Please rise and join me in the pledge. >> I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty
and justice for all. >> All right, at this time we will have the ceremonial oath of office for our new board members. Um they were officially sworn in on April 17th. Um and so this is basically ceremonial. >> Okay, I'll read and then you can read after me, but raise your right hand. State of Wisconsin, Winnebago County, I >> Carrie Blake >> Cindy Hatton >> have been elected or appointed to >> Winneconne Community School District School Board member >> but have not yet entered upon >> the duties there of >> Excuse me. >> I'm sorry. >> You read after me. >> Okay, got you. >> but have not yet entered upon the duties >> but have not yet entered upon the duties >> thereof, swear or affirm that I will support >> thereof, swear or
affirm that I will support >> the Constitution of the United States >> and the Constitution of the State of Wisconsin >> and the constitution of the state of Wisconsin. >> And will faithfully discharge >> the duties of said office >> to the best of my ability. >> So help me God. >> All righty, THERE YOU GO. >> ALL RIGHT, AND BOARD MEMBERS ROLL CALL, PLEASE. >> FLAG. >> HERE. >> CALVERT. >> HERE. >> BERRIDGE. ACKMAN. >> HERE. >> OTTMAN. >> HERE. >> KENDY, HERE. HANSON. >> HERE. >> And recognizing our administrative team, we have Dr. Larson, Mr. Gerabek, Mr. Maneer, Mr. Pitch. And that's it. All right, and visitor recognition, of course, we have the sign-up sheet in the back. Um if you could sign up if you haven't already done so. And then open
forum, I have Mr. Adam Ahrens. >> All right, I've been uh asked to say a prayer, so if anybody wants to join or do it with me, go ahead. So, Heavenly Father, we thank you for the opportunity to these members to serve on the board. We pray a spirit of wisdom, discernment, help them see beyond the surface to understand the needs of our community and to make decisions that honor you and advance your mission and faith. Uh give them the courage to act with integrity and grace to act with compassion compassion. And Lord, bless the entire school board, teachers, staff, and parents. Please watch over them, guide them every day of their lives. We ask this through um through Christ our Lord. Amen. >> Amen. >> And I would also like to say shout-out to
the teachers for teacher appreciation week. Um I know uh sometimes they don't get all the thanks they should, so uh I just shout-out to the teachers. >> Thank you. Thank you. >> All right. That will conclude the open forum. We will move into the consent agenda and I would like to remove items A to or the April 20th meeting minutes and B the exec- executive session minutes from April 20th due to our new board members. So, I would entertain a motion to approve item C through K. >> I'll move to approve items C through K on the consent agenda. >> Second. >> Motion by Kelward, second by Akman to approve consent agenda items C through K. Any questions? >> Um, now I did have a question. I have been communicating with Michael and you've been
aware with the Myron. We've been trying to to figure out because um, we didn't have the final lien waivers that had gone along with the final payout. Um, and there were some final lien waivers. So, I'm just trying to make sure that we have everything consolidated such large amounts and just ensuring that we do get the final lien waivers from the subcontractors to make sure that I got forbid if something ever happened that we're completely covered with that. Um, so I'm I'm I'm going to go and just um, just comment and have my questions on this. I I don't and I I'm Have we asked about that ever in the past where we've gotten the back up and support to see that we've made sure that we've gotten all the third party lien waivers to
make sure that we're covered with that. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Before we sign off, we go through everything as a district. Back when we built the high school in 1998, we had a situation where we had some issues afterwards, but we had signed off, and so, um, we go through that whole checklist >> Excellent. >> um, before the district signs off. >> Excellent. >> And I think Mr. Samolinski said he was going to provide those once he had them. >> Excellent. Thank you. Beautiful. Any other questions? Roll call, please. >> Flag. >> Aye. >> Calwert. >> Aye. >> Ackman. >> Aye. >> Aten. >> Aye. >> Kundi I Hansen. >> Aye. >> Uh, motion to approve minutes from April 20th, 2026 regular school board meeting. >> So moved. >> Second. >> Motion by Kundi,
second by Calwert to approve, um, minutes from April 20th, 2026 regular school board meeting. Any, uh, corrections, comments? Will you >> Yes, I just wanted to make one, um, additional change, um, to the minutes, and that is under high school civil engineering and architecture independent study presentation. Um, I wanted to add the sentence that the presentation was a school project and does not reflect the position of the Board of Education. >> Just to make sure that people know we are not, at this point, going to referendum for an elementary school. Okay. Um, Mr. Kundi, are you all right with that addition? >> Yes. >> And Miss Calwert, did you second it? >> No. >> Okay. Are you okay with that addition? Okay. Motion by Kundi, second by Calwert to approve the April 20th, 2026 regular
school board meeting with one amendment. Roll call, please. >> Flag. >> Epstein. >> Calwert. >> Aye. >> Ackman. >> Aye. >> Aten. >> Epstein. >> Kundi I Hansen. >> Aye. >> Uh, approve executive session minutes from April 20th, 2026. Questions or comments? Roll call, please. >> Ackman >> I >> Addon >> Epstein >> Kundi I Flag >> Epstein >> Cowards >> I >> And Hansen >> I >> And moving on to the extended summer contracts. As Dr. Larson explained, these are additional hours above and beyond what the teachers work during the summer to either prepare for the upcoming school year. Work with the students in terms of class changes, just those things that go on during the summer. So, and as you can see, it's basically the same amount of money as as we spent
last year. For a total of $19,210. Any questions or comments? We're going to need a motion. >> So moved. >> I'll move to approve extended summer contracts. >> Okay. Motion by Cowards, second by Kundi to approve extended summer contracts. Roll call, please. >> Ackman >> I >> Addon >> I >> Kundi I Flag >> I >> Cowards >> I >> Hansen >> I >> Winona County E-Academy Handbook This is a something that we share with Keel. Keel is the administrator the administrator of our E-Academy. I think this was pretty well put together in terms of what it provides, how you qualify, who makes the decisions if you're in or out, what the expectations are, not only on the student's part but on the parents' part as well, the grading, um any all of that stuff.
So. Any questions? >> One one question for Mr. Fish. >> Sure. >> Um I might know the answer but now with the ELA Academy, I noticed the grading goes ABCD F. Is that because this involves Kiel School System? Is that the system they use? >> Yes, and Kiel is just like we convert our grades to ABCD F on the back end of proficiency, right? Kiel does the same thing and ours converts the same way. >> So Kiel >> So is Kiel's grading system? So when we look at um referring to um 6G. >> Yeah, page 88. Well, you don't have access to >> Yes, it's that matches with what we do as a system as well. >> Okay. >> Just like we so we do a 3-2-1 grade here in the school that starts and
then that converts into a GPA for students. Um Kiel uses >> How does that work? I mean how do you convert it? I don't know. I just I'm just curious. >> Yeah, we have a conversion chart and I can send that to you. I don't have it right off hand but I've got it it's on the website and I can send it to you as well. >> I had to read it like three times. I'm like, am I seeing this? What why is it different? >> Oh, yeah. It's okay. >> Okay. >> Peggy, refresh my memory with this. Do we look at this at each semester end or each semester to determine numbers and so on or >> Yeah, kids will be applying is it in June? >> Yeah, so we'll have a date this
will go out to have it safely approved. It'll go out in our newsletter on Wednesday and then families will have up to June 4th to apply and they'll get a notification so they'll know the exact date here for you by June 15th if they've been accepted and then we'll have another they can then apply over the summer as well by August 3rd. Then we'll have families know by August 17th, and then have another one have 17th and let them know by 24th. So, we like to keep that rolling deadline because we also don't want families to say, "We applied in May, we'll find out by August." Uh so, we want families to know kind of what the plans are for the next school year. So, that's why we kind of have those rolling deadlines for
families. >> And then they can apply again next semester. >> Yep. Yeah, we have that in January as well then again for spring semester. >> If they're in in the fall semester, do they have to reapply for the second semester? >> Nope. As long as they're in good standing with and we reevaluate. Um and actually part of what I do is I check weekly kind of how the kids' progress is going with their assignment completion along with the counselors and then we're reaching out meeting with families just like we kind of would do here with kids that are struggling or falling behind. Um so, we're just continuing to connect with them about their grades. >> Okay. >> And just to point out, we review this each year, so it's a yearly contract. >> Yes. Yeah,
so we do I know we're just really talking about that the other day with getting our contract with them for next year. >> Okay. >> That's why I gave you last year's contract. We don't have the new one, but you'll be asked to approve that shortly when we once we get it. >> So, we'll be able to evaluate them. >> Yep. I'm sure there'll be a slight price increase, sir. >> Okay. >> Yep. That will have to be adjusted. >> You I'll give you both again so you can compare. >> Anything else? Motion to um approve. >> I'll approve. I'll move to approve Winneconne E-Academy handbook. >> I'll second that. >> Okay. I'm sorry, which one was that? Okay, sorry. >> Motion by Callwaerts, second by Auten to approve the Winneconne E-Academy handbook. Uh roll
call, please. >> Auten. >> Aye. >> Kandiyohi Flag. >> Aye. >> Callwaerts. >> Aye. >> Ackman. >> Aye. >> Hansen. >> Aye. >> Uh 2026-2027 extracurricular activities code. Um this is our used to be know known as our athletic code, but we have uh many different extracurricular activities in there because we want our students to be on their best behavior not just in sports, but in you know, if they're on court or if they're in music halls or SkillsUSA or whatever. Um, so hopefully you had a chance to uh, read through that and uh, are there any questions? >> Not a whole lot of change. >> It looked good to me. I think it's pretty much the same as the one from last year. >> wasn't much change from last year. >> There's only that
one adding JB and JB 2. >> That's right. >> I did ask Mr. Lee about the NIL or the the name image license cuz I I I know some policies include or some people include that in there. Um, in their athletic code or but um, it kind of falls under the WIAA um, behavior and that kind of thing. So and we have a separate Tyler said it was in the student handbook as well, right? Yeah. >> And then it's in the policy that >> policy 2431 and it's scholastic athletes. >> 2431? >> Yeah. >> So we have it addressed. So I I was comfortable with that. >> And we talked about that um, that NIL or NIL, we talked about that the September 25th meeting is when we updated that policy to include to follow
and abide to the WIA standards within NIL as far as the meaning of that. >> And WIAA is very they're very strict about it. So I was very comfortable with that. All right. I would make a motion to approve the 2026-2027 extracurricular activities code. >> I'll make the motion. >> I'll second. >> Okay, Hutton. >> Okay. I thought I made the motion. >> Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't hear you. >> That's okay. Um motion by Kundinger, second by uh Flag to approve the 2026-2027 extracurricular activities code. Um roll call, please. >> Kundinger, aye. Flag, >> Aye. >> Calverts, >> Aye. >> Ackman, >> Aye. >> Hutton, >> Aye. >> Hansen, >> Aye. Um admin reports, they are in your packet. Um any additions from any of the administration that's here? >> I just have one
from Tyler Lee. >> Oh, okay. >> Um you may have seen this on Facebook or other social media posts. Um Brody Schaefer was recognized at the annual WIAA Scholar Athlete Ceremony uh in in Stevens Point. Tyler also attended. He'll also be recognized at our um senior awards tonight night on May 13th. So, pretty amazing. Very nice. >> Very very good. Yes, awesome. Good for Brody. >> Mhm. >> All right. Any questions from the board? >> All good. >> Okay. >> I just wanted to make one point to congratulate the Winneconne FFA. On Saturday night, they had their annual recognition. The premier leadership that comes out of that program in Winneconne is just outstanding and congratulate to not only the student body, but also to Mr. Melby and Miss Olszewski as the egg advisors. >> Okay.
Um board reports, any communications? >> I have one from Andy Pletka family, Mary Wittenback, Allison Alexander and family. Dear Board of Education and Administration, thank you so much for the card and the donation to my dad's memorial fund. He spent his life serving and giving to others. The money will continue to bless others of all ages, mostly through the Optimist Club and the EMS. Thank you for your thoughtfulness, especially during this difficult time. Thank you, Andy. And Andy is a middle school, high school fight and and health teacher here at the schools. >> Mrs. Hansen, I just forgot to mention one thing, kind of tagging on Adam's teacher appreciation. We actually decided in Winona County to do a staff appreciation month. So, all this month we recognize not just our teachers, but all of our
staff members. So, this week um is a special lunch provided by our food service. Um the next week, I believe is a flower from the FFA everybody gets to bring home. And then the next two weeks are two little gifts that we have for everybody. So, we decided to recognize everybody cuz I think our teachers recognize the support that um all of our custodians and aids give as well and be hard to do their job without them. So, we choose to recognize everybody all month. Nice. >> Awesome. >> All right, committee reports. Um HR and finance, um I will respond for Jill. We have not met. Um marketing and public relations have not met. Policy? >> We have not met. >> Okay. All right, I would entertain a motion to adjourn. >> So moved. >>
Second. >> So, McElroy seconded by Ackman to adjourn. All in favor say I. >> I. >> Opposed? >> I just need to get a picture. Susan won't let it go.
