it, again, for that piece, because it's a different part of the parking lot that we use, we also provide the gravel for that. And so that's three loads of gravel for $1,500. We do use their dumpster as well. And so we're contributing $400 towards the dumpster. And then a property use fee that would support the use of the church property, parking areas, and related infrastructure since we do have again games and activities going on out there.
I was told 40 minutes. >> Oh, wow. >> But I don't I don't know. But I I don't know that for sure. But that's what what we're >> so incredibly incredibly grateful to that person. >> Board's pleasure. >> I make a motion that we move forward um with planning or how how should we word it um for the 250th celebration. >> Second. >> Motion by Mrs. Van Holly. Second, Mr. Richardson to approve the continuating planning for the 250 year celebration.
And we are doing that. We have a licensed HVAC staff member on our maintenance department that is 24 hours. Literally, I called him tonight to make sure the air conditioning stayed on. So, for our for our meeting over the votes here. So, he was working after hours tonight to make sure we had air conditioning on. So, he's his feedback from him and of course our administration and staff. So, we've had a lot of eyes on these mechanics, facilities, doors, windows. And of course our teachers as well will tell you they'll be the first to tell you when the air conditioning isn't working. They will. Especially when you get these hot humid days that come out of nowhere. So, this first document focuses on HVAC throughout the district. We again outside evaluation on these systems as well as our in-house licensed HVAC staff member constantly updating these ideas and providing preventive maintenance.
So, uh on the item C3, Mr. Allen, uh for action item tonight, um I am absolutely thrilled that we've been working. I want to thank Mrs. Gray and Joe Wiley as well with North Miami schools. As Mr. Hanson leaves there as superintendent working with Huntington, we have of course would love him to be here each day. It's an unfilled position that requires an awful lot of attention and work and I wanted to be cognizant of North Miami schools as well. So the contract of services you have will say up to 20 days. There are 22 work days in June. I believe it will probably end up 15 days here and 7 days at North Miami, but Joe Wiley wrote that up to up to 20. Be daily rate. He will begin his actual contract on July 1, but I will tell you I appreciate North Miami working with us and also looking forward to getting Mr.
So, definitely love to see that. Yep, big big game. A lot of times those freshmen have a tough time in big games and Pellegrino shying away from taking one-on-one. Gets one goal past the goalie for her ninth goal of the season. Mack Whitworth Taylor up on the draw. Kind of feel like Chick Hearns and Johnny Most up here, Emerson. I don't know who that is. >> [laughter] >> But like I'll take your word for it. >> and the Celtics announcers from the '80s. Oh. Your dad will appreciate it. >> Yeah, he will. >> I would try to slide one in there and you you'd know who it was. >> I But Tried. Mack Whitworth, Sabina McKechnie feeds Whitworth. Whitworth goes in and out of four girls and that is a goal. And that is how you do it. Count them. Most of the times I just count the girls as Mack goes by and when she gets that full head of steam, nobody's going to be stopping her.
Um, it is two overnights and we took a total of 46 students um ranging from all shops um that competed in various competitions that are shop specific as well as leadership competitions. Mia [clears throat] was also able to bring 25 students to be voting delegates for her. Um so they had a whole day of speeches, questions that she had to answer. Um and then it ended with all delegates from all schools um voting for the next officers. Um so depending on how many students you have in your school determines how many delegates go, we got to bring 25. Um so in addition to our gold medal winners, we had silver medal winning um students winning in CNC 5 axis milling, Kayla Lynch from Advanced Manufacturing. Um we had career pathways showcase natural resources, agriculture and food. So, our environmental science students, um, we had three students here.
Um so, that's Federal Street School. Uh >> Is there a plan for by the dumpsters? I know that there's a brick wall out back there that's been concerning. Yeah, we can take what the best thing instead of trying to rebuild it cuz all this is kind of a little privacy type thing. We could take the top two two or three layers of bricks down and then just cap the top off and keep the rest that's good and good working order and secure, keep that there, but just take off the the layer that the if you were to take off a few layers, you're probably going to remove like a foot in height and and that's like a 10-ft high wall, so it'll be 9 ft, which is not a problem, and you could cap it off and the rest of the wall would be fine.
Who wants to speak? Concerned citizen. Um, I echo everything she said. Sit down. We have now some difficult decisions to make. The first thing that needs to be addressed is teachers. The threat, scare tactics, false information, potential loss of teacher positions needs to be addressed. Public taxpayers, and from what the administration has said, these teachers' jobs are safe. >> [clears throat] >> What has been stated by the Board of Finance meeting last night, emails to many town officials and overwhelming taxpayer statements, even former teachers, administration is top-heavy and needs to be cut. Plain and simple. Yes, that's difficult to tell a friend you're fired. But you put in that position by years of poor responding. Not taking wage freezes, not trying to hire assistants to take the load off of your job, and hiring secretaries to then take the load off of their their jobs.
Our recipient is pursuing a degree in elementary and special education at Providence College and I know she will encourage and inspire children far into the future. Please join me in congratulating Julia Gess [applause] as this year's Susan Future Educator Award recipient. [applause] Next, I'd like to introduce Greg Bell and Andy Conrad, who will be sharing the awards for the music department. [applause] The chorus award is given annually to a student who exemplifies the hard work and dedication needed in a performing ensemble, but also and just as importantly provides the spirit that simply brings joy to everyone around them and the leadership to help them succeed. This year's recipient has an incredible talent on stage that comes with a natural grace and ability. However, this student does not take that for granted and is consistently working to improve their craft. And in doing so, they inspire everyone around them to be the best versions of themselves.
To my fellow graduates, may you find all the pieces of the puzzle that complete your picture. And if you ever lose your way, remember, you can always pick up the pieces and start again. Graduation isn't about finishing the puzzle. It's the first edge of the puzzle and we get to build it from here. Thank you and congratulations, class of 2026. >> [cheering] [applause] >> Thank you so much, Jake. Let's give them a round of applause again. At this time, I would now like to introduce our very own Cypress High School Choir, who will be performing How Does a Moment Last Forever, arranged by Mac Huff. Let's hear for our choir. >> [music] >> How [music] does [singing] a moment last forever? How [music] can a story never [singing] die? It is This >> [music] >> we must hold on to. Never [music] easy, but we try.
Today isn't about looking back. It is about looking forward. But the future isn't something we enter. The future is something we create. Over the past four years, there have been moments I felt hopeless, times I convinced myself that I would never get to see this day. I would like to ask everyone to close their eyes for a moment and think of a memory where you thought you wouldn't be on this field today. That moment that you just thought of is proof that you can overcome anything. Ayer lo soñamos y hoy lo logramos. No matter where life takes us, let us remember the lessons we have learned here. Work hard, stand tall, explore fearlessly, and above all, believe in yourself. Thank you. >> [applause] >> Thank you, Syria and Arlene, for your touching speeches. Our band will now perform Cyrus the Great by King Karl King, and directed by Daniel Castellanos.

All right, item four, recognition of Jen Hicks. Brad, would you please do the honors? >> [clears throat] >> We have a couple little uh appreciations for Jen. Uh Jen uh started student teaching in the district 35 years ago. Uh she has carried many titles since then, teacher, uh she was a division coordinator when that was a title uh back in the day. She was an assistant principal, an associate principal, and in 2000, uh when the world kind of fell apart a little bit, she became the principal of the largest elementary school in Batavia, which was the Batavia Virtual Academy, when we went online. So, Jen took that on, she made it absolutely incredible experience for our students and that really is the hallmark of Jen's leadership is giving students an amazing experience. She's so focused on that. She's a true inspiration to all of our district.
And looks really good and I'm going to work with the school and the PTO to see how they want to decorate the the ground in front of it versus just mulching it. And then for Briergate the next thing is going to be parking lot signs. Cuz again what we did at Deerpath when they're all faded out. So they need to be updated and improved to make sure those are all correct. Oh, I did put some pictures on there. Excuse me. Does the parking lot signs also like re-striping like arrows in here and >> We do that like every summer like normally and I need to go get some pricing for that like just to make sure the price we got last year which was really good price but to make sure it's competitive still. >> Okay, thank you. Okay, some pictures for Briergate. All right, Gary Jr.
To stay gold means choosing integrity, compassion, and authenticity, and keeping your spirit strong despite challenges. This award is presented to two students who not only reflect that spirit individually, but also strengthen it in one another through their friendship. They lift each other up, stay true to who they are, and protect the good within themselves and each other, shining even brighter side by side without letting the world dim their light. Congratulations for our very first stakeold award to Ella Hitzman and Gabby Stumpf. [applause] here. Girls, girls, here's your award. At this time we would like to recognize other students who participated in clubs, events and sports throughout the year. So as I say the activity or the club or the sport, please stand up if you participated in that this year. So our first program this year, if you participated in the acceleration program, please stand.
That takes a longer presence is $3,600. So that would be $5,500 to be out there. And then on top of that, we do take care of the mowing out there as well, [snorts] but we pay for that ourselves. We don't pay for that as part of the usage agreement. >> Thank you. >> You're welcome. >> We have we have m is it Wagers? >> Currently, it's Wagglers and stuff. So, um, we're going to look at that and get some bids for it moving forward. >> I think there's a couple reasons why the year toyear or the one-year agreement. Um, one one reason is because honestly the contract renewal kind of snuck up on us. So, um, you know, we began talking about it in February. It was April 1 and just didn't really give a lot of time for discussing things. Um, you know, prices change.
Any questions? All those in favor say I. >> I. I. >> Opposed the same. Motion carry 6. Thank you. >> Uh, anyone from the public wish to step to the microphone? >> You got a 9.04. >> Oh, excuse me. You're right. I do. Uh 9.04 was the this posting of the uh superintendent's contract draft to be publicized for the public to give feedback on. We need to approve the posting and >> Mr. President um will make the motion to approve the posting of the superintendent contract. >> Second, Mr. President. >> Motion to Mrs. Neil, second Mr. Leonard to approve the posting of the superintendent contract draft. All those in favor say I. >> I opposed the same. Motion carries 6. Now, >> there's a button right on the top of the microphone. >> Hello. >> Perfect. >> Make it quick. Um, KESPTO wanted to uh in order to help bring the school supply lists down.
