All right. Call the meeting to order. The board meeting on the 17th of November at 6 PM. Roll call. We have Scott >> here. >> Carolyn >> here. >> Britney >> here. >> John >> here >> and myself all here. Announcements. Committee as a whole meeting be December 1st and regular board meeting is December 15th. Um, moving on. Approval of meeting uh meeting agenda. I get a motion to approve. >> I'll make a motion. >> I'll second. >> All in favor? >> I. >> Any opposed? All right. Moving on. I get approval of minutes. >> Motion. >> Second. >> All in favor? I >> oppose. >> Treasures report. >> Beginning balance $437,987.669. Total receipts was $463,7.72. Total expenses was $788,19629 for an ending balance of 1112,799,000 Why is it so difficult? $112,79912 and a local
government pool balance of 2,43,74757. >> I get a motion to approve the treasury report. I'll make the motion. >> I'll second. >> Any discussion? All in favor? >> Any opposed? Okay. Expenditures. Anybody have any question? So, can I get a motion to approve expenditures? >> All motion. >> Uh, any discussion on any expenditures? >> Okay. Uh, all in favor? >> I. >> Any opposed? Okay. Uh, no extended council, I'm assuming. >> No. >> Eager Eagle's Wings Charter Update. Oh, sorry. Yeah. Sorry. A little quick there. Um, anything spectacular need to go be over on that? Eagle's Wings Charter School update. Um, got the the minutes from the Eagle's Wings U meeting. Uh, a number of things that they're looking at is really uh getting their committees up and running. uh they've uh delegated their executive
uh group into the different committees and uh trying to set up their their meeting schedule uh so they can get back on track. That was the the biggest highlight of that meeting. >> Okay. >> And that brings us to Nathan. >> All right. We'll wrap up a little bit of our fall. Um, so you can see that there were a number of our athletes made had all conference in football. We had three of our own spring students, Taylor Nelson, Sam from Anderson Gr all made all conference football. Our last meeting, we had two girls qualify for the state's cross country meet. That was Alyssa Fawsome and Burfield. Um, Alyssa finished in 43rd place and LP in 61st. So congratulations to those two for qualifying. Uh, we had three boys, Jacob Logan and Deon Johnson and
three girls, Penelopey, Alyssa and Anson that also made first team all conference for cross country. And then volleyball had three members that made all conference. A Swanson was first team, Kendall Nelson second team, and Addison McCusky was honorable mention. So congratulations to all of those fall athletes. Um about the only thing that they haven't announced yet is um the volleyball and football all teams from the Telegram. They usually release them in around this time. So, that'll be about the only thing left to wrap up the fall. And then we're already on to winter. Uh middle school boys. Um they're about halfway through their season already. They've got a couple games uh left. Their last game is December the 8th and we'll have parents night on December 1st when we come back from from break. Um
high school girls basketball, they began practice last Monday. Um there are 10 girls that are participating, so we won't have a JV team. They did scrimmage uh on Friday at New Auburn. and Baron and they did well in terms of those scrimmages. Um, and they're actually ranked uh this came out over the weekend. They're the sixth ranked team in division five. So, it's I can't think of a time where our girls have been ranked in girls basketball. So, that's an awesome accomplishment to be ranked in the preseason and we'll obviously see how things go as their season continues here. But, their um their first home game is on Thursday against Webster. So the Ashlin paper had a column saying that Drummond and Washurn would be fighting for the conference title. Didn't even mention >> well
they weren't ranked in the top of us but >> I don't know if they were pandering to their local crowds or not. >> Probably >> as they mentioned in the in the rankings you know we only lost one senior and all of our top scorers were all freshman last year. So, um, at least the state of Wisconsin didn't ignore us, so that was nice. >> Boys basketball, they just got started tonight with practice. Uh, we do have about 12 kids participating, which was an increase from where we were at last year. So, we plan on having a JV team. I know we got a couple of kids that are working on some eligibility issues, so we could be as high as 14 by the time um, we're all said and done. So, that's a positive
for for our boys team. Uh, they're going to scrimmage next Thursday in Frederick and then The first one is on the 4th of December and then middle school volleyball will all start in January. Um I went to the um Wisconsin athletic director's conference uh last Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. Um that was a great uh conference as usual. Well, one of the big things that is um kind of weighing on athletic directors across state the state is our school today, which used to have all of our schedules and everything got bought by a company called Arbiter. And um there's been a lot of questions as to how that transition is going to go. Um Arbiter rolled out some stuff at the beginning of this month. Um and I logged on and I had no idea what
was going on when I looked at Arbiter. So was going to the conference and they had reps there that were kind of walking through some of the big changes. I think in the grand scheme of things, it will be a good change once everything is moved over. One of the big things was I went to find out where our athletes were and there weren't any athletes listed because they haven't been moved over yet. That's part of the process that is coming. But I think some of the issues that our school had will go away once we make this change to Arbiter and I think it will be a little bit more streamlined. Um, one of the things that I think would would help that is um, Arbiter offers that athletic registration piece. So instead of
dealing with um, paper forms that people are turning in, it's a online digitized process where they upload their physical forms and they check a say they agree to all of our um handbooks and the WIA forms and then um they put in their information and then they register for whatever sports they're going to participate in and then kind of the nice thing with it is that our coaches will have all of that information that um kind of that runs with our app. They'll have their information and they can see everything from you know any medical concerns or you know kind of the whole gamut of for all the kids that are registered for it. So, that's something it it does come with a cost. Um, it's kind of a onetime cost of $2,000 to get
us going and then $1,500 from here on out. Right now, I think we're only spending like 150 bucks. It's it's a pretty limited cost for that um to just be in our school today. Um, but I think this will help streamline a lot of the the systems that we have have here. >> So, our school was 150 for the year. >> Yes. >> And this will be 1,500. >> It would be 1,500. So, >> and the gain is >> the gain would be the whole online registration piece that we would then be able to add for any of our our athletes that would be there plus all of the stuff that we get through our through our >> Sorry, you were recommending we do this. I I when I talked to Arbiter over the summer
um it it was something that was intriguing because I think we kind of get bogged down with people submitting forms and they don't have all the forms and they don't have the right physicals and then a lot the nice thing is that it's all automated so that when their physicals are up like they will get an automatic message to be like hey you know Johnny's physical is due um and it provides our our coaches a little bit more information that they have kind of at their fingertips because they'll have it on the app that's there. So, just something to consider. It doesn't need to be agreed upon right now. We're kind because we're we're pretty much done with our whole registration piece for this year because there are very few kids that are just spring
sport athletes. You know, we've handled all of our winter sport. Spring is or fall is our kind of our big grouping, you know. So, it's just something to kind of put out there for consideration as to how we can maybe streamline this registration process. Um, but again, thanks for letting me be able to to go to that conference. It's always good when I'm able to do so. Um, we did have um the track position that was posted last week and I also posted that assistant football position for next fall. hoping that we can maybe with a little bit more time get somebody to bite on the football job. Um, we do have there's some level of interest for that track and field job. I know it's a little bit ways out, but March will be
here, you know, sooner than we think. So, just to be able to have that out there um so we can go through that hiring process and hopefully by January, if not by February, have someone in place for that for that position. Um we did have uh two of our coaches and seven of our athletes attend the sportsmanship summit that was last week in um Superior and um we've been having escode meetings at the first Wednesday of the month and so they're going to bring those um things that were talked about at the sportsmanship meeting to that um our escode meeting so we can kind of see where we want to go from there. I did I think one of the things that they talked about just in looking at the notes was trying to encourage
a little bit more of our own students to be able to come to games possibly doing like some sort of punch card like if you come to enough games and you get enough punches you're entered into a raffle or something you know I think it is something that I've been here long enough that it used to be that kind of every kid whether they were really interested in sports went to the games because it was something to do and now that's kind of waned a little bit. I think there's just more options for kids to do things and so they'd rather sit at home and do whatever um than to come to the games. So I think it's just a way um to kind of encourage more more students to be able to come to
games. That was just one of the things that I looked at quickly. So we'll have a little bit of an idea of of what direction we want to go and then um we're going to try to get a group together to go to that state sportsmanship summit. I know the registration ends next week and they still have some openings. So, um that would be a team of four and and so um and then the last thing I have is we did have a senior last week that signed his letter of intent to go play baseball at University of Minnesota and that was Isaiah Alurn. So, he was going to go play baseball at this and that's what I've got. So, do you want to come back with January once you've played with that um new
Yeah. >> A little bit more and give us some more information. >> Yeah, I I can certainly do that. And um the the gentleman who I I met with that was back in July um just kind of gave me an overview, but um it's worth a refresher from him just to to look at all that functionality that that we'll be able to gain and maybe I can get something I can add to the report so you guys can see a little bit more what what goes into that. Um see if it's worth. Yeah. >> So, I know you're not uh responsible for this on the technical side, but did we ever roll out our athletic Facebook page? I look for it every once in a while. I I'm I'm not sure what's going on. >>
Yes. So, that was about two weeks ago. Um but I know that there have been some technical issues with that. I met with coaches about two weeks ago and handed out the guidelines and we talked about it and uh it I don't know because like I said it's not I I don't know enough about the the Facebook side of things as to where there's issues. I know I was able to log in and there was a button for me to be able to post but I know some of our coaches when they got the login information they said I they weren't able to do anything. So I said I don't know what the barrier >> this week Springs girls basketball. >> Yeah. >> So I don't know if they started one too now. >> I
did see the athletic official Instagram one too and there just was hasn't been any post on it but >> yeah. So I I I can't answer as to to what it is. I know all of our coaches were given login information. Um but I There is something that is that something that's in the way. And >> are you the page administrator? >> I am not the page administrator. >> Okay. Who is? >> Uh Christine and Megan Tur. >> Okay. So, >> are they working it or >> I get asked about it every once in a while. >> No, I I hear you. And I think there's there's a solution. It's just a matter of getting everyone on because I I think there was some some confusion that people had to create a business account and
that's not the case. You get the invite, you plug or you select enter or select that invite and it has you log in through your personal. So it's tied >> to the school district, but it's your personal that gets you in. So >> Okay. Hopefully we can get that worked out, >> right? >> You have anything else? >> I don't have anything else. No one else has anything. >> Well, thank you very much, sir. >> Thank you. >> And you are up. >> Yes, sir. Um, so just a few items, updates and recognitions. Uh, we completed our hope survey. We should be getting I'll have to double check on when we'll be getting the results back from that. Um, that kind of ties into one of our priorities that we established last year in terms
of our school um, climate and culture with our staff and students. Um, we also had our Veterans Day program this past week. Um, it was great. It was fun seeing everyone come together and I mean I overall thought it went really well and it was well attended and so just many thanks to everyone that was a part of that day. Um Northland Pines sent a Monasuri team uh last Friday to collaborate and kind of observe some of our Monasuri uh classrooms and meet with our our team as well. And so unfortunately it was cut short because there's some sickness in in the crew that came over. until their their day ended. >> And where is Northland Pines? >> Eagle River. >> Oh, God. Okay. >> Yeah. Um and so there might be some conversation of
possibly going going there. Um I know there was some I think they've gone there in the past to kind of collaborate and see what they do within their um classrooms. And then I just again Amanda Gtormson has been doing a phenomenal job getting our fax program um and classroom just back up and running. So doing a lot of great things and the times I've stopped in there, it's a busy room and it's just very energetic and positive and so she's doing a really great job. >> Um just a few things with our PBIS team. So, some of these are still kind of ongoing, finalizing our tiered fidelity um inventories to identify our areas of strength and areas of growth. Um and then again, just we're trying this month was a little wonky with some of
our meeting dates and so getting back on track um with those universal expectations um those revisiting those throughout the school year, especially between our breaks um to re re-emphasize those expectations or teach I should say and then um still working on that acknowledgement system. Our PLC team we met last week so that's our overall team just kind of next steps for continuing to strengthen our PLC groups um throughout the district. Um we are completing a PLC fidelity measure so ensuring that what is going well and what are still some areas that we need to look into. So our um collaborative um meetings and teams are are doing what they need to do and what are some things and we can support them in. Um and then just continuation of that universal design for learning um
at our past professional development day. We kind of introduced that concept to our team and continuing to build um as we go through our professional development days. I believe we're revisiting that again this Friday with our our staff. Um just some upcoming events and upcoming work. Um so as you know the ne this month and next month are pretty busy with concerts and u Mr. Hopy will talk more about our band and what they have coming up. Um and we yeah so just a lot of concerts we have coming and then just some continuation of some of the work that we've been doing. So our educator effectiveness evaluations and observations of our team. Um, Friday, we'll also start diving into our essential standards for math with our math teachers. And then um just looking at
some forward um training for for our staff in terms of district assessment training and then that un universal design for learning. And then lastly, um staffing updates. We still currently have um our 4K and Eagles Academy par professional position opened and our long-term math substitute position is still currently in the interest of um the substitute one we did but it fell through so that was the only interest that I've >> been in contact with about potentially filling that. So, >> okay. >> Um, can CISA be of any assistance in that >> filling that or? >> Uh, no, not usually. I I know that uh they they do provide uh specialty services to districts, but it's more >> well and and just the type of positions th those are like onesies, twoosies like deaf, heart of
hearing or aology, you know, those ies that districts generally don't have. So >> uh right so um we haven't used Indeed. I know with teaching positions the state of Wisconsin has good grie >> we can thank you very much that all districts uh post positions to that. So, >> so are we now able to bring back retired teachers or is that still >> I'll talk about that second. >> I mean that might be I don't know retired >> right math teachers in the area but >> right >> so >> all right Pete I believe you're done right? >> Yes sir. >> Okay you're up. >> All right sounds good. So, the first thing up I think uh we've got a leader of the the drum line for the Soul Springs band uh that's been meeting
regularly and will be uh with the band on the 21st on Friday uh marching in the Christmas City of the North parade in the so awesome. I'm I'm really looking forward to that. I don't know anything else you want to share about it. So, >> they sound great. We were down there today and they were amazing. I hope you're not like that guy in that Miles Teller movie where he's drunk teacher. I don't care. >> Oh my. No, we're not like that. >> Okay, good. >> Any So, yeah, just if you're in Duth on Friday evening, I know that uh there's quite a few people in Wisconsin that will have other things in mind on Friday night before deer season. Uh but um 6:30 is when it starts. All right. Any uh next one uh
to bring up that topic uh that you were talking about, John. So it's Assembly Bill 196, Senate Bill 170. It's that re rehire annuitance and no one really knows what's going on here because it seemed like it had a lot of support, but it's just kind of stalled out in committee. It hasn't gone anywhere. So not not quite sure what's going on there. So um I I know that uh um uh this Datasic who works with SAA, she gives us up gives uh superintendents updates on legal issu legal issues or legal bills coming through that impact education and she doesn't have any answers for it right now either. So >> So that's not likely to help us by January or whatever. >> Right. Not right now. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. >> So, that that would have
been nice, but maybe in the future. >> All right. So, next one, uh, facility needs evaluation. Uh, just that on, uh, Thursday 5:00 pm, we'll have board and district leaders there, uh, to meet with Mark and Johnson, River Valley architects. And then, um, can have some community members involved. Obviously, we're posting uh that u that notice of quorum because I think we're we've got at least three that will be present. So, so the public will be aware of that. And then on Friday, we'll have small groups of staff uh coming through and providing their information. So, >> so will the Thursday meeting be different from when they were here the last? >> Right. it will because it it's not the the last meeting when they were here they were talking about uh just the overall
maintenance of the facility whereas this one's going to get into the spaces that we have how are we utilizing them what could be done differently and what are some of the needs that we still have. >> Okay. So yeah very much a different discussion in that sense. All right. Uh just getting into a few other things. Keep keep you guys ab breast of uh legal legal bills that are current in action. Uh Assembly Bill 613. Um yeah, requires a school principal employed by a school district to notify the parent and or guardian of each pupil in class. Um as a result of removal, the quality and quantity of instruction time provided. Yeah, it's gets into a lot of uh yeah, it's almost like a micromanagement piece as far as what what the details are. I
think you know when we have uh students that are out that should be the practice that we're talking to parents this is what's going on why they're removed and for the duration. So like a teacher send you down to the office type thing. >> Yeah. So >> do so we don't necessarily automatically notify a parent if a student was referred to the office or something >> there there should be some communication okay that goes with that. So that's expectation. >> Okay. Um, bill 614, um, each teacher employed by a school district is authorized to maintain order in the classroom, uh, to establish and enforce class rules, call 911, take immediate action, etc., etc. This gets into more of that uh, safety concerns that uh, a number of teachers, not necessarily in our area, but elsewhere,
they were asking for very clear things as to how to handle um a a growing um I don't know if unruly is it but a lot more significant behaviors uh that are occurring in classrooms. So not sure where that's going. It's kind of mixed uh mixed reviews. Uh the next one there's a there's a package a consolidation package. Uh it's just a bunch of stuff that they're talking about increases the initial uh consolidation to districts at 644 645 grants for studying just studying the consolidation uh feasibility. 647 whole grade sharing between districts uh 648 program to reduce property tax impacts for consolidation and then the funding mechanism for broader consolidation package. that that last one is the funding mechanism for all the rest because all the other ones do not have funding tied to it
and that was a big concern. I know there's two districts uh in the state that are that are currently working through a process. It's Greenwood and Loyal uh six miles apart. They they started talking about this uh over a year ago and and they testified just saying it's it's a big process if they try to look at consolidation. Oh, you're talking about when you say consolidate putting two districts. >> That's correct. >> Yes. Yeah. So, that's that's one thing that that's out there that they're talking about. Just keeping guys a breast of that. Um, going on to the next one is cell phone ban in classrooms. Um, I think we do that already. So, it is now official. So, we'll see about actual policy that we get from addressing cell phone bands. Um, so we'll
see where what what is provided there. Okay. And then the last item I had was uh special education support um just of recent we had evaluation of of a student that has more significant needs and requires additional support that we do not currently have. So >> that be like adding another That is correct. That's correct. >> Would that be in addition to the one that's vacant or that >> the vacant? >> No, the the vacant one is uh one that we moved uh that would be supporting the 4K 5K classroom. This is this is a separate >> is it just for that student? >> That a majority of that time right now would be that student. >> Okay. All right. I don't believe we have anybody for public comment. All right. So, discussion and action.
Personal recommendations. I don't think there was anything on there, was there? >> No current uh recommendations. >> Okay. Consideration of donations. So, yeah. American Legion Auxiliary. Uh just recognizing uh it was the day or the week National Educators Week. Uh just wanting to recognize our our staff uh and give some treats. So, we don't have because it's not above the other dollar amount that we have to approve by. >> Uh it's just more than that except just okay. So, we don't need to motion. >> All right. District and academic career plan. >> Yeah. So annually we have to review our um for ACP plan. Um and part of that is just um going through our previous year schools and revising as needed to how it currently fits our district. And so we're still kind of
currently in that revitalizing um our ACP pathways and identifying CT um career readiness um oh gosh curriculum and um PD development or professional development for so >> all right uh Uh recommend approval on that or we still working on it. >> So this is complete. >> This is complete. Okay. >> Is this I guess we do. I just had a couple questions. >> So is this something that our guidance council or is this involved in? >> Yes. So this year we established an ACP team um and we part of that team is to meet three times a year. So reviewing revising our plan but also kind of what are how do we um meet those future goals and so we meet with a consultant from CISA 12 as well that helps guide us through this
process and what we need to do here as a district and how now of us having that base class again, is that kind of affecting this too a little bit? >> Yeah, absolutely. So, so we'll talk about this more when we get to December when we start talking about school report cards because the when we talk about CTE or career technical education, uh our our school report card or district report card talks about the the percentage of of students or pathways that we currently have. That's that's one of the new indicators they they they uh have on that. And our objective is to get more students taking uh courses that are along career path, getting in involved with uh youth apprenticeship uh and taking courses like through um our our industrial arts or uh through
FACE that that will boost it up. The other piece that that we don't necessarily talk about is the more uh students that have career uh career path concentrators uh listed the more actual funds we get back from the Perkins Carl Perkins grant. So, and then that just goes feeds back into our uh CTE courses and whatnot. So, >> so the the sort of the go uh this program is designed for employment after high school. That is correct. Okay. Who's on our ACP team? >> Um so, Amanda Gtorson, Nick Adams, Jennifer, myself, Danny Kase. >> Okay. >> And then our consultant from Rebecca Spence from CE. >> All right. Well, sounds like the right people. >> Okay. All in favor? >> I. Any opposed? >> Okay. Policy updates 3 34.2 group three first reading. Consider approval
of the policy updates. >> I make a motion to approve. >> Second. >> Any discussion on any of them? >> Okay. All in favor? >> I Any opposed? Okay. sake ges and contribution. I assume you guys discussed this. >> We we did and uh I think the the task was coming up with a better idea of what what this could potentially look like. Uh, and and I know that Leanne and I really dove into what we had and also looked at plans that other districts and entities had and and tweaked this out a little bit. This these are recommendations on here uh which have to consider or provide feedback on where where we should go with this. So, do you think this meets or is close to meeting what was requested by a large number
of staff? >> Right. So, it's I think it's working its way closer to what they were requesting because that the what they're requesting is that anyone could qualify whether they donated or not. >> Right. And um there's still, you know, quite a few of the plans that we uh ran across still had that requirement that they had to donate to participate. Um but trying to give clear parameters and and open it up sooner for people that are employed by the district. >> So and then according to this chart, you could by your second year, you could start contributing a day. >> That's correct. >> And then that then if you needed to draw from the bank, you're now qualified. >> That is correct. >> And current was the three to five or >> so if
you go down further this is uh something that you can there's a consideration previously we had a a table where you had three to five years you can get you know five and whatnot. So you can stick to a table like that or uh what's highlighted in yellow is another option that could be considered. So I'm not seeing date. >> That's and that's something that that we have to lay out when when specifically that is. And and I know Leanne and I talked about this whether it's the end of the year or the beginning of the year. And if if we're going to have that open season uh for employees going into their year number two, it would make sense that it's at the beginning of the school year. >> I think I asked this
before, do you have like an open enrollment here at the school >> forenefit? >> And is that something that could be do it then? I mean that to me that makes sense. you do it great with during the open enrollment, >> right? >> Works in that. >> Yeah. The the only consideration if if you have a minimum number of days that staff need to have in their their personal bank. What what I was recommending is that you have that they maintain a minimum of 15 days, which is three weeks. A person going in that just finished up their first year will not have that. If they go into a second year and they get their aotment for that second year, they will I thought they couldn't do it till their second year anyways, >> but
that that's what I'm saying. That would be their second year, >> right? They have to be back for the second year. >> That's correct. >> Have that option to enter? That makes sense. >> How often are they doing contract? >> Every year. >> Would that be an appropriate time then when they're signing? >> It's almost the same time. Yeah, that's the require requirement is that we have those contracts out in May. They have to have those returns, >> but you don't really invest in the second year till you start. >> That's that's correct. Yeah. >> But I mean that could be when you could opt in. You don't actually invest then, but you would opt in to start investing that next year >> during open enrollment. >> Right. So I I will say that uh
typically what we have at the beginning of the year is we have representatives from like a here at the beginning of year to talk to staff. >> That can also be that time where opportunity >> I'm okay with that. >> So is every well protocolation. So, it's a consideration once again when we get down to the uh 11 at XI. There's the two different options where you have that. >> Are you asking which one do you want us to choose or >> that's that's it. I saw it two different ways. uh if we want to maintain you know what we had uh previously with that table that's an option or otherwise the up to 60 contract stays maybe withdrawn you know per employee with that maximum 120 that's some verbage I saw in a different
plan so >> I like the table that just started donating right I could see either way honestly because I mean if you all of a sudden have a huge thing you know it is up to so it would all have to go through the board can say all right we'll give you money right >> is it the board or is it is it the emergency sick bank >> emergency committee board >> so it's not Like you're guaranteed that >> No, >> you're going to get 60 days for >> Yeah, because you could be at four and a half years and come down with some catastrophic illness and >> well days. >> Yeah, because it's FMLA. So I think you have to provide documentation on why and how long. >> No, I think this is different.
>> I I kind of like lean towards the yellow. I think I mean it hasn't really been used by anyone and if there is something going on I think also like kind of taking care of the staff is going to help us retain the staff. So >> versus saying well sorry you're going >> I'm okay with the yellow >> just for the fact that you know it's an emergency It's not something you're gonna, >> oh, I'm sick. I got the flu. I'm going to take five days of emergency. >> Right. And you still have a committee that looks at it. >> Yeah. >> And you do have it in there somewhere, right? Is it five days that if they've been ill, they have to have >> document >> five five days of unpaid before they
would qualify. Okay. Bank also. >> Yeah. I What is there a reason for that? Um, >> I mean, it just seems a little odd. You have to take a week of unpaid before you can >> It's kind of like sickly. >> Yeah. It's kind of like that way. >> I mean, because you could you can use your own sickly. >> Yeah. And actually, you would be required to use your own first before you >> and then, but you say you use all your own. You would still need the five days of unpaid >> that. That's that's something that we discussed but once again that's something that >> I don't think it's unreasonable because for any disabilities they all have usually it's like 14 days for like a two week period that they have to go
before the benefits kick in. I don't think it's totally unreasonable like a five day. >> Yeah, because they could use >> I just hate to have to go five days without pay if I was >> Well, they could use >> some after using your own >> and presumably using the personal well personal things anyway. Just a couple year >> I don't see that 5k thing. It's above. It's on page two. It's the third bullet point. Oh, wait. Sorry. >> Second bullet point. >> Yeah. Second, sorry. >> I also think that five days gives time for the the committee to convene and make a decision on approve that too. So my question is the five days counting I've used all my sick days now I have five days of unpaid before the bank could >> catch
and only staff that have contributed to the bank is what this one is saying would be able to but they could use it with a minimum having contributed just one day. They don't have to >> right by the second year you put in your one day contribute your one day then presumably you're eligible for >> I'm okay with this honestly the way it's rewarded and then just use the yellow. Is everybody okay with the yellow then? >> I am and I think just adding that is it like the first staff development day that That would be the first opt, >> right? >> So if we could have like beginning in service day would be your opt. >> So do you want to come back next month if it's all written out totally and then we'll
approve it or do you want to that's your call. Let's get it all written down and We'll come back to it. Table it until everybody okay with table until next month. >> All right. All right. Moving on. Bear school business services wants to learn how to do budgeting. >> Right. No. Uh in in a discussion during committee the whole just the questions on if if we utilize this service for this year, you know, what what would be the requirements of Leanne? And uh talking with Marquez today, just got got a little better idea that when we go through registration for the product, it'll give us instructions on how to download uh this Excel file that has all the data that they require, send it to them. Uh he did mention previous previously that there's a
a training that we could attend that would help us understand how to use it better. Um and that's that was primarily I don't know if there was any discussion >> and if we opted into this you know now it's one year from the date we opt in >> so it right so I that's a good question that I did not ask specifically but it was for >> that assumption. >> Yeah, I can get that. >> Okay, let's get that. All right, moving on. Chapter one stipen considerations. You guys discuss this meeting? >> Anything changed? What's right here? >> No, we had just discussed like basically the ones that were kind of part of a curriculum >> versus the ones that were a class was opting into. >> Yeah, I saw that. Well, do you want
to make a motion to recommend the changes? >> I think the only one that was of concern is the I know that we've been doing the Ernie Swift camp that's fifth grade and then we moved Wolfridge to sixth grade and it's just that question is does the board still want our students to participate in that because we're providing the stipen for it. So, So maybe it'd be helpful at least to me to give us a overview of which each does Swift and the Wolf, right? Which >> so uh Ernie Swift camp it's there there's a lot of learning that goes into uh the outdoors but then also how they're interacting with each other and developing things. I don't know if there's anything else you can think of. >> Wolf. >> Yeah, Wolfridge. Um, it's it's
more of a a ecological um learning center. They really dive into ecosystems, especially up north here, how uh plants and animals tie into that ecosystem. And I don't know if they still do it. I had my kids went through there, but it was a big long thing. And there was also ties to like the fur trade and whatnot. So, how that impacted stuff. So, they do a lot more of of actually getting out and doing research. And >> so, is this the whole sixth grade goes or just students that sign up for? >> It would be the sixth grade. >> The whole learn about fur trade. Like I said, I'm not sure if they still do that. That was with a week long, but but their main focus is that ecological studies. They've got a
local lake there. They go out and and look for critters and, you know, assessing that water >> a little more in depth. Anyway, but there's there's a lot more science to this. So, >> so are you a little on the fence that that this continues for six years? It's It's not that I'm on the fence. It's just confirming that the board sees that as a valuable piece. So, >> is there a benefit to doing how long? Three days versus >> it is >> going to visitor center. There's there's a lot more hands-on classroom stuff with Bridge. So, >> you know, it would be helpful if we have one of the teachers that were our shaper roles for that maybe brief the board as to what the value of this is. >> Okay. So, then that
that brings up the question with just Wolfridge if we remove that the other stipens. Is that something that we can do? >> Sorry. >> Could we maybe have in there because did you say Wridge is three days? Three. Is it three nights? >> Well, it says two because it's a >> three days. >> Three staff members. >> Two days. >> Three days for travel. So, >> and Ernie Swift is near or something. >> Was where's >> it's up uh >> No. Yeah. It's it's it's further north up towards Haley. Oh, >> It's a track up there. Okay. And the students paid to go to both. The fee does not come pretty swift. If the students have not collected enough, then we pay a portion. for the camp wolf bridge in the past that was strictly
fundraised. So I don't know if that's something we want to be considering also is the camp cost. >> What what does it cost per student to do? >> Well like 209 what it is and Ernie Swift was based on however many things they had going and then that was the cost for split between the number of kids that has and the number of kids that my has. So that can fluctuate depending on number of students involved. >> Yeah, I have no problem going to was sixth graders up in Elely. I don't know. >> Right. >> It's maybe it's worth it. I just I just don't know. >> Right. >> And you know, all I can say is well, it's been forever since my kids went through probably about 15 years ago. um or more >>
about their set trap trap lines or >> Yeah. No, but it was it was it was a really neat neat experience and they fundraised all the funds to attend and that's yeah I guess that's where I would see this that there would be fun >> and as now we don't we're not paying any stipen to the >> that is correct. >> Okay. Well, can I get a motion to approve the changes uh line up bridge for now? We find out more about it unless you want to keep it in. I'll make a motion to approve minus Widge until we get more information. >> I'll second. Any other discussion on it? >> All in favor? >> Any opposed? >> Do we um are we covering this year then? >> They did. >> So that would be
a retro just for a few months ago. >> How many 600 bucks? Was it >> I think there amend your motion or do we want a motion to retro of 2025. >> Is that the only thing affected by that? Was there a dance? >> The uh there was a homecoming dance. Yes. >> So that would be >> So why don't we just say retro to the beginning of the school year? >> I'll make that motion. >> Second. >> I already made the motion. that we're retroing the pay for these to the beginning of this school year >> to the beginning of the school year. >> Motion >> Caroline. >> So that would be >> pretty in the room for the dance. >> That's why does that already happen? >> Homecoming dance and that is just
one of them. Yes, one the clasps would have to >> not yet. All in favor? >> I >> Any oppose? I was waiting on what she said. I was waiting for her to say something else because I thought something else was coming. >> Uh Scott, >> thank you. >> All right. Middle school high school handbook update. >> Once again, it was just clarification on >> cell phones. On cell phones. Yes. Which will probably be changed next year. Just I'm just kidding. >> Anybody wants to make a motion on that? >> I'll motion. >> I'll second. I have a question. >> You got a question? Go ahead. >> So, on video surveillance, says video footage may be shared with law enforcement for ongoing investigations, but will not be shared with students or families. >> That is
correct. >> So, a kid does something out of order that we turn over to lawful law enforcement. The parent says, "Well, What did he do? We're not showing video. >> Showing and giving to them are two different things. >> Okay. So, they can come and view what was >> they said as >> Yes. >> to to a certain extent as long as it's >> regarding how much they can show. >> Right. That's correct. >> Okay. >> That is correct. >> Okay. >> All those in favor? >> I. Any opposed? Okay. Appointment of board delegate and alternate delegate for Wisconsin State Education Convention 21st to 23rd. I cannot go over here. And I was our delegate the last three years. So, who wants to go? I'm not going. >> I'll go again. >> Well, I mean,
yeah, I >> You know what to do. You were the alternate last year. >> I don't think we had an >> You always have to have an alternate technically. So I will she obviously accepted already. >> No, >> I will say I was the first one to do it in a long time >> in probably about four years. I was going to say It's highly recommended, but it's not >> it's not a requirement. >> It's kind of neat the first time you see it. I will say that. >> After that, it's not so much, but >> but you learn a lot about how the WB works. >> Each district has a delegate and how many districts do we have? >> There's a couple. >> So, you're going to be in the room with a lot
of people. >> You like being in Congress? almost almost >> and it's a quorum thing too like you'll get a card when you go in you got to give a card when you leave because if they lose quorum they got to pause or >> end the session >> like two or three years ago they had to end the session because it drove on so long that people I left a lot of other people left and they lost for them >> but and the last two years been a lot better because we had people before that were like um that period should be a comma and we should capitalize that better and that's the kind of stuff they were bringing up and they were like no we're not doing that anymore grammatical errors everything else that's
not part of this >> we're not making law these aren't law things they're what they are going to um >> what they advocate for advocate yeah >> right so it's a Wisconsin associate association of school board >> and they are they are our advocates with uh state legis >> and that's that's this comes into as to what they're really going to focus on. So, >> so the date >> the 21st through the 23rd >> January you were still kind of looking into doing car pooling. Uh, I I think it I think um I haven't heard anything else on it as far as um the coach bus. Um I'm assuming that that did not go through it. My thing was that when I was still considering until I couldn't go was if we wanted to leave
early, we have to wait around. You know, I mean, I guess it's not a huge deal, but just sitting at the convention center waiting. >> You've seen everything you wanted to see and gone to everything you wanted to go because they're going to stay for that extra day and the closing ceremonies and all that, too, >> most likely. >> We cut out early, >> right? because that that Friday the Friday is a shorter date and and the closing out of the session. Um I think trying to remember two years ago it was Governor Ivers gave that that closing address. Um and I think that's that's something that yeah it's good to be there but not necessarily waiting around for. So >> all right so Britney will be our We have a second >> delegate. >>
Second. >> We want to name it all. We don't really have to be able to go. >> I'll make sure we get okay. I do have the agenda for for the delegates did come out today. So, All right, everybody in favor? >> I opposed. All right, sounds good. Daycare lease agreement. >> All right. Uh, I just needed to bring this in front of the board. Uh, there are no changes to the amounts. So, it's just another two-year extension of our current lease agreement. Have they been taking care of the things that were have been better now? I know we were having some issues there for a while, >> right? >> No, they've been taking action on uh the door uh exit the back steps and now a number of other items. >> Just curious what
that item 18 is. 10ear depreciation on constructing the bathroom. Yeah, >> we brought the cost for that or something. >> We we we paid for that >> and they're going to >> So if we get out of >> decrease, >> they will pay us something. >> Okay. >> They're going to pay us minus every year that we're there. >> Minus 10% every year. >> We were the ones that needed to be there. >> Yeah. >> All right. Can I get approval of the lease agreement? >> I'll make a motion. >> Any more discussion? >> All in favor? >> Any opposed? 2526 board of education calendar correction. >> So this pertains to our next meeting. >> Oh. Uh should be the first not the first not the fourth. Yes. >> Motion official. >> Motion. >> Second.
>> All in favor? >> I opposed. Copier lease renewal. >> So our renewal comes up um this year and iOS is the company that we are currently with. We've been with them for plus years. Um, our representative came in and said they are being told that prices are going up astronomically in July. And he's worked hard in keeping our um getting us locked into the same rate that we've had since the beginning, which is good. Very rare that the company we used to have, we have rates and they were quite a bit more. Um, he would be bringing in two different machines. So, we would change out the one from the high school office would go into the elementary and the one from, think about this, the elementary. Is that where the other one would
go? They've also they've talked about then they would eliminate one of our our oldest machines with the highest usage on it. But the high schools talked about having a machine put into the art room, the high school art room. So Sue said, "Well, that could be no problem. Rather than pulling that machine out, they could put that machine into the art room. It doesn't change the cost of our monthly agreement and they cover the cost of the toner and staplers and all the machines that we have. >> So toners are included. >> Yes. >> With up to so many copies. >> Yes. >> We paid per copy after that. >> Correct. >> So we're keeping the machines we have. >> We would be keeping Yes. And then two new ones would be two refurbished ones
they are getting sold because so many businesses um no longer working out of offices >> since co they're working from home. >> So they are getting good machines with hardly any usage on them. >> So we're adding two >> adding one because two new ones in, one going out and that's just moving one to the room so it's more accessible. >> So that that shouldn't increase their cost. We're keeping the same machine whether new ones go up or not. >> And you said that it wouldn't increase your cost. >> 54 bucks a month. >> Yeah. So the cost the overall cost would go up um for the lease for the machine around $54 a month. >> Toner alone is I mean yeah I pay for toners in a regular laser and I'm paying $300 a
month. our Eagle Flyer, the amount of toner we're going through since we started that. I'm kind of amazed that they have not I mean for paying for those additional copies, but like you said, the cost of toner is so my recommendation would be that we go ahead and um sign the renewal. Uh we can do that before the end of the lease so he can get those machines to us, get this um rate locked in. So we were talking goes up. >> Yeah. So, we were talking about um even before spring break, we've got a couple of breaks in January, February, maybe trying to do the the swap other machines. >> Well, it's I gota remember it's including toner. So, >> yeah, >> that's why. >> Well, yeah. For that increase over day. Well, no.
That's $700 and some dollars a month is what it is. This new one. That's including toner for all of them, too. >> That's for newer newer machines. >> I mean, like I said, toner I pay $300 a month for for my work. And that's just a regular color copier. Not even anything fancy like these. I know that. So, you're >> right. >> Yeah. And they've been really good about they're very very good. I think when we have an issue, they come in pretty quick. >> When was the last time we shopped around otherwise? >> Is there I mean, how many other companies are around? >> When Frank was here. And then Yeah. I didn't realize that they have some areas that they can't that certain ones can't cover for certain machines. I learned that when
they went through the process with Frank. >> I know. If it's like anything like a fire company, if you got service, that's a big thing because >> finding people to service anything nowadays is gig. >> I feel like that, too. And I feel like they're they've been really good about coming pretty quickly when when we have a need within a day usually. >> It is extremely good. >> And I think that they've stayed the price of not locked in is huge and their price when we when we were doing the bids the price was quite a bit less than what we were looking at companies. >> Well, I get a motion to approve the lease renewal. >> Motion second. >> Any other questions or considerations? All those in favor? >> I. >> Any opposed? Moving
on. Special education prayer professional. I think Pete already covered this. So, we just need to consider approval of special education opening, I believe. Right. >> That's correct. >> So, can I get a motion to approve? >> Motion. >> Second. >> I do have a question. >> Yep. >> By law, do we have to provide coverage for that right away? Whatever is written in an IEP is what we have to cover. >> That's coming. >> Any other questions or all in favor? >> Any opposed? Let's continue into close session pursuit of Wisconsin statutes 19.851C 51C to consider the employment promotion compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which this governmental body has jurisdiction exercises the responsibility second. >> All in favor any close session >> at uh 710 uh 12
