and section 2 AI. That's all I'm saying. It's in here and it should it should be followed. So, I'm not I I think you guys are kind of I I I'm not even sure where what you're trying to create out of this. All I'm asking is that the communication protocols be followed and if if there's an agenda question then it's shared with the entire board and I mean you can go ahead and change will to may that does not change the fact that information has to be shared with the entire board. >> Mr. Latenheiser for clarification. >> Y >> questions that are pertaining to the agenda. And to be clear, I have questions sometimes that are like, "Does this say this?" And you're like, "Yes, it's right there." So to be clear, that's not an a question that should be sent out to the board.
So I think it is an important trend to not sort of to not use the numbers to tell the story we want to tell but to really dig into the numbers and understand what some kids are thriving here. There's no question. And obviously there are a lot of kids 49% of our kids 51% of our kids are not at or above standards. Like that's an important thing for us to recognize and talk about. >> I'm really sorry >> senior awards night. So any of you in capable hands? >> So Sarah Best, I I'll take over facilitating from here. >> Yep. >> Okay. >> You're vice chair, right? >> Yeah. I don't know who's taking notes. I just right now realized because William's not here. Uh I do my best. >> I can start from here. Um but I just realized that maybe >> Good luck.
So, we're working on that. Then we have another complaint. What what is 274 Union Street? This was overgrown grass and then some random stuff you know though typically we don't take these kind of complaints or but of don't get involved you know given there's very limited we can do about overgrown grass and all that and uh when last year you know we bring it along with the building department we bring the blight bylaw and Mr. Kingsman you know you was there you know how people was lining up against it you know so but those are the challenges we have right uh uh so given resolving these kind of situations so uh that's with uh 274 union though we did get compliance with it you know and there is another one we picked up today that was sent to us by our DPW you know hopefully we exalt that as well though I mean these kind of situations you know there's there's limited we can do per code uh with the road and complaints.
Um that's it. Uh, does anyone have any questions? >> Yeah, quickly. Um, I know you had mentioned in a previous meeting um that we had a possibility with the school bus contract to house the buses here in Bolton. Wondering what the status is of that and then the benefit if we do get them here in Bolton. >> Yeah, great question. So, um, if we do get to house them in Bolton, then Bolton would receive revenue in the form of um, property taxes. So that is that is my main motivation for housing the buses in Bolton and they'd be closer to our schools which would be somewhat helpful. Um if they aren't housed in Bolton, they would be housed just right over the town line in Manchester right across from Highland Park Market. So it is only a few miles away. Um but it would be a little more convenient to have them in Bolton and it would also bring in additional revenue um with the property taxes.
Any questions? I think it's long overdue. Uh I think this is uh well thought out, well written. I' I'd be happy to endorse it as a final read tonight. >> State been talking about this forever, >> right? >> It needs to take action. >> Well, I I would take a motion either as a first or as a I could take it as a final rate. >> This isn't anything that like it's not like a policy. So, there's nothing that says it's first read or second read. It's what the board would feel comfortable it would do, >> right? Because I'm assuming this would be from the Canton board of education. So, if the board adopts this, I could submit it to Cave. They then it will be voted on by CA on whether the resolution uh moves forward, but at least we get our name on the board.

CONGRATULATIONS. >> [applause] [cheering] >> NEXT RECIPIENT FOR ELEMENTARY IS STEPHANIE RIZZI. >> [cheering] [applause] >> CONGRATULATIONS TO STEPHANIE Rizzi for being recognized as elementary employee of the month. That's bonkers. I I again I I just wish to express it because outside of that questions that pertain to the agenda that are not already in the information we have in front of us are shared out. Is that correct? No matter how those questions were asked. >> Yes. Uh here's here's how we've done it. Obviously when we get an email address or email, we can look at it and respond. when we're having a conversation a lot of times those questions aren't the in the things governing board member Van Hook when you sent the questions in there might have been seven different questions pertaining to a different thing very more specific those aren't the questions that's happening but are there are questions that require us or I have to go back to the staff and say hey we have an issue with something Sharon I need you to look this up find it whether it's about a board agenda or any kind of question that we get.
Thank you. >> Congrats to your senior Sarah. Um I >> um I just wanted to I'm doing some learning myself and I imagine Mickey would have plenty to offer to teach us in this area or Tanya or or Dr. But I'm just learning some outside of this space about looking at data for small schools being it it just is different and interpreting the data has to be done differently. I didn't have like a conclusion there. I just kind of wanted to point to that as a factor as like we're looking at this across from Ammerst and the region and that I think there's different uh takeaways. I don't quite know what they are but I think that's something that will be helpful for us to learn as a committee. And that's one of the reasons we have that note on the bottom under it. It says, "No, Pelum Elementary School represents a small student cohort.
Uh the only one we have uh uh or the active one is the Chestnut Brook, you know, where the bus stop is. I I've been there uh last week as well, you know, have not seen any any new activity. So hopefully that get resolved too, you know. So they did get the pest control that we asked them. Um but still open, you know, with us with the disease investigation. uh uh we did had a few tickborn uh uh tickborn disease cases with us you know and then there are two active TB cases that we are working uh and other than that for the tickbone cases we have we have ordered 300 tick uh kits today uh that we'll be distributing at the farmers market we we have uh booked couple of slots uh during our farmers market season for for a table there you know to distribute t uh kits as well as you know educational material to our residents.
>> You think good likelihood of that? >> I'm cautiously optimistic. Yes. Awesome. I'm working on it. >> It's probably pretty much the same to them. depends on how they send their people out like they have to check in or something. But >> um um the 107 supplemental is that baked into the 325 yet or >> It is not. >> No. Great question. It is not >> too early to tell what to do with it basically. >> Yes. >> Yeah. >> Any other questions? Uh we have minimal unfinished business. We have one item of new business and that's resignations. >> Yes, we'd like to thank uh BCS custodian David Spanelli for his service to Bolton Public Schools. He has submitted his resignation and we wish him the best of luck. >> All right. Any future business? Well, then we are looking for a motion to adjurnn.
>> Luke, just so you know, on the agenda, it does say that um review and possibly approve a submit submission. Oh, >> so there is the ability to actually approve it this evening if you feel you'd like to do so. >> So I'll take a motion then accordingly and then we'll have more discussion. Mr. Shler, so moved. Second. >> Thank you, Ally. So I have a first and second. Further discussions on the resolution.

Stephanie truly embodies the One City philosophy through her compassion, teamwork, and unwavering commitment to uplifting those around her, making her exceptionally deserving OF THIS RECOGNITION. >> [cheering] [applause] >> THE NEXT AWARD GOES TO for middle school is Roman Sasuchen. >> [applause] >> On being recognized as middle school employee of the month. Roman is a highly deserving recipient of the middle school employee of the month recognition for his exceptional dedication, work ethic, and pride in maintaining Woodrow Wilson Middle School. He consistent consistently goes above and beyond to ensure the building is clean, safe, and fully prepared for students and staff each day, taking great pride in his work.
That's why you'll see it in status and that's why you'll see it come forward in status with the Q&As's. The timeliness of that is is a quick turnaround when we get them on Monday morning and we go through as a cabinet and say here's who's going to be assigned to do the different things to look at it but having a conversation and that's why I think what's nice even right now is demonstrating this where you are all having a conversation together. It's not one-way communication, right? This is the ability to have an answer given and then somebody else come back and have an answer and to go back and forth, which I think is a healthy thing for a group of people to be able to do. And so when those one-on-one preparation meetings are simply going through the agenda and seeing some some of the presentations before they come here because it's the same exact information that would be presented to go to every single person going there you know and I think that again each board member is going to be prepared and prepares [clears throat] to your point uh governing board member Van Hook your background and experience is different than other people's background and experience is different than the next one.
Minor ships and individuals performance can cause significant year-over-year percentage um validity." So like making sure we always have that note when we presentable because we understand that one student can make a drastic difference when it comes down to 20, but we al and then we balance that with what is it saying for us. So, right, that's where we have that deeper dive into the conversation. >> Yeah, thank you. Okay. Um, Jenny, can I actually take you up on taking notes? Cuz part of why I'm there is because I'm >> taking pain meds, so I should not try to take notes and facilitate. Um, okay. Was there anything else, Dr. that you wanted to make sure to highlight from this state of the districts. >> No. >> Okay. Thank you. >> I think. >> Yeah. Mickey principal update is next. >> Yeah. So, I don't feel well, so I'm going to be quick.
I guess it was short from my side this uh this time you know but I'm I'm open for any questions from the board. >> Any questions from Raj from the board? >> Yeah Raj, could you say a little bit more about what the the tech kits are and what their function is? >> Sure. Uh so Mr. We got this uh last year actually uh but we we got it from our shared services you know this this year the the state didn't approve buying them through through our common funds so we have decided to buy it from from the department site so it's a it's a kit right uh that do have a TV right that you can if if you have a take you know on you that you can take it off you know then the magnifying glass you know that that help you to identify you know your look at the tick you know so and there is a pouch there there is a bag you know if you for any reason you need to save that take you know uh so a couple of things in in the kit you know so we have ordered 300 of them for the residents to be distributed um one thing you know there is a there's a this thing going on that happens uh from by the bite of the low on start you know it's called alpha gal syndrome right so what happens right uh and with the state of Massachusetts see already seeing a lot of cases uh for for the alpha gal where with the bite of this tick right uh people get allergy to red red meat and it's pretty severe you know and what the state have done uh this year that they have made it as a reportable disease you know though it it doesn't transfer from one individual to the other right but just to keep a count on it and how much of it is happening it is a reportable disease right now through Maven you know so though I have not seen any case in Ashland per se right but the case is coming up already in the state you know so that we are aware of >> do you know what kind of what what parts of the state >> uh Mr.
Some >> move second questions, >> comments. All in favor, please say I. >> I. >> Opposed or obstaining for Ben tonight and Dave especially are not sad about having us time and meetings tonight. >> Early night. >> We don't have another meeting, do we? meet you at the town hall. Take the rest of the day off. >> Yeah. >> I told the girls I might not see it before bedtime. So
>> Can you give us three minutes to read it in its entirety? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Thank you. Was this in the board packet? This was in board pack, right? >> Yes. Anybody need more time? Kim, are you okay? >> Yeah. >> Are you planning to sign it as chair or are we all going to sign it because I've seen both done at the state level. >> I'm probably not I'm not gonna sign it. I don't think I'm going to sign it at all. I'm going to submit it from the camp board of education. So, I have a first and second on on the on the floor on the uh on the resolution. Um any further discussion, questions, concerns? All those in favor? And Felicia is on and Amy's on. And Amy, are you able to vote? >> Amy votes yes. Thank you, Felicia. Were you able to >> Okay.
Roman is known for his tireless efforts, immediate responsiveness, and willingness to help with any need, never hesitating to step in wherever he is needed. So you all have different perspectives about how you perceive things and look at it. And I think it's our job to get you as prepared as possible. And if it it is for you to send in the email and those questions, that's great. And we'll continue to work on and and answer those questions. If it's to come in and have a one-on-one meeting with us. A lot of you guys do use Christine as an email to Christine, perfect. Then we can get that and we can work and we can respond. Sometimes it takes a while. Mhm. >> There's a lot of different things that happen in order for us to get there. But I I don't think and and and I I guess the the in the intent of the discussions that we're having in the one-on-one meetings, we're very very careful that it cannot be any kind of daisy chaining or I never ask you how you're going to vote.
Um I in looking at the agenda saw that there was the bullying and also um a a data chat. So, I thought I'd just like highlight all the events that we're doing. Um, and in talking with Dr. Z, that's what we decided. Um, so we're doing a lot of endofear events. We went to Grath Park last Friday. It was a lot of fun. Very successful. Um, we Sorry. Um, we also had a 4W week, we're we're still in the middle of it, um, pause challenge where kids are each week focusing on part of our pause, like practicing kindness, accepting responsibility, working together, and they're the individual classes are earning like extra recess time or things like that. no little chachkis. Um, we got rid of those. Um, just to help with behavior because as most people transition into summer, um, most kids feel um, you know, a little bit of anxiety and that can come out as behavior when they're, you know, not look like they don't know how to feel about moving on to the next grade and or leaving their friends for the summer or what their summer looks like.
