All righty, everyone's here. Okay, it's past 6:30 now. I apologize for that. I'd like to call this meeting to order, verify compliance with all open meetings law. Uh, do I have a motion to adopt the agenda as presented? So moved. I'll second. Any discussion around the agenda? Seeing none, all in favor? I. >> I. I. Opposed? Um, attendance, everyone is here this evening. Uh, if you are able, please stand for the pledge of allegiance to the flag. I pledge allegiance to to of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. All right. We have the administration of oath of office to the reelected board members administered by our clerk. Um So, reelected members, please come forward. You want to

go? Yes. Please. You want to go first? I think so. Yeah, let's one at a time. Do you get to say your name? >> have to say our name? Oh, god. >> Yeah. Yeah. So, all right, I'll ask you to raise your right hand and please read the oath in front of you. I, Rachel Share, having been elected or appointed to the office of Whitnall School Board, but have not yet entered upon the duties thereof, swear or affirm that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the state of Wisconsin and will faithfully discharge the duties of said office to the best of my ability. >> [applause] >> I, Cassie Rainer, having been elected or appointed to the office of Whitnall School Board, but have not yet entered upon the

duties thereof, swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the state of Wisconsin and will faithfully discharge the duties of said office to the best of my ability. I, Jesse Stoviak, having been elected or appointed to the office of Whitnall School Board, but have not yet entered upon the duties thereof, swear or affirm that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the state of Wisconsin and will faithfully discharge the duties of said office to the best of my ability. Okay, next is the annual organization of officers chaired by the most senior board member of the board per policy 0151.1. Quinn? Okay, good evening. Uh before we get to the voting, we have to uh vote on how we're going to vote. So,

there's two ways. And we will do this by hand vote. The first way would be by voting by hand. And the second way would be by voting by ballot. If we If we do choose ballot, they'll go through those uh uh instructions if we do choose that. So, all in favor of doing it by hand, raise your hand. We have four. No need to go any further. So, that passes. Okay. All right, the process for election of new officers is as follows. I will ask for nominations for each office starting with president, then vice president, treasurer, and clerk. I will ask three times for nominations for each position. The person nominated will need to state if they are willing to accept the nomination or not. >> [clears throat] >> As a second to a nomination

is not required, I will not be asking for a second to the nomination. In event that there are two or more nominations, we will vote as we just agreed, which will be by hand. >> [snorts] >> We need a majority of the nominee to be awarded the position. If there is a not a majority for a candidate, then the nominee with the least amount of votes will be eliminated and we will vote again by paper ballot. All right, we're going to start with president. Are there any nominations for president? I would like to nominate Jesse Stoviak for president. Jesse, do you accept? >> I accept. Are there any other nominations? All in favor of Jesse, please raise your hand. 7-0. Jesse, you're the president. Vice president. Does it Do we have any nomination for vice

president? I nominate Sarah Blonsky. Sarah, do you accept? Yes. Do we have any other nominations for vice president? I nominate Cassie Rainer. Cassie, do you accept? Uh yes. Do I have any other nominations for vice president? I nominate Quinn Burnett. I decline. That was three times, so uh we will vote. All in favor of Sarah Blonsky, please raise your hand. All in favor of Cassie Rainer, please raise your hand. Cassie Rainer gets it. Do I have any nominations for treasurer? I nominate Quinn Burnett. I accept. Do we have any nominations for treasurer? Do I have any nominations for treasurer? Well, I guess I got the job. >> [laughter] >> And finally, clerk. Are there any nominations for clerk? I'd like to nominate Cara McLinus. Cara, do you accept? I accept. Do we have any other

nominations for clerk? I'd like to name I'd like to nominate Alicia. Alicia, do you accept? >> I accept. Do I have any other nominations for clerk? All in favor of Cara, please raise your hand. All in favor of Alicia, please raise your hand. Alicia wins 4-3. And that is it for me. Just to recap, Jesse is vice president, Cassie is Excuse me, Jesse is president, Cassie is vice president, Quinn is treasurer, and Alicia is clerk. The new president takes over and moves on with the remainder of the agenda. All right, we will move on to number four, public comments relating regarding agenda items. Do we have any public comments? No. Okay, we'll move on to five, recognition, WHS SkillsUSA. Let's give it up for these sharp DRESSED MEN. >> [applause] >> MHM, THIS IS COOL.

WE GOT A LITTLE PRESENTATION, but I don't know if you want to do that. It's all right, we could just go without it. We'd love to hear it. Oh, yeah, we'd love to see it. Oh, I mean like I'm the clerk. Oh, oh, good. You have to angle a little bit so that um You can bring your recorder if one of you wants to run it. I don't know if that helps anybody. It doesn't help me. >> [laughter] >> They're more important. They're the audience and you. >> [snorts] >> Just extend. I got it. And you want to start with talking about Skills? Yeah. So, SkillsUSA is a club. Unfortunately, our advisers aren't here tonight. They couldn't make it. Um so, I'll start talking a little bit about the club. Um SkillsUSA is a career

readiness program similar to DECA and HOSA. Um but it's it's a more general one. So, DECA is more about business, HOSA is more about nursing. Well, Skills has both of those and more. Um SkillsUSA, it's about their motto was to bridge the true skilled trades gap. And to do that, they have like a bunch of different competitions for students to compete in at a district, regional, state, and and even a national level, which all three of us were attended last year and qualified for this year. I always say that SkillsUSA Well, that's their motto is they're preparing the workforce of the future. I really like that saying cuz I think it's true. It's a very direct connection between what you uh actually get to learn in your abilities in SkillsUSA and what you go out

and do in your career in the future. And I always say to people when they ask me about SkillsUSA, I tell them, if you're good at anything or you want to be good at anything, this is the club for you. I mean, there's uh competitions as varied as airplane maintenance and like pastry. You know, you can do really do anything in SkillsUSA. So, that's one thing that's so great about it. Yeah. And so, for our accomplishments this year as uh the Whitnall SkillsUSA chapter, uh at state this year, uh first of all, the three of us competed in a promotional bulletin board, which is that board over there that you can see. We'll tell you more about that later. Um I competed in computer programming and won. I also won at the national level last

year. I got first place and I'll be going back this year to make sure I keep my title. >> [laughter] >> Josie Robecki uh got first place in cosmetology. Um and Ben third place in marine service technology. Got a pretty sweet scholarship for that, too. Nice. Um and the Whitnall chapter as a whole achieved gold chapter excellence, which means that we're like a prime chapter in the state of Wisconsin. Nice. Yeah. And we're one of four schools in the state of Wisconsin that actually achieved that. >> [applause] >> So, we thought, you know, what better way to talk about SkillsUSA than actually show you the state champion promotional bulletin board over here. So, promotional bulletin board, the premise of the competition is that a team of three, us three here, works to design, build, and

present an interactive display to promote SkillsUSA at our school. So, it's all based on SkillsUSA's annual theme. This year's annual theme was Champion Your Future. Um and so, we decided to create a board with a Formula 1 theme cuz we thought that was a nice intersection of champion and future. Thought it's also just cool, I think. So, everything you see here on this board was 3D modeled by our team in the computer software Blender. So, this is all There are no AI stock images here. This is all student designed. And we've got these interchangeable pieces right here as Vince just showed you. So, this highlights a few different SkillsUSA competitions. We can swap those in and out. And this is going to be up on display down in the tech ed wing very soon. So,

be serving its purpose here at Whitnall. Um since state, obviously, we've got some national competitors here and we would like to send them to nationals. Um to do that, we've been fundraising not only for the chapter's Fund 21 account, but also to help send these members to nationals. Um So, we've SkillsUSA, we sent especially since our advisors are Mr. Jackson and Mr. Lemmer were our tech ed teachers, um the two of our tech ed teachers. We we've been we make we'll make like custom merch kind of. Like we've made Whitnall coasters. You might have seen them in the Whitnall Canaries Falcon Connect. Um and also we've been doing like general fundraising with concessions and stuff. We worked the What's it called? The track meet last Thursday. We're working this Thursday. Did I did it blazer

clad, too. So, you can see >> [laughter] >> the promo boards. Um yeah, that's about it. We got also a couple photos you can look at either of the screens to kind of see like what it's actually about. I think it looks pretty neat when you're actually there. Uh this is our winners from the state competition. Um this was on the right there. I think that was at Gateway Technical College. And on the left was our Madison, which was where the state competition was. Here we have us at our promo board station. There's Ben at marine service technology working on a boat engine. Josie at cosmetology. There's me programming my heart away. Um [clears throat] this is team engineering challenge. We got team works, you know, rough framing and stuff. And that's all the photos

I got for that. Very cool. Is there any questions you'd like to ask about SkillsUSA cuz we're experts. I'm curious about like how the competitions are set up. So, do you have to compete a certain number of times and then there's like a qualifying competition for state and then based on how you do at state, that's how you qualify? How does that work? >> For sure. Go ahead. Who we who we send to state is up to the chapter. If you take gold at state, that you qualify to compete at nationals. Very So, everyone at nationals, it's kind of like the best. Like at max, you'll have 50 teams or 50 competitors. One They're like Puerto Rico. There There's some territories, too, but Um And then The national competition's held in Atlanta each year. So,

it's a week-long thing in June. Oh, a week? It's a whole week? >> Yes. Yeah. Do you Can I Is that she's Is that she's going to >> ahead. Yeah, go [laughter] ahead. Sorry, I just got engaged so quickly. So, do you like compete and then compete again and the field gets narrow like a tournament? Or how does it? It depends on what competition in particular that you're competing in, but the gist of it is at state only like the very best person from the state gets to attend the national one. So, if you get second place at state, you're not going. So, how does nationals look? Do you compete just once or That one varies by competition. So, for promotional bulletin board, we had to sub a member in last year cuz he's competing

computer programming. So, we presented our board on like Wednesday, I think. And then they they recalled the top 12 teams to re-present Thursday, which we were in that top 12. So, we presented again. Um and then on the award ceremony Friday, we found out the positioning. And he was pretty much working a 9-5 all week. They They gave him really hard programming kind of >> Yeah, no time for the fun stuff in the >> [laughter] >> It wasn't like a tournament like knock it down. They It was a one pretty much a one grading at the end or a couple different things. >> me like a take home basically, but instead of take home, it's more take hotel. >> [laughter] >> So, they gave me like a project to work on, multiple choice test. And

then so, that's at the beginning of the week. And then I take that home, I go work on it every day, and then I bring it back at the end to receive my final results. So, it varies per competition, but those are the ones that we have experience in, so we can tell you about those. Wow. How many categories are at state? Do you know the number? There's There's a lot There's over 100. Yeah. And cuz it also has a college and post-secondary. And to kind of go back to your question a little bit, you're like you're sort of asking how um how the winners determined and stuff. Each competition has something called a technical standard, which is essentially just a rule sheet. And so, a lot of the competitions are based on points. They

even judge like what you're wearing, you know, not up to standard. So, that's pretty comprehensive and that's like that will determine the winner more or less. Yeah, there's everything from cookie baking to cosmetology to engineering and automotive work. And you know, there's over 100 different competitions, so it's crazy. How are you doing on fundraising? Uh we're doing all right. On my projections, we'll make it. Oh, nice. I got it plotted, though. For people watching, where can they go to help out with your fundraising? Um well, we are starting up a SkillsUSA store where we are going to sell like How do I say? Like individual products you can place an order and we'll deliver on because we're like engineering students like first and foremost. That's like kind of what we're good at. So, we're making

cribbage boards custom. You can get any design or like Yeah, coasters. Coasters. >> [laughter] >> Whitnall coasters, yeah. dog tags, like stuff like that. Just like little merchandise bugs as well. You can get custom designs on it cuz you know, but Yeah, we'll start that up and make sure that people get to the link on that cuz that is very helpful. One more. Go ahead if Just to say how do you determine what you're going to compete at as a team if you have various amounts of skill sets for each person like you said cookie baking to what you're doing is vastly different. So, how do you determine that? >> picks their own competition. So, when we went in and we we picked out who was going to state based on the previous performances and

we went up to them and said, "Okay, what do you want to compete in?" And typically it was what they already been competing in or whatever maybe they didn't like for me they didn't offer marine service at regionals. So, I competed in that at regionals and automotive or at state in automotive at regionals. Um And then for team stuff, it's like we got together and said, "Hey, we want to do this. We wanted to make a promo board, continue the legacy of some of our past >> Five years in a row, Whitnall. This one This is This is the fifth year in a row. Yeah, we're just carrying on the tradition. >> a tradition. The The banners are all hanging in Mr. Lemmer's room. Nice. But as for like how the like our team in

particular, we decided to play to our strengths as well. At state, you're allowed to compete in three different categories as long as they're distributed across your either like three different categories, which is occupational, technical, and leadership. So, for like this one, it is a leadership competition. And for computer programming, it's a technical one, so I'm allowed to do both, but you're not allowed to have overlapping ones. Um but at nationals, you're only allowed to compete in one of them if you do make it to both of them. So, yeah. We leave it up to the individuals to decide what they're best at or what they want to be good at. And then we put them into the competition that they desire. And for us, we figured it out how to make it work well. Okay.

So, how would you promote SkillsUSA to the freshmen and middle schoolers who might not know anything about it? That's a great question. We were at of course the Expo night. It's one of the great advertising opportunities for like your middle school. These really catch your attention at the Expo. Oh, yeah. I got I got my spiel down pretty good for like my pitch. We put out a bunch of eye-catching stuff. And as well at the What was that? The uh concessions even, we brought out this board and I got, you know, some of my friends to put the blazer on and represent to tell people what SkillsUSA is all about because I I do think it is very it's a very important club and I do think it is underrated in the eyes of students.

I think it has a very big impact. So, I would love to spread the awareness of it and we do our best. Karen took part of my question, so I'm going to ask do you guys notice if there is like for lack of a better word like scouts at these competitions? Like is there a connection for like internships or Scout I you mentioned a scholarship. Like do you guys have that connection? >> I >> especially at Whitnall, though, [clears throat] the maintenance-kind of related ones, like the the automotive ones sponsored by a Honda dealer, another car dealer that provides the cars, and they have people there looking at stuff. For marine service, they had people from the Mercury like the outboard brand. Um they had people from their university for teaching mechanics there, and they

were the judges. And then for my third-place positioning, I got a $3,000 scholarship at the Universal Technical Institute, which is like the uh the biggest technical institute across the country, where you can pretty much like every maintenance got something from there. Um and they get tools from Snap-on down in Kenosha, too. Yeah, I mean, some people walk off the podium with a job offer, practically. It kind of depends on the competition, but there's a lot of industry professionals, especially in Atlanta. That's great. And for even like at our state competition for like this category in particular, which doesn't necessarily have like a direct job connection, like I'm going to get hired for promo board. Um the judge that was running it last year, she loved resumes, so that was like the number one thing that

she hit us on. Every single SkillsUSA competition, you're required to turn in a resume, you get graded on it as well. And so in particular, even though that that judge didn't like have a job to offer us or any scholarships, she gave us wonderful feedback on how to improve our resumes, and I argue that's like honestly more impactful. As for like computer programming as well, at the state competition, we had a judge, she was from North- Northwestern Mutual, like one of the lead technical fellow programmers, and after I showed her all my work, she said that she'd hire me on the spot. So, I was >> That's amazing. >> [laughter] >> Cuz you're getting yeah, you're competing, having fun, but also getting really cool exposure for your futures. Very neat. >> And I think that

that matters >> Yeah. Outside of employment, I know colleges really like it, too. Since I hear we're going to MST we get $3,000 a year just for being members. That's amazing. There's clubs and SkillsUSA in that, so So, why not join SkillsUSA? Yeah. Yeah. Future salesman here. Yeah. [laughter] Well, you guys are so impressive. I can say I wish you luck, but you do not need luck because your personalities, your skills are going to take you far, I'm sure. We're going to hear great things from all of you. It's pretty impressive. I hope so. And join SkillsUSA. I love it. It's amazing. >> if you're good at anything or want to be good at anything, it's a place for you. >> I love it. That's awesome. Awesome. So, thank you for your time today. We

really appreciate it. Thank you very much. Congratulations. Well done. Thank you. >> [applause] >> All right. We'll move on to six consent agenda A, gifts and donations, B, approval of the February 23rd, 2026 meeting minutes, C, approval of the March 9th, 2026 meeting minutes, D, school safety drills, E, personnel recommendations, F, vouchers vouchers payable. Would anyone like to remove an item? Yes, please. I'd like to remove C. C? Anyone else like to remove an item? All right. Seeing none, do I have an approval or do I have a motion to approve 6 A, B, D, E, and F? >> So moved. I'll second. All in favor? Aye. Opposed? Okay. We'll move on to 6 C. Just a note that I was absent from that meeting, so I need to abstain. Okay. I will move to

approve 6 C. Second. All in favor? Aye. Opposed? And one abstain. All right. Move on to seven reports and presentations A, school board liaison reports. I will start it off. I think that's the order that we have it listed. Um Not a whole lot going on with the middle school. They have another dance coming up, so you'll see information on that shortly. One of the big things that they're looking for right now is additional donations and support for the eighth grade promotion celebration. They're looking for volunteers to do concessions, work the doors, and then just general fundraising so that they can put on the event for the kids and have a nice ceremony and then a dance and some food afterwards. Um They will be uh choosing their officers at the next meeting. They did

the nominations already, and I know that they need additional help because they have people that are leaving after this year, so there are spots open, and they need additional assistance with Even the smallest things can make a big difference and take something off of someone's plate who's been doing far more than they should, but that's what makes those people special. Um But that's all I got for that. Uh we'll move on to Edgerton. So, just so people know, BoardDocs is down nationally, so that's why we're not having that up. But um for Edgerton, the color run is coming up. That is one of our two major fundraisers. It is May 15th. Um the fundraising info actually came home today, so if you're an Edgerton family, watch for that. And anybody can help donate. Our goal

is always $25,000. We usually get pretty close. And then this year, we are raising money for a die cut machine, our general field trips, teacher reimbursement, and then also hopefully future playground or courtyard updates, depending on what we need post referendum, which is exciting. Um and then our next meeting is May 7th. And then the other thing I wanted to mention, student council is starting up the free library at Edgerton again, which I think is pretty cool. And then the National Honor Society has said they would like to help with that as well. So, both Edgerton and the middle school are going to be helping set up a free library at Edgerton. Go to HCE. All right, it's been a pretty busy little time of year for HCE. Last week, um we had the knowledge-a-thon

on Friday, which was is the biggest fundraiser of the year. So, any HCE kids participated in that, if they made any pledges, those are probably coming back home for you to know how many questions they got right and money to be turned in. The PTO also sponsored the fifth grade dance on Friday night, which was fun and successful. Uh the next meeting is I don't have the calendar up, but it's like the 19th, that whatever that Tuesday is. Is that the right date? Uh and very similar to what Jesse said, there is um several members of the leadership board are graduating fifth graders, so there is in general need for some more folks to join and take on some tasks, and officer positions will be voted upon in May. Um I'll probably update again before

this, but then the carnival is another fun event that the PTO puts on. That'll be in early June. And the knowledge-a-thon fundraiser is going to go towards playground equipment and items for field day. I think that's everything. Uh music boosters? All right. Music boosters, solo state solo and ensembles coming up on Saturday, May 2nd. Whitnall's sending one orchestra, one handbell, and several choir events, including the entire advanced choir. Uh so that's awesome, representing Whitnall at state. Um The eighth grade choir is going to the Fireside Theater to see Hairspray on May 7th, so that's super exciting. Um they're releasing clues about next year's musical at the high school. So, uh that has not been announced yet, but it will be announced at the theater banquet. Uh the senior scholarship committee is reviewing the applications, and

the winners will be announced in early May. Uh there was discussion about having a virtual link option for music boosters meetings next year. Um still having a meeting in person, but also having a virtual link on the website, so there's discussion about that. Um just like the PTO's, it will be time to vote for officers in May. There have been several nominations for leadership positions, but they we just need more volunteers overall, and would like to have more parents and guardians participate in the booster club. So, uh some future save the dates, the car wash fundraiser at House of Harley is scheduled for August 15th. There's going to be another e-waste fundraiser, and that will be in October. Um there are many concerts coming up, fifth grade instrumental concert, the middle school high school orchestra

combined concert, high school band, middle school band, middle school high school choir pops concert. Um so, a bunch, and then our Tri-M induction ceremony. The music department banquet will be on Wednesday, June 3rd. Uh so, again, music boosters would love more volunteers. And uh Also, meetings are the same Tuesday, Tuesday, May 19th. So, please join us in the Whitnall High School choir room. Looks good. I'll go over to Greenfield Parks and Rec. Our meeting is this Thursday, so I do not have a report. >> Okay. Hales Corners Parks and Rec. Their recreation summer recreation program is full, um but there if you want to look for um employment for summer rec, that's online underneath um Hales Corners Parks and Rec, so take a look at that. Okay. Sounds good. You have anything for SWSA? Yeah,

I was not able to attend the meeting on April 14th, but um school funding is a big topic um with the lawsuit around school funding and the group had some breakout sessions where they talked about how do we educate legislators about the school funding formula, especially incoming legislature legislators in the new session. All right. Thank you. All right, we'll move on to B, Superintendent's report. All right, well the the guys that were here stole my thunder a little bit in the beginning, but I just wanted to share we had a walk of champions uh for our SkillsUSA kids as they headed to to state uh on top of Vince uh winning the state championship and going for his second national title uh and and then Ben, Isaac, and and Vince with their poster that they

uh or their bulletin board, I'm sorry, not poster, bulletin board uh that they shared. Uh we also had Josie Blackie um take first in cosmetology. Uh this is the first time somebody from Whitnall has has done that. Uh so that that that's a pretty neat thing. And then Alejandra Austin uh won first in the CO2 dragster uh which we've had a long line of kids that have done really well. So, super proud of of all the you know, the guys that presented tonight and just uh you know, our our our whole team uh for the things that they did. We had another walk of champions for our forensics team um April 22nd. They earned 12 silver medals and six perfect score gold medals uh at the at the state forensics um and then junior Mila

Pa- Patricievic earned a distinction of winning the number one poet in the state of Wisconsin with her original poem poem glass castle. And so she qualified for nationals as well. So, we have a lot of great uh things to be proud of. Uh our students are doing uh great things all over our schools and uh we just want to keep highlighting the the awesome things that they're doing. Um speaking of that, our uh the high school recognized their quarter three WOW award students. I remember that's uh they call out kids that are just doing an awesome job in classes. Each teacher gets to nominate somebody for their their WOW award. So, so we had that. And then we also had the theater production of Hamlet that that was last weekend. Um super cool. Uh Hamlet's

a challenge uh because I I I think I went on Sunday and I you know, you probably understand every third or fourth word cuz it's you know, some old Shakespeare stuff. But uh the kids did a wonderful job. Uh yeah, [laughter] sorry. Sorry for English. I only understand every third. Still got it. Um but super cool um >> [clears throat] >> or not uh Friday night our we if you remember, we had tornado warnings going on. Our we had to evacuate the auditorium. We the the band room happens to be a in evacuation place, so you know, uh the staff had that all planned out in you know, ahead of time because we thought something like that might happen. Uh but then the kids just went on with the show in the band room um

which is super super cool uh outside of their element and things like that. So, super proud of them. We have um teacher appreciation week or educator appreciation week is coming up next week. One of our teachers uh life skills teacher Liz Schwabe um had Alec Johnson from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel shadow her for the day uh last week uh because they're working on a a big piece for the teacher appreciation uh week. So, we're we're excited uh to point out you know, throughout the area all the great things that we're doing here at Whitnall um with with our you know, life skills uh classes. So, really excited about that. Obviously, [snorts] you guys there a lot of you at the groundbreaking. We had the the groundbreaking ceremony. Um you know, we had the the varsity

drumline, the the youth cheer, the the varsity cheer uh participating in then um some speeches and it was it was a great time and as you drove by, you probably saw we've got some heavy demo going on now. The the weight the old weight room is almost completely down. And then um the the kitchen the high school kitchen is well on its way. It's it's completely everything is out of there. It's completely uh it you know, demolished. Uh in fact, today Todd sent me some pictures. They're they're doing some trenching in there. Now, if if you recall uh one of the gas lines was broken, so they have to trench down and get that. So, I'll I'll put that in my my update or we'll get some pictures out uh really soon. Uh the middle

school literacy legends did some community outreach. They went to Clement Manor. Um they performed a mystery skit for them and they also did open mic poetry reading to celebrate poetry month, which was in April. And then um you know, we're it's kind of that you know, Cassie talked about the uh knowledge of town. We had their graduation at uh at um Hales Corners fourth graders also went to Madison. We're kind of in that end of the year field trip time and so um our 4K went to the Wehr Nature Center. Kindergartners visited the school forest and uh the first graders went to Discovery World all at Edgerton. Um middle school had their monthly lunch with a veteran um last week and then I just want to remind the board we have a meeting next week.

Uh typically we have the first and or the the second and fourth, but because of the holiday, the uh Memorial Day holiday, which is the fourth Monday, we decided last year to do the first and third for May. So, we have back-to-back weeks of meetings. I also just want to remind you on on your calendars is the gallery walk uh which is next week at 5:30. So, I'll put that in my update my board update again this week for you, but uh just wanted to make sure everybody had that on their their calendars uh 5:30 uh next week. So, that's what I got for you. When you mentioned about the broken gas line, was that something that was already broken or something that got hit? No, that was already broken. It was if you remember

uh when we were doing the before the referendum, we you know, they had a they had the I I think it was just all old. It just the and so they couldn't dig into it because >> I guess I'm just saying so it's not like somebody at home was like, why weren't why wasn't everybody evacuated because there's the broken gas line. They had to redo it and so uh but they're trenching down finally cuz they couldn't get to the I just wanted to make that clear so that the board Yeah, good point. Thank you. Thank you. Why didn't anybody leave the building? Yeah, thanks for the correction. Nope, good. That's what I got. Thank you, guys. All right. We'll move on to eight, action items. Uh 8A Do I have a motion to consider or

I'll I would say approve student handbook changes for the 2026-2027 school year. So moved. I'll second. Oh. Any discussion around 8A? No changes uh from what was presented last time. Okay. There's no other discussion. All in favor? Aye. >> Aye. Opposed? Seeing none, 8A passes. Do you have a motion to approve 8B, consider city of Green's Greenfield school resource officer memoran- memorandum of understanding 2026-2027. So moved. I'll second that. Any discussion around the memorandum of understanding? >> Yep. Do you know when they may have that person in in the position? Yeah, we scheduled interviews for May 7th. So, Cindy, Jackie, and I will be joining some police officers. We'll be doing it here. So, it will be in place then hopefully shortly after that uh so that we can um you know, have have that

person learn from our outgoing um SRO and then we'll also you know, Quincey as you had mentioned in your email, uh we will plan to definitely celebrate uh the work that Suzy's done over the course of the last summer she was here. That's it. Okay. There's no other discussion. All in favor? Aye. >> Aye. Opposed? Seeing none, move on to 8C. Do you have a motion to approve the employee health insurance for 2026-2027. So moved. I'll second. Any changes on what we saw in the >> Nothing. Uh nothing is on the um the change to the the you know, the change of the slight change to the plan still within the UMR UMR network. Uh we were able to finalize um uh you know, an increase of 8.74% uh which we we feel I mean,

we've had 2 years of zero increase. We feel pretty good about we don't feel great about it cuz we all have to pay a little bit extra, but we feel like you know, a couple weeks ago we were or a couple months ago we were looking at a possible large large increase. So, by doing the work and making the the switches, um we've kept it uh to the minimum possible that we could for for our staff. I thought there was a change. I thought tier two is now tier one. >> Yeah, you're right. You're right. I'm sorry. So, so we had um we had tier if you remember when we originally presented for deductibles, there was a three-tiered system. We were able to switch uh switch and negotiate so that everybody is two there's no

no change uh depending on tier for your uh deductible. So, essentially everybody's deductibles will be the same as they were this year uh with just a small increase that the the IRS makes us um do. It's like a $50 or $100 uh change. And since we don't have that in the current list around the board, that is reflected in the uh motion that we're we're approving. Yes. Yeah, it's in there. Okay. Any other discussion around the health insurance? Seeing none, all in favor. Aye. Opposed? All right. We'll move on to 8D. Do I have a motion for to approve 8D as presented? So moved. Second. Okay. Any discussion around that? Nothing has changed with that. Okay. All in favor? Aye. Opposed? All right. Move on to 8E. I will move to approve 8E as presented.

I second. Okay. We'll go through the bid bid packages like we have before. Come on up. Thank you for having us. I think everyone has a printout of what we're going to present today. Um want to thank everyone on the board for your patience over the last two months. This will be the last um grouping of work categories that we bring uh before you. Um so, we'll get through about 40 of them uh quickly and then uh go through with some of the next steps will be in developing um a GMP. You've already seen some of the activity that's starting um out in the field. So, we're excited to uh get over this step um and focus more on construction and getting the new building put in place. Great. >> [clears throat] >> We'll start

with the high school. We had uh two remaining work categories that we didn't get to last time. Uh painting and site fencing. For painting goals, that's basically scope for all the addition and the remodel uh throughout the the school that uh scheduled for paint as well as sealing concrete floors. Your budget about uh 650,000. Uh lowest qualified bid was Sanchez just over 600,000. Site fencing. Scope there is basically our temporary construction fence that you see kind of around the addition. Your budget uh just under 18,000 and uh Century Fence is lowest qualified bidder 16870. So, just uh a slide here that kind of summarizes the high school. Um with all of our work categories uh compared to budget versus actual uh we are 2 million thousand dollars under budget. It's an awesome place to be.

Could you repeat that? No, that's why I was like I have to go look at this slide. >> [laughter] >> Now everyone needs glasses. We all failed. >> [laughter] >> We'll move on to Edgerton. Tyler will take us through. We have the last 11 work categories to go through Edgerton. First one being selective demos. So, this includes the removal of all the old windows that are going to get replaced this year or excuse me next year. But then we'll all the new addition tie-in points and the demo for all the reno spaces. Budget was 237,000. CP Schmidt was the only one who bid on this. 2,000. Ceramic tile. So, this is all the tile in the existing bathrooms, the tile in the new addition bathrooms, and the floor prep associated with it. Budget was 232,000.

And Castle Tile and Marble was 165. So, smaller scope, but uh epoxy flooring that we have in the servery. With a budget of 20,000. And since Floor came in at 21, we recommend proceeding with them. The new wood floor that's going in the gymnasium, which includes all the subfloor, the wood floor system itself, and all the lines and markings. Budget of 152,000. And Schmidt Custom Flooring came in at 158,000. For all the carpet and resilient tile, uh VCT sports flooring within the what's currently the cafeteria, and wall base. We had a budget of 267,000. We'd be recommending Handeland, who came in at 107,000. For site concrete, so there's playground edging, curb, concrete curb, there's concrete walks and sidewalks. Uh budget of 180,000. We'd be recommending CP Schmidt at 180,000. Did I Well, I'm sorry. Sorry.

Painting. Stick with Sorry. Got it. All right. So, painting. So, the general painting, acoustical wall panel painting, and exterior metal painting. We got six numbers. Budget was 154,000. We'd be recommending proceed with Divine Painting. Is the stain with Aurora Green? What's it? Is the color still Aurora Green on the exterior? No. We're changing it? I believe it's It's a blue blue at Edgerton. That's blue? The Aurora Green is no? The Aurora The Aurora Green that we have up here all over the place? There's been alternates to have that uh that material painted as well. So, that'll be one of the things we [laughter] consider for um an alternate as we get to the GMP. And thankfully with some of the savings from those alternates, we'll be able to be incorporated in the project. Window treatments.

So, this is all of the interior windows as well as the exterior windows. And then some of the motorized window treatments within the gymnasium. With a budget of 31,000, we'd be recommending Wisconsin Window Concepts at 28,000. For landscaping, this is all the new plantings, mulch, aluminum edging, some of the specific plants within the retention pond. With a budget of 143,000, we'd be recommending proceed with Stahle at 106. And I'll get you back to site concrete. So, the playground edging, curb, concrete sidewalks. With a budget of 180,000, we'd be recommending proceed with CP Schmidt at 134,000. For asphalt, this is all the stone, fine grading, parking lot, asphalt walkway, and pavement markings. Budget was 118,000. Munson, we'd be recommending Fencing and gates. This is the chain link fence around the retention pond, the composite utility fence

that will incorporate the generator which is to cover up the generator. Um and all of our temporary construction fencing. With a budget of 38,000, we'd be recommending proceed with Marking Fence. So, as we close the bidding at Edgerton, you'll see we did come all the way back and we're actually $3,400 under budget there as well. So, all good news on the two major projects. At originally, we were projecting about a $300,000 over. But as we got into finishes, it kind of closed that up closed that gap. All right. Uh next, so we'll go through the [clears throat] middle school. We got uh 13 work categories there. Uh first one being uh selective demo. Uh scope there is just any wall, ceiling, and flooring demo related to the bathroom and shower changes that are happening there.

With a budget of about 60,000. And CP Schmidt was the only bidder 54 465. Uh there were six other bidders invited. They did not uh provide a bid. So, that you you guys got both bids on those. Is that is that because it's pretty hard to uh estimate? No one else did? It's probably more timing. I mean, this work is 2027 work and it's rather small. Probably a little bidder fatigue with all the projects that are out there [snorts] and this being as far out as it was. Okay. The relatively small too, it's harder when they get kind of broken up into smaller pieces that some of the contractors you know aren't as apt to look at it cuz there's not that much work that it's really going to fill. All right, next one is

masonry. This is just interior wall modifications that happened with the the remodel. Budget 52,000. JAC Masonry was lowest qualified bidder at 55,500. Steel. Scope there is just some loose lintels and some top of wall clips. A budget of about 14,000 and Cardinal Fabricating was in just under 7,000. Carpentry. Why is there such a big difference between those two? Like Like sometimes the smaller jobs people look at them not as aggressive as some of the bigger ones. Um Cardinal Fabricating like they got high school Edger-Ten and this one. Sure, so maybe it's And the owner is alum to Whitnall so he wanted to make sure that he would participate. Uh carpentry uh this would be in in wall blocking. It's mainly door frames and hardware, toilet accessories, and building specialties kind of related to the bathroom

and shower changes that are happening. A budget just under 80,000 and CG Schmidt was only bidder at 69,480. Drywall. Um This is just for some drywall ceilings in the renovated spaces. It's small projects but 4,600 bucks was a budget and Hetzel Sandfloopel came in at 5,600. Ceramic tile. Um This is for new tile walls and floors in the renovated areas. We had a budget of 75,000. Um Uh two bids. Hetzel Tile was lowest qualified at 89,500. Ceilings. It's a little bit of grid and tile where there aren't hard lids. Um Budget of uh 5,900 bucks and Quality Ceilings was in at 5,440. Painting. Some door frames, some walls, and some ceilings. Uh budget was 36,500 and Divine Painting was lowest qualified bidder at 39,950. Uh gym equipment. Um Part of the the scope in the

current middle school gym, there's a hard divider partition that's coming out and a new rolling curtain is going in its place. Uh we had a budget of 15,000 and change. Had two bids, one from Guttsen Company, one from Carroll Seating. Pretty close but uh we're recommending Guttsen Company for 37,500. And same with bleachers. Uh we're replacing the bleachers in in one of the gyms. The budget is uh was 73,500. And Guttsen was lowest qualified at 98,000. And getting into MEPs, so we have plumbing. So there's some sewer modifications, water and vent piping changes, and then some new fixtures. Budget was 135,000. Lowest qualified bidder was Cornerstone One at 152,442. And we got five other bidders there so that kind of continues our our streak of lots of plumbing interest in the project but uh Cornerstone

One was lowest qualified there. HVAC. >> [clears throat] >> Uh scope there is just some duct modifications and some new grills um related to the renovation. There are a few exhaust fans that were added along with some cabinet unit heaters and the control scope for that. Uh we had a pretty light budget for that scope of just under 12,000. Um Zien Mechanical was the lowest qualified bidder there at 50,728. I had two others in the 60s and then Butters was kind of in left field there. Electrical. So we got some fire alarm modification, lighting changes, moving of some outlets, and some low voltage work. Budget there was about 12,000 and uh Roman Electric was lowest qualified bidder at 56,593 followed by Next Electric 65,000. All right, so summing up middle school. Uh this is one

of our four projects that is slightly over budget but not by much. 143,000 over budget. Uh then moving on to Hales Corners. Had 14 work categories there. Selective demo. Um the budget about 72,000. Uh CG Schmidt only bidder at 104,295. Did ask six others to bid but they did not participate. Carpentry. Uh this is kind of blocking, solid surface work related to all the remaining window replacements. And then toilet partitions and accessories related to the bathroom renovations. Uh budget was like 93, almost 94,000 and CG Schmidt was uh only bidder at 131,000. Glass. The majority of the glass scope for this project is the exterior window replacements that remain. Um some of it happened during the last project but uh this this project will wrap up all of the old windows at the high school.

Um budget 293,000. Um Lowest qualified bidder is Milwaukee Plate Glass at 356,000. And there's three other bidders that all started with a three as well so pretty tight group. You mean HC? Yes. Sorry, what did I say? High school. That's okay. Sorry. HC. Framing and drywall. Um Scope there is just some cold form like metal stud framing, drywall, and some patching. And the drywall finishing. Um budget was a little light at uh 13,000 but uh Rockwell Group was lowest qualified bidder at 44,900. And two other bidders in the 49,000 so it was a tight group there as well. Ceramic tile. Also two sets of bathrooms being renovated. Um floor tile, wall tile. Budget 152,000. And we're recommending Hetzel Tile at 104,000 598. 4360 was approximately 4 or 5,000 dollars less but they sub out their

installs. They don't do any of their work themselves. And we've run into issues with that in the past and being a school project with a tight schedule, we didn't feel like the 5,000 dollars was worth the risk. And they're doing the other jobs as well? They are. Yeah. Acoustical ceilings. So we got some new ceiling work um in the bathrooms and then some patching related to the mechanical scope that's happening. The budget just under 12,000. Common Links is the only bidder there 40,152. Painting. Uh miscellaneous wall soffit painting and some exterior angles once the windows get replaced. Budget 24,006. Olympic was lowest qualified bidder there 30,762. Window treatments on the new windows are manual roller shades. Budget 27,000, almost 28,000 and Wisconsin Window Concepts was just under 27,000. Plumbing. Main scope here is with the

bathroom renovations. Modifying rough ins and water piping and new fixtures. Budget 115,000 [clears throat] and uh Premier Star was lowest qualified bidder 87,000 748. Cornerstone One was kind of right behind him and then five other bidders after that so again continuing uh lots of plumbing interest in the projects. HVAC. So Hales Corners like the main part of the project here is adding a chiller that will take care of cooling for the remainder part of the building. Right now, I don't know if it's 50/50 or 1/3 2/3, but uh there's still a lot of rooms that don't have AC, so after this project, the entire building will be conditioned. Our budget there was about 1.1 million, and um the winner was very good. Butters was the lowest qualified bidder at uh 662. And um it's bonus

to note there Butters Fencing did do the previous project there that kind of started this with bringing additional rooms on cooling. And a lot of the unit ventilators that we replaced in the last project were already prepped for the cooling, so the coils are in them. Um so, they have experience in the building and they did the last round, so I think that'll will have dividends for all all parties involved. And you're comfortable with it being half of what was the just about half of what was budgeted? Yeah, I mean, the numbers are are pretty tight there. I think uh With the other bidders? I had twos in the twos in the sixes and threes in the sevens, so. Electrical. Um the main scope here is just the renovations to the the bathrooms with the

electrical scope there. Uh but, the majority is getting the power to the new chiller. So, our budget of just 50,000 and Roman is lowest qualified bidder at 44 643. And site concrete. I mean, that's basically the new pad for the chiller that's going to go out uh in front of HCE. Uh excavation, stone, and concrete. Um Freeze Construction is lowest qualified bidder there at 21 652. And last one is fencing. There is a a fence enclosure that goes around the the chiller just to help contain some of the noise and uh and it is uh is a block from from what you can see driving down the road. Uh budget was 21,000, and Northway Fence was qualified bidder there at 37 904. So, in summing up Hale's Corners, um that particular project all on its

own was about 318,000 under budget. So, just kind of review to date, high school is over 2 million under, Edgerton 3,000 under, Hale's Corners 318 under, and middle school was about 143 over. All said and done, that's 2.229 million dollars under budget. It is uh a good place to be, and um potential funding source for uh upcoming bid alternates that are outside of the base bid. And you tack on the savings from abatement, owner furniture, and roof replacements, that's another 1.5 million, so and everything that's been bid out to date on the on the referendum projects, 3.6 million under budget. So, there are a pile of bid alternates, um and all there's a lot at the high school, there's some at Edgerton, and there's controls one at the middle school, so that's kind of our

next step now that we know who all our contractors are, we'll take a look at at those alternate numbers and kind of hand that off to the district to kind of prioritize what's important, what we want to uh sign up for now, knowing that there are savings from from bidding. And then, there might be some second tier alternates that might want to be a wait and see, we add them later depending on how the first round of renovations go. As other kind of risk funds uh become available. Who would make that decision if we move forward with those options? That's a good question. We would uh we would more than likely bring it into the uh the facilities and finance committee to discuss, and then we'd bring those to to you all uh to then

prioritize and make a recommendation to the rest of the board. Okay. Thank you. And Dan and Tyler are both >> [clears throat] >> very good at at finding additional savings once we get into construction, once we tear down a ceiling and see what's there. Um you know, even last week they were having meetings, um Brady and the engineers were able to jump in a meeting in a couple hours' notice, um and go and look at some of the field conditions. Um you know, and determine if there was maybe a better way of doing it, more efficient, something that we could save a little money on. So, they're going to continue to do that all the way through this project. Um and Dan and Tyler are two of the best at finding ways to continue to

save money for districts through construction. And then, everyone's still awake getting through all those, so you made it. Um but, just the last slide, wanted to highlight I don't know if it got brought up at last meeting, but um uh Kate um and a project engineer um Evan Bailey um that we are working in the trailer. Um Kate put together um a nice PowerPoint presentation and went to Watertown Middle School to talk to um some of the CTE classes about careers in architecture and engineering. Um so, Evan was able to attend a couple of those uh with Kate, so Kate, thank you for including him, but I think it was really well received. I saw an email that teacher sent back to uh Kate and Evan thanking them um and and that the kids were

really excited to hear about what's going on and what what they're going to see going on outside their classroom um over the next year and a half. So, um we'll continue to have more student engagement opportunities and and make the board aware of those when those are happening and and celebrate uh students getting the experience of live construction site. So, with that, I'll open it up for any questions. I don't see anything about security and safety of our of our property and our students. Is that just you picked it up as a as a as a contractor or um do we have any outside agencies walking the property? You're talking for safety of the construction site or things that were designed into the um additions and renovations that address student safety? >> That may uh

have opening for uh someone to get in. Yes, I I think during construction, um we have safety protocols on the site to make sure that the site's secure. And when we shut down exits, that doors that are locked, and how workers access the building. Um every worker that's on the site will be going through Raptor system and orientation of where they can and cannot go, and doors will not be propped open at any time. Um so, that's during construction. Um and then, Kate and her consultants have designed all the final um you know, security systems, the low voltage, um the access control for the key fobs, uh the cameras for um security are all designed and in the plans, and and some of that information um is in the electrical um numbers um for some

of that infrastructure uh for student and school safety. Do you have like weekly or bi-weekly safety meetings uh as far as covering the the job site and our uh our properties? Yeah, each job each school will have um they'll have a huddle in the morning where safety is discussed. And we also have a monthly safety stand down where everyone that's working on the site um gets together and we talk about what's changed on the site, where access has been changed, where we can and cannot um you know, be in the building um at different times of the day, or if there's testing coming up, um you know, we're going to be in close communication uh with Brady and Todd uh throughout the week um to anticipate some of those things and be prepared for them.

But, um job site safety is going to be um you know, it's our biggest concern on a school project is making sure that the students and and staff are safe around our construction site. So, that's going to be our top priority every single day when we're talking to everyone on the crews. I'm sure you have a safety director. We do. Yeah. Is there a person in charge [clears throat] of safety here on site at our properties? Our superintendent um on each of the projects will be uh the main safety contact, and he's in direct contact with our safety director. Our safety director will likely be out here um I don't know, at [snorts] least every other week basis, um keeping an eye on things and making sure that all the work's being performed um in

the manner it needs to be. Thank you. All right. Um I had a question. I actually spoke to um Brady ahead of time, but I figure other people might have it as well. There is not currently uh a retention pond at Edgerton, so can you just speak about why we're adding one and logistics of that? Kate, do you want to take that one? >> Yeah, absolutely. Um anytime there was a major disruption, like in previous surfaces, you need to like handle the water has to be able to stay on the site for a certain amount of time. So, that's one of the things that was required because of the size of the addition. Um similar when Hale's Corners had the addition. And so, that >> Thanks. Um just going off of what Quinn said, what

type of things do we have in place for obviously there's going to be construction going on. And obviously there are still people using public portions of our facilities. Especially like tennis courts at night people be out there. What do we have in place to protect ourselves from let's say somebody gets past the fence and they hurt themselves? How does How does that work? In a construction area. I mean our there's always going to be people that are curious and that's one thing when we do elementary school projects is we like to bring the students out and walk them so they can see it and they they're not enticed to jump a fence or try to do it after hours and and kind of lift the curtain and let them see what's going on. You know,

at the end of the day and on weekends our superintendent's going to make sure that the site is secure, that everything's in place. At the end of the day it's it's a temporary fence, right? If there's somebody that wants to get in, they're going to find a way over that fence. I think we're going to try to do some things with temporary lighting and and you know, possibly cameras to make sure but it's going to be something we monitor very closely to see if anything's you know, been um you know, broken into or you know, breached with our site perimeter. I do uh also with you know, back to the Quinn's question earlier about some of the safety. Um if you look they they have built walls over several of the doors that that were

down there. Um and the reason I know that is because I was I needed to be at a meeting at the the trailer last week and several of the usual cut-throughs were now walls. So, again there's a lot of controlled controlling of access points not just saying don't go here but actually you can't go here. So. And that's that's involving the fire department making sure that they're aware of what exits we're closing down to make sure we're not creating any unsafe conditions in the existing building. And then we're working with the school and communicating you know, what alternate exit routes are there for fire drills now where do students go and updating those plans? Also, my question is it like posted or is there you know, there's the current plan that says this is how

you exit. So, are those being updated for? Yeah, for temporary occupancy, yes. And maybe at this point we talk to Brady about what what upcoming things are ahead just so we don't get too far off. I know I added to this we don't get too far off the topic of the bids themselves. So, if we need them to come back we can definitely discuss that further. I just want to make sure that we're addressing the bids. We're not going too far off topic. So, I apologize for that. Yeah, just to that point I think we we've said uh about every other month we'll come in with a with an update from CG Schmidt Brady and then also as things progress we'll do some tours with the board. We'll do weekly or bi-weekly construction update that

we'll send out. I think Brady can include that with your board update on on Fridays and a lot of times districts like to post those on their website or share on social media. So, we'll find ways to you know, be an open with communication and letting everyone know where we're going to be and working with the school to make sure you know, we understand your schedule is it's going to be a huge undertaking for the team and working with Todd in the past that's um you know, that communication line is always open. Sounds good. Well, if there are no other questions we have or discussion we have a first and a second. Um all in favor? I. Opposed? Hearing none, it is approved. Thank you very much. Thank you. Appreciate it. We'll move on to

nine, announcements. Does anyone have anything for announcements? Okay. Move on to 10, meeting debrief. Does anyone have anything for a meeting debrief? I do. Uh Brady, I I realize this is well early in the game and we are at $3 million over or under budget right now. But I think when you think it's appropriate we would kind of get legal to give us legal options as to if there is money's left over what our options are to do with that money. Okay. Sure. Yeah. The only other thing I had for a meeting debrief was I will work on getting the spreadsheet out to all of you for your preferences on committees and liaisons. I'll try and get that out as quickly as I can. I'm going on the DC field trip this week so it'll

be a little bit difficult to do that but I have a good reason. >> [laughter] >> When is that? Tomorrow? Yeah. 7:00 a.m. Oh, yeah. >> Oh, yeah. Yeah. Exciting. Have fun. But that's all I got for that. Um there's nothing else for meeting debrief. Do I have a motion to adjourn to closed session into closed session pursuant to Wisconsin Statute 19.851 considering financial, medical, social, or personal histories or disciplinary data of specific persons, preliminary consideration of specific personnel problems, or the investigation of charges against specific persons except where B applies which if discussed in public would likely would be likely to have a substantial adverse effect upon the reputation of any person referred to and such histories or data are involved such problems or investigations.
