Okay. >> Yeah, they would just be approved subject to the revisions. >> So, at this time, do we have a motion to approve the board minutes subject to the revisions as stated by Mrs. Ghetto? And that's your motion, Mr. Motion. >> Do we have a second? >> I'll second. >> And a second by Mr. >> Mr. Aiano. >> Hi, >> Mrs. Ghetto. >> Hi, >> Mr. Po. >> Hi, >> Mr. Reeds. >> Hi, >> myself. You can um come up to the podium and we invite you to uh engage in the public comment and I will start the timer for five minutes. And would you like for me to give you a warning, a 30 second warning or a one minute warning? >> It won't take that long. >> Okay, perfect. Well, let me just in case >> I don't have a comment. I have a question and the protocol what you read doesn't say address the any questions. My question to the board members I came up through the Alice High School uh school system. I'm a class of 73. >> Okay. >> And I'm very proud of the Alice Coyotes,
007especially the colors. The only one that I know personally is Herman. I coached him as little league. Hey, look, he was a great ball player. I thought he would be playing in the National League, but he chose another uh my I'm concerned about our colors that already been painted and paid for on the football field. Are the colors changing? That's a question I got to ask why. Through my whole career, I came through 1960 and graduated in 73. Then I went off to the Marine Corps. It's always been burnt orange and white. Are the And I see the chair out there. It has red, but I was I was told that's not the color. That's chair. So, are the colors changing? Well, Mr. Sullies, I can't answer a question for you, but I appreciate the
008comment that you're giving us this evening, and that will be addressed when we have the update on the stadium. >> I wasted my time. >> No, you did not waste >> I wasted your time, too. >> I'm not going to hear an answer, right? I I'm just asking why. Was there a mistake made? can answer. >> Mr. S, I don't have the answer to your question, but if you continue to stay and sit through the duration of the meeting, when we have the stadium update, we will ask the questions of at that time. And that is going to be item number 6D, right? Six uh >> 61. >> Would it be addressed then? >> Yes. >> What was that? >> Yes, sir. It's on the agenda. >> It's on the agenda. >> Are the colors
009be addressed? >> That's what I just want to know because a lot of folks ask me, I say, "Yeah, go ask the school board. I don't represent nobody but me. And besides, I'll pass paying school taxes. >> Okay. >> This gray hair finally paying dividends for me. I guess >> Mr. Solis, u if one of the board members may inquire or the presenter who presents that information this evening after hearing your question, they should address that this evening. >> It will be addressed. >> There's no guarantees at all. Okay. Other than >> look, if I wasted your time because I just wanted to know >> if it's not addressable, you could take his information and get back to him >> with some answer once we know an answer. >> Okay. another uh Miss Hall, she
010is our legal counsel and she has advised us that if it's not part of tonight's presentation for the stadium update, we can get your information and let you know because this is an ongoing project, the stadium, and until it's complete, we want we won't have those answers. >> I'm a human being. Everybody here is a human being. I've made mistakes at work. I made mistakes in the Marine Corps, but it was always addressed Now legally I don't know what the protocol is. >> Well, it's a simple >> the legal protocol Mr. Ciz is I have to follow the guidelines by the Texas Open Meetings Act. So I can't really engage in a lot of conversation with you. >> Understanding of color is already that bright orange or uh it's not burnt orange. Okay. There's tradition
011in Alice, Texas. And I don't see any too much gray hair except this gentleman over here. >> Right. >> And that's not a foot down people. >> I I just want to ask the question why. Councilman's already said if it comes up >> and if it doesn't, we'll get back to you and we're going to let you know. >> I wish you just let the public know because I'm trying to defend yourselves at the coffee clubs. If y'all changing the colors, just come out and say you're changing the colors. That'll put a stop to the debate and then you're going to hear from other groups. Well, thank you for your time. I'm sorry I wasted your time, but I'm going to go see the Spurs. >> Yes, sir. Go first. Thank you. >> Thank you
012for your time. >> Of course. >> Yes, sir. I'll talk to you later. Yes, sir. I'm going to make you run lap ser to item number six on the agenda the super report. >> Yes. I'm going to ask that have a request to move item 6G1 up. This is recogn student leadership award and I'm going to invite Dr. Massie over to the podium so she can talk a little bit about the student leadership at Canon Elementary. >> Thank you, Dr. Tino, superintendent, Madame President, Gent, community members. Thank you very much. Um, we're very excited to be recognized by TEPSA, which is the Texas Elementary School uh, Principles and Supervision Association, uh, for our student leadership at Nunan Elementary. And just so that everyone is aware, this is a big deal. There's only 167 schools in
013Texas that are recognized. and uh Nan Elementary's student council for their leadership, their service, and their character has been recognized uh because of their years and years of dedication to other school districts in the surrounding area, the Coastal Food Bank, our own campus, and I'm very proud of the uh giving heart of our Newton Mustangs. And so today we have this wonderful first class students. Um so today I do have three students in attendance with us who uh accept the honor on behalf of our student council and this is our executive leadership team. Can I call them up? >> Of course. >> Okay. So we have Carolyn Moreno. Come on up Caroline. Congratulations. >> Also, we'd like to recognize Javier Rodriguez. And then last but not least, we have Sophia and uncle. These students are
014absolutely uh leaders, future leaders for Alice for Texas and I would say nationwide. Here we have uh featured doctors, engineers and uh city leaders. So, these are really amazing uh human beings. I can't wait to see what happens when they walk across the Alice High School stage and invite me to their college graduation. Two more. Okay, want to take a picture too big of our students. sign up and continue to excel in everything that they do. Some of these kids as part of the round table and so definitely demonstrating their leadership, their character, their academics and their service. So proud of that. Congratulations parents. Those parents that are in the house, please stand and be recognized. >> Thank you, Dr. Mess, for all you do. Thank you all so much. We're going to follow up
015now with the night coaches to talk a little bit about our academic update. Good evening board president, members of the board, Dr. members of the audience. It is that time of the year again where we have finished the school year. we finished the assessments and we're all awaiting arrival of the various results reporting dates um throughout this summer. So, we're going to start off. I had previously shared this breakdown of as how the reporting dates come out throughout the year. You can see from the highlights um that the initial student level results have been received. These results are very limited. intended to inform graduation and summer school decisions just kind of very student level. Um, however, we also have some highlights on the second portion which is the preliminary results. Those have begun and we
016have a little bit more information uh with those and then that will be followed in July by the final results to the district. um those final results are the ones that then have all of the accountability rules applied to and that's where those uh accountability ratings come from and our taper uh our Texas academic performance reports come out in August based on that. So this evening we're going to get to take an initial look at those preliminary results for our TP pass and our uh star end of course exams. So starting off with Telpass. Telpass is our assessment of progress in English language proficiency for our emergent bilingual students. It measures their proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Well, in order to get kind of an idea of the number of students that we
017have taking these assessments, if you look at the larger bottom graph, um there's a column that says number of students, Telpass, Telpass, ALT, and it gives you a number for each of the campuses. So, for example, Alice High School had 24 students assess, William Adams, 22, um and and so on through. Each student who assessed receives a performance level. So, beginning, intermediate, advanced, advanced, high. Um, but only students who have a prior year assessment um are measured for progress for accountability because they have to have a comparison point to be able to measure if they had the appropriate level of progress. Uh there is a minimum of 10 students at a campus. It has to have a minimum of 10 who had a prior year assessment. So where you see that four of the campuses
018are bold and two are italics. The four that are bold are the ones that met the minimum. So for example, you see, well Nunan had 12 students. But when you consider kindergarten students who don't have a prior assessment, if you have a student who came in from out of state or out of country and hadn't previously taken. So when you factor those in, those two campuses did not have the minimum of 10 uh for the accountability piece. So when you look at how the accountability piece works with these assessments, every year the state compares the percentage of students who made progress to certain targets. So at the very top of the slide, you see a green row and a blue row. The green row is uh the interim target which is our current target. So
019this was the targets set by the state for the years 22 uh 23 all the way up to 2627. So uh campuses have to hit this target for progress. You can see something different for high school, middle school and elementary in order to earn points in closing the gaps which is domain three for accountability. The blue target is a long-term target and it is truly long term. So it is for 20 37 38 and hitting that is the only way you can get the full four points. So kind of with that background um we have to add another piece. So this year the state changed um they shifted how they defined progress. So in the previous couple years they determined a student as having made progress if they went up a level beginning, intermediate, advanced,
020advanced high. If they went up a level in two or more of the domains, so listening, speaking, reading, writing, they just had to bump up in two or more and they counted uh for having made progress. This year they made that a little bit more challenging. So this year they switched it to having to actually go up a level in the overall composite score. So you could potentially increase in the domains and not kick up to the next composite. So they did make that change this year. Um despite the fact that there was a more challenging uh bar to hit, we still had all four of the campuses that met the minimum requirements uh for size requirements for accountability. All four you see in green the yeses met that current target. Um then on top
021of that, three of them also met that long-term 2037 38 target as well. Any questions on to pass? Okay, then we get to move into our end of course exams. You're going to see two different slides because you're going to see our slides for Ellis High School end of course exams and then you're going to see our slides for William Adams Middle School because we do have quite a few students who are eighth graders taking high school end of course exams. So you'll see those separately as we start to look at this. It's really important to note 22, 23, and 24. Those are final taper numbers that accountability results have been or accountability rules have been applied to. Of course, we don't have that yet for 26. So, what you're seeing for 26 are just
022our preliminary uh numbers. So, that does not reflect snapshot students. Um it does not include our fall and summer retesters who passed. So those students will be added in. Um it does not include ECR uh the extended constructed response rescores. Uh to give you an idea on that, we have already gotten some of those rescores back from the state. And from high school English one and English two, we had seven more students who bumped up a performance level just from that initial set of rescores. And two of them actually went initially they said they hadn't passed and with the rescores they did. and then the other five bump to meet. So we also have some more that we're requesting. Uh so all of that is in play and then of course the other accountability rules.
023So just so those last set of numbers they will shift a little bit. But just kind of looking straight across first at the top we have algebra one and it's approaches and then meets and then masters below it. And uh you can kind of see the growth going across. And what's highlighted there is if you look from spring 2023 to spring 2026, you can really get a sense of the growth over time there with that. Uh looking approaches from 60 to 83, needs from 19% to 48% and then the masters from 5% to 19%. kind of looking the same way. The biology across um you see uh the growth there as well especially the meats from 36% meets um in 2023 and u it has moved to 60% at this time. English 1 63 36
024and five in 2023 and looking at 74 49 and 3. English 2 62 38 and 3 now looking at 71 57 and 6 and US history 85 48 and 14 now looking at 93619 um so you can kind of see the shift starting to happen uh really into the meats quite a bit you're seeing some of it into the masters there and then of course our goal is to continue that shift getting up everybody up into that meets and mast's level and uh as many into masters as possible. So that's the looking forward uh goal there. Moving on to whams. So we now have English one biology and algebra 1 that all test at whams. So this year we had 27 students take algebra 1 as eighth graders and uh they of course all uh
025100% approaches 100% meets and 81% of them uh hit masters this year. So um approaching all uh our biology was 100 and uh 35 um which did reflect a fairly decent increase in the meat I sorry the masters on biology there and then English one we hadund 138 and we did have a switch the teacher that we had the prior year went to the high school and so uh we had a teacher this year that tackled English one for the first time and did a really nice job with that um so we'll continue to see growth there as well another thing uh that's Really important to note here, if you think back to the high school growth, I'm going to just go back to that screen for a second. High school has continued to experience
026this growth despite the fact that those students you just saw from William Adams. These scores are no longer part of high school scores. These are algebra 1 students who are not part of algebra 1. Um, and if you think about two years ago, two years ago in biology and English one, these students were included in those numbers when you think about, you know, the students who would have been taking it at 8th grade. So despite the fact that this group has kind of been split out and is now testing on a different campus, high school has still been able to see uh growth happening at their campus as well. Any questions on any of those the scores here >> for the for the WAMS one? So that's 27 kids for each uh algebra, biology, and
027English. >> Algebra one was 27, biology is 34. Uh we did have two class periods of biology this year. And then English one was 26. Thank you. Anything else? Okay. And then of course now that we're actually getting results, ensuring that families and community know where and how and when they can see these results is a hugely important part of this because everybody is all doing this together as a team. >> We're already getting emails from parents. >> Yes. Um and so at the top I have shared again uh this little chart. This just targets when things hit family and research portals for each of the tests. There's two rows. The first row, these preliminary results like the ones that I just showed for EOC and TPASS, the first row is when those hit the
028family portal and when they hit the the public research portal. And then the second row is for when the final results hit. So once those dates come, then parents have access through their family access, which we now um have it as a one-click thing from Skyward. So, if parents are in Skyward where they already get their grades and their attendance, uh they can just click where it's uh in red there, Texas assessments, and boom, they're in there. They have their students entire history. Um, and my favorite part, even as a parent, it was too was getting to see all the actual questions and your students responses to them, including their writing. So all of that is accessible in there by families. Um so that's really great. We made a very short little video with some
029screenshots of the parent portal. Uh and we did have a link to that uh posted online in the social media and uh we will re uh put that out again now that we're getting closer to the dates. Then on the public asset access side, I always like to share uh this website uh texasresarchportal.com. This website once those dates hit um anybody can go in and search any school district in the state. So I mean it's not just Alice. Now it doesn't have all the detailed information obviously that the family portal has. It's not going to have individual kids. It's not going to have the questions, but it is going to have, you know, percentages for everybody. Um, it is important to keep in mind that those numbers shift a little bit. So, there's going to
030be the preliminary numbers and then they're going to update with final numbers. So, it's possible to go in and look and then go later and see something else. Um, and also when taper numbers come out in fall, those numbers are slightly different as well because they've had accountability rules applied. So, sometimes people will see numbers in different places and kind of go, "Oh, was one of them wrong?" and it it's not it's just either a shift in time or a different set of of data. Okay. Uh any questions on results or reporting? Okay. Uh we're going to look uh just super quick at some of the summer learning going on. Um we had uh prior presentations on what was coming up and yeah, it's it's now underway. So at the elementary that's your far left
031we have our across the USA Alice ISD leads the way and uh this is a collaboration between ACE and summer school so for the first time they are fully combined um and that is being held at Dubose all the campuses are are together at Dubose um and that runs from June 1st through July 3rd um as of last this this past Thursday which was June 4th 4, they had a little over 200 students um in attendance. Then the middle two are at Williams Adams Middle School. They have their Coyote Jumpstart Learning Academy, which is their academic support. And then they do also have an advanced math session. So, all of our students who had um sixth grade advanced math, it's uh a bridge for sixth grade ad math advanced math students going into their seventh
032grade year because in their seventh grade year they're going to be learning eighth grade. So, it's helping uh bridge as well. And they also on that day they had approximately 150 students in attendance as of the Thursday. And then high school has a few different things going on. They have their end of course prep for their students who will be retesting in June, which that number gets less and less every year. So, that's great. Um, they also have credit recovery for any students needing credit recovery. And then they do also have some uh courses for uh credit um for advancement to to move forward. And uh as of last 30 last Thursday, they were also around about 150 students in all in attendance. And then coming up, our new this year, uh, which you've heard
033about and it's going to start happening next week, is our camp coyote sessions. So, the first week runs next week. Uh, the next session is after that. They did run registration from May 18th to the 29th. So, the registration is complete. Uh, and that's going to get off the ground um on uh next week. and we're we're really kind of excited about this one to see how it goes. This actually grew out of a suggestion at parent roundt um and conversations from that and said, you know what, that's a great idea. Let's give it a try. And so we started kind of small with, you know, grades three through five. Uh but we're really looking forward to see how it goes um and how we do on that. And finally, uh, last thing is that
034the, uh, June star dates at the high school will be the week of the 22nd through the 25th, uh, for our Denver EOC courses that, uh, you know, we have some retesters or even in some cases first-time testers who may be graphs and so on. And that's what I have. Any questions? >> Thank you. Now we have the honor artist present over student services board president Dr. members of the audience. I am excited to bring to you the student services deputy for June for the campus year the attendance comparison you will see that science and sher both were the highest gain compared to last school year at 0.14%. We also had WHM Science and Dubos who also showed some gains for the district. We actually met our goal compared to last year. We met at
03593.09%. We had a 0.82% increase. That is huge because that was a big team effort. Thank you to our campus principles for helping with that and also central office for the support as well. For the yearly attendance revenue loss analysis, we did compare to last year. We saved $61,873.78. For the DAP yearly comparisons, our DAP placements decreased at all campuses compared to last school year. Alice High School had the big biggest decrease at 25 less students placed at DAP for the this data. This actually reflects students who were given inschool suspension and out of school suspension throughout the school year. All the campuses had a decrease compared to last school year. Alice High School had 352 less students sent out of the classroom. WHAMS had 570 less students sent out of the classroom. At the
036elementary level, we had Dubos who had 70 less students compared to last school year. And at the district, we had 1,020 less students sent out of the classroom. This shows that our students are engaged and learning more. That's all I have. So very positive things happening at any questions for my responses. >> Uh I know Miss Sanchez is not here but uh in her report there is a revenue and expenditure report in your packet and the other item that we want to discuss from this department is the HB excellence award. There was a $50,000 grant and how that was u distributed. So I invite Miss Lucha's back up just to share a little bit about uh how the district decided how to spend our $50,000. So good evening. So as you know um we had
037the very exciting event of being awarded the HB small excellence in education small district award. got so excited about the award I couldn't even talk and with that came $50,000 and so because this award it's truly one that you know it's district it's it's a earned by so many different people um the whole all the stakeholders the community everything um so a committee was formed to determine how those funds were going to be distributed and used the committee membership included some district leadership so it was put together by Lori Ortha, executive director of leadership and student improvement. Gorsa Melissa Sanchez was included, chief financial officer, and myself. U for campus leadership, Dr. Kubala from the high school participated. And then for other stakeholders, we had Jessica Kau representing teachers, Anna Homegr as a community member,
038Tara Mendietta as a parent, and Matthew Cannon as a student. So, the whole committee came together and uh what they determined was that the two largest campuses, WHAMS and Alice High School, would receive $10,000 each. Then each of the elementary campuses would receive an equal 6,875 with uh 2500 for the district level. The committee also uh requested that each campus or or group submit a proposal application outlining how those funds were going to be used. The deadline to submit that proposal um is June 10th. The committee will reconvene on June 17th to look over those updates and uh see how each campus will be utilizing those allocated funds. The form uh will be turned in as supporting documentation and all campuses will receive their portion of the funds. This is just a little example of
039the the proposal form. It's just you know what category is it and then a description of what it is that uh is the plan. Now because the deadline for the proposals hasn't come yet, we don't have proposals from all the campuses yet. Um but we do have some and so we wanted to share just a couple examples of some of the things uh that are in the proposals. Um so for Whams uh they're looking at a new marquee. Shouter is looking at uh some updates to enhance their library. Dubose is including an update in their gym including new gym wall padding. And uh for signs uh they have their new rain garden area and so they're looking at some outdoor classroom uh furniture equipment. Uh so those are just some examples of the kinds of
040things that the different campuses are looking at so far. Any questions? >> Thank you. Thank you. >> We're excited to see all those meetings. Well deserved. The next item that we have is a report on the interest earnings from the bond proceeds and the stadium. So in April of 2026, we had earned $2,217,9728. Currently we've earned $2,274,960. that it's increased by six 56,993 89 cents from April to May. And uh I'd like to continue with a presentation on the facilities starting with our stadium. So I invite Tim from Jacobs and David Egles from PK to give an update. Uh good evening members of the audience, board members, Dr. Jinho. I'm Tim Blinder with Jacobs, project manager. This is uh David Glaciius. He's with PPK Architects and just here to give a progress report on the
041stadium. Start. I always start with just kind of a a plan view of the stadium. just kind of show exactly where we're at. Uh, you know, north of the football field is the uh fieldhouse. Left side is homeside. Right side is the visitor side. And down there at the bottom is the visitor's concession. Here's an overall view. This was taken last Thursday. Uh, as you can see, uh, field turf is in. Uh, the detention pond down there to the right is, uh, completed. They're back filling it as of right now. visitors bleachers are going in. Just as kind of a overview. Uh go to the next one. This is uh facing south. Uh right there below on the bottom is the fieldhouse and then visitors left side, home side, right side. Uh we'll start with
042building A which is the south concession on the home side. Uh exterior CMU has been completed. The structural steel obviously has been completed. Uh the MEP wall wall rough in has been completed. Roofing has been dried in. They still have to do uh a parapit cap on the top of the roof. Uh but as of right now, you know, it's completely dried in. Uh the interior CMU has also been completed. Uh they still have a little bit of patchwork and rubbing the walls to make them uh look good. Uh the MEP overhead rough in is uh is ongoing. Uh the overhead MEP insulation is ongoing and then painting is also ongoing. Uh go with building B which is the press box. Uh structural steel is finally complete. We had two stair landings that we needed
043to install which we had that installed. So structural steel is complete on that. Uh exterior waterproofing is also completed. Uh the MEP overhead installation is completed. Uh tape and float on the first and second floor has been completed. Uh wall texture on the second floor has been completed. Uh and then exterior Zfurring which is the framing for the metal panels is uh is ongoing and the exterior middle panel insulation that kind of goes with the wall panel installation uh is ongoing. And then uh low voltage uh rough end which is just pull pulling wire for fiber uh cameras all that good stuff is is currently ongoing. Uh and then the ceiling rough in with you know the ceiling grid and all that stuff is is ongoing right now because that ceiling grid is completed. Uh
044and then the second floor restroom fixtures which is toilet sinks that sort of stuff is also ongoing. Here's just some other photos. That's the main corridor in the press box. Ceiling grid is in. You can see light fixtures are going in. Over to the right is the big giant IT uh racks uh with all the wire getting pulled to it. Uh the picture on the left is the community room all the way down to I guess that would be north of the press box. And then to the right is just kind of an updated picture of all the metal panels that have been installed. Uh this is just a overview just kind of on the outside with a drone photo press box and this is a backside or front side facing Southerntherlands. Insulations all going
045in. Masonry is going up on that one column over there to the right. Go to building C, which is the north home concession stand. The exterior CMU is complete. Structural steel's complete. Uh the wall rough in for MEP is complete. Uh MEP overhead rough in is ongoing and roofing has been completed and then interior CMU uh was completed as of last week and they're uh starting to start with the interior painting over there at building C. Moving to building D, which is the press box. Uh exterior CMU, uh or interior CMU, excuse me, is completed. Uh the exterior roof parapit framing sheathing has been completed. That's also been waterproofed. Uh all that's ready to go for metal panels. Uh the roofing's been dried in. Again, with all the roofing, we just kind of temporarily dry
046it in and then we'll come in and trim it out with all the the the coping metal cap on top of those parapit walls. Uh painting's ongoing. You can see they're starting on the striping. They've done the dryfall on the ceilings, on the exposed areas. Uh low voltage and overhead wiring is also ongoing. That's that goes with the, you know, fiber and and security cameras, all that good stuff. Uh floor and wall tile. I don't have a very good picture of the wall tiles and the floor tiles because when I went in there today, they had it all taped off because they were painting ceilings. Uh but that is I think they have a few areas they still got to grout in, but other than that uh floor and wall tiles completed in the uh
047fieldhouse uh the tape and float is has also been completed. Uh they're putting first coat of paint on. Uh and then the ceiling grid, it's also uh been completed in the areas that take ceiling grid. And then the exterior block veneer is ongoing. And here are just a couple photos. And then also toilet fixtures uh have been installed. And off to the left is that main entrance to the fieldhouse all framed out with plywood waiting on uh laminate to put on that. Uh and then here are some of the hard ceilings or not hard ceilings, drop ceiling on both sides of that main uh middle area of that fieldhouse. First coat of paint on the walls. We'll move to building E, which is the visitors concession stand. Uh the exterior CMU has since been completed.
048The interior CMU is ongoing. They're expected to finish, you know, before the end of the week. Uh and then MEP wall and overhead rough in is ongoing. That kind of goes up with the walls uh as they're being built. And then the roofing is ongoing. Uh they're probably 90% dried in on that. Uh so that's the visitors concession stand. Go to the site. Uh homeside bleacher foundations. That's just the columns itself. Uh that's been completed. Uh the visitors bleachers are about 80% uh completed. Uh the track asphalt has been completed. Uh we're waiting on Helis or not Helis uh field turf should be mobilizing Friday to do the actual track surfacing there. Uh is Friday is what I'm being told. Uh retaining walls and concrete turndowns uh have been completed or the retaining walls have
049been completed. Concrete turndowns. That's a picture right there in the middle of of a turndown right on the outside of the track. Uh that's still ongoing. Uh the turf obviously has been completed. Uh the fieldhouse, there's a loop road right in front that's been poured that's completed. Uh scoreboard structure and underground raceways have also been completed. I'll show a picture of the the structural steel for that uh new scoreboard. Uh, and then fencing and sidewalks or and flat work is just going to continue to be ongoing until uh we get there to the end. This is kind of an overview. I don't know if I can show I don't want to mess with that. Uh, but down there to the right, uh, where all that block is stacked up, that's a main portion of, you
050know, our heavy duty concrete that's been poured. That's a big uh win with, you know, all the rain that we've been getting for people to stage materials and, you know, stay somewhat out of the mud. Uh that's a big thing. Over to the right, you can see all the white uh line stabilization. Uh that's goes all the way to the other approach we have over there. So hopefully we, you know, will be pretty close to being I don't want to say dried in, but the site having access everywhere. So rain I mean rain definitely doesn't help uh but slow it it's not going to slow us down as much as uh if we didn't have that lime down and the crushed stone. So that's that. Here's another that's just a photo of the visitors bleachers
051going in. They got the weather shield underneath which is the gutter system. So when it rains, you know, water's not dripping under people that are underneath the bleachers. It all runs through a gutter system at the very front of the bleachers. Uh and then the seats and aluminum's going in right now. Uh this is the home side. Uh kind of goes with, you know, preparing for our bleacher guys. If we didn't have the concrete underneath the visitor site bleachers, we would be well behind on that with all the rain that we've had recently. So, you know, be prepared real well on that so that it didn't slow them down much with all the rain. Uh, as you can see over to the left, uh, we got a lot of that flat work down. That really
052opens up, you know, our people, our guys doing all the metal wall panels, let them allow them to continue to work without, you know, weather, uh, affecting them too much. Uh, that was a big win as well. Uh, and then this is just a photo of the scoreboard structure that was installed last week. Uh, so that's that. And then you can kind of tell I have another photo of the underground detention. So you can kind of see what that actually entails. Uh, that's all been covered up over there. This is just kind of an overview. All that uh crushed stone down at the bottom, that's, you know, that's pretty much water or weatherproof. Uh once that's in, you know, we can drive over it. It could be pouring down rain and you know, we we
053have access to the site. So that's really good. This is just another view. That's the south parking lot with the detention pond, the scoreboard structure, that kind of stuff. And then earthwork uh lime stabilization for the southwest parking lot. Uh this is an old photo uh that's been completed. That's where all that crushed stone is. uh live civilization for the west parking lot which is that long run that was done last week. So we should start seeing some stone come in and just kind of continue down the line without press blocks. Uh and then live stabilization for the southeast parking lot which is at CPR1. That big giant parking lot is scheduled for June 20th which is uh will be really good get that all lined and uh get crushed stone out there and make
054that also uh water resistant up there. Moving to site utilities, uh, storm systems, 99% done. They just have one little tiein they got to do with the actual underground detention system. These are old photos from last week. These are just some inlet boxes that connect to the that underground detention system. That sanitary system is 99% done. Uh, and then the site utilities, uh, they got to just grout in some pipes and some in the boxes and, uh, they'll be done with that. And then here's that photo of that underground attention which it's a bunch of plastic, you know, egg crate situations. You know, it's underneath the the parking lot, so you don't have a actual surface detention pond that, you know, has mosquitoes and that kind of stuff. And so it's up underneath the parking
055lot. But I just thought that was interesting to to let y'all see what that big hole over there and those big black boxes were going into. So that's it right there and that's all I have. I don't know if you want to add anything. Just wanted to add that new furniture is expected to be ready the first week of July. So uh once it's ready then it's the matter of scheduling delivery once it's uh once the site's ready for. So that was a big item we were concerned about on the timeline. So it seems like we're good there. And then just to also note the weather impact. We're tracking about 10 days in the month of May just due to weather. Obviously, they're trying to progress as as quickly as possible. So, >> I have
056a question. I question >> what color is the the turf? Is it burnt orange? Is it bright orange? Neon orange. So the orange turf is the darkest orange turf that was available by field turf. Those were the samples that we received and that was a sample that was selected. Um and so that that's what that's what's installed. As far as it specifically being burnt orange, I don't think that's color. >> Yeah. So I'm not exactly sure what the name of it is, but that was the darkest orange color that was available. Is it possible for you to get the name and then the grid of sample oranges? And I'm asking this because it drove me bonkers when remember the stadium when we had painted Memorial Stadium and it was a completely different color. And so
057half of our stadium was burnt orange and the other half was just I don't even know what color orange. It was not burnt orange. So, I get the community's concern because I at one point was that person in the community confused as to why we have different oranges, shades of orange. But if we could at least post that since apparently that's the talk around town, the coffee shop talk, I haven't even seen it, so I wouldn't know. But, uh, I would show the biggest color chart with the oranges that were available and that was the darkest one. Um, we did, uh, once we started hearing the buzz, we did take the actual sample that we were given and we placed it out on site just to verify that it was correct and it is matching.
058>> And from the pictures, it looks like it's dark orange. So, I don't know. >> Yeah, it show. And the track, what color would that be? >> The track is going to be red. That was a red color that was selected. And then the exchange zones will be gray. >> Um, so those are the colors that that were selected. So the the >> good. So you're saying that the color that was was at the committee that chose that? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> The samples were presented and that's what was >> is there any remedy to fix it or if it's not the >> darkness? Like we can't paint it or do anything like that? >> Anything's possible? Yes. But as far as paint, just like anything else, you know, the durability and the timeline,
059you know, the life expect. >> Are you saying that the people that we chose to do the turf, that was the only color they had, >> right? That's the darkest >> available, those were the options that were presented. Correct. >> And sometimes seeing it from the street and seeing it, >> sometimes it doesn't look >> it does look different, especially once you put the track in. And now it does now it does have the pellets and the infill. I know that was you know pending early on. So I mean it's more of a of a completed system or pretty much complete at this time. Um we're just pending the actual GMAX testing to be sure that we m we meet the impact resistance. I mean, and the stadium looks beautiful, but like I pulled up
060a picture of like UT Stadium and you can when you look at it in a picture and then you look at ours, you can see that it's orange versus burnt orange. >> So my question is that because we need to have answers for the community, >> right? >> Because they are very traditional here and so we need to make sure that >> Well, did do the they did do the UT field too, correct? Correct. >> They did. So, the person that could answer that question is not here. That's whoever >> the vendor was for the turf and field. >> And what I've been told is that what is currently at DPR as far as UT Stadium, it's not burnt orange. It's more of a brown color because they want it darker. So, >> I have
061brown. >> So, that's that's what I was told. It feels brown. It's probably like a r like a rust color. >> And if you really want to go into the history of orange, the true Alice Coyote orange is actually that color, not we didn't start off as burnt orange. We started off as a bright orange and through the years we've gone to burnt orange. I know as early as in the 40s and 50s we were bright orange. So anyway, just food for thought >> but maybe next uh month we can have field here so they can you know response to some of the questions so if we can get just appreciate it thank you >> I didn't see what percent you were at on the on the >> so we're completion >> overall completion we're
062right over 70% overall >> um obviously some areas are further along than others but overall the entire project were a little over 70%. >> The bleachers on the home side, when are you anticipating putting those up? >> So, I'm I'm tracking that day right now, but we are being told and they have promised that both sides will be 100% complete the end of July. So, they'll be walking off the the field, you know, everything's, you know, chairs are in, everything's in at end of July is what they're telling us. As as far as them starting on the home side, uh there's a couple little details we got to get done before they get over there because we don't want to cover other people up, but uh that's the dates that they're giving us and we're
063we're we're holding them to those dates. You did say that a few meetings back though that the home bleachers were going to be like one of the last things all even do. Right. Correct. He said every damn near dang near Whoa. Everything would be done but the home bleachers, right? >> I thought I remembered. Yes. >> Excuse my good for the first home game for it. >> We have not rented any other facilities. So we are anticipating >> have a choice. >> Thank you. >> Now I'm gonna invite Michael to the podium just to get a quick overview on the route at Ellis High School of the ACs and any updates throughout the district. >> Madam President, thank you for being here. Uh just a quick update on the maintenance operations report. The district uh
064I'm talking about maintenance. Mr. Boss uh proactively conducting preventive maintenance with AC as a the district-wide units as part of the 5-year strategic plan. Uh this work includes washing coils, greasing bearings and uh to include filters which is 537 of them uh to ensure optimal performance and extend the life of the equipment. uh at the high school children number two uh has been repaired. So uh I have a third party working on unit number one uh and we'll keep you updated as we proceed with that uh that project. uh regarding the roofing project, a meeting with uh a meeting with the roofing and the building consultant was scheduled will be scheduled or is scheduled, I'm sorry, for Thursday at 10:30 a.m. uh to discuss uh the recommendations, the scope of the work, and to move
065forward with that uh that major project. Um, additionally, the district is still waiting for professional I'm going to have the potholes professionally done to looking at our budget along with the uh speed bumps at our campuses around our campuses. The reclaim that we're using right now, it's just not working with the rain that we get. That stuff just keeps popping up uh and same end result, right? We're just putting more money basically a band-aid application which is serving no purpose. So those are my thoughts with that. Uh custodial work uh throughout the district they already started uh stripping and waxing the floors. So we got that going on right now. And for the uh my partner there uh Kim Kobala. So, we talked earlier today about our annual inspections, which include the fire extinguishers, uh,
066fire alarm, sprinklers, backflow, and, uh, those will be held here pretty soon during the summer. So, that's the end of my report. Do you have any questions? >> Mike, I the baseball lock air condition has it been completely fixed. >> So, we got that one that's on a warranty. So, I got some like I'm not going to go there with the warranty, right? You know, we when it comes to the warranty, you know, they, you know, they pick and choose when they want to come. So, I'm working on that. And then with the JV, uh, we're looking at a totally a total replacement for that one. >> And the reason I was ask is because now that we have the seventh grade, eighth grade, and coach said we're going to be shipping them over here.
067So, they're going to be using I'm thinking the JV locker room to change and stuff and the AC. I mean that we've been that's been an ongoing thing. >> Yeah. So that's a brand new unit. That's not even in August will be a year. So uh I've been battling with the the company to get that. They did finally come out. Uh there's only two units out there. They said they looked at the wrong one. So be it. But uh I assure you that I contact them almost every day to see where they're at with that. So totally needs a part. A compressor of course that's under warranty. So, and of course, I will be submitting for a quote on a new unit as part of that 5-year strategic plan to replace the JB side. >>
068Okay. >> So, we don't have an air conditioned, a workable AC for the JB locker room and the baseball >> locker room. >> Okay. And when does that season start? >> Well, we have to January soon, right? February. But, >> Right. >> But they have already, right? Well, at the beginning of the school year cuz I'll get a year by the time, you know, and it was hit and miss. One was working, one wouldn't, but the one that was supposed to be working at all time is a brand new unit. So, >> warranty for it. >> That's on me. But, like I said, when it comes to the warranty part, you know, they, you know, they pull their thumbs when it comes to >> owning up on that. So, >> so we don't know when
069it's going to be fixed. >> It should be. They're supposed to be waiting on the part. So, I continue to monitor that. >> Oh, so they're they're waiting on it right now. >> Yeah. So, of course, it's a compressor. Uh, and so that's where >> on the fine arts update, Mr. Bennett is in here. He is in Florida. We did have 115 students in Florida with 11 directors and chaperoons. They departed on June the second and are scheduled to return on June the 10th. So our students performed at Universal Studios on Friday, June the 5th. It was the Art of Dolly workshop and the workshop involved performing music to the movie Despicable Me for both the band and the choir. And they actually had some of the students do the voice over for the characters
070in the movie and it was a great experience and they wanted me to express their gratitude and they were very excited to be on the trip and you all approved them to to go on that. So Mr. Bennett and the entire band and choir and fine arts are very happy. So thank you for that. Uh then next we have coach Ganos come up to the podium to give an athletic update. Good evening, madame president school board and Dr. just add on to the baseball deal. The those kids do dress in the um football high school lock until January though. So we we do have a little time there. >> Uh I'd like to go over a few hires that we've made along al along with uh some summer programs that we have uh going on
071right now. the first one, uh, our head volleyball coach, uh, class of 2000 from from Alice High School. Uh, she spent 20 years at at Whams Middle School, uh, as an assistant volleyball coach, basketball and and track. Uh, she spent the last two years at Benbolt uh, ISD as the head volleyball coach and the girls coordinator. Uh, we welcomed uh, Coach Fox at a meet and greet that we had on June the 4th. a good turnout of of parents, coaches, uh, and athletes as well. Uh, so we're really excited and look forward to, uh, what coach Fox, what can Candace Fox to bring to our to our volleyball program. Our second hire, um, Coach Matt Peterson, um, has spent six years as the head softball coach at Flugerville High School. Uh, he went to Baylor
072on a on a baseball scholarship. So, why softball? Uh, he had three daughters. So, he had three daughters that drove him uh into the softball world. Uh we had a meet and greet for Coach Peterson on May the 27th and again um some of you were there. So, we thank you for being there, but had a good turnout of of parents, coaches, and athletes as well. So, we're super excited uh to bring Coach Peterson uh on. Let me let me go back. Uh Coach Fox will be part of our physical education and our ISS program. uh and coach Matt Peterson will be part of our uh history uh department. Another change we made down at Whams, uh our boys athletic coordinator, head football coach uh down there. Uh born and raised here in Alice. He
073graduated in 2010. Uh has served as an assistant coach at Whams uh for the past four years. Has coached uh football, basketball, track, even softball here at the high school. a very structured, organized young man, disciplined style of coaching. Uh, coach Benny Betta. Um, and he's actually one of the one of the coaches trying to pursue a CDL as well. So, we're real excited about our boys program under some new leadership uh down there. We get into a couple of camps that we hosted already. Uh, our girls basketball camp, uh, we had this one on June the 1st through the 3rd. uh and we open it up to all third graders through eighth graders. Had 53 total uh kids that competed on that uh 3-day camp. Uh all of our high school coaches were involved
074uh with with that particular camp. So, we had a great a great turnout with that basketball camp. Oops. Let me go back. It's our boys basketball camp. We had it on the same dates. It was just a different time. Again, it was third grade through 8th graders. Had a total of 40 boys uh that attended that particular camp. Uh and again, all of our high school coaches helped with with that camp. Our summer track program, uh tremendous job. They've had a total of almost 100 kids, uh at the summer track program, ages five through 12 running summer track. You can imagine all the 5-year-olds out there. There's 75 total of those age groups, 5 through 12, and about 25 kids that are 13 uh through 18. Those kids are practicing at our Lamps uh track
075right now. Uh and they have three track meet schedule. So, that program has continued to grow and obviously with every stadium, it's going to it's going to go real big again. get back to that strength and conditioning program. We started this today. Uh great turnout. Uh we had over 140 boys that showed up and this is for any This is a lot of people think this is specifically football, but it's for any incoming seventh grade uh through 12th grader. It's a strength and conditioning program for all of our uh athletics. Uh so it's not specific just for football. Uh it's for any kids that are interested in working out. Uh, so you want them to get a good night's sleep, bring them up there to us, uh, let them work, we'll work them out for
076a couple of hours. Uh, we break it down by an hour of of weight training in the weight room and then we give them a little break and then we do an hour of conditioning. Uh, and then we go and we break up into a sports specific uh, which could consist of uh, football, basketball, uh, baseball and all those sports. We also had over 105 girls attend uh today as well. So, um good numbers. Almost 250 kids showed up this morning, but I know we can do better. Uh I've challenged all of our coaches uh to get more kids out there because again, this is incoming 7th grade uh through 12th graders. Uh and we have a lot more athletes than that. So, uh help us promote that. But we're super excited about this. is
077a six-w weekek program, three hours a day, Monday through Thursday. It's free to your child. Uh won't charge them anything. Um and it gets them stronger and faster. We go back to our soccer camp. These are some camps that we have coming up. Uh we have a Lady Coyote summer soccer camp that's going to happen on July the 6th uh through the 8th. So, we'll start putting out uh this information for all of our kids that are interested in soccer. It's not on the flyer, but again, it'll be for all incoming third uh through eighth graders. And then the last one will be our uh Coyote football camp uh which will be in July, the end of July, July 22nd uh to the 23rd. Uh this will be in incoming fourth grade through 9th graders
078uh from 9 to 11. And we'll start pushing out all that information as well. >> Any questions? I have another question, coach. Um, with the seventh grade and eighth grade, again, adding that we're looking probably I don't know what he's going to carry, but I'm assuming maybe 20 to 25 kids. That's extra 50 kids. >> Uh, and baseball and softball. >> When can we get those extra cages ready for baseball? So, >> I don't know the girls have anything extra, but >> Right. We have tal I talked met with guys already. talk about that because uh one of the cages that's needs some help, >> right? >> Uh so we've talked about he's getting some quotes right now. >> Okay. >> Uh for that that has come up and the thing with softball um we
079would need to probably add another cage. I think there's the availability to have two teams in there right now. So possibly adding another one. Watch coach Peterson gets here. We can start that. But but you're you're you're 100% correct. with uh more kids out there, more teams, you're going to need more facilities. So, we are that is in the works. >> And as far as that uh as far as coaching, are you uh are you really short or you're good or where we at on coaching? >> We need we need one more baseball coach uh which we have. We think we have uh and we need one junior high softball coach. So, and that's kind of in the works right as we speak. Yeah. >> Yeah. the replacing the ones that's left like we lost.
080>> Okay. So, it's coming over. It's all right. >> What about are we are are boys participating in seven on seven? I know that's separate, but >> we actually have our first seven on seven game Wednesday. Yes, ma'am. That we are. Yes. >> Our girls are in a volleyball playing basketball. >> I know basketball, but girls are getting in now. We have a volleyball coach. We're getting volleyball. Anything else? Thank you. >> Tickets. Next on the agenda. >> So, we can obviously know that the community is excited about the stadium and they're wanting to make sure that they continue to support the Coyotes and it's nice to hear like Mr. Sol is very passionate about the love that he has for our coyote. So, we're going to show for the first time publicly the video
081on the tickets and the sales and all that good stuff. The committee met multiple times months back and I'm glad that it's they've actually been really good at keeping it, you know, quiet and hush hush until tonight. And so, here we go for the first time. >> I know because I've heard a lot of rumors. >> We'll see. >> Are you ready for some football? Get ready. They only they're only going
084to be able to purchase four >> the first three days and then after that they can go back and purchase >> more >> cuz I'm one of those 50%. >> I agree and I was very vocal about that >> and I was very vocally opposed to buying more than four. Uh, man, Herman, I would go to I mean, I know you did, too, but it it really got to me that there was people that had 15 tickets and there was nobody there and people were dying to get them, man. Like, I just feel like open it up and that was my that was my belief behind it. I'm going to be, you know, short, too, for but I think it's going to be good. I hopefully we pack it versus having massive uh empty sections.
085I don't have to wait. Oh, I don't have to wait. You'll go at 8 in the morning to get >> So, it was out four tickets. It was out. >> Everybody was talking about it, but I I was I don't know. I wasn't part of it. So, I don't know. And then uh the next item for information if there's no other additional we are going to post this uh for everyone tonight and thereafter uh we do think that uh starting to sell them early there's a lot of you know people are used to sell or buying them at that time and you know late July early August so we didn't want to change that for them to go earlier and they could have already budgeted. always, you know, there's over a hundred people in Florida
086right now and things like that. So, we just thought it'd be, but we do want to make it public early on, too, so they can look at the little seating chart and evaluate if they want premium, if they want just regular reserve and things like that. But, I mean, I'm excited and hopefully, like Cody says, it will have a lot of people to get tickets. The next item is the last one for the superintendent report is the teacher hiring schedule. I invite Missa up to just this is information because I don't think we were as transparent at the last workshop for the budget. Good evening madame president, members of the board, Dr. Devinos, superintendent of schools and audience. at this time, I would like to direct your attention to page 67 of your board packet
087marked with the orange tab. Page 67 of your board packet with the orange tab where you will find three proposed teacher salary models for your review. The purpose of presenting these models is to provide clarity regarding the different compensation options being considered for the upcoming school year. Beginning with our certified teacher salary schedules. Model one includes starting salary for new teachers $57,710. Model two includes the starting salary for certified teachers from the current 56,400 to 58,345 >> and then >> I think I think that's 57945 for somebody with zero years of experience. >> Zero years. Okay. And then the starting salary. Okay. And then the starting salary for certified teachers from 564 to 58 $985 in model 3. This is for certified teachers. These models demonstrate our commitment to remaining competitive and supporting the recruitment
088and retention of highly qualified educators. Next, I would like to direct your attention to the proposed salary schedules for uncertified teachers. As you know, the state of Texas now requires all elementary classroom teachers to obtain full certification. However, we currently have a number of secondary teachers who are still working toward completing their certification requirements. Alice High School has eight. WHAMS has 10. So a total of 18 DOI teachers in the secondary level. Under model one, an uncertified first year teacher would earn $54,710 compared to the certified teacher salary of $57,710. In model 2, an uncertified first year teacher would earn 55,345 compared to a certified teacher starting salary at 58345. And then in model three, an uncertified firstear teacher would earn 55,985 compared to the certified teacher starting salary of $58,985. The difference between the
089certified and uncertified salary schedules is intended to encourage and support our teachers in obtaining full certification. Certification not only benefits our district and our students but also enhances our teachers professional credentials, career opportunities, and long-term earning potential. We believe this approach appropriately recognizes the value of certification while continuing to support education as they progress toward meeting the state requirements. We plan to have a second budget workshop to answer any other questions prior to the final budget workshop that will be approved in August. Any questions? I I do. Um so what is are we right now trying to hire uncertified teachers or we're going to try to look for certified teachers? We're looking for certified teachers for the especially the >> my only concern is on the uncertified scales that I feel like if as a
090district we only give them a year or two and we only have till 2030 we only have four years um that we not put like one through 30 that we only put like the two years what they can make for those two years and then that's it because they were going to >> yeah we're not going to give them any more time than that. >> Right. And that's good feedback until it has been because they're the ones who >> what is the time frame for them to get the certification >> for secondary next year will be the end for our secondary levels. >> So the you said there's 10 right now at the high school. >> There's 10 at the high at eight at the high school and 10 at WH. >> The eight at
091the high school are due to get they'll be done by when next year you said >> they have to all the >> hopefully they'll pass. Yes, that's the plan. >> And we do have quite a bit of them because I have been staying, you know, on top with them and having meetings with them and checking on them. But we do have quite a bit of them testing right now during the summer. Some tested last week and then we have some more testing this coming uh month because uh our goal is to make sure that majority of them do get themselves certified and this way we're ready when we start with our students. So, what is our plan? What is our plan? I know we're trying to hire certified teachers. >> Yes, ma'am. >> So, what
092is our plan if we are like July and we don't have vacancies? Are we going to then open it up to uncertified or do we have a plan? I mean, I know we want certified. Everybody does, but I'm just I'm just like looking like right now if you look at all the surrounding school districts, they have openings and because they let go of a lot of people. Um, I mean, you look I I know for coach 2, you look on, you know, the Texas Association of Coaches, they have got tons of openings. And so, I just want to know if we have a plan in the event that we cannot find people because I know I'm I'm meeting with every single principal every single week. We're going over through their campus rosters and the ones
093that were DOI like in the elementary and even the ones with the high school like I said we're keeping we're letting them know I'm meeting with them. I'm calling them uh seeing they're telling me exactly when they're scheduled to take their test and how soon we can get their scores back. All right. Even we're trying our best even if they pass their content. Some of their programs are allowing us to give them their internship. >> Yes. >> So, which is valid for one year. >> I know if they pass content, they can get like a letter, >> right? >> Yes. >> And so, >> my worry is that and and trust me because I've looked into all of this. There's like a lot of programs that are out there >> that are just not as
094>> I don't know how to Well, and they're not as friendly. they require them to do so much more than some of like, you know, like the service center. Not that the service center doesn't, but they they kind of work and push their their their uh students a little bit more. Um, and I think there's one in the valley like a career teaching. They're they're really good. They're on the students, but you have some of these programs that these candidates are calling and they don't answer. you know, those that are online or they require so much more before they can even test. So, I feel like they set them up for failure. And for a a new teacher that's trying to, you know, learn everything they have to learn as a brand new teacher in
095a district, do everything that they're required to for their job, and then having to comply with some of these programs. It's ridiculous. And so it concerns me because we just don't have the number of people going out for, you know, teaching, you know, and there's some good good teachers that are out there that are not unfortunately are not certified and, you know, have been maybe let go by districts because they're not. So I just want to know if we just have a contingency plan in the event that we don't find something, you know, >> we will. Yeah, I have a question and maybe this is more of a legal question. So to tap on to what Miss Gera is saying if as part of our contract that will just say enroll in this particular program
096and this is a program we want you to use to get your certifications. Oh sorry to um go with what mrsa is saying like these are the programs we recommend. So you have your choice of program A or B and these are the deadlines that you need to meet and you need to take your test by this certain could that be built into it's already >> it's already an >> not necessarily telling them to go to a certain program because sometimes you get them and they're halfway they switch around >> but just to help what she what Miss Ger is saying is we want for them to be streamlined successful consistent it really makes no sense to have some teachers doing this and it's taking more time when if they're very time consuming. We want
097our kids kids to have the most >> discouraging I think for them too. But on another on another note like um some of these you may get like maybe like a teacher that was at one district and like expired the two years and they're already locked into a program because some of these companies are very very smart. they make you sign a contract. Um I I know I I had a teacher and she said I said, "Why don't you try another one?" And they told her, "Well, pay us $5,000 and we'll let you out of your contract." >> But that's not the only thing. I mean, that's one facet of this, but you guys have had a lot of people who your principles and HR have met with repetitively over the course of the last
098two years and they're not testing and they don't want to test and they don't care that we tell them they have to test. And so I mean you get both sides but it is there is an addendum >> that we put on that even TASBY does it on their model contracts but you're not giving these individuals chapter 21 contracts because you don't have to. >> So I mean I think there's a lot of stuff that that we're doing that your team is doing. >> Um and I know that they are I just kind of feel bad. >> It's just that they you know I just feel like some of these companies require more Yeah. than what you know some some other programs off you know require and so it's just um you know and because
099I've dealt with them and you know you know I've had people come in and say I'm calling they don't answer I'm like locked out and you know it's kind of it's and it's it's hard because you want to help them but you you know every district has their own policy and so it's just you know >> and I wouldn't put who we recommend because we don't know any of those companies. Yeah. Because we just don't know >> right >> who they are, what they do, how long they're going to last, if they're going to stick around. That's not our business, >> right? >> Thank you. >> Super. >> But the ones we do have here, you're doing a lot. >> Yes, that's good to know. On to item number seven, the consent agenda. All items
100under the consent agenda are actually by the board members request. Any item on the consent agenda shall be moved to the action portion of the regular agenda. Prior to approving the consent agenda, I'd like to acknowledge those individuals uh who have and businesses who have supported our district. I'd like to highlight uh the Wyatt Ranch Foundation for making a $50,000 um donation to Sheller Elementary who received a grant on their behalf. >> For that one, if I may, Madam President, I have Dr. Med who's going to share a little bit of how Dr. Dan will be spending that money. >> Thank you. >> Good evening, Dr. Fino, board president, members of the board, and our guests who are still here. Thank you. So, I'm excited about this one. Thank you to the Wyatt Ranch. So
101on behalf of Shallot Elementary, we extend our sincerest gratitude to the Wyatt Ranch Foundation for its generous partnership and commitment to our students. This proposal, $50,000 allocation, will be strategically invested to strengthen specialized supports and enhance learning environments for students receiving special education services while also benefiting Big Campus as a whole. some specifics as far as investments. Uh I'm not going to read over all the little details, but uh technology and learning devices, sensory room enhancements, library renovation, and sensory friendly learning spaces, flexible seating and classroom furniture, student support equipment, teacher resources and instructional materials. Um their support will help us create more inclusive, engaging, and innovative learning environments where every student has the opportunity to thrive. uh belong and achieve. So I know that Dr. Galvanine met with her special education teachers to try
102to find out the areas of need uh things that they wanted to kind of just uh update as we've been wearing and tearing some of the the equipment. So this is what their their purpose is. Thank you, Y Ranch. And um so we're excited about receiving that grant money. Thank you again to the Y Foundation. We'd also like to thank Weaver Jacobs for making a monetary donation of $2,900 to the Alice High School senior class lunchon as well as many other local businesses who donated to the ACE family engagement and to the teacher appreciation week. Uh thank you again and all those businesses and the donations that have been made are posted on the agenda. At this time, do I have a motion to approve the consent agenda? I make a motion that we approve
103the consent agenda. Thank you. I have a motion to approve the consent agenda. >> Second and a second by Mr. Fa. Mr. Adame, >> Mrs. Ghetto, >> I. >> Mr. Pñena, >> I >> Mr. Reeves. >> Hi. >> Miss I. >> At this time, it's 811. We're going to take a short recess to check this first score. >> It's 3321. >> 45 seconds left period. >> It doesn't mean anything. We're up. a little what's this do time is now 8:16 and we're back from the recess on to item number eight action items 8A considerate and take possible action concerning adoption of board resolution approving a commercial driver's license expension program and tuition reimbursement agreement. >> And so this one we are asking for approval. We do have four coaches that are interested in receiving their
104CDL license. It is at a cost of 2800 per driver. Uh but we do need CDL drivers especially during the spring. And uh if you all approve this tonight, they would start the paperwork tomorrow. And they would start on June the 15th all the way through July the 9th, Monday through Friday, 7:30 to 5:30. This resolution, it comes with a commitment. So they would need to commit to being an Aliciz employee for three years and or have to complete the course. So say they start the course and then oh it is a little too hard they would have to reimburse the district or if they left within 3 years they would need to reimburse the district. So we are asking for you all to approve this reimbursement agreement. >> Thank you. At this time do
105we have a motion? >> I make a motion that we approve the the commercial driver's license and CDL expansion program and tuition reimbursement agreement. >> Thank you. I have a motion by Mrs. SC. I'll second >> and a second by Mr. Aiano. Is there any discussion? >> Mr. Aiano. >> I >> Mrs. Gano. >> Hi. >> Mr. Ben. >> Hi. >> Mr. Reeves. >> Oh, myself. I motion passes. 8B. Consideration of possible action of the position for 2026 2021 school year educational diagnostician or licensed specialist in school psychology. as well as test a speech language pathologist and athletic trainer for William Adams Middle School. Dr. Yes, this we discussed at the budget workshop in which uh it was very evident that we've grown by over 100 students in special education and this is requiring uh
106additional support with diagnosticians and the licensed specialist in school psychology as well as the athletic trainer being that we are opening up more sports in the middle schools and during the week there's multiple sports that are happening throughout the week, even on weekends, and they are just on standby for whams, we don't have somebody full-time devoted to WAMS to take care of the needs of the students at the middle school. So, we are recommending that although we have not approved the budget, that we approve the new positions, that way we can open them up and have people, you know, apply and we can uh have a special call meeting at the end of this month or in July. so we can get them on board. But these positions are hard to fill and if we
107don't open up as soon as possible, then it's harder to recruit. So we are asking for approval of that. >> Thank you, Dr. Fino. At this time, do we have a motion? >> I'll make a motion for the approval of 8B with the consideration of possible action of new positions for the 26 27th school year as read. Thank you. We have a motion by Mr. Penny. Is there a second? >> A second by Mr. Reeves. Is there any discussion? >> You said they the position hasn't been open for the trainer or not? >> No. There is a diagnostician position open cuz somebody left. >> Okay. >> So, we're only opening one, not the second. If you all approve, we would have a second. >> Okay. >> Thank you. Is there any more discussion? >> No.
108>> Mr. Ariana. >> I. >> Mrs. SC. >> Mr. Pña. I >> Mr. Reeves >> I >> myself I motion passes >> on to 8 C consideration of possible action of the calendar days from 203 days to 226 days for a licensed specialist in school psychology to LSSP and from 203 days to 209 plus days for the speech language pathologist to meet the special education department needs >> and as well as discussed at the budget workshop, Dr. McGettna has indicated that in the past she's had to hire and contract out because there's so many evaluations that we need to complete in a timely manner. They also have responsibilities of arts and participating in arts and directly running them. And so as as opposed to hiring consultants to do this work, we'd like to hire our
109own who already know the students as well as uh six additional days for the speech language pathologists to complete paperwork and evaluations. In the past, we haven't needed them as much, but they do have report writing to do. So that's the recommendation. >> Thank you, Dr. at this time. Do we have a motion? >> I'll make a motion. >> I have a motion by Mr. Reeves. >> I'll second it. >> And a second. And this is a motion for 8C. So >> for additional >> for the additional time of 203 days to 226 days for the licensed specialist in school psychology and 203 days to 209 plus days for the speech language pathologist for the special needs. for the special education department. Is that correct? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Okay. Thank you. >> At this
110time, do we have any discussion? >> No. Mr. Audiano. >> Hi. >> Mrs. Gh. >> I. >> Mr. Pñena. >> Hi. >> Mr. Reeves. >> Hi. >> Myself. I motion. A discussion consideration of possible action for the 2026 2027 staff stipens. anytime that we're in the process of recruiting coaches or fine arts teachers, it's always good to know what the stipens are. And like I said, we haven't approved raises or anything like that, but that way we can already be posting that information along with uh any other positions that are out there. And so the stipens that are in your packet are exactly as presented in the budget workshop with the exception of adding the a media stipen of $1,500 and that would be for the lights and the video board at the new memorial
111stadium and then the uh middle school dance uh teacher and might uh voca had brought that to our attention that it was all and so we are balancing that off consistent with the cheer coach at the middle school. So those are the only two changes since we presented at the budget workshop. >> Thank you, Dr. Tubino. At this time, do we have a motion? >> I make a motion that we approve the 2627 staff stipens. >> Thank you. We have a motion by Mrs. Geta. Is there a second? >> I'll second. >> And a second by Mr. Penny. Is there any questions? Half one question. Uh Dr. Pino, as far as when you say we're going to post these, are we posting where do we post our openings for the district? Is it just on
112our website? Do we do the regional websites? How are we promoting ourselves? And so we definitely have them on our website. We are a standalone. We used to be with the regional service center, but we post here. And then anywhere that the coaches want to pose, the CTE teachers also have their own sites in particular if we're looking for those. So we have a job fair coming up. So we can also uh be recruiting uh as well, but it is on all our social media platforms. >> Okay. So we're not posting with region two anymore. I have a question to for the coaches with CDL, the Delmare training. Uh, that one they're going to get that stipened after the three years or they going to be eligible to get it once they finish the program?
113>> Eligible to get it once they start driving. So, >> okay. >> Is there any other questions or comments? No. Mr. Arianiano, >> hi. >> Mrs. SC >> I >> Mr. Fenya >> I >> Mr. Reeves >> I >> myself I motion passes on to 8E discussion and consideration and possible action of the 2026 2027 staffing allocation guidelines. >> Those were also discussed at the budget workshop. The only uh change there was a recommendation made to go down with the prek numbers back to 22 to one. The only thing that we'll ask is if this year we only had one classroom districtwide that was over at 22 to1 that we would ask for a waiver if we have a class or two that would be over but this year we only experienced one class and
114that was at science elementary. >> Um Dr. Tabinho on that um and I I I needed to correct myself but I think prek is 22 to two. It's 11 to one >> and so it I mean and normally you have an eight but it is it is 22 to two. >> Okay. And uh you're correct in that sense and we do have two in those classrooms but we'll make that >> the correction Dr. Dino will be >> okay so then the motion will be subject to the correction >> correct >> okay thank you Dr. At this time, do we have a motion? >> I make a motion that we uh approve the staffing allocation. U pending correction on the prek. >> Thank you. We have a motion by Mrs. Gro >> and I'll second >>
115and a second by Mr. Aiano. Is there any more discussion? >> Mr. Adio. >> I. >> Mrs. I. >> Mr. Pña. >> Hi. >> Mr. Reeves. >> Hi. myself. I motion passes. AF, consideration of possible action to approve the award of RF number 26, staff three for interior painting services for science elementary to prime maintenance and construction proposal amount in the amount of $238,363.9. And so, as you all know, we have a plan where we are going to be painting all the schools on a rotation basis. And so, the school most in need is Science Elementary. So, they're the first ones on the list. We opened up the R&P on April the 9th. We closed it May 11th. We did have four companies the facilities on multiple days. And uh at the end we had
116one bid come in and that was from prime maintenance and construction for that amount. I know that you know uh I've been asked on the price and we did go back uh and call um prior maintenance as far as you know could they reduce it uh any amount being that the permits maybe were not really needed because they're not going to be breaking down walls etc. and they did say this was their best offer. I think somebody uh from Prime is here if there's any questions for Mr. Cruz. >> Just on the timeline, uh I it was rated it was graded low. So I'm just curious, is it going to will it be done before school? >> Yes, sir. Yes, sir. So, what I based this was off of eight weeks and or six weeks
117I believe it's eight weeks and I scheduled on uh what I turned into guys. So, it's we're going to try to tackle 10 classrooms per week and then we're going to tackle the library and then the gymnasium and of course administration. So, I think I gave myself two weeks for corridor. I do believe it's an 8week process. And on the miscellaneous, not only just on fees, uh I was given direction that the staff was going to be um very tight over the summer with with the projects stadium and other projects you have throughout the district. So, there's a lot of furniture. Uh the library was one of one of the bigger items. Uh there's a lot of books, shelves, things that we have to get away from the wall. uh that has to allow us
118to get in there and and perform our work. And then of course in the classrooms there's teachers furniturees and desk and I think it's like bookshelves and things of that nature that we have to move. And in the gymnasium we have to drop uh plywood to get the skin in there to paint the beams and walls in there because cannot damage floors. So there was a little of cost and I put in the line items of overhead and fees because those were the miscellaneous stuff that we're going to endure and the extra stuff we have to work. So that that was the purpose for that to have extra staff to to perform the work at the 8week mark. >> We don't have anything summer school there. >> No, that's why we deliberately have summer school
119all at Dubose. Yes. >> So I have a question Mr. cruise and thank you for being here and being patient through the whole thing. >> Oh, no. No worries. >> You say that it's $2.40 per square foot. >> Yes, sir. >> But you don't indicate what the total square footage is that you're painting. What is that number? >> The total square footage I believe is 1,00 100,000 square feet. So that's all your corridors, classroom, gymnasium, administration, everything that has been measured. We I came up to an estimation about 100,000 square feet. >> So I know that the high school is about 100,000 square feet. >> Yes, sir. >> So are you saying that science elementary is the same size? >> Yes, sir. When it comes to area Yes, sir. Um the classrooms generally throughout uh
120Texas, you know, most classrooms are always going to be between like 28 to 32 uh in size. It could be 30 by 32, it could be 30 by 28. And so they usually get about,00 square feet per room. And then of course your corridors, you know, those are your long numbers that give you uh plenty foot times the height. So that also gives you another one. And administration officer is another one that >> it's kind of a hint, but it does have this uh does have a square footage in there. So, okay, >> we do our take off on a on exact date on our program and so we're able to trace it and make sure that the square footage. >> Do you have those drawings available for us? >> Okay. And number two is
121in the library, are you going to remove all the books? >> Yes, sir. So, in order to move those shelves, unfortunately, they're they're fastened to the wall, so they've got screws on them. So, we have to lighten the load and then kind of remove them and then we're going to move the show the bookshelf. So, I did speak to librarian >> um and I told her that >> we prefer for her to mark the bookings because, you know, u most painters aren't very smart to put things in in order, right? We're going to just put them in piles. And so when we go to put them back, we not we might not put them back in the right place. So she told she could probably like color code and tell us, okay, this area put
122this section and so forth because uh we got to get behind the shelves. >> So you move the sh you move the books, you move the shelves and then you paint the walls. Is that what you're >> Yes, is all the shelves that you have in the library, they're they're floating shelves, so they're not um permanent there. I mean, I know they you put in the books, they stay there, but in the event that you move around the place in in in future to bring in new books or do away with books and you remove those shelves, then you're going to have pain surfaces. >> Okay. So, then uh you you're how many classrooms total? >> There's over 40. I think there was 15 or something like that. 16, I think. So it's classrooms, corridors,
123I am assuming bathrooms. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Yeah. And gymnasium. >> Yes, sir. >> Library, but not not kitchen area or anything like that. >> Oh, they excluded the the the kitchen area. Um there was another contractor and there's a warranty deal on that. >> Okay. >> And so I was told not to do that, but in previous we had done the kitchen back part. So that had been painted by us some years ago through another program, but the actual sitting area was not done by us. It was done by someone out of the valley. And so there was issues with the paint peeling. And so uh I was directed not to work in those areas. >> Okay. And this is going to be two coats primer and then the the >> Yes, sir.
124So the unique thing about my system, uh uh I specialize in coatings. So what they've done in the past is is a lot the average person thinks pain is paint but it doesn't work that way and so the hightra areas kind of your corridors where most of your traffic because you're touching the walls people you're bringing in furniture etc etc the walls we specifically choose a a cataly pre-c catalyzed epoxy. So an epoxy is a a higher grade of paint. It's a It's a two-part, so it gives you uh durability. It lasts long. Uh the the vivid colors last longer. Uh you can use any kind of u clean material for your walls. You're not going to damage the wall. Right now, the what I saw on the walls, the troubled areas were paint that
125was less quality and they've used detergents and so they kind of made these big splotches on the walls and so you just can't match that. So, the same coating I showed Mr. Josea that we use in the kitchen is the same coating we're going to use in the corridors. So, that's that's going to give you many many years of of of protection. And in the classroom, we chose to go with a primer because some of the areas were painted with a different kind of paint where it's uh its integrity is not so good. You know, it's kind of scratchy. Uh it peels a little bit. So, I'm going to scuff the walls, repaint with primer, and then I'm going to go with a 200 system. So, it's a higher grade commercial paint. It's going to
126give you durability for a long time. >> And you're a 10-man crew, right? So, that gives you Yeah. >> Um, that's the paint crew. That is not the crew that's going to be moving furniture. Uh, the furniture is going to be depending on um uh uh they're going to be moving areas for us to work in. And as the painters run through, they my movers will come back, put things back. Yes. >> This way it gives time for staff or teachers when they come back. If I'm finished with one section, one area, um, they can come back and they want to start putting their things back in the in the classroom. No tape on the walls or no staples, but everything else putting back in the classroom. I mean, they'll be able to do that.
127They don't have to wait till the till the eighth week when I'm done to come back and get their their classroom straightened out. >> U, when can you get us the the drawings? because I'd like to have this as a like have it in here as well just to make sure that we're right on the square footage. >> Yes, sir. Yes, sir. >> I can have that for you tomorrow. It's a program. We just got to spit it out. >> Okay. >> And just Mr. Cruz, again, thank you for being here. The majority the materials and the equipment that's a big bulk of the bid. Is that correct? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Okay. And since we're you're spending a lot on primers, paint, the materials and equipment to do this, have you gone and made
128sure that we're painting the right colors? It's all going to be uniform colors because in your discussion with Mr. Peno, you've mentioned to the board that some sections of the school were painted at different times by different contractors. So, is this going to provide the school a uniform look? It's going to be uniform, consistent, and the touchup will match. Everything's going to match. The only thing that we've not decided or or is is the colors on the frames and doors. That's going to be up to the district to decide. >> Miss Traton has plenty of opinions. >> And we wanted to be the right color. We agreed. Thank you so much, Mr. >> And this was the only bid we received. Is that correct? >> Yes, sir. So, when can you get started, Mr. Cruz?
129>> Um, if things work out, um, I could start staffing and I could start on Monday next week. >> I've not walked the premises back. I've not gone back to to see. We've kind of done some of the removal. So, I don't >> The principal is uh has already started that. And so she is uh but she's aware that it is a form a recommendation but yes she has already started >> what like picking stuff off the wall. >> She was pretty confident. >> No no I did tell her that you know >> but she didn't want to waste time if you all approved it. So she did say you know there's no Dr. So long as nobody gets ahead of me and there's not another school that comes before me because hers is the
130most in need. Yes, she's ready to pick colors. That's true. >> I have a question, Dr. Cabino. So you mentioned that this is part of a strategic plan for painting the the campuses. Is it possible when is the next campus going to be painted? And is it possible to possibly do maybe the next time two campuses that way we could get maybe more competitive bid or have more interest >> and I would love that but it needs to be in the budget right for two schools would be twice as much so we know that the next school is whams and the reason we do it in the summer is because then they would have six to eight weeks to get it done otherwise we'd be doing it in sections as well I would love to
131do two but we would just need to budget for going to be >> and also probably the scope of the work it it's I mean it's a big school right so >> William the work there before in in sections William Adams it's a lot bigger um there were some areas where they had a lot of tile uh we had done some work before removal before but there's been a you know I think we did that school I don't know I think it was probably about eight years been something like that or a little longer Right. >> But I mean it just the scope it's a big project. So you're I mean >> I mean big pay company companies you get out of your painting right >> the scope of the work's big. It's a big
132project. So as far as people painting you're not going to get >> you know 10 bids on it or something like that to come out. Right. >> Right. or you will. No. >> Well, I mean it all depends on I mean the people did come out uh to bid on this particular project and for whatever reason then submit the the bid. I know that there was some talk that you know >> it is a big project and a timeline. >> No. >> And uh they didn't want to commit something and not come >> be able to produce they wanted those kids to be in there, you know, with a fully painted uh school. you know, they didn't want to mess with the timeline. >> And realistically, Dr. Dino, our school should be repainted how often?
133>> So, I mean, the the think like every seven to 10. >> Yeah. >> Seven to 10 years. >> Depending on the >> because I'm going to I'm going to say it, right? There are some rooms that, you know, have been painted, >> you know, within a couple of years and it it just looks like uh it's been the seven or 10 years. And so it it's all on the the uh been able to take care of that particular the the school I guess in general, right? Just being able to take care of it and monitor it and it's it's tough, but the paint application has a lot to do with it too. the quality of the paint. Like I did see the paint inside the >> uh the kitchen area, that epoxy paint that
134he was talking about. It was kind of like a vinyl coating. Like it just looked durable to where you could just get something and wipe it down as opposed to >> just a primer paint or just a >> Right. And that's why I mentioned to Mr. Cruz, I was looking at the breakdown. We're spending a lot of money on paint. So we're purchasing a higher quality product. >> Yes, sir. Okay. >> Yes. >> And what was the last time science was painted? >> 200. Well, they were built. >> Okay. Well, thank you. >> I have a question. Um, so are we the rotation of schools is based on like a need or I mean or is it like >> the last time they got painted? >> Because I know that some of these campuses have
135had like new wings built and things like that. So >> basically the need uh like I said the new wing the 600 at >> which is >> right >> it needs it >> but it's also younger kids too there right probably >> yes that's what they >> look like been 20 years >> thank you so much Mr. Is there any more questions or discussion at this time? >> Prior to moving, I just ask that uh that Mr. Cruz submit that that drawing. That would be perfect. Thank you. And maybe by Friday of this week. Oh, wait. Closed >> by Thursday of this week. We'd appre and that way we can have that in our files for the next painting project that comes up and we can compare. >> Yes, sir. >> Perfect. At this time,
136do we have a motion? >> I'll make a motion that uh we approve 8F consideration action to approve the award of RFT26-03 for interior painting services for science elementary to prime maintenance and construction proposal in the amount of $238,363.91 91 as the only bidder for the project. >> Thank you. Do we have a motion by Mr. Ben? Is there a second? Second by question. >> Mr. >> Hi, >> Mrs. G. >> Hi, >> Mr. Ben. >> Hi, >> Mr. Reed. >> Hi, >> myself. >> Hi. >> Motion passes. Congratulations to Science Elementary School. Go to 8G. consideration of possible action to approve the 2026 2027 cost sharing agreement between ALSD and the education for two employment partners each for continuation of the postsecary success program for the AHS students. >> Thank you. Um this evening
137we have Stephanie Dawson with the education to employment partner and uh she'd like to share a little bit about what they do. Um we are proposing to approve this or for you all to approve it right to have two advisors dedicated to assist Alice High School seniors in particularly in particular that they actually help all kids with PSI. So we're able to and not only that the help of CCFR uh advising monitoring college prep it would cost the district 64,900 but we would get two people to advise the students and and really the entire cost is 110,000 the district would be responsible for 59% and this grant that these ladies work with would fund the other 41%. So we have found a lot of success with this program. I don't want to steal her thunder,
138keep going, but our students obviously have succeeded with CCMR. They're taking their TSI. They're getting into postsecary schools, and they've been very instrumental in that. >> Correct. Thank you. Thank you, Dr. Trevvinho. Thank you, board president, members, and thank y'all for staying so late to hear our presentation. Um, so we'll just get started. One of the things that we do and we're very proud of is we help the students go on their college and technical tours. So this year many students went to um TMU CC, TMU Kingsville, Coastal Bin College, Craft Training Center, Texas State Technical College. And just to kind of give you some information um there are about 83.33% or approximately 278 seniors who have identified as college as part of their post-secary pathway. That says a lot about the Alice ISD students.
139They are really driven to go to college. Um about 3.26% of the students are actually segmented military. So just to let y'all know and part of this program is we actually pay in support for the college and technical tours. So about $3,000 of the programming that we provide goes towards the college campus tours. So we do provide that funding. On the next slide, we actually support the college workforce segmented students. So, our advisors support the students in building their resumes. They help support them on mock interviews. They actually help support them for application submissions and then they actually help them with employer research. They actually help them go on industry tours. They bring in guest speakers. They do a lot of that. Um here in Alice there was only actually 3.26% of your students who
140actually segmented directly to workforce. So a very small percentage of your students are really looking at just going directly from school into the workforce. But we still support those students. Also another part of our advising program that we support is our adviserss work during the summer. So all of the students that are looking to go to college or go into the workforce or certification programs, our adviserss are still working with those students on any barriers or situations that those students might come across that inhibit them from getting into college. So we have students that their scholarships isn't coming through or they don't know how to secure that. They are actually reaching out to their adviserss currently and their advisors are working through to help support them. Part of the program that we support actually provides
141about $1,500 to support the workforce students. Also, if students need any support in securing um equipment or uh they need work boots, we can actually put them in touch with anyone that can help them secure those items. So we support them in all areas on their post-secary um driven success. So there's nothing that can get in their way. The next is our student and parent engagement. We do a large part with the FASA events, decision day, college fairs, and career fairs. So, a huge part of what we do or the adviserss do is about $3,300 towards that in their fast events that they put on. They do them during the day and in the evenings to help parents and students secure that piece and that's a large part of what the students need and able
142to secure the funds to go to college. So, they put a large part of what they do towards that. They are always working on helping students and parents. So, and then I don't know if y'all are able to attend the decision day, but students did a great job and it shows one of them being interviewed on how the decision day went. Student incentives is another piece. Um, the adviserss give out laptops, printers, earbuds, speakers. Oh my. So when students complete their FASA or and they also complete their applications to college, the students are put into a drawing and then they are provided the laptops, printers and earbuds or speakers. Lots of different um things that they can receive to encourage them. Our biggest thing is we don't want students to do an opt out because
143to us an opt out means that they're opting out of their opportunities. A lot of students and parents feel like they're they don't have this opportunity to go to college. They don't think that's for them. But we want them to see that there's funds that are available and that they can get accepted to community colleges or these different programs and we want them to understand there are these opportunities. Please don't give up and we will help you see that it's available to everybody. That's again another thing that we provide through our program and that's about $8,500 that we provide. So we feel like the financial benefit of the partnership or return on investment is about $130,000. And so what we want the um the school district to support is in the area of salaries for
144the advisors. And so the other part is what we provide and support. I just wanted to put this up here. It's just our advisors kind of do a story. Um, one of our adviserss kind of wanted to do a Hub City hustle. They wanted to highlight the whole um, graduating class. I kind of have them usually look at um, just a celebration of one student. Um, this advisor wanted to celebrate the whole class. So, she said just the halls of Alice High School are buzzing with an energy that's nothing short of a hub city hustle. This year's seniors aren't just finishing strong. They are launching into their future with a level of grit and enthusiasm that is truly inspiring. College mound and coyote proud decision day was a master class and school spirit. It was
145incredible to see so many students eager to step up and represent their future colleges and universities. From the classic Texas powerhouses to out of state institutions, the class of 2026 showed up in full force, proudly dawning their new colors and proving that Alice produces worldclass scholarships ready to take on the next academic frontier. The work first warriors, but the ambition doesn't stop in the classroom. Our workforce found students are making serious waves in their post-secary planning. They've been locked in meticulous refining their resumes, hitting submit on job applications and securing position that bridge the gap between high school and a successful career. Their dedication to entering the professional world with a day one readiness is a testament to their maturity and work ethic. The bottom line, whether they are heading to a university campus or
146straight into the heart of the industry, the students at Alice High School are proving that they are prepared, passionate, and ready to lead. Give yourselves a pat on the back, coyotes. The future looks bright because you're in it. And that's true. All of the coyotes are amazing, no matter which direction they're going. Another advisor wanted to talk about a particular student who was navigating an expected financial challenge. This adviser was helping him reach his goal. Initially, he was committed to attending TMU Victoria for video game design. He spent so much of his time preparing for that path. however unexpectedly um lost their job in the family financial burdens attending the four-year school. Major concern really thought wasn't going to get to go but had the advisor really looking at alternative options that allowed him to
147work towards his end goal of video game design while keeping that financial strain to a minimum. Together they were able to develop this alternative plan. he was still able to go and attend Coastal Van College where they have an amazing video game design program, complete some prerequisite courses before transferring to a university in the future. In addition, they helped him prepare for that TSI exam, which we all know is pretty tough, and was able to apply, was successful, received a last dollar scholarship program that the advisor helped him receive. covered tuition cost and his plan changed. He's now strong, affordable plan in place, kept him moving towards his educational and career goals. So that's what an advisor was able to do. For a student that really kind of saw and felt this barrier that would
148have just made him stop at that point and he wouldn't have received it. This last one, a student actually wrote this. I wanted to put this in. is the last slide for us but I wanted you to see um this one student wanted to share her gratitude to the adviser for assisting her with her college application. She came here as an exchange student and currently enrolled as a senior at Alice High School. Her experience has been incredible and the quality of education was inspiring to her to continue to pursue her higher education in the state. So she's staying. That's exciting and you could see that from all of the presentations I saw today. She reached out to her college advisor for some information regarding the application process and realized that the early application deadline for
149the school that she wanted to attend, which was in Houston, University of Houston, was a week away. Although she panicked, her adviser was there to calm her down completely and immediately began to contact the registration office to confirm that deadline. Turned out that it had two weeks to submit because the adviser helped her realize that. After reviewing the essay, contacted the office of admissions again to make sure that they had received it. After completing the first application, started applying to other universities, including UT Dallas, UT Austin, Texas&M San Antonio, and Texas State University. Helped her do some research on those schools and advised on choosing the best fit school. Although it was a stressful decision, helped her gather some much needed information to make the right choice. Not only did he assist her with the
150college application, also provided insight and guidance to help adjust to life here in the US at Premier for College. Um, Mr. Rodriguez was her adviser. She felt comfortable sharing worries and concerns and he consistently responded with thoughtful and constructive guidance. He was dedicated, patient, and committed to helping her succeed. and it was highly and is a highly respected adviser. His support not only ease the stress of the college application process but also gave her the confidence and ability to pursue higher education in the United States. She's extremely grateful for his time, effort and genuine care for her future and highly recommends him to any student seeking the guidance and support in her future in in their academic endeavors. So, just want to share a little bit about what the advisors do, how much time they
151take, and just what they mean to these students and kind of how they help them get to that next level. The last slide, I thought that was the last slide, but you know, there always is numbers and data. So, just kind of wanted to share they do do one-on-one meetings in the fall and in the spring. So, it was at 100% um in May. they met with 100% of the students. Um, FASTA completion was at 84.5, which when you look at state data, I think that's at 70%. Um, federal data is about 50%. So, you're way above state and federal FASA completion. 100% of your students have created a postsecondary plan. In other words, they know exactly where they're going and how to get there. and then the adviserss will help them complete that financial
152plan created. They know how they're going to pay for it and what they need to do. If they're workforce students, they know what stackable credentials look like and they know what a livable wage would look like and how they can achieve that. 97.5% of your students have completed an application and submitted. They have completed that to 100% by the time um everything is completed. So the 97.5 is there, but your workforce students were finishing up their applications. We actually get them um connected to workforce solutions at the coastal bin to make sure that they understand how to go about completing applications. Standardized testing attempted, that is just a lower number. It's just that they hadn't gotten all the information inputed. And resume mock interviews is higher. um it's at 16.7 but that 16.7 is over
153all the students. So remember 3.7 5% was the workforce students. So they were above the number in all students. 100% of your military students met with a military recruiter and 100% of your students had a career exposure. So that was the last slide. Thank you. >> Yes, ma'am. Do y'all have any questions for me? >> How long have y'all been at? >> We have been here five years. >> Yes. This is our executive director, Ann Black. I'm sorry. I meant to introduce her earlier, but >> Five years. Excellent. Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> And and the advisors, they're there all day, every day. all day, every day. >> They can go up need it if they have any questions. >> Correct. Yes, sir. They have their own space. Um they help support with TSI. They've
154been doing a great job. >> Thank you so much. >> Absolutely. Thank you. >> At this time, do we have a motion? I make a motion that we approve the 2627 cost sharing agreement between Alice ISD and the education to employment partners D to E for the continuation of the postsecondary success program for Alice High School seniors. >> Thank you Mrs. Ghetto. We have a motion by Mrs. G. Is there a second? >> I'll second. >> A second by Mr. Bennett. Any further discussion? >> Mr. Aiano. >> Hi. >> Mrs. G. >> Hi. >> Mr. P. >> Hi. >> Mr. Rick. Myself. I motion passes 8H consideration of possible action to add a relatives to DK local. Excuse me. So recently, I don't know if you all heard in the news, but there's been a
155lot of controversy and investigations between um TA and districts all because possibly there's been conflicts of interest between the supervisor and a family member. When the when a supervisor is supervising a family member, sometimes perhaps investigations are not thoroughly investigated. uh because there is a conflict and so uh it was brought to our attention that we may consider adding an assignment of relatives to this particular policy. So by adding this we would be saying that no no employee shall be assigned to a campus or department where any member of his or her family is in a direct line of supervision. For purposes of this policy, immediate family shall include a parent, a child, sibling, spouse, and the spouse of the employees parent child or sibling. Reassignment shall also be limited by this policy. So all
156to say that if you all approve this policy, we need to ensure that no supervisor is supervising a mother, a father, a child, a brother or sister. Okay. At this time, do we have a motion? >> I have a question. So, like in an application, I know they ask you, are you related to a board member, but do they ask you that question? Do you have I don't think it's asked, right? >> I think it does ask if you're related to anybody in the district. >> Okay, it does. Okay. I just didn't know. I know sometimes they ask about like board members, but I didn't know if it asked. So, it does ask. Okay, that's good to know. >> Even if it doesn't, you can always add that to your application question. That's not a
157big deal. >> I have a question, Dr. Theino. So this language is in line with what TASBY is recommending. We're following the TASBY guidelines for this language and the change of policy. So we're being proactive because it is getting to the point where it may not be a choice. We just want to be proactive because we want to ensure that we're not putting ourselves or employees in that situation. >> Okay. And going along with that, is this something that other districts throughout the state are doing? >> Yes. When we called TASBY to uh, you know, draft the policy for us, they already had it written because others are already uh looking into it and it's in the pipeline. I don't know if you want to add anything. >> Yeah. So, the way TASBY's policies work,
158you have a legal and a local. A legal are standardized across all school districts in the state. A local can be customized based on whatever it is that the district is wanting to customize. There are districts that have had this in policy for a long time now already, at least 10 years. Um, so it's not un unheard of or unusual. >> Basically, we're doing it to be proactive to protect ourselves and >> and our employees, right? >> Okay. and also ensure fairness and transparency if there's an investigation. >> Absolutely. Or an evaluation or any of those types of things, right? I mean, it it avoids the question of was there Yeah. bias, favoritism, any of that. >> Thank you, Mr. Dr. Is there any other discussion at this time? Do we have a motion? I
159make a motion that we um approve um the assignment of relatives to DK locals. >> Thank you. We have a motion by Mrs. G. Is there a second? >> I'll second. >> A second by Mr. Adio. Is there any further discussion? >> Mr. Aiano. >> I. >> Mrs. Gh. >> Mr. Pñena. >> Hi. >> Mr. Reeves. >> I. >> Myself. I motion passes.
