001together fries again [Music] appointment promotion compensation evaluation or exercises responsibility under Wisconsin statutes 19485 Grant one parent received to consider compensation evaluations of support staff and certified staff Staffing for 2020-324 the renewal or non-renewable of teacher contracts and consideration of preliminary notice of value rule laid off and staff discipline we begin with a presentation tonight on technology educational Mr Price foreign lab so the goal was to provide several opportunities for grades one through five to experience the Fab Lab by creating and making small projects put a list of different projects up there that we did make this year so we made cookie cutters holiday ornaments Hardware Day stickers wax museum signs rulers bookmarks and more to come so we got a couple pictures here so down here these are some of the stickers that the
002fourth graders actually created so they came up with closing designs we printed them all out they actually go present to the other younger grades and they give each kid a sticker when they're done so that was pretty cool up here we've got a bunch of holiday ornaments so we made some Halloween stuff some Christmas stuff cookie cutters a bunch of red and black bookmarks down there all right let me get into eighth grade Tech so 8th grade Tech is required for all kids we introduced the students to several areas of TechNet through Hands-On projects so they learn all the wood shop machine safety so they use band saws scroll saw Sanders drill press things like that we saved the table saw and joiners and planters for high school over there a little bit I'll go
003through measurements I learned some computer design and art software they do some Hands-On problem solving we've got some pictures of them so over here they're making their co2 cars so that's a wood shop project I really love painting them so you can see this spent a lot of time painting with the cars uh the middle picture there we actually do the project on the CNC plasma table so they drew up a little metal signs cut them out cleaned it up I actually gave them a quick little five minute lesson with welding where I got to hold the torch and it kind of held their hand and tacked it together and on the far picture there we're doing like some paper roller coasters with marbles so problem solving with that intro to drafting so students introduced
004students to several areas of computer design and drafting so we do start out with hand drafting I know it's the computer world but you do learn a lot of good skills with and drafting it also helps them appreciate the computers a little bit more once we get there they learn a lot of blueprint reading so they're learning about Dimensions different line types scaling things up and down tolerances things like that the built pretty deep into AutoCAD for 2D drawings so I put a couple examples here this is a 2d drawing Bakery in it it's another one down there we do inventor for 3D modeling assemblies and paper documentation so up here is the pipe fitting exercise I gave them that's a full assembly so there's one two three four five six seven a few parts
005something to that to draw all those pieces they build them all in the program they can print out all the paperwork this is a little flashlight that they created this was actually multiple parts so LED bulbs a switch battery and then those we actually builds it so it's 3D printed them out and then I learned a little bit about soldering soldering a little more reviews and resistors together intro to Woods multiple High School classes these are office so intro Woods is a high school class basically introduced some Workshop Tools and procedures so they learn more about measurement they also learn a lot about hand tools so this project up here we actually started out as a hand tool project it all thought it was crazy but I had them use this Crosscut saw and it
006was a rip saw just to kind of get out there and do something it's more about like I said just getting them out there and and then we slowly brought in like our tools the miter saw the table saw a little air nailer and things like that so you just made a little home sign and then as a group we go through the process of creating that table there so with that they do full project plan sheet so they learn what it takes to plan a project to look at the blueprints they're sizing on all the rough sized boards that calculated material costs and all that stuff and then we just slowly build and build every week adding more steps to that project this was kind of a fun little project you just wanted something
007to do after he shot his big buck Here Mount thing if it was little antlers in there told me a picture I couldn't tell anyone with this so that's something um how to make almost anything classes so this is really like a high-tech class so like the drafting stuff that we saw a little bit ago pretty much use all of those drafting tools on the computer and then bring them to machines and the machines create different parts for us so down here we created little LED signs so we use a laser engraver to catching in all those things and cut some plastic out the wooden base is a CNC router project so they 3D model that whole base there's a bunch of cutouts inside of it put it on the router table that cuts all
008about Pockets it up and do some soldering on that project this project this was a little game they built so again we 3D modeled it so we drew up all the different pieces assembled it on the computer make sure it worked and then the laser cut it all out and assembled it with 3D printed something nice for it and then we spent a day playing their game and cheering each other on um what else so this class really teaches the entire process of Designing and Building Things so it really takes you from the start working through all that modeling and then basically a basic machine shop so to introduce students to machine shop tools equipment and machining processes so again they learn blueprint reading a measurement inspection so if any of you work in the
009Machine Shop field most of the tools and numbers and things we've talked about are very different than the workshop or other places so you're teaching kids about thousandths of an inch or tens of thousands of an inch and they're learning how to read tools to measure that accurately if you're using machines to build parts so this is one project we've created it's a Well collapsible trench shovel so they use the CNC plasma cutter to burn off the blade a couple handle parts and then the top two the shaft the brackets there they Mill those out on the milling machine and turn stuff down and lathe they've got threads on the lathe so they really learned how to do a lot of things with that oh and then we do we do a small project on
010the CNC milling machine too so the end of this class we spend a couple weeks and I'm going to talk about tool paths and CNC machines that I have CNC milling and G-Code class so it's just to introduce students to CNC million and G-Code programming so they learn a lot about the machine itself it's a CNC operation and maintenance so part of the Haas machine is they have a whole curriculum just about their machine to go through a bunch of that the kids learn all about testing and coolant inspecting the machine daily maintenance on things like that and learn all about the control panel they actually get the CNC operator certificate through Haas when they're done with this class right now what that means for us is the school can apply for protect incentive Grant
011with those certifications so I do have indeed kids this year that got bad um again more blueprint reading G-Code and cam programming so there's two different ways to really program these machines the G-Code is literally writing out line by line saying you know turn spindle on clockwise at the speed that kind of thing and then there's cam programming which is using computer software where you actually load your tool or your parts in there and basically say take these lines mill on the inside of these lines and just speed rate at the speed didn't happen so they do both of that um that's about it okay metal fabrication and Welding introduce students to various types of welding and metal fabrication so they will do a little bit of stick welding make welding and tape welding again
012they learned a blueprint reading and layout work so for each one of these classes I know I bring up blueprint reading and layout and stuff but it's a little bit different for everything that we do so like blueprint reading for welding talks about the weld size the well shape the type of well whereas the other blueprint reading is more specific to making those parts they use manual fabrication and farming equipment so metal brakes rollers you have iron worker down there that we use for many different things and forming things again they use the CNC plasma cutter instead of using AutoCAD and sheet pan Which is the tool path software so this is a new project I did this year I know everybody's like get away from the birdhouses and the bird feeders but this is
013actually pretty high-tech bird feeder we drew up all those parts on AutoCAD got them all on a plasma cutter you got formal insert an order so you got to talk about order of operations of that because if you bend one side up and you can't access the other one to bend it and then they ribbon it together mostly keeps painted it we took we'll use the CNC laser plastic windows of our equipment we also worked with a welder from thermatronics so you can once a week it was going to sit with the kids in the booth and dedicated time to them kind of helped me to buy my time better by having that person in there as well then other offerings so there are several other courses at the moment that we offer that they
014have not drawn yet since I've been here so I think we're planning to do the building construction next year for sure but Advanced drafting was working and early Construction any courses that you would like to see added to the curriculum that we don't currently have um I think how to make almost anything class there was like a second level of that that was more independent for kids I think that would be good because right now we draw to that class is pretty high and there's nowhere to really go with it Beyond the second who are the carburetors on the building construction well right now it would just be a class okay we haven't just learn about building construction probably do little mock-ups and um there is so the CNC program we actually have someone from
015NWTC coming in each morning for three hours so any kid that's interested in the machine shop and G-Code class could transition right into that and get I believe it's like 16 credits it starts before simple starts as far as other areas that don't have direct sequence in but you bring in guest speakers and I get the welding instructor from the Texas so we're into a new area these kids are realize the opportunities for them as part of a struggle is they're so used to it and like it's every day to them so I don't think they understand how lucky they are yet or our property is being like at 18 by the 10 to 20 who might be your new F-150 or 180 or whatever is is not too far away from you to get
016they know it's not and I bring in like I got someone from Marine travel that they ship in your memory and authoritronics so bringing people in and the opportunities out there right now like they're willing to pay for training pay you while a long train right like that's the enormous damn on TC's board and we just had a head guide from requested they are so cute projects coming at the pipe but they're going to be in a lot of workers and the great line we said was after it moved here just like what happened to me he walked out one day and said oh my God I'm confidential I only can go this way to get Workers something there's so much I don't know how he ever gets the message to the kids but if
017there's you don't have to be a okay here's the fun feedback from my son okay at last time all the dialogue that they had so my son started quizzing them on all the tools and players and joiners and all this kind of stuff he had no idea that my dad had most of that in the shop you know smaller stuff so that was a whole week meeting for an adult for a long time there's other benefits of what you're teaching all right [Music] but I give two words that's what the older people says I was just trying to be nice okay thank you Mr Paul that was great um do we did we have any guests registered to speak Carl yes we have one gentleman who would like to speak on a non-uh agenda item
018okay um you can speak from there you can come up here to the podium whichever you would okay we wish and he'll just tell us who you are great my name is Greg force and I live on 1526 Bayshore Drive I'm also a business owner of a construction company I was really glad to see how what an amazing Tech system that you have here is that should be very very problem I've not been here to actually see it but it's an incredible program when you're done I would love to meet this gentleman for the kids coming out of the school Carpenters um but I'm not here today with with that kind of a message I was as a lieutenant a retired lieutenant colonel from an Air Force when I read the newspaper article that you
019said that you have brought social emotional learning to your school system I was I was actually floored um it's so if any of you have dug a little deeper into social emotional learning it's uh it doesn't have all of the Glorious things that was in that newspaper it has some pretty clandestine critical race Theory effect of things that brings to bear um I was actually quite disturbed by that because if you start looking into things like equity and you and you listen to things have been all outraged in uh dysphoria the gender dysphoria those type of things the the thing that starts to scare me is that you're teaching children some really really bad ideology and they can have wonderful classes about honesty or some of the other things that were in the paper but
020as a school board as a citizen of this area I'm just asking you to look a little deeper and maybe read outside of that book of what social emotional learning is comes from a very very dark place and I in my personal belief you would have brought something into the school system that's by no means good for the children at all um I know I just asked I know I don't have a lot of time this is a topic that can take hours but you know I'm just suggesting that you have brought something into the program that you may not understand how how dark it is just working in a recent Pioneer you read the recent point no I was in the polls you introduced it quite gloriously that you've brought social emotional learning if
021you if you look if you go you go to the web and you type in social emotional learning and you go a couple of pages in you start talking about things like Equity race all kinds of things that you really it's not useful for these children but we're I mean even the word Equity if you look at the word Equity well that that means equality right it doesn't it means the opposite it means forced outcomes and the forced outcomes is not what we want to be teaching for children we want to be teaching our children that they are evil to other people and they have people opportunity that they can you know be always one of the things that these classes teach you so it just was very disturbing to me to read that I
022just wanted to be on the record of saying you should look deeper at it I didn't anyone else does anyone else yeah oh he was so it was in the map okay I guess it comes from the Falls Times okay um okay so I just did it for all I know your book could be like this wonderful wonderful book but social emotional learning is the clandestine stepchild approval waste Theory just so you know you thank you future discussion I do have one question sir do you have a deeper background on that like if we wanted to have a deeper discussion to better educate ourselves would be definitely something that you'll be able to interested in helping that dialogue when there's a long one I'd be glad to help I don't know that I have a
023deeper understanding other than I read a lot yeah I think okay that that just a good data point I was just curious I do understand though 90 of the population of things Equity inequality for things I think there's a lot of buzzwords that people think are the right things right and there's and and and the psychology Equity is thrown around obviously you know I agree it's buzzwords that people throw around they have no idea what they're saying question yeah thanks for your service at another time um are there any items anyone wishes to get removed from the consent agenda you're not in that agenda is approved by consent with donations from The Tavern League for 500 for girls basketball priorities step-ins donated 250 for the pupil Services caring closet Renee and Greg Avenue donated ten
024thousand dollars for football baseball softball volleyball track girls and boys basketball for girls and boys across country sermatronics donated jackets for the girls soccer team and there was uh AED which is a civil lawyer donation um which unit will carried by the girls soccer team her own volleyball girls basketball it's importantly you know that the family wanted that house specifically for those Sports something Little Wave needs of the home school doesn't have one they got them do we have a formal activism that's assuming and thank you yeah I signed the letter L at the end I sent a letter and it states on there thank you and it also gives our tax ID number internet as a tax deduction administrators [Applause] the first one is that I want um just a state that our last
025Community program is tomorrow night it was an incredibly successful Community program season there were the new programming that we put out the old programming that people rely on was just a huge hit we had wait lists for almost every class this year so it was so much Outreach there was so many people calling in after the fact that I just afforded creating something really similar next year so I want to thank the community for their enthusiasm and their participation to what I'm coming to school and see what school has to offer and I also want to thank the incredible instructors who came in and shared their talents and their passions you know with our community and one of them was Brian Paul who did a welding Community program which was a huge hit that had
026like 20 people on the weekend so that is definitely a hot one for next year that I got to capitalize on the other Edition that I have I put a couple of summer programming proofs were in the final stages of Summer programming so I just wanted the opportunity going to look like this year and what's new is that we have one completely in Spanish we've never had that before so I'm really proud that we're offering it to all of our families to be able to take I mean everybody is invited right but now it's going to go back with our Spanish-speaking families and I'm really excited about that we are on track to have all of these printed through Innovative printing um next week when we're on spring break and then the following week when
027we come back all of these will be put in the backpacks for all of the elementary and middle school students so we are on track with that and uh and then the final thing that I have is a little bit about academics is that we are have this year Mr hiltz and I and Miss Debbie first our reading interventionists have been doing a lot of vetting of new Pre-K and two literacy Universal screeners we've had an old a system that's called Pals that we've used for the past nine years that system is going away so we've spent I would say what the last four or five months looking at different programs and we're meeting to make a decision very soon but it's just been a really worthwhile great uh experience because we have to make
028sure that we have the right Tools in place to be able to identify learning guests specifically in literacy so we can do early intervention so I would say we're going to wrap up that decision soon um well the the three of us mostly have as far as income is important yes every yes that's our screener that we use for 4K up until second grade and they give that two to three times a year and it's an excellent opportunity to look at literacy needs and to intervene early so we really look at that data multiple times throughout the year to make sure that every student is getting on vacation and in addition to that lastly we just adopted a new math Intervention Program called Bridges intervention and this spring I'm going to be working with Emily
029staslin to plan some professional development for all of our elementary school teachers so they all know how that intervention system works so they can implement it in their classrooms beginning next year so a good exciting work to make sure that students are growing and being enriched so it's been busy can come in they take a test and then determine what level you are and then they have a program to teach you or to get to be different English based upon whatever and it's free yeah it's wonderful [Music] last year at this time we had introduced or started taking part in tundra Tales it was a program put on by the Packers to encourage amongst our students last year with being the first year we had a 53 participation or completion of the program I put
030in my report that we had about 60 because I didn't have all the numbers in um I'm happy to say that we're up to 62.5 that's the kind of thing that we will continue each year I'm working on trying to increase that number just knowing how important reading is and making sure that you put the minutes in in terms of increasing your vocabulary and those kinds of things um I also wanted to draw attention to the 4K and 5K letters of intent that we sent out through a newsletter and response that we got back right now we're looking at about 30 kids who are interested in 4k we won't have a specific number until we actually register those uh it's just nice to know kind of a ballpark of where we're at with that we're
031at 26 uh five k students there's four new ones that we didn't have this year in 4k I know there's also one that is working on trying to do a tour with me and that would be another kindergartner so those numbers are looking up which is exciting and then the last thing in my report just wanted to make sure that I let everyone know that we're interested in doing the 4K staggered start again recall the last couple years maybe a few years now we bring in half of the kids on the first first day third day and then the other half of the kids on the second day and fourth day to give them a real good chance of really understanding how School operates and what the procedures are only having half of their classmates
032there so they can really focus on that then on the fifth day we bring everybody back in together the teachers have really commented about what a difference that has made compared to what they experienced in the past so I just want to bring that forward thank you Mr Schaefer uh can I just ask a question oh yeah sorry um the 4K 5K letter of intent um it looks optimistic with the numbers I would say there um I I imagine it was a non-binding survey absolutely that's not a non-dining survey yeah I had to read that two or three times you put that down nice job thank you you must have been eating lunch doesn't bring them in to die as Jerry says bring food that's right have anything been let's just say this demolition I
033had no idea what I was seeing and I asked by someone that was he told me that's where our bus drops and that's in that part of it that's pretty impressive like pants what's he did anything else in our district I understand I'm sorry and then I realized some of the Toy That's kids from it's really been Sturgeon Bay they go to school here and that's where the bus drops them off and the parents are picking them up and I never realized until you see all those cars that are well Jerry what a lot of people don't realize is 25 of our enrollment is open enrolled 25 25 of our enrollment is open enrolled congratulations Mr Schaefer um just a couple of items first of all I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge our
034Productions Cinderella with us last weekend that was pretty incredible um they were kind enough to put me into the to the musical I think I'm typecasted for the rest of my my time here so um as a giant but I'm serious note the kids were amazing um their work ethic all the adults behind the scenes the amount of energy uh passion commitment to everybody that's involved with this as somebody who's never been in the theatric venue in my high school days I guess it was just really a eye-opener about just a tremendous amount of time effort but everybody's all the adults and how they're um you know helping the students and our costumes were amazing um one of the best gospel designers around I think it was it was incredible um Justin was really awesome
035to be a part of it the band sounded amazing just a lot to be proud of a lot of compliments about that um something I'm really proud of I'm excited because we did it's something new last month we did the pride certificate so what we have is we have teachers acknowledging our students for doing following our pride model of the poster right so we want those words to have value and meaning and not just to be words so it's really cool so uh what and I know so you're gonna really love this because the Pioneer weight ticket and the Pioneer Pride certificate was designed by students so that made it really cool as well but so teachers are acknowledging students and what's well it's been really awesome to see not only the wide variety of
036students but so when a student is doing something amazing or following our pride model the teacher writes this elaborate well not too elaborate but writes up a couple of sentences about what they're acknowledging the students for sometimes it carries on to the back they give it to the student the student's responsible for bringing it to the office they meet either myself or whatever uh admin assistants that are there and then they give the ticket but then before they do that we ask them to read what was said about them and where the Priceless moments come in is after they read it and you say well how does that make you feel or what do you think about that and you see the the beaming smile on the face the pride the acknowledgment for um that
037you know what they're receiving as far as somebody acknowledging them for doing something pretty pretty incredible and noticing them and what they're doing isn't going unnoticed and then so then that Pioneer Wing ticket gets glued onto the Pioneer with the Pioneer Pride certificate and we had this assembly for the Middle School um one quote that I got about the middle school is after that the students were walking on air meaning that it was incredibly positive incredibly it was just an awesome environment for kids uh one student one a prize so everybody who was nominated gets put in for a couple of prizes one student won the prize she was so excited and the coolest thing I saw is the whole school was acknowledging her and celebrating her Joy with her and that's how you know
038I think cultures is spirited and created and then of course no good deed goes unpunished for the high school students the grand prize winner won a student VIP parking which is the closest parking spot possible to the door but then her vehicle got hit so we had her too close and it wasn't like it was like you know something really big but it happened to be Jolene littke I mean I know her father has done anything but um anyways so she won the stroke's VIP parking and their vehicle got hit yeah so um but also with the superintendo's party what's that maybe we should put the superintendent stuff yeah so um but anyways it was a real success even with the high school the high school students in particular uh if I could give a
039really huge shout out to them freshmen and sophomores are sitting on the gym floor for uh pretty substantial amount of time a substantial I want to say about an hour they might say it was longer but they were there they were incredibly respectful they were dialed in listening to the message there was a message with each assembly and it was centered around our pride model to once again just really making sure that those are no not just words they become a way of being around here and an expectation for how not just students but all of us you know conduct ourselves and make this the best of all possible I did see all the pictures that were posted and there was a really nice piece of kid there were kids that I would expect and
040then the reason they thought wow good for you because I wouldn't expect it yeah so it was good does anyone have questions they'd like to direct on the A.D or gifted and talented report and we'll hear from the superintendent uh you're back at your list of important policies I have technical changes this is grammatical and worth of small parts of the change of view of it and then it's been asked to have passed about our students and the college credits here and while they're here we have 46 seniors this year a 44 over receiving some sort of credit Beyond a school and they bring two or three credits 25 credits we have nine students who are receiving the three and then we have four students who are receiving 25 some are NWTC credits some are
041UW credits and sometimes the NWTC credits will transfer the UW systems only if I WTC dot but there are quite a few other schools that are having success with their kids getting credits while they're replaceable yeah 25 for the range and 44 out of 46 kids we're seeing this let's pick a numbers okay I'll I'll just mention this the there is a um there is a committee that's begun to um plan to celebrate and commemorate the schools what I'm written year anniversary which the first day of school was in September 11th or something 2019-24. um so the first step is looking for a slogan and a logo and there's a contest maybe you've seen it somewhere there's a contest running we'll be collecting those and that committee will be early April April 5th maybe to
042determine the slogan and then it'll go to getting poor former graduate who has graphic training to create some logos for that committee to look at um and uh it's really an important informal stage right now just trying to determine what the major things are that this school district should do to commemorate so after that meeting next month I'll bring this mother some more information back but it's a pretty good committee there's some community members there's some teachers there are a diverse committee I'll say and then other committee reports property buildings and grounds yeah we met we talked we talked about a few minor things that we're still working on with hiring thing and we spent time on his plan some big ticket items obviously our air handlers and chillers were Jim vampire kitchen um so
043it's a matter of you know just identifying those needs over a 10-year period and trying to you know work in the budget and that sort of thing we're going to be a we re-establishing the old trail system I volunteered to help like that established that so that was something so yeah design going process questions in our budgets every year during my previous life was tough point it was detect point at that point is that something she is well with the old 1924 building I understand that they were we were oh so that was so that though it was a 64 building yeah at the hospital they're constantly talking about but does that I don't know that process but I assumed would you get someone to inspect it to see if it's needed so we haven't
044probably brought an inspector in a while because we think we're good just hear me do this wall and make sure the best maybe for the next meeting is [Music] discuss bringing an expert in to do that look for the cracks there was something that we always thought that they are syllabus it's going to save us playing along unless something Dan could yeah I'll have to end in the next comedian it's something else I guess I forgot to mention was the electronic sign from school [Music] FFA alumni group that initially funded the old electronic science you know you've got Dylan Robert Memorial plaque there and somehow incorporating that into the design as well so we don't lose track of that and we have permission to do that received permission from Door County Planning that we are
045going to stay on that yeah that was a surprise result [Music] for the next newspaper which will come out it was always good as a spotlight there is um well we always have a Pioneers Spotlight someone from the community someone from the school that's contributed and said great and um Mr T is this community Spotlight this time being an alumni coming up through the ranks and the um I think also it will be a good education for the community on how much technology is needed School keep the students running and educated so and it will it will do a commemorative 100-year anniversary edition sometime next summer and when that low goes when that slogan and Logo are created we're going to look to have created like a banner for everybody's email so everybody's email looks
046the same it's got that logo there and it will say their name their contact information policy committee committee we met in the snowstorm I had a family that's more virtual you will see the results of our meeting here tonight and policies that women reviewed and we are up to date yes yes we are good negotiations wasn't much was really just receiving their proposal we see any more information later tonight Mr Lucky anything on the budget report uh your summer your page there we received 4 million 3992.36 sentence tax loading payments which was totally this this property value or property taxes we've received 8 million 500 800.693 in one cent which is 71 percent collected the rest of the remaining will come in July and August Carl's done some claims to a special ID of 75
047129 he's also following the claims for Esther and two so without the DNS or two and now he'll start submitting claims for the SO3 funds which he has through next year to play um yeah those are the highlights done facilities I've covered in the middle of the realms foreign what is the status or action plan for this school zone flashing lights yes okay Stephen and Dan have been working with the company and right now that you can't go to remote and the company and Stephen correct if I'm wrong the company hasn't been much insistent so Dan and Stephen are going to have to go out there but it's uh we're called the base it's very snow and ice right now yes so when that is on Frozen and thought I thought out and they can
048actually open up and work out it inside there we changed the system because they're supposed to be Wireless so we could Soleil we can connect and upload the schedule and if that just hasn't worked for us since we got it um the company we bought Perma has only one it man and he doesn't respond to phone calls and he's slow with his emails um so we we finally got a hold of him it was uh oh there's a bypass if you go in there and you connect to it but you need to unscrew part of the base to get to the micro USB cable to upload the schedule that is where we're at yeah this process has gone on for many months so we know a lot of other the solid ice is gone I
049think he's out in there and is supposed to work at that point I'm not right I'm not so sold on this company that I can still work with in Pennsylvania that is exactly the answer to the job description under others who is his um yeah yeah I know in the mornings there's two police officers but a problem well the only reason I bring it up is needs to be fixed it's for safety reasons it's been like this all year yeah we live in Wisconsin no it doesn't work it hasn't worked all year and I actually thought when they got rid of the school zone hey what if you're the school's home and then I I know it's a challenging and vendors are tough to work with get that every day so your explanation it makes
050sense but I would tell this taccon that is that who it is right yeah you know and they may not care but we may not find another benefit maybe it's a cool issue what's that it's a covet issue well that's what everyone wanted tech support is a phone call like you said you just never got one bags your standards are really high though for return calls and responds yeah we're not talking about your technology everybody's going to feel like his standards he's so good um foreign so we have this document the two prepared it is going to go to the Capitol next Tuesday to talk to our legislators about um semester's position on the governor's budget matters I I don't want to be labor of this but this is the first time the school board
051has really gotten involved in looking at this and taking talking about a position and I kept reading this and wondering could we could we the document equipment can we add to it to um to quantify some of this for instance the um under the limit adjustment we called the CPI for 21. in 2223 should we add the eight minutes eight percent for the next year you know on the listing session with with Joel kitchens I brought to help with the revenue formula which was developed in 1993-94 really hasn't had any significant raises per student and um Indians fallback answer was well School Board president his fallback answer was you're right but I don't think that's going to happen any traction in the assembly because they had a blue ribbon panel that made a recommendations he
052was part of that we've never been anything that was like the 15 th commissions why why did well he says his colleagues all the big schools don't want that no no every every school districts and he knows he knows very well about it but you know what the problem really is there's a lot of assembly uh people who don't even know what the formula is for what it represents in a black hole so these are the figures that have your ASB is using yeah I mean um I think that's all all of this really ties back to the revenue limit we don't we don't have enough special and he knows that every school district in York County is presently under a operational reference of some sort so my question that was there in the NBA
053Center is a lot larger number than 1.23 and 4.7 it's actually the trend yeah these are just recent ones right they've lost tracks since 1994. um well if you're trying to make a point I would add more easier numbers this year right now how do you take eight percent out of your budget and we do Theory right give it eight percent raise on our budget I mean with the numbers and the equations we're talking about that's why it matters so much right it hasn't been added to the student across what we are into our budget in any way yes perfect yeah all right that has sort of developed a budget for next year we're facing eight percent in July they should address it great you got eight percent added for 23 24. yeah that'd be
054great the got it under fuel costs and again this is a matter of showing them reinforcing the number can we can be saying what we spent so far this year can we say and if the current price per gallon prevails will spend this much in this school year and maybe we should talk about how many miles this school district maybe we should say our school district is 154 miles and our buses travel um I think it says 53 000 last year in familiar in January you had 39 in January is half of the year I think they could figure it out every 90 39 is going to be achieve a thousand right I think you'd have to head tomorrow I think you have to say halfway through the year we're already at 39. okay yes
055I think you have to say that you're halfway through this yeah tool so rather say January which we all know is common sense is halfway through yourself yeah halfway through the year okay so instead of as of January 23 halfway through this school year our costs better right now yeah that that's my points on some of these things I feel like we have to this is for who though well this is for the legislators but this is also a document we could give to we can present to the public we could send this to the pulse so that our public knows like Biology Schools as a dramatic effective there is an issue here it needs to be interested okay to me one person one school district that is the government will actually win this gold
056one at a time that's why I don't think there's a lot of that's why I personally don't think there's a lot of use of going out there and talking but then one of course at my time but we're talking to them let's try to spell it out for them okay so you are halfway through the school year our costs were already 39 000 Etc does the the um we all talk about you know increased behavioral and emotional problems of the kids can we quantify that number in some way for the students that need services and aren't getting it in our school district either by number or percentage and why is the 8 000 you know 80 375 000 375 in care spending why is that so insufficient for us why why is that insufficient is
057there a way to is there a way to quantify that yeah we talked because there are some that are in waiting list or would have done for public radio news one of the things that makes me think about right away is the stride program and how many students are being served and how many how many applications have been sent and not gotten that are being socialized when you say said so we're going to get sent to Distributing to parents my parents don't bring them back and the parents don't bring them back but they've been recommended to go so I can send out a lot of stride applications because it's recommended but the parent ultimately has to sign off right yes I want the services for my student so the kids that whose parents have said
058Okay I want my content Services yes they're being service yes and we have money to do that no well Sebastopol does it because it goes through the the parent Guardians insurance now if the insurance is not covered by Bellin the United Way helps cover the cost of the council Soul so it's not to money does not come from the school for the stride program because we don't have imagine we got funded correct so the numbers do matter because remember the reason we're doing it I actually believe this is this isn't going to make a difference right but here's where it does make a difference yeah you know how you get all the schools to do it one school does it and now once this is documented we put in our file cabinet and on his
059hard drive and we'll save it and then when all of a sudden we have budget issues at the school and teacher shortages because I mean because our school heads are coming and we're talking operational referendums this is very good information to send out to all our taxpayers and say here's the situation and PS while you're voting pay attention but these are things that matter so something like this would be something called for our next operator and related to this when we talk operational referendums why do we need them this is some of the data for that and it's not a good or bad I'm just saying because we know why most schools are under operational reference because they kind of change some of the approach there's good and bad to that depending on the day
060of who you're talking to but so that's why I think maybe they've been adding a few more dates like number I would think the numbers that are recommended yeah people that I recommend I think matter yeah we have no social worker service here right and and then because they can come back as well they don't have a church well that's a different dialogue but maybe because I hear this too there's a growing recognition of the you know school shootings and all these other challenges that we all are monitoring and what's going on are we taking are we doing the right things well money resources help solve problems so maybe maybe if it doesn't have so much and add the numbers in because yeah it was a free and and discrete like some of our programs
061are a lot of these parents probably say okay yeah you know my my kid my benefit from that you know another piece that we had a little bit onto what Sue had said with the social worker too is we're the only District that doesn't have a school psychologist right now we get bot we we do we are all right but I think that'd be important for the public to kind of know and we can't and why why because we still have every position because we have a budget that we have to stay in but we don't we're not funded to wear it and what do you need the other districts dedicated to English language learners so we need to get some help better yeah I think that's a great Point too so please let our
062resources don't have to spend it there so that's that's yeah I'll also separate one this one yeah like can we say and I'd like to reinforce that why okay the need is there why is the need there what don't you have what don't you I like to look at that and and and give you some information or something now the hustle on that is who's going down the capitol well I'm leaving Tuesday Tuesday so I can drop down Sue and I have talked a little bit too but I think at least that starting list that you suggested absolutely if they want to check our numbers they are welcome to come and have a meeting with us okay yeah great thank you yeah let's get it started thank you the staff started and they're facing all
063students can we type this should be back in the revenue student why why this is why this is one of the reasons the revenue to be is free so that we have more money to pay teachers but the problem with the staff shortages is whether it's a shortage of staff each school district is jocking against each other and so spend more money you know you need more money for salary and benefits because we're stealing each other's teachers and as teachers free agents and Bubbles City you know we need the gap of shortage of Staff Phil I don't know how that's going to happen with Steve white though this happened in every industry right now but well we can see the powers that Gibraltar is offering offering care to they're asking we're saying such shortage require
064additional dollars right but if we get extra dollars and Gibraltars we need extra dollars too because they have saved 600 kids so we'll never catch up to the Joneses on that one and we're ahead of other districts in that regard so I don't know I don't know how money is going to save the stat staff sort of just as some of our workers off the statement are available well we can also reviewers to if we have a pair of Professionals for instance who would be interested in getting certified as a teacher to provide tuition money for them three times here pardon me we've done that three times yes and we may have to do it more oh absolutely so maybe we should add that to this one or money isn't going to fix it just
065take this one off and give them one lesson to think about and you can ask the the parent professionals just grow your own right yeah that's what we've done three times yeah and I can add that if that's what the board wants yeah if they were financially supported grow your own program okay something like that training for AIDS to become teachers and they should know what where you're at is but the public isn't going to know and grow your own and so we kind of need to spell it out school system that that catches that here's a lawmakers I mean like I retired here and I have a masters of History now I'm retired I can't walk in here and teach music I've been teaching history and Congress I think we'll get all licensed right
066now offers a lot of programs but that's just bureaucracy I learned accomplished personally whatever whether it's a shot or something like that I've got a TC and teach I teach the next level K-12 education is different than higher ed no it doesn't it it is according to the system that's according to the system right but I'm saying that's where that's that's the real yeah that's something that catches so this is kind of for school districts but those just lead to like DPI because there's a lot of problems all our schools have and for a simple person like me DPI would be at the right level or all the schools and how to handle that like one that someday I'll bring up here chat upd it's an artificial intelligence you don't worry about it it exists
067there today you can log in right now and all our homework from our high school can be created there like all right I know what it was what are we doing to prevent it you can pay money for tools like you know I know Universal lacrosse the Case Western University because that's where my kids goal they have all their software in place that valid checks for this have we has this school started to address that and how do we handle that because there's some real Khan Academy has done a great job integrating it it's awesome don't go get some tutoring and Khan Academy holy awesome right I was just looking at it and we use that as a class by the way but um so my my point is this I'm going too far down
068that path would this be a place too to bring up is there money going to DPI or what is DPI doing for all these all these cross-cutting issues that we're facing what were the guidance and coordination the place for that would be in resolutions submitted to wasb that's a different channel right right and we certainly could do that for the fall absolutely okay very good thank you yeah just put that on your Instagram I'm learning about that yeah and that's only two years away all these kids don't have to do any homework it's here now right on their essays for them deal with a couple of those are you really all right I don't know is the English language Learners on this that's what the English Learners it it's now English Learners yes okay it's
069switched over time so my my question on that is um we need more we we've spent all this money we spend this money should we quantify that by saying what our what our population is we have we have what I understand is a significant population of yields I think it's a 34 this year and it's been study the last couple years um I think we're up to 40 at one point and then they come in not speaking English at all is that a percentage of this high school or coming in without speaking to any English at all so we should say that if we should fortify that need here there might be lower numbers but the numbers that you see in the people's Services just this in the past four months there's been three students
070that have come in that have no English at all so the all the majority of the El resources go there so it's learning how to distribute those resources well the English Learners are judge zero one two three four five to another level and so we're getting more of these zeros which is more time and effort but Carl and the last life that you'll help that go back in yeah okay in the letter what it says as of January of 120 for that one we should say for 23 24 as a project or 2223 is a projected little spend 41. that's what it should be to show us more than or the halfway through the thing okay right well halfway through thing is the head it's basically half of 21 22. okay what that's called the
071actor what Kyle thanks Kyle what was your statement there the statement was rather than saying as of January same thing as what we had for the cost of fuel okay is a is projected for this school year and probably people of that number is going to be or halfway through It's 121 000 already so you know it's going to be I don't know it might be consistent at about 241 is what it looks like right and that's that consistent but it's still you know I jumped off of 195 to 241 right and read that much between the lines that's you know forty five thousand dollars so my point is we're telling them we responding why we need increased funding because we've got a significant factor I do think they're coming to us to categorize that
072I mean I can't watch the news people and it's good for them to realize it's affecting everyone we have 39 we have 39. it's affecting every state that like affects our district it doesn't impact uh neighboring districts as much as us we have more English language Learners than other districts have well so that means to put that into your eyes yeah yeah and that's why I like the funding for that because that's fair because it sends the money to the place where the need is the best money in this kind of program should not go to events in Wisconsin or to Elk Grove Wisconsin because they don't have the need that Darlington and Sebastopol have well where I'm going with if you add some of that zero level stuff in some brief weight and by
073Tuesday that puts meat on this and not to mention rejection so I'm guessing next year so we're going to hit 240 250 the end of this year next year should be higher you're trying to sell these points that maybe you should pay attention and you're right maybe it's by school so set up a program or we can do but it's pocketed you know yeah you know I what you're saying I agree with and I and I like what you were saying is the more teeth you put into it it doesn't uh someone's whining you again no they have actual numbers or projections there's actually budgets I mean well we have someone might actually read this we have a six-hour kids and we dedicate five staff members to gibraltar's got 600 kids if they don't have
074five teachers and five teachers or eight dedicated that because they don't have a need up there like we do believe so there are rules there's a below there so our resources end up in five people are concentrating at 34 kids because we don't need there but if we did have a situation we could spend that money over the other 600 kids how many kids in that year currently we have 39. okay yeah so I think for consideration between your two smart people is I would think of the five staff members per 600 kids that's incredible data that our superintendent thinks is higher than most with his reference they projected for the next year I think would be important and then if you could roll in I mean these are recommendations that that zero level that
075we're coming in and what that means which supports the projection we have I have we have that written what that looks like we're already a page and a half that's another I mean right I mean we're going to read that far I'll get more data and then we'll be okay in three quarters um I don't know if it'll allow them anymore I think they know what they're going to do but I think this is going to be useful for public information laying around next year yeah yeah I bet our public doesn't know a lot of English whatever the English language thing you should ask the legislators that maybe they should change the laws of these because Anthony spent all this money in educating then grab a car because right now looking for fair prices English
076language kids you can active driver's license that was discussed schedule prisoner US citizens that's a different issue that's a different topic they're a U.S citizen that's a zero level but yeah the last one the last one is as I recall we were not going to support the 20 million dollar year reading the initiative because we didn't really think it was going to we recognize you know the state may be down with reading but that that sort of proposal wasn't with the reading coaches really wasn't going to help the fact that that's so I thought we were going to take that one out all right we'll check it out it is getting a lot of play it got a lot of play as representative kitchens uh listening session too from community members I'm sure it will
077because well what I read if they divided it evenly it would be 47 000 per School District but are they going to give it to Sebastian I think semester we're going to get that coaching because our reading scores are above the state average whereas all the help's going to go to it's 47 per school so we're seeing in Milwaukee you only get 47. that's the average [Music] so okay what else I think that was it it was great a great document I I wanted to hope we could put a little more teeth into it to um maybe for the legislators but mostly for the public and you want all the board members should come from the importance of districts of that School Board of Education yeah I think you should say elements go back to
078the voters foreign I would like to add my email address because if somebody wants to follow up they need to know where to follow up and if I hear from anybody I can assure you I will bring it back to the sport okay thank you all right so we need a motion to approve those changes to the documentation changes to the document which we've just discussed in the future on paper sad um the Wisconsin Association of school boards board member cost approval last month of all the events yeah um I think maybe we'll table this there are there are Wisconsin association's Awards holds a lot of events and seminars and topics and things and we get those things in the mail and some goals some don't my thought was maybe we should look at a
079calendar every couple of months and see well what's out there and should we send someone or this is not really worth sending someone because it is always an expense maybe next meeting I'll bring some additional information yeah I think the discussion could be something like you know we asked all our staff on a group to make little recommendation sheets you know Hawaii is something is good for me and I don't know it's not too unreasonable to say that just to keep all the board members a post but this is what's going on this is why there's value and this is what I would like to hold most programs that have a smaller questions so I'll try to bring some better information next time the recurring request plus some other people might have time to joining
080then we have a mfmla request from Mr Paul that's why it's having a baby that's great are you okay with his uh request of time yeah move to approve the FMLA for Mr grindball second this is a federal requirement movies okay it always comes to us the only discussion is kind of how we lays out as requested or the families out to request a time off right there's a little later request a lost amount of hours that you give out in sick time sometimes there will be request to be off every Friday or every Monday yeah any other questions or discussion all in favor say aye um [Music] um book selection committee this came out of discussion out of the um uh sessions at the Wisconsin Association of school boards School Board convention and a
081school district and remember the school district um they have been receiving requests for both bands On The Rise anywhere and they have a book selection committee so they have a book selection Committee of staff community members teachers they primarily As I understood it looked at the band requests that the whole selection said you're understanding soup not to what they didn't look at they didn't sit down every year and say okay these are the books that we're going to buy for our library they were focus more on any man requests requested right right and uh other districts have set up committees prior to having issues raised so that you have a stand-in committee which then can review it doesn't look like you're creating the committee to deal with the uh requests that you received so at
082this time shouldn't have asked to pull and set up a committee book selection committee so that it's a standing company in case something Horizons and isn't for the purpose of looking at requested bookbands or is it for the purpose of looking at current book purchases currently we're trying the future it doesn't matter yeah and I have some information from the Warsaw District uh regarding their what they call it a reconsideration committee and it was made up of one central office administrator in their case one member of the school teaching staff chosen by the school staff one member of the library media center professional staff chosen by the library media center professional staff one member of the School parent organization chosen by the parent organization two high school students chosen by the student governing body which
083in our case would be the student council right lots of a lot larger than us so one of the main choices and right now we don't have any realization it'll help ETO no but we do have parents who have been involved in the PTO right so I do like many forms of reconsideration are you looking for a committee by our whole structure we develop ad hoc committees all the time that's a normal process I don't think it indicates anything if we don't have a committee what do we have a new issue we did and then you can and quite frankly if it's a highly scientific book that's being reviewed you might want more STEM related people to help review that if you have a highly history related book you might want someone without expertise so
084I'm just questioning I think when we when we get the challenge we should put the right Community together to review that I'm not questioning that I'm just questioning excuse me why do we need to standing committee that's a question answer questioning um book content I have not had a parent confront me ever and on my 34 years and when I had that form signed by parents everyone signed it this year to their child can check out books so in my 34 years personally me I've never had anyone talk to me about banning the book the day will probably come though because it's possible or more across the state right but what you said was true is most schools they do not set up the reconsideration committee exactly as it is until there is an issue
085but there are people that maybe like teachers from the elementary maybe there would be someone who would like to be on the committee and maybe an English teacher or student but like you said it is specific topic then we would want to make sure that that person representing has the knowledge and as far as far as book selection when you when so when you purchase books every year right and you have a catalog and how do you pick them I have reread um from journals professional journals I belong to linked up I look at recommendations from CCBC if I look at it's all professional reviews add recommendations from staff members or students have a selection that they would like then I go and check it out first and then so I'm assuming those books are
086screened before they even give to you whoever groups are those external groups the National Association but folks are some of that are approving books that the average appearance would not ever allow in their home so I like where the I think it's no longer of an issue of do we have Catcher in the Rye it's gone way beyond that and there's a great suspicion between large segments of society and the educational establishment there was a time that you could parents felt they could trust the educational establishment to make the righteous visions but I think there's a large part of the people out there and the private parents who are very suspicious of the educational environment establishment because they feel they're going down above the wrong road as we've heard from the the guest speaker earlier
087at the beginning of the meeting there is a lot of Sound and Fury and I respect what you're saying that if you establish a committee with all the Insiders it's an inside deal and I mean you still have to play I got a question if I may over here thanks for being part of this how many books a year do we buy in the library um I just purchased about 200 a few weeks ago so how many of those Tunes 200 new titles okay so the only thing I would add to this is I think you set up a committee when you need an action but I do agree with what you're saying so I didn't know we bought 200 new titles every year and what I I now kind of think maybe we could
088have a discussion about do the new titles in today's world Todd we do something to improve the training these words improve the transparency and maintain the trust of our of the selection right that's what that would do is offering it to the community but I mean it's just a discussion because there's pros and cons about any Community we've talked about it all the time it depends I picked these three people versus three times Bridget you said 200 books you just recently purchased right for elementary how many school-wide all year long how many total books new titles I think that's more on the classrooms which are the two libraries well I'd say about because most books cost about twenty dollars a piece nowadays total over a year okay so 300 new titles and David you're good
089at your concern about the committee whether it was a history book or a science book in velocity did say the reconsideration committee may choose to consult District support staff and or Community persons with related Professional Knowledge so it might be somebody from dermatronics if you're ordering a book that deals with something in that area who picks the 300 votes 300 books what you're talking about selection that's different than it yeah because if your selection criteria is sound [Music] was saying that she has professional Library guidelines right yeah but who what library we approve that Library the University of Stanford no professional organizations for the history they want local control are you suggesting that there could be a mini that can reduce titles to be purchased yeah new titles that's that's what this whole thing is
090about is the concern is let's take this in reverse the concern is some book in our library right now is defensive to somebody right now okay they're every three lottery so then somebody comes to us and says I don't like this book in your library right and then we do a reconsideration committee what I'm suggesting is what that other gentleman that just spoke to us is sympathy dig deeper in our criteria of making decisions which says you've all heard me say a critical thing people so all these organizations that you refer to which are probably awesome you can dig in to that organization and you can find out the fundamentals the holidays select books how they prioritize books and what they recommend you could do that with time and money right and find out so
091that these professional organizations really hit the mark for elementary K-12 um in Wisconsin right that would be an activity that you could look at because there's some organizations you could dig into and you're like yeah I don't know that our taxpayers would support that and we could even ask if you want the FR but I don't do it so that's the thing that this has turned around to me I thought we're just evaluating the book you know is to be proactive but still some of the challenging book that's in ourselves and then you need a reconsideration to me at that point so do proactive and that way to have a committee established at a time or do you scramble and put it together which was going to take a lot of time the input and
092effort I think the easiest thing right now is to set up a mechanism if a parent calls a Kyle and says I don't like this text this book whether it's a textbook or this or something like that it should be it should be taken out okay and I think we should have a system set of network houses okay here's our mechanism and this is what you do in these protocols for protocol how about what what we pull in right now the other thing is that is a long-range project if you want to grow into it I mean I mean that's where all this stuff going on and gone but right now I think that immediately is if if we have a complaint do we have a process worked out of who we call together to
093review it and make a decision and I think the person who and I think the person who picked up no and I think the person who's okay is the complaining parent a member of that committee is the complaining parent a member of that decision the person no no see that's what we heard back then that's right all right you have that you have that process already right and there's it's ready yes so I mean well I do think there's two things and one is a longer term is we have a way to respond and it's already a policy thing for saying that way so and the other one is do we have a bigger issue long term but we don't have a committee you don't have a selection committee thank you all right so there's
094two ways to go is it we establish a book selection committee that reacts or do we have a book selection selection committee that reacts but also reviews new titles the motion and something well I I may I recommend we focus on the committee first because the other thing I think there's some discussion with our current library and how you currently select books and maybe there's a future briefings and this is how I do this this is what I consider and these are my inputs it may be awesome I'm just unfamiliar with it you're saying they have a reconsideration committee no no well what I'm saying is she belong to two together and I'm trying to say a cleaner motion would be if someone want to set up a selection committee for reconsideration I don't this
095new vocabulary or any dictionary what does it mean just like Equity what does it really mean console we want to set up a committee to review books when there's a complaints right the reconsideration that's the right title I'm sure I would think we would establish a chairperson and then that chairperson would be in charge of selecting the community based on the objection and a chairperson to me you would be in this obvious choice would be the person who is in charge of the problems right big question so that you're asking yourself well to handle the complaint s okay yeah because she was she said yeah it was 300 books she picked and then one parent says hey that book I don't like and they're challenging it and you're saying okay let's go to the committee
096and the chairperson is the person who's selected that book yeah we have to deal with it on a professional basis I mean you can't deal with it on an emotional basis who else would be the chairman of let's say a complaint came to uh Brian Paul about uh something that's being done in the tech end if I bought a textbook okay or whatever I mean let's stay focused we're talking about the lottery that we put in charge of hammering the complaint you certainly wouldn't put the industries in charge I'm sorry all right but I would certainly want the media projects US military and I had to do myself whenever there's a raised complaint you go one level up so you would not put her in okay not that she's done anything wrong that's why make
097her defend herself you would not know that that is yeah foreign [Music] because I helped her edit it and like drafted and everything because I worked in the law before I became a teacher and I wanted to make sure that it was I mean we have a responsibility as a public school to act in local parentis not in Solo parentis not in total parentis but in loco parentis yes we are not questioning any any level of professionalism we're trying to get ahead of the curve right someone come with a complaint with the same degree but what I'm saying is she put this together and sent it out to all the parents and gave the parents the option of literally having the power to veto any single book that their kids might check out from the
098library yeah then you know what family objected to respect and we got zero complain parents looked at it and said yeah I love him check it out but when the book comes home somebody's gonna see it and say I've got a problem with this so we can throw the law firms that's fine I get that and they're smart people like you that do that but we have taxpayers in reality that we have people that will come up and say why is this book here and some of us will look at the book you're like we're teaching this I mean why would we teach that because it's I'm not I'm sure your books are awesome but there are books out there that wouldn't the rewrite history is my understanding and I've never read that book but
099that's what they say is that true I don't know admin team will mean us followers after spring break they will come back um administering Narcan I'm sorry this is a little bus from last month administering our campus okay American I need some right now all right I brought this up there many times um the it continues on as we know there's a hundred and somehow people diagram as well um but from ethanol every year there's now a period of Handy it's coming across the border it's the the cartels and government makes this stuff actually have more presses now which can grind this stuff uh but through just like the pill that you get from the drug user from the same initials on it the same color of any other type of drugs it's a huge
100problem it hasn't come here yet and I keep talking about it because if I don't wanted to come here but if it comes here we need to be prepared in the same way that we have sprinkler systems and the locks on our doors and fire extinguishers all that forevitability if that ever happens we can take care of it the problem and I'm focusing primarily on fentanyl it's appearing in candy it's being passive observed us we want to be prepared you have like 25 minutes at the most sometimes less depending on how long it takes before somebody realizes that Johnny is not atomizing the party Falls passes out in the bathroom if they find 20 minutes after he's passed out and hasn't shown up in class around feeling all messed up so what I'm what I'm
101suggesting is what I've read so far some schools are just going to show your videos are aware of let's go out in Virginia uh things on the water break the glass and affect the Narcan is inside in Wisconsin State Board of whoever it is has authorized that we can teach all the way down to the students faculty level how to react to these dangerous situations again I look at it at the school our size and what we're trying to do the word kids from other districts here you can only need one bad case and that would just blow it all apart all right and if he's spending all your time defending how you got family um some Kid Rock the Gumdrop that looks like a gumdrop and passed around um a couple things just for
102discussion can you answer that you would say so when you have that Madden Narcan Narcan is a missiles from other people and there's no risk to other people no if somebody got their hands on Narcan Texas so then the other thing I check that out with the local pediatrician awesome and that this is and and then so when we put them in these well I maybe I am okay they're 17 right let's put a cost on this right so the little little red thing in your video you can buy it for 17 and there's a nicer one that would recommend for 56 000 right so so the rep what you're saying is the risk to our school is low the cost would be very low so that we would need some smart people to say
103how many units do you need it's like what our EMS team come in and recommend you need three in every hallway and two out by the locker uh gym right so then we buy them but the cost that's what I'm going after is let's get a cost to the school because if the cost is two thousand dollars a year because you got to buy them and then one day it's gonna get broke and then certainly expire but I don't know how long and then look at that so actually from our earlier discussion I think it's not a bad idea okay but it's backtracking from that okay I was going to recommend another one in my reading is Center to that school employee I thought she was she's never been I don't choose left where everybody
104wanted adults all right okay but anyway but don't worry about definitely um but they're going to speak when I read Grant State's School Board is on it they recommended this paper their offices under control of us and she begins to develop it and who would come so I'm saying we should sit down I'd be happy to stay on school nurse and begin putting together a program of what we should do with Narcan and that would eventually come back here with The Proposal how much we should have originally located and who should be taught to administer apparently we have it at two locations in the nurse's office and in school resource office okay so if they're here that's fine if they're not here I don't know what to do you know they should be randomly according
105to repeat the doctor might talk to it should be readily available in a place that is open all the time to schools open the school's not open then okay so I don't know if those offices are open when there's a basketball game going on upstairs I mean that's another place you could talk about the video put them in the hallway I know there's no risk if someone steals yeah you're taking it to another step um I mean if if you want to recommend that I go along with you I mean I believe that's the ultimate point and I think you need to I think if you're going to have the boxes up you need to then open it up which faculty would like to be taught I found more to support you I think it's
106a good idea so whatever yeah so in a social game what if we establish a committee to discuss the availability of Narcan in the school our Narcan program American program and bring back our proposal I don't believe me I got a flyer today so according to the mail to fentanyl's in an indoor County right now and what we're saying it's a safety precaution we didn't have to get a committee to get fire statement sprinklers uh put in so he just went to the expert and said what what no that's required well that's where we're getting call the hospital and say who's right there so if you want a committee what's an establishment there's a standardized program right now if you remember the night well there's my understanding the medically there's no risk so the risk
107to us is way lower we need to develop from professional people that we and I'll be happy to share it and I will work with the school nurse and coming back here like in 60 days with the Narcan program for this driving station question for discussion um then we'll look for some potions on these resignations I refuse to approve the resignation of Emily's thousand math interventionists June 2023. all papers say aye all right Gary next one groundbreaking the resignation of Ron Frank from the Middle School track and field coach questions move to approve the resignation of day of Fuller Middle School boys basketball second question to discussion all in favor said platypus motion carry then a motion to approve the revision of those numerous policies foreign [Music] we'll make a motion to convene an executive
108session second World Cup hold it soon all right Jerry all right bye bye motion Hearing in 8 49 PM we'll make the motion to go into open Island I we are on I think I think I did not oh approved in preliminary notice of non-renewal [Music] second questions or discussion um say aye aye opposed motion Kerry um the emotion on compensation move to approve compensation for the 23-24 school year to include twenty five hundred dollars per teacher 3.5 percent for administrators four percent for support staff second I'll second all famous ad all right opposed motion carry then we have this the grid for 4K and 5K that's to approve this that is nice I make a sense outstanding motion to approve the stamping 23 24 teacher 8 grid for the 4K 5K as presented fine
109as a second questions or discussions do you just want to make that 23 24 is that the really the motion says 23 24. or is it just a foreign um our next regular meeting is April 19th link you will let us know in the interim if you need a special meeting for anything with the election in April and so we got the canvas the Bulls 10th in the morning would be best with a couple of people there that can't listen close now it's who's um so they can they should not be members of that okay there's a good chance but but if I'm in town I would be here but I'm pretty sure in the morning yes the morning of the 10. I could do it make one like 11. I like it earlier because
110Chris Bowl has a webinar one is going to eat lunch before that or make sure you get it done I mean at least two later that's good how many days after the actual election you have to Canvas um yeah but then Good Friday is that Friday no question so what affects us being in the office that actually do it we're close so the 10th the tent that 10th at 10. 10 yeah anything else motion to adjourn so move second all right now
