001Good evening. Welcome to the San Marino Unified School District Board of Education meeting. Today is January 13, 2026. Here's our board president, Francesca Gil. >> Good evening, everyone. Um, first I'd like to do a report of our close session. The board took an action in close session to reject the claim submitted by Michael J. Rizzo and to send the appropriate notice to the claimant. vote was unanimous. And now I'd like to open the regular open session. Like to come to order at 7:05 p.m. Roll call. Uh Mr. Chang >> here. >> Mr. Sun >> here. >> Miss Lamb >> here. >> Mrs. Ryan >> present. >> Mrs. Gil here. And student board member Burke >> here. Now, I'd like to turn it over to Dr. Lennena Richtor to introduce our student leading us in the

002pledge of allegiance. >> Thank you, President Gil. Tonight, it is our honor to invite Lauren Foresight, a fifth grade amazing Valentine Viking, also a former fall student council member to lead the board to the salute to the flag and share a little bit about herself and her school and introduce any guests that she has here with her tonight. Lauren, please join us at the podium and thank you for being here. >> Good evening. I'd like to extend a warm welcome to Superintendent Dr. Dea Tori, board president Gil, distinguished board members, the executive team, and all those in attendance tonight. My name is Lauren Forsight and I'm a fifth grade Viking at Valentine Elementary School. I am joined here by my principal, Mrs. McAlpine, my teacher, Mr. Dunaway, and my family. I've been attending Valentine for

0035 years. As a fifth grader, I am so proud to serve on our student council. On the student council, we have been working on picking up trash around our campus, keeping it beautiful for all students to enjoy. We also organized a food drive for our community in November and a pajama drive for our community in December. students donated kids pajamas and baby blankets and together we made a donation of 178 items. Community service is such a great way for our students to increase empathy, develop better social emotional skills like compassion and responsibility and develop an understanding that even kids can make a positive impact. Another way I am proud to serve my Valentine Vikings is in the new club I started this year called the HeartHelpers Club. I started this club to make our school

004a welcoming place for everyone of all ages. The purpose of this club is to build a stronger, kinder, and more connected school community. Fourth and fifth grade student members serve as positive role models and mentors, helping their peers during recess and lunchtime. Some of our responsibilities include assisting students re at recess who may be experiencing a problem, listening and providing support when students just need to talk, and mentorship opportunities with younger students. This club is always active at at recess, making sure everyone is included, having fun, and playing safe. Our club meets once a month to reflect on our experiences, identifying areas where students need support and build our skills to help solve problems. I'm excited to announce that we'll be going into classrooms and handing out heart slips to deserving students near the end

005of January. Kids can earn heart slips by being helpful, empathetic, accepting, respectful, and trustworthy, which makes up our acronym of heart. Some events that the Vikings enjoyed in the fall were the Halloween parade, the book fair during parent conference week, and the Veterans Day assembly. I even got to honor my grandpa for his service. The field trips the fifth graders are looking for forward to are Arts Rock this Friday at the San Marino High School, Griffith Observatory, and all the end of year activities. There are so many amazing events that the Vikings can't wait to explore. Tonight, as I welcome you to the San Marino Unified School District board meeting, I'd like to pay respect to our country and our flag. Please join us as we recite the pledge of allegiance. Please stand quietly and

006respectfully. Put your right hand over your heart. Ready, begin. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Thank you so much, Lauren. >> Lauren, I'm gonna ask you to come and stand here so we can take a photog board of education. In addition, I'm going to be presenting you with a certification for being here and doing such an outstanding job of education and our executive team on your experiences as a student at Valentine and the club that you have created sounds absolutely wonderful and I'm so proud of the work that you're doing on making all students feel connected. It's really important work and the social emotional wellbeing is really important and

007so um you are articulate and dynamic and you did not miss a single beat presenting this information to us which is exemplary in terms of your speaking skills I'm sure of education You can take this photograph and then we take this one and teacher. >> Oh, I'm sorry. and teacher. One, two, three. Angel. Thank you. Thank you. Okay. Approval of agenda. Do I have a motion to approve the agenda? >> Move to approve. >> Have a second. >> Second. >> Roll call. Mr. Chang. >> I. >> Mr. Sun. >> I. >> Miss. Lamb. >> I. >> Mrs. Ryan. >> I. >> Mrs. Gil. I. And Mr. B. >> Approval of minutes. Uh, do I have a motion to approve the 12925 meeting minutes? >> So moved. Do >> I have a second? >> Second. >>

008Um, roll call. Mr. Chang, >> I. >> Mr. Sun. >> Hi. >> Miss Lamb. >> I. >> Mrs. Brian. >> I. >> Mrs. Gill. I. And Mr. Burke. >> Hi. >> Great. Section seven, public comment. We ask that each board member take no more than three minutes to share their communications. Uh Mr. Chen, would you like to start? >> Uh first of all, happy new year and we we have another new year coming soon. Uh last Thursday I attend the subcommittee uh bang committee uh with four president. Uh so [clears throat] the they update about the uh the the

011phase one uh what in in term of the bid and also the the project I think in later in the action item and also information item. So the the B they will have a major mang update. Yeah. Thank you. >> Thank you Mr. Sun. Happy new year everybody too and uh we had the hope everybody has a great vacation too in winter and uh I I get a chance to get going to the PTA affiliated party is that the new year party it was it was amazing and I'm kind of surprised that how many the more seniors shows up there that when they don't have the direct kids in there but they still care about the schools and they're willing to show PTF appreciated. I really appreciate the whole crowd and you know it was

012really great experience for me. I think we're gonna have a great start in this school year. So I heard a lot of great news from Linda. So thank you so much and that's my communication. Thank you. >> Thank you Miss L. >> Happy new year everyone. I hope everyone's off to a great start for 2026. I'm especially happy to see my kids back in school. um me and all the parents because uh so many so many parents have these giant smiles just sending their kids off because we're dropping them off. Um great break. I hope everyone also had a great break and I'm looking forward to all that 2026 has in store for the San Marino community. >> Thank you. >> This is Brian. >> Thank you. So um during from December um I continue

013to volunteer at the Asian Youth Center. Um high need in terms of uh food and um as the weather got cold, lots of um blankets and things. Uh attended a lot of holiday parties. Uh went up to Canada and surprisingly the weather reversed. When I went up there, it was dry and and cold, but it wasn't wet like it was here. And then, of course, uh when I came back, um I caught a really bad cold. And um some of the doctors that work the ER, and Mr. Chang will be very familiar with this. They said a lot of people came in not knowing what they had and it kind of moved from your nose to your throat to your chest. And so they got tested for everything from SARS to COVID to the flu.

014They tried with uh influenza A, then B, and they it it just was something that lingered and lingered. And so um a lot of my friends just said just stay home and rest because it's raining. Anyways, um with that, I want to um uh wish a great Lunar New Year celebration. And I know this Chinese club is having their festivities soon and so we look forward to partnering with them to celebrate and honor the the many um families in our community with the various holidays. >> Thank you. U my update is to wish everybody a happy new year. Welcome back. Um my family is just getting into the swing of things too. back to our regularly scheduled lives with uh sports, school, school board, volunteering. Um what's nice about going last is that you guys

015have pretty much outlined everything that I have attended and more. So, thank you to the board for that. I look forward to the February 7th Lacy Park um Lunar New Year celebration sponsored by the Chinese Club and uh the city. So, thank you. Hunter Chang is also here, our council member. Um, I am honored to be asked to speak and I look forward to doing that. So, thank you. Um, >> I'll write something for you in Chinese. >> So, you >> phonetically, please. >> Yes. >> Um, so with that, um, section B, uh, student board member Burke, >> thank you. Happy holidays, everyone. Um, I know you guys mentioned about the parents being That was definitely quite the opposite feel on campus. >> Definitely it was kind of one of gloom and exhaustion as it

016feels like everyone kind of needed a break from the break. Um but as activities on campus began to start up again, my classmates definitely started rolling into the rhythm as sport teams entered their highly anticipated rivalry week and other activities like the spring musical and arts rock are being prepped. Student spirits are slowly on the rise. This week marked the beginning of NWA testing as standardized testing is no one's favorite, especially second semester seniors. The threat of mandatory remedial home rooms definitely motivated my classmates to try the best. I would be remiss not to mention the success for different senior athletic teams. Girls soccer continued their undefeated season, beating both South Pass and Lockin. And boys basketball marked an important milestone in their history by winning away at South Pass for the first time since

0172021 and beating Lockinada at Lockin for the first time since 2013. Looking to the future, Samino will hold both its annual arts rock and hoop coming this Friday, showing our carbon Valentine fifth graders around during the day and later at night watching our girls and boys basketball take on Blair, but also watch choir, cheer, band, performing groups, etern. >> Yes. Thank you, Madam President, and members of the board. I would just like to provide a brief update on instructional leadership work um currently underway across the district as well as upcoming professional learning for district leadership. Under Dr. Richtor's um toutelage, our principles have engaged in a structured and consistent process to develop sight specific instructional scorecards. These scorecards clearly articulate each of our schools strengths areas for growth which Lena calls uh grows. So, it's

018slows, grows, and bold steps uh on this scorecard. These are are documents that are basically used internally um to aid in our work and are being able to review uh student data on a continual basis. This work provides a transparent and coherent framework for communicating both the successes and priorities improvement at every school site. Additionally, each principal has been directed to develop a comprehensive action plan focused specifically on CAS performance. While our district remains as one of the top performing school districts in the state of California, in keeping with the board of education's firm belief that it is important to continuously review student data, um it it is really important that we continue to do this to inform our decisions related to student interventions and supports. These plans uh were due this week and were

019formally excuse me last week and were formally presented during our principal meeting. Principles analyzed multiple years of sight specific data in English language arts, mathematics, um English language development and science with respect to cast. They identified strategic actions designed to sustain strong performance and drive improvement where needed. Each plan included clear timelines, accountability measures, and designated individuals responsible for implementation and monitoring of plans. Importantly, principles have engaged their instructional staff in this work by requiring every teacher to regularly review relevant data and develop their own site specific grade level action plans aligned with schoolwide priorities. I also emphasized the central role of the principal uh the instructional leader of the school site. Um and we have a renewed focus on frequent classroom observations in support of high quality instruction through feedback, coaching, and instructional support.

020Moving forward, principles will report on action plan progress at the beginning of each monthly principles meeting. And while our district consistently demonstrates strong academic outcomes, we remain fully committed to continuous improvement. Um is not our end point end point and we want to continue to strive for better on behalf of all students. Um and what we say is good is the enemy of better. So even though we are doing exceptionally well, we want to continue to sustain that and improve wherever and whenever we can on behalf of our students. And I'd also uh like to share with the board of education that um we have upcoming professional development for district leadership and uh following our January 27th board meeting, I will be attending the AXA uh superintendent symposium through January 30th. Additionally, uh the assistant

021superintendent and I will be attending the um the national education conference. >> Oh, I'm sorry, Dr. Linda Richtor. of educational services. Thank you for asking that question. Um and so uh we really are very interested in staying current on best practices, research and emerging trends in instructional leadership governance, fiscal stewardship and organizational effectiveness. Uh the learning gained will directly inform our strategic planning going forward and continuous improvement efforts across the district. Um when we are not here, we will assign leadership roles to Dr. and Dr. Choy, they will be in charge and we will inform our principles of the same. Also wanted to mention that our partnership with still very very strong. Um I met with our PTA presidents this morning and got uh updates for all of them. In addition, we had um a

022presentation that we delivered to PTA presidents on artificial intelligence and where we're at with the task force. So thank you Mr. for your contributions to that presentation and conversation. And um Mr. Flock Hong was there and as was our assistant superintendent of business services, Dr. Steven Choy. Um and one of the things that the Carver PTA president who also happens to be the San Marina Little President updated me on is that they have spent uh close to $4,000 on making improvements to our baseball fields. They're also um going to be making significant improvements to the softball field at San Marino High School. Um which is going to be a real advantage for the high school. Um we really need to make sure that our fields are compatible and um I will say that if you

023happen to visit Huntington Middle School um the improvements to both of those baseball fields are notable. Uh it's just absolutely amazing that we're able to partner with them and get this work done. Um and we're not spending money for that, but our students are so that is all for me. You're welcome. >> Okay. Item number 10, information items. Uh first up, the measure M update. I'd like to turn it over to Dr. Steven Jo. Thank you, President Gil, members of the board, student member Burke, cabinet, and the San Marino community. Uh, this evening, we are pleased to provide anotherformational update on Measure M. We have many updates on our early impact and major projects, including work performed over the winter break. Now, before CJ provides additional details, I'd like to note that our citizens bond

024oversight committee will meet again this Thursday at 5:00 pm here in the boardroom. And as our CBOC secretary sitting in our audience tonight, Mr. Brunett knows, one of the key roles of the committee is to review measure M expenditures. Um, at the upcoming meeting, the committee will receive project updates, preview an expenditure report, and provide feedback and questions regarding the details and formatting of that expenditure report. Additionally, as construction activity increases, the CBOC plans to incorporate visits to see some of the exciting measure M work in person. And in the spirit of transparency and clear communication, our public information officer, Miss Roshelle Meyer, distributed the first issue of the memo, Measure M newsletter on December 16th, which received very positive feedback from our community. We remain committed and will continue to keep our community informed

025by posting regular updates on the Measure M web page. With that, I'll now turn it over to CJ to share the latest news on our Measure M projects. >> Good evening, President Gil, members of the board, Superintendent Dr. Dwari. Thank you for this uh opportunity to provide an update on uh Measure M and our progress that we've made uh so far. Um starting off uh one of the things I wanted to highlight is just uh our phase one schedule detail for a lot of our projects. Um as you know we've started to uh begin the SQA process and and reach out to some of our SQA consultants uh which stands for the California Environmental Quality Control Quality Act. Um and as as we began talking to some of our SQA consultants, uh we became aware

026that of a study that was performed uh across the district, across the city uh by the city of San Marino uh that labeled uh three out of our four sites as potentially historic sites. Um with that study from 2020, we uh it adds a new element to our SQA SQA process. Um which would require us to perform a historical resources evaluation. Um so we as of this week we are starting that process. Uh that in this process they review all all of the buildings at each of our sites and determine the historical significance of that building. Um, it is expected to be a 12-week process to draft uh this document. Um, and as I'm mentioning this as we're on the schedule because during design, this is something that was not originally anticipated through design, but

027we are trying to work uh on all design aspects concurrently to uh eliminate any any delay uh to the design schedule. Um, right now it's it's really difficult to predict, but this whole process does add a 12-week uh deliverable to the design. [clears throat] Um, going on through, uh, you could see that, uh, our stadium restroom refresh project has a little star right at the start of 2026. And our three major projects are still in design at the beginning of 2026. So, I am going to uh move on to our major projects and then I'm going to end on our early impact projects and some of the work that we uh were able to accomplish over the winter break. Um starting first with our Valentine twostory classroom building. Uh we're continuing we're continuing to evaluate

028the evaluate the location of the building um in terms of easements and other site constraints. As you can see the uh on the right hand side of the campus there's a rather large easement where uh through some research and uh talking to talking to staff it looks like that used to be an actual street that passed through the campus. So with that being said there are quite a few large easements that really prevent us from uh locating the building on the right hand side. So at this time uh we're moving forward with the building located on the lefthand side. We do also think this will be a a aesthetically pleasing decision too because uh we have the two-story church building that is located right there as well. So with us having a two-story building uh

029it'll kind of block the backside of that building from our campus as well. um with some of the design considerations that we are taking uh given these easements these easements on the right hand side of the campus. If you guys remember from our facilities master plan um as part of our later phase 2 projects we had a MPR and kitchen or food services facilities that were originally going to be located on that right hand side of the campus. Um, with this information about the easements and uh those easements and the difficulty it will will have building in that area, we're asking our architect to look at some options of whether it's feasible to incorporate an MPR component and a food services component to the two-story building. Um we feel like this does uh align with

030our our uh our guidance on how we how we want to move forward with our projects in terms of constructing our high value projects early so that we save on escalation costs and um we are as I said we are right now uh working on providing an estimate to see what that might look like uh for future board review but uh given the information that we've we've learned As we're developing the site plan, uh it does look like we are um going to be locating that building on the lefthand side and we are looking at options to uh prevent future challenges in the MPR and food services construction down the road. Um with that with that being said, uh we are also separating uh the interim housing and we're beginning that process. So, we're trying

031to finalize the interim housing location from coordinating with the site. Right as of now, it looks like we will be needing three portable classrooms and uh one set of restrooms. So, our architect is uh working on incorporating those into the site plan so that we're able to uh begin and complete our interim housing this summer. Uh moving on to uh the Carver, TK, and kindergarten classrooms. our user group meetings have completed uh with positive feedback on on room layouts um flexible learning spaces and workroom spaces. So, a lot of a lot of these discussions with staff included uh these shared spaces in between the two classrooms. Um if you're familiar with TK and kindergarten classrooms, uh they're often joined together in pairs where they have uh shared restroom facilities, um workrooms, and flex spaces. Um

032in our user group meetings we discussed the availability of the restrooms to the exterior component uh exterior parts of our campus for recess and play and how that would interact uh in the classroom as well. Um it was also discussed the need for a flex space for each of each of the classrooms and a workroom space. Um through the through these discussions it was determined that a separate bank of restrooms for the playgrounds would be preferable to the uh in lie of using the classroom restrooms. [clears throat] Um the final site plan is being drafted right now and it should be completed by the end of this week. Um and as soon as I have that I will be sharing it with with the board for uh review and comment. And then uh last of

033our major phase one projects, we have the San Marino High School medical arts modernization. And uh with with both this campus and Valentine, I really we're really concentrating on future proofing these campuses. Um and through the feedback with the user groups, one of the things that has become abundantly clear is that there's a lack of uh square footage on the campus. um especially to accomplish some of our future more further out goals in terms of the gymnasium and the and the pool. Um with the building 300 being located adjacent to the gymnasium and the pool and us having growing enrollment and a need for additional classrooms, uh we started to explore an option for a twostory building um in lie of modernizing the existing building. Um the existing 300 building is actually split into two

034distinct buildings on a north and south side. Um through by doing a two-story building, you'll be able to reduce your interim housing and you'll also be able to open up quite a bit of area for a future gymnasium expansion or a pool. Um, as you know on this campus you are locked in on the north side due to these seismic fault lines and this is an option that allows us to have allows us to be able to expand our gymnasium in the future. Um, in addition, we are relocating uh the career center to the library and we have an agenda item on the agenda tonight to uh perform additional survey work at the library. Um so we're able to relocate that career center. In addition to the uh in addition to this this campus H

035Valentine we are uh finalizing our interim housing housing plan and uh we will be our initial plans are to locate interim housing on the very north basketball courts. Um, and we will be we are scheduled to be doing that this summer as well, starting and completing the interim housing. And then some of our additional uh or early impact projects, we have the Carver Elementary School and Valentine Elementary School playground replacements. So, we've reviewed all of the proposals that we've received uh from all of our vendors, which I I believe total to over 20 different playground resign designs. We reviewed that uh those designs with site administration and uh in our in our measure M board update meetings and we've we've reduced that number down to two uh two options for each campus. So, right now

036we're going to be taking these two options. we have to make some minor tweaks and then we'll be having uh the students provide feedback or vote on the option that they they would like to see implemented on their campus. Uh these projects are going to be implemented during this summer. We are incorporating that into the interim housing uh phase that will be submitted to DSA. Uh all of the options also include shade for the playgrounds as well. Uh next up we have our uh our roofing projects. And as some of you mentioned earlier, it was a very rainy winter break. So before the break started for these projects, what we what we did is we uh we ordered material ahead of time and we scheduled according to the weather. So, what we we had a

037pre-construction meeting the week before winter break where we were able to identify the weather patterns and that it was going to rain that following Wednesday. So, we coordinated to have materials and everything everything delivered on that the prior Saturday so that we're able to start work and complete it prior to the rains coming. Um once the rains did arrive, the buildings were um watertight and we only had minor punch list work that continued the next the following week. Um as of now, we just have a final walkthrough with the contractor and the those that roof replacement at Huntington Middle School is complete. At San Marino High School, we have the concessions restroom refresh. Um you could see on the lefth hand side that picture before and after. We're nearing completion of this project. We're expected

038to be completed at the end of next week. Um you can see that we have all new finishes that match the colors for the campus and it's much more um aesthetically inviting. With the heavy rains on this project, this block building, we did notice some water intrusion both from the block wall and from the roof structure itself. So, we're working on uh fixing those issues. uh the the seal coat that we will be putting on the exterior of the building, the the block to prevent water from um entering through the porest surface of the block will be uh able to be completed through our contingency. Um it essentially brings our contingency to having very little left, but I'm happy to say that we confirmed today it will not be a change order. So, we were

039able to uh capture that unexpected or unforeseen um issue and uh complete it during dollars. Uh in in addition to that, at San Marino High School, we've started our our uh fencing, our auditorium fencing and security fencing project. We've replaced all the temporary chain link fencing with permanent chain link fencing. And we're working on getting that uh temporary chain link fencing removed. And we've also started the fencing at the auditorium area where you can see in the picture on the right hand side. We had to remove some concrete work to create a um ADA accessible gate and we'll be putting an automatic gate uh for deliveries for food services um on that end of the campus as well. This was previously uh secured using temporary fencing and we did not have a permanent um permanent

040security uh fence in place. We are incorporating uh we're incorporating the infrastructure to have a automatic gate, a motorized gate that will be able to be be able to ba bad bad or buzz people in with badges. And we're we are incorporating a camera that will be able to automatically open the gate for approved license plate numbers as well. Um, and with that being said, uh, in terms of, uh, some of our RFQS we have coming up, we will be, uh, advertising our lease lease back, uh, RFQ next week. So, we're submitting the advertisement this week and, uh, we'll be collecting feedback from, uh, vendors from that point. [snorts] And I want to thank you for allowing me to present these updates for measure. If you have any questions, feel free. >> [snorts] >> I

041do have a question about the historical resource um >> report requirement. You said 12 weeks. So is there anything that we can do to mitigate that time loss at all? >> Um at this stage I don't like I I don't want to think of it as a time loss because we are going to be running everything concurrently. So there are quite a there's quite a bit of design that needs to h a lot of design that needs to happen on these projects still at this point. Um so we'll be running all of that concurrently. It's just uh it's hard to tell 12 weeks is a a large period of time. So it's hard to tell how long we'll be able to run all of those activities concurrently before we need this uh report completed. Um,

042right now I wouldn't I'm definitely not anticipating a 12week loss. Um, if anything it maybe more in the four six to four, more likely four range. But, uh, like I said, we'll be running everything concurrently and we we will still be um we will still be proceeding with interim housing. That's one of the reasons why I said we separated this into a separate phase so that we don't have to hold our DSA application for the interim housing um based on this study. So by getting that interim housing into DSA and approved, we'll be able to land those temporary facilities that we need for construction anyways. And then once we have uh the DSA drawings approved, we'll be able to immediately start construction. And you are allowed to put the temporary housing on the easement at

043Valentine. >> Uh the there are less constraints in terms of interim housing, but we have not finalized that site location right as of now. The the portables the portable classroom building buildings we have a lot more flexibility because they're they're reduced in size compared to the larger building. So we can we can work around the ement. >> You guys did a report of everything that's in the ground. >> Yeah. underground service >> big active pipes under there where the easement is or can they abandon the easement and we can just have it back? >> Um so even when we do the underground survey it doesn't necessarily tell us if it's active or not. Um it it so it's hard to tell it's hard to tell right now if they are active. I almost want to

044agree with you and assume that they might not be, but uh there's not there's not too much that we can really do in terms of getting out of the easement without legal uh assistance. >> Have legal assistance. if if that's a if that's a path >> if it really reduces the constraints for these projects. I mean, I think it's something worth looking into to see if it's needed anymore, but >> we we could definitely seek out uh legal legal's input to see if we can get the easements removed. >> Yeah. So it's that would be a longer term, right? But >> any other questions? >> Um can you you earlier mentioned no change order um and then you spoke about um using contingency money. >> Um explain the the two um >> soers of that

045expense because it is expense, right? whether you're calling them change order expense or a contingency money. >> Um so you set money aside um versus oh now we have this um just explain that to me a little bit. >> So so typically at the start of a project when we determine what the construction cost will be we add a 10% contingency that's usually allocated for unforeseen uh issues that can occur during construction. Uh very commonly in modernizations there are unforeseen issues that arise and that's typically what the contingency would be used for. Um in addition to that there can be uh owner directed items that the contingency is used for. But the most important part of that is it's held on the owner side um so that we are able to tackle those items and

046the contractor isn't able to spend it without authorization. and you don't have to pause a project and >> correct and so if you um are spending the contingency money um does every single project you then set aside more money more money more money? >> We we typically do 10% of the uh construction cost for each project. So um whatever's not used on the contingency is rolled back into bond funds or can be rolled into a future project. Most of the time on projects, we have a contingency savings and we're able to use that to fund uh other projects. >> Anyone else? >> Thank you. >> 11 action items. I would like to turn it over to Dr. Troy to present an agreement between San Marino Unified School District and can engineers for additional field topography

047and surveying services for updated work limits at San Maro High School. >> Thank you, President Gil, members of the board, cabinet, student member Burke. Item 11A is a request for board approval of an agreement with Atkin Engineers for additional surveying services at San Marino High School. And as we continue to work with San Marino High School and the architects during the design process, we identified an opportunity to relocate the career center to the current library location. And to evaluate this option, additional field topography and surveying work are required. The services are provided as a lumpsum proposal in the amount of $4,265. Uh this project will be funded using measure M funds. It is recommended that the board of education approve 11A as presented. You have any questions? >> I move to approve >> a second.

The scope of services include architectural, mechanical, electrical, and low voltage, structural, and limited civil engineering as needed and provides support through design, DSA approval, bidding, and construction administration. The estimated construction cost for the project is

0492.5 million with a proposed architectural and engineering fee of $277,500. This is to be funded using measure M funds. We also considered the operational costs associated with this project. I want to be clear that specifically we considered system performance, reliability, and overall gymnasium comfort while ensuring compliance with current code and ADA requirements.
