009covet because of everything that has been going on but really grateful appreciative of everybody that has put in the time that has been very patient the teachers and everybody that has allowed him to serve them and really encourage everybody to apply for those positions because at this time is when we need that talent that a lot of people might have and maybe it's not being utilized at this time ah let's see anything else that you would like me to say besides that that that sounds like it covers it okay okay thank you so much appreciate you being here thank you okay thank you very much for your comments and we have no one else since my understanding okay so moving along um next item your agenda is our policies we have several policies up for
010first year yeah we have uh four colleges of paris uh with maria and michelle coming in um a lot of these were some cleanup transportation it was forged by the policy committee it really is around our students if they happen to have an infant child that they can be transported on our buses um following their correct procedures of the uh talentee and all of those aspects so that that has been added into our policy for our first read and then the the next three are a lot of cleanup work within the policies themselves um just quite honestly working from the legal status and operation it was two words i believe that were changed if the board remembers uh there was a a law firm he sent us an email regarding one of our policies and
011that we made a smart adjustment to it to reflect the new law um the federal and state uh special instructional programs again really cleaning up the language uh but nothing substantial changes with itself on the first day of the reigning [Music] all right all been provided to the board um and then we will be uh staff and thanks again [Music] um in the next three days okay so next we have a very short agenda tonight i am showing that we are already divorcing is there any are there any board members that wish to share uh any other items with the rest of the board michelle so i have a a modified legislative update last week there was let's know the legislation update because here the national school board association conference was last week so they
012did not have the lunch update the previous week they gave some updates on bills a lot of those deadlines for april 11 which has already passed um however just to let you know the end of session for the legislature is scheduled for april 25th that doesn't mean they will end them but that is their scheduled end um and just uh i think i had mentioned at one of the last meetings that ospi had applied for waiver to um to [Music] have a modified testing right and currently ospi is still waiting um for the status of that believer um to be approved so whether it will be or not we haven't been given really a firm idea but um but it would just sample the students who would need to be tested rather than all other
013than the typical grade levels everyone needed to be tested in the states so we are still leading the result of that um that we will request in this approval and then um just to put on your radar these were mentioned also one that has an equity conference may 18th and 19th i would encourage everybody in the board and superintendent cabinet this is a great conference it will be online of course and i believe it is two half days so it's usually a full day in may but this year it's too happy so check the website it's may 18th and 19th you want to put that on your calendars now and uh i i i'm not sure what the fees are but they're usually pretty pretty minor and then um additionally we have regional meetings our
014regional meeting is april 21st for d.a area seven and um the time is really six seven thirty that is a free meeting again online six to seven thirty on april 21st so please put that on calendars and attend if you are able thank you thank you and i just wanna thank ron and ultratech folks because i know this was a big um stretch to do something new tonight for us having an in-person meeting as well as the streaming so thank you ron and all of our technology people thank you board members if you want to attend that conference just send an email to tim and myself and we will get you registered for that if you want that [Music] any other board members with communications to share i just kind of want to bounce off
015um a little bit on foot um from the comments or sentence comments um you know we have this most our elementary school openings and um you know i think this is this was a great um announcement from our community member that we need our community to really you know look at all the postings not just the principles we have a lot of posting and it's an opportunity to bring in that diversity up to our community but also to our district um so you know i encourage our cabinet team our superintendent to continue that um that dei work in regards to admiring to them so that our community can refurbish method in our school administration and our teachers um just as much as our student population is so you know i'm going to continue to push
016for that um you know making we're chipping away um but we still got a lot of work to do as a district um which leads me to michelle's on the conference equity conference in the email we got earlier today awesome yeah um there's a couple other events coming up later this year and of their focus on equity that would have racial equity um and it's actually i mean it's really high opening that there's the state is putting forward all these um equity racial conferences ceo work um so i feel like we as a district we are the board need to incorporate that into our practices um i've asked in prior uh conversations with paul that our board needs to ei training um our administration our cabinet we need to start those conversations as uncomfortable as
017they are for us um i think we will be in a better place once he's engaged in those conversations so i'm going to push for the district hopefully we can coordinate um you know some di training starting for the work at the board level and then triple that back down to our cabinet thank you maria anyone else okay also china i think that's a great idea i think we've some of us have already have had those conversations right and faults probably yeah we've heard those that kind of have a good time so uh i know with code eddie it kind of has uh slowed it down in some ways but i am glad to see that we're kind of hitting the ground running again and uh and i would love for the board to get
018some vr ddi worked out thank you right sure i wasn't going to say anything but in terms [Music] meets four times a year that has a variety of good work it's actually dominated by parents and students either it has representatives and teachers of various kinds we this student already had one member on that committee creator our minded recruiter is sort of represented on that and so i want to stress that this district is already active and the leader of this field and i don't know how it happened that i got invited to be a board representative on friday so i am very surprised and delighted i'll also be part of that and we'll be learning and hopefully do some good that's great martin congratulations on your nomination to that community yeah you could be a
019good person to serve in that role all right so we have superintendent's report thank you um i 100 agree with um public comments maria we have 100 openings posted we are doing as much advertising as we've ever done in our district for conditions from there there's almost every position we have available for for roles so we highly encourage people to to check our website look at the roles and responsibilities under each one of those and put your name in the hat we have tons of summer companies too we have already 400 students who signed up for our summer school opportunities so we're gonna need teachers support staff we need people in our district in our community even outside of our community to be um applying for all of these positions so and yes to our
020community to our board members we highly encourage our community to apply for these really important positions that that make a difference in our kids lives um the other piece i would is just as a reminder tomorrow our elementary schools our k5 schools will be remote only starting wednesday thursday and friday as our schools prepare to bring back our elementary students on monday uh april 19th for full-time in-person instruction we're excited to welcome all of our elementary students back uh on monday uh but these next three days for our elementary staff is all in preparation for next monday so again parents tomorrow our schools have done an outstanding job the district has done a nice job of communicating it out but just one more reminder that the next three days are remote learning days for us
