Well, I'm sure you all know who I am at this point, but I'm Carson Anderson and I'm here as the student council president. Here's what the Frederick students did so far in May. As seniors get ready to graduate and the remainder of the student body gets ready for finals and end of the year projects, I am happy to announce the group of students taking over student council next year. Here are the winners. From ninth grade, Jaylen Peterson and Amy Eglund. From 10th grade, Genevie and Elena Peterson. From 11th grade, Estelle Chanel, Madison Fernet, Cayenne Gingris, and Amelia Dagstead. And the 12th grade officers are President Elijah Rodomsky and Vice President Taylor Hansford. Eighth grade elections, as well as the remaining two student council officer positions, are still in the works, will be decided next week.

>> Thank you. Congratulations. And thank you for your time. >> Yes. >> All right. Now, we have a Matt Counts presentation. All right. Good evening. I don't know, most of you probably know me. I'm Kathy Micheller and I've been a middle school math teacher here for eight, nine, eightish years. And for the past four years, I've been the coach and adviser of our math counts team and math counts club. And we thought we'd come and share a little bit with what we do. So, um, limited on time tonight, I know. So, I'll keep mine really short so my students can talk about what they want to tell you about Math Counts. Um, Math Counts is a national organization that provides math programs for grades six through 8. They're currently working on expanding into elementary a

little bit, though. And the programs are meant to build confidence and improve attitudes about math and problem solving. Every year, over a 100,000 students nationwide participate in math house. So, at Frederick, I started about four years ago with students that I kind of had to convince to give it a try. Right, Aaron? Yeah, we kind of convinced them. Um, until this year, I had 42 students competing to get the 14 slots on the competition team. So, we have the club, which all 42 are in, and then 14 are allowed to go to the competitions. Um, next year our team and our club are going to look very different because of the schedule changes, but I and the students, we are going to pivot and persevere and we're going to make it work. So, um, if

you have any questions about math counts or math club, math team at any time after tonight, feel free to get in contact because I'm very happy to talk about it. But I will let you hear from Tegan first of all. Why don't you step over this way, Tegan? >> Hello everyone. I'm Tegan Lberg and this year I competed on the M team and today I would like to talk to you guys about the success that we have had this school year. Um at our first competition, Xanderhal team placed sixth in the countdown round, eliminating four other competitors, some of which later went on to state. Zack Lungquist, on the other hand, was ranked first of all seventh grade mathletes. In our second meet at Oak at Oaklair's Dong, he placed 20 out of all 168

m athletes, earning him a spot in the Wisconsin State competition. In April, to close out a record-breaking season, the team collaborated on a project to achieve the national gold level rank, a feat accomplished by only a small percentage of math teams per year. And that is my speech on the success. However, we had a student, Jaylen Peterson, who was supposed to be here tonight, but she couldn't make it. So, I am going to be reading her speech. Hello all. As you know, we have a group of very talented mathematicians. I may not be the one who goes to the meets to compete, but being in this wonderful group means more than being on a math scholar. It's more about the people in it and the experiences we make along with the memories. Being on this

team has shown me that I can connect with people I never talk to on a daily basis. But I can also enjoy math and I can make an impact on the people around me. So thank you and thank you to Michel and thank you to my groupmates. They all made this truly memorable. But Michler, you have made an unforgettable experience. Thank you. So Jaylin was not on the competition team, but she was in the club. So that's the difference. All right. And Amy, you want to share your thoughts on math team this year? >> I'm Amy. Sadly, I'm an eighth grader, so I won't be able to compete next year, but I would say this has been the most memorable memorable year yet for me. In sixth grade, I >> in sixth grade, sadly, sixth

graders weren't allowed on the team, but I remember looking at the eighth grade team and the eighth grade and seventh grade. I was like, "Whoa, that's really cool. I would really like to do that." So, in seventh grade, I tried out, pushed my math, didn't make it. That's okay. I still have one more year. Look, I pushed myself even harder and I got on the team this year. the the meats scared me a little bit considering bigger schools, but I'd say our team did really well and like in Deon some of our teammates did make it to state which which was a first that ever happened within another thing to add uh I would never forget the memories that I have this year. We went to Action City after the competition. Made a couple memories

there. Uh I remember not to jump off from the ropes and try and grab a little bar. Anyway, this has been a very memorable year and I'm very disappointed that I couldn't do it again, but thank you. >> We really appreciate you guys coming. >> Yeah. Thank you for allowing us to come in and share with you. And again, if anybody has questions about how the team and the club works, you can get in contact. >> Thank you. It's just so much fun. speaking. >> All right. Um I don't think we have any persons with requesting an audience with the board tonight. So we'll move past that on to our consent agenda. Um there are some there were some minutes there to review. Kyle, do you want to say anything about invoices and receipts? >>

Uh you'll see two two two bills uh to Frederick Senior Center. One's for $182.40 and the other one's for $12. That's when we rent their center for community fund programs. >> And Earth Energy Systems uh check 29676 for $1,311. That's for the air handlers that had to be worked on. And on the revenue side, we might see a couple that are for summer school non-residents. We have summer school registration for Frederick kids first and then if there's any openings, we open up to kids within the area, but they have to pay out of district fee to join. And we had one staff member that got overpaid, so she paid us back on check 242520. So we got that squared. And Oh, if you just look at the energy uh bill, you'll see that our fuel

costs continue to go up. And with the price of diesel going over $5, that means our bus contract with Siren for the month of May, well, $1,000 added on to the bill. And really, Siren Bus Company doesn't make any more money. It just goes into the pump for their that's built in there because they can't take a loss when prices go up. Yes, that's the budget basically. >> Um, contracts and hiring. Do you want to talk through what we have there? >> Yes, for hiring we have for people service director Corey Schmidt. He was a teacher here about a dozen years ago and he's at Sinc Falls now and so he has his license so he's coming on board. We have all the summer school contracts which this year anyone who's teaching summer school is

teaching all three weeks continuous. There's not sometimes we have people work two or something. We said if you're going to work it work the whole whole item. >> Uh Kayla Humphre is for middle or elementary fourth or fifth grade. Not 100% sure where they'll end up. Probably fifth right for sure. >> Okay. and she was is finishing up her student teaching at Solen Springs right now and she's a returning student. So, she's working on her masters while she's doing teaching. Uh, for girls basketball head coach, Chad Elely. And then Nick Scott was the assistant coach and he wanted to see how things panned out with the head coach and he's agreed to come back their assistant coach. And then the resignations you can share. Uh, Joanna Stever is resigning as the girls basketball coach and

library media specialist. We have library position posted currently. Uh Dana Pollson's resigning as the choir teacher. She ended up with the position as a pastor in luck. We did do one interview today and we're hoping to do some more in the near future. Tamara Johnson is resigning as a middle school math teacher and cross country coach for middle school and the middle school track. Uh Brie Jensen is resigned as assistant volleyball coach and as a par professional. And then Cassie McKenzie is resigning as school volleyball coach children moving out of that phase of life. >> We have some donations to recognize again. Um Frederick Booster Club donated $300 toward our new football field sign. Luck Fire Department donated $400 toward the new football field sign. The Frederick Senior Citizens donated $161 toward the overdue launch

accounts. progress on those. Um, and Ben's Harvard gave us the hooks we need for the softball dugout. So, um, thank you once again for all of the wonderful donations that we continue to get um, from the community. Any questions for Kyle from any of the things we went through on the consent agenda? If not, I get a motion to approve. I'll make a motion to approve. All in favor? Any opposed? All right, we're on to our administrative reports. >> All right. Who wants to start? Anybody? >> I can start. We uh I've been doing some of the curriculum director roles as well. But we um recently secured Next Path, which those of you who've been around for a little while knew that we had used Edge Climber for like a data warehouse. Um Next Path

is an offshoot of Edge Climber, the original developers of Educ um got overwhelmed and said, "This is too big. It's owned by Renaissance Pearson. It's huge." Right? And they were like, "No, we're going to do our own thing." and they're housed out of Wisconsin and catered it and customized it to uh like Act 20 and things that are specialized from Wisconsin. So, it's an even better product for a way cheaper price and I was really thrilled. But um that will come in really key um as Jada moves on and and we're trying to secure the roles she's been playing along with Kelly Fisher not being in the mix anymore. So, um, we've got into that. It's getting all set up on the back end. So, NextPath will communicate with Infinite Campus and all of our

testing platform. So pull data directly from um Ames web I ready even ACT stuff access testing for EL like it'll be wonderful because then we can have a student profile all the data in one place and all these different entities especially with the state ask for the same information and they all have a plan and a report >> and it'll be very efficient for us to have it just at a click of a button. So that is all getting set up now. Um, we got early access May 1st, so there's a lot of background stuff going on. So, just if you start hearing a little bit about Next Path, that's that's going to be a big behind thescenes player for for the leadership team. Um, I think we've got curriculum quotes all short up for

the 26 27th school year. um getting that all in that spreadsheet for Libby so that when July 1 comes then she can um get invoices and and get all that taken care of and we can keep that updated so we kind of have an idea of how to budget each year. Wouldn't that be something, right? Um so I think we've we've come a long way on trying to figure out that cycle. So that's all that's all seems to be in order. So now we just wait till July 1st. Um, our third through fifth grade team has been working really hard to prepare for that staffing schedule and the changes in the shifting. Right. So, right, we currently have a first and second grade that are one section. Next year it'll be second and third grade.

So, that brings that one section into the other wing, creates some staff changes. Um, so they've been working really hard and and really owned it, but they've had a lot of time to think about it. You know, they know that it's coming. So there's been a lot of leg work there um to improve the efficiencies with that scheduling so that we can really focus in on what's best for kids. Not always what's convenient for adults, right? But what's going to be best for the kids. >> So a lot of planning for next year happening. >> Excellent. >> Kindergarten circus is tomorrow night. >> Track and field day was today. So I feel like the next two weeks are going to be events events events. But >> it's not field got that much warmer from the

res, >> but certainly Yeah, certainly better. >> It was better. >> Yeah. >> Wasn't there supposed to be rain last time, too? >> It was windy. The morning the morning group was going to have like 35 degrees. So, >> yeah. >> So, we That was Well, Nikki told me that went really well. So, >> I was covering all recesses at the I think I had three hours of recess today. I was covering all the different while they were shifting up here. >> So, that was okay. That was a good way to come back. >> Yeah. >> Excellent. Any questions for Aaron? >> Um, the high school middle school testing has been going on all month. Students that are in advanced placement courses various tests complete um stuff come in help testing students uh network um

a unique thing where they they come in for the day and that's all they have to do. It's like a 4 hour block. Um we had the spring music concert went very well was on May 4th. bands open with a Star Wars song to celebrate May the 4th with a special guest triangle performance by me. Um that was fun that had the opportunity to practice with them um a few times during the the month and uh yeah it was fun. And then one of them told me that uh another principal in the area played at their spring concert, but he like is actually very used to the concert very impressively. So I was like, well, I don't know if we're getting there, but we'll start with the triangle opening. And so it was a lot

of fun. But they they sound really good. They get a bunch of awards out and the state qualifiers also showcase as well. And we've got some really talented kids in the building who never I know it's just it comes out. It's pretty cool. Um we had get back day and walk field trips going on uh as well. Community get back day went I think very well. Uh softball dugouts clean up parking signs. It says clean buckthorn. We cleared buckthorn. I don't think anyone clean. Sorry. And brush on the trails. Clean up the cemetery. Made signs arrows for trail marking and they wrapped up cookout and group games. So overall I think that went pretty well. Um and uh Carson mentioned the new ST code offices were announced. Memorial Day, we've got a musical uh event

going on at the cemetery. Uh the taps and a couple of musical performances. Um we got our preac scores that are going to go out with report cards. Um which is exciting to see. So we've already started dig into that data. I really enjoy that. Um so we're we're going to some of our We just have to get some starting points for kids next year. Group them up and get them more hopefully what they need um individually. Conference champs in golf for the boys yesterday. Super exciting. Uh girls track also got conference champs was really really awesome to see. Um any questions for you? busy week, busy month, busy episode. >> Excellent. All right, you can read Jada's report. She's not here tonight, but you can see her updates there. >> Can I add something

to J? >> Um that last bullet point, I just want to kind of give a shout out to Kelly Fischer. She's also creating documents that are onboarding notes, right? How to onboard all of our curriculums. >> And so I just think anytime we have a chance to shout out to Kelly Fischer. She does countless amounts of work behind the scenes that nobody sees. >> Um, and she's getting that all prepared for us for when we have to onboard new staff with new curriculum. >> Super helpful. >> That's a great show. Thank you. >> Uh, the state of Wisconsin was sitting on a huge surplus and last Monday had a bipartisan plan about 30 50 million go towards schools and such. And then Wednesday for eight hours, the Senate argued about it and they voted it

down 1518. So the surplus stays in Madison and we don't know what's going to happen. They may get back together. They may not. It was 158. No. And I thought I thought it was a good plan and us more special ed funding and >> not happening. So, it's under right now. As far as our budgets, all of our folks got their budgets into the department heads. And now this week, Liby and I have to meet with department heads to go over their budgets. And we have the audit scheduled for the week of July 20th. And then I had a request by a college student to get a summer membership for the fitness center. So, we said 40 bucks covers it. That way we don't bring the fall back, we're okay. And that's good. And Carl

and I met with Market and Johnson and architects on the 29th and um waiting for them to put together some numbers on the track and football options out there. When they do that, then we'll have the facilities committee get together when they can go over those numbers with us as a whole group. And then Wednesday, Monday night, I got an email along with Carrie from Siren School District was also sent to Webster School District about requesting to have a joint meeting of the boards to see if there's ways we can share services and students and staff and stuff. So, I'd like some dates in June and July that might work to meet with them. It's good to hear about and see what they're what they're thinking and any kind of sharing anyone can do is

always a good thing. So, >> are they thinking of it being boards or just >> I think that's the way I read that email and I responded but I didn't get a response back so I don't know it might be impossible to get >> everybody right right but >> full communities >> yeah we'd have to post it all we have to post everyone would be responsible posting their own >> whether it's you know you can meet wherever you want kind of like we go to schoolboard convention we say hey we're going to have a quorum going down there we do a posting that there's a meeting over there and this what we're discussing. Yeah, that's good transparency. But right now, we're sharing sharing our IT person with them and we got two shared staff with

Lux. So, >> sharing is okay. >> So, if you all three of us >> depends if Webster would accept the invitation, right? Siren >> maybe our board Siren and Webster is what Siren's looking for. >> Okay. >> Yeah. So, >> but not too >> Siren reached out to Webster and Frederick. Okay, I'm doing it now. >> Yeah, >> because I didn't know if it's >> probably too far for it now. >> Yeah. >> And I'm, you know, they're trying to figure out what they need and what their options are and then wanting to be in conversation and, you know, there might be things that they're interested in doing that we can't >> assist with. we have to have conversation and timelines are also a challenge some because some of the things that you might want

to you know just like when we think about our sports co-ops those decisions are made two years before anything goes into effect so that I think you know having some conversation about even if even if there's a thought on the table a creative idea it doesn't mean it's something that can happen by the fall so having that conversation I think is important to bring some DPI's got rules, right? So, you know, there's rules we got to follow. So, figuring that stuff out and we'll see what happens. >> Well, and one of the topics that was in the email was full grade sharing. So, I text the state superintendent yesterday and said, "Hey, who in the department I got to talk to learn more about it?" I don't know a lot about it, but I know

some. So, >> heard more information. >> Absolutely. Okay. Any questions for Kyle? All right. So, on to board member reports and governance. We don't have any committee meetings to report on this time. Um, we do have there is an opportunity a summer learning symposium that happens. It's always in early July. It's always in Stevens Point. Did you cover that last year? Um, so just, you know, it's open opportunity for board members. If that's a thing you're interested in, let Jess know. She'll help with registration and all of that. Um, and then we also have our reorganization of board members happens here in our main meeting. So, there's a few different ways to do this. We can we can do it by office. We can someone can make a motion to keep everything as it is

right now. We don't want changes with people maintaining the the offices they hold now. Open to thoughts on what people are interested in. If you are currently holding a position that you want nothing more to do with and you really want out of it, speak up. Um, thoughts just the way I would like to continue the way we are currently set up. >> I can't do a Keep it magical. >> Keep it magical. All right. And I would I I'm fine with that as well. I think we've been functioning well and I like this the stableness of that. Um so if everyone is okay with that. I just would need a motion to um I look at my >> I am looking at this and I have multiple ways to go about this here as

well. Um so we so in the reorganization of the board members it essentially means that right now nobody's holding any of the positions and do we need to vote on someone to run this process of fulfilling the um >> yeahs usually you have the president down so it's clean there right >> you can put the president in charge if you want but it's So I would first need a motion for me to run the process. Okay. >> In April to approve carry >> to run. >> All in favor? >> Okay. Um and then approving the offices as follows. We're just keeping things as they are >> which we can do. >> So that would be um me staying in the role of president. Our vice president is Chris. Our treasurer is Renee. Right. Cler is

Emily. >> Oh, I'm sorry. You're doing >> all right. Can I get a motion to approve those um board offices? I will make a motion to approve those board offices as you stated them. >> Second. >> All in favor? >> Any opposed? All right, we're staying as we are. Um then the next is committee assignments. You can see in your notes what our current assignments are. Um again, this is an opportunity for changes. If you are currently assigned to something you don't want, this is a situation where instead of voting on it, the president appoints people. I'm not interested in appointing people to things they don't want to do. So, if somebody wants a change, I I absolutely invite you to speak up. Um, if there's a committee that you're not on that you want

to be a part of, speak out. Does anyone have concern? Me too. >> You guys have had I was the load this last year with all the policy work and then some of the stuff that you've been doing for the education planning committee. >> policy. We haven't had one lately from that. >> It's coming soon. And then the facility committee is probably have some work >> kicking up here with the >> we're going to meet with the quotes >> the architect and the >> general contractor >> if everyone is okay with their current assignments we'll keep it as is again stability is great I like that I feel like people are doing a great job in their tasks and I like that we continue to support our committee structure let's let the committees do their

work report to the whole board and that's going to be the more important thing. All right. All right. So, I think we just note that those are the appointments >> because there's no motion. >> Yes. >> All right. Um, next bit of board business to take care of is needing a um delegate to attend our the CISA 11 annual meeting which is on June 3rd. Rene attended for us last year. I don't want to steal it if somebody really wants it, but I it was >> it's an easy meeting. Yeah, >> it's a pleasant Yeah, it's not. >> So, I mean, if somebody like >> I'll make a motion for Renee to be our C1 delegate. All in favor? Any opposed? All right. Um, then we have our WASBY delegate at the state convention. You

guys all know that I love that one. If someone wants to arm wrestle me for it, I will I will give it up if somebody's really dying to do it. >> You love it again. >> I love going to that meeting. I I just can't. It's so nerdy. It's so much fun. >> I can't. >> I love that you love it so much. I I do too. >> You love it. >> I can't. >> It's awesome. >> It's so nerdy and wonderful. I It's just such a fun and interesting process and the conversation is endlessly fascinating to listen to people from districts that are so different from ours and how they look at the world and how they're processing different problems is just it's fascinating to me. >> There's other boards where no one wants

it. >> I know. I It is. I know. It's a weird thing to like. >> No, it's fantastic. You do such a good job um giving us summaries of everything too which is helping us understand the process. >> Well, I don't know if you're asking for a motion. Be happy to make a motion. I'll make a motion >> or get a second. All in favor? I >> any opposed? All right. Um, next we're on to the um approval of the 26.7 board meeting calendar that is in your extras and Kyle helping put it on screen for us. >> Yeah, it's just been adjusted for my was the event in September and January while up. Yeah. >> Any questions or concerns with that schedule from the board? >> If I can get a motion to approve

that calendar. >> All in favor? >> Any oppos? All right. Um One second. On to our action items. There's a lot of items on here, but they a lot of them are sort of annual housekeeping type items, things we deal with every year. Um, so feel free ask questions if you have them. Um there are some materials in the extras that go along with these. The first is um approving the 2627 course description guide that's that we have. It's obviously exactly what it says it description of all the courses at all. >> Um it's really uh we have features right up courses that we are offer next year. We added in the graduation requirements and the uh >> yeah credits as well and yeah the some classes are offering maybe every other year that so

details like that are included and hopefully intuitive when Any questions? Can I get a motion to >> approve? All in favor? >> All right. All in favor? I opposed. Excellent. Approve. Thank you. Um, next we are on to um approval consideration and possible action regarding the 262.7 shared services contract with Siren for our technology director. Kyle, any updates? >> It's the same as when we started in December. Brandon Olsson's on board. Siren's on board. So, it's a 3% increase like all the positions around here. So, it's going well. For summertime, Brandon's gonna rather be on a three-day rotation. He's going to be at Siren for a chunk because he doesn't start a project and then switch buildings and we just said keep us all informed of what you're doing. So it's worked from December till

now. So we're continue on. >> All parties are happy. I will make a motion to approve. Second. All in favor? Any post? All right. Continue sharing. that um the next one is uh consideration and possible action regarding the 262.7 occupational and physical therapy contract with St. Regional Medical Center. Um any significant changes there? >> It's exactly the same. There's a little bit of cost. I can't 4% but it's the best deal we have yet. I get a motion to approve. All >> in favor? Any opposed? All right, we are approved. Next is the U renewal of the 2627 early childhood shared services contract with Unity. >> We've been using Unity for a while. We don't always have a student that goes down there, but when we do, we have one currently. Is that right down

there services? >> If we have one, I'm unaware. >> One just recently. Yeah. >> And it's new. >> Yeah. New in the last month and a half. >> We didn't have any most of the year. >> No, but they only charge us when we use it. So, it's got the easiest way we can >> offer it cheapest. I'll make a motion to approve. Can I get a second? All in favor? I All right. Next is consideration and possible action regarding the 2627 meal prices. Um the proposal is a 10% increase on meal prices. >> 10ent. >> Um and we you know we've sort of talked in the asked about trying to continue to have increases, small ones, so we don't have many years without increases and then take a big jump. That' be much harder

on families um if you put yourself in that position. So, we're trying not to do that. >> Fun 50's been in the red and we'll continue there. The accounts are really clean now. Um are staff accounts. Yeah. So, we'll get those squared by the end of the year. So, it's really good. So, it's really Amy Herman's done a great job getting people caught up. The donations we got help people that were in the hole and now that they've gotten even, they've been able to keep up with it. So, and it's gotten a few more families to fill out the form to qualify for free. So, that's great. So, >> we vote on like the limit of $100. No one's old now. So then it's like, hey, this is >> even like >> it's huge. That's

a big thank you to Amy for all of the work. She really has worked very specifically on this all year long. >> Yeah. Summer. That was a big summer project. It wasn't fun. >> No. >> All right. Can I get a motion to approve that increase? Chris second. All in favor? Any opposed? >> All right. Next is our um consideration of possible action regarding the 26.7 North Lakes Dental Agreement. So, this is the dental program that comes to school. It's a voluntary program. These are not forced into using those services, but it's a good availability. want to take >> they set up the office here and where do they >> conference room? >> Yeah. >> How do they have the water? >> They have >> they come to Northwest and they >> they see a

lot of >> I don't know what kind of rotation they're on like >> I don't know how many times they're here this year but >> they were here twice. in your building. Yeah. And they were here at least twice. Yeah. So >> it's like insurance, right? >> It's a checkup and then they write a referral if they think you need to see a dentist for further work like cavities. >> Okay. >> Right. So they do a clean >> and then they'll write a note to parents if they think that they need further work. >> And you don't have kids screaming. >> Nope. They come in, they think it's great. >> Yeah.
