All right, first on the agenda is update on championship signs. Yes, make sure that you give me all the correct spellings of your name so we can put them up there. No, that's your boy. >> [laughter] >> Now, we'll turn it over to Craig. Some exciting news. Yes, so earlier this year the village of Travis and everybody knows the signs coming in on 96 as we're coming from Green Lake or if you're coming from uh uh 96 the other way there's like four of them there and and some are in good shape, some are bad shape. All right, and of course with bad weather it gets blown down. Travis had an idea. Uh first off, the school doesn't have anything to do with it. It's more the clubs pay for them and everything else. The

village actually owns the land and stuff that way. Uh so Travis and the village had an idea to get the all the club presidents together and to try to make one kind of unified sign. I don't know if you're kind of like me when I go into like new cities I always kind of look to see what they have, but you can see that as you're going through all these cities. And uh and Travis and including myself mainly the village are kind of going around and try to see if we can get some businesses to help sponsor or some clubs. The school is also helping kick in for the cost as well, too. Went out to bid. We got three different designs and they're bringing it to where we're going to pick one of those

designs and seems that the village got enough sponsors and we should have some new signs up. So, it'd be kind of cool. And it'll be on the spot so when we win some more, stay tuned. I'm guessing I don't know the actually I'm thinking by next fall I would assume it should be up or the summer. I see. Yeah, I think that's the goal is to have them up for the beginning of the school year and then replace the ones that are up there and take care of the ones that are in disrepair so we have two really good looking signs up both ends of the village and that'll be great. With room for a lot more. >> [clears throat] >> Awesome, thank you. Uh next up is bussing RFP. So, I uh understood that

we were in the end of a five-year uh bussing contract this year. It ended at the end of this year. Was made aware of that at the beginning. Uh talked to Phil about a month ago over at the garage and he I asked him if we had a quote yet for um the next contract and how many years they may want to go so on and so forth and he said no, but here's the number of the person that you need to talk to. So, he kicked me up the up the line and to another person and um proceeded to say that, you know, things have really changed in the last five years and you know, we're going to probably have a double-digit increase in cost of bussing. And I said that's interesting because over

five years it's gone up 4% each year so it's gone up up 20% over the last five years and we've reduced the route. And she kind of said, yeah, but you know, a lot of other things have gone up. So, um with that I said when are we going to get the quote? And she said probably by the end of March. So, I went and discussed it with our business director Mr. Dan Storch and I'll let him take it from here. Uh sure. So, as Jim said, it's the end of a five-year agreement. We're not unhappy with the service we get from our students. Uh but it's certainly an opportunity for us to take a look at the market and see where the numbers that they give us align with that and uh kind of

see where they're at. And uh so it'll be um RFPs are due April 3rd and um we anticipate having a recommendation for you at the next meeting. So, we sent it out to three other companies. So, we'll get the one by the end of March. And then we went to Right Way, we asked them to give them one. Uh Kobussen and Lamers. With no guarantee that they'll send it back, but we sent it to them. All right. Did you guys pull over at Kobussen? And for the record he shook his head no. All right, any questions on it? All right, next on the agenda um upcoming events. So, uh if you want to start off we do have one that's happening this week which is the senior play, so Beauty and the Beast. So, if

you get tickets, take the opportunity to go. Um I think we're going on Friday, so. Um Otherwise, the summer school pre-registration opens on March 23rd. Um And then we have no school March 27th. Um Wrightstown Community School District FFA recycling event March 28th 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. No school April 3rd and 6th. Summer school schedule online opens April 8th at 8:00 a.m. Um classes are first come first serve and then Wrights- the Wrightstown Elementary School Parent Network bingo night is April 16th. Just a clarification, we did change the date for the pre-registration to the 19th, correction. Yeah, from the 19th to the 23rd like he said just because of our last two snow weather days. All right, so pre-registration is on the 23rd just like Craig said. Thank you. So, can I can I

confuse parents ask for a clarification? So, we had to pre-do that pre-fill in Skyward and then now again pre-registration opens next week, but then official registration so there's really kind of like three steps to the process. So, we have to make sure parents are getting all three. Okay. Because if you didn't do the first stage you're not in our system. Okay. You have to be in our system first and then you actually register. And then to schedule the the the the pre-registration is what allows you to see the classes and and all those kinds of things and then the actual where you're signing up is the third piece. Or the on the in April. Okay. So, it's kind of like kind of three different things. So, it's like the first one is interest. The second

one is registration and the last one is selecting your classes. It's actually three distinct different things. Do you want to be are you interested in summer school? That was the first part. So, we got the interest to determine how many placements all that kind of stuff, right? Next one is then okay, so now you're actually like you're in now so we need to know like where you live, who's coming, you know, all that kind of stuff, but what's your information? And then um April that's when we actually select classes. Okay. And then for some of them they're really just concerned about the high school lifting. Those parents still follow that same process, the three right? Cuz they'll register for that. There's actually a we sent it out on Parent Square today. Um it's going to

come out actually Monday along with the thing. Uh we're still going to do a Google form for that kind of we're going to keep going. Or we're going to do a Google form and then we're going to upload those into Skyward. Yeah, probably wondering why it's so complex. >> [laughter] >> It's a little complex this year. We've never used our student information system to run summer school in the past which has made it extraordinarily complex in the background to actually apply for the state and get the right information on that. So, that's part of the problem we're trying to fix on this year is is finding a interesting because we've never used summer school and used our sister system for summer for this meeting. So, Craig, yes or no, I still follow those three or

do I just look for the >> No, you look for the Google the Google form. Okay. Uh it'll help it's a little um they let us still do it uh there's little gray areas because we're trying to Yes, oh yeah. All right, so there's little some and working around. We can't just say, you know, family who wants a 6:30 class fills up. Well, there could be a senior that has a freshman sibling and they could come in so we're we kind of really try to work around families' needs. So, we have some families that live five miles away so they pick up everybody there and they bring them they try to go in there. So, I we'll still do that, but Okay. Just the one, yeah. to tell you. So, look for it on Monday.

The letter to parents went out today and then the Parent Square will send out with another Google form. Okay, thank you. It'll be the same Google form that you filled out last year. I'll get it to you. Thank you. And if you do it all right, you get a free bingo card on that day. >> [laughter] >> All right, other any other questions on upcoming events? All right, next is open forum. Um nobody signed up still. Uh Board of Education minutes. So, discussion and possible approval of the February 17th quorum minutes. So, they're attached in board docs. I'm assuming everyone had a chance to review. Um questions on those? From the 17th? If not, be looking for a motion to approve. I'll make a motion. I'll second. All those in favor? Anybody opposed? 7-0. Uh

discussion and possible approval of the February 18th meeting minutes. They're all attached in BoardDocs. Questions on them? Otherwise, we're looking for a motion to approve. I'll make a motion to approve the February 18th minutes. I'll second. All those in favor? Anybody opposed? 7-0. Um With Melinda not there, should it be 7-0? I don't know. Well >> I don't have to oppose it, right? I just don't >> to oppose it, yeah. You vote 6-0 1. >> Yeah. You can still approve the minutes, all right? Yeah. Yeah, usually you don't though because you weren't there. Okay. All right, and next is the February 19th. Um meeting minutes. They're all attached in BoardDocs. Chance to review. We're looking for a motion to approve. I'll make a motion to approve the February 19th. I'll second. All those in favor?

All right. Anybody opposed? 7-0. Next is the February 19th closed session uh special meeting minutes. I'll make a motion to approve the uh 19th session minutes. I'll second. All those in favor? All right. Anybody opposed? 7-0. Next is the February 24th meeting minutes, special meeting minutes. Open for a motion to approve. I'll make a motion to approve the the next one, February 27th? 24th. I'll second. All those in favor? Anybody opposed? 7-0. Um I was Tiffany was there for that one, wasn't she? 6-0-1. All right, March 4th meeting minutes. Looking for a motion to approve. I'll make a motion to approve the March 4th meeting minutes. I'll second. Does it mean Sure. I'll select one. All those in favor? Anybody opposed? 7-0. All right. Next is the March 6th meeting minutes, special meeting minutes. I'll

make a motion to approve the March 6th special meeting minutes. I'll second. Nikki's got it. All those in favor? Anybody opposed? 7-0. All right. Consideration to approve monthly bills listing 26. So, open up for discussion if there's questions. I want to talk maybe we get it on the agenda for next month to talk about a report or something like that for James to provide. In the sessions and stuff that we do at the conference. That's kind of the normal practice that we always get like a summary report of what's going on. How are we tracking against the projected budget for the year and things like that. Versus like just individual receipts and stuff like that. So, we will have something for you for the end of March where we are ratio percentage wise. We can

provide that to you. Okay. Got that, Danny? Yeah. [laughter] But John, do you still want that as I'll come with like some examples of what I can find from other districts and all the things that people presented for examples if you want to go through. Okay. And drive something. Thank you. Other Do you have any questions? >> Questions on it? Otherwise, we're looking for a motion to approve. I'll make a motion to approve. I'll second. Tiffany, Kelly, got it. Here we go. All those in favor? Anybody opposed? 7-0. All right, discussion and consideration to approve the sale of alcohol on district property for the Wrightstown Area Baseball Association travel and Little League tournaments. I'm going Oh, I was just going to recuse myself. >> Yeah, hold on a second before you do that. Let's make

sure that we understand what these words mean before we move in. Um so have some legal advice for you. And I think there are three different things that you should answer before you decide to any discussions. One is a recusal. A second one is abstaining. A third one is voting. And I think you you go right down the line and say either I'm going to recuse, abstain, or vote. And that is up to you to make that decision and that's your personal choice. The difference is is if you recuse yourself then the normal process is for you to leave the room while this is going on and then we would come back and get you. So, then you're totally out of it. Um if you abstain from the vote you stay in the room and

you listen to the conversation you don't participate in the conversation, but you listen to the conversation but you're going to abstain from the vote when it is taken. And then thirdly, of course, is is you vote and participate in the conversation. And you need to make that decision on your own, but I think in this particular case because there could be more than one person that feels the need to do a a recusal or an abstention, um I think we would be good to start out with that and then go from there. Any questions from anybody? What would be a reason to abstain versus recuse? Um there is a subtle difference. Obviously, a less subtle difference is if you recuse, you leave the room and you're totally out of it. And if somebody approaches you

at the supermarket, you can say I wasn't there and didn't have any part of it. If you stay and listen to the conversation and you just abstain then obviously you were part of the even though you didn't participate, you were involved. You By listening, you're involved in the conversation. So, there's just a little bit of a difference there. A recusal means you leave the room and then there's then there were six, then there were five. How many people recuse and you vote with the people that are left that didn't abstain. An abstention, if you stay in the room and listen to the to the conversation if you abstain, abstaining is a no vote. So, if there's seven people and two people abstain obviously the other five people would have to make sure that you had

a of the majority rules, but you're starting with two two no votes, right? So, the other five the other five then have to keep that in mind. Not that necessarily should sway their vote, but they need to understand that you always need four to pass something. So, four out of the five would have to vote for So, that's the subtle difference between the two. Any other questions? So, why don't we start if you don't mind, start Kelly and go down the line and say recuse, abstain, vote. You You can pick whichever one of the three you want and it's totally your choice. Vote. I'm going to abstain. I'm going to recuse. Vote. I think I have to abstain. If I I think I'll vote. I don't I don't know what to do. So from from

the things that I've done in the past, I don't know if I have a problem voting on this. My problem is I work with this organization as an umpire for them at times. So, technically paid by that organization. >> You're an independent contractor, so it wouldn't really have anything to do with them. You're an independent contractor as a as an umpire. Okay. Okay. Then then I'm okay. Vote. One vote, two vote three vote, four vote. Bye-bye. Mhm. Um abstain and vote. Okay. Danny, would you take Tiff down to the district office or just take her to the elementary school office. Did you bring your knitting? Take her to the executive lounge. Yeah, to the executive lounge. [laughter] So, there's the resource Okay. Um so I don't know how this is this is your baby, so

you you got the information that was sent to me and then I asked the questions. What are the actual dates of the tournament? Do you have assurance from the village that they would give you a class B liquor license? Do you have a 1 3 5 year plan? And uh would you like to have a presentation at a BOE uh workshop or a meeting uh to more fully vet if needed? And what is the timeline for the answer? And you saw the answers to those questions, and so I'll leave you to it. So, I guess I'll I'll start the conversation at least. Our policies do allow for to happen, right? We know that because we approved the village um festival to be on the district grounds in August. Um and also we had conversations. This

was brought up last year. Um and policies can be um altered so that it it allows for it during a specific time period. Um so I'm not questioning on the policies that we have in place. I guess that's the first thing right now. I don't have a question on the policy either. My my issue with this is I don't know that we were given um I don't know that I've had ample time. Like I said before when we gave the festival uh to the village, right? I talked to the police chief. I think I'd like to have a conversation with him and have him do some research. I also see that not all these were answered, these questions that Jim had were answered, such as would you like to have a presentation? Um like I

I think that would be fitting for someone to come here and answer questions. Um no issues or um Old World had zero issues obtaining their permits. I mean, I guess I can accept that, but my issue is just like I would like to see a presentation on this. I would like to see additional information. I would like to just have additional time to think about it. I'm against it. It's just I want to make sure that we dot all of our eyes and cross our tees. I also I guess the only other issue that I have is when this was initially brought up it was for the tournaments, and now we're adding weeknights to that. I don't know that What is the LL like that? So, the the league tournament, they have a league tournament

between the city like like the like Mishicot and Chilton and Hilbert are all in a league, and then this is Wrightstown's year to host, I believe. It circulates between the the the different cities, and this year is Wrightstown's year to host. So, that's probably why it was added and not in the previous discussion. I don't know. I don't know um I don't know if I would or should separate that out. So, I I guess I'd want a little more time to think on that. So, I guess other my proposal would be to postpone a vote on this until we're allowed to we have either somebody here to give us a presentation or we get additional information, we have time to get additional information. That's that's my comments. The one question I had is when we

originally talked about this, we talked about like when the times of the sale would be. Is it the entire tournament? Is it that I mean, from reading this, am I to assume it's 4:30 to 8:00 and then 7:30 in the morning to 8:00 or is there cut off times? Yeah. That you know, like is there anything >> I I was going to say I think they're just giving you the general tournament type times here. There's not any specification as but you're right, like do you stop liquor sales a certain time before your tournament's over? Or just their thoughts like do we >> And and can we dictate that? Yeah. I mean so to go back a little bit in history um when this was brought to the board before we brought there was motions made

to alter some times. There was another additional motions made not to allow it or >> expand versus So, so I guess we ultimately are in the position to tell them what that should look like, and either you take it or you leave it. So, if we want to say, okay, well, the LL gold bracket, we would make a motion to um give them the times we're okay with, you know, from start to finish of the that the alcohol sales can occur, the home tournaments, July 24th through 26th and 31st through the 2nd. Give them the times on Friday, we would allow it from start to finish. Saturday would start at noon to um completion and Sunday noon to completion or something. So, we have ability to dictate that a little bit. Um So. Um I

guess a concern I have is a little bit of the that concession stand and the facilities of where it would be stored. Mhm. I mean, it's You don't trust our kids? Well, it's not just that, but I just feel like that building I don't want to say is the most secure. My At least for the last tournament, I guess I can just speak from the There was a cooler truck that was locked and secured. Okay. From the standpoint I would assume there is no the that facility no longer has any kind of internal cooler. It's all been stripped out, and it is just refrigerators in there. So, they I would assume if they're going to do alcohol sales with the volume they would need, they would do the refrigeration trucks again under under lock and

key. And I'm assuming we would have to then establish some guideline. I mean, I've also seen the people working those concession stands, and we do rely on teenagers and kids to work a lot of those shifts. It's hard to get parents that are all times. Correct. Yeah, I'd like to see some kind of how are we ensuring people are of age to consume that. I don't see I mean, we're assuming there's wristbands. I don't see anything in this plan about that. >> No, I just mean that we talked about having >> No, I get that. What I'm saying is I I think the plan needs to be more fully developed before I'd be comfortable voting yes on on the premise. I'm not against it. I just I I think we need to do a We

need to look due diligence on our part. I do diligence on our part, and I think they need to do their job with the presentation, to be frank. Do we see any other issues? I'm just trying to think the picture of what are some thought process of why we didn't want to do this. Stop and think with me. Um I mean, we've had minimal um I think feedback from the community that, you know, it's a a youth event. Um they're not really allowing alcohol sales at it. >> Yes, it's a youth I've been to many ball tournaments where it's it's sold. Um the odd thing is is that it's just that our this event to Wrightstown is on school property. Um so um you know, there's always the possibility I think if you had somebody

who is a minor, but that's on their plan of how they're going to execute that sale. >> Well, that same situation would happen >> [clears throat] >> could possibly happen, potentially happen in the village party, too. Yep. Right. I mean, that's that to me like I I just want to see like I just want to see more of the plan as to how it's going to be. Like for instance, when Travis came and he did did his presentation, there's a separate drinking walk down area that they were going to have like that you could consume alcohol within a certain area is what he had said, right? So, if that's that's the kind of stuff like >> And and I think you're right, Jason. I think they need to define that. Like are they selling this

at the main concession stand or is it a separate area? You know, is it 18 year olds need to be there to to dispense? You know, nobody under 18. >> Correct. Um you know, and I think you're right. I think Waupun needs to define that in order for us to feel comfortable saying yes. Yeah, I'll also take those Well, like we did with the the the village request, I'll I'll talk to Chief Manager just see if there's any He was very Yeah, he was very nice, and he said that he would just reach out if he hasn't had experience. So, he said he'd reach out to me, but if he needs to done it and ensure that I you know, that they haven't had any major issues with it, and just would honestly let them

know. I think a big piece of the puzzle, too, that we're not hearing them say is the why behind it. I mean, obviously this is going to generate considerable revenue compared to what they've been able to generate, and I I don't see that I don't I just see I mean there's some discussion about the bottom that phase one would be to improve the concession stand itself. Phase two would be field improvements and then there is a discussion about joint. I'd like more information on that with the community you know looking towards doing a fourplex. You know is that on school property? Like defining that like how how would we see that going forward? I think there needs to be a little more definite in there. I think they're kind of in an odd spot where

they presented to us not once but actually twice. So I think they they may have missed the fact that there's a lot of difference in the board. That changed so I think that was I will also say there's a lot of new faces on that board. Yeah. Um as well. So um Tiffany's husband Mike is probably and Jared Farrell are probably the two veterans but Phil is no longer and there are multiple people who are newer to the board. So I think it kind of is a new set of people kind of coming forward newer you know just like us. Um so yeah I think the conversation whatever was said in the old conversation to the old board I think you're right it needs to be redefined by the new people new WABA board to

the new school board. So who is communicating with them? This letter was drafted by Mike Van Bree D. Okay. So I assume he might be kind of spearheading cuz he is the tournament director. Okay. Um the president is Jesse Peterson I would assume he is involved as well as Jared Farrell who's been working with the community as far as diamonds planning going forward. I think your question is how all the board came up. But I think your question is who from this board is going to communicate back to them. I think it would let me back up a little bit. Let me back up a little bit. I mean I can do that. Um Or is it safe to say that we would maybe like to see this at our next workshop as a presentation?

I think that would be good. >> more details then? I don't see any reason why Tiffany couldn't be Yeah Tiffany your conduit. For sure. Her husband. Well she just put it was that worded? She she recused herself from voting or participating in the conversation but I think if there are questions that you would like from the board to give to them I don't think it would it would be fine for her to be the delivery person. Or Kelly if you wanted to that'd be fine too. Either way. I guess I was saying workshop because it gives us it's not an actionable item I don't know if that's it. Oh yeah yeah. Like it gives us time to process and ask further questions and then we take it. And the workshop is open to you. I

just want to make sure you can it's obviously something Mhm. So what's So let's define our ask. Yes. So we want them to present at the workshop and we want Plan for sale to include Um security how how it will be sold and minors Yeah manage stored time frame of sale. Wristbands are not allowed. Is that a function of the plan? I think just how they how are they going to enforce how are they how are they going to enforce proper consumption? Do you question any limitations on hours? Yeah I think we just put that in they asked about it or something. Do you want to add anything? And then their why and the benefits. Please. Again I feel like I I have an understanding of the big picture but I think it just needs

to be clearly defined. Like we're they're not just asking for this because they want to party at the ball diamond. Correct. Like there's a bigger much bigger reason. What behind this and I would like them to define that. For sure. Okay. So let me just rattle off of the ask. So plan for sale which includes security storage time frame wristbands management of sale. Then also details of benefits for the the why behind it. And then I don't know about that first part. Just again the hours hours and then too like we have to ensure that there's not kids near the sale of So segregation. Exactly yeah that's the same topic. Well because we have kids in the concession stand as well that's the main concern. Right just that same 18 and older. Okay so plan

for sale which includes servers security storage time frame so hours of sale wristbands management of sales and segregation of consumption area. And then the plan the benefit of consumption. Well do you want to add it with management What about that whole that whole corner? What let's just add they can present it on their own. I mean I assume And then the details of the benefits of the why. Yes. Right. Do we want the segregation on it? I mean in all honesty I'm going to tell you that you're it's going to be pretty impossible >> it's impossible right. I I just wanted to know if they would have any kind of a plan because I just want to know the process right? Because segregation doesn't necessarily mean that you're not where you're consuming it it's how

it could be segregated from the other the other sales of other non alcoholic items. Okay. So plan for sale so servers security storage time frame hours of sale wristband management of sales. And then details of the benefits of the why. Yeah I'm just looking at the other questions that I had up there that weren't answered. Assurance from the village if they would have a craft beer liquor license. One two three year five year plan for facility improvements. So uh probably going I'm just going back to the questions that were in that were in the letter. I don't think a one three five year plan for facility improvement was included. Well I think that's the phase one two three of it. Oh that's the okay. Yeah I think that's good. But I'm excited to get more.

So presentation for the workshop in April which is the first first No problem. No problem at all. No problem. And then possible action then to be brought back on April board meeting. Yeah so you need a motion right to to table You don't have to have anything. Oh you don't have to discuss it. Okay. I don't want to get too Yeah that'd be great. Play a little volleyball in the gym while you're there with those kids. Is there a point person that's going to Um I mean I can volunteer but it sounds like we have What's that? point person to communicate >> want that to be Tiffany? Do you want to Why don't it be you Kelly? That'd be that'd be good. Okay and then Right I'll reach out to the village please do. Okay.

That's pretty good. >> [laughter] >> Oh man that's incredibly hard being Mike silent for that long. >> [laughter] >> Really wanted to make a motion. >> [laughter] >> All right next on the agenda is um consideration to approve the new superintendent contract as presented in board docs. So we're looking for a motion to approve. I'll make a motion to approve. I'll second. >> [laughter] >> All right. All those in favor? Aye. Anybody opposed? Seven zero. Welcome. All right um next is second reading and possible approval of new policy special update. >> [laughter] >> Any questions on this? >> [laughter] >> I just I guess I commented a few of them like all those changes in policies I just wanted to make sure they are new to us so we should make sure we get the

appropriate people. Once they're approved yes. They're approved. >> Any questions or comments feedback? All right, be looking for a motion to approve. I'll make a motion to approve. I'll second. All those in favor? Aye. Anybody opposed? 7-0. All right. Administrator reports. Second first First reading of the Neola policy. I want to skip over them. I stopped. So, just uh for clarification, the technical change technical corrections Amber and I took care of. Um met with Tim from Neola and went through the special updates which weren't that many and then the volume 35 number one and went through all those and they became live as soon as we got done. So, you've had a chance to look at them for the last couple weeks. I have not received any questions about them which is fine. Really fine.

It's It's really fine that I haven't. But um we will um bring it back those we will bring back for the second reading in April. And if we can get through them and have a second reading in April, you are caught up. Oh, finally. And Kelly's green cake. I have a green cake. >> [laughter] >> Caught up Kate. Caught up Kate. Flavors caught up Kate. All right. >> [laughter] >> 35 The Betty caught up cakes. Don't don't Careful with your headphones. All right, now we're on to the administrator reports. Danny. Uh so, I spoke to you last month about a proposal at the state level to use the state's $400 to fund special education at the levels that was promised in the state budget. Um this time there's been no deal from the legislature. Uh

we are set to receive our fifth payment from the state next week. And DPI has calculated the amount at 35%. Um it was promised at 42%. Uh so, this DPI typically estimates conservatively so they don't have to worry about overpaying us. Um and then they make us whole in June. So, there's still some time to uh potentially make a deal, but um it it remains to be seen where we're at. Um the other thing I have is um there is a lawsuit that has been filed in Eau Claire County um against the state legislature um asking the court to hold the legislature responsible for fulfilling constitutional obligations to adequately fund Wisconsin public schools. It'll likely be a very long-term topic in the news and in public circles, but wanted you to be aware uh that

this is happening. At this point, the lawsuit doesn't It doesn't define like what would a better funding system be. Um basically it's it's what they want the courts to say this is unconstitutional and force the um legislature to do something different. So, like I said, long-term, but wanted you to be aware of it. And that's all I have. We'll go right down. So, Corey, you can go next. Um last week Matt and I had the opportunity to go to Brainstorm conference in Wisconsin Dells. And we were able to conference with a lot of quite a lot of good collaboration with good districts in the Midwest region. Some of the immediate takeaway there were able to kind of build some customized AIs for some processes that we use regularly that are going to help us a

lot. So, things related to policy, things related to uh our help desk and all of our documentation is getting a lot faster for us to be able to take the things that we're able to use and catalog. Um we also transitioned the elementary school paging system last week over to what's called Revolution. Now, our paging systems, bells, uh emergency notification and everything are under one system across the entire school district. It simplifies things considerably. It will also help us in the future when when it comes to standardizing our processes for emergency notification or being in situations we don't want. Um and then lastly, the Whitestown Community School District promotional video is officially complete and is available in two different locations. Uh so, that you can find that just by going to our website right in

the front there. It seems like it's the same video, but it's not. So, there's a little volume button. So, push the volume button and listen to it. If you don't want to listen to it there, you can head over to the board's uh YouTube page and it is on that right away. So, you can go to the Board of Education and click follow us. You'll be able to see it from there. And I want to thank everybody that was a part of that process, anybody who volunteered to be in it. I think it went really well. Um and then also thanks to Katie Bates for kind of just being thrown into it in the middle of it and really helping us organize who is getting interviewed at what times and just started making sure everything

was the same. So, um I think it looks really good. I agree. So, >> It does look Nice job for all that were involved in for all the work that went into it. So, You're welcome. >> [laughter] >> You got to nail the budget. Thank you. Um so, on February 20th, uh we had our in-service that started. Uh it was a huge success. Teachers participated in a variety of different activities. Started with some performances from our band and choir solo ensemble participants. We had time to work on our year-long resource audits. They heard from Ted Neitzke for the second time on how to be a Buffalo leader. Uh we also had a lunch provided by the Navels which was great. I think I'm having a fast one for sleeping on the bus, but it was

great. Um and then we spent the afternoon with our AI panel experts that answered questions that our staff submitted. And that was followed by some time for our teachers just to basically explore AI tools. Just start dabbling. There was no real expectation. Just try try one and see what you think. Um and then this all led uh is going to lead into our next in-service which is March 27th which is also going to have an AI focus. So, it was a great day of learning for everybody. Um we did have some really good feedback. So, again, uh Corey was kind of my partner in crime on that one. So, thank you, Corey. Uh our ELA selection committee has met yet again. And I'm going to say narrowed down. I don't think we narrowed it down,

but we are having six vendors which seems like a lot still. So, six vendors are going to be virtually presenting to us on Monday their different products and kind of try to sell us on why we should move towards their resource. We um also started looking at which we weren't originally looking at, but looking at a couple of high school resources for our our high school teachers. There's some interest up there and there's some resources that go with 6-12. So, we're going to have two different um vendors also come in for just the high school. Uh at the end of all of this, we are hoping that by April um board meeting, we have um a proposal for you on which >> [clears throat] >> resource we're going to pilot for the 26-27 school year.

And then lastly, uh we are heading right into assessment season. So, the forward testing will start next week for our third through eighth graders sometime within that window. They'll all be taking it. Um and then 10th graders also have to take it. We just take the science which is part of it. ACT for our juniors is next week Wednesday and then pre-ACT for our ninth and 10th graders is April 8th. So, um this is really good opportunity for our students to showcase all of their um their learning and their hard work. So, I'm done. I will say in-service did go well. I was able to pop in and out a couple times. Um so, enjoyed the bits and pieces I was able to see. So, um hope everyone else got as much as I could

out of it. It we really did have I mean, we asked for feedback at the end and the feedback was I would rank it one of the best professional developments we've had. So, it it it was really well received. And they're really excited for what's going to come next Friday as we add on to that and literally give them now like training on some of the additional tools. So, Awesome. Thank you. Do you Do you want to put the song up that we created? >> Uh yeah. I was quite impressed. >> [laughter] >> I'll have it for the end. Okay. Thank you. Yeah, you got it. All right, I will go. Um at the elementary, there's always a lot of things happening. This snow piles were pretty interesting today for our kiddos. Um the courtyard

was not very accessible at all. So, um just a fun day over here for us, but on February 18th, we had the author David A. Kelly join us. Um he is also a travel writer and a technology analyst. He visited our third and fourth grade classrooms. And um Mr. Kelly is the author of the Ballpark Mysteries and the MVP series. And two of his um books are set at American Family Field. Um so, our students were able to get those books and he also autographed a volume for each of our students. And we have some additional copies that are in our vending machine for students who really want to choose those for their birthday books. Um so, that was a really fun day for our students. On um March 23rd we will hopefully be meeting

the dead horse here with summer school talk but it is March 23rd and the registration is opening for families who have completed participation portion of it and as we mentioned it is going to be the scheduling is called arena scheduling and that's where parents would just go in and just kind of when you're going to get Luke Combs tickets and it starts at 8:00 in the morning and you're waiting on your phone and you go and then you first come first serve kind of you know, did I get the class I wanted or not? And then you'll be able to see the last schedule and stuff like that as well. So a big moment for us is trying to convert from the paper pencil and the Google Forms to the actual Skyward that parents can

access on the phone. So thank you. You kind of let us a little bit of your window into your soul, Luke Combs. Of all the people you could have picked, you picked Luke Combs. I think that tells us something. >> [laughter] >> Uh over at the high school as you know the senior play opens tonight and runs tomorrow and Friday. Especially with the weather Mrs. Letteney and Mr. Baker and Mrs. McClass have done an incredible job on getting ready for the show. There's a lot of nervous energy in the building right now. I think you can feel it. It is going to be really fun and entertaining. It really is an impressive tradition. It's a cool thing that brings together the entire graduating class. Can't wait to see it and would encourage everyone to go.

Uh as Sarah said our testing season is upon us like a blizzard. >> [laughter] >> Um ACT will be March 25th. Our juniors will report all juniors will report that day and we'll continue to [laughter] update high school families so they're all prepared for that. Staff members have offered before break and now after break um some ACT prep sessions in the different subject areas to help juniors prepare for them. They've been pretty well attended. So we look forward to a great day of testing next week. News from the high school. Uh Germania winter sports wrapped up. Both our boys and girls uh won their first round games. Our girls won a they beat Two Rivers at home while our boys had the uh lucky seed that we had to travel to Eagle River to play

Northland Pines and we upset them. Uh it was pretty cool uh playoff victory I I think I'll always remember cuz it's the first time ever that the whole student section was allowed into the post game speech because we only had two >> [laughter] >> two JV players that brought the whole student section with us. So it was kind of cool. We did recognize that that the student section was with us. Uh but that was really cool. Uh unfortunately both boys and girls basketball teams lost to their next games. Ryan Ladwig and his Bay Area Storm teammates won a boys hockey regional title. That was awesome. Before they lost a close match in the sectional semi-final. Great season for Ryan and again the Bay Area Storm it's a co-name kind of the co-op. We have a

co-op with Ashwaubenon, Bay Port, Pulaski and Seymour. We had two wrestlers advance to the WIAA state wrestling individual tournament. Easton Felton all right earned a fourth place finish in the division 2 120 lb weight class which is pretty impressive considering he couldn't use one of his thumbs all right and he was dealing with turf toe pretty bad. All right so just to get it down there in place was pretty awesome. Uh Chesney Bartosic made it to state in the 126 lb weight class and she took home a silver medal. All right second place finish which was very impressive. The girl that she wrestled is ranked fifth in the country. All right and has really never been taken to the second Chesney took her there so very awesome for Ches. In fact her own graduated and

in Ches will have another year coming back. Uh couple of news here. Our boys basketball Michael Vassal, Daniel Button, Truman Marshalsher and Jacob Van Dyke along with girls basketball players Ella Verbeten, Natalie McDonald and Ashley Lynn Cavanaugh were named to the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Academic All-State team. Pretty cool. Our all of our three robotics teams qualified and participated in the state competition in Green Bay two weekends ago. It was the first weekend of spring break. It was a great accomplishment for our school getting all three teams in there. Uh unfortunately none of the teams ended up qualifying and moving on to nationals and worlds. All right but we did get a top 10 finish. Our our team 1790C did the best and they took 10th. Uh 1790B took 25th and 1790A took 47th. So

pretty cool state competition. Uh all conference teams were announced. For boys basketball Truman Marshalsher earned honorable mention while Daniel Button was selected to the all defensive team. In girls basketball Ella Verbeten earned first team all conference and she had a spot on the all defensive team. She was named the defensive player of the year which is pretty cool. Uh Maddie DeCleene also earned honorable mention for girls basketball. In girls wrestling Chesney Bartosic was unanimous first team and Evelyn Barker received second team. For the boys Easton Felton was unanimous first team and Dawson Smith was a first teamer. And then freshman Tyler Roddan earned honorable mention as well too. Uh and we do have spring sports going on if you can believe it. So >> [laughter] >> So we'll see them we got to you know

we're hosting baseball and softball two weeks away. >> [laughter] >> Thank you all. Thank you. The only one missing was Clark so she's not here. Yeah. So you can read it at hers. And then okay. All right. Next on the agenda is Board of Education meeting upon motion duly made and carried to meet in closed session under one or more of the exemptions provided in section 19.851 Wisconsin statutes for the following purposes pursuant to Wisconsin statute 19.851C considering employment, promotion, compensation and performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility specifically district administration contracts. Looking for a motion. >> a motion to go into closed session. I'll second. All those in favor? I. I. I. I. Anybody opposed? 6:57 7-0. Perfect. All right.
