001Oh, you meant to put some of them anyway. Put names and faces together. >> Okay, good. All right, I'll uh call the uh meeting to order for the Tom Hawk School Board. Please rise for the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Roll call, please. Cole left >> here. >> Hinrich >> here. >> Huffman >> here. Kersh Long >> here. >> Swanky >> here. Blue >> here. >> Zimmerman >> here. >> Okay, we do have a quorum. Next agenda item is to adopt the agenda as presented. Second >> motion second to adopt the agenda as presented. Any deletions, changes hearing none. All those in favor signal signify by saying I. >>
002I. >> Opposed. Motion carries. >> District administrators report. Okay. Few things uh this month. Um first just a couple of housekeeping things and reminders. Uh we have signing day for our athletes and athletic awards and scholarships next week, Wednesday from 7 to 9. Uh there's over 175,000 being given out in scholarship awards this year. So um pretty impressive amount. So it's always if you're able to make it that and graduation will be next Friday uh starting at 7 p.m. in the fieldhouse. Um the last couple days uh actually it was announced yesterday that there was a deal in the works and on the table for the spending of the state's surplus. So I don't know if you guys have looked into that or not, but there's they've um been a lot of unpacking of what
003that deal looks like for schools. I've got a little update here for you. Um so currently uh if if this passes uh the joint finance looked at it today and apparently it will go in front of the legislature and senate tomorrow. So if this is passed what it would look like for schools in its present form obviously that could change but um special education reimbursement would increase uh to 42.7%. >> What was that percent? 42.7 for this year's reimbursement and 50% for next year. >> Uh so >> what was it before? >> Uh well again this is some certain not some sufficient. So but they they think that they have a pretty good idea right now what that number would be. We were looking at probably around 38. So in the past it's been you
004know down as low as I think 29 or 30. Um so it always kind of comes in under that number but usually that number is set um well before things come through. So I I would say for this year they're going to be probably pretty close and then the 50% margin probably will fluctuate a little bit. >> When you Wendle, when you say this year, do you mean like this school year? >> This school year we will see a higher reimbursement >> and then in the fall it'll be 50%. >> We we would get you get paid. Yeah. Over the course. So next school year it would start. So July one and moving forward it would be that 50%. Okay. What was was it 42 the original number that the >> 42 and 44 I
005think was what >> so we're close to what they >> Yep. Yep. We'll be very close to that. A little above it if they get above that that extra 50% or that 50% mark. >> So what does that mean for us? We would look at an additional around $105,000 just over um so about 105659 I think was the estimates that we got uh that would come in above and beyond what we had planned for this year. And then next year be looking like $285,91 will come in in addition to what what was on the table. So that's positive news. Um that's money again that that we will not have to pull out of fund 10 to cover those additional costs. We'll still have to pull some out, but it'll be less than than what we
006anticipated and budgeted for. In addition to that, there was 300 million million aotted to general aid. Um so this will come in separately and the formula for this will be next year and then the year after. So we would see that on our um on our revenue limit worksheet and then 2728. This is going to come in the form of um per pupil aid or per pupil funding. There'll be a separate aotment but what it will be uh it it will not be additional revenue for districts. It will be tax. So it'll be in that general aid formula. So, it'll just uh lessen what our local taxes have to put in to cover our revenue, but that's going to come in at they're estimating around $17,271 for next year. And in 2728, it would be
007$318,232. So, still pretty significant amount. We'll see what that looks like as we get our revenue limit populated worksheets uh coming up here and um and how that how we work that into next year's budget. It's important to note though that that these things as they go through tomorrow can change, right? There's a lot of positive energy about it, a lot of positive things being said, but there's been a lot of outspoken uh legislators that um are either concerned with it or oppose it. So, we'll keep our eyes on it as it goes through tomorrow and hopefully hopefully it works out. Um last last two things on my list. One, we did uh receive notification that company uh Instructure, who owns Canvas, who we use for our learning management system, had a massive data breach.
008Uh to our knowledge, and we have heard nothing from the company that any of Tomahawk's data has been impacted by that. So, we haven't taken any measures. We we did the initial uh measures that they they asked us to do just to be sure, but as they worked through and looked at things, it doesn't appear that any of our student data has been impacted by that. Uh if that changes, we'll put notification out and take some other precautions to ensure that, you know, our family is still get emails or bombarded with things and click on a link that maybe would make it worse. Um, the last thing that I had on my list, I wanted to um see if the board would be interested. Last year we did a data retreat in June and it's
009I know it's getting increasingly harder with work schedules and other things to try to schedule that where we can get everybody together on you know any given afternoon or evening for that matter. Uh my hope was we could do that during the June closed session because that data is all embargoed. We have to do it in closed. Uh but if we could do that in um close session at the June meeting and maybe restrict it to 45 minutes to an hour and we would run it pretty much the same way that we did last time. Anybody on that? >> Any issues? >> I liked what we did last year. It was good to have it. >> Yeah. I don't be the same for just as part. >> Okay. >> What would be the date? >>
0109th. >> Yeah. >> What time would you be looking at? >> It's the regular It's our right after our regular board meeting, but we were just doing it in close session. >> Okay. We'll get that book done. Anything else? That's it. Any questions? Okay. Next item is the consent agenda. Uh number of things have been notable items included in the consent agenda. Any comment on those new hires, anything like that? >> I have a comment on the Lake Holm Lions Club donation. Interesting to me how that came to be. It was for the football program. That was a someone won official competition. >> Okay. Any other comments on the consent agenda? I'd entertain a motion to approve the consent agenda as presented. >> So move Hinrich. >> Second. Motion and second to accept the uh
011consent agenda as presented. All those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. >> Opposed. Motion carries. Staff reports. Should have copies. Seen all the staff reports. Uh any comments for any of the staff questions? Um, >> I noticed your literacy percentile increases. I That's pretty impressive. >> Yeah. How did you do it? Teachers. >> Yeah. A lot of effort >> I bet went into that. >> Yeah. It's exciting. >> Yeah. Yeah. There's a round of um games just with the students that are below the 50% I'll just do another another use that most current data to set up our win in the fall right when we get back. >> Yeah. Traditionally, we've waited a little bit longer. Um, but why? >> Yeah. >> Get after it before the fall window opens. So, there'll be
012a little jump start before we >> looks great. >> Kids are working hard. >> Yeah. >> Thank you. >> And where did Oh, Stacy, the student council was going on a field trip. Just out of curiosity, is that a leadership type thing or where are they going? >> Yeah, they take it's the student council members. So, they're going tomorrow to um the Northern Lakes Impact Center. >> Okay. >> Been doing that now for a couple years. It's a cool trip for those kids that work for the year. >> Great. Okay. I think >> when when is the eighth grade award, Stacy? They had >> but they didn't. >> June. >> Okay. And um I was going to ask about the senior trip. Where are the seniors going? Wendell, >> the senior trip is that Mall
013of America. >> Yeah. Mall America. >> They're going to Mall America. Yeah. Okay. And then Adam, I was just going to ask you about Project Search and the grads that um you have three kids graduating. >> We have three that'll be graduating 27 to 9 or something like that. So, >> okay. I was up there a week and a half ago at the site. Got to see them all working. So, it's Yeah, it's pretty cool. Yeah, we'll have one student there next year. They're looking at doing an externship for him automatic search. Project search really bases itself just out of the box just out of the spire hospital because there's a lot of different things they can do, but it does limit the kids to what they can offer in there. So we worked with
014them to get uh they'll start next fall there to do some employability skill stuff but then they worked with the leadership transition to working pretty cool for >> I heard the same thing at season 9. What a great event that is and the kids speeches or the graduate speeches. >> Yeah. So I'm looking forward to it. >> Yeah, it'll be cool. I just have a quick question for what are your biggest challenges right now this time of the year. >> It's it's the end of the year is a hard time for kids. Um some are super excited, some are not excited and it's knowing that the inevitable is coming and keeping consistent routines, practices, behaviors to not see those things ramp up at the end of the year. Um it's hard. It's a hard time
015for kids whether it's they're really jacked up for it or they're dreading it. We talked a lot last week about structure equals safety kids trying to maintain structure as much as we can. We can have some fun but when structure falls behaviors as all said they're nervous some isn't great there's trauma there. So those behaviors I think are probably for sure right now right now. Thank you. >> I was going to talk to Mark about the two grants that he secured and how wonderful that's going to be. >> Sure. >> So, you've got some some people. >> Okay. Oh, you're going to talk about it later. Okay. I'll be that. I'm very excited about that. That's really cool. Really cool. >> Anything else? Okay, then officer Sus is going to make a presentation, I guess.
016>> All right, I guess it's my turn. Um, >> I just want to say that uh this is my eighth school year that I've been. I know my first year. I was started in November, then we had CO and all that, but uh so yeah, this will be my old eighth school year here. Um and uh you know, I I continue to you know, learn and grow in my position as just as, you know, anyone else would. Um, you know, it assists the district, you know, in providing a safe learning environment and I'm a resource to staff, students, parents that reach out. Um, and you know, really just try to build those uh positive relationships with the students, you know, regarding, you know, if it's walking through the buildings and just talking with the kids
017when I see them in the hallway or for example in the middle school uh for some of their attributes they have um where they can purchase to have donuts with me, which you know I enjoy um because I love donuts. Or in elementary school um they can purchase to have lunch with me, which um this is between Mrs. Will and I, we they can do that with her as well, but a lot of times is to try to find the time to do that. Um, and I think I'm backed up like three or four or four or five right now where I got to get down there before the end of the year because these kids and some of them will buy multiple at a time. >> So then you got to find like I
018think I got one kid that has three of them right now. So then you got to find a time to go down there and have >> them two separate lunches with them. Um but then you know besides that you know um you know I assist the district in uh addressing school safety issues when they arise. Um you know the safety assist with the safety drills. Um, you know, truency is a big thing that um, I assist. I'm part of the I don't know if you guys are familiar with the um, AMC committee that was developed like last year was the first year >> or was it two years? >> Two years ago. And I'm on that committee. Basically, if you know there's a student that is in need of some um, more resources or you
019know interventions or something, they the principles will recommend them to this committee for um, interventions such as you know citations or referral to court or something like that. So I am part of that committee. Um otherwise you know I'm busy you know attending you know being present at school school events during the day school events at night when you know I'm asked to be there such as you know homecoming prom winter ball u middle school dance middle school just had a hangout >> actually hang out a couple weeks ago which was pretty cool um instead of the kids dancing they were able to play games like an open gym and they had music and stuff like that so that was really neat. Um, let's see what else. Uh, two weeks ago on Friday, um, Tom
020Walk was able to participate for the first time. The eighth graders were able to go down to Merill, um, and participate in what was called a law expo, which they've been doing for 20ome years, I believe. Um, so that was really cool just because you had um you had the FBI there, you had uh the coroner's office, the DA's office, probation, parole, uh project um the trains, um I can't think what they're called. Um railroad crossings um >> the DNR was there, sheriff's office, Melo PD, Tomahawk PD, um you know, you had all these different agencies from Lincoln County or state federal um that all these eighth graders got to go interact with um and just kind of talk about their their field. So it was really neat. Um it was actually good that you
021know we were able to go down there. So that was pretty good. Um things coming up that I'll you know graduation I'll be there. Um otherwise it's you know we're getting close to the end. um you know as far as I know some people you know are numbers people um and as far as like citations or juvenile referrals that I've done um this year the numbers are much lower than last year. Um why I don't know. Um I you know we have had this discussion with the principles and I guess my numbers as far as what I my contacts like complaints that I enter into the police data base are about the same um compared to last year. Um but as far as citations and referrals are down. Um I know kids are still doing
022things that they shouldn't be but they tend to get uh smarter um and more sneaky in doing things. Um, so that sometimes that's that's harder to um try to correct that behavior as well. So still doing class presentations and field classes where um oh I was um I was a part of the administration team when the Wisconsin school safety coordinators came through earlier this year and did a school uh security assessment. Um, actually I just attended a training through them a couple weeks ago um to get a better understanding of that and kind of help the district do something like that on their own. But I would still recommend that the school district have the Wisconsin School Safety Coordinators Association come and do that side assessment just because it brings in outside eyes in addressing
023possible um areas of improvement or areas that are um well being well done. So I mean they they do both. um they give you the things you're doing good and things that you can improve on which is um I think that's really good. So otherwise that's all I got. >> Any questions? >> Two questions. First question as law enforcement lesson officer do you see your role more law enforcement or more mentor teacher guide presence? >> Well I mean you you kind of covered the prong of a school resource officer. The prong is It's a threeprong. It's um law enforcement mentor and they call like a guest speaker teacher. Um I would say the law enforcement mentor part is probably more than the guest teacher speaker part. I had part where you say probably the mentor
024law enforcement guess your teacher part >> I just see it's a huge opportunity because there's a huge career opportunity correction law enforcement but we don't want our kids to fall so far that they >> you know have issues where they don't have those opportunities in the future. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. >> I know. >> Yep. >> Yeah. >> So, my last question was, respectfully, with all the donuts and lunches, what are your response times like? Just kidding. >> Officer Susa, thanks for your time being here. I know how important leazison officers to schools. um being around now for a few years, where would you like could the program grow more? Is there areas where you could see more involvement or a wish list of where you'd like to take the position? Um, you know, I always
025have, you know, I always, um, you know, it's hard because, you know, obviously I'm still and I tell people and I actually was just having this conversation with, um, the police chief of Merill because both their Seros are new this year. And I was, you know, I'm always uh I what sometimes like I, you know, in my position, you know, I'm the first one in it. you know, we never had a program before. >> So, like I told him, I said, you know, sometimes I I feel like, well, I wonder how, you know, um, you know, am I doing this not correctly, but um, you know, is this the right way of going certain things? And he's like, you know, and he and he's been in law enforcement, he's like, you know, that that's every
026day. And, you know, every position, you're always learning. You're always growing, you're always doing, you know, tweaking things. And I know I'm hoping to um I know I tried to meet up with the mayor SRO's earlier this year um and I think it would have been the day of the inservice and I don't know what happened but we weren't able to connect um because in had inservice together so I was like oh perfect opportunity to go down there and meet with their SRO's um but I didn't have to uh you know we didn't have the time so I'm hoping to connect with them this summer and kind to see how they're doing things versus, you know, we're doing things. I know we're different. I mean, obviously they have more kids, they have more resources to
027pull from um and stuff like that versus, you know, small town. That's one of the biggest things is, you know, a lot of times when we talk with these outside agencies and organizations or, you know, talk about SRO and like say district or restrict district, they all have more resources to pull from. bigger communities. Um, so you know, I just like to see how Maryland's doing things versus how we're doing things. and only used to before co um the SRO was from conference would get together anytime the APS from the high school got together but since co that kind of fell apart and I think earlier this year I was trying to com or put together a list of SRO's and I don't think I think I'm the only one besides Mos I think they've
028added a couple um that is still I think a lot of the other agencies they either retired or they went back to row or they got promoted to a different position. Um so I'd really like to get um that back together um just to see you know how things are handled in different agencies or different school districts um just you know that way you can hopefully do um what best serves um the district and students and staff. And so those are some big things that I'd like to connect on. >> Well, well, thanks for your time, Paul. >> Yeah, thank you. >> There there's there's >> for me, I guess I hit it from a standpoint is from my past, I worked with the resource officer in Wasa. >> And one of the things that
029connected the resource officer to the high school students was a canine unit, >> the the dog. >> Yeah. Yeah. And from a a fire health teacher standpoint, that that canine unit was great in bridging the gap between some of the kids and the officer yourself. >> Yeah. >> And it and the help occurred more than the mental health. It was precaution. It was getting the stuff in advance before the crisis has hit. >> Um I'm just trying to think if there's a possibility or anything like that here in Tok. >> Yeah. I think another thing when you were being hired, they talked about self-defense classes for the staff and you had a guy sitting here that crap could do. I'll help with you on that. And I think that'd be really neat to >> very
030reasonable. I've done it in the state, too, and I've always said it to the state like the Covenant Hill Services, they don't have anything set up, nothing. And what do you do? you know, so nowadays it's like you just don't know, you know. >> Yeah. I mean, and I I know the, you know, as far as I know the district, I mean, and I know a lot of um, you know, you bring up self-defense, um, you know, special, you know, as far as special ed teachers. I know that the district brings in because I've attended the NBIC training, you know, that teaches me how to handle, you know, certain behaviors. You know, I would encourage that, you know, besides administration or um you know, special ed staff that general ed staff that know they learn
031different techniques and things of how to you know hand you know students that are escalated. >> Anyone else? >> Okay. Well, thank you. >> Thank you. >> Thanks again. Thanks for everything you do, too. Appreciate it. >> Okay. Hey. Uh, Sher, I guess you're you're going to give a couple presentations on grants. >> Sure, I'll do my best. Yeah. So, the first one I think I'm here was the Americanore. Um, so we were awarded in the elementary um an interventionist um through the reading core who would provide us dedicated reading intervention to um elementary students. They meet about 15 to 20 students every day. Um we probably target our kids, you know, above the 10 percentile 40 percentile. We see good growth when kids get real intense intervention in those levels. Uh it it's for
032the full school year. America covers the full cost of hiring and compensation. So um we just have to provide some guidance some instructional internal coaching. So yeah, yes. So that's that'll be interesting piece of but it's a tremendous opportunity for another intervention and stuff really just target that's all they do all day. >> And Sherry, the difference between this one is they're they're the position is approved to work oneonone, right? >> Oneonone. >> So it's not like our normal interventions where they might have five or seven. >> Correct. This is more intensive >> their programming which we don't know a lot about. So it would be another resource that they they use and they train >> who has oversight of the person then >> that's a great question. Um I would imagine we do it
033some to some degree. >> Well we will over over a lot of areas but they probably will more over the curriculum and and you know the evaluation. Can I ask how much approximately would it cost? >> What was if we were to hire an interventionist? >> Nothing to us, but I don't know what they were what the pay was on this one. >> They didn't specify. So, so it depends. It's it's it's commensurate with the experience that the person has and the qualifications. So it could be, you know, when you're talking salary and benefits, it could be 110 or it could be 85. Both all put together, not just straight salary. >> We hire them or they send the person. >> We have some things. They do a full training that's question on that one.
034So then the second was >> Well, we got to do them in two. >> I'm sorry. >> Yep. So they have to approve this one and then we'll approve the >> Okay. I'll make a motion to approve the full-time interventionist through Americanore. >> I'll second it. >> Motion and second to approve the uh hiring of an interventionist. Uh any other discussion? Hearing none. All those in favor signify by saying I. >> Opposed? Motion carries. Okay. >> Okay. So the second um we app were um selected to receive a fully funded full-time early literacy coach who approved literacy coaching program. Um that is to stop the department of construction and under the Wisconsin act 20. Um it's a two-year grant. Um we will place a qualified literacy coach in our building that's focused entirely on our
035K3 students. They would be working with with teachers. So there would be an instructional coach working with teachers to build capacity in day-to-day instruction and implementation of our um CPLA language arts program. So let's see what else he wrote here. Um talks about building a strong foundation reading. Yep. All of those things studying practices providing job embedded professional learning. Um coaching educators oneonone in small groups as well. So fully funded, it funds the coach salary and benefits for the entire two-year period. >> This this one works on a reimbursement. So they fund up to $120,000 per year annually. So um so yeah, we would have that much we would have to work within those constraints, which you know is pretty. >> Yeah, pretty doable. And um so that and I it's important to always know
036to it's on 120 straight salaries 120 salary benefits. So you know that's they have to have a two a 217 or a 317 license correct >> to do this which is a specialist license. So there's a 316 which is your normal reading license. This would be the level above that. Um and then we do the uh posting and the hiring for this and then it just works on reimbursement. We do have to provide them uh some time because they have meetings in Madison for this whole cohort of people that they're funding for trainings. I don't know if that's once a month. It was >> I think it was once a month, >> I think. So, we would have to just provide them the opportunity to attend those trainings. Uh and then yeah, we have >>
037is this coach able to go into the classroom and work with the students? Okay. Because before it wasn't when we had coaching before they >> I I didn't see anything that said they could. >> Okay. on a modeling basis. But yeah, that wouldn't be the majority. >> And do we have uh people on staff with 317s that would be interested? >> Right. He wrote on here there were no staff internally or qualified or interested in >> Yeah, it's a great opportunity. We're getting kids Are we exclusive? Are there other schools getting these opportunities as well? >> There are. I don't know how many others were awarded. >> There were only two in our seaside. >> Us. That's great. >> So, hypothetically, what if you get someone in here and they're not a good fit? >>
038Put it that way. >> We can change it at any. >> Yep. Normal. It's our employee. >> Okay. It's just a grant funded position for two for two years. >> Okay. >> So if at the end of you know 6 months in something were to occur, it would be the same that we would follow with any >> Okay. >> All right. Good. >> Any other questions, comments? Anything else? Sherry, on this one opportunity. >> Okay. I'll make a motion to accept the Wisconsin DBI to hire an early intervent literacy coach for two years. >> Second. >> Motion to second uh uh to hire the uh literacy person. Uh any further discussion? All those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. >> Opposed. Motion carries. Thank you. Quarter three finance report. >> Okay. >> So,
039this finance report was uh presented to the technical committee. Um I just hit some highlights here. You all should have a copy of it and it was attached in here. So, if there are questions, happy to answer them. But, um we're right on track with where we should be with with revenues. Um the only thing that I would say is is the quarter three report does not reflect that final tax installment that comes to us in April. That will be reflected on the quarter 4 in the final report. Um couple highlights from it. Uh you can see the um the amount of interest that we pulled off of the fund 40. If you look on that uh page two under 40, you see we year to date we had $122,648 uh in just our interest
040rate from keeping that in the local government investment pool. Um shifting to the expenditures again we're right on track with where we should be. Uh there was one thing if you looked at the graph on page three on that you'll see in the 800 category on the graph it looks like we're very low um in that area and it went it wasn't reflected in there but that's that's the transfer that we hold off on. So, we anticipated in the budget, but at the end of the year, we'll have a transfer from fund 27, our special ed into our special or to the special ed fund to cover that gap that we talked about. And there also be a um that is always recorded as an expenditure on here. So, and then there will be another
041one to fund 46, whatever amount that we decide to put in fund 46 at the end of the budget cycle. So, those will be reflected, but it looks like that's behind at this point here, but but it's not. Um everything else is is pretty much on track. And then uh the capital projects, we updated the capital projects list. If you go in there, you'll see the there are some additions to that list and I quoted them in green. Uh so the auditorium the auditorium stage four. We found during dance competition it was there were just parts of it that were old and falling apart, deteriorating. It's coming up in chunks just from having just high usage for many years. When we reached out to Basman Brothers and they came in and looked at it, they
042said the the last time that they were in here and refinish that floor and sanded it, they they told um our then building the grounds director, which was two building grounds director before. It's been quite some time um that that was the last time they were going to be able to do that. So, that is up for replacement. We did receive a quote. I know it's not in here. We just recently got it, but it's going to be under 30,000. So, somewhere 25 to 30,000. That will get replaced with hardwood maple that we painted black and then it'll have that trim piece on the outside so that you can tell where the edge of the stage is. And they've been doing a lot of these. A lot of the ones just like ours are all
043kind of put in at the same time period. They're all kind of up for replacement. That's what they're doing. So, uh we don't have a a time frame on that one yet. Uh but we do have a quote from them on it. So, we'll probably be looking down the road for that. Um, auditorium seats. I think I changed this, but if it's still highlighted yellow in your copy, that's an older copy. That's not that's not supposed to be highlighted. We're not We don't have that one booked out yet. Um, the fieldhouse scoreboard was added to the fun list. We talked about this uh with our committee. Um, you know, I don't know, Dave, if you want to chime in or >> Yeah. Um, you know, I know that talking to Wendle that There is a
044little bit of a a time consideration. Um if we don't submit this and approve it without it won't be installed before next school year and we're trying to do it during this school year which could present challenges um because everybody's a little bit stretched in now. It just hasn't been able something that you know Ryan haven't been able to solicit funds but we think that it'll probably be easier to solicit funds in some advertising space with the board up there. People can see it a little more tangly. So it's not It's not cheap, but it's not an incredibly massive expense either. We got more in the budget to cover this. I think our interest revenue might basically cover the purchase for this year. So, um it'll be a it'll be a good upgrade for fieldhouse.
045I think we're better off just getting it done. Ryan and I, Ryan Flynn and I have a a plan for securing donations for this or they're not donations, securing advertising spots for this. Uh, and we feel that within five years, this will be a revenue generator for us. I know we talked about that a little bit at one of the meetings, but we feel that the the revenue that we can tap into just with advertising, not only in partnership with our booster club and other areas, but selling those spots on that board will significantly offset some of our athletic costs and allow us to do some upgrades to some other facilities too, which not just in athletics, but in activities and fine arts as well. This is an opportunity also at other schools do this
046where you know the students become more interactive and run the video board during games and get the right equipment you know we're showing highlights everything like that. So it's a not just for athletics but it's good for our student body as a whole >> um replacing middle school lockers. There's a bank of lockers in our middle school that sixth grade lockers that are so old that we can't get parts for them anymore. >> And the top of the locker thing keeps falling off. >> So that's on the docket to get done earlier this summer. That one is slated. >> We go bang it every day. >> We'll add helmets. >> It's either that or give them helmets, right? single paper out. Um on the top of page six, you'll see the CTE innovation lab window
047in CAD lab. So there's a project that we're currently uh receiving some additional quotes on and looking at doing. But right now, our innovation lab and our CAD lab um is just a doorway in between them. And what our what our teachers who work that area would like to be able to do is be able to work with some kids in one area but still keep sight on the innovation lab. So we're going to install a large window seerough so that one teacher can monitor both labs. And then eventually behind that is the um there's another lab that we've added and converted from an old math room. So eventually we're going to take a a significant section of that wall out. So that will be one continuous area there in the innovation lab that powers
048and motion lab will be all together in one. So, we're looking at doing this depending on where the quotes come in either as one project or in parts where we would do, you know, one out of this budget cycle and then tackle the next one next year or something like that. So, um I'll keep you updated on that one. Water main replacement. Again, this is a a two-step process that we're hoping will be um a one that we can both get done this summer, but if not, we're planning for the two parts. Uh but the total project cost is reflected there. So, I know that that will all go through in one year. We'll discuss that include like damaging concrete and black and all that. >> We shouldn't be, but I don't think it will.
049I think we would have to fix that on our own. I'd have to look at the quote to be sure, but and then uh we have the bathrooms near the FC classroom, the TMS cafeteria uh slated to be remodeled this year, and that's for ADA compliance as well as wheelchair accessibility. And then there's five roofs that we have scheduled for this summer. So, a lot of projects. It'll be a busy area here, but a lot of a lot of good things. And I will say I'm going to talk a little bit about Fun 46 on the radio tomorrow morning, too, because I think it's a that we we talk about a lot, but a lot of people don't really know how useful that is for our district to be able to set aside those funds
050annually so that we it gives us the flexibility to schedule projects and plan for projects outside of just one fiscal year. And as busy as our contractors are, um that is extremely helpful to to be able to plot something out two years down the road or a year down the road. So, I'll make a point while we're on this new information for you probably about the is strictly for capital projects. Once the money goes into that fund, it can't come back out. It can only be spent on things. So, it really is one set of way to very deliberately spend money on a school without necessarily spending it, but setting it aside and saying we're going to do this and we can build you know up those coffers over a number of years which >>
051so it just like L said it's a great way for us to be able to plan things a little bit better. >> Okay. Thanks, Dave. Okay. >> Any other >> That's it. The last page you'll see there just it reflects you'll see that yearto date earnings is on our interest on the very bottom one is 3 2.69. So we're still seeing a pretty pretty significant gain from >> any uh questions from the board on the finance report or the capital projects? Anything from the committee? >> It's getting more and more costly to do business. I you know I think that um one thing that we're very intentional about is reviewing our projects and what's on the capital project list every meeting. I just I encourage any other board member to come if there's a project
052that you have questions about or you want to see on that list, come to our meeting and you know, let's discuss it, you know, because I think, you know, the Wendell and district staff do a great job of keeping the list updated and keeping things on our radar, but if there's things that we need to be considering or aware of, you know, we need to start planning for it. So, >> I just keep missing them. I don't know that you're having them >> unless I check board book every day. >> That's my problem. >> Yeah. >> But I am interested in what you do. >> Well, same. >> I'll check board. I'll when my alarm goes off, I'll check board. >> Okay. Uh then it entertain a motion to approve the quarter 3 finance report
053and updated capital projects list. >> I so mean 20. Second. Second. Hinrich. >> Motion a second to approve the quarter three finance report and updated capital projects list. Any further discussion? >> All those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. Opposed. Motion carries. Okay. Next item is to approve the list of 2026 graduation cadets. >> Any comments? And these are the students who have met the the requirements to this graduate. Correct. >> Okay. I'd entertain a motion to approve the graduation list for 2026. >> I'll make a motion to approve. >> Second. >> Okay. Motion to second to approve the graduation list of 2026 candidates. Any further discussion? >> A quick question. All the candidates that or all the students that aren't graduating, are they aware of that? >> Yeah. Anything else? Okay. Motion
054is second to approve. All those in favor signify by saying I. >> Opposed. Motion carries. Okay. Reorganization of the board. Uh received nominations for the executive officers. We'll start with the president. Open that one up for nominations. >> Rob. I second. That was fast. >> Any other not >> Don't even think about it anymore. >> I'm going nowhere near it. >> You're doing an awesome job. I just want to I just think you're doing a great job. >> Quit kissing up >> and the word on the street. You don't want to know. Just >> right. Okay. Yes, I'd be happy to do it again another year. Okay. >> Uh vice president, we do need a new vice president. I can uh I'd like to nominate Dave. >> Okay. >> Vice president, please. >> I'll second.
055>> Any other nominations? >> Okay. Dave, you accept? >> I do. >> Okay. And clerk, >> I nominate Deotion. Second to nominate Deb. Any other nominations? >> Deb, I accept. >> Okay. and treasur nominate Steve. >> I'll second. I was thinking that too. >> Any other nominations? >> Steve, do you accept? >> No. >> Okay. Uh, appoint the WSB delegate. That said, >> that was you. >> And is that you? >> Yes. >> Were you willing to do it again? >> No. >> Yes, I'll do it again. >> I don't have any stuck in that room for all day. No, I'm just kidding. >> Okay. And and you do accept that? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Thank you. Point to CISA board of control representative. And Deb, I think that's you. >> Yes. And I'd be
056happy to do it again. Great one. Everyone okay with that? >> Absolutely. >> Okay. Uh date for summer school board work session >> June 9th. >> Regular meeting. >> Yep. >> Okay. Okay, for the committee members, uh I told one I would like to keep uh the committee members as pres as as we had in the past. Does anyone want to make a change themselves? Would want to do do something different? I've asked Trish to be a part of the policy committee and she will do that. >> Thank you, Trish. >> Um I had kind of always thought it was important that the treasurer was on the operations and finance committee or was the chair of that committee which not be ste. >> Okay. >> Is everyone comfortable staying where they're at? >> Yeah. >>
057Yes. >> Okay. Very good. Then uh the the extra one that we it's uh there is curriculum instructional program committee. That's a new committee. We have any volunteers that would like to be a part and >> other than if anybody else how many are you looking for members? It can be as many, but we all the other ones have three, so we could do three, but I think you'd entertain anybody that wanted to be a part of it. And mainly what I'm looking for with this is there's a lot going on that I feel it's it's hard to we communicated at one point at the end of the school year. We have it in our reports each week, but it's those are kind of the highlights, but there are a lot of academic things going
058on that I feel like the board should have more of a inside track on and some knowledge about. I thought it would be a good time to have this committee some input into >> I would be willing to thank >> why don't you uh reach out to either SH or Jen and see if they would want to be a part if not uh if you need three I would >> yeah sure sh was involved in discussions a couple years ago wasn't she >> yeah over Um yeah. >> Okay. >> There was one other on here which is that ad hoc. >> Yep. >> Okay. >> Then the ad hoc committee uh we talked about this. It's boring salary and benefits at the same time. Uh so it' be just an ad hoc committee who I
059know there a couple people interested in that. >> Steve an okay Dave Steve and an >> everyone okay with that? Anyone else? >> I think Sh will probably want to be on that one too. Add her name here. >> Yep. >> That's worth reiterating, right? These are the committee members but every board members. >> Yeah, absolutely. >> Right. >> Okay. Deletion of uh policies. Uh we got one I guess. Huh. >> One to delete. >> Any Anything from the policy committee on this? Anything at all? >> Okay. I entertain a motion to delete policy 2700. >> So move. >> Second. >> Motion a second to delete policy 2700. Any discussion? All those in favor signify by saying I. >> Opposed. Motion carries. Revisions. uh three policies that are up for revision 1213, 3213, and 4213.
060Uh any comments on those at all? Anyone? >> Okay. Then entertain a motion to approve uh revisions to those three policies. >> So move. >> Second. >> Motion to second to approve revisions to the three policies presented. Any discussion? Hearing none. All those in favor signify by saying I >> opposed. Motion carries. And >> I think we had a a B C and a D on that one. You might have to >> Oh, I'm sorry. I just >> I did too. Thank you. Okay. So, entertain a motion to Are those revisions? >> Yes. >> Revisions to policy 2623, 5730, and 7510. and 84 to62. I think that's all of them. >> Yeah. >> Second. >> Okay. Motion a second to approve the revisions of those four policies. Any discussion? Hearing none. All those in favor
061signifi signify by saying I. I. >> Opposed. Motion carries. Okay. Public comment. Any public comment this evening? Okay. Board referrals. Any board referrals at all? >> I just wanted to recognize um our retirees and uh people that are moving on and doing other things and thank them. I mean, Connie Bandock's been an icon in this building for a long time. She's done a wonderful job and um just wanted to recognize her and the other Arland and our other staff that are moving on. Thank them. >> Good. Thanks. I appreciate that. >> Okay. Anything else? Okay. Then uh last item is to go into close session. Entertain a motion to go into close session. >> I so move. >> Second one. >> Motion a second to go into close session. Roll call, please. >> Yes. >>
062Huffman. Yes. Long. >> Yes. >> Swinty. >> Yes. >> Waloo. >> Yes. >> Zimmerman. >> Yes. Okay, we're in close session.
