Second. Second the nomination. I I politely decline. I appreciate your guys' s gesture, but I don't think it's in the best interest for myself at this time to take the president role. Um, then we've got our monthly donation from the Community Supporting Teachers group. So, who's our big winner? This month's winner for the Community Supporting Teachers donation is Macy Bentley. She has won a gift certificate for Border Cantina donated by Greg Daniels of Amery. Thank you, Greg. Congratulations. Excellent. Thank you. Thank you. The Border. Thank you. All right. Now, we will move on to our public comment session. Do we have anyone that's going to be making comment tonight? Come on up and state your name. Okay. I've got to read through this real quick. The board has opted to have a public comment period at this school board meeting. Each commenter is limited to a maximum
of three minutes for the commenters' remarks. The period shall be limited to 10 individual speakers or extended for 30 actual minutes, whichever limitation permits the greater total number of speakers. Each commenter shall identify their name, place of residence, and whether they have students currently enrolled in or is a staff person for the district. Comments must be directed solely to the board and or its designees and must not address other members of the audience during this part of the meeting. The board, during the public comment period, will not discuss the agenda items raised by the public commenter, but may discuss such agenda items at the conclusion of the public comment. All individuals who comment during this public comment period are reminded that the information provided this evening is intended to provide information to the board so
that it can fulfill its role. In receiving public comment, the board encourages the commenter to engage in civil discourse course that models character and ethical behaviors. Uh, in that vein, all parties are reminded that information offered should be truthful and honest, and false statements uh, or stigmatizing charges may subject the individual making such comments to legal repercussions, including but not limited to defamation claims. Other specific procedures for public comment period not mentioned here can be found on board policies. Thank you for listening to that. My name is Donna Chader. I live in Daniels Township. I do not have any children here in Siren employed. Thank you. And I apologize for the hot tea, but it's for you to have tea. Yes. >> [laughter] >> So, tonight is a big night. We're looking at a slight
change in the board, several new members. First of all, I want to thank each and every one of you for serving on the board. You have a tough job and often a thankless job. I commend you for your willingness to step up to the plate. I also challenge you to put your heads together and come up with a very concrete plan of action. I believe that the failure of the referendum was a message loud and clear. And then, if it is passed on the road, the public needs to see that there is a viable plan. They need to trust the people who serve, and they need to trust the process. This school has always been a huge part of my life. My dad attended and only went through eighth grade. My four siblings and I
received our education here, as did my three children. In addition, I taught here for over 30 years and subbed for 17 after that. I was here long enough to be a part of Mountain Top experiences when other schools came to us to learn about our innovative programs, and we were highly respected. We were trendsetters with some very impressive ideas. I also was here for times when there was conflict, chaos, and concern for what was happening, but we survived. It is important to learn from mistakes and go forward in a positive way. It's been done in the past. I'm confident it can be done again in the future. I used to tell my students that we all make mistakes, but the important thing is that we learn from them and do differently. We learn and we
do better. I would also ask my students at the end of the unit, "What's the most important thing that you learned from this?" Wherever it Wherever it applies, you could ask the same question. I know it's a cliché that the school is the center of the community, but it's true. Arlene Tobias fought for our beautiful state-of-the-art auditorium, and the public funded it. Taxpayers have seen the rationale for improvements, construction, and new programs. They have supported our school and our students because of their confidence in the people who are in charge and their belief in the value of education and having a school in the Siren community. So again, I commend you for your willingness to serve. You I support you, and I challenge you to go into the future with purpose and a plan. I
believe that our kids deserve this. Okay. Hi. My name is Sarah Benson. I'm here with my husband, Ryan. We have two children who attend the schools. We did not know if we could make it tonight, so we did submit a letter. I am going to try my best to read this letter. My husband will have to come up with my comments for tonight. But because we submitted a letter, there were key elements that we did leave out because we wanted to make it as concise as possible. Okay. And we do have a typo in the letter. I apologize. The date we had wrong, but Dear administration and Siren School Board Directors, unfortunately, the last two school board meetings have not had any time for public comment on the agenda, and we are unsure at this
time if one of us is able to attend the April 27th board meeting. Therefore, we have decided to submit this letter in lieu of appearing in person. First of all, we would like to thank you for your service to the Siren School District. We recognize this is a difficult and uncertain time for everyone, and that a lot of hours are being devoted to the school district and for planning for the future. As background for those who are unfamiliar with our family, we have two daughters who attend Siren schools. Our daughter, Annabelle, is in the 10th grade. And our daughter, Alex, is in the eighth grade. Um, when Annabelle first began here at Siren School, we did live in the Siren School District. Uh, we since built a house uh, in the town of Sand Lake,
which is in the Webster School District. Uh, but we have continued to open enroll our kids here for the last 10 years. Uh, I grew up here at the Siren School District. Uh, I have teachers who are here and in the back here as well. Uh, and so, you know, it was important for us to have our kids go here to the Siren School District. Uh, it's also important to note that we definitely take academics seriously, and while academics should and always will remain our primary concern, uh, we also support our children in pursuing their passions, which for them is athletics. Alex Excuse me. Annabelle's in volleyball and track. Alex is in volleyball, basketball, and track. Uh, about a month ago we attended the first referendum meeting. During that meeting we asked whether any action
had been taken to approach other schools about co-ops. Uh, we were surprised to learn that there'd only been some informal meetings. Uh, and now at this point I think the issue is most of the girls athletic teams at Siren High School are pretty much done at this point. Uh, we're down to six girls in track. I don't even know if there'll be a basketball team next year. And volleyball, uh, based on what I've heard of people leaving, I don't even know if there's going to be a viable volleyball team next year. Um, so I think one of the things we're worried about here is are girls going to be able to pursue their athletic passions as well if we are to stay here? Um, and I think uh, one of the main things we are
concerned about is that the first meeting after the failed referendum, uh, we found out that the school was actually in a worse position than what had been disclosed. Uh, at that meeting, uh, Tom Porter disclosed that we are now looking at a $1.6 million deficit for next year. Um, and if the referendum doesn't pass, if the board decides to do that next November, it sounds like the school is not even viable at that point. Uh, so then the question is what are we supposed to do for our sophomores and juniors here, uh, at Siren School? Uh, they're caught in a lose-lose proposition here, okay? If they stay, are they even going to be able to graduate here, say the sophomores? If they go and they're in athletics, uh, WIAA might just tell them they can't
play next year. So it's a very difficult situation. And so I think what we're asking the board to do, uh, is to work with parents, uh, cuz I'm not going to lie, I've heard a lot of people are looking at leaving the school district this coming year. And I've heard rumors that the the the school thinks they're still going to have 70 to some kids. I'm going to tell you it's going to be a lot less than that for the high school based on what I've heard here. Um, and so I don't know if any sports are going to be viable, which is actually going to lead to more kids leaving. And so, uh, we're asking the school the board and the administration to see if they'll work with the WIAA to see if any
kids who are willing who want to move because there's not going to be enough academic or athletic pursuits for them here to see if they can get a waiver to participate in sports at other schools. Um, and I think the other things I don't want I don't know how much time I got here. Uh, I think you'll one of the main issues is like the the class that's going to be seniors, they're 15 or less. The eighth grade class my daughter's in, I think they're down to like 14 kids or something and there's kids leaving and stuff. So they don't even there's not enough kids to make friends or have social interaction with people. So, uh, we're just asking that the board to let the public know what's going on. I think the reason people
are leaving is they're not hearing what is the plan and everything here. So the more notice you can get out to the public, the better chance you're going to save the school. So, thank you. Thank you. All right. And then And then too. All right. Any other public comments? Carol. I I'm Carol Lenz and my husband and I, we live in the town of Siren and we, uh, just graduated our last person from Siren, um, from our class. Um, I just My only comment is, um, I I'm new to these going to these meetings. This is the fourth one that I've ever gone to and I'm having trouble hearing hearing you guys and I'm wondering why there isn't like some sort of system. I'm hearing the the nice new boiler, but, um, it's really hard
to to hear and I can't be the only white-haired lady who has that problem. Um, but thank you all for your job that you do. Thank you. Thank you, Carol. All right. Any other public comment? Okay. We'll go on to our treasurer's report. Um, so the rest of us have seen the treasurer's report already for the month. Um, although some of us are not, but we, uh, will look for a motion to approve the treasurer's report. I'll make that motion. Does Laura have anything? I mean we discussed it last No changes from last week. I'll second. All right. Any discussion on the treasurer's report? Any questions that you guys have? I know it's the first time you're you're looking through it. Okay. No questions? All right. Um, all those in favor? Laura, do you have
any comments on it this time? Sometimes you do. No, of course. Nothing's changed since the call last week. I don't believe. Okay. It's mostly the same stuff. All those in favor? I. >> I. I. All right. That passes. All right. I don't have any correspondence. Um, all right. Superintendent's report. >> So I'm putting in there the last little update I got SAE in regards to the surplus negotiations in regards to the state. Um, you know, they talked about allocating money towards special education for the school district. >> Mhm. Um, I just put it out there for you. You can see that the governor and legislature are trying to We don't know where that's going, but that's just the latest, um, communication that I got. Uh, there was a lot of talk of, you know, donating
back some of that surplus to school districts through special education funding, um, to get to the the 42 to 45% that they originally had promised. Um, so that's still still in limbo. Um, they're still negotiating that. Hopefully something will come back to the district. Uh, that would if we did go to referendum again, that would all set some of that. Do we have a rough idea what that percentage would raise us dollar figure wise? >> no, not not at this point. Um, I can look into that for you cuz there just hasn't been a lot of specifics this year. It just comes off as, "Look, we got the surplus." Yeah. Um, I mean I can do the math for the 42 to 45%. Yeah, just what that 3% difference is and what what we budgeted
for. Okay. Was that a guarantee? No, that's just what they wanted. It was a proposal to use it for. at least 42% and they only gave us 37% when it was all said and done. And then after that there was a state surplus from tax revenue at the state level and then there was talk of giving that back, getting that to the level of What was what they were originally promising. So that's just where that is currently right now and But we may not get it anyway, so it's just Yeah, exactly. Like I said, I just shared the latest We won't know till October, I think. I did, um, you know, when I get these I did reach out to Tucker and he uh, advocated that they please support this for giving money back to
schools and special education support. Mhm. Thank you. That was that was the latest on the surplus negotiations. And then the next one I I don't know if you guys have access to this or have gotten this. I didn't get it. But anyway, I want to share it with you. It's a really, uh, nice tool from the Wisconsin Association of School Boards. It talks about some of the myths and facts. I mean we did some things with the referendum to pick some myths and facts, but they came out with this. This I know there was a lot of high praise from the superintendent group that that read through this and went through this as well. So I just wanted you to have that. And, uh, maybe something we can refer to in the future from when
we go to referendum Uh, so those are the only two items I had this month time. All right. Thank you. All right. Principal reports. Miss Herman. Um, but we have a lot of upcoming events as we start to wrap up the school year. Yes. Crazy that we're at that point. Um, so I just wanted to give a heads up on some things we have going on. Um, May 21st, we have our spring concert, um, which is for the elementary K through five. There'll also be some band performances in there as well. On the 26th, we have Crooked Lake Meadows coming and it's our culmination of the end of the year. Um, we always try to do one big activity for the students and Crooked Lake Meadows is coming to do all kinds of different like
field Olympics type of things, like going to the S Pond and doing scavenger hunts and all those types of things. Um, and then June 2nd we have our pre-K graduation. On June 3rd we have field day, which is always a fan favorite of the kids. And the fourth is our early release and last day. So, a lot of fun stuff coming up. All right. Excellent. Thank you. Miss Kimball. Um, we had a really great prom this past weekend. Had a lot of fun. They danced the night away. Now, can you speak up? Yep, sorry. Um, we had prom this past weekend in town here at the Dancing Eagles Event Center. Um, lots of kids were there. Um, danced the night away, had a good time. Um, so that was very nice to see. We have,
um, our high school and middle school students will be taking part in Earth Day activities on April 30th in the morning, um, which provides community service hours for our high school students. Um, and then on that day in the afternoon, our middle school is going to be having the self-care carnival that's, um, put together with YPBC and our counselor, um, in the building. And then on Friday, May 1st, the high school will be having their self-care carnival that afternoon. Um, Monday, May 4th, we have the middle high school pops concert at 7:00 p.m. And then on Monday, May 11th is the senior awards and recognition night, uh, 7:00 p.m. And then Friday, May 15th is graduation at 7:00 p.m. in the month. Um, Jim, Wednesday, May 20th will be our, um, alternative diploma graduation ceremony,
um, at 5:00 p.m. So, those are upcoming events. Great. Excellent. All right, uh, special education state assessments. >> Yeah, so we are We have a couple of students here that we're finishing up on the, um, Wisconsin state assessments, um, kind of hit and miss with some vacations. We have a couple we need to finish up. Uh, we are winding down the year with current evaluations. We have four new evaluation meetings on the calendar. We have two re-eval meetings on the calendar, and we have two new evals that have just come in within the last few days. Referrals for evals. Um, and then based on the restructuring for next year, we are considering case loads and where we can best support students that need to have those supports. Okay. All right, and that you're looking forward
to next year as well. Perfect. Any questions for anyone? All right, Native American report. On the 16th, it was our 50th annual one. Um, we had a group come in from, um, Bad River and uh, do it a little bit differently than we have in the past, focusing more on the education part of it. And I think it went really well. There was a lot of, um, staff that had positive comments. They really enjoyed it. So, that was nice to see. And then our Title VI grant application is due on the 11th. Um, I just need to finish up the parent committee side of that and then that will be submitted. Um, we just have to talk about what next year's programming looks like. So, I was waiting a little bit so I can hopefully
tell parents, um, up-to-date information. All right. Excellent. And any questions? All right, we're looking to approve the minutes, starting with our regular board meeting from March 23rd. I'll approve the minutes. >> I'll second. March 23rd. And I heard Kelly second that. Uh, any discussion? I have a question. Did we ever follow up on that military grant for the children? The what? Military for military children. Oh, yes, um, I have spoken with DPI. I'm in the process of working through the application process, working through that. So, I'll bring that So, that's not the one that was just announced like today. Uh, It said Grantsburg and Siren Falls were chosen as a military Uh, I don't know that one. Okay. So, it's not the same >> know if it's the same one, I guess. I don't know.
Deadline wasn't due until August 31st. Okay, so that That was the one I was referring to. Yes. Uh, it's due August 31st. Okay. All right, uh, all those in favor of approving the minutes, I. I. All right, those passed. Okay. Then we are moving on to our special board meeting on April 13th. I'll move to approve the minutes from the April 13th special board meeting. I'll second. Kelly will second that. Any discussion? All those in favor, I. I. All right, all passed. Okay, and then the last will be the Committee of the Whole April 20th meeting. I make a motion to approve the April 20th Committee of the Whole meeting. I'll second. And Kelly is seconding that. Any discussion? And all those in favor, say I. I. All right. Excellent. Okay, so then we are
on to our new business. Um, we need to have a couple of board members that are going to be able to attend graduation on the 26th. Or on the 15th. On the 15th or the year 26th. Do we have any volunteers that are able to go? What time is it at? Uh, 7:00 p.m. What would you say is the 15th? The 15th. It's on Friday. It's a Friday, the 15th at 7:00 p.m. I can be there. I would love to. >> both persons will be up on the stage shaking hands. Is that correct? Yes. So, Polly's willing to go. >> as well. And Mindy. She will Kelly, too. So, do you want to three or just want two? Does anyone have I mean, well, last year they didn't love that we had three. Oh. We
made it work though, but it's really up to Does it take up too much room? Okay. It was a little crowded, a little crowded but on that side but We can be friendly. Okay. [laughter] Polly, Mindy, and Kelly, thank you very much for being able to attend graduation. Is this the same for ADP or do we need Yeah, I was going to ask that. We also need those for the alternative day. Okay, and our alternative day, one more time, is 20th. Wednesday, May 20th at 5:00 p.m. May 20th at 5:00 p.m. Anybody able to go to that? I can probably go to that. What is it, 5:00 p.m.? 5:00 p.m. I can do that one, too. Okay. Got Mindy and Jamie. Sure. Okay. All right. Perfect. What time is the 15th? The for the 15th.
>> Friday at 7:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. on the 15th, 5:00 p.m. on the 20th. I can arrive at 6:30. Okay. And 4:30, 4:45. 5:00 for the Do you know how many Can you say how many Two graduating for the alternative program. Okay, that was five, so I'll do Any other questions about graduation? All right, um, bank signature. So, we need to update our, uh, signatures of the signers on our bank account, both with Skyward and with Community Bank. Um, so the president, clerk, and treasurer will take care of putting their signatures on here at the end of the meeting, but I am going to read this resolution that we are going to put in. So, be it resolved that the Board of Education for the School District of Siren hereby appoints the following as signers
for the School District of Siren accounts. And again, that will be the president, myself, the clerk, Corey, and the treasurer, Polly. So, I'm looking for a motion to accept that resolution. I'll make the motion to accept resolution for the bank. I'll second that. Okay, and there's not additional one for Skyward. Okay. Did we have a second on that? Jamie. Jamie. Yep. First by Corey, second by Jamie. All right, all those in favor, I. I. I. Okay, we'll take care of those signatures at the end. Okay, then we're on to our dental renewal. So, again, we rest of us have looked this over at our last COW meeting. So, please let me know if you guys have any questions, um, but we were looking at just an increase of 20 cents per employee, and then we
talked about adding in the special health care needs benefit because there was 0% change to make sure that we offered that. I'll make a motion to accept the dental plan. I'll second that. Somebody did it. >> Polly did it. Kelly seconded that. I think. All right, so we will go ahead and approve for the or sorry, I'll make sure that the motion is clear that it's for the 20 cents increase and then the, um, special needs health care benefit. And again, Corey made that accepted that motion and then Kelly seconded it. All those in favor, I. I. All right. Oh, my paperwork. Do that one. All right, then we're going on to our health insurance renewal and increase. Um, so we had asked to get some more information about what staff would have preferred a
higher deductible or higher monthly fee. Neither is enjoyable. No, most have come back same We can handle Our current plan is the one we have. Current plan. Which is an option. The current plan still includes the 6% increase. Yep. Right. Okay. So, what was the increase? It is 6.9% increase. To the school district, not to the staff, to the school. Yeah. Yes. But that's the high deductible one, is it the No, they don't have the That's the current the same that we currently have. They're all high deductible. All right, so I'm looking for a motion then to go ahead and stay with our current plan with the 6.9% increase. I'll make a motion to stick with the current health insurance. All right, we've got Corey second it by What's the 6.9 on the vote? I'm
sorry to interrupt you. What's the 6.9 on the when we voted? Was that listed on there? That's the amount that was going to increase. That's what it's going to increase for the school side, not for the employee side. All right, did that answer your question? Did that answer it? Yeah, okay. No worries. Okay, um All right, any other discussion on that? All those in favor? I. I. Okay. So that's insurance. CISA 11 business proposal. >> Well, um you know, Laura, since she's leaving, um and we're looking for a notice, I did contact CISA looking for a contract to get us through the remainder of the year and the audit. Um they were originally offering 20 days. I got them down to 18. This is I mean, you know, it's it's an estimate, but yeah, they
they were willing to try and come to 18 and then that would save us but that would be reduced by another $1,400 but it's still about $1,400 increase that we'd be paying for. Um but they are willing to handle the audit. They were in uh they did say our they did say our processes were were good. Um we did respond to the auditors in some of the processes and they thought it might be overkill cuz we had too many things and felt like maybe they could make it a little more efficient like not so many checks um just from an efficiency standpoint but um yeah, I mean they were in. I don't know if you guys Laura if you want to comment on on that. They were They were in last uh Thursday and they
were very complimentary and willing to take us on so and they're coming again. Wednesday and Thursday. How many come part of those 18 days or they're just coming in to get things ready. Okay. Okay. Is it one, two? Um it'll be well, two came okay, but it'll be I think one and they'll maybe alternate. One lives in Milltown so they're closer. One is more a little further away. So I think I don't know but they'll just work out a schedule and typically it'll be one. Is it this Amy or is she just like the overseer at >> Amy's kind of the overseer but she came and Cara is the other one. Cara lives in Milltown. She was a Cara was the uh business manager in Unity for many years and Amy was at uh Baldwin
Is some of the Is some of the maybe the checks Is sorry to interrupt. Is some of the checks and balances going to be different with them because they're outsiders versus the checks and balances we need to do in-house because we have so many staff I I think >> or limited staff doing multiple roles, I should say. But I mean is that kind of cuz you said they said there was things that they could streamline. Yeah, they did. They did say there was things that we could streamline. And >> [clears throat] >> I think in in order to be proactive and please the auditor, we went heavy on the doubles and triple checks on some of the things. They felt like that was not necessary but that's what we're going to do. Yeah, okay. All
right, thank you. All right, so I am looking for a motion to approve the usage of CISA. I'll make the motion. for our remaining We're going to call it the remaining fiscal year. >> Yes. Okay. And for the fiscal year and the audit, okay. So Corey is firsting that and Holly is seconding that. Any discussion? Are we going to look Are we going to look to CISA for future if people Well, that's what I would need the board to after tonight we we can talk about this cuz you know, typically we would post. We can certainly post for the position but I also want to keep CISA on the hook cuz I don't think I don't think there's a lot of people I think there's more positions than people available at this point in time.
That was kind of what I found when I searched so I was curious. >> like also for example some people don't stay in the position very long once they get into it and they find out what it entails if they haven't been in the school system. CISA's willing though. Yeah, CISA's willing and what I was going to try to do is to negotiate with them to a similar wage or similar amounts that we were paying for. I don't know if they're willing to do that or not but that way I was just going to try and talk to them and see if they'd be willing to work with that. >> have till July to work that side of things out of the next year. So we currently do not post for that position. Not till
after we finish tonight. Okay. Okay, all those in favor of hiring CISA for the rest of the fiscal year and the audit? I. I. Okay. Do you have the calendar? Uh I do not have the school calendar in there the one that we were looking at. Did anybody see I mean we saw last week but Nope, that's not That's for our meeting. >> That's our meeting one. We have this. Yeah, but we don't have the school calendar for next year. So can one of you Jamie if you have it pulled up, can you just tell like let us know like the start and some dates for like Amy and Mindy so they know what we're looking at please. Um school starts September 1st with um September 7th being a day off for Labor Day. Um
and then in October we would have and a teacher in-service on the 9th and then um early release parent-teacher conferences on the 22nd. Um Christmas break would be the 24th through January 2nd, December 24th through January 2nd with an early release on the 23rd. Um there is a teacher in-service day again in January and then we have parent-teacher conferences early release February. No school on Friday, Monday of President's Day weekend so the 12th through the 15th. Um spring break is shortened this year so the 24th through the 29th. Um that would be incorporating Easter into that break. And it's like a Wednesday to Tuesday. >> Yeah, it's like a Wednesday to yeah, Wednesday to Monday off and then come back on Tuesdays. Um and that was mostly because um of keeping it to where we're
done at the end of May so we would have had to go into June if we would have extended it. Um and then there is one teacher in-service day in April and then um the last day of school is May 28th and Memorial Day is the 31st so it would be finishing school the Friday with an early release right before Memorial Day. That puts us at 1.1 days over at the middle high school which is where the minutes are are really um important to make sure. So anytime we have a virtual learning day or an e-learning day um you can't count those minutes um but if we have early releases or late starts, those don't count so you want to be at least one full day over just in case we have unexpected early release
or late starts for any reason. Graduation was when? That would be May 14th. So um So two weeks before the 20th. Yeah, two weeks before the 20th. Like it's a normal event. Okay, thanks Jamie. >> We didn't need a waiver to start before Labor Day because of how late Labor Day is. September 1st. September 1st. Okay, perfect. Thank you. Yeah, but Labor Day is really late this year. >> It is, yeah. What was the first day of school? September 1st. September 1st with Labor Day the next Monday off. Thanks, that's a Tuesday. Yeah. >> Yes, that's a Tuesday. Tuesday, September 1st. is the or is the first day of school. I'll make a motion to accept the 2026-2027 school calendar as presented. >> Second that. All right. All right, all those in favor? I. Okay,
new calendar. >> Anybody have I don't know if the anyone knew if they had questions. Uh sorry, I thought we discussed it. Okay, there. Okay, so now we are going to go on. Um we've got resignation of uh middle school baseball assistant coach, Trevor Tech. I'll make a motion to accept the resignation of Trevor Tech as middle school baseball coach. Second that. All those in favor? I. I. Thank you. Kim needs to abstain so it needs to be okay, six to to zero. Did you get that, Laura? Kim needs to abstain. I think Yes, Kim's abstaining from that vote. Um okay. I'll make a motion to accept the resignation of Kathy Coburn as social media coordinator. Second. Okay, all those in favor? I. And thank you, Kathy, for all that you did with the Facebook.
You did a fantastic job. >> Absolutely, thank you. >> resignation of elementary teacher, Natalie Benson. I'll make a motion to accept the resignation of Natalie Benson as elementary teacher. Second. All those in or any discussion? I I be saying that every time. >> [laughter] >> Uh no discussion. All those in favor. I. And thank you Natalie for your work at the elementary school. I'll make a motion to accept the resignation of elementary teacher Katie Flanagan. Second. Okay, any discussion on that? All those in favor. I. I. Thank you >> Thank you Katie very very much. Okay, we have a resignation of teacher Danielle Foreman. I'll make a motion to accept the resignation of elementary teacher Danielle Foreman. Second. Any discussion? All those in favor. I. I'll make a motion to accept the resignation of elementary
teacher Elizabeth Hearts. Second. We thank you staff all of these people for what they've done for Siren. All right, any discussion on Elizabeth Hearts? And all those in favor. I. I. Okay, yes. Thank you very much to all of those teachers and coaches and special teacher positions that people have. Yes, thank you. Okay, we're going to move on to our meeting calendars. Um we do look like we need to make some adjustments due to Memorial Weekend. So our meeting of committee of the whole Um right now is scheduled for May 18th, but if we need to move our regular school board meeting, we're going to need to decide if we go back a week for everything or >> do the 26th? I can't. What day? Mhm. I I can I can do the 26th. Jamie,
you can? I can't. Kelly said she can't, right? I'm counting on how long this is going to be here. I have softball that night, but >> [clears throat] >> we can be out of here by 7:00, I can. >> [laughter] >> Well, 5:00 to 7:00, that's pretty close. Yeah, the regular meetings. Yeah. Doable. Okay, so first then we we would be good then keeping our committee meeting uh committee of the whole meeting then May 18th at 5:00 p.m. That's good. So we got that and then we'll move the Do we need a motion to move the board meeting? We just move it. Okay, perfect. So we'll move the board meeting then to May 26th at 5:00 p.m. Many meetings at the same time, 5:00 p.m. >> both at 5:00 p.m. Yeah, we try to keep
it as consistent as we can, so it doesn't get confusing, but every now and then things change. Okay. All right, so then we are looking to approve our bill. I'll make a motion to approve the bills for March 21st through April 24th. Okay. Do we have a discussion? Yeah, and then do I have a second? I haven't seen them. Kelly said she said Kelly will second that. All right, discussion that we've got. What do we have for questions? I hadn't gotten a chance to go over it, so I'm just quickly going over it and seeing if there's any questions. I'm probably the total for the It was, but somebody No, I guess it only games involved. I thought it was this per game. I on our chaperone for the girls basketball, we have just a
one-time yearly fee. We didn't pay for game. Do we know? I think in this instance We're paying the fee for the person that was with them for the whole season. The season. And that was how many games then? Do we know? Cuz you thought it was I don't know, maybe I'm mistaken. I don't know. Maybe Do you know what we did for >> do the math, so I don't know if we can We'd have to pull that contract. Okay. I'll get back to you. You want to know how many games and what was the other And the rate? How many games and rate? Okay. Thank you, Laura. Right. I'll just So for the Siren ballpark use of ballpark, is that just for for $2,400, is that just baseball or is that softball, too? That I
cannot tell you. That's that is a a fee we pay to the the village, I thought. That was an annual fee that we pay Is it a one-time use for however however much we Yes. utilize it? Okay. So whatever fields whatever So is pop is Do we pay is that also included with the youth? Or is this just for high school? Middle school? No, it's just for the use of the field for So I would assume youth Yeah, I think Okay. youth was included in that. Just for the school use use of the field. Splitting the utilities and things with the with the village. And the Village of Siren March hours, that's for Chief of Police? Mhm. Okay. Which is grant funded. Yep. Thank you. Okay, that was all the questions I had. Sorry. Any
other questions? Looking for all those in favor of approving the bill cycle. Yes. I. I. Okay. All right. Um we do have signature items that we'll take care of at the end. So at this time we're going to convene into closed session under state statute 19.851 C E F and G to consider employment, promotion, compensation, or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility, considerations of financial, medical, social, or personal information and to confer with legal counsel who is rendering oral or written aid. I have not practiced which ones go to which, but we will have referendum staffing considerations and resignation of admin. Uh Corey, wait, I need a motion to go into closed session. So a motion by Corey. I'll second it. Seconded by Jamie. All
those in favor. I. I. And then we'll call the Yeah, call the roll. Holly. Yep. Corey, yes. Mindy. Mindy. Yes. Yes. Yes. Katie. Yes. Jamie. Yes. Uh Kim. Kim. Yes. Kelly. Yes. Too many. >> you pick up Kimberly? Okay, so we'll wait for everyone to be logged in. I already responded to that. And we're going to do a picture
