Now I will call the meeting to order for the school board regular meeting. Uh if everyone can again please rise for the pledge of allegiance. >> I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all. >> Okay. Next we move to administrator's report of the agenda posting and notification of the meeting to the media. The agenda was posted at Three Lakes School and Sugar Camp School via email. Town of Three Lakes, Town of Monaco, Town of Sugar Camp, and the Denver Library. Media notified by email was File County News, Northwoods River News, WRJ News, WXPR Radio. And media notified by mail, WACD, WATK radio. >> Thank you. Next. Do we have any amendments to
the agenda tonight? >> There are none. >> Hearing none. Is anyone willing to make a motion on approval of the agenda? >> I'll make a motion to approve the agenda. >> Second. >> We have a motion by Josh, second by Stacy. All those in favor of the motion signify by stating I. >> I. I. >> Opposed. None heard. Motion carries 40. Next we move to routine approvals starting with the minutes of the September 17th, 2025 regular meeting. Are there any concerns, additions, subtractions from the minutes as posted? If there are none, I would take a motion. >> We'll make a motion to approve the minutes as presented. >> I'll second. >> We have a motion by Stacy, second by Brian. All those in favor of the motion signify by stating I. >> I. >> Opposed.
None heard. Motion carries. >> Next we move to the treasurer's report. I'll motion to approve the checks dated September 12th, 2025 through October 15, 2025 for accounts payable AC checks 06 through 25260 regular checks 13145 through 131693 voided checks 131506 131540 0 and 131543. Manual checks 5953 to 5981 and 9771. and wire transfers 2025 Z0097 in the amount of 768,690 93 and AC payroll checks 90046522 through 90046877 and regular payroll checks through 59435 uh in the amount of $575,651.7 for a total amount of $1,344,342. Do we have a second? second. Did you need more time? >> Yeah, if I could just Caleb, what was the what was the 930 check 930? It's the very first one on the list. >> Which one are you looking at? >> The very first one on the list. It's
like 6 930. in which you check >> uh sorry um I apologize in the uh check summary report payroll check summary report >> for for one now the very top one >> yeah yep >> uh that was a WRS mistake that was being corrected in payroll All >> okay >> Michelle was dealing with that. >> Okay, >> there was some but >> yeah being >> okay. >> Thank you. >> Anything further? >> Okay, we still have a motion on the floor by Brian, second by Stacy. All those in favor of the motion signify by stating I. I opposed. None heard. Motion carries. Next, do we move to public comments? Does anyone have any comments regarding any agenda items this evening? Hearing none, we'll move to administrator's report. All right. My report is is brief, but
we just wanted to try to keep um board up to date on our commitment to one of our goals that we re we reached this year. again bringing the focus to our school spirit. And I think that we've really seen that in full force this kickoff to the school year and now we're actually right into it. We're rounding up, you know, that the end of our fall sports and it just feels like that that goal has continued to grow. There's a nice feel. There's a good vibe with it. And um Jen and I talked and just thought it'd be a nice time to bring some attention to that. She put together a little montage, I'll call it, of the school spirit. um seen through the song, the school song. So, Jen, if you would play
that for us. She can't stand the test. We pledge alance to the school we love the best. And it's really fun because you hear the kids humming it and singing it throughout the school. It's it's taken root. We're happy that it's growing and it's just becoming part of the culture. It's been really fun looking at um you know the designs and some of the branding as we get into our school design. How we can incorporate the feel of the school spirit again with the colors of the walls with the posting of the song with the posting you know we want to get to even our goals prior to that but really make that a focal point within the building so it's kind of always in our minds. That's what I wanted to share. Next, uh,
new business. >> New business. We're going to move to district related positive happenings at the beginning of our meetings. Um, we decided that this Lisa and I talked about this and and I support her in this. It's let's talk about the good stuff before we get into the heavier items. So, I'll turn it over to you to >> Perfect. >> Yeah. So, sometimes this is kind of awkward at the end of the meeting, right? Everyone just kind of gets out of here. So like a leadership philosophy is starting with the good, right? Um before we get into the bad things. So if you're ready, uh we'll take uh positive happenings. >> Sure, I'll start. I got a list. Perfect. Uh first I'll go with the uh eighth grade students recently went to an event at
Niclay College where they learned about Nickel's academic programs, local opportunities for career-based learning experiences and employment after high school. Uh the feedback was that this was an awesome experience. Uh we used to do the heavy metal tour. This was that plus more. Uh and it it not only just focused on the manufacturing stuff, there was a lot more um things for them to take a look at there. So, uh, we loved it and we'll continue to do it. Uh, it was a good a great opportunity. Um, just today, students from our leadership class and a few others, uh, attended an event, uh, leadership summit sponsored by the RVA, uh, in Monqua at the waters and our students, collaborated and competed with students from a whole bunch of other when when Mr. Diter got back, he
was telling me the list of schools that were there. Uh, he loved it. He said well he's been doing this leadership thing for a long time um and they've been to a lot of summits and programs and he said this was the best one he's had by far and hopes to keep running it because it was really well done. >> Um so that was a good thing. Uh welding students uh just recently a Friday or two ago uh spent their day at Nicollay College uh to use the Nicollay facilities and started demonstrating their competencies. Um Nicollay as most of you know is all competency based with their programming now. So, they start to check things off the list um on their way to their welding program credentials. So, uh good stuff there. And yesterday, um
today's Wednesday, yeah, Tuesday, uh our 11th grade students kicked off ACT season with a full day of ACT prep. Uh we tweaked things a little bit this year. The ACT prep program they're working with is going to be a little more interactive um and and help to give them some feedback as they go. um to hopefully make them or help them focus on what they need to focus on. Uh the day also included um a rep from WGB uh was here and talk with the whole junior class um discussing timelines for juniors between now and when they graduate uh uh about post-secary stuff. Um so teachers are working with the juniors starting now uh during winter time all the way through when they take that exam in March. So, um, we're amping up our ball
game a little bit and hopefully getting kids just a little more prepared, uh, for that monster of a test coming up in March. Uh, last but certainly not least, Hokco week, I think, was a pretty big positive. Um, just in the sports world, like fall sports, coaches typically don't love homecoming because it's a lot of distraction and typically it it takes kids brains away from their their competitions. And we buck the odds, we buck the trend on that. All three of our home homecoming games were victories against pretty quality opponents. So, uh we'll we'll take it. >> Wonderful. >> It was a good spirit week though for real. >> Uh sugar camp. Miss Miller had her invention convention last week. So that's steam focused. Um both fourth grade of Mr. Carl and Miss Miller do
steam projects on a regular basis. Um, we did also receive a company out of Washington State called Schweitzer Corporation or company. They sent a donation. They have their employees select schools that they want to give some money to. And um, this is Mr. Krauss says this is apparently a former student that went to share camp that made a small donation. So, that'll go back to their their steam group there to work on something with the kids. Um, SEO had their healthy kids walk beginning of the month or end of September there. Um, that was interesting. It was fun. And >> how'd you do? >> I did not win did not win the race, but that's okay. Mr. Carell won that race, too. That's all we'll say about that right now. Um, book fair is this
week. That's all set up, ready to go. That looks like it's going to be good event for the kids. Um, we did have our first citizenship assembly of the month um about two weeks ago here. Um, that's revamped a bit from what it was. It's end of the day. Um, you saw the clip up there. We're doing the same thing that Mark and I are both doing with the school song, adding that in, but I'm getting used to the the little quirks and changes, but it's I think it went off well and was wellreceived. Um, and then last week I was over here most of the week for data meetings. Um, those went really well. Positive. I feel like we're in a really good spot. Um, just wanted to put a big thank you out
to Amy Johnson. There's a ton of work that goes into that. Um, our team all had had stuff to do, but she she takes on a lot. So, I think that went really well. uh in the art world. This is a little bit delayed just because of the publication of the of the journal, but there were seven art students that won publication in the celebrating art summer anthropology. Um it's selects the top 25% of art students in the country that they select for publication. So, we just wanted to give some congratulations to current students, uh, Grace Lman, Lwood, Mao, Evan Sorenson, and then some graduating seniors from last year, um, Trevor Stefanic, Eva Running, Mariah Bessard, and Haley Conton. So, that was uh, Miss Grappa showed me the the um, journal, and it was it
was pretty impressive. Um, yesterday, our seventh grade students presented reasons why they were running for student council. They did their presentations, their speeches uh, in the commons. and Sophie were walking through the commons in the afternoon. You got to hear them kind of give their their speech, their elevator pitch on why they were running for student council and then the students fielded questions from their classmates about their platform and why they're running. So that was really cool to see the seventh graders in action. Um as Mr. G mentioned, the three lakes PTO started their book fair over here as well this week. So that started today. Um so those are the the updates that happens. >> Perfect. I'll just share that um we had professional development on Friday and the student support team kind of
did their kickoff to our multi-level systems of support for approaching social emotional and behavioral interventions. So a lot of hard work went into that this summer and so really excited to kind of mirror our work with academics as well as social emotional behavioral And I would build off of that too that I think that the the commitment by the administrative team sitting here and supporting the teachers and um really sticking to our vision and where we want to go. We're tying everything as we always have, but really with again a focused emphasis to our annual goals and then our long range plan. And I think just like we did with school spirit, calling that out has really given it, you know, the credibility and impetus that we really want to keep out there. And don't
get me wrong, it's extremely hard work. It's very hard work. So, I'm sure teachers at times don't feel the love that goes with it, but we're seeing the results and it's definitely the work the the direction we want to go. We are so far ahead. Um, so I'm really proud of this district and the professional staff as well as the admin for the commitment. One other thing I'd like to share is that a celebration I think is coming to the end and we have Jared here with us tonight from Nexus. Um hours and hours into the design and planning phase have been spent by him, his team and our people sitting here, a lot of us and some who aren't here right now. Um to get to this point, we're feeling like now we're at
the we're beyond all the the drawings and I feel like we're going to be moving dirt at some point. So he's going to do a presentation with you. But that is really exciting to to know that we're actually at that point. So when people are asking where are you at, progress is underway and we're going to start seeing some things happening. >> Any other positive happenings? So much. It was so busy. The week after homecoming was just as busy as homecoming. It was like two weeks of everything. We um fourth graders were at the cranberry marsh. That was another one I was thinking of while we were talking. And then we do have conference champions for volleyball and conference champions of girls cross country and two top runners Nolan Waltz and Becca Coach are conference
champs single um individual runners. So it's been a really a lot going on and a lot to celebrate >> and soccer. >> And so are they conference? Well, they don't have conference because they don't have a conference champion but regional play is this. >> Tomorrow. Yeah. Lots going on tomorrow. I just piggybacking on what just said about homecoming. I was kind of on a like spirit where we say spirit high a little bit after that because it it really was felt I think in the building there was a little bit of a difference somehow somewhere. It just felt like there were so many people that came to homecoming. The game was really full. It's neat to see the cheerleaders and they had new uniforms I think this year. So there's a lot of um school
pride that night and that was nice. Anyone else? >> And the homecoming dance at the Raiders Center was one of the best. I thought it was they did a great job. And >> you know, those kids were dancing and having fun, which you know, sometimes is not. >> I totally agree. Number of attendees and participation level of attendees was the best I've seen since. >> Yeah, >> that was very nice. >> I took a video and I went home like this is the most I've seen them dancing. And they didn't all leave right after the >> right >> what do you call it looking I'm like oh they're still there. >> Yeah. >> That's wonderful. >> Cool. We'll see if we keep it here. >> Yeah. >> We like positive at the beginning. >> So
appreciate everyone's input. Um if there's nothing else we'll move into November meeting date. >> Okay. We always hold our November meeting at the sugar camp school. Um that's our plan again this year. We're have the proposed meeting at November 19th um at 6:00 at Sugar Camp and we will take a brief tour. It might be nice just to look at the site again knowing that we have the design plans in place and you can maybe start to visualize a little bit better. Um being that it's not on a this site, we're going to need a motion to approve this. >> Someone make a motion for the November meeting alternate location. I'll make a motion to hold the November meeting on November 19th at 6 PM in Sugar Camp. >> We have a motion by Stacy,
second by Brian. All those in favor of the motion signify by stating I >> I >> opposed. None heard. Motion carries. Next, we move to consider approval of the personnel report. Okay. Under the personnel report, I have the following hirings to share. Emma Sigert, Three Lakes Elementary Parrofessional. Savannah Hines, Sugar Camp Elementary paraprofessional. Eric Shenik, co-coach, junior high girls basketball. And Brian Fritz, co- coach, junior high girls basketball. >> You sure about that last one? >> Another background check. >> Is he sure about that? Thank you, Brian. >> Okay. Is anyone ready for a motion? >> I'll make a motion to approve the personnel report as presented. >> Second. >> We have a motion by Josh, second by Stacy. All those in favor of the motion signify by stating I. >> I. Opposed. Third. >>
Motion carries. That's fine. Well, >> I don't know if that needed to be a part of the record. Okay, next we move to adoption of the original budget. So, this is just a repeat from the annual meeting in the budget hearing. Um, we'll need motions of the budget uh levy and then third Friday in this meeting as well. So, if there are no questions or concerns, we need a motion for budget. A motion to adopt the 2025 2026 budget as presented at the budget hearing. >> Second. >> We have a motion by Stacy, second by Josh. All those in favor of the motion signify by stating I. >> I. >> Opposed. None heard. Motion carries. Next, we move into the levy. I'll make a motion to approve the levy >> as presented at the budget
hearing. >> Second. >> We have a motion by Josh, second by Stacy. All those in favor of the motion signify by stating I. >> I. >> Opposed? None heard. Motion carries. Next, we move to third Friday count. >> Okay, we're going to look at this a little bit. Um Caleb would like to call out a few pointers to you when you take a look at the information. Seeing that we had an uptick in our open enrollment in and less going out, we thought it was important to bring that to your attention. So, Caleb, if you'd like to >> Yeah, sure. So, um if you bring up that spreadsheet, the far right is what we really want to look at. Um, and I'll just give you kind of a quick review of how we calculate it
that FTE. So, it's it's really going to be simplified version is it's going to be our total enrollment um minus those open enrolling kids plus the open enroll. It's not that simple as you can see because um we have some resident reductions that we had to do. Um so when when you do do those that calculation that I just showed uh told you we end up with 495 um residents but in reality what what we'll report is 493 because uh two of those are homeschooled students who are coming in for just a part of the day uh considered in the headcount but not um part of our membership. Um and then uh every every student counts as one FTE um except for uh those um those four Kers those are six. So that's how we
how we end up with that 4 D2 membership. Um and then again I'll just draw your attention to that open enrollment ratio 89 in and 53 out. So when when you do that calculation we just talked about, you can see how um while our enrollment has gone up, the actual membership has gone down. We're just seeing more open enroll in >> this needs action. >> Okay. Correct. Caleb, we need action on our open enrollment >> to the approve or just >> I don't think we do. We just >> Yeah. >> Okay. Anything further, Caleb? >> Anything further on that? Okay. >> Next, we move to consider approval of the Three Lakes High School volleyball team to attend the state volleyball tournament. >> Okay. Well, I was asked to put this up on the agenda um
for you to review. You have a request from um Coach Kinski and you can take a look at it. I don't know, Mr. Zeus, if you were asked to fill in any details with our ad and and all that gone, but >> um I know where they're going and I know that they would hope to be playing and I know that coach Kazinski has some rooms that she would like to book that she would use whether or not we go or not. That that's what I know about it. >> Okay. >> Um I also know there's a component of the trip and I I don't see is there itinerary there? >> Yep. There's a component of it where they would be attending a St. Norbert College volleyball match >> which that I do know a
little bit about. I've been there several times and it would be um super cool for the kids to see that um because they're going to watch a pretty packed I think it might even be senior night. So, it's usually um all the different sports come to it'll be a full gym and they're going to announce all the kids uh always do and it's really super like blue jay prideful to see that two of the six that they announce as starting lineup is are from Three Legs High School. You know, >> it's pretty cool when you hear the rest of the towns that all these kids are from. So, but anyway, I don't want to get too that that's not what this that's a part of the trip, but as a one seed, maybe they're playing
in it and this is the moot point. Um, but I know that um the intention is that they would go down there to see the state tournament whether or not they're playing in it or not. That's the the extent of what I know. >> Um, >> yes. And >> that's what I glean for my kid anyway. Okay. And and I did talk um to Betsy too about it a little bit here. Um again, looking at the exceptional season that they've had, um her thoughts was it would be a great experience to be building toward the future to keep that spirit and pride going with that being a commitment. Um she brought that to the forefront. Um being an unusual request, we haven't had a request like that. She followed the proper protocol and has asked
the board to make that decision and that's why it is in front of you to go ahead and discuss bring up your questions or concerns and uh talk it through >> because it is an overnight. Is that correct? >> It is correct. And I'll just um also in our is it the thank you regarding the other overnight trip that they had um to the Somerset recently and it was very well organized and the girls were very respectful and it was very cool to see them outside these walls representing this school district in such a positive light. and it was um very cool to see personally and yeah, good stuff. >> So I guess a couple of questions that I have is so if I mean obviously this is a you know we're here for school
and this is yet another time it's taking them out of school. I guess you know if obviously this is speaking from a point of if we are not participating in the state tournament um if I mean what about for grades I mean is there any consideration for grades is everybody go that that's a good question um this I was thinking about this trip uh it's overnight so it's a little different that's why it's at the board agenda right um but this is would be real similar where we we could and should, I would say, treat it the same way we do with uh the state ice fishing tournament. Um we've had a few uh wrestlers who who are participating in a wrestling team go to watch their teammates who are participating from uh you know
well either here back when Gus went or um the the Leona kids um golf when we have kids who make it on or or if kids just want to go um and if we're going if we're using any like a van or anything like that um I I remember in the wrestling situation we had to hold a few kids back who weren't we're going to miss school. Uh and we said no because their grades weren't doing well. Okay. Uh and and and when I say that I mean even a little bit more we don't have we don't have policy. We don't have protocol. We do we do have protocol in terms of past practice but if a kid is is not doing well gradewise we talk to the coach and say good not a good
idea to pull that particular kid out of school so they stay here. Right. But most of the things I'm talking about are day trips too, right? That so we would do the same thing. Uh it it it literally takes a minute and 30 seconds for myself or Lisa or Ann to run a grade check on the kids who are on the list. And if we have any uh in anybody that's in C's and D's world, you know, uh maybe they don't go. We would obviously notify parents and things like that so they don't uh it's not a big surprise, but certainly could do that. Um, I would say we should do that, >> right? When you talk about this in school, >> love to see the the team building atmosphere. I I guess um appreciate
coach wanting to do this and take the girls. I guess the one thing that I guess would have liked to see is it and and you know it's I realize it's it's tough but maybe see the entire program go um obviously hard to ask questions but I mean this is something that gives you aspirations you know gives kids goosebumps to be there you know might be might have been nice for everybody to be able to I guess was a thought of mine. Um, you know, as I don't know, I guess what else? What else did I have? Do we know who's paying for transportation? I mean, I I know that a lot of this is being paid or or all of this through the volleyball fundraising. I didn't speak to her specifically about transportation, but
do we have past protocol on this? I would assume that it would be out of the the funds that have been generated and raised. There was no request made for transportation. >> Yeah, I didn't see any transportation come through, which would be the the protocol to get district sponsored buses or vans. >> I didn't see any of that come through for this. >> No. And that's close enough that we would have seen it by this point. I mean, I guess I'm making an assumption, but that has not come through. So, I do not believe that's in the plan. >> So, if this is approved an approved school activity, does it need to be approved school transportation? >> That's >> or are they able to get there on their own? >> I thought we were talking
about >> it says there it says through fundraising activities, we have secured the funds in our activity account to support our hotel and transportation. Mhm. >> So, >> okay. >> Volleyball's covering it all. >> So, the volleyball funds would cover even if it's a school bus that comes from the district. >> Okay. >> Sorry, I missed that. >> But I don't know for sure if that's if it's going to be a bus from the district as we didn't talk about that. >> Yeah, that's not provided >> by a coach bus. >> Yeah, as long as it's provided, I guess. Just making sure. Yeah. >> I guess Josh, what are you talking about the more people? So, are is there more high school students that should join? >> This seems like it's just the V. This
is just the 12 varsity >> and not including >> the program, >> the the rest of the volleyball program. >> Yeah, I guess I would I would openly disagree with you with that. I mean, like the 12 number just seems manageable in a single possible mode of transportation. And I think when anytime you get over that like now now you're talking about like a bus and you know incre increased like sp like I I I think I think that that number seems like to be a reasonable number for something like this with with this within this request. Not like >> they can do other things outside of that. But >> yeah, and I'm not saying that it's a need. I'm just saying it would have been I don't know. It's just if you're talking about
trying to to build build the program and get kids excited, it's more than just varsity. It's the, you know, it's all the way down to freshman, you know, that would like might like to go or or maybe, you know, some upper classmen that might not be on the varsity team that have put in some dedication and might want to go too. And again, it's just a I'm not saying anything as far as objecting to this. That was just a just a thought of mine that I carried. So, um I guess the other thing that I had was does this open this is definitely going to open things up for other programs I would imagine. So, are we >> used to go to the state game? Even if they weren't playing, they would I know Coach
Brown would bring the team or whoever wanted to go. >> But that would that would be on their own though, right? >> They did it I think she did it through school. >> Was it through school? >> I believe so. It's been years since that has happened. But >> so coach >> coach Brown right used to take >> co coach Lby took the girls when our older kids were in the girls basketball program took the girls to state. >> Well I would say this we've got protocol in place if it's an overnight trip and it's not a usual occurrence like there was a wrestling every year event that we just knew was going to happen. So >> Seth still brought it to us at the board level even though he didn't necessarily have to. it
would come before the board. So, you would always have firsthand knowledge in case you had a concern about something in a specific case. I would say yes, there is the possibility that it opens it up to everybody, but they would have to have a plan. They would have to have funding. It would have to come before the board. And again, I I very honestly a few years ago, maybe I wouldn't have been as excited or supported about it because, you know, very frankly, I can live with wherever the board wants the land with this. But we are really trying to do a drive for that school spirit. So, this this kind of builds some of that, too. Again, you know, there's the positives, but then there's a missing of the class time. what's the the
overall benefit when you weigh it together. So that's why you all get to decide. >> I think one of the great things about three lakes is that despite being a small school, we have promoted this environment of spirit and enabling teachers and coaches to think outside of the box and give our students opportunities. We're talking about coaches who are giving larger opportunities to kids from a small school that may otherwise not get those opportunities. I think it's it's good when our when our coaches and our teachers are coming to the board asking for things and and trying to create more opportunities. That's they're doing exactly what we're asking them to do. And I think that's a a great positive in in coming and and making their request >> for sure. And I'm not and I
don't want to take any of that away. I mean, it's like I said, it's it's awesome that the coach wants to organize this and do it. And I just want to make sure that we've got our ducks in a row because of what it could be what it could be tomorrow. Um, and having the great checks in place, you know, because, you know, let's just say this does open up to all of a sudden you've got a three sport athlete now 6 days out of school because of sports. And that doesn't even include, you know, being sick, family vacations, anything like that. it just starts to extend a bit. Um, and I know that, you know, just just something to think about, but again, with the checks in place, I I kind of echo what
Lisa is saying. I mean, in years in the past, they wouldn't have even had to come to the board to do this. You would just do this and pay for it out of your own fundraising and organize a possible, you know, meet up that time and and meet up for some dinner. So if if we're setting a precedent, I encourage that this precedent be continued to be sent set because uh again at least we're aware of it and and we have the ability to pull the plug if things get out of out of whack. Also, we're talking you're talking I mean usually you're talking about as far as missing stu missing school our best students. I would encourage them to miss more school if that's if that's what it takes. They're they're probably stretched too
thin as it is. So, as as a reward and a precedent, I'm I'm on board with this. >> Right. And and again, I wasn't saying that I wouldn't be. It just as long as we have some checks in place for, you know, the unfortunate circumstance where maybe a kid shouldn't be pulled out of school. So, >> yeah. And they and they have to do what they any excused absences. They get their assignments ahead of time and >> they, you know, have to work their butts off over the weekend and get caught back up. And you know, I think the the students are are aware of that and willing to do that because I know there's excitement and everyone's on baited breath waiting for this this uh announcement cuz I I know that >> it's kind
of a side note and it's a little bit in semantics or not semantics but if and this is obviously coming through as a school if it gets approved as a school approved school sponsored trip, we can code in attendance as a field trip. Whereas when the whatever coach says to whatever program players, hey, let's go down to the state tournament and do this on our own. Those are all parent excuse absences. Those count against us on the state report card absence list. So it's actually from from that standpoint uh when when when you can code in there as a field trip that's that's a butt in a seat as far as the state is concerned with regards to they're in a school school related event. >> It would be the same as sending them to
a sporting event to go play against Rashold or whatever. So, not that that matters a whole ton, but that's I I we are worried about the the amount of attendance dings we get from the state. Uh if we code it as a field trip, which we could do if it comes through this school like this, that's actually a good thing. >> That's that's great to know. >> So, is anyone ready? Any other >> I'm ready to make a motion. >> Okay. Unless there's over there. Uh, I'd like to make a motion to approve the request for the Free Lakes High School volleyball team to attend the state volleyball tournament as presented. >> Second. >> We have a motion by Brian, second by Stacy. All those in favor of the motion signify by stating I. >>
I. >> Opposed. None heard. Again, she's not here, but thank you to Mrs. Kinski for putting this together and giving our kids another opportunity. and hope this again is a moot point like was already mentioned and they make it to the state tournament and have to be there anyways. >> So, good luck girls. >> Uh, next we move to Veterans Day program schedule. >> We always like to review the Veterans Day schedule. Um, it's going to be on November 11th this year. There's of course the two separate programs. We'll start out here at Three Lakes and it'll be held in the auditorium at 10:15 and then the afternoon program will be at Sugar Camp in the gym at 1:30 p.m. and in between our veterans generally have lunch here and yes >> um so that's
part of their day >> and the NHS kids will be open. >> Excellent. >> Okay, thank you. Sorry for the delay. Next up, Nexus facility study. >> No worries at all. Thank you, Jared. >> Stay up here for a minute. >> I am. I'm not driving home tonight. My son's chopping at the b. He got an offer to go duck hunting this weekend. So, he's Can you text me, Dad? Call me. We don't have My grandfather was a big duck hunter, but I I don't think much about it. So, I got to get him waiters before the end of the weekend. Oh, well, you know what? >> I'm afraid of you. >> Is it the go team on my 78 basketball team? >> Two, right? >> Yeah. Have to wiggle it back there. There you
go. Come. Here we go. >> There it is. >> All right. Well, thank you for having me. Um, my name is Jared from Nexus. I'm a program manager. So, I've been involved uh with Terry and the district leadership team on kind of a bi-weekly basis with a bunch of phone calls and emails in between those bi-weekly meetings uh to get through the design process of the referendum here at both Sugar Camp and Three Lakes. So, um like Terry mentioned, a lot of progress has been happening. Um want to talk to you just about a quick timeline review. Um, I don't know that you've seen much in the last couple months, but we'll look at the Gant chart again kind of where design is at, where bidding will be at, and where we're planning to be
for construction. Um, we're getting very near that point. Um, and then we'll take a look specifically at kind of the design of Sugar Camp, uh, and the design of Three Lakes. So, we're kind of at a point where a lot of the moving parts have settled down. We're going through a lot of the details. Um, and so we'll go through some of that. Um looking at kind of our schedule and chart here. Um we've been designing pretty much since spring um through the summer and we're kind of hitting that final road here. Right. We're in the middle of October. Uh hoping to have plans for all three of these uh projects uh done on November 7th. That's kind of our deadline for the design teams themselves to kind of have drawings 100%. Um I think
it's a little uh we always love to do this and show uh a bidding process to be immediately like we're done on Friday and they bid it on Monday. Um there is a little bit of period in time there where the construction group who we met with today kind of goes through they're going to do some QC. They have to write front-end specs on kind of how they can organize all the bid packages within it. Um and during that time I'll continue to kind of vet and QC the drawings. will have a few things to catch up just before it goes up to bid. Uh but they're planning to get it out to bid sometime early mid November. Um and then right now it shows that being back, you know, they'll bid it for about
a month. When we get those numbers back, we'll review with with Terry and I I I know we'll come to this group with it, but our construction will come in and review low bids and we can talk about the contractors that bid and that type of thing. um all that process going smoothly, we would be hoping to kind of start um looking today. I think there's some opportunity to do some standalone projects. Um uh the elementary office we kind of talked about uh here at Three Lakes. A couple of those rooms aren't totally being utilized right now. If we can take advantage of some of that during school, that becomes more appetizing to contractors when people are typically either laid off for the winter or they can keep their guys busy. it provides better numbers
for us. So, I think we're going to work on some of those opportunities and if we can get in and start kind of some of those projects early, trying not to be super disruptive to students, but knowing that we can take some advantage there. So, any questions on schedule um sugar camp um so sugar camp site uh a lot a lot is happening around this building. Um, it's fun. In the referendum, we show the new addition. Um, but you start to look at things. Um, one of the one of the major elements here is is we showed a new addition on here. Uh, didn't quite realize that it covers up the existing septic tanks uh to the septic field. So, we'll have to relocate those tanks. So, that's something we're we're going through right now.
Um, the grease interceptor for the kitchen. We're moving that that kitchen. and we're flipping that kitchen and doing some remodel in there. Um, but that grease interceptor will also have to kind of be relocated. Um, some of the other things in here, again, just the additions themselves, outlines, we'll look at those specific at the floor plans here, but we're doing the 4K and cafeteria edition. And then kind of out of that when we started talking secure entry, excuse me, um there was a need where that that kind of secure entrance wasn't working within that that current office footprint. So we went ahead and added a little bit addition for that front office entrance area. Felt there was a need there. Um as a byproduct of kind of those right, we'll end up having to to
redo a little bit of paving within the loop. Um, along with that paving goes to the new playground paving we're doing in back, uh, which will resurface all of that existing kind of hard surface that's deteriorating at the moment. Um, number six on there is a new generator, emergency generator. And so with that emergency generator, um it'll handle all of your kind of typical emergency lighting, but it'll have all of your IT closets, the major kind of uh uh arteries of your building. Um and then we're also adding your coolers and freezers, so if there's a a serious power outage over time, you don't lose all that kind of food, right? um boiler pumps. So, keeping you know the building itself, you know, the the boilers or the the heat will be there, but it's
going to keep that water circulating just so we don't have freeze problems. So, things to to think about with the emergency generator. Uh playground repaving, emergency generator, uh paving for paving and sidewalk for addition. Oh, I think that's where does she have seven? Oh, yeah. just because we're doing this, it's going to encroach a little bit and during construction, right, we still have to get ls and tractors around to to build the facility. So, >> what's the um dotted the the dashed outline >> this year? It it's kind of areas of construction, right? Again, in order to build this, I'm going to have to get tractors around. It's site restoration is what it is. They've got the It's the uh civil engineers way to say, "Hey, when we're done making all these tracks, you need
to come back with some grass seed and some dirt and fill it in and level it all out and you know, >> straw water it a box around the existing driveway that's there." And I was like, "Well, why is >> this like here? >> To your right on the lower." Yeah. Keep going down right by your pinky. >> Oh, here. >> Yeah. I was just like cuz that's a just a driveway right now. >> Oh, yeah. I don't like I don't know if I get the I I'll ask I'll ask Kevin on that. I'm not exactly sure why it it scoots in there like that. I don't know. We're doing some They're going to restripe this too as re one of the things was the French drain, right? That's really not doing anything at the
moment. We don't even we don't know where it goes, right? I think the water goes in there and it just sits and it's meant to kind of seep in, but I don't know that it goes. So the the new drainage that French drain what they're going to do is they're going to they're going to this rip wrap during construction they'll put in but then they'll they'll take this water sheet it off and and it will drain out towards the ice rink and that lower area. So it'll your site's capable of draining that rather than containing it within there. And so we'll kind of do that in more of a proper fashion. system. Um, looking at Sugar Camp as a building, um, the big wow factors are right. We're we're adding on the addition of the
cafeteria and a 4K. Um, there's some mechanical space in here and some new toilet rooms. Um, the other kind of wow is the addition for the front office. We'll look at those a little more closely. Um, a little bit of remodel within the existing office. And then what I wanted to note here is that even though these areas there's not a lot of, you know, flare in there, um, all new mechanical duct work with a variable air system that's going in there. So in doing that, they'll take down the ceilings. They can't do the work without tearing down ceilings. So those will get brand new ceilings that'll go up. Those spaces just as a byproduct of the mechanical work will look pretty new and refreshed. Okay. um rooms near LMC. Uh these breakout rooms currently
there's some windows in there that there's some sound transfer from there to the to the LMC. We're going to infill those windows created more as as as specific breakout spaces from the corridor. Um kindergarten, there's some finishes again through the existing sped kindergarten. Um some flooring upgrades and items like that. A lot of little details that are in the plan. I don't you know if we wanted to do a true page turn at some point or someone was really interested we can look at some of those specifically but um items that we talked about in the referendum but we are handling those now. Um one of the largest things too uh a a sped kind of a shared bathroom between sped and 4K that also has the ability of a shower to help with students
of with that need. >> Can you Oh, never mind. No, keep going. So, looking kind of more at the addition itself, um, this this the the the multi-purpose we're calling it because it'll be used as the cafeteria as well as kind of some open uh open classroom space when it's not being used as a cafeteria. Um, there we went through what two or three renditions with this kind of back and forth trying to get things in order. um referendum drawings never account for a mechanical room and a new air handler unit and some of those utilities. So, kind of getting around that. Um we tried to get as much as we could within here. Um one of the things we showed in referendum was a changing room in this gym storage. However, because of the
existing gym unit, the gym HVAC unit, which wasn't slated to be replaced, um it got really difficult to put those rooms in there. So, kind of through some conversation, we figured that that could be utilized as gym storage much better than trying to utilize this. Um, a lot of your kitchen serving uh deliveries would come in. They can come through the double doors. They wanted a set of doors to kind of come through here so they could kind of unload and put a lot of that dry storage right as they come off of the of the parking lot. Um, new cooler and freezer. Right now, I think they're the same size. They want some larger space within the freezer. They have more freezer goods than they do cooler goods. Um, we did rework as we're
flipping this kitchen. Um, and the new kind of serving here, uh, it works out with the addition to do some outboard serving, which gives them some more space and functional move space within here. Um, Steve Stern, who is from Belter, who's our kitchen designer, uh, came up with some efficiencies. I think currently they use a you have a a nine or a 10 10 burner range. I think they only I mean they don't need 10 burner range at this point. So we're going back to like a six burner range which opens up some room for another combi oven items that they'll use more on a daily basis. Um new dishwashing station. Um not much has changed in there other than flipping, but according to the staff there that that's that's comfortable. It works well. Um
so we didn't do a whole lot. There wasn't a lot of room to expand there, but >> they're they're good with the space. >> Yeah, >> they are. >> Yeah, they are. We had Sarah as a big part of this and of course Jack and Steve as well and me cuz I kept bringing up you know that how congested we are. I think that outboard serving like you said really gives us a lot of opportunity and flexibility as well. >> So they were totally behind it. >> Okay. Yeah. Yeah. We sat with Sarah in a couple different meetings um to get her feedback. So, not not trying to design without her, but that feedback was important. And she had some comments. I think originally we were going to block up the door to the corridor.
They use that for some things. So, it was kind of a little bit of back and forth. So, um couple new just individual user toilet rooms off off of that addition. Um 4K 4K addition here. You'll need because of occupancy, you need a second exit. Uh that door will be there, but it'll be it it will not. it's used as an emergency exit, won't be a necessarily a playground access. Um, have its own toilet room and have a small storage within 4K. So, um, one of the I would call it an unfortunate thing, but excuse me, so you're prepared for this when it gets built, um, is that when we add a new building on top of an existing building that isn't currently fire sprinklered, I have to create by code two three-hour firewalls. Um,
personal opinion, I think it's ridiculous. It one three hour is what it's supposed to be. But because of that, and we have a wall against a wall, um, you'll see we've got the door that goes into 4K will actually be a a fire rated door. It can remain open, but if the fire alarm is pulled, it'll release and have to close. But then what I what I disagree with, and we've pushed the state on, so you guys know we're trying to kind of be efficient with our design. Um but they're forcing us we have to put in a fire shutter on the other opening side so that if that were to happen it can it can be closed or in that instance. So um because they have the exit out the back. So there's a
couple of those. Same within the uh the lunchroom. They're making us do a fire door on one side and a shutter on the other. Um, so it's I'm trying to push against that, but again, I can only ask the state so much before they are going to get annoyed. So, just something to be aware of. But, um, front office at Sugar Camp here. Um, we kind of went through some renditions of trying to utilize the existing front office to try to find a way to have somebody buzz into a vestibule and then be into a main office where they then would be secure before they enter the building. Um, that was extremely kind of difficult within the existing space. And so what we've done is we've taken and put a small addition here that creates
a student waiting area where students can come. We were trying to kind of create that area up here. Um here now it's more visible to that bus loop or that front front loop. Um you would enter into a a kind of secretarial office. Um check in here and then they would buzz you out into the school. Um the series of doors seems like a lot. This is going to be another code issue. These doors here would remain open all the time. The ones right here um those would be on hold opens in case a fire alarm went. they would close this door would be your secured your secured lock and along with these here um you would get buzzed into the vestibule go into the office then get buzzed out to the rest of the
school. So kind of two points of of of check. Um through my eight years at Nexus, this is a pretty common scenario for for um secure entrance, right? I think the the big question is whether you allow people into the vestibule before they get checked in. You know, can I come in out of the rain? Most of your public, general public comes. I want to get out of the rain. Um you'll see in a minute we have an awning so they can come and check in from there. um the existing office. We actually left most of those rooms in place. Um we added a small uh health room here. Uh we're going to add some walls to create that small health room, but remain with a kind of an ancillary office, the toilet room, and
then the I believe the existing principal office that is now right becomes a counselor's room. Uh which sounded like it was a much needed space. So >> the current work room and the principal office combined together. >> Yes. Yeah. Oh yes. Yep. Yep. Yep. >> So that puts the counselor has access then to the main wings of the building in a central space. Um this image comes in really grainy so I apologize. Um but we are looking at some branding. Um been working with Jen a little bit. Um sugar camp's kind of set back. Remind me of the highway. Is it highway 70? >> Um of highway 17. So talking about doing some and I don't know that we've settled on this. We're still kind of working on on what makes sense, but doing some
branding here and then a little bit of branding over what would be that existing or the new kind of main entrance there. Um, and then following that, just kind of a side view of the cafeteria that allows quite a bit of natural light to come in. Um, these are actually sun shades. Uh, this one, this one might actually be solid, but the other ones are sun shades and a way to just kind of reduce that, but won't have a bunch of of snow loading. Um, but from that space, we'll let a lot of natural light in and do that. So, That's kind of most I have on sugar camp. Any questions on sugar camp itself? >> Could you go back to the first uh outline image kind of the >> like the main one? Yeah,
like the full building >> one more back. >> Just the one where we show the driveway. Okay. >> Oh, yeah. I was just I was thinking in my head that that turn that the buses make right where the new entrance would be would be tight for the oncoming buses but it looks like there's really not not you're not giving up any driveway there. >> It'll maintain it'll we'll tear it up during construction like the curb but we're putting it back in place and there is this yeah there'll be the same turning radius that they have now. Um there was enough room to kind of pull that building out. So they I believe we're >> we're safe there from that regard. Um I would say I did a board presentation in Marshfield uh a couple weeks
ago. One concern there as we talk about that was what if someone drives through the front and try to rams the building. Um I would say if if that's a large concern, we could find some way to do some ballards or some planters there. But um historically that's not a >> tactic. >> I mean historically, right? I mean I don't you don't see that very often. Um that not to say that it's it's all glass and the mullions aren't exactly, you know, >> truck proof, but they'll stop. I mean, a vehicle is not going to go far into there. So, um where I'm going with this is is Marshfield was requesting us to do some ballards and such, and that made a board member, uh feel a little more comfortable with this. I would say
you're you're pretty limited to do that. Um, picture the target balls or something. Otherwise, it's kind of the quick trip big yellow post which can kind of deteriorate that. So, it's there is some function behind it, but if it's not a large motivation, I would at this I I I don't want to say I would encourage you not to do it, but I it's kind of a choice. But there's enough room for the turnaround. Um, I'll jump forward here. I'll talk three lakes. Three lakes site plan. We are still working through um athletics and and and concessions. I don't want to say that that is kind of the last ticket on our list, but it's been um it's for the most part a lot of it is self-explanatory. Uh the irrigation system on the football
field, we're working through that. Um I don't think I have a final layout. Um but was some discussion of with the new concessions building, does it make sense to put in an irrigation hydrant and continue to use your existing water um water wheel they would call it. um that probably it's still a lot of a lot of maintenance and a lot of time to maintain that water wheel and move it around for everywhere that the irrigation system continues to make sense. I think because we already have to run an irrigation line over there, we're going to still put in a hydrant which allows that wheel to continue to be used as needed, right? So, kind of not necessarily getting rid of your old stuff, giving you some new irrigation, but also allowing you to continue
to use that as needed, maybe on your side fields and some other areas. Um, the track resurfacing itself, um, again, pretty self-explanatory. Um, I I don't remember I don't remember the name of the company that resurfaced it many years ago or is very familiar with it. Um, but we've been working with them and that's I think that's going to be a pretty that does not seem to be super heavily detailed. Um, I don't have the full plan on that yet. Um, as far as parking, >> it's going to be more than just a resurface. I mean, it's going to be tear out and repave, right? >> Uh, I will confirm with that. I'll make sure it is. Um, I believe that's what's in there, but I I haven't I haven't seem to know, but that's
a very good note. >> Well, the crack that's on the the souththeast end going through there. I mean, it >> it needs to be fixed. Almost has to There almost is no fix. >> That's a great He's a paving expert, by the way. So, I like seriously. So, >> I work for the company and put it in. Oh, >> that put in the remind me the company >> and wick >> that paved it. >> Okay. >> That did the paving. >> Oh, did the paving but not the surfacing. Let I >> I will check, but remind me at our next meeting to check with Kevin to make sure that that's happening. So, I I we haven't seen a whole lot of detail on it yet. I just know what's been happening and Kevin's who are
civil engineer has assured me it's it's that way, but let me verify that. So, that's a very good point. Um, as far as the the athletics parking, um, we've seen some some good renditions from Kevin. However, I didn't have a good plan to show it on, so I just did kind of a sketch here. So, excuse the parking lines, but it it tells the concept. Um, we talked in, I think in referendum, it showed one inlet, a large parking lot, and then that was kind of in and out. Um, there's not a lot of space there without kind of getting into the trees. And so at that point it makes sense to make it directional one way in do some angled parking. Um I think we're still in air over the angled parking or whether
it could be straight parking. It just depends on the amount of stalls we can get in. Um but then having an outlet there. Um we would continue to do a path around connecting to your existing path. Um and then put that into a concessions building that would reside over here on kind of the west side. um some additional paving around that concessions and we'll look at the concessions building here specifically. Um but there was a request and kind of the need to do some ticketing for for those events. Um that it would help and allow you to host some I think regional or sectional type events where where kind of that that barrier is needed. Um in concessions placement we've talked a lot about where that goes. I think in the referendum you had it
in a couple different spots. It could go over here on the east side as well. Um, after looking at that, there's no sanitary out here. There's no sanitary anywhere over here. So, by the time we go to move that further away, it starts to become a big cost issue of trying to pump sanitary. Um, there's a sanitary line over here that that Kevin has investigated to make sure that we can get gravity fed to that. So, we shouldn't have to do a pump or a grinder station. Um, so there's advantage there. and then what it sounds like and I don't know with the new parking but again majority of your fans at this point seem to come from the main parking lot here and from the kind of the northwest. So um I guess through
discussions that seem to make the most sense on where it is. Um the building itself uh we are working with a company called Huffcut. Um it will be essentially a a pre-cast concrete type building. Um it'll last the test of time. It's they do the kind of park buildings all throughout the country. Um but you see a lot of them around the state. So um in the concessions building itself, you would get a decentiz concession area. Uh we're kind of anticipating two windows for concessions. One as we orientate the building would become more of that ticketing area. Um getting two large storage buildings. They actually come in kind of prefab drop buildings. And so that's why you kind of see the double wall. We've talked about adding a door between or an opening between. That's
a possibility. But kind of working through that um those two storage areas, you can kind of see I grade out what was a toilet room. We kind of shifted that down to the to the west side so that both rooms are accessible more from the grandstand kind of in and out from that direction. So would give you as as my wife and my grandfather would say a a threeholeer for each if you're familiar with outouses. Um so I I think it's a decent building. Um Huffcut gives you some kind of cookie cutter buildings. We the one that uh Dave Kirby was really good at looking through their library and seeing what they had. And then I kind of pressured him. The one building that we were looking at was a little on the higher end
of things. So, we were able to kind of take a section out, move and rotate to kind of make it work within budget. So, I think this building gives you a again meets a lot of the needs of what's out there. So, >> the storage store old coach uh the storage buildings could double as locker rooms, I'm hoping, assuming. >> Yeah, >> especially in tournament time when that becomes pretty valuable >> or it's pouring rain or >> Yeah. So, we we we've talked about that. Um, you know, a building big enough to kind of truly be that size starts to get up there and cost quite a bit. And so, this is, you know, can you put a team in there? We kind of joked a little bit internally, you can put offense on one
side, defense on the other. But, I mean, if we were to put a an opening, you'd get >> I KNOW WE HAD WE had that conversation. We need their own. >> We had that conversation as well. So, um, so yeah. Yeah, it has some ability there. Where is where is the property line that is up in this corner? I mean, I just >> I don't know. I I just see a problem with that parking lot because you're going to have people come in there and they're not going to walk all the way over, especially the visiting team. They are not going to walk all the way over to the ticketing ticketing booth. >> They're moving. >> There's not going to be a spot for them to sit over there. >> They're moving bleachers and putting
>> visiting. There's going to be another chunk of bleachers coming into the south of where the existing bleachers are. >> We talked a bit about flow of traffic. So, there's also going to be fencing to herd people basically. But I think that um signage is going to be super important here too that we're >> identifying areas where people are going because we're have to train them where to go. >> Well, I think we had the discussion right kind of kind of wow that seems kind of a long way for visitors to walk and then we started to kind of do just some calculations of here to here to here to here to here. Yeah, it really it really isn't. Isn't >> that if anything it might even be less. >> And that hike compared to
the average football place we go to play at or soccer for that matter too. This walk is minimal. >> Correct. >> Like some of the places we play, you're you're hiking for a long ways from your parking spot to where the stands are. >> Yeah, that's pretty common. >> Even I mean even up in Eagle River, they have the sheared you can walk I mean twice as far, right? >> Yeah. >> I mean that's a simple one to communicate to. I think when we did that trivia night thing, I paced out from our parking lot out to there and it was like 1300 steps or something like that. But you could easily do a comparison like that and tell people like this is how far you're walking. This one's this way. You know, if you
real >> you could do some fun some fun stuff. >> 1300 steps to a good point. Like if you had pedestrian traffic up around there >> Well, I think like we just got done with pumpkin fest here, right? Look at the parking for that. They do a really good job of filling all of our lawns with vehicles. This offers another opportunity for parking. Not, you know, six blocks away on the streets, but a chunk of parking where they're not in the lawn. >> Correct. >> Um, two things out of that conversation. One was bleachers. Um, the the measure was to add bleachers. Um, and originally, right, we're like, oh, let's put it on the visiting side. I think through discussions, it makes more sense, right? put it just some additions to your main bleacher set.
Um, we're working uh, this is something we'll probably try to coordinate. I don't think that'll be in the biddable documents. We're going to work with the bleacher company that's already there and talk to them about how we would extend that. So, the things we'll have to get in the drawing are the footings or some some situte footings that are there. We want to make sure we get those in order. U, but the bleacher itself, we'll just work specifically with that bleacher manufacturer. Try to get something that looks cohesive, right? Rather than the the stepchild bleachers that's off to the side. Is there is there any talk I so we right now the concession stand is underneath the the booth right so obviously if that's going to be relocated is are we trying to remodel that
space and you know I mean purpose it for I mean again I'm thinking take one of the storage buildings away from that and storage sections and put that room underneath >> where the concession stand is now and that frees up a spot there >> the conversations we've had with we haven't gotten to that detail yet at all >> and I don't I don't I I would say From a nexus perspective, from like the budgeting, I that's not something we would have anticipated. Um, from a experience in codewise, >> I I don't want you to tell me you're going to put anything under the bleach. I mean, I know it's already there, but the second it goes to the state, holy cow, do they >> I mean, they they make a sprinkler if they do that.
Yeah. And that's >> Yeah. Whatever you guys do or maybe Yeah. when the general contractors here and and Eric Radkkey who will be your site superintendent. Um I would assume you guys will get to know Eric and Chris uh Chris Chris Leton um you know might be a little nudge to them. Hey Chris, can you get me a price to just kind of can we look at with the general contractor and see what we can do with this space if we need to? That would be my recommendation. Um avoids a little bit of state work but get there. We haven't talked about that specifically. Um, another item on there was the elementary parking to try to add parking. Um, when you said where is our property line, uh, that is something that has come up.
Uh, I'll get to that point. Um, there's not a lot of room here, especially once you start adding parking islands and those types of things. Um, so in order to gain more parking and then again still kind of to do a a truck radius for deliveries and those types of items as people are parked there. There's some uh this is kind of an early on uh calculation for that. Um, but it makes sense to remove the actual islands go in kind of do some again rotational traffic. It adds a couple spots within here. But then the the other thing was to add some parking along I can't remember what road that is but um to add just some angled parking there. Um we are really struggling to get dumpsters and the generator set. I mean
there is a lot of stuff that happens in this area. So to try to add parking in there has been somewhat difficult. But we've been able to kind of again add some spaces here. I I don't have an exact number of ad. I should wish I would have had that for you. I apologize. Um >> we'll probably have to get approval from the town on that, right? Because that's all curbed. >> Well, >> there when we get to that. Yeah. Dave has been right on it with us and everything. So, I'm not too worried about that. >> Yep. Yep. And that was the discussion. Yeah. We're coming up the city street. They have to be okay with that angled parking. Uh sometimes cities aren't great with that because backing out of angled parking isn't always
the the greatest for oncoming traffic. But um I think that's a pretty low traffic area. Um when we start talking uh uh property lines, uh this is something that did come up is there is no civil plat or survey map that we've been able to find through GIS that tells us that that those driveways or that easement that runs down to those driveways, uh we we believe that's all school property. Um, so the question originally was where are we going to kind of stop and continue paving? Um, and so at some point it may make sense to I don't know if it's worth communicating to those neighbors. I I don't know why they would, hey, we're going to pave a portion of your driveway or you guys could say and it's not necessarily their driveway,
but it is this path that comes up along here. So, um I think it is again trying to sketch it out. Um I believe you own most of that kind of easement there and up. So, >> yeah. And and that was before I knew about the bleachers thing, but my thought was if we could get rid of most of those trees and make more parking there rather than over >> here, you mean? >> Yeah. But >> I >> So that was a totally >> I don't think you I can that I haven't looked at because I don't it was never really part of the original plan. But um >> I mean it's Yeah, we wouldn't be able to. It comes down it's right here. It comes down it comes from >> it comes down >>
halfway through it and then over to the house. So yeah, that would never Yeah. >> I mean there there is some room but then we'd have to get rid of that building. >> Yeah, correct. And I think you use that bill and Dave uses that. >> Yeah. >> Anyways, but yeah, no, with the the bleacher thing solved the reason I was thinking that. >> Okay. Okay. >> So, that's kind of the athletics portion of it. Um, Three Lakes, the building itself. So, no major additions here. Um, the only addition that was kind of proposed was a large canopy addition. Um and then we'll talk about kind of through conversations uh where that has fallen. But uh secure entries at the elementary school, secure entries at the uh junior high senior high office, uh secure entries
through uh the district office here. Some ancillary space remodel. Um kind of taking the existing wrestling room, turning that into a large group instruction area. uh modifying some some sped rooms with within um the the the kind of the expansion rooms off of LMC. Uh some bathroom remodels and I would say this breakout space and some bathroom addition um wrestling has to go somewhere. So again that spinning room kind of consumes that there. Um and then concessions, right? Doing kind of a a formal concessions building within here. So looking at elementary kind of secure entrance, secure office, currently this is your your elementary office. So in order to get students in, they would have to come completely through the building. They're already kind of into that space. Um taking the adjacent classrooms, uh adding a
door through the vestibule where these doors then would remain locked. um allowing people to come in, be buzzed into that main office and then be buzzed out provided they needed to be into the main building out here. Um through that you'd get a kind of a main front desk, a little bit of seating area. Um you get uh kind of a a back of house principal um psych and a conference room. Um, some printer area here. Some potential uh, we call it ISS, an elementary school. It's probably not more in school suspension, but a a place where a student could sit and work uh, and and still be supervised kind of through front office and through principal. Um, you get a decent health room here, um, where you would have the ability for two potential
CS and an adjacent uh, uh, toilet room. We're making utilize of the existing toilet rooms. So, we're not having to remodel those or put in a bunch of uh ingrown plumbing uh to do that. We take advantage of that space. So, um you get a small sped breakout room or another sped room there. I believe it's kind of already being used that way, but through there um the existing office itself, again, trying to to with this expansion, this grew a little bit in scope. So trying to minimize the scope that needed to be remodeled here. We talked through um one thing that makes sense is as you'll see um we're we're taking this boardroom and consuming this with the district office to make better supervision from the parking lot and from a secure entry point
of view which then makes this room kind of move to a a large open board room which would be now over by the elementary is the plan. Um, doing that would allow you, there's already some plumbing over here in a toilet room. It allows a credenza to be over here, so you could do coffee and water, something similar to that. Um, and then you'd have kind of a private bathroom if people needed to use it within the boardroom itself. looking at the district office, the space we're in now. Um the challenge there was to kind of get in kind of come over um you know through through that that vestibule area. Um I'm trying to remember the large motivation to to kind of push everything down. Uh a lot of it was supervision uh out.
Um, but again, kind of taking advantage of this door here, creating a small vestibial that comes in with a a more of a a front desk here and a small conference room within um within the uh district office and then going with uh Caleb's office and and again keeping file room and that type of stuff, but the office is here. Um, is that concessions itself? Um, taking the current kind of coach storage, table storage, um, turning that into more of a concessions building or a concessions room. Um, adding in a roller shutter. Um, there's already kind of I'm trying to think of what we're doing there. Why was that open? >> It's the low Isn't it a lower counter table something? Did we talk about doing a >> like an ADA transaction table? Um, yeah.
And you could also see the display, right? Yeah. Concessions. You could see candy. You could see whatever. >> Oh, that's what You're right. You're right. Yes. Opening it up. I think there might actually be an open in the wall, but you could put essentially a a glass thing there so people could kind of see items and pick items. Um, >> and then the corner. >> Yeah. And then the corner trying to create kind of a small that that corner proved to be just not a great utilized space for anything within concessions, but it makes a great I I would call it like a shadow box or a display box. So um schools are always trying to create kind of a school store um in a concessions like this. It's hard to have a student store
and concessions, but this would allow you to display some t-shirts, uh you know, sweatpants, those types of things that you know, maybe some school color, school items of that. Um, and so it allows you to kind of have a glass front there to display some of that. And then through concessions, you could, you know, again, have some some boxes of shirts and those types of things where you would pick out sizes and be able to share that. So, uh, junior high, senior high, um, office. Um this is this is that where we were originally proposing adding a large canopy out front. I I I think in in initial design, we started talking um what was the motivation of the large kind of canopy out front and it was uh one to kind of I think
the large motivation was to call attention to what is kind of on the front of your building a quiet junior high senior high office, right? I think everyone kind of comes and they navigate to to this entrance rather than that junior high. So, um, I think the question was, well, do we really need an enormous canopy or do we just need to somehow take what we've got existing and make it more apparent. Um, and so you'll see that that they're going to we're going to do some things to the existing canopy, but then modify some of this space here, um, through some secure entrance to what would be the the fitness center, which I believe the community uses uh, quite regularly. uh still creating doors to kind of pass through on those event nights or
or nights that those are just open. Um through a daily basis that would be closed and creating more of a community um parent entrance during the day into a secure vestibule uh specifically for the front office of the high school. um taking advantage. This is a lot of space, but still kind of trying to keep the copy there. And then reworking a little bit of again principal, athletic director, guidance and conference, kind of getting a a secondary admin kind of student services desk uh within that space as well. Small small nurse room um within there. So, >> and the change on that one too is to the student traffic coming into that door versus coming in through the front office and leaving through. >> Yeah. Yep. And then even the the the lobby, right? I
think the discussion kind of went through where was the we had this large lobby that's open to the rest of the building at night, students waiting for parents, um you know, teams coming back from a sport, where do they kind of hang out and wait to be picked up? Um, that was also kind of the conversation of do we really need this large canopy or can they wait here? So, we've again kind of secured that off. So, at night this would be lit up. You'd have all of this up front kind of lit up where people could wait um but still be cordoned off from the rest of the building. >> I guess I just like question behind the thought behind the the design. I think interior is it's excellent if we're gonna do anything.
I So again, rem back when we started started this process, one of the main complaints that we got was nobody knows where to go in. So by leaving that giant awning out in front, and excuse my language, but it's it's an eyesore and it's ugly as it is. And you you said you probably have some renderings you're going to chip it up, make it make it pretty. um it's still just as unless there's like a a drastic reduction in that I still think that causes confusion and that's again that's just my my feeling from the feedback that we got when we started this process. So anyway, >> the confusion of explain a little bit confusion that it's >> where you pull up right here and you don't know like again I know because of years
you go there and I still still to this day I want to park right there and walk into the high school office and I do I did that just today to come into cuz I'm going to coach in the in the small gym. Well, that's not really the way I should be coming in. I should be coming in this way and then working my way around to the small gym. But that's that's from somebody who's been here 20 some years. Imagine somebody the first time that's what they see. >> Sure. Sure. So, you're saying you'd rather have this be the focal point >> of where to come in? I thought the high school >> we I thought that's where we landed nine months ago. >> I don't know if the drugs and where we're going
to go at the front. >> Yeah. I I >> I think that this >> Yeah. Well, don't actually I'll tell you what. Why don't we just go >> Let's do that. So, doing something more to the high school to make that more apparent. But I think that's the opposite of what your >> Yeah. So that still says to me, "Come in here. Come in here." >> So what we I had Jared in one meeting that we did, I wanted to look at this like on a photo of the building to look at context of the building and we had some discussion about it too because that was one of my worries was that if we're doing a main where is our main entrance, right? Yeah, >> if we're doing some over here and saying this
is athletic entrance and this is whatever then this is still high school whatever and it would carry >> some we've talked about possibly logo up on the wall up here too like >> of sugar camp. Yeah. >> Yeah. So we're trying to think of it in in the whole not just as an entrance but how does it fit into the whole building and how do all those entrances work together. So that is a concern and it is um a topic I guess to talk about and talk through because this still >> yeah is a little bit in flux. >> I mean I think the aesthetic here is excellent but it again like if we reduced that and put more emphasis over here I I just feel visually it encourages you to go here and like
oh that's the high school. Got it. But that's not the entrance. >> See I never I never took that away. I I still always took that over there as being the main school entrance and like like she was saying, you know, if you were to just the labeling of the entrance, you know, high school entrance, athletic entrance of or some sort of naming that way. I think that's going to paint the picture. >> I would say in the general flow of the day, you'll have 10 entries to maybe one from here to there. maybe even more 15 or 20 because for the day work this is really businessoriented where most people are coming for junior high high school stuff. So I I I started where you're saying because wasn't it me who said wait a
minute wasn't the >> it was you. Yeah. >> I mean I did talk about it in our meetings and >> this is where they got to >> just so like during the day I don't think there's any issue like I existing I don't I think it's after hours when we're not in school you still see the majority of people park here going for an athletic event go to that door first. So we we toyed around then with bringing in this type of a design over onto here but labeling you know having that same font or whatever and then calling it >> athletic entrance or arts and athletic right you've got the theater over here >> and a lot of places have >> athletics and events >> is there some sort of physical need where we
need to have this this that prominent overhang over the high school >> I think that right now it's it doesn't look like an entrance at all period. So I there is a need for it to come up and to do something. Um I think what's really going to help too is to be able to see the whole building, you know, >> and I didn't bring that I didn't bring that image up. Um, I think through our discussions, this has been kind of a I wouldn't call it a hot topic, but a priority topic over the last kind of two, three weeks here where we've had a few meetings. One with the architects who who generally kind of again think within an architectural box and then from from Jen's perspective and kind of how how do
we brand this and how do we call them out? Um, so we've been working on this. I I would say a little bit of our discussion late last week as we looked at what what I we'll call the event entrance over here versus the high school for for just some posterity. But um in general of the buildings I've worked on, we spend a lot of time calling entrance to that high school entrance prominently over other entrances. I would say that's more typical of what I see. Not to say that it needs to be it can't be different, but following suit with Jen, I think that the referendum itself called for a canopy or something at the at the high school entrance, or at least that's the the direction I was given to start. If that
becomes the priority, and I don't think we want to prioritize that and leave this alone, but I think through conversation looking at it, I think you still do something here that really calls this out as the high school entrance. But I think maybe what we need to do is focus on here and and do something similar where you've got similar entrances. Um I think some of the conversation was the crab apple trees out front to hide a lot of of kind of that kind of deal. I I according to Dave, they are quite maintenance at this point. There's been a lot of you know just maintenance with them. I think some of them are dying, some of them aren't, but they're they're a lot. So we talked about kind of getting rid of that. And
if we do that and add something similar to this to that kind of 45 degree entrance and call it out, I think there's some opportunity there. Um Okay. Sorry to derail us. >> No, I think that's right in conversation with what we've been talking about. >> Yeah, that's exactly in line with what one of the issues was that um that was making me feel a little bit on edge about um this insurance too. Um, I think that what I'm feeling better about, so the way that this is structured right now too, that top of this is going to be a like basically a sign company doing it. We're also um I mean, so it wouldn't be permanently. It could be changed. It's not part of the structure necessarily. That's probably putting it very correct generously.
What we're we're proposing is is is in here from from a structural architectural perspective, what architecture is concerned about is we want a watertight facade, right? We don't want to we don't want to do a bunch of layering with with the facade that that compromises that over years. So, I think what we're proposing is metal panel with some some concrete masonry on the bottom for for lawn maintenance and that that that doesn't get beat up. But nice metal panel here. And then the structure itself will actually kind of behind the scenes be a square structure and then through a sign company will then layer on top of that to give it that kind of three-dimensional feel. Uh we'll put in some electrical for some backlit signage and back lit lettering. Um that'll make that pop.
I would say if that's something that's priority over here, we'll want to make sure we get some electrical into that as well. Um, and then potentially work on kind of what what do we do over here? >> Yeah. So, the continuity might come in like as you're seeing like sugar camp up on that wall over here. If it's now on this wall over here and we're using that wave here and we're using it at Sugar Camp and maybe at the athletic fields, it comes into a sign out there. Like you're going to start seeing it add up as a whole. Um, but you you did you're you're asking very valid questions. Very valid. >> You know, I think even as even something as simple as like what's on church camp, you know, if it's home
of the Blue Jays or something and that that goes up on the gym, I mean, that's going to for events that is going to instantly draw your attention that oh, that's the gym. >> Yeah. Or house or athletics or they have it at Pines like the >> Yep. And also know like we these are these renditions aren't like set on fonts or anything like that. Those are like details that are still and the colors are, you know, so don't get too hung up on fonts and colors and stuff like that. >> What we'll put in the bid documents is the general contractor to work with a sign company. Final approval of sign needs to be done through, you know, you know, as those products are selected, but they'll have a they'll have a budget for
that. I would say from a a nexus perspective and a referendum and kind of trying to stay within budget, right? Um if if we kind of look back at Sugar Camp, um Sugar Pank Camp originally was slated to have the one edition for cafeteria and and 4K that the front office edition kind of came as here's an absolute need that has to happen out of that. And so we originally kind of reduced the size of the the cafeteria commons to make, you know, kind of rob Peter to pay Paul, right? Keep us within budget. Um we kind of took 1,000 square foot, put it over there. We tried to keep it at like 800 square foot. That ends up being about 1,000 square foot. Uh we reduced this addition not quite by 1,000 square feet.
So we didn't quite rob Peter to pay Paul. So then through the design process it was like well hey I we don't want to reduce something and we definitely can't take something out of what was proposed in the referendum but we need to be somewhat conservative. So again talking through a large canopy here didn't make sense. But as I'm talking through this when we start saying hey we really need to do something over here. Um, I'm trying to maintain a budget. I I don't, you know, I can't tell you that that doing that canopy is going to cost another, you know,$10,000 or $20,000. I would have to kind of go back and and sharpen my pencil and look and talk to to Brian Winterly and some of our development engineers to see what we could
add in there. But, um, where I'm going to kind of go back and forth is I, you know, I almost want to bid this and then see if we have extra money to do that. Um, but I don't know how to tell you, you know, if that's what you want to do, if we come in exactly on budget, finding money to do that will be the question. And Jen even brought up too, like, wow, really be nice as we're adding the elementary to do something similar on the elementary to kind of again bring some cohesiveness with the kind of swoop in the arc through sugar camp through here through the elementary at three lakes. So, um, I don't know what to say beyond that other than if we do this kind of to do that,
just knock on wood, I'm cautiously optimistic where I feel like we're on budget. Um, I've sent what we have out to a third party to kind of give me budgets back. I don't have them back yet. So, I haven't quite got the the touchy feel good that we're we're right on target. We're under. I've again, knock on wood, I don't want you to be the one that I am over, but on my jobs, I've been pretty successful at being on or under uh where you have at least, you know, at least a little bit extra when the time is done. So, other things to consider too would be um interest earnings based off of that referendum is something that we haven't calc, but say we come in on budget, maybe some of that interest earnings
goes toward that. Um, if I go back just uh I think we talked about high school there. Uh, again just some of those ancillary spaces. Uh, this is not the real fancy uh portion of it. But again, reworking uh some existing toilet rooms to be again modernized uh automatic flush valves, those types of things, handwashing stations, uh, ADA accessible stalls. Um, so that's happening down here towards I believe middle school area, right? Um, or no, that's still high school. Uh, but then adding over here there's a corridor that runs through. Um, that is not code required. So, we can take some of that space, add some gym storage. Uh, there is some required mechanical space within there that we'll have to maintain. There's an old mechanical room that isn't being utilized that works great to
to add in a set of of toilet rooms. I I just looked at this and noticed this. That is a really goofy entrance into that. So, please ignore that. I think there's some a little stuff missing there that we've got a I think Tom and Abby are I know they're working on it, but I looked at that. I'm like, that's not that's not going to work. So, that that I think is just unfinished yet. And then adding a small breakout room. You can see there's some kind of borrowed light into the corridor. Um uh as far as kind of the breakout room, existing wrestling room, it was just again creating a space that's kind of welcoming from the corridor. So there's some borrowed lights between there. Um and so you could get a class, a
class and a half, two classes within that space to kind of have a larger, again kind of breakout space or large group instruction. uh special ed uh just creating some sensory rooms within a larger special ed room. Um not a lot that really has to happen within that space. It'll add a couple walls and then again some finishes and those types of items. So, >> can we leave the 1960s look in that bathroom? >> Which one? This one? >> Yeah, that one. Yeah. >> Can't I I mean, >> I I would rather you tell me. Can we leave the uh the uh pastel pink tile around the hallways? Are we not? No. No. >> No. Um that that that is a discussion we kind of started this past week. Um I much to my dismay,
it's my fault, a little a little too late. Um but there are some decisions we have to make there. I think we're kind of going back the original proposal on that. uh we work with a a miracle method which is kind of a resurfacing or epoxy coating on that would allow us to kind of paint is not a great term but kind of paint the tile. It is pretty durable. Um although as we kind of went through some discussions I I think it was like turned out that it wasn't so durable and I'm like well I mean we've been applying that for many years and it's I think it's a durable product but there there's been some issues. I think by the time we recode all that that price, uh, we talked about some fancy
FRP kind of, uh, acrylic panel. So, you essentially could go over the top of it with an acrylic panel. Um, the architects, we proposed that the architects kind of pushed back and said, well, that's it. It it kind of isn't very classy looking. I think there is some opportunity to have some higher products that do look good. Um really after talking it through, I don't know that we've talked about this as a DT group. It may just make sense to scrape it off and put a new large format tile in its place. Um I don't know what that does for branding like large branding colors. Like I think part of that was how do we brand that? Um the problem with that tile, the little subway tile that's over that is if if you look
at a standard block construction, what those hallways are, uh a mason has come by and struck all of these lines, right? When you go to do a tile over that in new construction, when they know that, they don't strike those lines. So if we pull that off and just say, "Hey, we want to finish, you know, just paint the block and call it a day." It's you won't be able to do that because those lines, I don't believe, are struck within there. The other thing is you don't have any in here, but they've bull-nosed the corn corners above that tile, but the blocks where that tile exists is a a true 90 corner. So, again, it's not pretty much if I take it off, I got to go back on it with something. And I
think it we can either paint it or epoxy coat it. Um, which would be kind of a I think it's a decent solution, but not a great solution. I don't know that that's going to last the test of time. So, uh, the miracle method that we carried in the budget, that's a pretty expensive process. Um, I think I think it's worth rolling the dice and saying, let's just peel it off and choose some large format tile. I don't know that you're going to I wouldn't recommend doing a very bold blue necessarily, right? Where you could with some painting or if you could brand some stuff. We talked about branding some of the doors being doing some vinyl stuff there. I think taking advantage of some of those branding opportunities uh but doing something that kind
of fits with that. So I know we haven't talked about that. >> We haven't but but so this is some of the things where where next is behind the scenes I'm kind of going >> you know what we proposed in the referendum and in development. They don't necessarily get their boots completely dirty to look behind everything and they don't know everything as far as again striking lines. So kind of through some investigation that's been some conversation back and forth. Full disclosure, I'm the one that said I don't want it to look like painted tile. I think that is just ugly. So that >> I don't want to look like grandma's bathroom tile, >> right? So that that's >> which is where it is right now, right? Like >> Well, it is. >> Is speaking of
bathrooms, is there isn't there a bathroom right next to the gym, the small gym on what would be the north like right above your pinky? >> Mhm. >> U to your left up right there. >> Isn't that a bath? Like isn't that like our oldest bathroom in the building right now? >> No. No. The oldest bathrooms in the building are over by where the special ed room currently is. >> Right there. >> But you're talking about right across the road from Botuses. >> Yeah. >> That's right. >> That's where the junior high boys have to trace right now to come to use the restroom, >> which is why we're putting restrooms over in the junior high. >> Okay. Yeah. So like that I guess that was my question. So would we eliminate that? >> This
is the hall. This is the hallway right here. And then it goes into the locker room right here. And then that bathroom is right here. >> Is it just Is it a a group bathroom? >> Just a single user. >> No. Three >> three urinals or two toilets, I think. >> Um I >> just I was just stuck out to my head. >> Yep. Yep. >> I don't that wasn't As dumb as it sounds, it wasn't highlighted when they gave it to me. Not to say we we couldn't redo it, but I don't believe they were planning to redo that or that bathroom. They were updating these and then with the new addition of bathrooms kind of had that. I I would say that some of the things um throughout our conversations through DT, I
don't want to make this last all night, but throughout our conversations through DT, there's certain things that that come up. I try to remember those. Put a little list and if we do come in under, I should have a list of just, you know, we should be able to sit and say, "Hey, what are some of the things we talked about design that maybe Jared said we couldn't afford at the time or we're kind of held off on?" So, we should be able to, if we're under, those are kind of we can cherrypick. Do we have enough money to do those bathrooms? Does it make sense to do those bathrooms? And the answer is yes. Um, one one of one of my comments through design 2, you will see we're doing this in design. It
makes sense. Oh, we're here. Can we do this? Well, that wasn't something that's selected in and it's out of scope, but it makes sense. There's a few things in here where we've said, "Hey, this is absolutely foolish not to do while we're here, so we're going to put it in design." Um, but then there's a lot of little things that say, "Hey, this makes sense to do or that makes sense to do or that makes sense." The argument from my perspective is yes, a lot of things make sense, but a lot of sense add up to dollars. So, trying to get those main items first, we'll get those. And if we can do some of those things that make sense later, we'll we'll try to do that. So, um I think that was it. Just
kind of looking at that. So, it's a little longer than I had hoped, but good questions. Is there anything more you want to talk about or anything that I can help shed light on through design? We we kind of talked and again this is kind of going back to our original conversation when we started the group is is the um IMC area or the um elementary library. We kind of talked about like setting up pods and like different learning you know u learning areas to facilitate it making more like a almost like a coffee shop for stu to invite students in. Is that >> is that finding its way? Okay. >> No. No. Not since not since we've gotten to this point. I mean, that was in the the early early stages, but that space
hasn't been looked at. Well, that stuff has a lot of potential within, you know, our own after they're gone. We can always just looking for a coffee coffee shop feel that high school library looks a lot more like that now than it did last year. Right. Right. But >> I think there's there's some FF budget, so fixtures, furniture, and equipment. Um, I would say I have not looked at that. Natalie Madach, um, who's been part of our design groups as well, uh, she's she's kind of our our furniture guru. Um, there is some budget or allows within here that we'll get in to start talking about furniture. Um, but as far as infrastructure, we have I mean, that's something that wasn't on my docket to do at this point, but maybe there's some opportunity with
furniture at that point or, you know, what we decide to reuse. I I will say this that as we put in new spaces and offices, um some districts will say, "Well, let's just use some old furniture and put it in there." I I I don't want to talk you out of that, but I will tell you that if if we go in and build some brand new spaces and you put some old uh what is it? Honey Oak furniture in there, it probably it really takes away from a new space. So, um you know, we'll we'll put some new furniture, but some of that stuff might be able to be reused and and then create some budget for some opportunity like that as well. So, >> I just have one and it's back on the
sugar camp one. >> Yeah, >> if you don't mind. Sure. Could you go back to >> You want to go to like the overall floor plan? >> Um, the number two there would be good. Actually, I'm sorry. Go down one more. >> This one? Yep. That Let's Let's bring her back up nice and Maybe. Oh, there it goes. >> There we go. >> So, the changing rooms down here, that's the existing storage room. Is that correct? >> I don't know if the walls are the exact same, are they, Jared? >> These? Yes, it's the existing storage room. Yep. >> As as is. And we're thinking we're going to be able to get two changing rooms in there. >> Yep. It's just a kind of a simple split. I I don't want to >> I don't
mean simple, but I mean I mean there's not you're not getting locker rooms, per se. Um there's not nearly enough room to do that. Um I can I I well I don't want to say I cannot anything's possible. It just cost a lot of money. But I mean through through that with the gym unit that's in here and the condensers for the coolers. I mean this room anywhere above 7 and 1/2 ft it's it's all mechanical equipment. So um >> yes that's kind of where it ended up kind of falling in place. >> So are there dimensions? uh not legible, but I can I can pull a map up that would have them legible. Yeah. >> I mean, that just almost doesn't even seem >> That just doesn't even seem >> size of a bathroom
basically like a single use bathroom. >> It is a place to kind of go in. You'd get two or three people in there at a time. It's got a small bench and some cubbies. >> Would would you be able to extend this out? Get rid of this tea here. extend this out and do two separate doors where where it would get more you'd get more usable space. >> I definitely can ask that question to the to toruct structure is going to be the big key there, right? >> I I just know how big that room is. It's not big. Correct. When you add an interior wall, two well an interior two interior walls really. >> Yep. You're adding kind of a lean down and a couple wing walls with some pocket >> doors. You're just
not getting anything. It's almost not even worth doing it unless we can get a little bit more out of it. I is my opinion. I I can't argue against your fact. I it in the process it makes more sense to put it here, but after exploring that it just I mean it opens up a large can of worms. I mean it is what do we do with the gym unit at that Again, and I'm not I'm not saying you have to flip-flop it, but I think if you could get rid of that T They have these enormous shower rooms and and changing rooms. They don't do gang group showers anymore. They spend a ton of money doing individual showers. This is not intended to be a a group shower room. Like you said, when we
were kids, it was everybody that >> everybody goes to a group. Um, I would say in a small area like this, if I can share my my fitness club, Loa, I'm from Loi. Lo has a very small fitness club. What they have is kind of this group changing room. It is unisex changing space. It has cubbies and some lockers. in that corner of that space has a small almost the size of a very small toilet room where if someone needed to go and truly change clothes, get naked, change over that they could do that. A majority of that room is a student coming in who has I don't think they do tear offs much anymore, but the the pants pull down and they've got their shorts and they change into their basketball shoes that no
one you know they >> girls three girls will stack in the handicap stall in the bathroom. Well, it's, you know, it's and it's not so much the the changing as it is. Okay, let's let's say something we get double booked. We got to send >> a volleyball game or a basketball game down to Shur Camp just to have some possible team space would be nice. The other thing would be is when the kids come in for practice, if they have a place where they can throw their bag, you know, instead of along the gym, >> change in the bathroom right now and they throw it on the bleachers. >> Yeah, it's so like you said, if I >> personally I don't see that it would be much of a budget impact to maybe do that,
but we might get a bunch more usable space. I I don't >> I don't I don't >> what I where I'm going with this is I'm wondering does this need to be a male female changing area or can it be one room changing area? I mean, is that what I'm gathering is that it's not necessarily a lot of times it's either a girls team or a boys team. >> It's going to be one gender at a time. If you need a space for two genders, then I'm kind of forced to put this kind of separation. And does that give the opportunity to have another workable space like if you need to talk to a student or some privacy or like a team room type of situation where maybe it's a gathering an extra gathering space.
And if it was a single if it was a single open space that would maybe make a little bit of added room where you could put lockers there for so that you could sh so that you could share it you know where the other team goes in first or or our kids go in first do their thing lock up their stuff or or put their stuff in lockers get out then the other team can go in and do the same thing. if it's one larger space that that becomes a lot more feasible >> and usable space. >> The architects would argue they they've been arguing that that's a very tight small space. But >> yeah, I I don't I don't think what's there is feasible, Terry. It just too >> I have listened to so
much about this room that just go for it cuz I really don't care. I just want it to work for what the need is. And I definitely don't want to build something that at the end you go, "Well, that was a waste. >> I don't I don't want to do that. That doesn't benefit me at all." So >> I from what I'm hearing from, again, I'm not the one making your decision, but it sounds like you I would get rid of all of the walls in that space. I would get rid of the double door. I would keep that opening. We'll make it one door. That's, you know, one door in. And then I mean, to be honest, you need the ADA circle in there. There's part of me that says, do we just carve
out a small true changing? I mean, is it worth do you tell me? Do you need a changing room for one person or somebody that can go in if they had to to change? Otherwise, I'd just leave it as a big open space and change the door. We can finish the We'll put a ceiling in there. I don't think there's a ceiling in there. Like, I can make it feel like a space. We can put some uh carpet tile in there so it's, >> you know, comfortable. We'll put some athletic benches in there or lockers, you know, some cubbies or lockable. Do does it need to be metal lockers? And >> almost do like a curtain like you say, just do a curtain off an area where you can pull a curtain out if you
really need a private >> can do that as well space >> where >> we've talked way too many too much about this space already, but where's the existing storage going >> into it will utilize that existing gym storage. >> Okay. It'll just >> cuz that's that's where like all the tables and stuff are in there now. So you take all that stuff out and it makes all the room that you got. Gotcha. >> Yeah. Cuz you're migrating all your tables into here. So you need that ancillary space. >> Admittedly never been in that room. >> Those tables. So I have never been in it. >> That's where the frisky kids go. >> So So what I'm hearing is I'm going to make that one space. >> That's what I'm hearing. that and >> that we're
hearing. >> Yeah. >> I I mean, like I said, what's there is not what's there is not feasible. I I feel like that's probably our best option. >> A way long time ago when this conversation started about this little tiny space, and I'm talking weeks and weeks ago, >> it was because of double doors. It was because of, you know, accessibility and not touching things. And it's not even a bathroom. But to try to fit in that space is extremely tight. It's never been a good plan. It's >> Oh, I'm I'll tell Tom and Abby that we want to open into one room and Tom and >> he'll be like, "Yeah." >> He'll almost go, "Told you so." >> Yeah. >> You know, you know, and the only other thing, you know, I don't know
if opening up into the gym, if it's one space like that that opens up to the gym, if that's good. I don't know if you maybe do one door over here, do a wall so that you have a >> Oh, you want I don't know what you I don't know what we need for this space, but that would then protect if a kid's changing and another kid yanks open the door. >> Mhm. >> Yep. >> So, like I said, if you if you privacy entrance, >> yeah, if you did >> one door here, >> what what I what I'm going to wall here, >> what I'm going to tell you is I 100% that would not be cost effective. I'm gonna try to make utilizing these doors. I would maybe come in and then I'll
put a wall here where you come in 90 degree in and 90 degree in and then I get kind of an L-shaped larger space. >> And the only reason I say that is if you really made me move it. Those are pre-cast. I think that gym is a pre-cast building to start. >> So I to cut that in would be >> Yeah. Whatever. That's >> You told me that that was the most important thing in your building. I would say let's spend the money, but that's a large. So I'll I'll utilize the door that's there. It won't be a double door. We'll kind of infill it with some block. I'll do one door and a privacy entrance. So, >> if you go back a long long time ago, oh, >> there was supposed to be
locker rooms built a long long time ago. >> Yep. Like seven school boards ago. >> All good. I'm >> good. Sorry everybody. Thank you for coming in. >> No, it's not. >> Just lost control. >> See, you need the positive stuff at the end. Bring everybody back in. >> No, we have positive. We have W. >> Yeah, and this is all positive. >> All right. Uh, next, is everyone still with us? >> Wait, we uh have the school forest cam 3 update. Okay, very brief. Um, the plaintiffs have filed their briefs and come on Friday, our attorneys will be submitting our response. So, they said as soon as they get anything back, we will be hearing about it and they will send us a copy of the response once it's officially ready to go. So,
I'm looking for that sometime Friday. >> Do we have any restrictions as far as work or I mean with them filing the appeal and all that? I mean, can we We can still get to work, right? >> Just not have the shooting range. That's it. >> Range. You just can't fire anyone else. >> Yes. >> Public can. >> Yeah, they can. >> Can Yes, they absolutely can if it's allowed. Uh, next we move to WB correspondence and updates. Just wanted to make sure that you're aware that it's different this year. If you recall, in the past, we would reserve rooms in the middle of August. Well, now everything happens on this drop dead date of November 3rd. So, Shannon wanted me to ask that we make sure that we know if you're going or not
going, even if you would have to cancel, at least we could get the rooms and get everything up to speed. And if you know specific days or additional days you want to go, if we could get that information to her as soon as you can so she can have that ready to roll. Do you want to just email her, Terry? >> Yes, please. And my question for you is based on last year's experience, do you want Shannon to try to get it at the convention center like we've had in the past or did you prefer the place we stayed at last year? >> I think as long as there's transportation, I like the place we stayed at last year. Yeah, I did. >> You guys sounded a lot happier having gone >> I was >>
that other place. >> Yeah, I was happy either way though. There is some convenience to being right there and being able to >> But you have to take a bus ride. >> But as long as they have that bus, I mean that was it was very easy. >> I will ask her to check on both situations and tell her we can live with whatever it turns out to be. But >> yeah, cuz if the Hilton's ready, like if they're all of their um restoration is complete. >> Yes. >> They may not have right transportation. >> That's true. Right. So if they don't, I would say we would go. >> Yeah. Okay. I will check on that part of them for us. >> Um can I just add from WSB? We attended um the meeting last
week um and the workshop which had a focus on truency. Obviously not something that we have a ton of problems with here um in Three Lakeakes School District. Uh but something um we we did the workshop and and got to kind of talk out some of our positive things happening at Three Lakes. Um but when it comes to truency important for our community to know that there actually is a truency task force is required by statute to be held by the county seat the district and the county seat which is Rinlander. Um but three lakes I mean Justin has participated in that in the past. Um but that meeting is available and out there and we were able to talk about some of the things that um area districts are doing when it comes to
truency and kind of how people are combating um some issues. But really a a big priority in in having our kids here, right, engaged either here in the building or in school activities that that's the biggest priority and how do we how do we work together um with some kind of more ideas at getting our our kids in the seats here. Um, we also kind of got to give a shout out um for our district on the school spirit and kind of how something so little and um, you know, cheap or >> not expensive at all has really made a difference at the beginning of the school year. So, that was pretty cool. >> That was really wellreceived. I mean, as far as you can see them taking notes and stuff, but that got the
attention of a lot of districts. >> That was a proud moment for us. >> Simple. So, great job everyone who's had a piece in this is school spirit and it it's really exciting to see us on social media and seeing these kids um and even some older people who are super excited about the fight song and and things coming back. So, >> you want to know my epiphany? >> What? >> Can I share it? >> Yeah. >> We talked about like what is a blue jay and everything? It's in the school song. We just have to like modernize the words to bring the definitions out, but it is the school song. Sometimes it's right in front of you. >> It's like right there. I was like after homecoming I was sitting there thinking about it
and looking at the words I'm like it's right there. It is right there. So all the thought that we've been that's the start of it. So now we just got to take it to the next topic. >> That's awesome. >> Yeah. Cool. Anything else? No. >> Great. I'll take a motion to adjurnn when ready. I'll make a motion to adjourn the meeting. Do you have a second? >> Second. Oh god, no one wants to leave. >> We have a motion on the floor by Stacy, second by Brian. All those in favor of the motion signify by stating I. I. Opposed. >> Motion carries. Thank you everyone for coming. Have a great night.
