Go ahead. >> Okay. Call. >> This is yours, Cindy. >> The committee of the whole agenda setting meeting to order today, March 29th at 4:04 p.m. Mr. Secretary, would you please do a roll call? >> Mrs. Boyd, >> present. >> Mr. Brown >> here. >> Mr. Fishwell >> here. Mr. Fry >> here. >> Mrs. Hson >> here. >> Mr. N >> here. >> Mrs. Crawler >> here. >> Mrs. Ros >> here. >> Mr. Ste >> here. >> Nine present. Um, at this time I'd like to note that um, Solicitor Joe Defonso is on the phone, Superintendent Moles, Director of Education Zore, Director of Special Education Dr. Kapista, Director of Technology and Data Valino and Don Kistle and Ed Sutter are also in the room. There's no public comments. Um I would like to make sure
that um when we as a board are speaking that we all speak up and speak clearly because we some of us our voices are not heard on the recording. So if you don't think your voice is going to be heard then maybe we should move the microphone close to you. Um also a reminder to everyone this is our agenda setting meeting. I had someone make a comment to me that um Director Nup and I need to meet with Mr. moles to set the agenda. This is all nine of us meeting with our superintendent and our other people to set the agenda to have discussion about the items that are going on the agenda so that we are all informed. Does everybody completely understand that? Now there is no administration is just setting the agenda. Everyone
understand? Okay, with that um we can go to the governance committee. Okay, I can kick off. All right, so we have some data that's usually presented this week. Uh so uh so in anti in anticipation of it, I would say we are ready for action for the treasures report, uh the general funds bills, the cafeteria bills, the capital projects, and the budgetary transfers. Any questions? Eric, could you just give us the overhead of the budgetary transfers so everybody knows what they are? >> There is one transfer and the majority of it came out of the reserve the contingency for the supplies to one building. We budget some supplies and contingency. It helps it helps rate some other things that we calculate. So they tie when they need it and they write to that contingency, they'll
draw on that and it'll go back to the building budget. There's a couple other small ones within that building. They switch within objects of it. You'll see that as well too. Thank you. Okay. Okay. Keystone. The next one is the Keystone Collections Group proposal for collecting the taxes for Laurel Mountain Burrow. We learned that Laurel Mountain Burough does not have a tax collector. That's why we are uh going to be um contracting with Keystone. That is ready for action. Any questions? >> What is the cost of that? >> Very very cheap. >> Very much we pay our turn. >> Yeah, it's very very cheap. It was like a$1.7 something. Is that what it was? >> Dollar60, I think, compared to or$150 compared to 760. >> Yeah. >> They're doing the township and they're doing the
burrow in the county right now. That's like they approved them there. That's why they reached out to me and I submitted it to the >> Sarah. Can we get a list of all the delinquent taxes that are in the rears? I did that every year. I have the I do it for the audit. I got it for the June 30th 25 year. >> I do have that as a board >> because it's our it's our job to move around. >> I had um asked Mr. Kosis, this was going to be my um committee meeting, but with the one significant delinquent tax that we have, um Mr. Kosis is looking into collecting it. What what did we say to go to council to go? should go to the board if we want the solicitor to move
forward onto that to see about the condition of the building and get them to fix it up and then also >> go into a delinquency in the department to see if they can collect it as well. >> Okay. Well, that sounds interesting. Can we add that to the agenda for the next meeting? What you just said? >> Yeah. Joe, are you okay? Is that okay to add, Joe? >> Yeah, this is the uh agenda meeting. That's the purpose of today. So, we'll have we'll make an action to move on getting the solicitor to contact the current property property owner to make sure they make the um property more safe and look at getting a third party company on that. >> I talked to the township where the Laurel High School is and they said that
that owner has employed people to cut the grass then he stiffs them and he doesn't pay them. That's why he can't get people to cut the grass and he hasn't paid taxes in at least 15 years. I think we ought to be moving. >> I agree. >> Um Joe, do we want to put that in there as well too work with the township and the county on that too? >> I'm sorry. Could you repeat that? >> Should we put anything in that motion about working with the township and the county too? Is there their taxes are >> Not being paid as well either. I yeah I I think as a practice when we go about these we do work with the >> so don't have to put that motion okay >> no >> okay >>
we'll draft something up on you to look at okay >> and then Eric what is this um United Way transition plan grant >> we get this every year the United Way donates uh $2,000 to the school for transition for for kindergarten. So, it's really nice. >> Yeah. Thank you. >> Moving that one out. Ready for action. >> Okay. Under policy legal, we have three policies that we are moving out of committee and onto the agenda. uh 218.1 which is the weapons policy, 222 which is tobacco nicotine for students policy and 323 which is the tobacco nicotine for um administration, professionals, um staff, that kind of thing. Um the only change and they are in your packets um in your docs folder. The only change that you will see between now and whenever this posts is
I did not I still have to put the link on for the new law for the weapons policy. But that's just a little fix. I will put that on. >> Okay. Hold on. Which you said three are going. >> Yeah. 218.1. >> Okay. >> Weapons is ready. It moved out of committee. 222 tobacco nicotine. That is a student policy. >> Okay. >> And 323 tobacco nicotine which is the professional policy. So on 323 um under contracted personnel and authority section paragraphs one and two don't say anything about contracted personnel but the third paragraph does it just they just say administration. >> Wait you under authority. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So you say >> the term contracted personnel isn't included in the first two paragraphs, but they are in the third. >> So yeah, I do.
I think I know. >> Oh, no, that's not what I was going to say. I think I know why that is. But hey, let me look at this real close. Yeah, I I'll have to ask Gary. >> Okay. And then also for two I think it's for all three of these. Okay. No, for 2181. You said that one, correct? >> Okay. Um it says that we will notify within 24 hours if possible. The law is 24 hours. >> Yeah. Well, we put unless unique circum circumstances prevent it um from happening. That was that came from the administration. You said that. >> Yep. How do we do that? because the law >> Well, I know it says within 24 hours and then you said unless you need or maybe that was you Justin we were talking
about unless it is a um security remember we were talking about a security issue if there is a security issue that would prevent >> yeah I don't think it has to if possible I think that probably >> I'm I'm just concerned because the law says we must notify in 24 hours >> that's what we'll do >> yeah it's what we're going to do either way so even if that impulsing if we could take taking that out. >> So, the the phrase that says unless unique circumstances prevent it, take that out. >> Yeah, I think I think we should. >> All right. >> Because we're going to do it either way, even if it's if it's questionable. >> Okay. Then, >> sorry. Um, so there was uh safe schools. They changed the name to the office
for school climate and well-being, but we say department of education. That's because all reporting now goes to the department of education. It doesn't go to the individual >> and the office of safe schools falls under >> Yeah. It's Yeah. So all reporting kind of goes to the department of education now where there so the other two committees are underneath that but it it's all now you report it to the department of education. >> Make sure we're using the 12 terms that's all. Okay. >> We're not doing 707 so never mind. >> Um the only So this brings up a good comment that Cindy is like we didn't bring this up to Mr. Mada or his team head of the first read. You know, I think it really will serve us well if we work on
a proposed polic procedure on how we do these policy updates. Yeah. And I don't know what you mean about like first read. Um, I did want to mention that the way that we go about doing first, second reads, um, is a little bit confusing. Um, a read is not something you vote on. A read is just what it is. So my suggestion and we have ch Derry has changed well Derry did this first and then we changed JC to this and then uh, Lake Trobe changed the same way. So these would actually instead of being motions would be listed because they are first read just be listed asformational under policy legal and then at so then you know everybody has a month to look at it and then next month it would go as um
underformational for second read and motion then for the night then they would move on for motion >> because I got confused trying to get that so there would be information. Yes. So this Yeah. So it would be anformational all first reads would be anformational item and then the month after that they would go second read and then up for vote >> or we do in x amount of time though to Okay. So when they're on there we have x amount of time to notify you guys. What's your time? That's what you guys have to decide. Like we can't go the Friday before the meeting and say, "Oh, by the way, I have a problem with this." We as a board need to notify you guys of things that we want changed on a first read
by X amount of time. >> And we need when I guess this would be a question for Joe. Joe, when would you want to be notified of policy updates? when it comes out of committee. My initial thinking would be after it comes out of committee then it would go to you for your first read before we you know introduce it because you know there's questions you know it can pingpong uh you know across different people what um is your best practice >> yeah I I think getting it to us early after it comes out of the committee would be best because we can one we'll see the policy so when we're at these meetings somebody has a question We've looked at them and we've earmarked any issue potential issues that we see. >> Okay. So,
I don't know if you got these or not, but I did when we moved these out, when was our committee meeting? Last Thursday. >> Thursday. Um, when we moved out these out of committee last Thursday and then I tweaked what we had to tweak and then Friday morning, th I think it's late Thursday night, I sent them on to Gary when I sent them out to the rest of the policy legal committee. >> So, that didn't give him enough time. And that was 24 business hours. >> Yeah, I certainly did not see the policies before this meeting. Uh Mr. Madam may have. Do you typically have your policy meetings the Thursday before your Monday agenda setting meetings? >> We can change it. I This is just what was proposed. >> Right now, we have them
the first Thursday of the month, right? Yeah. >> Okay. >> It's a little awkward. Yeah. Should the language in the motion to the board? I mean, we could make arrangements to make sure that we review any policies coming in. >> So, basically, Joe, what you're saying is we we need a monthly time with you or almost, you know, like So, so like these ones that we moved out of committee on last Thursday shouldn't even be going out for first read yet. We need to get them and give you um like a month to go over them before we then put them out for first read. >> Yeah. I honestly it probably depends on the policy, right? >> Yeah. >> Um some of them are standard operating procedures that need updated. Others may have some uh
legal questions involved in them, right? >> Yes. >> Some additional time would be nice. Um sometimes we, you know, need a smack in the head to review the policy in enough time. Um with the short notice, that's all. >> Yeah. >> Okay. And then I have one other question. >> Okay. >> What happened to 006? >> It didn't move out of committee. We've got >> So I had shared it with Mr. Ma. It went out of committee. >> Okay. >> And um I think he had a few comments. He's the one that had the reservations about the superintendent making the agenda >> uh document that we're looking at now >> um exclusively um and I shared that in our policy uh committee. >> Yeah. And I think there were a couple other little tweaky things.
So >> yeah. Yeah. That wasn't the only thing. >> Yeah, that wasn't the only thing. So it it still didn't move out of committee. >> So I think that you know one thing we need to align on is our process for reviewing. I had proposed a policy for us four and um you know we kind of got to get that together so we're all aligned. We can hold each other accountable, know what the expectations are. Um so that's my suggestion there. >> So those are all going to just be on the agenda as >> informationational. Yeah. First read it'll just be policyformational note motion, >> right? >> Why would you don't vote on the first first week? This still needs to go to mata before first. It still needs to go to >> Well, that's
that's a thing. But he's had it and I I didn't hear anything back from information. >> Maybe we ought to wait a month a month. >> Okay. So, requires further review. >> Yes. >> All righty. >> No action. So, there'll be zero under policy. >> Appears that way. Okay. Student success and facilities committee. >> All right. uh buildings and ground. Uh we have one item here which is the approval to use our district facilities requested by the America 250th PA committee. Uh they want to use the Ligonier Valley uh high school as a launch site uh for fireworks display on the 18th of July 2026 provided pending approved by the solicitor and I don't believe the solicitors provide us with any >> Yeah. Did we ever get that contract? >> So so that that's the
reason I have that language in there. There are some there are some um um items that the the board wanted me to make sure were in place uh from this organization. Um they they contacted me and wanted to do a dry test run. I asked them to contact Mr. Sutter. They've yet to do that as as of this point. So um I want to make sure um at the solicitor's recommendation these things are in place. So, this is kind of a uh a catchall here so that uh we don't blindly uh give them the permission to use uh Director Hutchinson wanted to make sure it said practice soccer field. So, we had that added uh in there as well. Um so, no, they have not gotten me their insurance policy. Um they have not uh
shared with me, you know, where the fire trucks will be, any of that sort of stuff. So, we want to have all that stuff uh in place before we approve, but also we want to make sure that the board has taken action to let them know they can use it with those items uh in place. So, that's why the solicitor reviews on. >> So, is there do we need any further discussion on this pending the solicitor? >> I don't think so. I think all we're doing is formally saying they can use that as long as they meet the requirements we have in place >> and the solicitors aware of what those requirements are. Kind of like when we approve a coach once they get all their papers. >> Right. Similar. >> Yeah. All >> right.
So, in essence, then this one would be ready for action and then our our board. >> You okay with that? >> I'm just concerned. I I would think that that language is in there pending approve approval by solicitor, but I would like to see >> that's that's exactly what I said in the policy legal meeting. So, I think it's important to them. They should have gotten us that information quickly. >> Yep. So I think that right now we just need to wait for them and that's just my opinion. >> No, I agree. That was my exact thought and I want I mean I trust scary but I want to see it. >> Yeah, >> I want to see it before I >> attended burnt before waiting on stuff. >> Yes. >> Now there is one
non uh issue item for discussion and that is Mr. Mr. Eric. We uh had the uh bid opening meeting on March 5th, 2026 at 12:00 here for the baby project. I'm going to hand everybody out the we had nine people been on the job and the top they're all here. The top four are specifically for the bid requirements. It shows you each detail of the pricing and then the bottom five are listed at the bottom of the page. Oh, you go. I got one. I >> didn't change. >> Thank you. >> Excuse me. >> There you go. >> And uh like I said, very good to get nine bids. The Trust Payton Corporation was the lowest bid, $341,855 for the for the project. And you can see it ranged up to number nine. There was
a contractor was $675,000. So different different looks at it, different different prices. So um I know that was in attendance. Uh the engineer was really confident in the loyal spinner. I've done a lot of work with them before in the past. Really good company. Um so we need a if you want to put a motion to move forward on the 16th to vote on that would be the next thing. >> I have one question on this. Is the um is the uh the cost for the uh square footage there is that based is that a fixed cost or or I'm looking at with the conflict over in the Middle East are we going to see some fluctuations >> in the in the >> he said they they have a right to ask for a in
inclusion increased cause but we don't have to do it. Okay. We don't have to do it >> sometimes. So like let's say they're going down there and they can't maybe get the pavement in right because they need to pour concrete piece of curving or something. I think the unit cost that bid and if they have to do it pay for but you asked escalation fuel fuel. >> Yeah. Because that that's that's the only thing there that I was wondering how much that might cause this to fluctuate. >> But there there was no concerns when the bids were open. I think all nine companies were here and uh nothing was mentioned at that time either. >> Okay. >> All right. >> I like this. They break it down in unit cost. So if there is a
change order like Ed said if they need to do this, this or this, this is what the unit cost is in the contract. We could tie it back to that. Anything additional is needed. >> What was the engineering cost on this? >> Was that engineer was $40,000. >> Now I had a wide range in here for the budget. Like I didn't know. You can see the 675 plus the 40 it could have been 715. Um it it it's really a low number like $341,000 is >> what did you budget? budget. I didn't budget anything because it's in the capital, but I had it mounted set aside, but I adjusted the spreadsheet. Yeah. >> With MJ, Dr. >> Originally 800,000 double that. >> But if you look at the 675, >> that's why I'm not like
about you. You look at the 675 plus the 40 plus any contingency 800,000 wasn't too far over. >> But now you got 34140 and you got contingency. You're probably looking over at $400,000. >> Does that does that Oh, sorry. I'm sorry. That's okay. Is it also include that emergency? >> Yes. >> Really? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Oh, I see it. I'm sorry. >> Now, we pay the gate. Remember, we that was not part of the script. We pay the gate because it's going to be cheaper for us to get the gate. >> Do we have a cost on what the gate? >> I have no cost. We can get one ourselves. Yeah. >> All right. So, do we want to move this for what's a motion to >> motion to approve that? >> Approve. >>
It's ready for action to go. Yeah. Mhm. >> So that would be item VO. >> Yeah, we'll make we'll change that to VO426. >> Thank you. >> Okay. Um for educational programs, we have a lot of field trips. Um FBLA will be attending their annual state conference in Hershey on April 12th through the 15th and that will be funded through the organization. Um the marching band will be experiencing a field trip to Hershey and Lancaster on May 1st, also being funded through the program. And then um ROC will be experiencing three field trips. One to Mid Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio on July 31st through August 2nd. Another to Outdoor Odyssey in Boswell, PA on July 5th through the 10th. and then one to Poconos's Raceway in Long Pond, PA on June 12th
through the 14th. All of those will be funded through the organization. All of those ready for action. >> I I just have one question for the ROC. Are that is that the whole ROC going or just a a color guard? >> I think it's just color guard, I believe. >> Okay. >> For all of them? >> No, not the Odyssey. The Odyssey is a >> Odyssey should be >> Odyssey will be everybody. Yeah. >> Yeah. Anybody that Yeah. >> that can go and qualify. Yeah. >> But you asked about that. >> I was just asking in general, were they color guards or was it all of them? >> I I think it's different amounts each one or different parts of art because they're all different types of functions. >> They were going to open it
up. clubs just sorry I forgot about that you did contact me about that >> significant cost to the student so we're trying to spread it out to more music department >> so the second one we're going to say uh further review >> yes that's for the >> but all the other ones are ready for action correct >> everyone okay with that >> okay next we have a 5-year agreement with Walden University to receive undergraduate students for um observation student teaching and internships no cost to the district and that um agreement is in everyone's board folders. >> Can someone explain this to me? Sorry. >> Sure. >> What? Walden. >> Oh, wait. No, sorry. I'm looking at the wrong thing. >> The fourth one. >> He's come back to Justin's. Yeah, Justin will explain that. Is
everyone ready for action for the Walden? Um, then Kelly Beas, Alyssa Davis. Oh, wait. Are we allowed to read those? >> Yes, >> those names. Okay. >> And Kayla Doerty will be attending the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses Conference in the Penn State Hotel at State College on March 20th through the 22nd. And the cost of the district will be $2,12. >> I do have a question on this one. >> Sure. >> Is this related to school nurses or >> Okay. So, it's a school nursing. >> It is. The background on this one is uh it's actually really great news. Kelly is being nominated for Penn. >> Whoa. >> And the reason why the cost is so high on that. Typically, we would only send uh one of the nurses to that. But since she's
being nominated for PA nurse of the year, the others asked me and I said, "Well, I'll put it up for approval." Uh that you know that's up to the board to approve it or not approve it. But um you know my my opinion is we have you know that's that's a once in a lifetime. >> Absolutely. >> And she certainly deserves an excellent nurse. >> I was just curious if it was a school nurse because it doesn't great uh award. That's >> okay. That's ready for action. >> Okay. And then Evan Rea be accepted as St. Stevenson College student teacher and um they would be placed with Ryan Potlucky for the 2026 fall semester ready for action. Okay. And then going back up to the Ford internship program. I think Justin's going to explain that
a little bit. >> Yeah. So this um and the the packets are in your folder. There's a couple different packets that are in there. Um the teacher that's proposing this, his name is Ryan Stefen. And Ryan is a really phenomenal teacher that we have at the high school as a special education learning support teacher. And I know that there were some conversations that started probably towards the the end of last school year. And uh one of the conversations that him and I had always had at least from the time I've started here is the opportunities for kids with disabilities to work beyond high school. And um we worked with between Laura uh Brooke Sier Ryan and myself. We worked to develop a partnership with Giant Eagle uh this past spring uh where we have a
few students that are going over there from the life skills program and I I couldn't say enough positive things about the folks over here at Giant Eagle too. They they really are so accommodating of of our kids and kids with disabilities that you know they really should be commended. when you have an opportunity to thank them for what they do for us, uh, please please do that. So, you know, in talking with Ryan, a lot of the programs for kids with disabilities once they graduate high school, um, there aren't many. Um, a lot of the opportunities that are available, um, for kids with disabilities are either in Johntown or in Greensburg. There's not much in between. And for our kids, even when they graduate, for them to trans, you know, transportation to work on a
daily basis from here from here to Johntown or Greensboro you're talking 40 40 minutes. Um so we've been you know we've been looking at the idea of how can we build partnerships with um businesses that are in the local Ligonier community. How can we make opportunities available for our kids here locally? And um Ryan has put some things together. already started conversation with some of the local businesses. Um his proposal is to put together some coursework and internship opportunities and I think he's got some some business that are that are willing to do this um to provide job experiences for our kids inhouse. This would be no additional cost to the district. It would really just be Ryan doing it u and helping to develop those partnerships in the community for our kids. I think
it's a great opportunity and I think you got grant money and that's why we want to set it up account. >> That's where it should be over here. It should be in the ACA account. That's why we talked to Ste for about a month and a half now. We thought it was that's where it should be because he can draw that with the club advisor out there take it for what he needs. So if you will add another line on the ECA at the high school. >> Awesome. >> Why is that on theirs and not ours like the finance? >> Educational. >> Okay. That's under education. >> Did you say there was a packet in our >> Yeah, there's a couple >> one starts with a letter and then there's a there's one behind it
that looks like this. >> Okay, >> we got to create the accounts when he gets the donation. We can accept the donation and put it into that account. >> Well, that is great. >> Any other questions? And is it ready for action? >> Ready for action. Okay. So, we are looking at a couple of FMLA items that we have to approve. Um, we have a custodian that is resigning. We have approvement for anou between school district and Mr. Moles regarding healthare um and anotherou between Lincoln Valley School District and Lincoln Valley Education Support Professionals regarding the transfer of employment of contract third party agencies. >> Yes, that's the one I want to talk about. >> Okay. So, um first off, Eric, can you please let us know what will theou between the school district and
Matt Moles cost or save the district? >> Um MO current right now the proposal is an $8,000 buyout and his part of the insurance this year well if you look at the next year where it's going to be it's probably going to be about a 23 to $24,000 savings to the district >> he wasn't here a full year but that's >> sorry that's just my question thank you okay >> so that will be paid evenly out over the months that take control >> so my question about the memor understanding for the pair professionals. Is this a response to this data that you gave us last month? >> All right. So, what does this mean? Does this mean that we want to move all >> this one? One. >> Okay. because that is ve that is
very misleading >> for that one employee cuz that sounds like you are moving all third contracted third party staffing agent professionals to district employees. I'm sorry. I mean am I wrong? >> No, it's for if the way I took it was moving forward if it's one of those that are now becoming a staff professional they would fall under this. >> Can we add a clause in there stating that? I know Justin. >> So, yeah. So, so the the the reason it was written like this was um if we w if this would ever happen again in the future. I spoke with um the uh pair pair professionals union and um got them to give us an agreement to this. And I what my point with them was was if this would happen again, what we
would ask because there is that $5,000 fee that we would have to pay back to the agency that we would, you know, cuz >> if that person leaves the next day, you know, then we're on the hook for the $5,000. So the whole purpose of that was in if now and in the future what we would ask that like this employee who's coming on um with us we would ask them to follow thisou that would be for anyone that would come from any other outside agency where there is a buyout clause they would follow this where they pay back it's I think it's 100% within the first year it's 50% 25 and then then nothing after three years >> okay I get that but I I'm I'm sorry I mean it just if I were
a contracted third party staffing agency professional and I saw this motion, I would read it as either I don't have a choice or they are moving me over to or I have the right for them to go this is the part that I really concerned about that they're going to come to us and say I am going to leave my third party. I want to be employed by the school district and because of this motion we have to do it. So I mean I'm I just want some clarification there as to are is this going to be retroactive? Is this an offer that we are going to make to all of our third-party pair professionals if they >> as positions? >> Yeah. As positions. So if a position like let's say for example we had
a position that was open here. We posted the position and one of the third parties applied for that position. We would let that >> we need to change it to say as post. >> Yeah. or in the future as positions come up because I'm sorry just the way that reads to me it just reads to me like we are moving everybody third party over to district employees. >> Got it. >> Do you want to just omit the word transfer of and have it read regarding the employment of >> Well, no, because it's still it's still contracted third party staffing. It still moves it still says we're moving them to district employees. I think we need some kind of specification. Why doesn't it Why don't we list the employee identification number? >> The one the one
above it, you list the employees name that it refers to. Why don't we just list the employee? Well, >> we're trying to use this for moving forward. >> So, as positions are posted and available, >> we just need a catchphrase in there that says >> for future hirings. >> Yeah. Positions are available. >> Yeah. Or something like that. >> Okay. So, As long as that wording is in there. >> So the motion's good. We just have to worry about what the wording of the says. >> Okay. >> Right. >> No. No. It's the wording in the motion that needs changed. >> Yeah. >> We're saying to change the wording so that it looks so we're clearly stating. >> We're not talking about any wording in the >> No, no. I'm just talking about I'm just
talking about an emotion to make sure that this is this is a moving forward for future pair professional hires. >> Did you say regarding the employee number as well as >> No, because then that as well. So then you're covering the basis of the present >> and the future. Yes. >> But we can stop it right after between the Lion Valley School District and the L and the support stou that's attached. >> Right. >> Are you okay with that? >> Y >> I mean yeah >> I thought it was the public. >> What's that? >> Well the the thing will be the >> Yeah. So the is Yeah. No, it doesn't matter. >> No, just between. >> Yeah. >> Hey, Junior. >> What do you want me to do? >> Hold on. Do you want
to do you want to talk about the two positions we want to add from the executive session about the two job descriptions we're going to add onto the agenda? >> The MTSS >> and the Oh. Oh. Oh, yes. Yes. Yes. Okay. Sorry, >> I'll if you want to give me the changes, but we'll add two we'll have two more motions on there for MTS job description and grounds and maintenance >> um job description as well. >> And can we do an exit interview with the fellow that you're losing that's going to roll? >> Uh historically we have not but I have done We're gonna fight that mostly. >> Yeah, we're gonna do it. >> We can set that up. But I also have two gentlemen who have like interviewed that. >> Let me know when
you want to. >> Uh my schedule is if we can get one able with both of you then I'll just call this >> can you guys talk about that amongst you >> okay thank you >> okay so for the supplemental contracts we are looking at a retroactive approval for the softball assistant coach um and we have a resation for the head soccer coach at the high school and all of those running Okay. >> Student experience committee. Okay. Under athletics, the following of retroactive approval for the following program volunteers as listed. And we would like to add one more. Um, where did it go? Oh, I know where it went. Over here. and and it it'll be the same uh same process. Amanda Penrose, she said her letter of interest. It just came in and it's
for the girls track and field and they're ready. They're already going. So, it's tough to get volunteers here. So, we would like to add her name as well, Amanda Penrose. So, we're ready for action. >> So, I just have one question. These do all come from the head coaches of those, >> right? They've already been vetted through the principal figural and the respective coach. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Yes. >> And then the uh next one is ready for action for a ninth grade home home education student to participate in the varsity track and field program at the regular participate participation rate of $75. Sorry about that. And it's ready for action. Okay. Gary, do you want to take transportation and attendance? >> Go ahead. I'm good. >> Okay. Ready for action is the 2526
revised instructional calendar. You all had that. Any further questions on that? Okay, we're ready. Ben, um, we want to have approval for the 2627 instructional calendar as you had in your packet as well, unless there's any change on that. >> I do have a comment on that. Um with with the board's approval on that calendar, um the director of the CTC uh vetted the three calendars from the sending schools and um pretty happy to report that there are only three days um that don't work for the other other three schools and the CTC will be open all three of those days. So what Todd said was there'll be no babysitting days. I guess in the past when they weren't open and we were >> we had to house the kids for the day, that sort
of thing. So, and that's a credit to the board. I appreciate you guys encouraging uh the networking of the uh superintendent um and the director to make that work and um we have a couple extra snow days uh built into that calendar next year and it worked out for as far as sending schools to the CTE. So, um I just got that information from Todd late last week and I wanted to share that. So I appreciate their efforts there >> and kudos too to the three districts for participating in that action because for many years we attempted to do something like that. It never worked out. So kudos to all of you for putting your effort into that. >> Thank you. >> And then finally um a driver uh mechanic for uh loadar in the
name of Joshua Gross and it's ready for action. Awesome. Uh, do we have um any additional comments from Superintendent? >> No, ma'am. >> Don, Ed. Um, okay. Before we adjourn, when we were all students in school, what was one thing that we hated to hear from a teacher? >> Pop quiz. Guess what? I have a board pop quiz. And the reason I have this is because when you see these questions, you will understand. >> Don't use your phones. Don't cheat. >> Can we start now? >> Start. Go ahead. Start now. >> Like a true teacher. I need something from the extended time. >> I know you guys are all thinking I'm crazy, right? The reason I came up with this is because I'm trying to prove number one how important communication is, how important it
is for us to use resources and to truly work together. And then when I read these questions, I know everybody's like, what questions do they have? Wow, a silent meeting. I don't think this has ever happened with us. >> I don't even have to say eyes on your own paper. Everybody's head straight down. Are you laughing at me? There's no names on them for a reason. Am I done? >> Yes. But I don't know one answer. >> Huh? >> I don't know one. >> Hand it in. No names on it for a reason. What are we doing here? >> Just pass them on. >> How many members are on the school board? >> 9 plus one. Did everybody know that? Ah, not everybody knew that voting members are on a board. >> Nine. Everybody knew
that. What is required of a newly or reelected board member? >> Is that you? >> Yeah. Uh it is training five hours of training for a new member and I was wrong Cindy. It's only three four. >> I thought it was three. >> Okay. What are the responsibilities of a school board? >> Developies and what's your finances? >> Hire the superintendent or hire the superintendent. >> Okay. So you're on the clock. >> It is. you are reviewing policies. We are ensuring that the district is operating correctly. We are not to run the district. We are to govern the district. So with that being said, what's the definition of governance? And anybody want to say it out loud? Come on. No. Okay. >> I can give you a comment that was given to me the other
day. The way we govern in our country is to make laws for people to follow. So the school board governing is making laws in order to set you know things to be followed. So as a school board we create policies. >> We lead we yes we create the policies. We set the goals. We don't do the work. >> That's why we hired these awesome professionals. We yell at um >> we're all sick. I don't know why. >> I keep looking at Jen. I was like, "Oh my god." >> I already answered the first question or the next question about how many hours of training it is five hours of training for a newly elected member and it is three hours for a um >> renewed. Okay. And then what law requires schoolboard members to complete
ethics training and outlines rules for conflict of interest? Come on. >> I haven't I haven't taken my training yet. >> Pennsylvania Public Official and Employee Ethics Act. >> Can you expect any of us to know that? >> Well, there's there's a method to this. Okay. And the next one is, what is the name of the Pennsylvania law that guarantees the public access to school district records unless specifically exempt? >> Right to know. >> Right. >> Yes. >> I was going to put that. I thought >> right to know. Well, because we had so many of those back in the early >> 2000 or 2010. >> What act governs public meetings, executive sessions, and when a school board can meet privately? >> School code 1949. >> Sunshine Act. >> Oh, did I get that? Did I
hear that wrong? >> What act governs public meetings? Exactly. I'm sorry. Then um the next one is when legislation impacting public schools is being considered in Harrisburg, what organization represents the collective voice of local school boards? I found this one to be >> Department of Education. >> The SBA. I did not know that until this past week when I was reviewing something. I had no idea and I was like, "Okay, >> you knew that was mine, didn't you?" >> Sure. I just wanted to do that because there's a lot of things I know. So, I've already done both my trainings and you got access. >> Did you get access? >> Yes. Did you Did >> you you didn't get access yet, Sydney. Did you get access yet? >> I'm not trying. Get away till I'm
done working. >> I'm just saying there's things that are in here and there's things that w with training that like help us to understand a lot of things a lot better. And I just think it's very imperative that we all completely understand exactly what a school board's supposed to do, how we're supposed to do it, and the teamwork that it takes. I've seen a great deal of communication since January that I didn't see prior to January, and it makes me very happy. With that being said, motion to adjurnn. So move >> second. >> 455.
