Your principal considers you a school leader. And I can tell you from years of experience as a principal in the district, it's not just a principal that makes the decision. We rely on a team of folks to nominate students who deserve this sort of recognition. CAB is pleased to present you together with other student leaders across Connecticut with our 30th annual CAB student leadership award. You should take pride in the recognition bestowed upon you and we encourage you to continue to use your leadership skills as you take on new challenges. Again, our congratulations and all the best to you in your future endeavors. Signed Meg Scotta, CAB president and Patrice McCarthy, CAB executive director and general counsel. So, please welcome to the podium from Dodd Middle School, Lily Kate Montgomery and Ethan Beachch. HEY, >> JEFF, can you repeat Ethan's name? I I couldn't hear.

I should know better than to follow Mariana. That was not wise of me. So, um, I'll do my best here. And I'll just note that there is a public hearing today and this this presentation could have easily gone in the middle of there, but we'll do this presentation now during the hearing. If you have any other questions or if I can uh interject a couple of things at that time for our required time, I'll do that then.

I no not in a negative way. I just have have a constant scheduled conflict making it to the CE a the conquer. I've had like such a hard time getting to the meetings at the time. Pursue what makes you feel alive and reconnect with your dreams when obligation and routine tell you to set them aside. True happiness is not found in checking boxes. It is found in growth, in relationships, in purpose, in adventure, and in becoming who you truly want to be. Now, with the assumption that you will complete this final assignment to write your life lists into your yearbooks, promise, I accept the class of 2026 and attest that you are prepared to aspire, to experience, and to thrive. Congratulations, seniors. Dream boldly, live fully, and do not let life pass you by. But I just wanted to remind you of just a few things and um where we are in that process as the as you saw the documents posted. It's huge. It kind of got longer even this year even though the actual you know the goals and actions have really not changed a lot as as they shouldn't change in this part of the cycle and so it still adheres to our mission and we are in this process of the LCAP all the time and that means we're either implementing or monitoring results or gathering input from the public and reddrafting and then you know bringing that back to you and then our county's involved the whole time and so we get input from the county, we submit to them. Ultimately, there our um oversight and approval process and then that can once that's approved then our budget can be approved and they go hand in hand.
So that data describes where, where were we, where are we, and where are we trying to get? So that data describes where, where were we, where are we, and where are we trying to get? Just just the time for me. >> The only other thing is the CMS building committee has two more meetings including one tomorrow. >> So, we can we can fill it. There's two people on it, but it's going away pretty soon. Are you suggesting just continue with the current members till it's done? >> I mean, we can talk about we're literally um approving a couple more change orders on sprinklers and then we're done. So, okay. >> We can remove it. >> Add an additional leazison to this list. Uh the Mazio Donald Diving Center leas I would like to continue with that. >> Okay. >> And that's an one. >> Yes, that's that's on the list. >> That's on the list.

Good evening everyone. Math League is a program that provides students with opportunities to engage in challenging math problem solving through contests designed for students in grades four through 12. The contests promote critical thinking, perseverance, and a love for mathematics. Each contest includes a range of problems across different topics and difficulty levels, helping students build confidence while enjoying the challenge. With over 1 million participants worldwide, Math League inspires students to deepen their understanding of math and develop strong problem solving skills. Norton offer offers this opportunity to students in grades five and six who those students who exhibit a strong interest in mathematics and a willing willingness to take on rigorous problem-solving tasks. All of our students should be commended for their hard work, active participation, and strong ability to work as a team throughout the math league experience. Our grade six team placed 10th in New England and second in Connecticut.
And so since we've talked kind of about this last in Janu or in February, lots of student advisory time. Our kids have a big role in the LCAP. It's important that they do. Um of course we've had our district advisory committees. We had more input this year than most because we had a requirement um personally and in the district to be out and getting more input because of our reductions. And so we had just a lot more public input this year. Um and of course our leadership, they're required to be part of this as well. And so principles had a chance to make sure and give their input too. And as as you know, the survey goes out and widely used this year. It was so great to have our family participation go up by over a thousand. You know, to have that almost 2500 families participate in the survey was just fantastic.

>> I'd like to continue with the DEI commission. Okay. And again, if you can also just I'm making notes of these, but yeah, if everyone just wants to send them through. >> Um, one other one, financial audit advisory committee. I've been on it for two years at this point. Um, and while I'm happy to do it, I'm very conscious as a Carile resident where we're talking about the regional school district, which I have a stake in, the town finances, which no offense, but I've got less of a stake in, and then municipal life, probably even less there. Um, I'm going to suggest that it is somebody in conquered who um takes that up going forward. >> And we have had one person from the conquered committee do both. I think actually. >> Okay. >> So maybe I do you want me to check with Wendy and see if that's >> I can check with her.

>> Wow. Math League RECOGNIZES So Math League does recognize the top 38 students in New England and the top four in Connecticut. And we are proud to share that Savin Tayaggera ranked 23rd in New England and third in Connecticut. and Maddie White ranked 32nd in New England and fourth in Connecticut. Although we do not have the fifth grade results yet. I'm in waiting. I actually checked right before I came. So, we don't have those yet. I know that our students are commended for their work, the collaboration, some of the problems we did together. and they asked me, you know, let how do we do this? And I tried my best to um figure it out with them. I think we did pretty well, too. Um but it was so it's always so fun to meet with these students and work together on these problems and and they find it fun, I think.
Um and then the local indicators feedback will come um to you for approval. It must come at the final meeting where with it is put up for adoption with the LCAP. But that process has to start months ago where we're evaluating our uh teaching staff and our implementation of the standards and whether or not we're properly engaging parents. So that's all coming. And of course all the school site councils, especially those school site councils that have equity multiplier funds because that's goal four and five. So our plan components in that big document, it kind of lines out. It's nice for parents that budget overview for parents. We call it the BOP. The BOP is the very first part. It's um charts and graphs. Uh Cindy Kungl helps put together and make sure that they reflect our best accurate uh or best um estimate of funding as of the day it's printed.

>> Want to check with her? >> Yeah. And what um what Tracy means is we have a representative from the conquered school committee and we have a representative from the conquered Carile school committee. So the question is does it have to be two distinct people just one person? >> Yes. Okay. >> So just I would just check with >> Yep. I'll check with her. >> All right. Any other questions on the assignments? All right. Uh, moving along then. The next thing we have is recognitions. I know the agenda says 6:30. Are we in a position to move forward? >> Are all the Sunrise kids here? Great. They're here. >> All right. Uh, would the Sunrise Club like to come forward up to the table? >> Yeah. Come on up. As they're coming up, I'll just um, you know, set the stage. So, the high school Sunrise Club, as some of you know, sponsored a Warren article among all the other things that they did this year um at Conquered Town meeting about composting.
And I would ask for Kate Dolly to please come forward to confer the graduates of the class of 2026. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the class of 2026. Come on.
