001Sorry. [laughter] Good afternoon everybody. Welcome to Saninian School District board meeting. I'd like to call this meeting to order. If we can please start off with roll call, please. >> Miss Cindy Lopez >> present. Miss Alvariano >> here. >> Mr. Jacob Sandaval >> here. >> Miss Sarah Turner and Mr. Neil Patel are not present this evening. Okay, let's please stand for the pledge of allegiance. >> Ready, begin. >> Aliance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with justice for all. >> Okay, we're going to move on to item 1.3, which is the approval of the board agenda. If I can please make it a motion to approve. >> Motion. >> Second. >> All those in favor? I >> I session

00230. >> Okay. Today on close session we have item 2.1 potential litigation of government code section 54956.8 public employee performance evaluation conference with labor negotiators under government code section 54957 and a student discipline matter under ED code 48918. Do we have any public comments regarding close session items? >> I do not. >> Okay. Can I get a motion to adjurnn the close session please? Motion to adjurnn close session. >> Second. All those in favor. I motion 30. just text. >> Okay. Good afternoon everybody. Welcome back to the Santa Rita Union School District Board meeting. During close session, the board reviewed student discipline matter 2025.01 and voted 3 to 0 to approve the stipulated expulsion agreements. We're going to move on to item 5.0, approval of consent agenda. Can I get a motion to approve items

0035.1 to 5.4? >> Motion to approve items. >> Second. >> All those in favor? >> I. >> Motion three zero. >> Okay. We're going to move on to reports and correspondence. Any comments submitted by SRTA? >> We do not. >> And how about CSEA? >> We do not. >> Okay. Moving on to the superintendent's cabinets. >> Okay. We're going to start with Melanie Grundy, our director of special education and student services. >> Perfect. I'll keep it short and sweet. Um today we had our all special education PLC. Um we focused on um progress monitoring and just making sure people are keeping up with their service logs and their medical billing, right? Documentation. And then also talked pretty extensively about documenting behaviors and just making sure that everything's documented the same way our general education team

004documents on on Aries. Um, our one nurse, cuz we're down a nurse right now, is still conducting vision and hearing across the district. So, huge shout out to Elizabeth Settleman for um doing that at each of our school sites. And then um we are down a couple of um team members. So, we're just working on covering services and making sure our services are going to be non-interrupted and keep going. So, and I'll be bringing some of those items to you tonight. So, that's it for for me. Thank you. >> Any questions or comments from the board? >> Okay. Thank you for the update. Okay. >> Our director of engagement and school climate, Dr. Summer Prather Smith. >> Good evening. Excuse me. Good evening. No handouts for you, but just a couple of updates. Um, we

005are really trying to make sure that our families are supported during the course of the government shutdown and while our families don't have access to SNAP benefits. Um, so working really closely with the food bank along with Dr. Donna Smith at MCOE who's been able to provide our liaison with some meal voucher cards or gift cards for um Safeway and some of our uh and Walmart that have like the no alcohol. There's specific ones we can do as well as upping our food distribution. Um we just did a produce distribution today at Sanorita Elementary. And then just regularly kind of checking in with our families that we know are most vulnerable during this time. Um we did start our afterchool meals for our ELOP across the district last week. So now all sites are serving

006dinner to students um in the ELOP program and then we were able to get everything set up to begin transportation for our u Mckennon MCCO program so that that student enrollment increased. That also started last week as well. Um I'm excited to report that the uh YMCA has fixed the swimming pool at uh what used to be the municipal pool. It's no longer the municipal, right? I don't know. I' call everything by what it used to be. So, we were able to reschedule our swim lessons that had to be cancelled due to the pool um heater being broken. So, those have been rescheduled to January. One set in January and then the second group will do theirs in April and May. So, January, February, and then April and May. Um it'll be the same families

007that originally signed up. We'll just reschedule them for that time, but we're happy to finally have a date for that. Um, I've been working with Elizabeth Similman as well to do a flu vaccine for our community as we go into flu season. The VNA received a grant and so we're going to be able to offer a free flu vaccine on November 30th from 11 to 1 at Sanorita Elementary where we'll host it from. Um, she'll also be bringing some COVID vaccine because we had about $430 after our 35 vaccines for flu um on that day as well. So, we'll be advertising that. And then just last, um I told Melissa, "No, I don't have that much now. I'm looking." Um just last, we were able to work with Victor as well as the city to

008designate the bus routes that will be put into place during the Bar closure, which is now or the Mckennon Mckennon closure. Um so that has now been kind of pushed to end of November, December time frame, which is great because that'll be at least partially during our winter break. Um but uh Victor created a route F which kind of goes through those wine streets and does the pickups there so that those students that would have a longer route um will be able to take the bus if they choose to. And based on the phone calls that the site made, it's about 75 students. >> When you say municipal, I had flashbacks of of swimming classes when I was like in fourth grade. Yeah. [laughter] >> Um what what part is being I know you might

009have told us what part is being closed on uh Rhonda and McKinnon? So, oh, sorry. Go ahead. >> Mckennon is being closed off not at the Mckennon side. So, the opposite side of the street. So, Mckennon all the way down to uh basically the Harden Parkway. >> Yeah. So, residents will have kind of ways in, but that whole intersection part will be there'll be no crossing the street. So, all of the folks who are on the wine streets would have to go wind through the inside and come out at Dartmouth. Let me so just to clarify those are normally the students who would just walk to McKenna. Um and it would make their walk longer than what by our board policy we like to have students walk. And so with everybody looking at it and

010transportation doing some centralized stops in that neighborhood that students instead of trying to walk to McKinnon in the roundabout sort of fashion that they'll have to um can just walk to those stops um and get picked up and have a bus ride. >> Thank you for clarify >> wait clarify for me. Yeah, >> it's going to be >> from Mckennon, >> not quite all the way to Harden Parkway. >> And that's going to be permanent. >> No, that's just during the this construction piece. So, they're anticipating it to be about two months of closure. >> Okay. >> Yeah. So, they're anticipating about two months of closure. It's while they do the next part of the roundabout. It's >> doing the off >> lanes and on lanes and so they're closing different sections as they do

011that. And you may have seen that they have already started working on the sidewalk on the other side. So just remember that instead of walking I I'm directionally challenged east north southwest. So instead of walking on the side where students have been walking now along that sidewalk right kind of the harden side students will now cross at Dartmouth and they'll walk on the low side but there will be a sidewalk. So where there's a low sidewalk right now that sidewalk will now continue all the way down to Mckennon. So students who were at the Dartmouth Apartments, for example, who used to walk down to Mckennon Street and then cross will now cross at Dartmouth. There's a crossing there and then walk >> against traffic but along that a sidewalk that'll be a permanent sidewalk. So

012for those students, it'll actually be kind of better. >> Yeah. summer with the um swimming classes that we're offering. Can you um remind me we're offering this as a um our students that are doing like this the summer academy like the academy like >> No, we put it out to all students. We put it out to everybody to sign up uh based on grade level. They only serve certain grades. So, it was like third third or fourth I can't remember is that that they can do. um we put it out and we had however many spots it was 65 spots for each session and then it we just told parents it was a first come first serve. >> Okay. So it's not something that we still have in the books like where we have partnered

013up or like let's say you're in fourth grade and this is you know something that we're going to do like other other of our our neighboring >> district. We can't that was our original plan. We can't do it that way because they're already booked with the other districts. So there was no spaces anymore. So the way that it was going to work out, so we were going to do it very similar to what Selena City does where all fourth graders go. Unfortunately, because those districts are much larger than ours, those spaces are not available. So the spaces we were going to get were going to be really challenging with time and instruction and getting kids to and from because we would basically have to fit in after their time slots finished. But we wanted our

014students to still have the experience. So that's why we moved it. Originally, we were going to do it connected to just Saturday Academy and kids could go to Saturday Academy and then go to swim lessons. Um, but we decided we wanted to expand it bigger than that. So, that's why we opened it up to anybody who can who wanted to participate within the slots we had, >> which is awesome. But is there any possibility, you know, in the future where you see that our district would also be involved the same way the other districts are? The reason why I'm asking is because I think swimming is a very important life skill, you know, and >> not everybody, like you say, you know, has the chance to to to go and, you know, pay for those

015classes or what not. So, >> um I know our neighbor some of our neighboring districts have that like >> would would there be any possibility for us to look into what we could do to make that happen in our district? Well, >> that's what I've been working on. The problem is their capacity. There's only the YMCA that we can use to do that and they only do that at the what used to be the municipal and so it's based on their capacity. In fact, there's a possibility that our other districts are actually going to move more towards our model under ELOP versus doing it for all fourth grade because it it's really challenging the way that you have to take kids in out because they can only see 30. It's like 35 30 two groups

016of 30. like 60 students in a at a time. So even if you're Los Elementary, for example, that's more than their fourth grade class. So they have to like take one group over, they they participate in their swim and then they take them back out. Um there's also been challenges around the fact that with locker rooms and staff supervising locker rooms, um versus this way, parents are doing that. So the the pool is closed to other participants. it'll only be our kids who are there on these Saturday swim lessons, but parents are taking them and supporting and supervising. Um, so I mean, we they know that we're interested in expanding what we do, but right now they don't necessarily have the capacity and I'm not positive with fitting it in with what's already set with

017the other districts unless they change it that we have the capacity to meet the slots that would be available. but they do know that we're interested. And this actually I mean the way that we have it set up now more students get access than they would if we did it the other way. Um it's it's not just so it's not just like one group of students. So we're giving more students the opportunity but it is not during their regular school day but they do know that we're interested in more. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Okay. Miss Becky Moore, our assistant superintendent of educational services. >> Thank you. Just a couple of things to share. Um we have been doing learning walks about once a week and so tomorrow we'll be at Gavlan View. Um starting

018at 8 8:15 in the morning. So that will be fun to see instruction there. Um we had negotiations today and for the last several weeks with CSEA and we are continuing to work collaboratively towards resolution of some of our um negotiated articles. Um, it looks like we are going to be able to finish within one or two more meetings. And so I really thank CSEA and their work in being prepared and productively using um the time that we have dedicated to negotiations. Feel like there was one other thing and I didn't write it down. So if I think of it, I will >> the learning walk 8:15 to let me close this to to 10:45. Okay. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Okay. Moving on to the board of the superintendent, Miss Ciney Lopez. Um the

019only thing I need have to report is um our event that we had um in Sanorita the our first um trunk or treat that we had um was awesome. It was so good. You you guys missed out. Um uh it was it was a really I mean it was a huge turnout. Um I want to take the time to thank our administrators there. both of them are doing a great job. Um I know that when I came on I had mentioned like that particular site of our district, you know, I wanted to see more of what our other schools had going on for those kids. And it I mean my heart was full that day. It was beautiful. The the parents came together. They had a beautiful alad with it was I mean >> it

020was really really really nice. The whole community was out there like >> I mean it was like what were all these like you know it was it was very very nice. So um I was >> I know winter Yes. I know winter wonderland's coming up as well and I mean December 18th. So, it's just awesome to see that we're starting to also, you know, bring to that school site things that our other sites have for these kiddos here. So, that's all I have to report back. >> Well, thank you for participating representing for us, [laughter] Miss Alariano. >> Yes. Um, I attended the curriculum council meeting. I think it was the 23rd of October or was this just last couple of weeks? I think it was. So anyway, so we started um I'm gonna get

021my notes because I took notes there at the curriculum meeting. But anyways, we are doing the mathematics framework. Becky sent gave us all some of these um and so we focused on the mathematics framework and along with the updated principles um to focus on coherence and rigor. So they the the standards map out what California students need to know in MA for math. So Becky facilitated and she um gave us numbers. we had to get into groups according to what number we are. And we discussed my portion um was the uh coherence and rigor which and and it's just each group afterwards once we read our portion we got together as a group and we discussed the the different highlights of the framework. Um I was with Sheila and I can't remember Isabelle and so

022that was the three of us and um so we we discussed our my portion what I noticed was um and what stood out for me was the learning across grade levels. That was one of the and I've brought that up so many times. So it's really it's called also the crossgrade level articulation but there are a lot of tools embedded in here that the teachers can follow and to make our kids more advanced in the in the math. So it was a really good um I love going to curriculum council. I mean, I've gotten to know everybody and it's um it was a great a good learning session. Very good learning session. So, I'm excited to see what we're going to do the next next one. And I'm sure we're going to still develop this.

023Yeah. So, and and like always, Becky was great at the facil facilitating this. So, and I also went to the awards ceremony at [clears throat] New Republic School um on the 7th. That was just this last Friday. And it was really nice. I was glad to see um and I mentioned this to Heather after the ceremony that there were a lot of children that got >> [clears throat] >> um awards for for different reasons, achievement, but the one that stood out for me was the perfect attendance. And I'm hoping that we get more kids to attend school because that is one of our biggest challenges that we've had in the district and every district. But um but it was a really neat Mrs. Vosler and Heather did a good job at presenting and also not

024clapping because it was a lot of kids. She was they were very aware of kids that have the the the sensory. Yes. So it was really nice. It was good. So >> perfect. Thank you and thank you for participating as well. >> Sure. >> Uh for myself I attended the facilities committee. I know there's going to be a report so I won't comment too much on there. Um Dr. Millis Alderman. >> Thank you. Um, real quick, Becky sent me a note. Um, on your trustee document for the events and committees and things, there is a tab for the learning walk so that um, you have those in advance and can plan ahead. Um, and it's uh, each location, the date and the time. And so Becky keeps that updated on our um, trustee document that

025you have. Okay. Uh it's a our Google doc or we just keep it just a a one-stop shop for when our committees are when the different things, but there's a tab at the bottom for learning walks. So, um as you may or may not have seen on our social media, Becky and I did our annual Halloween uh dress up um which I was really really tired when we woke up on Halloween because we had such an amazing time at the trunk or treat at Santaorita Elementary. It was fantastic. I can tell you now that uh Miss Kanig already started planning winter wonderland probably last year's winter wonderland. Um she did let me know that um she's again going to partner with Councilman's uh Andrew Sandoval to have a a movie um and so that was

026a big part of last year and so he's on board for helping out with that again this year and I'm sure it's going to be even bigger than than last year. And I'm I know already that Miss Kaning's planning next year's trunk retreat. She mentioned it at that trunk retreat. So, we're um excited to see what all she brings um to that. And then, of course, Becky and I dressed up um and went to all of our schools on Halloween, which is great fun for us. >> And we already picked our trunk or treat theme for next year, so we're going to start collecting now. >> Yeah. The our costume slayed. I'm like, I'm going home. I don't think that's gonna get any I'm not getting any cooler than that. Um, and so it was

027it was a lot of fun this year. >> Cool. Okay, we're going to move on to 7.1. Is there any public comments regarding non-aggenda items or agenda items? >> We do not have public comments this evening. >> Moving on to information discussion items. 8.1 discussion MCSBA Excellence in Education Awards recommendation. >> Okay. Um, I gave you all a handout just in case you wanted to refresh. This is a chance for if there are any organizations that are not already on the list that um we can suggest that over to our partners at the county um so that they make the list when we bring this back to you in December for you to choose your nominations. >> Okay. So we don't make the nominations yet. All right. Is there there's no organizations on my part.

028Anybody else from the board? >> Is there any organizations that you that are missing from there? there. Well, let me see if I can >> You can take a look. Take a few moments. Yeah. >> Um >> the trafficking. >> Um I do know that they have added um it is the Monterey County Rape Crisis Center and the human trafficking have made the list this year. >> Yes. I'm really hope something we get that voted in because I think it was uh the president of Monterey County Office of Ed, oh my gosh, I can't remember his name, but he came out in an article about trafficking and it was a really outstanding article that um he feels that Selenus kids are being trafficed And um so anyways um I [clears throat] want to I want

029to vote that one but that's for the next board meeting. >> Okay. Um 8.2 anotherformational item Daybreak Health Partnership. >> That's my item. Um I don't know if you remember but a few years ago we contracted we contracted with Kasolus which we still contract with which is a referral agency and then through Carololis we were also able to provide uh 50 students um direct therapeutic services. What we found is that because those therapeutic services could only service students ages 10 and above in the school setting um we just didn't get as much use out of it as we wanted. So, for this year, we chose to not renew our contract with um that part of Car Solace, which they contracted with Daybreak Health, and instead added the general education MCBH service um in place of

030that to make sure that our students were getting that in-person direct support. Now, California, sorry, I have something in my eye. Um now, California received a new grant and Caros Solace is contracted with under that grant to provide services to our school districts for free. So, this is a free of charge. That's why it's anformational item. um to our students. In addition to that, oh my goodness, something am I. In addition to that, they now are able because this will be homebased support um that we can refer our students directly to, they are able to serve students TK through 8th grade. Students under the age of 10 will be referred for family based therapy. So, the family will log on together and the student will and the family will get that therapeutic support. Students 10

031and above can still receive individual services. And we can work with Keros Solace to provide those services at school if that's better for the student and the family. So below the age of 10 will be homebased, family based therapy. 10 and above will be either homebased or schoolbased. We can work to coordinate that, but there's no charge to us as a district. We don't have to collect any information from families. They'll collect insurance information um that they use to provide the feedback needed for the grant itself. So, we're excited to bring that service back to our um our families and to our students, but free of charge to the district. That's why it's anformational item and not something you have to vote on. >> No, that's that's really exciting. Additional support our students can get

032is is great. So, any other questions or comments from the board? No. Okay. Thank you for the informationational item. Uh moving on to 8.3, another information item, facilities committee update. On behalf of Victor Sandival, our director of MOTF, um I'm going to just uh give anformational item. We had our facilities committee meeting last week and our topics. We talked about our uh classroom projects over at JGMS, modernization, preparation for um GV and our LJ restroom installation, a little quick solar um array repair update and district uh office entrance construction, and then our uh district office storage shed replacement. So, um, our six classrooms, uh, as of last week, so these are definitely on target. So, the seat walls and the concrete have been poured and were curing, um, and so we had enough dry days.

033They were all um, I'll just go one real quick so you can see what I'm talking about. So, the seat walls had been poured um in their um, scaffolds and were drying. So then um carpet installation starts this week. The carpet had been delivered and was allowed to get tempered in the room. So with the temperature and all of that. Um and so then they're installing and then it takes a few days to ensure that the glue is dry. So you don't want to be trafficking in on that glue cuz it's like this with the panels. Um and it could create some movement and some oozing of glue if you don't um let that sit for a bit. We're going to have our last layers of exterior paint. I'm not sure where that's at this

034week with the kind of damp weather and so you want some nice stays for that. And our color scheme will match the original JGMS buildings and so it will have the tan stucco at the top and then the darker sort of burnt orange at the bottom and the same green trim. So it'll match our buildings up front, our main office building and the um multi-purpose room, the gym. And then uh then after the carpet, we'll finish up with our internal electrical and IT connection. So any of our WANs and things like that, as well as um like our Vonics that are going to be placed in there. Then we find we schedule our final inspections and then we're able to put our classroom furniture in. So that's being delivered. they already have it and ready

035to go and so we'll assemble and install that. It's not tentative now. We're definitely going to have our grand opening for December 10th. So, our board meeting will be held over at John Gutierrez Middle School and then what we'll plan on doing is we'll start our meeting um at a time to allow us to have a nice walkthrough and do um a recognition of an opening new wing of classrooms. And um just in case our it's our sixth grade team that will be moving out to this new area. So oh I went the wrong way. Okay. All right. And so that's our photos there. So for JGMS uh or GVMS I got are my anacronyms wrong? So um our modernization prep and then the next phases. So, our site work here, um, all of the

036old utilities, which turned out to be a little bit more of a mystery than anyone would want, have now been removed or relocated. So, um, as different things have been discovered where they weren't necessarily on a map at all. Um, Victor was a wound up finding a very old but large uh storm drain that really didn't terminate anywhere in particular but had been left in place. And so that has been removed. Um, and so with our new code, and I'll show you real quick, um, we added a percolation system. And so because this construction area is over an acre, there's a requirement now that you feed fresh water back into your aquafer. And so with our soil and things, we've added this very um high-tech percolation system. So it's sort of moving away from the

037old model of like a like a retention pond and those things. And so this goes directly back down into the soil. And um he explained they had to dig down was it 12 feet and then you build back up with the different layers of um sediment and soil and rock that help filter so that the water going back into your aquifer has been filtered through this process. very natural. Um, but I thought again very interesting. Um, and now we didn't don't have this at JG because that um that construction area is under an acre, but when we get to our modernization project at La Hoya, we will have this. And we anticipate that when MCOE starts um building their um designated area for the TIP program because their site will be about an acre that

038they'll also have this too. So that La Hoya would have two. So um and then I put a picture of the JG uh foundation because that is the what our foundations will look like back here. It's um very similar. And so when they start pouring our foundations back here, you see on the picture on the left, we have five different construction pads now. So where they're designated out, that soil has been dug down and built back up where it should be so that when we go in and do the foundational work, everything is at the right compaction. And so when we have the area, technically it will be the placement of five separate buildings that work together to create our new courtyard area in the back. And then La Hoya modular restroom. The exciting thing

039is it's still on schedule for installation at winter break. Um, [laughter] and as you know, construction can be impacted by weather, price, availability, disasters, and emergencies, right? And so, um, we're actually bringing an item to you tonight for Premier Builders who put in, um, to contract in for just coming over to do the restroom installation onto its foundation. So, again, all of the infrastructure has already been placed for that restroom. Uh, and we'll just need for the craning and the placement of it onto its foundation. Our solar array, again, the good news is it's still on timeline. Those of you who've been with us for the duration on this or have been following along, this has been a multi-year endeavor. Um, Victor was tasked with this when he on boarded with the district. Our um

040my predecessor, Mr. Ryan, was like, "Please get these working." Um, and so working with the companies and as they've changed kind of hands and who we're working with, uh, our current partners have been really going after they changed out the inverters, so they're changing out the last of those now and they're testing. And what Victor explained at our facilities is they need to do hot testing, meaning what they did at Sanorita for the final run of testing, you actually want to do that while students are in session. all the lights are on, all the computers are on, the TV's going, all of those things that you would have in a normal day. And then you're going to take down the normal power grid, and we're going to turn on the inverters to make sure that

041they're working properly so that those systems are still able to run during a power outage. So, that's what they mean by doing the hot testing. So, he scheduled with each of our schools so that they know. Um, I know our elementary schools will probably do what Miss Kaning did and let students know you're being part of a very important test. It's for our solar arrays. And so students learned about that process a little bit as part of that. And so we're on our timeline for their guaranteed completion by the end of December. And so they've been Santaorita was our test site and they started that last spring. Uh changing out those inverters and making sure that what they put in would work appropriately before they then went to each site and did that. So um

042district office front entrance. I feel like I should go to the last uh our staff's really looking forward to the end of the doorbell. Um everyone is getting all of their steps in. So, uh, we've got some electrical that is getting wrapped up this week. Um, getting our outlet covers on, those things. A couple more things that need to be moved. Um, we have an exit sign where there's no door now. Um, so they're going to take that down. Um, our glass doors, side panels should arrive this week and then installation. So, I imagine with the rain that we're anticipating getting tomorrow, they may arrive, but I don't think anyone's going to be putting them up. Um, and then, uh, of course, our finishing touches, our service counter, and the lobby flooring. Victor, I don't

043know how, but managed to find a few boxes of the same carpet that we have on our side of the new wall. Um, they don't make that design anymore. Every so often, they take one out of commission. So, we managed to find someone. He said, "I will take all of those." And so we thought we were going to have to do like a pattern kind of thing, but he actually secured the same carpet pattern. Um we have um somebody coming in to help us determine like our best uh furniture kind of setup on inside so that we can add another workstation and have good workflow and all of that, but keep it nice and open. That's what we're comfortable with and that's how we operate. Um, and then just a reminder, I know everybody's going

044to be like, "Is this a little bit?" It is a little bit smaller. We had to go out with the wall about a foot. Um, and so that we can have that internal support beam, too. Um, so our external wall will have the additional uh support beam structures across and going um um vertical. And then our new internal wall will have a couple as well just to make sure everything is structurally sound. And we gained about a foot so everybody gets a little more elbow room on our side I guess. But um and again the the doorbell and I want to I want to thank everybody for you'll hear somebody be like I'll get it. It's like we all live in a big house and we're I'll get it. I'm already walking down there. Um

045so helping each other out and um I know if anybody saw us they be like okay. Um and then our storage shed I know we had shared with the board before that um our original timing and our bestlaid plans of being like great we'll empty that out at winter break was disrupted by mother nature saying no I think you'll do that now. Uh summer called on a Tuesday and said, "Hey, it's raining in the storage shed." Um and so everyone was here and again our district office staff, everyone who was available, we went outside. We saved I think we lost one box of readers. Um out of out of what had my heart like hurting that it was going to be tens of thousands of dollars of curriculum that we had in there. Um, lucky

046for us, the company's boxing, the external box took the brunt and the internal components except for that one poor little box that was just badly positioned. Um, and so we're able to replace that. And then summer lost some of our ELOP curriculum, but as you said at facilities, it was the prior version and so we'll just replace it with the newer version. Um, and so what we did before we sent it out to our school sites, I I just got a hold of the principles and said, "I need to send you some curriculum, but I'm going to let it sit with some dehumidifiers um overnight just to make sure it was really dry before I hand it to them. I don't want any mildew growing." So, our timeline now is um post Thanksgiving, so no

047disruption to our turkey trot. Uh we'll stub out the electrical of this building and then we'll demolish the structure and the concrete because we'll have to pour and then cure a new concrete pad. Um and then looking at January installation of the storage shed which will be the same that we ordered for the ELOP programs for the school sites. And luckily our vendor said I'll give you that same price that you bought those for last year. So nice. >> Um you um curriculum drying in my office was one of the spaces because we wanted somewhere we could close off and so we used our back hallway in my office and just made sure they were >> bone dry before they went to anyone >> and that was it. And our next meeting will be um

048coming up December 4th. >> Okay. Any questions or comments from the board? >> No. >> Okay. Thank you for the updates. Moving on to action items. 9.1 Approval of local assignment options for the 2025 2026 school year. >> Thank you. Each year we bring to you um some local assignment options to allow teachers who meet the requirements to teach a departmentalized subject. Um Hollyanne Isaac, teaching art um is one that you've approved annually and now her partner Jason Fox who is doing the job share with her also meets the requirements and would need your board authorization in order to continue teaching that course. Can I get a motion to approve? >> I make a motion to approve. >> Second. All those in favor? I. >> Motion 30. >> Okay. Item 9.2, approve two independent educational

049evaluations. >> Perfect. That's me. Um, so as I've shared before in board meetings, parents after we do the assessments have the the parent right to request outside assessments. Um, so that's what these two um these two assessments are. Okay. >> Is outside assessments. >> Can I get a motion? Okay. Motion. Can I get a second? >> Second. >> All those in favor? >> I. >> Motion 30. >> Okay. 9.3 approval of speech and language pathologist contract. >> Perfect. So, like normal, speech numbers are going up for for speech. Um, so this was actually um to support two of our sites that are um up above that 55 where SLPs are. So um this person's coming in full-time and in person, which is really fortunate for us. You don't typically find an in-person SLP uh in

050November. So we're very excited. and um this SLP will really join the team in and support our numbers um and our staff ultimately being able to give better higher quality services to our students. >> Okay. You had mentioned when our sites get above 55 as far as the number of students. >> Yes. >> So SLPs can go up to 55. I usually try to do a little cushion just so there's they're able to grow. Um but yes, 55 is the cap and we are fast approaching that and two are over. So that's what this position is adding. >> Can I get a motion to approve? >> A motion to approve. >> Second. >> All those in favor? >> I. >> Motion 30. >> Approval of parents appointment for community advisory council. >> Perfect. So um

051Darcy Lopez has kindly agreed to be our parent representative um if we so um vote. and um this position. I thought she was the perfect person to come in and and be a true parent advocate and voice for Sanorita. She has two uh children in both of our um programs. So, I think she'll be the perfect person to be able to um give back to that community meeting. >> Okay. Well, thank you, Darcy, for volunteering. Can I get a motion to approve? >> Yeah, thank you. That is um awesome [clears throat] that she's stepping up to do that. And I motion to approve. >> Second. >> All those in favor? I >> I >> motion 30. >> Okay. Approval of contract with Premier Builders Incorporated. >> Thank you again on behalf of Victor Sandaval. Um

052I'm bringing this approval contract with Premier Builders. It's for the installation of the La Hoya restroom project. Uh we solicited bids for the installation and we published the notice um October 9th and October 16th for two consecutive weeks. held a mandatory bid walk on October 17th where we had 15 possible contractors who attended and October 30th a bid opening was held and we received no responsive bids. So therefore it's recommended to award the bid to Premier Builders Inc. uh for the sum of 125,000 and that's under a force count. Um, it's an option for us if we receive no responsive bids. And as you know, Premier Builders um are currently working on our GV uh project, our district office front entrance as well as JGMS. And so uh we know that uh the kind of

053quality work that they do for us. And so we're hoping you approve this >> before and I don't know if this may be a victory question, but before the they do the sidewalks, they're aware of the the scale of the project and the potential. So when we put a project out to bid, uh the bid notice, it talks about the scope of it, what the any any kind of specifications or parameters that they would need for the project that they need to know. Um and so then when you have the bid walk, they're able to actually come on site. They're able to ask questions if they need any additional clarifications of the project or the space or any of those things. And so through the process, it allows them first to see it on paper

054and then to come and get eyes on it and determine is that something I want to bid on with my time frame. So that's another thing, right, that we put in like when's our time frame that we need a project done and all of those pieces. And so, um, with Premier, they're they're, um, coming in below our threshold for, um, how we do our contracts and, um, they're a known agency for us who can go over and get the work done. >> Great. Thank you. Can I get a motion to approve? >> Motion to approve. >> Second. >> All those in favor? >> I. >> Motion 30. >> Okay. On advanced planning, our next regular board meeting will be December 10th, 2025 at John Gutierz Middle School. Um, any suggested future board items? Nope. >>

055Not. Can I get a motion to adjourn at 6:46? A >> motion to adjurnn meeting. >> Second. >> All those in favor? >> I. >> Motion 30. >> Okay. Have a nice evening everyone.
