Backto back hits for the Clockers here as they look to get some insurance before the last inning. >> Yeah, that's great that Ruby gets her first hit of the day. uh in a really big spot to keep this inning going because most importantly what you want to do is you want to see how close to the top you can possibly get in case they need to have a bottom of the seventh. Right now obviously you've got a 10 to six lead. Um, but how how many times can we keep this thing going here with two outs to get back to Nico if at all possible >> as CGsman who is two for two will pull back a bunch and two and 0. The Ashland uh boys baseball team unfortunately were defeated at home by Westwood 5 to1 and the freshman baseball team finished their season 10 and0 with a 15-3 win against Westwood.
Um I've appreciated spending time with you guys learning because when I met with you the first time I was like, I don't even know what you're talking about. Then I met up with you again and go, oh, I think I might be getting it. So, um I just appreciate the time and and effort that you guys gave to me to understand truly what it is that you do. So, thank you for that. Yeah, that vis- the virtual, you know, the the little I don't know what it was called, but the little room where you go in and it it projects and at at Fairfield was yeah, is it is pretty incredible to think about. >> And Gil, I think that's also a great example of how we want to be a resource, you know, for the school district. We aren't educators, we aren't, you know, in in the school business.
Uh fortunately, that family member is is on their way to make a uh complete recovery, but I just wanted to extend my gratitude for the for the the support that uh my family received uh during a very difficult and scary period over the past few weeks. So. That's all I have. Thank you, Makita. And it's good news. Always good news. Thank you. Randy. Um I'm done. You're done. I'm done. >> You don't want to do any more. Nope, I have nothing else. Okay. All right, last last week. I would like to thank the members of our current board. I would like to say that this is the last time I'm going to chair. Cuz the next 2 years I'll be just an associate member. And that's fine. Do what I need to Don't say just. It makes the rest of us feel like you know I'll [laughter] be just a associate It's never just, Joe.
>> Oh, that's good to hear. That means the future is bright. >> It is as that one gets by and Kazadian will get to second base standing up and it is a three-0 count here to Criggsman who's looking to reach base for the was it fourth time today. Yeah, Rebecca's been on Rebecca has been an onbase machine today. Uh, two two for two with a pair of walks, right? >> Yeah. >> Or one walk, I believe. And then this or maybe is it two walks? No, one walk. But that one is blooped to third and a catch made by Abby Johnson to end the six, but Lurai Colette comes through. And will that be enough? 10 to nine as we go to the seventh. Clockers are three outs away from their 14th win. >> Yeah, huge huge huge hit there by Laura Colette. She she takes a fast ball over the center field fence.
We are in the construction business. We understand that. So, we would love to be a resource for you guys moving forward. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Is there any public comment at this time? Okay. This was um informational only, so uh no action is needed this evening regarding this item. We're moving along to uh board member request to agendize item. Yes. Do you want to take it away or do you want me to introduce you and what you're going to talk about? I'll do it. >> Okay. Um so, in the recent past we've had conversations regarding um the use of Chromebooks for instruction in the classroom. We made some slight changes to board policy on that. Um however, given the the research that is coming forward and continues to come forward, um I feel that we need to continue to have discussions and um and look at if if we need to make any additional changes to the use of Chromebooks for instruction um but that being said, not only for instruction, but you know, there's also free time that happens and I think what got to me the most was um you know, I have a 2 and 1/2 year old grand baby and I'll see what appears to be a 2 and 1/2 year old kid in a shopping cart on a phone and I think as that kid gets to school and they might be spending x amount of time on their Chromebook at school and x amount of time you know, doing videos and whatever at home um I think we we just need to continue to have the discussion to make sure that we're doing the right thing for students.
You're a You're a fifth of a five-member board. >> that thank you. >> But some of you may not have realized, but I kept uh something very close vested over the past year or so. And uh even my wife didn't know. Because I didn't want her to worry. And as a result of that, >> [clears throat] >> my mind was preoccupied throughout this year. And it's pretty evident that Brandy picked up the slack that I left on the table, and I just wanted to thank you so much. No. It wasn't right for me to do that, but my mind was totally preoccupied. You were preoccupied with the budget stuff and the override. Well, I had a I had a health scare. And it was a cancer scare. And that's all it was was a scare. I got great reports uh the other day about a week and a half ago.
Another absolute rope. Her second home run of the day. Her fourth hit of the day. Her second RBI. Uh again, she she is hitting the ball better than anybody on the team right now in the last two games. Absolutely seeing beach balls. Like I said earlier, uh keeping this team in this game and and giving them a a clutch hit to go ahead coming into the seventh inning. >> Holly Cashin look to get a save here. >> Actually, Holly Cash is going to get the win. >> Actually, she will get the win. Correct. Correct. >> Holly Cashion looking to get the win. Um, and let's hope that the defense can can stand tall behind her right now. And and let's hope that Holly can just throw strikes, right? Limit the walks. Like we've said, we've got to have no more free passes. Can't afford any in this inning.
So, that's your motion? I would like to make a motion to agendize make sure I get this right. Agendize um the use of Chromebooks in the classroom for well, I'm just going to say the use of Chromebooks in the classroom. I'll second that. >> Okay, thank you. Any public comment? First time here, fourth time speaking. I'm so excited. I can't wait. My Wednesday babysitter is going to get a raise cuz I'm going to be here more often. Um I can't be more in support of continuing to have this conversation about Chromebooks in the classroom. I think the data that keeps coming out is really devastating about what that does to the kids and what that does to our development for our kids in um learning and creating a safe place to learn on um the campuses that we provide as a district. A little hilarious that introducing new technology, now we're trying to pull it back cuz we're realizing how how it is to kids.
And I don't have what everybody thought I was going to have. So, I am I'm stuck with it. You're stuck with me for a lot longer than the anticipated. But uh I just want to thank Claudia and Makita, Yolanda, Brandy for your continued and understanding and support. We've traveled through on a lot of tough roads over this past year. And even years prior as as as as a group together. And uh I can't be any prouder um of the work that's been done. And we've taken a stand. Uh there's been some shortfalls and unfortunately, you know, out of our control. And people have to understand that. We've done everything that we needed to do to make this town a much better place to live in, raise our families, raise watch our grandchildren have fun going to school here and and raising um a lot of concerns about having fun.
Uh, who do we have coming up, Jacob? >> We have the two, three, and four spots. Abby Johnson, Brooke Benjer, and Isabelle Walsh. So, it is going to be a tough one to get, though. Johnson is 0 for three with a walk. Brooke Benjur's one for three. She's scored three times today. And Isabelle Walsh has walked three times and she also has an RBI hit. >> So big inning. >> This is a huge huge inning here. A big spot uh for the sophomore pitcher in the circle making a a rare appearance for the year. But Holly is a good pitcher. Uh she's done she did a great job for for the clockers. last year and this is probably one of the biggest spots she's been in in her her young career here for Ashland. >> The clockers are hoping they don't even need to go back at up at the plate.
Interesting that we're having that conversation in this meeting as well. Hi again, my name's Kelly. Uh I just want to say that I appreciate that you are examining the updated data because um it has bothered me as a parent to think that my kid's going to be on a screen as much as I've heard um in some of the older grades. He's in kindergarten now, so really no screens, but um I thank you very much for looking into that and I I do hope that there will be less time spent on on the Chromebooks. Thank you. Any other comment from the public? Um let's see. So, we had a motion and a second by me. Um and I get I think we have some opportunity to discuss this and so um doesn't come as a surprise that I'm in full favor or full um approval of discussing this more.
And sometimes we forget that. This is to me is this is fun. I'm a lifelong resident here and I wouldn't want to be any place else. Wouldn't want to be any place else though I've had the opportunity. So I would love to thank Catherine, Michael, Beth, Susan and Diane for providing the leadership during these trying times and keeping Ashland on a straight path towards the future. It has been my honor and it's been my privilege to serve as your chair and I look forward to serving my last two remaining years on the board for our residents and for our future. So thank you. And I'll entertain a motion to adjourn. So moved. I'll All those in favor? I. I. Thank you. >> say so. And thank you, Joe. >> Thanks, Joe. We're a big we're a big team here. Thank you. Appreciate you guys. We're done.
Three outs away from a win. First pitch, Johnson shoots it. Foul down the first base line. A little bit behind there. >> Yeah, so she was behind there. Uh, so we got to wake up, make sure the right side is is is ready. I got Kyrie Beerman in Cotch here. Should be looking for action uh to see if something comes at them here in the bottom of the top of the seventh. Mentioned Johnson is 0 for three. She did walk and score and it is a ball there. So, one ball, one strike. >> 14 hits for Ashland, eight for Westwood. >> So, 22 hits combined, >> 19 runs. That is a late swing and a nice grab from Kyra in foul territory. And she was ready on the right side. >> Yeah, it was a really nice play by Caroline going and getting that low dipper.
We've made some what I consider to be substantial changes in regards to um our board policy in regards to the use of technology, the use of um constructive um technology use. Um but I'm very Treat Miss much anticipated. This. I I just want Oh, okay. Well, I just wanted uh the public to know that um if you haven't uh looked at the revised board policy, one of the major policy decisions was that Chromebooks are not going to be sent home with elementary school students at all. Um so, I don't didn't know if you saw that policy update, but I think it's an important one. All right. Um so, if there's no further board discussion, did you want to make a comment? Uh Question, a question. >> process. I know I know we have a process for agreeing to put something on a future agenda, but now I'm confused about the sequence of that action.
See you on the Show meeting June 3rd. Yeah. June 3rd. Be there. We need we need 25 votes. >> That's [laughter] right. We need 25 registered voters. Yep. Thank you.
I thought that thing might scoot underneath, but she made a nice play getting that glove down. And uh we got one out here in the in the top of the seventh. >> She's had a couple nice catches like that. Just barely getting it before it hit the dirt. >> Yeah, obviously I I'm a little biased, but I think she has to be a candidate for our gobbler uh gobbler defensive player of the game. >> I would agree as that ball is smoked out into left center field. Creman on the run and she won't get there. >> Going to second base. She's going to stop there as Brooke Bender nearly tied this game up. That ball was way out there into the gap. >> Yeah, that was a she she she laced that one. That was a good gap for a big double. Um, you know, it's there's the the >> tying run is now in scoring position, which is which is a tough spot for Holly to be in.
Do we decide tonight I think what we're deciding um tonight is just if we are um in favor of putting it on a future agenda. Got it. I'm not making um changes with the any policy or anything. Thank you. Okay. Um And I think it would be I mean, if you decide to do this, then I would be working with the president and then also the motion maker and we'd figure out what's an appropriate meeting to have this on a future agenda. Thank you. Are you comfortable with that? Okay. Let's go ahead and vote all together. All those in favor of um adding this to our future agenda to be determined um regarding the date, um but just we're just uh basically saying that we'd like to see this on our future agenda. All those in favor, signify by saying I. I. Opposed? All right, this passes 4 to 0.
That's why I think Coach Sasso is going to come out and have a conversation just about seeing if we can get this thing through. just throw strikes. Just try to try to keep this one from going into the bottom of the seventh >> as Isabelle Walsh will dig in. >> No, no, it looks like they gave another free pass to Isabelle Walsh. They they put her on again. >> That's the fourth walk. She's only had one at bat, five plate appearances, only one registered at bat. >> Two intentional walks for her. Um clearly they did not want to see her uh up at the plate with a runner in scoring position in such a huge spot. >> Instead they're gonna face Eve Clinton who has two hits and four runs driven in. So we'll see if this benefits them as that's a ground ball to third or shortstop.
Okay. Moving along um to adjournment, um is there a motion to adjourn this meeting? I so move. Is there a second? I'll second. We have a motion um by member Hayes and a second by uh Vice President Olsen. Let's go ahead and vote. All those in favor? I. I. Opposed? All right, this passes. Meeting adjourned.
A toss from Nicois to the third baseman Colette. And that was well done. And there's two away. Really a nice play by Nico. Has to be the other top candidate for the Ger defensive player of the game here. She she fielded her position tremendously well when she was pitching and that's another really heads up play to get the lead runner in an important spot for the second out here in the top of the seven. So the tying run was a race at third. Now it is back at second. It's the first pitch to Granada for a strike. A one for four day with a couple RBI's for Katherine Granada. Great to see Holly get ahead here on the count. Uh in a really big spot here up one run in the seventh. >> She tries to strand a couple. That's a ground ball. Cashion will watch it.
