And again um those would be bond projects. Okay. And so our just to give you a cost analysis um all of our existing fizz spaces were um roughly half a million out of our bond program for each site. >> Right? >> So that's where that's where um all of the that's where the resources came to build that. So similarly whether we created it as a use it used the existing structure and then worked on the interior or >> yes >> knocked it down and created something new >> either one would be a bond a bond priority project. So question is uh we do have the $10 million um for that we didn't use for Petemont uh gym is that >> the 10 million is used >> expended. Okay. >> Yes. It was dedicated to two projects and it was the gym as well as all of their new windows.
>> Good evening everyone. Uh, well, I'm happy to report that there's nothing in the water in Clifton because I'm happy to report that girls wrestling team did excellent job this year. We celebrate an incredible season and honor our three senior wrestlers, Olivia Hanik, Rara, and Valeria. These young women were here at the very beginning when our program was just starting to take shape. They took a chance on something new and helped build the foundation of what uh girls wrestling in Clifton has become. Over the past few years, they have faced challenges, injuries, tough losses, and moments of disappointment. However, along the way, they also experienced unforgettable victories, personal growth, and remarkable accomplishments. This season, our team won 14 dual meet matches, captured our first ever tournament championships, qualified six wrestlers for regions, and sent three girls all the way to Atlantic City. We also we also crowned our first ever district champion, RUTH LARA.
Um so from a perspective of uh our team that's certainly something that I I value heavily. That doesn't mean it has to be that person. It just means I value that in terms of what I'm looking for to round out our team. Um so uh again trying to keep it uh narrow it down to six folks uh for the initial interviews. Um and then after that folks come forward to our admin team. We're going to have a t opportunity to meet the as an entire team with the candidates before they come before the board. >> Uh I think it's important because you know we had this conversation I think Mark you mentioned it and Paul in our last uh meeting through evaluation. I think one of my strengths has been building a good team >> and it has to be the right fit for our team.
Uh so we finally got a response. They had uh went and so so I had forwarded that to the board on April 9th. Um and that's the records request from executive office of housing and livable communities. >> Okay. Yep. And that was something that came about as a result of that that back and forth I think would be fair to say because um I think I don't know how I want to put this exactly but I think I had reached the limits of their their willingness to continue engaging with me on some of these topics. um again because they they they have certain limits to what they can disclose and so um thus the public records request to try to continue that. Um and so that's that's what these um notes are with respect to ELHLC. And so that brings us up to you know where we are today.
Um so from a perspective of uh our team that's certainly something that I I value heavily. That doesn't mean it has to be that person. It just means I value that in terms of what I'm looking for to round out our team. Um so uh again trying to keep it uh narrow it down to six folks uh for the initial interviews. Um, I mean, that's another question. >> I don't I mean, I've been fingerprinted, I mean, for a long time. I mean, I get it. If they don't show up, you spritz them with water. I always have to be spritzed. So, um, yeah, the woman at the police station, she's really good. I wonder did she have the ability to train other people? >> I don't know. >> I mean, she does the fingerprinting at the police station. >> I wonder if does she have the ability to train others would be my question. with the machine. It's pretty straightforward. >> It's like an overhead projector almost. >> Yeah. I I I I don't see how it should be too terribly difficult for somebody to do it with fairly minimal training. >> That's how you roll the finger. And >> Yeah. And if it's a good print or a bad print, that must come with time.
It was March 1st, you know, and um I called the state even like, "Hey, is there any way I could get an extension? I'm a new superintendent, you know, do me the favor." No favors. Uh but that's okay. That's okay because then all a sudden an email come came out on on April 10th and and I told DeFarious I'm like this email just came out I think I'm going to apply for it and and we applied for it and uh and we got it. So I'm so excited to share uh that we are the recipients of $97,500 >> for a preschool program uh that we already scheduled to go forward anyway. Um so this is just a great opportunity to use this money. You can for two things. One would be operational costs or um capital improvements if you needed to renovate a space. The majority of ours will go toward operational costs because we did have the space.
>> Got it. >> But it's been it's been exhausted. >> It's been exhausted already. So, so the only way to achieve that would be a targeted bond bond project just for this purpose >> or or another type of state facilities grant which is how we um funded the Pedmont gym. >> Oh, gotcha. >> That was not originally it was in our bond program as part of the the bond one of the bond priorities. >> Then we received the state facilities grant and so we were able to use that fund those funds instead. >> Got it. currently. >> Okay. So, we know who to reach out. >> Yes. >> All right. >> Okay. Yeah. I mean, that's Thank you for bringing that up. Uh, you know, Trish, it was it has been discussed in the past. I think it was vented to the back burner, but you know, having a performing arts kind of a thing similar to what Militus has built a beautiful one uh over there.
OLIVIA ROSE AND VAL, congratulations on your accomplishment, on your graduation and we wish you all the best. Our MVP is Ruth L. Next up is Coach Lito in girls basketball. Good like start off by thanking Dr. for putting everything together athletics here at Lon High School and most importantly all our senior athletes that are here tonight. We're here to talk about girls basketball and seven seniors that we have. I know both of them are here. They all stand up for a second. Congratulate them, please. That's true. All please say congratulations to Julio Stephanie and thank you this year we had a very big year and it's really about the seniors and our teachers here who made it. Um they put the time in they put the effort in during the summer during the fall. Um but it's not just them. It's the coaching staff that's here that also went into coach had a good season made playoffs the first time in about 10 years or so and we finished off I believe 1430.
Um, and that's what we're working towards. Uh, identifying that individual who can, um, you know, fit in well with us. >> So, >> I'm going to make an observation that I think the time frame of June 24th sounds optimistic. >> Oh, sure it is. >> I'm just saying. >> Right. Right. Yeah. Yeah. >> Just saying. >> Yeah. >> All right. >> It might be. And it might just be something again that we punt until a little further on in the summer. It's fine. It But I want to be cognizant. I'm the one who wrote a letter to Tom Scott 12 years ago, 10 >> and again two years ago. >> Yeah. That poaching folks in August is not appropriate. >> It's just not appropriate. And Tom uses my letter with the rest of the superintendents around the Commonwealth saying it's not appropriate. If you're going to pick up the phone and call >> and have a conversation with someone.
There's still you've got the public records request response. Is that right? Um and there are still some questions um surrounding a couple of those sort of related issues. Um uh the you know and again I don't necessarily want to get into the details of an active matter before the town but I will say that there's still a couple of loose ends um some title issues that's we're expecting that uh report within a week. Uh I checked in with my team today to find out if there was an update on that. the update is we expect it within a week. Um, and so there are a couple other things that we expect we're still going to report on. Um, and again, it's still an active matter before the town. So, these are still live questions. >> So, um, I know Joe, you have a question. We'll just open it up to the board first and then we'll >> open it up to the public.
Um, and that's what we're working towards. Uh, identifying that individual who can, um, you know, fit in well with us. >> So, >> I'm gonna make an observation that I think the time frame of June 24th sounds optimistic. >> Oh, sure it is. >> I'm just saying. >> Right. Right. Yeah. Yeah. >> Just saying. >> Yeah. >> All right. It might be. And it might just be something again that we punt until a little further on in the summer. It's fine. It But I want to be cognizant. I'm the one who wrote a letter to Tom Scott 12 years ago, 10 >> Well, and again two years ago. >> Yeah. That poaching folks in August is not appropriate. >> It's just not appropriate. And Tom uses my letter with the rest of the superintendents around the Commonwealth saying it's not appropriate. If you're going to pick up the phone and call >> and have a conversation with someone.
>> Mhm. >> Okay. So I mean it's a big deal. Um our teachers as well because we have to do it so many years. >> Oh you do. You have to repeat it. >> Do you have just the Corey? I don't know about fingerprinting. I thought they changed fingerprinting to every seven years. M >> I'm going to find out because it was we were only going to be that's what they told us but that you know we were also licensed for life in Massachusetts change is the real they told us when we all had to be get fingerprinted it was only once but then somebody said that changed and now it's every seven years so I don't and I think it was somebody who think it was a superintendent. So, I'm going to find out >> because we get cried every 3 years. >> H cuz you can commit a crime, but it's the same thing.
There may be some like material costs. You know, we use it for some resources that we had to purchase to make sure the prek preschool had everything that it needs. Um but our our full day prek is is going to be mostly funded uh at this point. So, we're really excited for that. Really, really great opportunity. And uh >> Yeah. And and again, I'll just close with um I I there's been so many celebrations this week and I think what it showcases is just the amazing and talented students and staff that we have here in Brookfield. And um I'm just honored honored to be a part of it. So, I just want to thank everyone for all they do to make Brookfield Public Schools a great place to work and learn. Um, and with that, I'll turn it back over to the board. Well, thank you very much.
So, >> yeah. And we've talked about it because our students are incredibly talented and uh when they have their showcases, everyone's crammed into the gyms or you know their multi-purpose room. So absolutely even just within our district, we've got the talent um to utilize a space like that. >> And just as a off note, please bear with me. The um I I went to the Pmon Middle musical. They had a pirate. >> Yes. On Friday. Yes, >> that was amazing. So something like that you having it for the larger community for everybody to enjoy >> uh would be would be great and you know yeah it's something to definitely think about uh as well but in the meantime uh let's continue this process of figuring out figuring what to do with the with the properties. >> Great. Well, that uh concludes kind of the overview and analysis uh portion of our uh of our report.
Okay. Their leadership hopefully sets the ground floor for us. But tonight we're here to honor girls basketball. She's going to be attending St. Law University athletic trainer and her name I mean I haven't said her name correctly in 4 years and I'm not going to start now because one time I did say she yelled at me so PLEASE All right, next up is Coach Cat, boys basketball. Thank you. I again want to support I just want to thank everybody here for their support student athletes who come to a lot of the basketball games right to administration who always make it a point to come out you know we really appreciate that support. Uh obviously this year was a very tough year, not the year that we wanted, but kind of a year we knew we kind of expected might not be the best because we were so young.
So, I'm I'm trying to do my due diligence on that end as well. Um I want to be respectful of my my colleagues. It's a very small organization. So, >> keep in mind Tom's not the ED anymore. >> Well, Mary would tell you the same thing. >> Um, so, so that's part of my update. That's the, um, the searches. Anything questions on the search stuff? >> No. Okay. Um, the summer retreat, I did send out an email uh, with regard to looking at um, dates. Uh, and it looked like we did settle on a date, uh, at least one, uh, and then we would balance whether or not we needed another, but I believe it was July 27th. Uh, worked for every one of us. Uh, the question I have to the board is would you want Gretchen to pursue um the Warren Conference Center like we have in the past um or use one of the schools?
But Joe, go ahead. >> Thank you, Madam Chair. Brian, I have a quick question. Um, the process as it stands right now new information has come since the ZBA's done their, you know, done their homework on on this project. And and I'm referring to, and you brought it up earlier in one of your one of your comments is the uh traffic study with the MBTA changing their traffic uh and stops. Uh there's the there'll be three new stops every half hour which isn't part of that traffic study and that's greatly going to change that traffic study. Can the town ask them to revise their traffic study as a result of this new information that was being provided and as a cause of the state's action? uh because this is definitely going to have an a huge impact in downtown when it comes to when it comes to you know the traffic aspect of it and the bearing of stopping the traffic with all these trains that come through additional three stops every half hour throughout the day which wasn't part of the original traffic study >> correct yeah and I remember and I we've discussed this before I think um on a couple of occasions maybe so what we did when when you raised this issue is we went to our traffic consultant and and asked that exact question, you know, why isn't this is in your report and what effect would it have if you considered it and so on and so forth.
So, I'm I'm trying to do my due diligence on that end as well. Um I want to be respectful of my my colleagues. It's a very small organization. So, >> well, keep in mind Tom's not the ED anymore.
I mean, in my head, it's every seven years for find out because that would be >> I was trying to remember what year we all got fingerprinted. >> Mhm. >> They actually sent somebody when all the teachers um that's something, excuse me, this department of edge should be paying for. Um, >> oh, I know. I was going to bring it up with our the next time that we have a meeting with our delegation. I was going to bring it up to them because >> um I think it's >> a safety issue >> outrageous as a county, you know, Franklin County that there is not one here for, you know, we're >> or within 30 minutes um county in Massachusetts. And I'm like, are you kidding me? We know the number of people >> don't have vehicles. >> I wonder what Turners is doing. >> They probably send it if if there was anybody that they had there.
