His drive, his love, his compassion went way beyond the ordinary. He cared deeply about this city and its residents. The love he had for his family was truly story book worthy. No matter how busy his schedule became, his commitment to Robin and his kids and his grandkids never wavered. He always made time to be at every event, every game, and he pushed them. I'm never going to understand to I earned his friendship and his unwavering support in so many ways. I am forever grateful. I will miss him every day and I am a better man for having the privilege to have known him. And then we lost Arnie. Um 99 years old, that's a blessing. He gave so much to this community. You know, Arnie was one of the first people to come up to me and encourage me to do what I'm doing now.
But, we are trying to plan and, um, do it like Frederick said in an economical way, um, but also the size of our district knowing that it's not something you'd ever be able to do in one summer or one year. That's great background. I I appreciate you both. Thank you. And then Ms. McCulloch, not to interrupt, but during curriculum you said you were being very strategic as to where you were starting. So, you were kind of starting at the places that were in most need of updates and then kind of working your way. So, I think that's an important note there. Thank you. Yeah. I was just going to say just for the matter of procedurally because I know Mr. Wilson's new. Frederick and Mario, they came to technology which you'll be a part of and did a full demo for us. So, this isn't neces- I mean, this isn't necessarily new tonight.
Asking for help is not a weakness. Using accommodations is not a weakness. Having a guide, an interpreter, a teacher, a coach, or even a mentor is not a weakness. That is wisdom. Success is not about pretending you do not need support. Success is about knowing what helps you be your best and having the courage to use it. As you leave this school and move into what is next, people may try and define you by one part of your life. They may focus on your disability. They may underestimate you. They may assume they know what your future should look like. But your future belongs to you. You get to decide what you want to chase. You get to decide what person you want to become. You get to decide how to you respond when things get difficult. And I promise you, things will get difficult sometimes.
What are we missing this month? Well, there's some yes no there decisions in there, but there's nothing crazy. Most of them are administrative updates or just routine decisions we have to make as to whether we want an exception or we want to go with the standard verbage. Couple of those choice lines, but So, we'll discuss that on the second reading, and yeah. One problem? Any other questions, concerns regarding the first reading?
Right now, this is the last approved calendar that we have for the board. And so, we will be working on that over the summer and gathering more input as we talk about future calendars. >> Any other discussion? >> No, I'm good. >> Do I have a motion? I move to approve the 2627 school calendar as presented. >> I'll second. >> Thank you, Mrs. Denigan Smith, and thank you, Mrs. Counts. All those in favor say I. >> I. >> All those opposed. >> Motion passes four to zero. 7.3, the approval of the supplemental personnel report. >> Thanks, Mr. Russell. The board's asked to review and approve the supplemental personnel report, which outlines recommended additions, changes, and updates to staffing outside the standard personnel cycle. Uh, this action item includes temporary, part-time, or seasonal positions, as well as adjustments necessary to support operational needs. Approval of this report will authorize the administration to proceed with the outlined personnel actions.
I think it's probably one of the more dangerous positions to play in all of sports. Definitely is. It's the hot corner for a reason. Clockers will have 3-4-5, the heart of the lineup due up. Ava Vendetti, Caroline Kyra, and then we'll see Lorelei Collette with the bat. As Vendetti so far today is over one. We saw Kyra have an RBI ground out her first time up. And Carlette had that single on the first pitch she saw. Yeah, I mean really nice if we can get these two going. They they have been two of the better hitters throughout the season. Um Both have have have slowed down a little bit these last five games. So, if we can get them rolling again uh in into the into the tournament. Love to see them start catching fire. Maybe they'll get a little bit of that juice from Lorelei and um get this thing rolling because they both are hitting well over 400 at this point.
We've increased the budget by $16,500 um to $186,500. Um so, hopefully our snow season is not as difficult as it was this year. What you'll see reflected in the capital budget a little later this evening is a request for some snow equipment to you know, kind of ease what our our own team can provide during the winter. Uh and then the other thing that I'll talk about with facilities um that have helps offset um some of our facilities costs is the drip grant, which is uh funding that we were actually, you know, just we just actually got those funds. It's $189,968 that the school school district can use for non-capital repairs and improvements. It's a pretty broad category. Um you know, we've we're looking at our expenses and where we want to spend that this year, but that will help offset some of the um expenditures with with snow removal, which was significantly higher than expected.
Hello. Okay. So, we host many different um meetings at the high school. We have um one of our most recent meetings we made slime to make everybody just feel less stressed especially around midterms and everything. And we just have a lot of club meetings. But the club in itself is to really eliminate the stigma around mental health and student athletes. But here at Treasure High School, we really try to make it so that every student can help and like work on their mental health here also. So as we do host many dedication games, we have two a season. And it's really in a wide range of sports and everything and a lot of people always come and help. And the way that we brought this to the elementary schools is that when we were talking about being involved and how you can be involved in your school community, we talked about how like when you have a good idea, what would you do with that idea?
So, I do think that's a reality, but um It's just that um tacking on to what I'd said, I don't know if you can expand on this, but my understanding right now, you had mentioned the EPC before, the energy performance contract. Um, so the last proposal I saw, I'm sorry, cuz actually I might even be closer to it in some ways than you uh cuz I'm on that energy committee, but the number was $55 million and I think I think Vin told me it's $20 million that is locked in. >> Yes. Like actually locked in with contracts and stuff, uh rates taken from the banks, all that financing, blah blah blah. So, there's another $35 million that is 30 or 35 million that's not locked in, that's at risk right now for whatever reason. Um the 20 million, correct jump on the hearing, tell me if I'm wrong about this, Emily, but the 20 million basically is in short, it's the solar.
They take video and they edit it into these short films. The winner of that competitive capture was the Grant Hills High School team of Ahmad Deset Orcelli Garcia, Justin Grantley, Anthony Grove, Jennaline Negreti, Matthew Perez, and Aiden Reynoso. And while they're getting their awards, I'll just mention that Ahmad was also part of the crew that made the film for Shock Graduation, and it was fantastic. One of the best Shock Graduation films we've ever seen in pin design from the Mountain Desert Career Pathways Competition. Um, similar to her success in Skills USA from Napa Valley High School, first place, Olivia Ashen Brener. Switching gears away from career and technical for a moment. At the county level, we had our spelling bee here. The spelling bee is a terrifying and difficult thing to do, but we had a student who not only won here, but went on and took sixth place at the county level.
>> Good evening. My name is Stephen Traber. I'm our teacher here. For our first award tonight, we have the Renaissance Artist Award. It is my honor to present the Renaissance Artists Award, an award that celebrates a student who embodies the spirit of curiosity, creativity, and excellence across multiple disciplines. This year, that student is Cleo Reb. In a tradition of the Renaissance, when artists were also scientists, thinkers, and cultural leaders, Cleo has made her mark not just as a gifted artist, but as a well-rounded scholar and leader. She brings depth and brilliance to everything she touches, whether it's a painting, a scientific concept for her AP research class, or on stage playing the piano or flute, or just a conversation about current events. As president of our National Arts Honor Society, Cleo has led with passion, creativity, and quiet confidence. She inspires her peers with thoughtful insight and genuine love for the arts and humanities.
And I always offering a warm smile and just telling me and my wife, you know, you're doing it. Keep doing what you're doing. Don't change. Don't do what everybody else is doing. And it meant a lot to me. I always look forward to seeing him and his presence is going to be missed. Just to go over a few things that I've been researching turning to the business of the district. I really believe we got to start acting to relieve our taxpayers financial burden. To achieve this, we need immediate aggressive strategies to drive new revenue and slash operational costs. Based on proven models from other districts, I just have a few things to go over. Uh revenue generation. There are districts that are renting out their facilities. They are aggressively marketing. Now, if we were to aggressively market our stadium and athletic facilities for tournaments and other private events, I think that would create a reliable revenue stream.
You wouldn't have known that. I just wanted to let you know that they did a full technology review for this committee for um I think curriculum we did it, too, right? I just kind of took their words and kind of did it myself. >> I know. And then you remember but I did okay, right? The PCA PTO parent groups, too. So, >> I talked about it there as well. Yeah, just to clarify the just the procedurally um they went through all this with with I I don't doubt it. >> No, no. I know. I just wanted to let you know. I appreciate it. No, it sounds fantastic. I'm all for it. >> Yeah, it's going to be great. The website's super cool, too. Yeah. Further clarification for the board, that proposal from RFP Solutions which is 10.22 that you're asking about, that was received May 11th.
There will be frustrating days. There will be moments where you feel behind. There will be moments where you wonder why something has to be harder for you than it is for someone else. When those moments come, remember this. Different does not mean less. Different can mean creative. Different can mean strong. Different can mean prepared. Different can mean you understand things about resilience, patience, and courage that some people may never get to learn. Your path may not look exactly like everyone else's, but that does not make it any less valuable. In fact, the path you have taken to get here has already shown you are capable of adapting, learning, and overcoming. That matters. Graduation is not just a finish line. It is proof. Proof that you can do the hard things. Proof you can grow. Proof you can keep showing up. Proof that your story is still being written.
Hearing none, may I like to make a motion to approve the first reading press policy 121. I'm the leader. Thank you, Adam. Second. I'll second. Thank you, Tyson. Roll call, please. Yes. Boyer? Yes. Corey? Yes. Freedom? Yes. Smoyer? Yes. Search? Yes. Schumacher? Yes. Perfect. That carries. I close our eyes for action. Next is our discussion items. We'll start off with our facility study. Um I told you about the May 17th where we're going to be doing a walk-through. I will say that the gymnasium is looking very, very nice, and um phase three will be up and running very, very soon cuz tomorrow at noon we have our end-of-year celebrations. And so, the school year will be officially over, and and the coordination is there. Kurt Steve is meeting with the um the the Petker and um every Friday to go over this is what we need to do because there's a lot of cleaning that needs to happen in coordination with phase three as they they they work together.
Recommending the board approve this. Thank you, Dr. Long. Do I have a motion? >> I'll move that the board approve the supplemental personnel report as presented. >> Thank you, Mr. Alexander. >> Second. >> And thank you, Mr. Denigin Smith. >> All those in favor say I. >> I. >> All those opposed. >> Motion passes 40. 7.4. The approval of the bids for the Centerrove High School construction lab renovation. >> Thank you, Mr. Russell. This is part of our continuing project, multi-year project to renovate our schools as needed for additional elbow room. And this time we have some need in our construction labs. It's a very successful program at the high school and we are going to expand the current construction lab um to make more room for more students and more equipment in there. Um we're also working for future phases in that area, but this is the one that we're ready to work on this summer.
Uh but we we want to want to get them back hot. So, a 3-1 lead as we begin the home half of the third here. Ava Welch back on the mound for the Gators. First pitch is a ground ball to third. A nice play there by Bresnahan and the throw is low [screaming] and it was not scooped. Vendetti will take second base as the throw got by. [screaming] It was a bit of a low throw and a tough play there at first base for Derry. Yeah, Vendetti reaches on the error by the third baseman from Grafton and she gets over to second base. Uh but again, we talked about this yesterday. The fact that the the Clockers do consistently make contact is why they do get on base so much. And you take advantage of of an error and reaching on an error but it's not great for your average.
Um capital expenditures plan we'll talk a little bit later with the planning committee. Um the audit report we will talk about a little bit later in the agenda and the same with the cleaning contract vendor and the medical benefits. So, that is all I have for the finance that part of the finance report. Thank you, Emily.
And we asked them the question like, "Have you ever had a good idea? Like what would like if you had any ideas?" And they shared out to us. And a lot of them had really good ideas. Like I know Connor had a few that they like said to him. like one of them had like a multicultural snack club that they really wanted to do just to like get to know each other better. But that was just some ways that we they can get involved. Yeah. Back to Connor. Right. So, with that, uh, now that I've kind of talked to you about the program and what we did to kind of accomplish our mission, I'm just going to talk to you guys a little bit about the takeaways and what we noticed from being out in the elementary school communities. Um, the first thing I'm going to say, Coach Lee kind of got at it earlier.
Mhm. And the 35 million incorporates what I really, really want, I suspect we all really want, which is a lot of those energy savings, like efficiency and conservation measures that give us those savings. That was being targeted toward Doolittle improvements. Like several million dollars in Doolittle improvements. So with that being at risk, a lot of the Doolittle improvements that you were talking about that I think I and I think probably everybody wants to happen. Um in terms of fairness to all the different elementary schools. Yeah. Uh haven't happened, but it is at risk right now to some extent. Um And I can show >> I don't think it's it's not it's wouldn't be a situation where it's like 35 million or nothing. It'd be more like 35 million, something less than 35 million, and then see what survives based on funding. Yes. And what I'll share with you, I'm looking at this cuz I was like I feel like a page didn't print of this.
