and adaption of agenda uh if you do all please stand and join me in the Pledge of Allegiance I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States thank you I did not receive any uh public comments regarding agenda items so we will move on to number four that is consent agenda uh sorry what oh you looked at me like all of a sudden I said something wrong okay I was like uh item 4A is February vouchers vouchers payable B January 23 school board minutes C February 13 school board minutes the record of school safety drills e-personnel recommendations f e c c p request summer would anybody like to pull an agenda okay would anybody else like to pull agenda all right seeing none I entertain an emotion to approve item four A B C
and F still moved second right all those in favor aye opposed scene on motion carries uh D Quinn record of school safety drills I just want to say I'm very grateful that we continually do this obviously it's mandated but with the comments that are in there uh it shows a real desire to keep our kids safe and I'm very appreciative because we can't stop doing it and once we stop doing it and there's holes and then something might happen and something might happen even if we do all this but we need to be prepared and I think we are and I really appreciate reading all the comments thank you principals and uh it's just good and that's all I got I have a motion to approve item 4D so move is there a second second
all that's in favor all right aye opposed C9 motion carries and E personal recommendations Quinn uh Kelly it's you you're retiring it's wonderful Nancy has done that two years ago three three years I'm about six months and uh it's wonderful what are you gonna do probably do cool works when I can fit it in it's wonderful and thank you for your service to the district it's wonderful and I know all the kids that come through uh Edgerton uh appreciate you and just as a reminder we recognize all of our employees at the end of the year and the staff recognition so Kelly will be recognized there too but this is the official Yes and she'll have the choice there which ones we bought this is the official approval by the board all right all right
any other comments all right I entertain a motion to approve 4E so moved for a second all those in favor aye aye opposed seeing none motion carries we're on to five action items make an incidental motion prior to the introduction of 5A I'd like to make a motion to divide the question on the adoption of the ELA curriculum to split the two curriculums of Wonders and introduction to literature into two separate motions okay so you want to have each curricular resource approved separately or reviewed separately yes I'll second that all right then we have a motion on the table to split those two things apart uh what other comments or discussion do you have it is a it's a non-debatable item so it's just going to behave either it can be amended but it is
not a discussion well I'm asking you what your you're asking anytime you do a motion to adjust an item you can you can have discussion as to why you're adjusting the item before you get to the purpose of the item itself sure I'm looking because there are two separate proposals for each individual curriculum and to do each of those separately because they are separate proposals on their own Quinn do you have any comments questions I'm fine with just voting Nancy I'm fine either way Karen anything you say I have um different comments based on the two different curriculums so um that will share those individually okay Jesse anything to add I have no comments on this no all right then uh well there's nothing else and we'll call for a vote and I guess we'll
go for a roll call vote if I may I'll start at the end Jonathan um to split the items no Nancy aye Karen yes Jesse no Jason yes Quinn no I'm a no so that's four to two or four to three excuse me so the motion fails all right then we will go to Five action items uh five a Ela curricular resource recommendations we have a motion to approve so moved is there a second second all right now we have discussion and comments um I guess we'll start with you Quint anything to add um well I I saw all the questions that were asked and I read them thoroughly in there there's a lot of good questions in there there's questions that are Irrelevant in there and there are questions that I don't really think
we need to be involved with uh most of them it seemed to me to be procedural uh and I think we as a board knew about this in Spring got updates throughout the year uh from not only Lisa but from John our business director um and I find it very interesting some of the questions were about the cost when we are using Esser funds for this and it is a perfect perfect application of them and then I don't understand if if you're not right if you're all in and you understand and you're willing and we're willing to make this commitment why wouldn't we do it for the full why would we only want to do it tip our toes in there for a little bit and pay 200 000 more if we if we did
I think that the uh the cohort that brought the presentation to us is excellent it was excellent presentation I've said this in the very first debate that or a form that I was in I'm not a book smart guy I'm a street smart guy and I watch people I look at people and I know that those six people that are in front of us know what they're talking about they they are invested in that you know do we want six Amy's I don't think so but I think we won't want to hear me and when when I listened to her and to all the other people in there they and and and uh Katie overseeing it all I am so comfortable with it so I I I for no life for me I don't understand
what the question the money was uh and some of the other questions I don't understand why we're even questioning while how this whole process worked because it was all in front of us and I and I see a lot of this uh campaign stuff about transparency well it was all very transparent every bit of it and then asking for more time and and and and the materials to be present here uh [Music] you know I go back to when we had a full house for covid and I made a statement there I wish all these people would be here for when we did student achievement and the financials and I got several emails tell me oh you know you're wrong on this and and I we're doing I'm busy good and I got a couple
that set I got one that said you're right but here again they had people had a whole week or two weeks excuse me to come in and take a look we're a week we had one person give us one question last time no questions today comments yeah so that's what we do we carry The community's Voice to ask for more time and and to to put that in our Administration and the teachers to bring that stuff in that's that's being piloted out in in our school I don't get it so I understand we have to ask questions but they have to be relevant as well so that's all I got Jason my questions were answered through the process that we put forward um and I'm thankful for everyone to you know kind of clear the
air as far as a lot of stuff and my stuff is more of making sure that our educators have good support throughout the implementation and the adoption of this and that's I think where a lot of my stuff was coming from of making sure that you know where we have things where like some of my questions like for the workbook for the for Wonders that that it's able to be transferable to the digital space and that we're able to see that it's not going to be a lot of like busy work and data entry on the educator side of things so that way it's not a a Time sink as far as that goes um I think that there's a lot there's a lot that's involved in here because it is a lot of things
across you know what uh kindergarten through eighth grade so there's it's not just two grades or three grades it is you know a majority of the students um lifespan within the within the district so but uh but I appreciate the work that everyone puts forward and I just hope that we continue to make sure that we have those that's that infrastructure for for the Educators so that way they they have their voice be heard as far as hey this is working or no it's not or I want to I want to be better as a as a teacher how can I do that what can I do to kind of raise my game to educate better so that's my my takeaways I don't have any questions I did my own research on this um evaluated
all the information that I could I am not an educator or a professional in this field I have to rely on the professionals and Educators and everyone on staff that we have to make the correct decisions the best way to build trust in this program is to trust the experts that we have um I am willing to do that but at the same time making sure that they're held accountable for the decisions that we've made giving them the green light doesn't mean that they just have the green light to just do whatever they want to do it's here's what you laid out we hold them to that and if things don't work then we pivot and we adjust from there but I think we have to make a step to give things a chance before
we completely shoot them down and say that they're no good I can't in good conscious may make a decision whether it's you know going to be bad based on the limited knowledge I have in the background that I have so I I think that um putting trust in this process and the work that was done is a key step in all the things that we talk about in terms of building trust and wanting people to stay here and getting that buy-in from everyone and I think this is a big part of it okay Karen all right I have a few comments so I mean as a board member our rule is to represent the community and um Jason 99 came in together and we spent about almost three hours reviewing the materials in depth so
the first thing that we looked at was into literature because we were told that those materials were being used at the middle school so I spent a lot of time looking at into literature first so I have a few comments on um on those materials I spent a lot of time with those materials I think overall they looked quite good I did notice that there is a lot of diversity and Global Perspective and that I felt that there was a lot of high quality literature included I think as a community member one thing that people in the community do want to know is whether or not there's any CRT in the materials meaning critical race Theory and So based on my review of the materials and and you know relatively close readers as well as
you can read in you know a couple hours I didn't see anything that really concerned me and so I do want to reassure the community that I put in the time to take a close look there is a section at the beginning about culturally responsive teaching which is not the same thing as critical race Theory and I think what this is going to do for students in middle school is show them a broad array of experiences and and Global Perspective that I feel is appropriate for middle school students who have gotten their basic reading skills and then I'm going to go on to learn more about the world so I was comfortable with a good 95 of it there was one section that for me personally on climate and environment that I felt a little
bit uncomfortable with but again we're looking at the big picture and so I think that for most families that this content will work for them and then of course for individual situations families are welcome to approach the district and work with the district as is their right um so I came into this feeling quite comfortable with into literature I was also very pleased that when the review team came forward that we heard that all of the Middle School teachers were involved in reviewing into literature I felt that the materials were very high quality and organized well so I was impressed with that with that package we spent quite a lot more time with into literature and then wonders you know it was six seven and eight for into literature and then you look at wonders
and it's K five through five so there was a lot of boxes of stuff for wonders I wasn't able to spend time with every single grade just in the amount of time we had you know the day was getting really long and um so I I sampled I looked at I think K5 first and fifth grade of Wonders and so it was a little bit unfortunate that I looked at wonders after I looked it into literature because the way the materials were organized didn't present quite as well I did have a little bit of concern about the quality and look and feel of the materials and the durability of the materials compared to what I saw in into literature I looked at a teacher's Edition sort of wondering well this teacher's Edition last and be
durable for six years and I thought that some of the leveled readers felt a little flimsy to me um I also had some concerns with the in the amount of involvement of the elementary Education team on the review team we know there's a lot more classroom Educators at the elementary level so one of the things that I want to ask for the other concern that I had with the process is we didn't get a lot of data and I've heard that data is difficult to get but we didn't have a lot of data to help us understand to prove that these materials are going to move the needle for our kids so I would like to make a subsidiary motion to defer the vote on adoption of the materials to the boards April 24th business
meeting um for for both of the for for the curriculum to so the subsidiary motion is to postpone consideration of the K-5 through 8th grade ELA curriculum to the board of educations April business meeting on Monday April 24th 2023. okay there's a motion emotion I'll suck it okay now we have discussions specifically to the motion of tabliness um since you brought it up I'm going to go to Nancy and continue on this way any comments on tabling this motion because that's what's in front of us no comments Johnson yeah I do um so last year when we were looking at the curriculums as a whole we said we weren't doing alien at that time and we received feedback that we should be doing it then that we can't wait any longer to implement it we
explained why we were waiting and that we wanted to have time to vet it we didn't want to overwhelm the staff with doing all those at the same time so now they've done that work we have it ready to implement and now we're getting feedback from the same people that we should slow down so I think we just need to move forward because if the goal was to get it in place when they have a recommendation um that's where we are so there's no reason for us to wait getting it done now gives them time to start implementing and getting the materials and get going before the summer and I think we just need to move forward and make a decision thanks yeah there's no way that I would vote to table this uh we
have our professionals and Educators that came forward you talk about having every single teacher touch this material every single teacher has the ability to have a say in this every single educator to ask that we spend another two months so that we can get data which we can't gather from two months to get what you're expecting or to have every single educator do this while they're in the middle of teaching not to mention every educator at the elementary schools teaches this subject matter it's not individual teachers like you might find the middle school or the high school is as I responded to you in an email I think kind of a ridiculous ask to put some sort of pressure on them that they all need to go in there and give us individual comments on
what they think of this curriculum Jonathan I think hidden I guess I didn't think about that until he said it but yeah this was a whole conversation previously when we discussed the Mathematics Curriculum and why are we waiting on this and yet we had our Educators take all the time that they did they explained the process to us this is their recommendation it's not going to change in two months of continuing to test pilot however the semantics you want to use it uh to get this going so I don't think there's anything to gain from trying to table this other than some kind of attempt to get other people to vote on the board because we'll have different board members Quinn well yeah I was just going to ask Karen why she wanted on on
that on that one and it's because there'll be new possibly new board members and why do we put that on them we're the ones that's been in front of us we're the ones that has been brought to we're the ones who've been on on on the seats until now so I don't that yeah no Jason encounter no Jesse no comments Karen anything else to add yeah so I think that in terms of implementation the curriculum isn't really going to start to be used with kids fully until next year and in in response to why are we waiting until April 24th the answer is yes there would be different board members at that time and those board members will live with the responsibility of owning the decision making they'll be here to see the results of
those decisions I think that it it would be helpful to try to get some data as to how this is going to work to demonstrate Effectiveness and I do think that it would be valuable to get additional teacher elementary teacher buy-in um and so Karen do we not have elementary teacher buy-in right now we have no idea I feel that there has been some participation but I would like to see more I would like to see more data and I would like to see more more teacher involvement in feedback so I know that these things are going to come up after the decision but I think that um that in the way that you sell these things that having the people buy in on the front end is the most is the most important and
the way to be successful and I think we already have that Karen we had Educators talk about how many people were involved in the process again to answer your question that was already asked I already had uh I already told you in the one email how many people are involved to ask that every single educator because I think that would be the only way to satisfy this request to be involved I don't understand the merits behind that other than it seems like this move is solely to have two to three new board members vote in whatever way it is you want to vote I see no other basis for trying to table this we're not going to get more data than we already have I think until this point I think it's possible that we
could go get some data you know I think it's absolutely possible we have well you can do uh you can run some samples you can run for data and after data I'm not a data expert but we do have one on staff so the who could design it and I think those are I think it's very possible I think that other districts actually do more measurement than we do so well I'm gonna say right now that's really insulting to say to people that are doing a really good job they came forward and put that forward to say that they're not doing their data driven job because you're expecting some data from two more months of testing out lessons I see no merits in that other than some sort of move which just I don't think
worth anybody's time but I'll call for a vote on this and a roll call one Quinn to table is what we're voting on no Jason yes chassis no Karen yes Nancy no Jonathan no I'm a no back to the original uh motion on there we're going to Nancy for comments on the uh 5A the approval of the curricular resource recommendation well I'm not a curriculum expert but clearly Katie and her team are based on the presentation that they made two weeks ago so I'm comfortable with it Jonathan um I I just I think we employ and Empower our staff so to say that somehow us reviewing information over a two-week period somehow we're going to be able to provide a more in-depth analysis then our staff are I I know that I can't if somebody
else can that's great but um I can't I think the data over time will show if it's effective or not and we ask those questions during the last meeting and they explained that they would monitor it and pivot it would be so the board's role would be to monitor that and make sure they're holding true to that um I just also want to thank um Katie and her staff for the time they took to research and respond to all the questions right I think there were 35 that we saw um the grace and patience you showed with answering them especially the duplicates and um it was it's what we've come to expect from you but it's still thank you for doing that but that's it I think we should move forward and that's it yeah
I agree with a lot of things that are said I think our teams and our Educators put in a lot of work to get to where we are I said that last time I thanked them um without the strong team that we have and the trust that I feel that we all should have in them we wouldn't be where we are we are trying to turn that corner trying to address that learning loss and this is the appropriate step to address um the academic needs of the district um I just this whole CRT nonsense there's no conspiracy theory in this District of all of our Educators somehow came together or the few that didn't get their hands on it are the only ones that would somehow prevent it from him there's this is nonsense we're
not one of those districts I don't want us to be one of those districts where that is some nonsense we're discussing or arguing here I'm comfortable with what we have here uh the next steps were put in front of us at that presentation I'm confident in our Educators and I think Jesse kind of put it before if we are not seeing the results we're not doing that that's where we need to Pivot and we need to review and we need to look at it but to try and guess at what that would be or to try and hope that in the next two months we'd somehow know it I think is just wrong I have the trust in the team that we have and it's our job to hire people to hire those people to
put the best people in place and I think we have done that so thank you very much for everybody that's been involved in this process um yeah it's good for my time um anything else to add from anyone yeah call for vote all right uh I'd like a roll call vote um I will start I'll start with myself aye uh Jonathan aye Nancy aye Karen no Jesse hi Jason no Quinn all right motion carries on to 5 b I entertain a motion to approve uh resolution to the Joint finance committee and the Wisconsin State Legislature regarding support for investing in our Public Schools still moved second all right any comments on this I think this is something that came up but I don't know if you want to add to it Quinn since you've been
involved in the process well this is the culmination of our work in asking our legislators to get behind what we feel is needed for our uh our our district and all our schools in in Wisconsin I think I agree and we had the we met with our legislators during the legislative breakfast we put the points out there and I think uh I just commend both you and Lisa for all the work that you're doing in contacting the legislators and coming up with a good resolution to put forward and kind of support what we need from a district and an area any other comments or questions from anyone both for the work that you've put in and making a very concise and deliberate uh ask to our legislators uh at the Capitol that it's not all
over the map that it is very uh purposeful I think is the best word to put for it so thank you for your work into this and making it something where it's easily digestible and it is something where it is uh very clear as far as what our objectives are yeah that was that was a purpose we we narrowed in on three things and we wanted to just those three things we didn't want a lot outside noise and that's that's exactly what we did and I will I will say that I'm scheduled to be going to the day on the Square or right in the capital so uh we'll be presenting this so we we're supposed to we're going to meet with four legislators uh any school board members that have signed up for this
through wsab and then they are supposed to schedule uh appointments with us with our local uh legislators if they're available so this would be presented to them as well at that time and talk through and ask any questions and uh you know it it doesn't it's it tells us where we're at but it doesn't mean he'll be you know being a hill of beans be till uh budgets come out to the governor puts his budget out okay here comes back with theirs but it tells us what we're telling them what we need so on a United front Jonathan um so uh thank you for sharing all the documentation there was a we received an estimate breakdown by District of what the proposed rate if we received a 60 reimbursement rate for Whitnall alone that would
be an additional 1.4 million dollars coming back to us from the state so we're not talking about I mean 1.4 million is a lot and then that would be the 2023-24 school year 24-25 would be over 1.5 million so it's a big deal and that could go a long way for the district um for our taxpayers and everyone if we can find a way to get this approved so thank you for putting in the time and effort yep anyone else all right then I'll call for a vote all those in favor aye aye opposed seeing none motion carries we are on to six reports and presentations update on the whs course proposals and modifications for 2023-24 Captain Charles Tillerson come on down bear with me for a moment all right there we go good evening
everyone um so I want to take a moment to uh share with the board some exciting news around some of our new course offerings that we had so I want to take you back a little bit so first off Gina brown one of my counselors was intended to be here today but she is ill so unfortunately she can't join me right now but uh if you recall back uh in October I know it seems like a long time ago but back in October my counselors and I all sat up here and kind of talked a little bit about the schedule process as well as you know some unintended consequences that we have seen lately with our schedule process so this is a slide that you saw back in October and we left that meeting with
some discussions around the Dilemma that we currently have around providing options for our students that are viable and sustainable so in that meeting we then left that we said we wanted to come up with some ideas we need to survey some students ask around do a variety of different things and so we created some student surveys with the help of Dana Ryan and sent those surveys out to students in October early November time frame from that data we then were able to work together to put together some new course proposals those I present to you back in November were approved that in December and so you saw those new courses go into effect into our course catalog for the start of the school year since then in February here we've had students register for courses
for next year kicked it off with our Expo on February 8th I know some of you were able to show up at the Expo which was great but we had a chance to share with our new our students some of the new courses that we had for them we now have preliminary course enrollment numbers that in March I'll come back to you with and so you can then see those pieces we did think it was helpful however normally in March I don't present to you the exact course numbers we've talked about the Departments and we say in the math department there are this many science department this many and I come to you with a variance request for those that are below the the 18 threshold for the board policy but we are actually really
excited of these new courses so on the left are the new courses that we've proposed so these are brand new to Whitnall and you can see we have a very large number of students who have requested these courses for the upcoming school year so we we really are really Overjoyed with the fact that when we listen to the students and took their their suggestions that they they truly are signing up for those courses um we also revised a few courses some it was name change so it was uh you know realm to either add some more rigor to it or align it better to Pathways so like the Sociology class we're aligning it to the CLEP exam so that students can get post-secondary credit uh Anatomy physiology turning it into a one credit year-long class
so with that I I put on here those numbers as well as either the previous course request numbers or the FTE students and so to compare apples to apples some of those courses were semester-based classes and now our year-long classes the parentheses shows the FTE student which is that equivalence of what it would be if that course is taught over the entire school year when I present the numbers in March you see FTE students because we have to compare say elective class Department that's all semester-based classes against uh other department that's year-long classes so again very excited about these numbers and thought we would have an opportunity to share that with you so really again we're excited that the results truly align with what students requested and what they shared with us in the data
the pathways and the post-secondary opportunities that they were interested in were the ones that they picked these numbers I showed you they're also just the primary course requests we are we have a lot of students who've chosen these courses as alternate choices so perhaps it's not a first choice but a second choice and they'd be happy to have it as a second choice if if possible so really based upon the Staffing classroom space and then the maximum course enrollment we're predicting that probably about 100 students who picked these courses are not going to be able to make it into the course again variety of different reasons why that may happen they may need an alternate but you know those numbers do have some fluctuation in them naturally so 125 students signed up for the sports
medicine class unfortunately not every 125 students are going to get into that course so back in October we did this survey I wanted to just share a little bit more about the survey and so when we gave that survey one of the questions we asked was around career Pathways that students are interested in in pursuing um you know what was interesting for us is the health science pathway is one that students really found interested in but really a lot of students also identified undecided so they're still not quite sure and so having the opportunity for a diverse set of courses for them to choose from was was important for us as well um when we looked at the skills that students really wanted to to learn and and learn more about study skills time management
researching jobs and opportunities interviews skills a lot of these soft skills were the ones that Rose to the top so within those top 10 course areas we did see that students really wanted more and career exploration and life skills then we asked about departments what departments would they want to see more courses in and this was their their result so why do I share the data this was October data well on March 13th we're going to present the preliminary course enrollments we've got some cleanup we still have to do a handful of kids still need to pick some classes or get some uh different choices in in the book we also just need to audit our data to make sure it's clean before we bring it to you we'll bring up any variance requests that
we have that do not meet that minimum per board policy we're also going to bring forth any staffing implications as a real result of these course requests as you know we drive our staffing numbers based upon the course requests and then with that we want to address any additional Solutions in the course request dilemma that we have here where we've got students who may not be able to fit it in the course as well as going back to that survey results and seeing are there any other solutions that we can come up with as we look at that data so again exciting news I hope you can share this with you and if there are any questions happy to answer them can you go back to the first slide how far back title slide this
one no excuse me this one keep going maybe the fourth one there you go that's uh I love it I mean the Home Improvement in maintenance I mean that I think really reflects on the the energy we've put towards that with Tom Herman with uh having the trade days here uh I mean I guarantee you five years ago it would have been very few that's awesome I mean and then in the forensic science I mean that's got to do with with all these shows out there people love these shows it's got it there's gotta be a correlation it's a little bit more than that but yeah yeah but I mean when they see that I mean I'm sure that's where they get the interest you know I really I really believe that and and then
the personal health and wellness very good what about a um I'm sure it's in business but uh you know a personal uh business personal personal finances yeah so that is a required graduation requirement for all of our students so all of our students do take personal finance with our personal finance this next year we're actually able to transcript that through uwgb um the individual we hired has that credentialing so part of that as well is we've got the right people on the bus for all these courses that's that's needed thank you you're welcome anyone else Jesse we talk about um kids who may not be able to get into some of those classes what are the determining factors as to whether they get in or not uh really it it aligns with where it fits
in the schedule we've got a variety of different factors that go into the initial schedule build process but there are some courses that are our Standalone courses so I I know I'm going to have one section of choir for example and so if that one section acquire is a Top Choice for a student and that happens to be the same class period that fits for them for something else they they have to make a choice with with which one they want to choose from so that just naturally happens with the schedule build process we we do also want to take into consideration students in their four-year pathway so if they're signing up for courses as a senior that is nice to have but if they're a freshman or sophomore and this is really in alignment
of their their Pathways we want to make sure that they're getting in those classes courses like college algebra typically that's a either third or fourth year math class for students and so that's a class that we want to make sure most students get into again if that conflicts with a different class period for AP seminar then choices have to be made okay thank you welcome anyone else have anything Jason oh slide seven when it's the student survey regarding what they're interested in pursuing and this is just a more of just informational for myself um science technology and dot dot dot engineering engineering okay that's all in one thank you can I just piggyback with what you're saying about the scheduling my experience with all three of my kids at the high school has been working
with the guidance Council to make it really easy the communication back and forth especially now in talking through the options they'll explain it oh you're not just ending up with a schedule and changing the last day so it's really easy for parents or even students to reach out to the guidance counselor get information and make sure that they're fitting the schedule how they want to do so through those resources available and again Gino apologizes for not being able to be here tonight but yeah I I would incur the school counselors really work hard to try to help students pick the right courses have a lot of conversations leading up to this and even involving like Tom Hermann and outside resources MATC other courses I mean my son just took a BYU online course this year
and that was recommended by Grant so they're really knowledgeable they know what's going on around and really helpful thank you very much and we'll we'll see in a few weeks sounds good okay we're on to 6B superintendent's report Dr Olson a couple items first of all happy national public kick that off I'm not sure we belong to the page Group which is the partners for the advancement of gifted educations that's hosted at cisa we are one of 17 districts that participate in that and it celebrates all modalities of giftedness not just academics so we are pleased this is a reschedule event this Thursday we are hosting an event here um in which districts from Elm are students from Elmbrook Greendale Greenfield Kettle Moraine Waukesha and Whitnall will be participating first stage is coming here to
provide some training to students um on creativity and Leadership so we're excited to be able to host that this Thursday and just wanted to provide you that update I know we haven't provided you all of those there but Katie attends the meetings regularly and we are hosting this event which was rescheduled from a weather Day from a couple weeks ago um the other event uh our annual payday event is on April 18th so save the date for that we are getting out that and soon to be um having people sign up for that as you know that's around our financial literacy we started that right before covid and then returned it last year and so we'll be getting those out there so save the date on April 18th we've been having a lot of walk
of Champions this is the time of the year at our high school the plans are for Dave to come and do his winter update from clubs and Sports on March 13th because our next board meeting after that on the 27th is spring break and many of our students and coaches may not be around um so we'll provide an update there so our high school has been doing walk-up champions for wrestling a boy swim and dive today there was one for Deca and later this week for gymnastics and mock trial so those are the events um even some of our clubs are starting to head to state for that so in some of our other groups like forensics and that will be hitting that place to determine if they get into state so um congratulates um
to them uh related to all of our co-curricular activities um starting Wednesday we kick off youth art month uh March is always youth art month and on Thursday at the high school our high school art teachers will be hosting and I think our Amber will be also providing some middle school so they're going to do a joint between our Middle School here from 6 to 8 P.M on Thursday so the art show and kick that off I've been also working with the Hales Corners chamber and our two high school art teachers to get some of their work in some of our local businesses as you know Hales Corners doesn't necessarily have a downtown but there were businesses that were interested that do have a face some of our banks and some of those places were
interested in doing that so we're going to start a little bit small this year and put some of our student artwork there so they were very interested in that so working with both of them and some students to get some of our businesses hosting some of that artwork and we have upcoming Salon Ensemble from our music students next Saturday so right now the only team that is still going on in winter sports is boys basketball what happened to girls they lost on Saturday night to a very tight Martin Luther King upset though it would have yeah from us on Friday yeah it was an amazing game so yep so we're just getting rid of that and believe it or not our spring sports are just around the corner for that so um yep and so
we'll hear our Rebecca students are there for three days so lots of stuff going on so that's my report what is mock trial is it what it sounds like yeah they go and compete at the courthouse I think we're there at Kenosha Racine this year yeah we're seeing Courthouse this year so it's regional they go and compete and they're dressed up and they have to do them just like that mock trial they get points for that they practice they learn about that law and then they score it in the top so our team made it to State we'll go compete there that's awesome good luck moving on to 60 legislative and advocacy swsa when I have a executive committee meeting tomorrow morning wait hold on I'm sorry sorry yep you're right sorry Quinn yeah jumped
the gun I was too too excited to see school board liaison reports you can go to you right away for the the liaison to the best PTO there is in the district Edgerton Elementary School right yeah you got it girl all right so there's a uh there's an auction going on right now it ends in about a day so um I'm sure you can get on their website uh all kinds there's 120 some odd different things it goes to support the PTO that's what's big and we're going to be hosting our candid Forum uh the second Thursday in March not meet and greet excuse me not oh good you want to go yeah all right go for it all right so um booster club I know quite a few people attended but Falcon Fest was
phenomenal um Liz and the rest of the stat um the rest of the officers and the people involved with that always do a phenomenal job the proceeds this year are going to recreate the Courtyard at the high school um I'm sending around a copy of the rendering um once the money is tallied Liz will come and we'll have bigger drawings and production excuse me construction plans and whatnot but so it's really exciting so thank you to everyone that attended and to the booster club for putting it on um the Tyler hero Jersey retirement booster club was involved with that concessions and everything else thank you to the staff and everybody that participated but during the 50 50 raffle the money that was earned went towards deferring the cost of seniors participating in the band trip
with Nicolet so thank you for that music and theater groups met as Lisa said so an ensemble is on March 4th at New Berlin good luck to all the participants the middle school and high school concert band and jazz band concerts will be March 22nd and then the middle school and high school final band concerts will be the end of May you can find the music meeting minutes on their webpage within the district website and then continue watching for more information from a district about the High School of Music spring theater Productions wonderful Nancy anything we didn't meet in February but March 10 is the dinner I think you've all been invited to attend where for the park and rec they recognize the coach of the year and the volunteer of the year and things
like that and so so myself and another former board member will be honored at that night because he moved out of the district and I'll be rolling off so so that'll be my last dinner there so who's the former board member uh Dave and I can't think of his last name but he moved out of the district area from green out of Greenfield yeah he moved out of Greenfield Jesse HTE PTO doesn't meet again until March 21st Jason and I got to go to the middle school PTO meeting and since we're there so we had uh and uh I think everybody there got to learn about all the candidates and I did a big thing out of the middle school is people should volunteer and help out the middle school PTO and volunteer concessions at
the track meet that's coming up um help out at the dances I think they always are looking for help with chaperones especially if Miss receiver can't make it then there's a lot of people that we definitely need to get in to fill that uh that big void but I think there's a lot of positive things happening that the middle school is working on I'm gonna get out of there sir I had to break out early because I had to go to Franklin County Council yes thank you I was like I know I was forgetting something so that means we have an hour and 35 minutes to get out of here and put in a harder so that's exactly right but who's counting yeah all right but now you can go with legislative yeah he just
told me I gotta cut it short he's hungry it's okay always so we got I have executive community meeting tomorrow uh our Focus has been on what we just did so we will uh also we'll uh we'll take that for that document and then uh submit it to the swsa so that they know that we're behind it as well uh and then we are um in the talking stages of Hosting a meeting with several chamber of commerces and uh be sponsored by swsa and the Chamber of commerces to present a lady by name Ann Chapman and she is from wsbo was and she put on a presentation at the at the wsab convention um and it throws some history as as funding for school at public schools and where we were and where we're at
now and we we feel that if we can get the business people to see what's going on as well and get their support and and inform them as well that it can only help everybody and better so we're working on it we we haven't won on the North side at the Mequon feedsville school district and we're going to have one here at Whitnall it worked out that something worked in our our favor is to hold it here so it was the first time we'll see how it works out we we hope to have a fair amount of people I'll keep you guys updated on this I think there's a projected date of April 19th if if we are able to hold that that thing is that what it is 14th there you go I'd have
