than her principal and at the same time when she's not down in colorado playing hockey practicing or playing games she has a job more than that she participates in the silent witness walk and is creating a community service club at east high school the zonta club in which she will participate in which she'll help the students at east high school participate in functions in our building as well as in our community zoe brown um i would just like to say thank you to everybody for being here and i'm very honored to be receiving this award especially from one of the greatest principals in wyoming so thank you all for that i will be continuing my education at east high school and graduating and i would like to be furthering my education at uw and maybe

way back in the day and she's been that tough and that awesome since then so good job zoe today i get to be here to um i'm so proud of miss alicia this is miss alicia walker she is in eighth grade here at johnson uh she's a singer she's going to be starting voice lessons at act 2 studios not only is she doing that but she really wanted to turn 14 so she could help announce and be a part of our event staff for events like our athletics and she's going to be working on the star-spangled banner so we can sing the national anthem at our middle school event so yeah you can go ahead and cut that so she is great in and out of the classroom she also babysits and enjoys time with
her family she wants to attend juilliard so my fine arts heart is just so happy um she's inspired to do this by her elementary school teacher miss thomas at axler ba her guidance and inspiration gave alicia the confidence to pursue her dream she's a straight a student and she does amazing when she's announcing at athletic activities she's a very dedicated student who is always willing to help continue to strive for excellence she's a great example of our firebird pledge and she's always looking for ways to help improve our culture at johnson alicia is not only a smart student but she also embodies what it means to be a firebird alicia is kind considerate and a hard worker she always completes her work promptly well and to the best of her ability she is willing to

and mr boland sits on that board and again i'd like to thank mr bolin for bringing that opportunity to lcsd1 thank you all right um our next uh recognition is for our wyoming high school activities association good sportsmanship award if i could have mr tom siemens come up front and then he will go through the list we have quite a selection today thank you good evening it's always an honor it's the best part of my job to honor the kids that have been chosen there's good sports and uh we have a whole bunch tonight and we can be very proud of them we've got uh the kids that have won the award and some coaches from every school so that's outstanding i'm going to start with cheyenne east high school we have two winners one
is the whole football team the first week of the season the douglas officials association chose our team in thunder base and it's a fantastic game it's the only game east has lost this year but uh they were so impressed with the sportsmanship of both teams they wanted to nominate both teams for sportsman of the week it was a fantastic game i don't know how many of you saw it and then we'll have coach chad goff representing the football team and then the week after that seth smith was chosen as a person with outstanding sportsmanship at the natrona county game it was a one-point game and again that was the laramie officials association uh we just wanted to recognize the two centers from both teams that were just getting after it every play and then picking
people up and being fantastic to the opponent as well as to their teammates so uh mr goff will be online online as travis eldridge under that so if we can pull him up okay kyle can you see if we can get both of those our coach and our player online uh we're here can you hear us you can welcome let's go thank you so much for the award um just a credit to the the kids that we have uh they possess such high character and they were raised right and they live right and uh truly just a blessing to to be a part of their lives and what we got going on here and uh very happy to receive this award and next to me i got seth scott here and he's ready to talk
to you as well uh yeah i just wanted to say thank you so much for uh recognizing me for this award our coaches are always preaching us to uh be good men on the field and act how we would out in public so i just want to say thank you so much for doing that well then congratulations would we give him a kind of a round of applause please thank you move into south high school uh september 17th the coaching staff was chosen by the warland officials association for uh professional and courteous being professional courteous and respectful and i know official officials really enjoy that when coaches aren't ripping into them every single second of the game and coach gallis has won these awards before and then we also have um braden hughes who's going
to be honored twice he was honored the september 17th game against campbell county the officials uh said he helps his opponents up he congratulates them he's always positive eager to be involved in the game and he's a true team captain and we have a third person from cheyenne south as well that's from the september 24th central south game um and well and that's braden hughes and jacob randalls and the officials from laramie said kids have good attitudes excellent listening all around and a level of positivity that's out of this world says football needs more players like this so if we can get coach gallis and jacob randalls and braden hughes okay we're looking for you online [Applause] thank you so much great to see you thank you so much for the award we really really
appreciate it brayden is unable to be here this evening he had a family commitment that he had to work through and i tried to get him to get here but uh but he really had to help out his grandfather this evening and that's a credit to the type of person that he is he made a commitment earlier and and he needed to carry through with that braden does a wonderful job as as a captain as a player and as a leader and uh his teammates look up to him so much because of the the type of character that he has and uh and he's just a great uh person that should be able to or should be getting this type of an award he's had it before and uh he's well deserving this here is
jacob randalls and jacob did a great job against the players at central when he was there and he's he's constantly picking people up and helping him up and and supporting his opponents as well as his own teammates uh one thing about jacob is he didn't really play his sophomore year because of injuries and uh and so he's missed that whole year played as a freshman and then as a junior and then and then now as a senior he's done a wonderful job as as a leader coming on even because of his leadership he's one of our captains so i'd like to let jacob say a word or two i want to thank the coaches first off for guiding me through like ways how to keep maintained posturing through it and always to look out for
others before yourself and then thank the teammates also because they also been there with me as long as we've been through and i know with like south as it's being recognized as not the best but i believe that in my opinion it is as through it and i'll do whatever it takes to show very good and congratulations to all your parents as well congratulations [Applause] can i just quickly um thank you for a coach galasa congratulations you all you obviously have have coached these young men very well and they um they exemplify not only but your words but your actions and so thank you for that thank you so much and it's just as coach goff said it's they've been raised well and uh and i'm just part of part of the guidance but thank
you so much thank you very good this is from the same game that uh the two south boys were just uh honored for and it's richard prescott and the same things that we talked about earlier just the great attitude the positivity and the hard play helping the opponents up and just being an all-around good sport and i don't know if jacob is here or he's online if you're online would you raise your hand jacob or richard excuse me richard prescott oh richard all right very good richard could you raise your hand if you're online you don't see them oh go ahead i think principal george told me he had a different commitment okay so do we have anyone no all right all right well um congratulations to you richard prescott and your family and well
done central high school and the central high school football team thank you so much can we give them a round of applause [Applause] i'm going to be quick but i think every parent and every student athlete needs to understand that whether you're on an undefeated team a state championship team or you're on a team without any losses or without any wins if you're a great sport and you play hard you can be recognized as an outstanding person as an outstanding player there are a few people in this room that are as old as me and they know guys like dick butkus they didn't get to the super bowl they didn't get to the playoffs but uh still you can be a great player and a great person if you have the right attitude so i
i commend all of our kids for and our coaches and our parents for for raising kids this way so thank you thank you mr siemens well done all right [Applause] very good um the next item on the agenda is items from visitors for um agenda items and we have no one signed up so we'll be moving to upcoming meetings october 20th 2021 from six to seven east triad 100 day plan and open house at cary junior high on november 1st 2021 5 pm work session 6 pm board meeting and then our we are next on our agenda is item 3 which is individual board communications and reports do i have anyone who would like to speak yes trustee smith thank you i just wanted to um comment on a few things this weekend i had
the opportunity to travel to casper for a couple of student activities and i just wanted to give a shout out to the kids from all three high schools who participated in the wyoming state marching band festival on saturday i had never been to this event before but my son is a junior and i thought that probably high time i attend and watch these kids in action and it was incredible and our high schools showed up big and just performed incredibly um some of them came home with some very high honors i imagine we'll be recognizing them at a future meeting but anyway i just wanted to give a shout out to those kids i was so proud of them all of them and i you know i know kids from all of those schools and
um anyway it really was it was phenomenal so if you have a free saturday next i think it's always the third weekend in october or right around there it's a great way to spend the day if you want to go up and see these kids from all over the state tiny schools huge schools in action it was it was really neat and i was just so proud of our cheyenne kids the other thing i wanted to comment on i don't you know maybe folks in our audience don't know that we did this but we met um i guess as the committee of the whole for the policy advisory this last week and just started looking at and talking about our our policy committees um and the three different committees and what those entailed but then
also how we will be um you know we're working on the strategic plan this year too and just started doing some brainstorming and asking questions and that was really um an informative time for me i had only been on the board less than a year so i didn't have a lot of time last last year on those committees but i understand that maybe we even had a community member or two who was there i think and i know that last year we had a community member and on those committees so um i just i was pleased to be a part of that and i if there's a way to you know encourage community members or maybe even have a little more representation than just one or two individuals it might be as for looking at
strategic planning um you know great way to incorporate that voice but it was i was thrilled to be a part of that meeting last week so thank you to everybody from the district who made that happen very good thank you anyone else yes trustee clawson thank you madam chair i just want to say thank you to principal hall at goins elementary she invited me to come in and see her building today and it was really a pleasure to be in the in that school and to see how her teachers were implementing some of our curriculum and it was just very nice to be there i hadn't been in their building yet i've been in quite a few but not that one so it was nice to um to visit their school i just wanted to
say that thank you very good i would also like to mention that um brittany trustee ashby is with us online um she is following policy by if you're sick you stay home so she is home and zooming in uh tonight so brittany i'm sorry i should have said that earlier in our meeting but when i looked down there and your face wasn't there i thought oh i probably should say that so thank you um is there anyone else all right um we actually i think all of our board members were present um for uh meeting at the for policy um the committee of the whole which is getting ready for the strategic plan so um i appreciate all of the service and uh dedication uh that it's great to have the board in the interaction
and of course dr crespo was heading that up with our staff and um we're excited about that process and i know dr presbo will speak about that shortly um uh dr crespo i'm going to also let her speak about this but she and i met with deborah lee from the county clerk's office getting ready for as much as we can do already for the representative areas election so um dr crespo will fill everyone in on that with her report but we are starting that process we're kind of held hostage until we get all of those numbers sorted out and how the legislature works but she'll be able to to talk about that so it's been a busy busy couple weeks all right if there's no more uh discussion then um we'll turn this over to
reports from superintendent and staff um we're first one up on the list is cheyenne schools foundation grants award so do we have mr yates and we also have mary cross the head of our communications and mary's been on that shine schools foundation committee for a very long time and i've had the pleasure of working with mr yates as our president for the shine schools foundation for many many years and now rich currently serves in the position that i was in so i'll let i'll turn this over to jim and we've got some great things happening great thank you chair and thank you to the to the trustees for all of your support um before i present the grant winners uh we're i'm going to talk a little bit about the people that made the grinds
possible first is the board of the shine schools foundation there's 11 people on the board and they work very hard to get these events planned and to get the money out to the teachers next i want to thank the participants and the sponsors for our run for number one that's our big fundraiser each year and um and dr crespo was our event chair this year and that was a nice addition to the event despite the participation being a little lower than we wanted we raised over thirty thousand dollars um and this money will all be used uh for grants to teachers and special projects in the district um there were three schools that played a big role in this success um each of the schools not only raised the most money for their category but
also had the highest student participation rate they'll receive a trophy right here right here and a thousand dollars towards their school's general fund and uh first is uh triumph high and triumph um regularly has the highest student participation rate but i think this is the first year that they raised more money than all of the other high schools thank you very much thank you congratulations thanks let's get a picture and next we have johnson junior high and johnson regularly raises the most money of the junior highs and is often one of the schools with the highest participation rate and we have the vice principal michaela bradshaw here is and then we have uh dildine elementary and dildyne has raised the most money so many years in a row that their name is the only one
on the trophy and it's not just one name they also regularly have the highest student participation rate and uh mike gordon wardman their principal is a big supporter i also want to thank the air force rotc from easton central and the cheer squads from south and east for their help at the event as well now we have the grants uh this year we um awarded 14 grants totaling just over 20 thousand dollars and they'll be in 10 different schools this school year the first we have our excellent in education grants and they can be up to three thousand dollars each uh we have silk screen printing for student driven business by albio uh womack at central high and that was sponsored by the carlton family and they're one of our gold sponsors uh next is
coding to learn by amanda sanders at cole elementary this was sponsored by taco john's international also one of our gold span sponsors then we have avid college trips by christy van horn at johnson junior high and this was also sponsored by the carlson family next we have the stock market game and it's by joe jill cero at east high and it's funders sponsored by our other uh gold level sponsor first education federal credit union they also sponsored uh pottery wheel by megan john at east time and then our final excellence in education grant is the nasp wyoming game and fish bow hunter education program by tracy pugh at middle arc elementary and that was sponsored by mcgee hernan pies then we have our student enrichment grants which can be up to a thousand dollars each
and first we have professional finish by steve knox at east high and that's sponsored by american national bank then we have the regional french community connections by sarah evans at central and south high that's sponsored by the laramie county school district number one employees through their payroll deduction program and they are our largest uh sponsor group then we have stylized mixed media portraits by kayla pearson horning at east high and that's sponsored by blue cross blue shield of wyoming then we have blue dots programmable floor robots uh by brenda jenkins at rosman and that's sponsored by blue federal grade union then we have the literature of life by susan scar at south high and that's sponsored by the simpson electric company then our community library by chris hayes at hebert elementary and that's sponsored by
jonah bank of wyoming then we have solving problems one story at a time this is by marty derringer at with the cheyenne virtual school and that's sponsored by meridian trust federal credit union then our last grant is getting techie with it by tara hall at sunrise elementary and that's sponsored by hickey and evans again i want to thank our sponsors and congratulate our educators if you'd like more information you can or to make a donation you can go to cheyenneschoolsfoundation.org thank you thank you mr yates we appreciate you very much [Applause] well done congratulations to all our winners and i just want to talk about that committee and the board works really hard in selecting those grants and um it's quite a quite a thorough process and i know there's a few of those board
members out there that work on that grant committee and i just want to thank all their diligent work through all these years in putting putting all of that together so they have a great website i would highly recommend check out the cheyenne schools foundation website and you'll get a lot more information thank you all right um dr crespo it's up it's your turn thank you thank you thank you madam chair trustees just a couple of really quick updates as you know we're closing out the 100-day plan i just want to say thank you to all of the schools departments community members that responded to the qr code as well as allowed me to visit the buildings and just get feedback on the amazing things that we're doing you can anticipate over the next couple of
weeks um we will be reporting in a more formative narrative around where we are and what we've seen as you know our community is really excited about our teachers and our students and just the incredible work they do as well as our um grit and perseverance we've heard that quite a bit and just really very excited to share that narrative with you as we move into the strategic plan so for many of you you may have responded to a strategic plan questionnaire survey was sent parents high school students as well as board members and internal staff we're working right now on a community component we wanted to wait to make sure that we had enough feedback from um internal stakeholders and then we'll be opening that up to external stakeholders as well and then anticipate
over the next uh eight weeks doing a fair number of meetings our policy group was really very helpful in making sure that they're comfortable giving in input so that as we're moving forward with the strategic plan and those measurable outcomes that we've talked about um making sure that we're within the policy and the expectations and that group will be doing that as well our parent advisory group parent advisory council will be doing feedback as well um really just very excited to have that opportunity to build out our strategic plan as a district where are we going what are our outcomes and what do we expect those measures to look like and then we can anticipate that we'll be um reporting on that strategic plan moving forward as that gets developed and certainly understanding that we
have incredible legacy and we want to make sure that we're not losing what we've done before in our strategic plan uh to follow up with that just a couple of anecdotal pieces so first we received a petition uh we have forwarded that to our uh legal counsel we have 30 days to respond and we'll be doing that at that point um number two just related to the update that we did um that uh that chairman that chairman rainey mentioned we met with deborah lee uh the county clerk as well as david schill their demographic their demographer we talked about the census um you know what the census is not closed in terms of data yet so they're still gathering it's important to know that it is a rule that as we look at what our
representative areas look like we cannot split a precinct so being very clear about what that map looks like we don't want to interrupt the precinct mapping uh we will have three representative areas um moving forward as was determined during a year a year ago here yeah before i got here um a year ago and we will be continuing continuing to post those updates on the website some important dates as you know the legislature will go into session on 214 at february 14th valentine's day and based on that they will have 20 days to respond um to whatever is brought up through the census data as well as from the county clerk um the next piece i just want to thank the cheyenne school foundations we really these grants are incredibly supportive for our students for
our staff really gives us an opportunity to work in areas of innovation and give kids opportunities so i had a great time as part of the fundraiser and certainly really incredibly grateful for the great work that our community does for our students i would also share that we are um working on a volunteer visitor protocol i know that everybody's been anxiously awaiting parents to be able to get back into our buildings uh looking at our numbers we've been able to do that there will be a very tight protocol regarding what that looks like and how we do that working with the health department but we do feel that the numbers are such that we could um begin to to uh review that protocol and i hope to have more information forthcoming especially as we're headed
into the holidays um and we certainly want to make sure that our families have the opportunity to engage with their students and their buildings we recognize that our buildings are absolutely community on peace and then the last thing that i really just want to share is my um incredible gratitude for the cabinet i've said that before just the work that they're doing uh around all of the moving parts in the district and making sure that our kids are connected i had a call this afternoon i shared with chairman rainey when i walked in that um the parent was so excited because she had called me as well as calling some other members and somebody spoke to her already and that was just a few hours ago and i was like yes that's the kind of
feedback that we want to make sure we're getting to our community so i just want to thank um cabinet for their their incredible speed with answering um our community as it comes up and with that i am done okay very good do you have any questions from the board nope all right very good then we are at d1 consent agenda routine matters all agenda items listed with the designation of ca are considered to be routine items by the governing body and will be enacted in one motion there will be no separate discussion on these items any item removed from the consent agenda will be considered in its normal sequence on the agenda is there is there any board member that requests to move remove a motion from the consent agenda saying none now madam chair
i move to approve all motions listed as consent agenda second all in favor say aye aye opposed no the consent agenda passes item d 3.2 madam chair i move to approve a contract with the design studio incorporated for architectural services for the mccormick junior high library renovation second is there any discussion hearing no discussion all in favor say aye aye opposed no motion passes future business the next regular board meeting will be held on monday november 1st 2021 at 6 00 pm a work session will begin at 5 00 p.m um the business of the district is done it is time for public comment um i would like to um just go through a few things on the protocol for public comment the purpose of a board meeting is to conduct business of the school
district in public it's not a public meeting the board recognizes the value of public comment on issues related to the operations of schools to ensure that our meetings are conducted in an orderly manner we ask that you address the board directly please state your first and last name keep your comments two to three minutes so others have time to voice their comments keep your comments general in nature not directed at a specific individual or individuals please do not make it personal i will not have effects on personal individuals suitable and please keep it suitable in language and content for a k-12 grade students add additional information or please there no applause during um or after the comments we can move through this quickly and less disruption please um if someone would like to make a
comment at a board meeting you must sign up with darlene during the week before the meeting that number is 307-771-2121 and you'll be placed on the comment list to discuss agenda or non-agenda topics you may only call in for yourself you may not call in for anyone else or add additional names when you call in to be put on the public comment list you must attend in person or via zoom so we have two opportunities if you cannot be here in person then you may make your comment on zoom and if that doesn't work for you please send your statement to either darlene or email it to the board there will be no substitutes for the individual speaking now our first individual on our list is kaylee demmel actually we can turn that around for
you bless your heart hi i'm callie dummel and i'm happy to get the chance to share some things with you guys you guys have all been answering the phones so kind when i call so helpful spent a lot of time with me on the phone i was really you know surprised how much you know cooperation and feedback i got from you guys um i'd like to take the rest of the remaining time just to share a little bit of a story from last um monday's board meeting i'm going to turn around thank you for your um yeah we part of this is to address the board okay remember for everyone's patience with the baby he was a mess last monday so um this is his bedtime and um so last monday um when i left
the board meeting um that evening i i went to um a friend's house and i gave her um her son a ride home and there was a big blow up that happened because of seat belt arrangements and she was so furious absolutely so furious calling me you know all kinds of names um that i was a monster and doing terrible terrible things to her her child and i couldn't get a word and there was nothing i could do to relieve her pain or to make her think otherwise that i was making a decision that i thought was the best you know decision that i could do in that with what i had in that moment um so with that what i'm saying is um to everyone who's listening um that throwing sticks or words at
someone when you don't agree with somebody somebody uh doesn't do any of us any any good and i'm sure it makes your guys's job a whole lot harder and have a lot more on your plate to do um i am absolutely um it's so hard for me to come to this meeting and to stand and and see all the masks on the kids and things like that um it's uh it's hard for me to drop my son off every day at school like that and um i just know that this this beast that we are working with within the school system has been been here and when we when we throw words and and we try to fight the beast it's not going to do us any any good um so if we all want
to stand and stand together and make a difference and create new things for our children that's what i'm wanting to connect with more people um about how we can stand together leaving trying to reach out to several people that were here last week and didn't get a reply so i'd love to connect with more people about how we can um make decisions where we where we aren't just poking the beast who has been here for a long time and he's not going anywhere it's not going anywhere um at least not if we just keep making it more angry so thank you very much thank you thank you you're a beautiful baby thank you no applause please we're gonna thank you so much kaylee uh papa lika and i apologize if i did not say that
correctly oh sorry robin papalika robin is she online will you check and see if she's online kyle i know that she called the district and i'm sure i do not see that name okay all right i have uh berget paul forget v-i-r-g-i-t-t forget paul will you please check online i'm sure i don't see that anymore don't tell them how to raise their hand oh on the if you're on the phone do you have a phone on do you have anyone on the phone i don't see any phone numbers if somebody happens to be under a name it'd be star nine okay if they are under something else you can get star nine on your phone to unmute okay wendy bulk sure do not see that name uh if you're online please raise your hand please
raise your hand yep sorry thank you alicia greene alicia green that's very good thank you hello my name is alicia green i felt unsettled after the last school board meeting as there were many biased opinions with what the health care professional said everyone spoke in favor of the mass but not one per not one provided a cited statistic or said what the pre-mask mandate crmc coveted numbers are versus what they are now that children are forced to wear masks one provider used to use an extreme case of fear-mongering by stating that wives are killing husbands by unknowingly giving them covet ma'am that is happening whether or not kids are wearing masks in school this is an inappropriate statement when used in context to children's actions during a pandemic we have to quit putting the responsibility
of saving lives on kids also i was in your office a week prior and your receptionists were not wearing masks your nurses and other providers had spaces to do their charts without a mask on and i did not wear a mask like another patient wasn't i get extreme anxiety and took it off to get my blood drawn and check out so i could breathe through my anxiety children get anxiety as well but are not able to have the body autonomy to take the mass off and breathe a frontline worker at crmc confirmed there is not and has not been a local hospitalized patient for covid under the age of 30 in over a year which proves we are requiring children to risk their breathing academic and social success for adults who have the body autonomy
to choose to protect themselves however they see fit professor dr mckay at the john hopkins school of medicine says special attention should be paid to the many children who struggle with mass public health officials claim to base their decisions and guidance on science but there is no science behind mass mandates for children i was planning on speaking of the anxiety face coverings caused children but as i was researching an alarming subject kept getting brought up what's actually on worn mass at the end of the day i found many different studies i put two in the basket but only have time to speak on the one done in florida five or six face masks that were worn just one day were tested positive with 11 different pathogens a t-shirt of one of the mask wearers was
also tested and it did not have any of the pathogens mouths are gross we should keep germs away from them not wear something that collects germs and keeps it there for us to breathe in all day what about the kids whose parents don't switch out their mass daily or wash them at one point we realize this is causing more harm than good at what point you say the side effect of the marginal at best and inconclusive unstudied cure is worse as john tierney said social distancing and masks hinder learning while harming children emotionally socially and physically all for no purpose other than providing false comfort for adults who ought to know better thank you if we could just please i really want to get through everyone so we just need to follow the rules no
applause and either side aaron wits thank you this was the meaning that you were going to have a spelling test on that remember yes yes thank you my name is aaron waskowitz i'm a parent in the district and i also remember represent laramie county moms for liberty there is something very wrong in this room there's a problem that needs to be fixed what exactly is the problem who's to blame and more importantly how do we fix it there's always more than one side to every problem i think the problem here is a power struggle and a major lack of respect some people might think yes these freedom-loving crazy parents have no idea what's good for their own children and clearly don't care about the safety of others they're selfish they don't follow science why can't
they just sit down and let the board do their job the more they talk the less i as a board member feel respected another group might say the people in power are just tyrants who want to control their medical my child's medical decisions and they have no right to do so they're making mandates that are tied to federal dollars and don't care about my child's mental and emotional health they talk about transparency but then create a bogus speaking list that no one can see and people fall out of and then we waste everyone's time they clearly don't respect me as a parent now on one hand there have been accusations of violent behavior and meeting at meetings and toward board members on the other hand parents are not spoken to as human beings instead we
are told that you can't talk to us at these meetings i'm not sure where that supposed rule comes from because there are other school boards in the state that talk to the meeting attendees during the meeting again the problem is a power struggle and a major lack of respect so who's to blame is it the school board is it the parents because surely there's someone specific to blame one size side must be an ascent one side guilty that's what we like to do in our society place blame there's distrust in this room this is a relationship gone very badly finally and most importantly how do we fix the problem can we fix it do we want to fix it you didn't get elected by being stupid you all are very accomplished and intelligent individuals as
are the parents in this district we've asked for dialogue we've asked questions as we should when it comes to our children we've asked for reasons other than because that agency told us to there's clearly a problem here we continue to have one-sided communication and that never works in anything in life i could be wrong but i don't think these parents are going anywhere it would be nice if the real problems could be addressed instead of going through the motions at these meetings maybe you need a special session to brainstorm ideas on how to better your relationships really want to do this i will not tolerate it please heather smith hold your applause and we'll get through everyone you can say exactly what you want please heather smith hello my name is heather smith and um
let's see last friday there was a survey at the school the um obey us survey for kids bullying so that survey is given every year my son is in sixth grade i picked him up from school he sat in the car and he said oh it's different this year they were asking more gender questions so i called the school and asked oh can i get one of the copies went down to the administration building talked to a guy named chris he gave me a copy of the survey on the back it said 2007. so i handed it to my son and he said this is not the same survey that i took today that's different some of the questions are the same so i called up his best friend and we went over there and
i gave the test to him too and he said the exact same thing this is not the same test there was gender questions in here so um the mom and i we called chris and he didn't know what we were talking about so i am here to address that i really hope there's transparency with this we don't know how we can see this survey because it is electronic given to these kids and we were given a paper copy so i wanted to bring that to everybody's attention tonight to see if we could find out what the real survey is um also my son is at meadowlark like i said and his him and his friends they are getting tired of showing up to school because they feel like it is such a hostile environment they
are constantly getting in trouble over their mask they run to get in line if they don't pull their mask up fast enough they actually lose recess this has happened to him the next day it happened to his friend another day his friend was sitting there at the table at the lunch table and he spilled his juice he reached over to grab his friend's napkin and was yelled at not to grab the napkin he said well can i get up and get a napkin no you cannot get a napkin she told the para told him use your hand to wipe up the spill of course he did not so she said go to the janitor and get a cleaning rag and then she made him stay after and wipe down all of the tables and he
asked well why are you wearing a glove and why do i not have a glove she said i don't like the chemicals that are on that rag so these things are happening and these kids are getting tired of it and i want to bring it to everybody's attention that i don't think this is the environment that they should be put in just because we're forcing them to wear a mask can we not have some compassion for these kids can we not treat them a little bit different can we not scream and yell at them in the hall to put up their masks when they're just kids i don't think this is what these kids want to remember when they get older thank i really want to hear what you have to say hello um following
up with what heather said regarding the masks i just want to bring to the attention of all the board members the word hypocrite as we all walked in we all see signs that say mass required no exceptions but when i came to this building on friday there were no employees that i saw walking down the halls with masks yet you require our children and some of your employees that are don't agree with the mass to wear them all day every day so why is it okay for you here at this admin building to make that decision for yourself and have that as a choice when you're not allowing our kids to make that choice thank you please julia espinoza final julia is she online sometimes she's online i'm here thank you julia thank you thank
you madam chair in the october 2021 edition of the public schools chronicle it was stated that wit wisdom is a comprehensive core reading curriculum exposing students to quote high quality content in the areas of reading writing and phonics no that is not true written wisdom does not provide a content of phonics i've spoken with great minds personally in the past and great minds called and read a prepared statement that says wit wisdom does not provide a phonics component and that lcsd1 has to provide their own phonics component is this just another falsehood by lcsd1 or is this incompetence within the administration who doesn't understand what garbage their they've purchased however written wisdom does have a content that promotes crt as i found on the great mind website in their blog section dated may 20th 2021
in which jennifer taylor an employee of great minds wrote the following article titled principal values wit wisdom as part of her school's approach to addressing racism if that's not enough to raise some eyebrows the first three paragraphs of this article should frighten parents here goes under the leadership of principal julissa lambert yank acorn woodland elementary school in oakland california is using the whit and wisdom english language arts curriculum as an important part of an anti-racist approach to education she appreciates that written wisdom is a knowledge rich curriculum that offers diverse perspectives and teaches students to dig deeply into big ideas and become more analytical which in turn will help them identify confront and combat racism when they encounter it she wants her students to develop resilience to feel powerful and to acquire the knowledge they
need to be quote prepared to attack and interrupt racial disparity end quote quote if i want my students to fight systemic racism then i want them to have the forethought to use the knowledge they gain in school against it after that passage i challenge the board to tell parents that witten wisdom does not teach crt but the board and administration will defend the blog because lcsd1 signed a contract with a restrictive covenant that does not allow lcsd1 to engage in any action that tends to disparage dilute the value of or reflect negatively on the product services or trademarks of great minds also parents are told they can work with their child's teachers and swap out books that are inappropriate for the student i challenge lcsd-1 teachers to swap out a book that a parent doesn't
want with a book from brave books dot u s i am sure because of the conservative nature of brave books use of these books will be in breach of the contract and be prohibited by administration finally when it comes to witten wisdom the board needs to stop stonewalling the public do some serious self-reflection acquire some grit and do right by the parents thank you thanks johnson janelle johnson is she online madam chair i do not see that name online susan graham my name is susan graham and i'm glad to be able to be here with you trustees uh just to review some of the information you've already gotten but as a reference point a human hair is a hundred micrometers a virus is one thousand times smaller both flu viruses and coronavirus are about 0.12
microns and we all know masks have larger pores than any of that so if anyone is interested in a great science project you might look at what south korea did the scientists there had people cough into petri dishes some of the people wore cloth masks some of the people wore surgical masks and some of the people wore no masks at all and what the conclusion of that scientific experiment was was that there was no difference in the virus growth no matter what the person was wearing or not masks do not control viruses where do you think the air goes when you're wearing a mask and you sneeze or cough the change in air pressure accelerates the air which contains a virus and other particles that go right through the mass surgical or cloth and out
the sides of the mask masks do not control particle flow what do masks control normal respiration rates about 12 16 times a minute that causes condensation and moisture moisture is trapped in your mask mask controls moisture not getting out of your mask masks also control the temperature to 98.6 degrees fahrenheit which is a great breeding ground as a previous speaker pronounced for bacteria also it changes the ph in your mouth any dentist will tell you there's a great rise in gingivitis gum disease as well as cavities because we are now breeding poor bacteria in our mouths because the ph is now acidic rather than basic all right let's see in actual science data leads to conclusions if you're searching for objective truth using logic deductive reasoning i request that you convene reputable experts from various
disciplines and have them debate the issue in your presence and then you can make a rational decision based on scientific facts and deductive reasoning masks don't control viruses masks control you and you're using this medical device without the informed consent of parents to control them and their children thank you yep you guys are doing great amy fitch please please work with me amy fitch okay how would you take her spot for now because you're right after he she is would that work and we'll just swap you too how about that thank you go ahead so go ahead and state your name and joshua thank you thank you joshua fitch madam chair and trustees i would like to first address the presence of the shine police department officers in the room they're being used inappropriately to
show my first amendment rights of free speech this fight is recognized not granted recognized by the u.s and wyoming constitutions for the specific purpose of addressing my elected representatives for grievances there's no violence here i thank the police for the lawful things that they do i invite them to lead trustees i believe that this is where liberty lives or dies not the grand stage in d.c but here it is the county sheriff's school board city councils county commissioners mayors and governors so you won't be rid of me but what they but that being said we have areas we can find common ground i i notice when you take the time to write down the things i say like you just did uh while we may disagree with how to get there i believe many of
you want was absolutely best for our children i don't hate anyone here no one i don't have public or private names for you other than trustee or board member or madam chair i know you have other names that you call me that's okay you've just been deceived this virus is real it was weaponized by the ccp in conjunction with members of our own government reference to public release by our own state department but the response to this virus is tyranny you've been lied to by the cdc they reported data one way for 17 years and switch with cova to create fear your data for your decisions is flawed you've been lied to by your government hundreds of your own congresswoman and men and families and staff have been treated within vermectin and gotten better without
hospitalization there are other and better protocols to save lives you've been lied to by other nations the who and cdc supported an effort in india that took a 230 million citizen state with over 300 000 coveted cases within three weeks had a 99 reduction in cases this was done with invermectin dioxycycline and vitamin d and tylenol at 2.65 cents a kit not a thirty one hundred dollar run of rem deserved with a twenty percent chance of killing you and people didn't have to get sick the vaccine is killed a minimum of forty eight thousand four hundred and sixty five american citizens within 14 days of receiving this has been hidden from you the supreme court case the doctor mentioned last meeting on the short term curtailing of liberty had a word he said that didn't
hear he mentioned reasonable we have long left reason behind that same doctor said our cases are dropping don't stop masks what possible control group or study could he have used to make a random correlation like that that's not science you must stop curtailing things you have no right to curtail many of the doctors and nurses at the last meeting said if we only could see the death we would understand the curtailing of liberty i've seen death i watched my daughter die this year i've held my mother as she died for weeks slowly drowning i've had my friend torn apart by hot steel and watched it i've held down my friends screaming as they were sewn back together i've gone through body after body trying to determine their gender after they were tortured to death you
have no commodity on death here but in our republic our elected leaders don't use fear to make bad decisions they stare down fear of courage and fulfill their oaths i ask you to do that and please step back from these mandates and allow parental choice thank you very much for your time thank you amy amy amy you guys i am really begging you at this point i'm i need you to just hold your applause we'll get everybody in amy please yes do you need a minute and i we can yeah hold on i'm good it's been an emotional weekend uh we showed some of his friends some things from her daughter dying in march um and it's okay it's just um uh anyway talk about manage my mom couldn't even be there so that's cool
um okay my name is amy fitch and tonight i just want to show a couple reasons why there's a mistrust for the experts that are guiding us through this sickness and why i believe that the school board should again bring up for a vote masking in schools and the quarantine procedures sorry here's a couple of examples two weeks to flatten the curve masks don't work masks do work double masks are the best protection vaccinated people don't have to wear masks baskin vaccinated people do have to wear masks vaccinated people don't spread the virus but they do spread the virus natural immunity is not effective but natural media is more effective than that of the vaccine outdoor gatherings are safe even outdoors people should be masked the cdc has ever changed how it reported data for
the last 17 years which has also caused a mistrust of this data so i'm reading from a report that we will link to you in an email according to the cdc on august 23 2020 for six percent of the deaths covet 19 was the only cause mentioned for deaths with conditions or causes in addition to covet 19 on average there were 2.6 additional conditions or causes per death for a nation tormented by restrictive public health policies mandated for healthy sorry it does cause a torment okay this is the most important statistical revelation of this crisis this revelation significantly impacts the published fatalities count but more importantly it exposes a major problem with that process by which the cdc was able to generate inaccurate data during a crisis i'll link this to you because i know
i'm going to have to cut it a little bit here but i wanted to finish with our own slogan for wyoming that i've seen all over our billboards for now not forever i want to ask the school board members are you prepared for forever because i'm asking the question if not now then when when will this state of emergency ever end will it be the next baby that we have to go into the hospital and not have my mom there with me will i be alone birthing this baby i'm imploring the board to bring to vote again the masking and quarantine policy i'm not asking for you to take away the right for other people to choose masks i'm not asking for you to make people stay in school if they feel they should quarantine
i'm almost done i'm sorry and i am absolutely not advocating that people shouldn't get vaccinated they can do all those things now and they can continue to do them even without the mandates in place so i'm asking that you boldly vote for choice on these issues before just for now becomes forever thank you amy thank you addison walters dalton orchest we have are you addison okay let's yeah let's get you if you could help them right there today i want to tell you how i am treated due to my medical mask exemption at lunch i have to sit at a table by myself and not with my friends today mr bear dismissed all the tables but forgot about me at recess i have to stay six feet away from my friends and everyone has a
mask off at lunch and recess at library everyone other than me could see this story on the smart board and the librarian stood in front of me and then i couldn't see at all then the librarian told the computer teacher to come over by me and the librarian pointed to me and said look at our latest and i was placed at the back of the classroom where i can could barely see and people were saying six feet six feet and last somebody called me corona i just want to be treated like the other kid students at davis thank you adelson you guys did a good job thank you all right thank you orcat dalton michelle hayes [Music] hi i'm michelle hayes um so i have stacy with me she's gonna talk next okay so my
ten-year-old daughter has a massive exemption for masts due to migraines the process of obtaining the exemption was a joke the policy that this board approved is unacceptable the form that needed filled out change while we were at her doctor's appointment and we were told the one we had would not be accepted i submitted the exemption on a friday it was wednesday morning before it was approved this board does not have the right to deny a medical exemption you can verify the fact that a medical professional signed it but that should not take you guys three days stacy is now facing discrimination at school because of the policies that you have not only created but approved her teacher and principal are being forced to discriminate because of a policy that you created i am so thankful
for her teacher and principal for going above and beyond to help stacey feel included as much as they can without breaking the policy that you created and risk their jobs board policy chapter 1 section 4 states lcsd1 prohibits discrimination and or harassment on the basis of race color gender religion national origin disability age sex or any other basis protected by federal state or local law over two weeks ago i expressed my concerns to the superintendent and the board regarding the discrimination and the policy remains the same prior to march 2020 this type of discrimination never would have been allowed yet you guys have approved these policies and allow them that require discrimination within our schools against our kids each and every board member here voted to approve a policy that requires discrimination against kids our
kids have done absolutely nothing to deserve to be treated like this our kids have the right to education and you are discriminating against them because of a medical condition that prevents them from wearing masks the board first took away a parent's right to make health care decisions by forcing masks on our kids and now you're discriminating against our kids this is unacceptable all right go ahead sweetheart [Music] hello i am stacy hayes i go to school at prairie wind and i have an exemption and with the exemption i cannot sit next to my friends if i did i would have to wear a mask and i get headaches from the mask and those headaches got me sent home a lot last year i missed so much school and i and i would actually like to
sit next to my friends and i have no one to sit next to me so the only way i get help is from the a teacher and that's hard if i have 26 other kids in my class so it's hard to get her attention and it makes me feel blacked out thank you april france april krantz see if she's online please yes all right very good april yes can you hear me yes i can miss grant okay this is dr april krantz contrary to what you might be hearing about the insignificance of covid19 in our community it is still very real and it is still causing a serious strain on our hospital's resources i asked an er doctor and the head of the head nurse of the er this morning if they are still boarding
uh patients that means having to keep hospital patients in the er while they wait for hospital beds inside the main hospital because it's so full with cova patients and here's what they said quote the peak capacity of our er is 26 to 30 beds since august 10 to 15 of those beds every day are taken up by borders close quote this means that the er is only able to operate at one half to one third of its intended capacity and is thus having much longer wait times and potentially dangerous delays in the delivery of emergency care quote yes we are most certainly boarding we're low on staff and this really hurts us both mentally and physically all of us providers have been seeing patients literally literally in the waiting room that means i have to
excuse me i've admitted patients to hospitals from from hot to hospitalists from triage who are borderline critically ill if my techs and nurses are tied up carrying out orders on hospital patients they aren't available to treat everyone else it also means we have to close entire sections of the er i'm sure it's upsetting for patients to have to stay down here like i get it about the school masks someone's kid probably not probably won't get that sick from covid but that's not the point the point is for the common good and not to kill grandma until they're vaccinated this is the best thing i admitted i don't believe in changing my treatment based on someone's choices even if i disagree with them emergency medicine is about treating anyone anytime anywhere i don't need people thanking
health care workers or banging on pots and pans i do request their discipline and respect for my already strained staff and colleagues wearing a mask is not that hard calling a family member at 3 47 a.m who by the way is not allowed to see their covet positive loved one until their final hours or sometimes even minutes calling to tell them that that person has just been intubated that is very hard also my four-year-old nephew throws a mask on reflexively no he's not gonna have a seizure because he wore a mask yes he seems fine he likes tonka trucks dinosaurs and riding his bike i don't think he's going to have ptsd from a mask his main complaints include not enough ice cream turning off the tv and bedtime close quote any increase in community
transmission brought on by relaxation of the universal mask mandate in our schools can only make this already bad situation in our hospital worse please continue to hold strong and continue to protect our community by keeping everyone masked in our schools thank you amanda angel thank you amanda angel hi my name is amanda angel um i just want to read an email that i sent you guys on thursday at my lunch break i sent this email to you guys and i have not heard back um so it says good afternoon board members i have never written you although i've spoken a few times at board meetings regard regarding my concerns on the smart start plan in national immunity i came across this article i wanted to share it with you these north carolina school board members
had enough courage to stand up and allow parents to provide the level of chris you're willing to take and i put that word right it shows earlier that you said you didn't need a treat and that's why you didn't i just need to somebody's still online unmuted so he's just taking care of that so we can hear you better thank you go ahead can i have a little bit more time yes um so i put the word risk in quotations because it is so very very low for children um i challenge you to find out what the actual numbers are for crmc for laramie county for the number of hospitalizations from pediatric patients and the number of patients we have had to transfer out please do it i could not find the data today i
couldn't find it anywhere i called the health department i called laramie county and they said wow that's a good question let me finish my email i if mass work why don't they work if vaccines work why don't they work wear masks get a vaccine do whatever makes you feel safe but do not impose your will on us on me or my family this is why parents are upset and will continue to go to every single school board until you realize that parent it is a parent's responsibility to choose the level of risk that they want to take for their own kids no school board member no health department no other city state federal government entity has the right to tell me what to do as a parent please have enough courage and open-mindedness to honestly
look at the data and make rational decisions so in this and i'll drop off this article so you guys can look through it um but what measures are we using to determine why we mask up our kids what i want an answer to that we deserve an answer to that if you look at your data from last week on your covet dashboard friday two two people tested positive thursday eight people wednesday eight people tuesday we had a high of 13. monday we had a highest we had six so if we look at collectively the highest we have had is 29 people tested positive if you take that 29 and divide it into just under 20 100 people that we have between students and staff members we have a .013 positivity rate think about that why
are we doing this what are the metrics we want answers if we go to the i i mentioned the laramie county health department they haven't updated their their guidance since april april the laramie county health department if you go to the state the state's data is inaccurate if you go to social media posts for crmc public knowledge if you go to their posts their posts they're saying that there is eight fully vaccinated hospitalizations since may 1st since september 8th we have had 42 breakthrough cases at crmc public data social media posts and that's missing two weeks worth of data on the 27th of september and the third of october i'm not making up this number these this is the data that's out there i think you're expired thank you very much um amanda andrew please
andrew rose andrew rose he might be online if you can see you can go ahead yep okay thanks yep can you guys hear me yes yeah thank you um my name is andrew rose i'm a pediatrician at the train children's clinic um and i'd just like to say first of all thank you for um hearing me out again i i spoke at the board meeting before the school year started and um i was optimistic that we could start the school year off on the right foot and um basically have a year much like last year and it turns out that uh by even the three weeks that we or two or three weeks that we spent without masks i'm afraid that we already got sort of behind the eight ball as it seems um we
are seeing an exorbitant amount of rsv cases which is a um basically viral pneumonia in young kids we are seeing lots more sick kids probably um you know at least two or three times more sick children this year than we did last year finally the numbers are starting to trickle down a little bit but um for the last month we have been basically suffering more because of basically a very obvious um lack of protection and safety how we started the school year so i want to commend those you on the school board for doing the right thing and having our kids in mass now but um a couple things i'd like to bring up listening to the comments today one one thing one person mentioned that there's been no person under the age of 30
hospitalized because that's frankly not true um in fact uh several kids have been hospitalized just in recent weeks i took care of some over the weekend um and you know we just because you hear things from a friend or you read something on the internet does not make it true i want to just point that out to folks that um there are really hard working people much like was mentioned earlier in our emergency room um in our clinics and we're trying to get things safe for everyone and especially for those folks who are at the most risk kids are not at the highest risk of being the most safe uh or the most sick however they are getting sick and we have had to transfer some of these to denver to get further care now
kids also having pathogens in their mouth and the fact that they are having more there's evidence that they're getting sick because of these passage pathogens that's also on masks that is again a falsehood that normal bacteria yes or in our mouths and that's what these maybe they're quoting from bacterial things but it's not making them sick those are normal bacteria that live in our mouths um this is about community spread this is about how those viral particles that do get blocked by mass and we don't want the evidence is obvious just in how much less cases there are this last year compared to the times before um and we've not been lied to about vaccine safety either a vaccine causing some absurd number of deaths which is not true instead the coded vaccines are the
most closely monitored any prior vaccines we have and they've been proven safe in the next few weeks the fda and the cdc will also review vaccines for kids and so i think there may be an end in sight for those kids who seem to struggle with mass getting them and the majority of kids vaccinated will help to end the pandemic but until then we need to keep them and our communities safe thank you um kyle could you check the lit on the online to see if any of those individuals did you answer them okay so the other individuals that that's the only way that they would be able to be here um so we don't have to go through that so that concludes our public comment for tonight um go ahead dr weeder's fun madam
chair i moved to go into executive session at this time prior to adjournment for the purpose of possible student long term suspension expulsion and potential litigation second all in favor say i
