After all, board members are not prohibited from gathering information independently outside of a public meeting. Nor are they prohibited from discussing matters with another board member so long as that discussion does not directly or indirectly involve a quorum of other board members. And so I I it's a a hefty attorney general's opinion with actually a um an underlying opinion written by my partner Jennifer Mlennon. So it's it's a long read, but it is pretty informative and really the attorney general is is saying it's it's fact dependent what is discussed in those meetings. So [clears throat] going back to those one-on-one meetings you have with the superintendent. as long as it's background information and you're not sharing with him how you're going to vote on something that would not run a foul of the open meeting law. Is there anything that I didn't answer that you would like to answer?
>> Oh, because he does it for the region. >> well, they'll have to reorganize also. >> Okay. So, Helen just has to worry about who their phone person is. >> Gotcha. So, um, any other takers? Rachel, do you accept? >> I do. >> You're the winner. >> Okay. Uh, CPAC, which sounds like it needs a little sorting out, but if that's what we had before, we can I don't Is there a list of >> how are you subcommittee somewhere? >> No, we don't have any subcommittees. We have somebody on the this year for the first time on regional subcommittee. It's the first time we've ever had one. And as far as I know, we've never CPAC. I know Rachel said she's been representing us at CPAC, but >> I I took over from William. Well, William had been doing it for he told me for the two years before.
and we've been sprinkling them around the region um throughout the that the last two years. Um we also give everyone a baby care package um and we'll go over a little bit of what that looks like and what is it. We also have um some postpartum support groups. We've been running our postpartum support group via Zoom um for the last year and a half. Uh and that one is virtual in Portuguese and in English. And then just this summer, we launched our walking group. Um it's a wellness walking group for mothers uh with a um counselor um who can help them at the spa as they're getting a walking outside and creating community. And that meets every Monday uh starting yesterday um in Framingham. And all these things are free. And then we're always looking to connect uh families to all the wonderful resources in Metro West um that you have available and then increasing awareness on maternal health whether it's uh the benefits of breastfeeding um how to continue breastfeeding when you return to work etc and other things that you have to be aware once you enter the world of being a parent.
Is with great pride that I announced Tanisha Ray as the class of 2026 saludiatoran. Tanisha has consistently taken and excelled in highle course work at Bolton High School while balancing time for a variety of extracurricular activities. She has served as a class officer for the past three years and is currently serving on the executive board for student council. Tanisha's leadership carries over to all that she does serving as captain of the volleyball and tennis teams, editor for the school yearbook, and through volunteer work. Tanisha's hard work and determination have helped her reach this important milestone. Tanisha will also attend Yukon in the fall studying nursing. Congratulations to you and your family. Now, I'd like to ask Miss Alig Ready to stand up. Mr. uh GR, do you want to hold her? So, I have a little write up that was um sent to us to honor Miss Aligretti for her years of service to the children of Bolton.
She shows perseverance by working hard even when things can be challenging and responsibly asks for help when she need she treats both classmates and teachers with kindness and respect. I think that's Ms. Martha Lopez and Ms. Jess Tremble and Ms. Meg Fitzpatrick, if you're all here. Um >> Mr. Boza, would you please come up to the podium? >> Um, so um the winners designed this these awesome pictures. They were uh chosen by of course our fearless leader, Mr. Gengaro, and our team with Team Chewy. And so we have four students and um Madam President, if you can um Yeah, okay. Awesome. So, um first up Yeah, okay. First up, we're going to >> Well, let me just Does anybody Does anybody not know what Chewy is? Okay, well, you never know. Okay, I want to tell a story. Can I have the liberty of telling this little story? >> Yes. >> Friday, I went to a school to see an event and I was told by one of our advisors about a child that was non-verbal all year.
[clears throat] >> And I did read that opinion. Um, and it is long, but it's I believe it's very clear. Um, and that's what these Q&As's are. It's it's literally asking questions about the agenda item and and getting information like about the vendor and uh you know what is what is it that we're um that is being presented to us cost related uh breakdowns like that. So and and nothing in the Q&A process um I believe would be anything related to an open meeting law violation. It's literally gathering information so I can make an informed vote. Um and uh at the same time hoping that my questions that are being asked um could be helpful to other board members too and and our community when they're watching uh they can understand the item as well. Um again uh my concern is it shouldn't matter how questions are coming in and if they're related to the agenda then it should be shared with all board members based on our protocols.
>> I don't remember us ever voting to do that. I don't All right. I Here is what I would like to like to fold on the CPAC until we have a little more information on it. Um, if Pelum I don't remember Pelum having a CPAC because they're supposed to be by district. >> Okay, so we need a little more info. >> It's really common for CPACs to be joint district across the state. Um, and and the our I mean it's we don't need to do this tonight. I'll be at CPAC meetings regardless, but our CPAC calls itself the Pelum Ammerst and regional CPAC. >> Okay. Well, let's find a little more information. Maybe there's some paperwork somewhere or something that we can figure out and then we'll bring the CPAP wrap back for the next time. Um, okay. And then, uh, PTO do. Excellent. Anyone else feelings?
Um this is a little bit more of our virtual support groups here. Um again they're all free. uh folks can register. Um it's really designed for um parents of zero to six months just because those first six months are so different um and unique. And then our child birth classes here just quickly just what it looks like. Um we've had a couple uh sessions in English and in Portuguese as well in Spanish. Um, for general part, our Portuguese classes tend to be the the most popular. Uh, they're doula run. Um, and um, we feed all our participants who are there because it's a long day. It's usually like an eight hour day. Um, most attend with a partner or a support person. They learn a lot about um, birthing techniques. Um, how to be emotionally prepared for a birth and afterwards. Um, and right now we have one open uh for Framingham on June 20th and that's over capacity.
Um my children included. So, it's a very special night for us to recognize Miss Aliggretti. Tonight, we recognize fifth grade teacher Elaine Aliggretti after four decades of remarkable service at Bolton Center School. Miss Aliggretti has always loved the good story. So, we'd like to take some time to tell you the tale of her time in Bolton. We hope that you find it as entertaining and special as she is to us and the many students she has taught. In a bright classroom in Bolton, where glitter sometimes lingered on desks long after spirit day ended, there lived a teacher named Miss Aliggretti. Miss Aliggretti wasn't just any teacher. She was a kind who believed a little sparkle can make any day better. For 40 years, she filled her classroom with learning, laughter, and just the right amount of shimmer. Some days she wore a tutu. Some days she dressed up like a cat in a hat or Sparkella.
Charlotte Saviana. Charlie is the second grade in Mr. Ste's class. She's being recognized for being a contributor and showing integrity. Charlie consistently exemplifies each of the bare necessities and is a wonderful role model for her second grade classmates. She comes to school each day, smile, a positive attitude, and a commitment to always do her best. Charlie works hard in all academic and social situations and shows great determination when learning new challenging skills. She eagerly seeks extra practice and demonstrates a true love of learning through her focus or perseverance and enthusiasm in the classroom. Charlie is also an excellent problem solver who approaches challenges with integrity and determination. She thought she thoughtfully works through both academic and social situations while striving to make positive choices and finds effective solutions. Her kindness, responsibility, and dedication to following classroom expectations makes her an important contributor to our positive classroom community.
I'm going to get real emotional. Kid The child could not speak at all. And because of Rocky, one of our team chewy dogs, she's now speaking. So for anybody that discounts this program, [applause] you have to see it in action. It's really amazing to see it. THANK [applause] YOU SO MUCH. >> THANK YOU. THANK YOU. AND THAT'S that's that's a Rocky has been MVP. He's our newest pup this year. We are in the process of training a new cohort of special pups. And they bring joy to all of our students and staff. The proceeds from this fundraiser that was held in early spring because the designs were made into hoodies, t-shirts that our district and families purchased. The proceeds from that is going back into team chewy to train future pups. And again, to to everyone at the DAS, thank you so much. Dr. Rotolozi and central admin, thank you for believing in the cause.
Um and the option to call in a question um just because if you call it in then it doesn't end up uh shared with the rest of the board um shouldn't [snorts] be used as an excuse for that information not to be shared with the rest of the board is all I'm saying. and board member Van Hook. Madame President, I will say that I have not seen the practice of transcribing the one-on-one meetings for other board members. I mean, whether you want >> Not the whole meeting. Yeah. Just questions, agenda related questions. [snorts] >> Right. Well, I I haven't seen that practice, but I mean, again, as long as it's background information, that's a business decision of whether the board wants to do that or not. It's not an open meeting law [laughter] requirement or an open meeting law problem. Thank you. >> President Wayne, can I uh say a few things about this?
Margaret, you're the winner. Okay. Okay. Comment. I assume we didn't receive any >> superintendent update. >> Um, all right. So, thank you to Colleen and she's here to to back me up. I know that the request was for a quarterly update. However, when we looked at it, we had just provided an update in um early May, end of April. And so, what we decided to attach was a year-toate update cuz the school year is about to end. Um I believe overall throughout the entire year, we've had about nine reports filed. Um, se four were investigated unfounded, three were confirmed bullying or harassment. Um, and then there are two that actually were um duplicates and so we have seven missing incidents. I'm doing you proud so far, Colleen. All right, good. >> Yes. Yes, Dr. Z. Thank you. >> Um, she went through and and kind of listed out.
We were hoping only 10 people would sign up. Now we have 15. So I had to cut off the form and we have to figure out how how to navigate that part. But it's it's been great that we've been getting a lot of traction um and attention. Um and this is the fun part, our community baby shower. Uh the first one we had last year in June um and that was in Hudson um in Let's Be Kids Play Center. We had a total of folks uh 55 registered uh but by the end of the event I think we were close to 80. Uh we had 14 community partners who attended and tabled at the event. All participants received a maternal health bag uh which is the baby care packages. Um and there's a picture here uh of it. It's a tote bag, uh, a baby first aid kit, uh, a baby blanket, a water bottle, and a baby bottle cooler.
And every day, no matter what, she showed up ready to give 110%. Her students always knew something special about Miss Aliggretti. She saw them. Not just their homework or the test scores, but their ideas, their worries, their jokes, their dreams. Most of the time, Miss Algradi taught fifth grade, helping her students grow into confident, curious learners ready to take on the world. She also taught Spanish and fourth grade. Throughout her time at BCS, Miss Aliggrad advised many clubs, including student council, homework club, and the yearbook club. She was often found in the crowd cheering proudly at sporting events, concerts, and talent shows. And oh, how she loves spirits days. Crazy hats. She had 10 sparkles always, tutus, of course. If her students were dressing up, Miss Aliggary was right there with them, sometimes even more enthusiastically. Because to her, school wasn't just about lessons. It was about joy.
Congratulations being recognized for their necessity respect and being a contributor. Ella is a wonderful person who can find the good in everyone. She helps to bring out the best in others. Her kind, helpful, and easygoing nature allow her to be a role model in our classroom, and she consistently does it with a smile and an encouraging word towards others. Ella um Ella um excuse what she what it means to be respectful member of our community, classroom community, and find and she finds a positive and the tasks and activities and she tackles on a daily basis. We are so lucky to have Ella as part of our classroom community. Congrat photos. I don't know. photo is being recognized for respect and integrity. From day one, photo has always been respectful to his classmates. He's polite, caring, and warm-hearted, especially those in need. He resonates calmness in the classroom to his peers and help them work through challenges.
So here we go. First up, you'll see the designs of the winning designs up in the front. But our students, if they're here, hopefully also wore their t-shirts. So first up, Gabriella Fonseca from Clifton High School, GRADE 12. >> [applause] >> NEXT UP, WE HAVE RIHANNA Santiago from Clifton High School, grade nine. >> [applause] >> Evan Gomez also from Clifton High School, grade nine. >> [applause] >> And last but certainly not least, check this out. Miss Joliana Torres from School 11, grade three. >> [applause] >> And Evan this year, wonderful. Thank you so much. So these are the the Joe >> Next to right. >> But, this was Juliana's design. Evan, which one was your design? >> The one on the right. >> Right. So, the top right was Evan. One more round of applause. Thank you SO MUCH. CONGRATULATIONS. [applause] >> NOW, WE'RE GOING TO PIVOT TO STUDENT OF the month.
You know, I agree that we have these communication protocols and when you look at all the different protocols, I think it's important that, you know, if we're going to say that make sure we're doing them, then I think that we make sure that we do all of the board communication protocols. I think what's interesting about this, I was here when it started. I don't know if any of you guys were on the board when this started. Um, we had a former superintendent who felt like she wanted background from the questions coming from the board so that the here as cabinet we could be prepared and have an idea about what questions that we answer during the board meeting. I think there was a concern that hey we ask a question and then we as the as the people in here might have to say I don't know let me get back to you.
No, it's to do this type of report is much easier for Pelum because it's a much smaller school district. Um, so it would not look the same if we were to do it at the region or to do it at Commerce, but this helps us to kind of narrow down to specific classrooms or specific individuals in a presentation of this. Um, what we do see as a district is like we see uh repeat in first grade. Um, and so I believe that there's some behaviors that have kind of bubbled up. And in speaking with Mickey and Den and specifically supporting Miki, um, I kind of know kind of what's been happening. And what is very what I want to kind of narrow in on the responses and the ability for us to kind of direct and see that there's a holistic response here in Palum outside of just like safety plans um, which is outlined.
