It's March 2nd, 2026, 6:30 p.m. We are in the Winn County Middle School Library. Meeting notices were sent to members of the press, members of the school board, and were posted on the front doors and/or in the vestibules of district school buildings. This is a meeting of the board in public for the purpose of conducting the school district's business and is not to be considered a public hearing. There may be a time for public comment as indicated in the agenda. The meeting will also be available to watch live at www.youtube.com. Uh, please rise and join me in the pledge. >> I pledge algiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Roll call, please. >>
Stellner >> here. >> Calartz >> here. >> Veric >> here. >> Aman >> here. >> Harder here. Kundy here. Hansen. >> All right. Well, our administrative team, we have Dr. Larson and Mr. Jerobac here tonight. And with that, um, do we have anyone for the open forum? >> No, there nobody signed up. >> All right. So I will close open forum and move on to the open session uh consent agenda. >> Um I will move to approve the consent agenda as presented. >> I'll second. >> Uh motion approved by Callowarts, seconded by Harter. Any discussion? Again, I'd like to just acknowledge the donations and the support from the community uh towards uh certain areas within our school district. And we appreciate the support uh as it's ongoing. So, thank you. >> All right. If nothing
else, uh roll call. >> Stellner, >> I cowards. >> Hi. >> Ecman, >> I >> Kundi I. >> All right. Moving on to sub support staff compensation. So this uh a couple weeks ago, the HR finance committee met and one of the agenda items was support staff compensation uh effective for uh next school year 26 through 27. And it was recommended um to us and we we agree of a 72 cents per hour increase for all support staff. That amount comes from uh looking at the CPI which is 2.63 and applying it to the highest hourly wage. Uh when we when we analyze these things, we look at uh other local districts that we can get information on and this really moves us uh it doesn't move us to the top but it moves us
much more uh competitively aligned with neighboring districts. So, uh, the finance committee is recommending that the board approve a 72 cents per hour increase, uh, to support staff. >> And looking at this, I I just want to make sure we do understand that the support staff is the comparables shown here are with the pairs and uh, starting and highest and so on regular as well as highest regular ed. But this also includes our custodial staff. They're included as far as our support staff. So, um, just want to make sure we point that out as well. >> I just wondered, Jill, um, with, um, yeah, I got the mindset of the hourly person. I was that my whole life. I'm just wondering psychologically, I mean, is it economically feasible to bump it to even amounts? um
you know instead of the penny thing um like rounded to a dollar. >> Well, part of the the reasoning with the 72 cents again is is looking at that that top earning wage in the CPI and even by doing this we're still spending less than we did in those increases last year. >> Um it so we didn't really contemplate that. Um it's just really we were really looking at how to to get those lower ends bumped up uh more competitively and then you know you can't just do the lowest end and not recognize your two year three in that. So um this was what was recommended to us um and we thought it was it was fair and good. We didn't really contemplate the the rounding up or anything like that. I'm not sure if
rounding matters that much in the getting rid of pennies aspect of thing either because that's only in physical cash. Right. Right. The rationale that you used here in the basis of getting the comparables. I appreciate the way you did it. >> Looking for a motion? I am looking for >> I'll make the motion to support the recommendation from the committee. I'll second >> motion by Cundy, second by Stellner to approve the 72 cent per hour increase for our support staff. Any further discussion? >> Um, no. I guess I just would like them to know how appreciated they are. So, >> absolutely. >> You know, our paras and our special ed aids and our janitorial staff, it looked like we were towards not the bottom, but towards the bottom. So, And that includes our lunch lunch
people and people too. Yes, everybody. Everybody. So, yeah, they're all appreciated. I'm glad to support a a race for them. >> And this might take a little stress off of Mr. Katie. Stop the revolving doors >> janitorial. >> Let's hope so. >> Yeah. >> All right. Roll call. >> Cowarts. >> Iman. >> Hi. >> Harder. >> Hi. >> Kundi Stellner. >> Hi. >> Veric. >> Hi. All right. Um, admin reports in in your packet. Uh, there really isn't anyone here to add unless Mr. Jarbeck would like to add anything. >> Um, just to keep you guys in the knowhow of our server project. We were able to buy I put this in my notes, but we have been able to buy the storage part of the server project, but the other part which we had
a signed quote with a local vendor, but they haven't been able to even get the parts. So, we're kind of working on a contingency plan now to at least get through possibly the next year with kind of the system that we have building in some redundant backgrounds with like spare parts. So, but we're keeping an eye on the market, but right now there just isn't anything available to buy for the rest of that project. So, but thankfully we got at least half of it kind of secured. >> Thank you. >> So, the portion that is secured is within the dollar range that you had presented to us then. Okay. And I mean, we could get the other stuff if we wanted to, but it's going to be $50,000 more, and that's just to me doesn't
seem like a good use of, >> right, >> district resources. So, >> well, we appreciate that. All right. Uh, board reports, communications. >> Um, I do have a communication um from, uh, Mr. Dan Dner to the board of education. Thank you for the support and donation in my dad's name. It went to the New Berlin Education Fund where my dad was a teacher for 40 years. Thank you, Dan Donner. And I have one other thing I want to mention is um congratulations to the girls basketball. They're advancing on uh playing uh they'll be playing B brilliant in Walpeka coming up in the next days. And as well, I'd like to communicate the fact of supporting our community um with our our program here, our egg education program, our FFA program, and our outside adult supporting
program, FFA alumni. We held two events here within the last week. Uh Monday night was our first annual uh bingo night. We had just under 200 people from the community supporting that. And yesterday, we had our annual 19th annual chili feed. And kudos goes out as well to our high school poker band which we uh coordinate and have them along with us uh with the Tom Snider two-fifths uh party band and we had just under 300 people come in for that event. So well-rounded all about. We certainly appreciate the support um for our programs which the monies and the and the donations and so on go back to support our program here at the school. So all grade levels from middle school all the way through the high school with the FFA and egg program.
So we appreciate that support from the community. >> Great. All right. Human resources and finance. Um we have not met. We are meeting this Friday, March 6th. Marketing and public relations. I'm guessing they have not met. That's Donna's. >> Correct. >> And then policy. >> And I have nothing. Wow. >> I I just had one question. >> Sure. >> Um, now since Joe Pish isn't here, I did have an a couple AVID questions. When would I bring those up? Next meeting. >> You can email or call him always. >> Okay. I was just thinking for learning sake for everybody, you know, I'd want to do it. >> Sure. You you can ask him next meeting. Um, I would just give him heads up so he has the information that you need, right? >> And so
that you don't have to wait. Okay. >> All right. Well, that's it for the meeting. So, do I have a motion to adjourn? So, moved. >> Second. >> Motion by Calloward, second by Harter to adjurnn. All in favor say I. >> I. It's the shortest
