So I'll call the monthly meeting of the school board to order. Please stand for the pledge of allegiance. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Roll call, please. >> Yep. >> Black here. Calhoun >> here. Hinrich >> here. >> Hers >> here. >> Kissinger Wolf >> here. >> Long >> here. >> Swinty >> here. Saloo >> here. >> Zimmerman >> here. >> Okay, we got a full uh full board. Uh next item is to adopt the agenda as presented. Uh any changes, deletions? Okay. Hearing none. Entertain a motion to adopt the agenda as presented. >> I so move 20y. >> I'll second motion. a second to adopt the agenda as

presented. All those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. >> Opposed? Motion carries. >> District administrator report. >> All right, a couple things. Um, first I just wanted to acknowledge some donations. We had some uh significant donations this time that are reflected in the consent agenda. Um, obviously the the bigger one that we put a press release out on and and did a story. It was covered by JJQ and the leader was United Steel Workers 248 donating uh $10,000 to help with student mental health. um that money uh we work with a uh started a relationship this year with a company called Gaggle and they have one um element of their company that we could invest in was or purchase a service through I guess is a better way to put it uh is

they they have the ability to connect students with uh actual providers through a teleaalth type mental health counseling service and we know what we've heard feedback from a lot of our families is there's a pretty significant lag time at some point when a student is uh you know needing those services to when they can actually get paired up with a with a counselor and that's something that is across the Northwoods. So I know our our partners to the north and Lakeland have a consortium where they work with teleaalth providers that way and this opened up an opportunity for us to do that as well. So that $10,000 donation sits in a bank there and what we can do is then if if a student needs that that gap coverage I guess for lack better way

to put it we can provide that and funds available to help with that to offset that cost for families. So, very excited to have that. Very thankful uh that they that they saw the need in that and um we're willing to provide some funds to help us get started there. The other one's the the Nakomaomas ATV club in the class 18 or 1984 in Floyd's Timber Tavern. Uh donating some pretty significant numbers to our tees families in need fund. That's such an excellent fund. Uh and it's it's something that we rely on pretty heavily to provide for some of our families that are in need. uh and as we get into the school year to have that extra bank of funds. Really appreciative for uh for those donations. And then we have an anonymous account

that that periodically uh sends us money to offset our our school lunch account which published on the newspaper recently is pretty significant as well. So um thank you for the donations. We appreciate those and and um put them to good use for sure. Second thing on my list, I did have a meeting uh recently, which is something we we I've been trying to do for a while, but I was able to finally connect with our director of emergency management for Lincoln County, Tyler Bhassel. And um we had a great conversation. Um there's a lot of things that Tyler's going to be able to help us with with our emergency operation plans. Uh coordinating countywide resources in the event that there was an emergency of some kind. there's some things that have been um concerns of

ours about just how we're going to provide the services that we need or who's going to supply those services. So, it was a great conversation. We opened the door to many more to come. Uh he's trying to pull together a a committee that's actually going to have uh you know um Lincoln County resources across the board will be present at it or be participating in it and then uh Tom Hawk School District and Merryill School District as well. So, I'm looking forward to developing that relationship further. But it was a great entry level meeting. Took him on a tour of our district. He was incredibly complimentary of all the things that he saw just what he witnessed and going on with um student programming and some other things. So, so it was a good day.

It was a good introduction. Uh wanted to just relay some information to you. I know there's been a lot of things uh in the news that have come through regarding the government shutdown, how that's going to impact schools. DPI has been pretty good about updating school districts on where they're at or or where to anticipate that potential funding issues could come in. As of right now, uh they've assured us that all of the federal funds that are going to be allocated or or divied out to schools over the course of the year have been uh paid to DPI and there should not be any interruptions in services. Uh anything else comes up, I'll they're going to, you know, they'll let us know and and I can relay that information for you. But as of right

now, nothing is anticipated that's going to impact our services or our funding. Tomorrow is uh is the day that we will find out uh what our general aid numbers will be. So, they'll be published in the morning and then Sandy uh will be working on pulling together and finalizing that budget once we get those numbers. So, uh within a a day or two here, we should have those numbers ready. Uh we were talking a few minutes ago about that meeting. It is on the 23rd at 5:30. We'll get that published once we get those numbers and we can plug them into the actual agenda items that are that are listed there. So, by tomorrow afternoon, I would anticipate that we would have that agenda published and and can prep for that and have a copy

of the Well, I I won't put Sandy on the spot with that. I know she's probably watching. So, um I don't know that she'll have the budget fully completed by the end of the day tomorrow. wouldn't surprise me if she did, but I won't I won't put her on that tight of a timeline, but sometime in the near future, I imagine that's going to be that's going to be completed. Other than that, I have nothing but entertain any questions that we might have. >> Is the meeting at 5:30 or 5:15? >> 5:15. >> Sorry. >> Any questions for window? >> Do you want us to approve this uh national conference thing? Yeah. >> Okay. >> I would appreciate it. >> No, that's just in that's in the consent agenda. So, >> Oh, so we can

do it as a part of the >> as part of the consent. Yeah. And I thought if if it wanted to be a concession or a thing, we can always pull it out. >> Okay. Does everyone understand that bullet? Okay. Any questions or concern about it? Okay. Uh then uh you see the consent agenda is presented. Uh any questions or concerns? Then entertain a motion to approve the consent agenda as presented. >> Motion by Lonnie. Second. >> Kers. >> Okay. Motion a second to pre uh approve the consent agenda as presented. Any further discussion? Hearing none. All those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. >> Opposed. Motion carries. Thank you. Staff reports. Again, you staff report should be uh in your report or in the uh uh agenda. Uh any questions for any

of the staff members that presented reports? I I would like to just ask I know there's a recurrent theme about attendance which I get, but how is the attendance? Are you struggling with that or >> I think we're so far No, it's going pretty well. There are always a couple of high flyers at least in elementary. I think it probably is true for every building. Um we're working on those things. We started our attendance matters committee meetings sooner this year than we have in past years. >> Requested that last spring. Typically we have to get habitual truency um measures before we into um that process, but they were open to hey, let's revisit with these kids right away at the start of the school year versus waiting, you know, a quarter in. >> Yep. >>

So, we've already met um with a couple families and that has been positive and >> started out strong. Hopefully, we momentum going. >> Yeah. I think it's impactful, too, that you put you miss what was it two days a month. What that accumulates total loss. >> Yeah. I would just say like in the whole and on a whole our attendance is really good. >> Good. >> Really good. It's it's you have a couple pockets of like a couple kids, but it's overall we have very very good attendance. >> Good. Good. Okay. Thanks. >> And I just want to say thanks again for your reports. There's so the information is wonderful and I know that takes a lot of time. So, thank you to every one of you. >> I agree. Any other questions for staff?

Okay, then Taylor, you're going to give us a report on >> Yeah. >> community education. >> Yes. I'll talk about what's been going on. Um, so yeah, right now going on fall 2025. So this is officially, you know, a year since we started, which is very exciting for the community program. Uh, so classes are ongoing, gaining interest, sign up for study. We've got a Twilight Gate acrylic painting class going on right now in the art room. Uh you might see him cleaning up some clay. Um so that's going on right now. Uh there's still lots of classes that have registration available uh this fall. So they want until the end of December. So if people want to uh sign up for those, there's still classes available uh on the registration website. They can just create

a household account. Uh the website is community.mmy.org. Uh right now I'm currently seeking instructors to teach classes in the winter and spring of 2026. So I'm in the backend stage of building the program bed for those classes. Uh so those run from January to late May, early June. So if anyone's interested teaching classes, teaching a skill, hobby, their knowledge uh to the community, get in contact with me uh remingtons.org. And yeah, so right now building that class guide. Um there's going to be another variety of classes, some ongoing that we, you know, already offer. Um some new that are coming in. Uh working on building new relationships with different orient trying to expand. Um so yeah, uh that's what's going on right now. Uh also ongoing community activities. We've got the community open gym basketball

pickle ball that's started back up. Um and that runs through the end of the school year as well. episode going on. Um, yeah. So, that's what's happening currently and going into winter spring. Uh, also right now I'm working on planning the uh Halloween luminary trail event in the school forest. I don't if you guys saw there's a Facebook page. Um, it's pinned at the top of the school district's website. I just have two of these so you guys can pass them around. Um, oh, and then I have um this is just kind of a flyer. If any of you guys want to share this anywhere in the community, feel free. Um, that's my flyer for for instructors. Um, but the luminary trail, so this is the second annual event. Uh, it's not interfering with the

kinship banquet this year. So, that's a plus. Uh, it's actually going to be on Friday the 31st. Uh, so last year I hosted on a Saturday. I think having it on Friday will be good. Uh, that day we have in service, so there's no school for the kiddos. Um, and we are going to be doing it a little bit longer. I ran at 5 to 8 last year. I'm going to do 5 to 9. So people who are kind of hitting the tail end tring and and whatnot that evening can still make it out to the event. Uh it's at the school forest trail head back at the high school parking lot. Uh and then we've got the cost there. Uh also I have kinship and going to be doing the non-p perishable good per

person as a donation to their pantry. So I guess when they did the move they are they weren't taking donations and now they're looking So hopefully we'll get as many donations as we did last year because that was kind of a hit. Uh so yep, it's on Halloween. Very exciting. And then also trunk retreats happening that day. So Carus is going to be kind of promoting that people come out to the school for the event as well. Um working on organizing volunteers. So the science club student council helping out with the event which is really exciting. Uh they did that last year as well. Uh Tree Haven has an environmental ed station. Uh they call it spectacular specimen. So hopefully we'll get some live specimens out again this year. Uh we had this piece herpatology

society come out last year. Fingers crossed we'll back again because the kids love pet and snakes and stuff too. So yeah, the kids loved it. So fingers crossed about that. Um yeah, the science club kids too. It's really cool. They get to help out an environmental educator and with this event it's a really neat hands-on kids activity uh that they can help out with. Um, so yeah, working on promoting it. Um, it's going to be a fun time, so come on out. Uh, yeah, that's what I That's what I thought going on. So, any questions? >> Any questions for Taylor? >> Just I guess uh how do you see what's our sec second or third year into this? >> Is the uh do you still see the community involvement as much as it was the

first year or increasing or about the same or >> joining the classes? I'll probably to give you some more numbers on it um next time. >> But yeah, I'm definitely seeing increased numbers in certain classes. Obviously, some other classes I see, okay, well, people maybe aren't interested in that. Now, I'll pivot and add something else. Um so, I think it really depends on the class. Um and then obviously, one of the hard parts is finding the right instructor to teach class that people want. So, that's that's my biggest uh challenge, I would say. um people saying, "I would really love to take this certain class, but then I they got to find the right person and make it fit and work it into their schedule, too." Because you can offer a class, maybe they don't

like what time it was offered or, you know, oh, certain day a week doesn't work for me. So, that's one of the challenges, but yeah, I would say community interest regardless is is great in the classes. Yeah. >> Good. Good. >> Anyone else? >> Thank you. Appreciate it. >> Okay. Okay, next item is to approve revisions to the following policies. And there's a few of them. Uh, any comments on them, girls? >> One that I thought I got to K earlier enough. >> Um, in the emergency nursing service plan, um, bullet point A, it reads, "The school nurse has developed and reviewed all relevant policies providing for the proision provision." Goes on and on. It should read the school nurse has reviewed all relevant policies and developed the procedures providing for the provisions. The nurse

doesn't develop policies. The board develop develops policies. So that would be the only um correction or you know if we need to send it back. >> I think we should take it to um >> to Neola and ask them about that. >> Yeah. >> Would that just be a tech change? >> So we can take care of that. We'll contact the >> Yeah. >> Just so that we get that that wording out of there because the nurse doesn't develop policies. So, I would say I would request that we review that that entire policy for perhaps other unintended um wordings along that line related to policies. Um and I know you guys went through it really well. I just kind of want you to maybe look for that word policy and make sure it's used appropriately

>> because we were focusing a lot on the plan emergency plan and how is that covered? >> I know I knew the attempt as soon as I was reading the whole thing the intent is great. It's just you know words matter >> and it's expanded a lot from the original one we had. Yeah, that wasn't there. >> Is committee okay with it? >> We'll follow up on that. Okay. Any other >> Sorry for missing comments or questions. >> Excellent catcher. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Then I'd entertain a motion to approve the policies as presented with the uh change that Sher brought up. >> Long move. >> Second. >> Motion a second to approve the policies with the change. Any further discussion? Hearing none. All those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. opposed. Motion

carries. Thank you. >> And it should be a couple months now before you see any more policies. >> I want that in writing. >> Okay. Thank you. Okay. Update on negotiations for hockey ice agreement. >> So I you did provide some information. Um, I think there was a an updated version of the contract or agreement or contract same I guess it's the same thing here that was sent over today to give you a little background into how this um the process started. We met with Huawei. Well, I I would say, you know, jump in here if you want, Flynn, but we started talking with them last year, probably in January, I think, around some crowd control things and different things. So, we knew coming into this that we would probably have to have a better

detailed agreement just to to ensure that the expectations for both sides are very outlined very clearly. Uh, so we've been involved in this process for about a month now, a month and a half. I think we've landed on something that's pretty agreeable for us. I supplied uh the latest version there I put in there. We we got over this morning. So, it's labeled October 14th update. Um in it, there's only one change that that we're requesting. I'm waiting to hear back from Caris Lao on that, but it's at the bottom of the rental fees and payment portion. there's a bullet that says that just uh talks about providing ice time for um certain practices before the season were to occur and and that's not going to be the case or how it should be worded.

So, it's just a wording change. It won't change anything within the contract. So, we're waiting on that, but other than that, we feel that the things that were priorities to for us both as a as a hockey team and as a district um have been reflected in in this contract and updated. So, um, once it's all finalized, um, you know, it'll be we'll have an agreement on our hands. It is a little higher than what we've paid in the past. So, in the past, dating way back, it was a $5,000 annual fee, but they kept the gate all the gate fees, which equates to anywhere from $7,500 to $8,000 roughly in that ballpark. Um then when we started to try to figure out how um we would and then with that contract I supplied that

in there or that was an older contract but that was the ongoing agreement that we had. It outlined event workers, crowd control, etc. being on their end. So once we got to the point where we knew that we we had to from the school district um cover some of those things on our own side just so we knew it was being done the way that that we needed it to be done. um we kind of landed on why don't we just pay you a flat rate, we'll keep the gate. I know we had some issues in the past with honoring um GNC conference passes and and other things. So, we think this will be a much cleaner process. It really is is going to be the difference in cost is going to be minimal at

the end of the year. Uh we'll have a little bit more because we'll be paying for some added crowd control in some of the bigger events, I think. But other than that, we we should be well within uh where we need to be. So, I'll I'll keep you updated as this um finalizes, but I think um I think we've got an agreement that that's pretty good standing. So, >> during each game though, there's still a school presence there, correct? >> Correct. Yeah, there always was. We had um you know, Ryan himself was at most of the games and I know we usually had an administrative presence there. Um and we also had an event manager that was there bringing the check. So, we always had a school presence at So, you feel pretty good about

this, Mr. Flint? >> Yeah, it just, you know, times have changed, new board members and new people involved and obviously there's stuff going on in the rink that they need fulfilled and we just want to be good partners with them and make sure our program is getting what it needs and we're getting the space we need for the season and they're getting what they need in return from us and it's going to go a little higher. But, I go what Wendell said when you look at the gate fees we bring in, things like that. really that's going to offset that price coming up because we're taking money back in now we're for it like um good example last couple years obviously with team being strong well we're paying seven grand well you have 300 people

how much fees are taking in off our product so so it kind of offsets and just gives them a flat race rate to cover the ice and cover facility needs and everything like that that they need up front and we'll keep working through it and for the most part they think we've met our needs as a program That's what's most important for us and our kids. >> Okay, good. So, I'll we don't need to take any action on this. No. >> How do you Just curious, how do you think this will go forward? You know, our team has been pretty successful if that changes in our attendance would fluctuate, >> right? I mean, are we going to end up >> Yeah, we'll just end up paying more on the years that we don't have high

attendance, but that's our job as a school. It's no different than a girls basketball game and doing double headers and looking at different events, community events that we can bring in to get more people through the door to support the kids. I mean, we're constantly doing that with senior nights and things like that to give more people our games throughout the year and just have to, you know, what we do for that. And we got a couple one and I have a couple ideas to possibly bring back at hockey games. They used to be popular items that they don't do anymore and that might help bring a few more things through for us. So, 74. >> Okay. Any other questions or comments or Ryan or Wendell? >> Okay. Uh, start college now and early college

credit. >> Just a formality there. These are um the three individuals that have met the requirements for that. >> Okay. Any action needs on this? >> Uh, this one does need approval. Does this need approve? Yeah, this >> Okay. Uh, any questions? >> Oh, I'm sorry. No, we looked at this. This does not need approval. It just need They need to be updated on it. >> I don't think that's an approval for >> Yeah, I didn't think it was, but Okay. >> I think it's just an informing board. >> Okay. Any comments or questions? All right. Uh uh next item is third Friday student count student count discussion. >> Okay. So the I attached a report later today. Um which will be a lot better than me trying to explain these numbers without something to

look at. Um overall third Friday count is uh you know in part one of the first checkpoints that we have with developing the attendance that will ultimately make its way to our revenue limit worksheet. And there's some different calculations. So, what you look at here, that first uh box across the top, that's our total number of students that we expect to show up because they're enrolled. So, you can see there's a difference in roughly 37 students were down from from last year. Uh, a lot of that is primarily the bigger class sizes graduating, smaller class sizes coming in, and it impacts enrollment. you get down to the third Friday calculation, the formula is on the right over there, but you'll see it's the um essentially that that number that we have for the total amount

and then we have to um add in the students that are open enrolled out of our district because those are technically our students and then we subtract the ones that are other people's other district students that are open enrolled into our district. Right? So then you get you get that number. Then for the FTE portion of this, this is the part that is that goes onto our revenue limit worksheet. And what we have to do there is take um the number I just I just gave you. Then we have to figure in the um students who are 4K and three 3K and 4K students. We only get funded for a 6. So you have to multiply the number of students that you have there by 6 and essentially you're taking out a point four is

what you're doing. So that's subtracted out. So if we arrive at a number of 1070 that's 31 students less than what we had a year ago once we get to that. That will go on our revenue limit worksheet. Now that won't impact us in that same regard because it's a three-year rolling average, right? So that three-year rolling average will protect us from taking a big hit in any one given year. But nonetheless, you see that trending data of we're losing about 30 kids per year with graduating classes and smaller classes coming in. Um, so at the bottom there you see the the total number. So seniors 87, our 4K coming in this year is at 55. So that's that's the trend that we're seeing right now. Um, it you know we're we're still as far

as our um revenue limit goes and and where we're at funding wise. You know, we know that we're going to see our funding decline as our enrollment declines, but that's something that um I think we're what from what I'm seeing and hearing is a concern across the state of Wisconsin in just about every school that there is. Very few are growing. In fact, our overall state population is declining as well. So, something we'll continue to monitor. Okay, any questions or comments on this? >> Thanks for the report. >> Uh, next item is presentation of the 2526 strategic planning calendar. So, I attached that um presentation might be a little bit of an overkill as far as as we'll go, but here are the dates and the time frames in terms of the attachment on what

we'll when when we'll update when we'll have our stoplight sessions uh and that sort of thing in terms of u our strategic it's it's basically our plan to report out to the board and to our public over the course of the school year. And included in that, we did pick a date of um for our our board um data retreat that we had. I think for the first time last spring, we picked June 12th uh for that date. And I mean, that's obviously not set in stone. We can we can move that if we need to as we as time gets closer, but I wanted to have a date on the calendar that we can prep for. Okay, any questions? Uh, next item is public comment. >> Any public comment? >> Go ahead. >> I

just heard the ad about the National Honor Society doing the yard care and all that stuff. That was a nice ad that the girls put out there. That's a good way to get it out to people. >> Okay. Thank you. Board referrals. Any board referrals? I just have uh one I got to speak to him myself personally, but I just wanted to congratulate publicly uh Dewey Riley and coaching staff for the uh recognition they received from the Green Bay Packers. I think that speaks not only to Dwey but to the coaching staff in general and also very much so to the uh team itself, the players, the team, everyone else. I think that was uh that's pretty good for town the size of tomahawk to get recognized like that by the even the Packers, but

that's okay. But it's nice >> on that front. Um how do they get recognized? How do they get just because they're having a good season or they get operator or what? >> Nominated nominated by someone in sense of the organization and then the organization goes through the process of choose. >> That's pretty cool. >> Okay. I might uh mention that and I was reluctant because I didn't want to make Wendell uncomfortable, but CISA 9 is now doing superintendent searches and at that >> good know, >> but I only share it because Roger Reno is going to be at the helm on that. He's come back to >> doing what he does in Tomahawk and there's many of you that know him. So, sorry. That's okay. >> Okay. >> Let's hope we're not using that service

anytime. >> Anything else? >> Okay. Then entertain a motion to go into close session. >> So go ahead. >> I'll make a motion to go into close session. >> Second. >> Hersh. Second. >> Okay. Roll call, please. Clean. >> Yep. >> Kissinger. >> Yes. >> Kersh. >> Yes. >> Long. >> Yes. >> Swinty. >> Yes. >> Beloo. >> Yes. >> Zimmerman. Yes. >> Black. Yes. Calman. >> Yes. >> Hinrich. >> Yes. >> Okay, we're in close session.
