001You know what? Okay, let's go. Okay, it's it is 6 0 2, and we're going to call this meeting to order. Trustee Dean, would you pledge of allegiance? Please join me in the Pledge of Allegiance. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all one day. Can I get a roll call? Trustee Sharp. Here, Trustee Cheek. Here. Trustee Cohen Thompson. Here. Trustee Coleman. Here. Trustee Dean here. Trustee Dunn here. Trustee LaValle. Here. Okay, approval and adoption of the agenda. Can I get a motion? Second. I've got a motion from Trustee Coleman, second from Trustee Cohen Thompson. Can I get a roll call vote? Trustee Cohen-Thompson. I'm sorry. I mean agenda approval. Yes or
002no. Yes. Trustee Coleman. Yes. Trustee Dean. Yes. Trustee Dunn. Yes. Trustee Lavelle. Yes. Trustee Cheek. Yes. Trustee Sharp? Yes. And next up is consent. I don't want to pull one, but I do definitely want to call one out. Acceptance of donations and gift. Our own Trustee Coleman gave a very sizable donation to a wonderful program, I'm sure, helping former juvenile detention students get diplomas. Thank you so much. She gets on the board and then she gives from her personal. With that, does anybody want to pull anything off of consent? Then, can I get a motion moved. Okay. Okay, I've got a motion from Trustee Dunn and a second from. Peggy. Cohen Thompson. Can I get a roll call vote? Trustee Cohen Thompson. Yes, Trustee Coleman. Trustee Dean. Yes, Trustee Dunn. Yes, Trustee Lavelle. Yes, Trustee
003Cheek. Yes, Trustee Sharm. Yes. Comments from the community. The County Board of Education is aware of the importance of providing an opportunity for community members to address the board regarding matters within the board's jurisdiction that are not on the agenda. Those wishing to speak are asked to submit a request to speak form or submit comments electronically in real time. But prior to or during consideration of this item, request to speak forms are located near the meeting room entrance. I will recognize those who wish to speak in order in which… This request to Speak forms and electronic comments are submitted. Do we have any electronic comments? Okay. So I've got two. I think I can do this. Giovanni. Espositium? I'm so close. You have 2 minutes. Good evening, board members, community members and viewers. My name
004is Giovanni Espethia. I am an HR technician with Vallejo City Unified School District, a member of Cse Vallejo Chapter 1 9 as a treasurer and a regional political action coordinator for Region 68 CSEA. I'm here tonight because transparency and accountability continue to be a serious concern with VCUSD. On October on… April 28th, CSCA filed a second Brown Act violation regarding an MOU that was originally agreed upon between CSEA Chapter 199 and the district. That MOU was on September 12th at the March 10th board meeting, the MOU failed ratification. Assistant Superintendent of Hr. Matt Chamberlain stated that the issue was the language in the agreement. However, the larger concern is that this MOU was discussed and voted on closed session. and was never properly reported out publicly or agentized as required. In addition, since February, CSEA
005Chapter 199 has filed five unfair practice charges. Recently, PERB took the first charge as an official complaint, and we have a hearing on June 8th, but our work is far from over right now. I also want to highlight concerns about the district's handling of negotiations. Our negotiations team met with the district May 7th, May 8th today and again tomorrow. These meetings only resume after the district attempted to file for impasse on CSEA. It was denied by PERB. That process delayed negotiations for 5 weeks, 5 weeks that could have been used to discuss the effects of layoffs and provide employees with clarity about their future instead of having a direct and courageous conversations with employees, valuable time was wasted. So tonight I ask again, what is the district's plan for next year? employees to serve answers,
006even with my own department, when I asked during our weekly team meetings, there's still no clear direction provided. Today we are presenting a vote of no confidence to the district against Matt Chamberlain. Thank you. Thank you. Yes. I didn't quite hear the beginning part. You filed. Can you tell me what you… the first thing you said that you filed? Yeah, on on April 20.th Csca filed a second Brown Act violation. Second Brown Act. And when you say you filed a Brown Act violation, who did you file it with? Um, I don't have that information. Csea was the one that filed it. Thank you. Yep. And next up is Aubrey Constantino. Good evening. My name is Aubrey Cosantino, and I'm a site safety supervisor at Vallejo School District. Tonight I want to talk to you about
007safety at Vallejo City Unified School District, because now, more than ever, this is exactly the wrong time to pull us away from our schools. Recently, two students were hit by cars near Vallejo schools. Twin students at Cooper, a second grader at Federal Terrace at Wardlaw Elementary, 3 children, ages 9. 7 and 12 were dropped off and wandered away from campus. The seven and nine-year-old children ended up at a nearby skate park, then walked all the way to McDonald's on Springs Road before they were found. Think about that. Children that young, not where they were supposed to be. Their families believe they were at school. The school had to search for them. Police became involved, and one parent was left wondering how they could ever feel safe sending their baby back to school. That is terrifying.
008And Vallejo's board response is to cut classified staff. We are the adults who watch gates answer phones, notice missing students, supervise transitions, help with bus arrivals, walk students across campuses, calm upset children, and respond when something feels wrong. Safety is not an abstract policy. Safety is people. It is us. It is the campus supervisor who knows which students need extra attention. It is the office staff member who immediately knows something is wrong. It is his paraeducator who notices student is struggling. It is a bus driver, food service worker, custodian, clerk, and support staff member. who all serve as extra eyes and ears on campus. They cannot cut us and claim student safety is their priority. They cannot look at these recent incidents and decide the solution is fewer adults, fewer supports and fewer trusted staff
009on campus. We ask that you continue to ask BCUSD questions and hold the body accountable. Thank you. Thank you. Okay. One, I have one comment too. I just want to recognize that, you know, sometimes when people leave, they have fanfare. We have a whole bunch of awards, and sometimes we have people that just leave quietly on their own of their own will and retire after doing amazing work for the Office of Education. And I just want to make sure all of those people are recognized, whether you choose the fanfare of awards, which is great, somewhere in between, or to quietly leave and just not return to your desk, we value you, we really appreciate our staff here, and thank you so much, whether you're doing the fanfare. Whether you go quietly, we sure do appreciate
010you, and we miss you when you're gone, so thank you. I hope… I hope those that need to hear, I hope this reaches. those that it needs to. So okay, moving on, because correspondence. We have no correspondence. Next up is superintendent's report. Hey. Well, good evening, everyone. I have. Pamela Brinkerhoff, Program Administrator for Special Education here, who's going to introduce our student of the month for May. Good evening, President Coleman, trustees, Superintendent, Dr. Parr, colleagues and guests. My name is Pamela Brinkerhoff and I am here to welcome the SCO Special Education Student of the Month, King Dias. And you've probably noticed how local he is. He is a social butterfly. And along with his family that is here tonight to honor him. I'm introducing Shakita Banks, who serves as our TC McDaniel Early Learning Center
011TK teacher, and she's going to tell you why King is our student of the month. Excuse me if I sound a little stuffy, my allergies. I'm so excited to introduce our student of the month. King is a truly special member of our classroom community. He comes to school each day with a big smile on his face. Ready to greet everyone with a cheerful high, and if you're lucky, you'll get an awesome hug from him. His happiness is contagious, and he brings so much joy to those around him. King is a very special social student who loves to communicate and connect with his peers. You will often find him playing chase, running alongside his friends, holding their hands, swinging on swings, or even climbing playground structures. He thrives during playtime and enjoys being part of group
012activities. What makes kink especially inspiring is his resilience. His resilience and bravery. Although he has physical challenges, he never when I say never lets him hold him back. He is consistent. Sorry, he consistently tries new things and works hard to participate in the same activities as his peers. His determination is something we can all learn from. King is also incredibly kind and supportive. He is always ready to help others, whether it's sharing his communication device when his fears don't have theirs available. Um, comforting his peers when they're feeling sad by rubbing on their back, you know, letting them know it's okay, or lending a helping hand during group activities. His empathy and willingness to help makes our classroom a better place. In the classroom, King is attentive, focused, and engaged. He loves story time and
013actively participates, showing a strong interest in learning. He enjoys cooking activities. Exploring our new recipes that we try every week, and playing with blocks and cars. He is also very mindful of his surroundings and often tries to assist the staff whenever he can. Almost, I forgot one thing in here. He loves to dance. He got dance moves for days, love songs. Over the years, King has made tremendous progress in all of his development, and he continues to grow each day. We are so proud of everything he has accomplished. It has been such a joy having you in our class. Your smile, kindness, determination will truly be missed as you move on to kindergarten. Continue to be the resilient, brave, and charming student that you are. Congratulations, King. Okay. I also have to say King will
014be joining back into the Fairfield Sassoon District programs, because his progress has been so great that we can no longer keep him, and our heart breaks a little bit as it celebrates. Come on up. If you're not careful, he will run over your toes with that thing as he is holla down. Down the hallway. I just wonder how long did it? Do you want to turn around and hold this? It's true. Is anyone else? One more patient. Right. Everybody squeeze in there a little tired. Congratulations. Okay. And now, next up is Dr. Garrett. And we also have Linda Pitts here to announce their student of the month for May. The justice for tall people. Good evening, trustees, Superintendent Dr. Parr, colleagues and guests. Um, it is my sincere pleasure to stand here this evening with
015Mrs. Linda Pitts, who serves as the academic intervention teacher for Golden Hills Community School. And tonight we are celebrating the May 2026. JCCS Student of the month, Erin Meza Flores. Now they say, of course, this is the last student of the month recognition for the school year, and I know many of us have heard the saying that we save the best for the last, and this young man that you're looking at embodies what it means to be a successful student. When he opens up his mouth in class, we are all just motivated and inspired by this young man's intelligence. He is one of the most captivating students that I think any of us have ever met. And the fact, Erin, that you're standing here in front of our Board of Trustees and our superintendent is
016a testament that even when we make mistakes in life, as long as we move forward and upwards, success can come your way. I just want to take a moment to honor his mom, who's sitting in the audience in the second row. I just want to say to you, Mom, there are going to be many days that the staff at Golden Hills is going to miss seeing that car drive up to the porch. We call it the front of the school the porch. I hope that Mother's Day hit a different way for you because of your love, because of your family's guidance, and everything that you put into your son. We recognize that at the school, and he is representing your family with excellence and grace, and he is a brilliant young man, and we thank
017you. for allowing us to be a part of your son's success story. Let's give Mother a round of applause. As you stand here with Miss Pitts tonight, I want you to remember this moment, because you are making history, not only in your life, but in the history of the Solano County Office of Education. On behalf of the Solano County Office of Education. And part is, I'm sorry, let me say this again, because I'm so excited. It's not coming out right on behalf of the Jcc department as part of the Solano County Office of Education Family. It is our honor. to present to our board, superintendent and all these guests here tonight are JCCS May 2026 Student of the Month, Mr. Aaron Mesa Flores. I want to start crying. Yes, sir. I'm not going to. Okay,
018we're gonna take a photo. Come on, Miss Pitts. When you create… Congratulations. Congratulations, Erin. on the porch. I don't want to miss you. Okay, next on our agenda, we have special events recognition, and Steph Morgado. is going to come up to the podium and present on. Just some of the work that she does in the county office. Yeah, just a little bit. from my awesome colleagues that are going to be helping. Good evening, President Sharp, Trustees, Superintendent, Dr. Park, colleagues and guests. Thank you. My name is Steph Regado, and I'm the program manager supporting science, technology, engineering, art. Math and robotics. In March, many of our students participated in the Solano County Science and Engineering Fair. This year we had over 160 entries competing across three divisions, elementary, middle and high school across seven categories.
019Who's can I touch this? Move the slide? Oh. Who was helping me? Thank you. We're excited to be here this evening to further celebrate our students. Wish up once we get our certificate, and then… Jen's gonna hopefully help take a nice picture, but we tried the taller, older folks in the back here. Why don't you come back? We don't bite. Come back here and… There we go, perfect. And while we're getting ready, we'll celebrate one more thing. We also had overall division winners that our judges recognized. We had an elementary spelling bee and a middle
025school spelling bee this year for the second time, so we're extremely happy to see that middle school piece added and grow. So tonight, I'm going to recognize our elementary school division first. In first place, we have Geo Artists from Alamo Elementary School. And in second place, we have Amelia Truman from Travis Elementary School. Do we want to close those doors? It's. That would be awesome. Yes. So these are 2 elementary winners that will be going on to state and representing Solano County. Yes. You'd like to stand there for just a minute. They are receiving their certificates from sco as well as from their local legislators. Big deal. Awesome. Great job. And. They're like, we have to stay there longer. And for our middle school division, again, it's our second year. In 1st place. We have

I would like to recognize that these 2 events are very big events, and I want to thank Rebecca Floyd, who is actually downstairs with the Solano Youth Coalition right now. The Yis team, youth development team, Ernie, for all of his hard work, and all
030of our SCO volunteers and community volunteers who came to help that day. We had over 100 volunteers. It's a very large event for the academic decathlon. So we really want to make sure we thank everybody for being there and supporting that. Thank you, guys. Congratulations, everyone. Yep. Could we make a comment? Madam Chair. Oh, they're leaving. Go ahead. We just, I just wanted to folks. Hold on, hold on one second, guys. One second. So, well, yeah, yeah, we don't have to make it formal. I'll just note that I have been on one board or the other for 18 years now, and it's a very big deal that you guys are here tonight. We recognize that you're kind of a. a dragon slayer. I think you did a great job. Congratulations. Yeah, awesome. Thank you, guys.
031Perfect. Thank you. Thank you, Kelly. Okay, next up on our agenda is going to be Jess Baines Wright for the charter school update. Good evening, trustees and Superintendent, Dr. Parr. You got to give one minute. I know. It's exciting. Uh-oh. Fun to see the winners after you were there for the day and seeing the excitement and being part of the judging process. Yep. Thank you. Good evening, trustees and Superintendent Dr. Parr. The team will be sharing the updates from elite documents. We'll start with the narrative updates from Elite. Their state testing has started. The girls softball team is playing in their first ever playoff game. Super exciting. And Elite is hosting their annual All Sports Banquet and senior Talon Thurston has earned an All League track honors in the 100 meter and 200 meter event.
032So super exciting and very proud of him as well. Other than that, there aren't any other updates for the narrative. If there are any questions regarding the narrative. Okay. We'll move on to the matrix. Updates regarding the items we have received after April 16th on the Matrix. We have received the oversight fee for March and April. The master schedule for May, substitute log for April, certificated staffing list for May, cash flow for February, bank statement for March. The April ADA and the second principal apportionment, the P2, and so there are no overdue items. Are there any questions regarding the matrix? All right. Moving on to the snapshot. There are no new updates. on the snapshot, so whatever… what has been written and reported is the updates that we have currently. Are there any questions? All
033right. Thank you. Thank you, Jess. All right. Next up, we have Dr. Valerie Garrett. Who's going to be doing a presentation on the local control and accountability plan. Hey, good evening again, trustees, Superintendent Park, colleagues, guests, and those of you listening online. It is my esteemed pleasure tonight to provide our board with an update of our local control and accountability. accountability plan or LCAP. Too much excitement. Next slide. I miss you every month. Please tell me. So this slide shows all of the dates, and I just want to take a moment to thank this board, our superintendent, all of our students, faculty. Um, the Business Services Department, HR for all of the hard work and support that you provided, because our LCAP truly embodies the voices of our community. And as you can see from
034this, uh. graphic here, we held quite a few meetings. Thank you, trustees, that, um, visited those meetings. That means a lot to us that you come and listen to our students. And, um… It's just an emotional moment, because every time I come before you, it makes me think about all of those meetings and all those times the students, the parents, the staff shared their voices. I want to thank the members, our partners at the foster youth organization for Solano County. uh, the, um, homeless, uh, group. You guys, thank you so much if you're listening. If they're not here, I want to recognize them, because the thoughtful care that went into this LCAP and allowing me to represent the voices of our young people meant a lot. So thank you. I had to say that with
035this graphic. Next slide. So I just wanted to walk the board through our timeline. So back in March, I came before you and provided an update about the status of our LCAP. We're here now in the month of May, so you did receive a draft copy of our LCAP, and I also forgot to recognize, um. Miss Ashley Brown, who is our contact at the California Department of Education throughout the writing of our document. She's been checking in with us, and our LCAP has actually been recommended to other county offices of education that she serves. throughout California. So we're very proud that we are an example for other county offices. So I thank her for the time. And as of our meeting last Friday, she stated that our document is on track, and we did inform
036the state that we presented a draft copy of our LCAP to our Board of Education. Well, it was scheduled for tonight, May 13th. And then in June, this is a big month for us, we will ask for the public hearing to be held. That's at the June 10th board meeting and then trustees will ask for your final approval at our very last board meeting. So again, just wanted to provide you a copy of our timeline and thank you again. Next slide. Oh, that concludes my presentation. Any questions? Thank you, Dr. Garrett. You. I know that writing and leading this local control accountability plan, LCAP is. A task. A long task. So I look forward to seeing the final document and putting this year to rest, so we can start next year. Yeah! Because it never
037stops. Thank you for your leadership. Okay, next we have Manolo Garcia, our assistant associate superintendent of Human Resources to talk about our Human Resources report and temporary certificates. Thank you very much, Dr. Parr, President Sharp, esteemed board members. It is my privilege to present to you the staff room report and also the temporary certificates of clearance. The staff report. Not too much on there. We did hire 4. paraprofessionals, all substitutes for within scope. So we love to hire our substitutes. We know that they love the job, so they apply for permanent positions. Happy to reward them. We also had a distribution clerk that we hired coming from the private sector, a former valet driver. So, thank you very much. Are there any questions regarding any of the documents? Cd? So I'm always happy to get
038the email, the text, the voicemail. And perhaps flares about SCO job fairs? Yes. And maybe we don't know the answer tonight, but I'm curious about how. And I don't, I don't mean this in a negative way. How effective they are like, what do we have numbers on? We saw 100 people. We hired 10, or something like that. Oh, that's fantastic. We do keep that data. Our local job fairs. Believe it or not, we get a lot of. We do a lot of para testing at those job fairs, so we do on-the-spot testing for them. It's one of the qualifications that they need for the position. Oftentimes, we'll hire substitute paras which don't need to have passed that para test or have the units required for the job. And every once in a while we find
039a teacher at those job fairs. Believe it or not, we found a preschool teacher who came in and saw the flyer, and we connected them with our special Ed staff, and and then eventually our credentialing staff. To talk to them about how to get their permit and get started. So I can certainly provide data if the board would like. Yeah, we've been collecting it because we are also interested in the efficacy of, you know. Are our efforts worth the time we're putting in? Thank you. Thank you, Mr. Garcia. And I hear from him and from others in Hr. After those job fairs, because they come in and express their delight with finding teachers. and qualified staff. So. Okay? And that ends my report. Actually, we skipped over temporary certificates. Oh, it snuck on the second.
040It's at the top of the page. It's hardly even notice and it's the end of the year. I kind of rolled them into one. So yes, you also have the temporary certificates which also a very brief document of. page and a half. But any questions about those temporary certificates that were issued? Thank you very much. Thank you again. Okay, new business. Order of consolidated board member election. The terms of 3 of our Solano County Board of Education trustees expire on December 11th, 2026 areas 2, 4, and 6. We have a resolution that indicates the form of the matter to be voted on upon as it will appear on the November 3, 2026 ballot. The resolution must be submitted to the Solano County Registrar of Voters by July 3rd. Can I get a motion to approve?
0413, 4. I apologize. 3, 4, and 6. I'm area too, and I assure you I am not up for election. Been there, done that. Okay, 3, 4 and 6. Okay, who was the first? Coleman was our motion and second by Cheek. Can I get a roll call vote? Trustee Cohen Thompson. Trustee Coleman, Trustee Dean. Yes, Trustee Dunn. Yes, Trustee Lavelle. Yes, Trustee Cheek. Yes, Trustee Sharp. Yes. Agenda items removed from consent. We had none. Board discussion. The board ad hoc committee ad hoc advisory Committee on special outside legal counsel update. Dewana, you want to take it, or do you want me to? Dana, I mean trustee Dean. Happy to report out that we, since our last meeting, I believe we approved the Rfp. The Rfp. Went out. And we have a meeting, one of so
042many meetings this month scheduled for Tuesday or the 26th. The any responses we receive will be opened at that time. And considered for later. Interviews on the 24th. All right. Interviews on the 24th. Okay. That is my report. Any questions? Oh, okay, next meetings and special dates attached to the list of upcoming meetings, events, and special dates for the board members participation and information. Any questions? Board member requests in accordance with Board Policy 9250, board members may request to represent the board in education-related activity and specify the desired amount of level of support necessary for the activity, actual and necessary expenses incurred while discharging these official duties will be paid. from the Solano County Service Fund as permitted by law and SCO's travel policies. 043we have any requests? Nope. Suggestions for future board agenda items. I think it would be… I think it would be fun to hear about the juvenile detention program that is bankrolled by Trustee Coleman. We will our meeting for that is the 28th, I believe. May 28th. So on a future meeting when y'all are ready. Awesome. Okay. And we'll bring up. We do have a candidate. for for our 1st candidate for this program already. So, and we'll bring her to a board meeting also. Wonderful. Even better. Awesome. Anybody else? Oh, Trustee Dean. I'd appreciate a report of some kind. I mentioned this earlier a little more detail on the Napa. Um, school districts. I'm I guess it was not. I'm not sure it was the Napa school district, right? I'd appreciate some information if available. On
044what exactly they are doing. to either encourage. students to stay with them, or more particularly dissuade students from applying to the Vallejo City Unified School District per Vallejo City Unified School District's policies. I'm curious about the law on that. It seems that the 2 entities have very different views. Certainly, they have different policies, but it feels like they have different views on what is allowed or not allowed. So given that this is a different county. I I think it would be worth us at least having the information. On what's going on. Agreed. I second that. Anyone else? Okay, board member activity reports. Let's start with Christy Lavelle. Sorry, we're looking at me. Well, we had the SCSBA meeting. Thank you for those who attended. little discrepancy on dates, I apologize for that. But it was
045a successful meeting. We got to hear from candidates for State Superintendent of schools and few tech issues. not on our end, but on the candidate's end. So kudos to Fairfield Suisun and their staff for putting it all together. They did a fabulous job. Um, but I did have the opportunity to go to the adult programs talent show and, um, and it was over the top wonderful. I've been to that event, both when it's been out at, um. Rush Ranch, and then also at the adult school. But the move to Andrews Park in Vacaville was this wonderful confluence of community that allowed. Cloud. exposure of these wonderful, enthusiastic participants to just random folks coming through the park. So I saw this one grandmother and her little one, and they stopped, and there was there was music
046playing. The little ones starts dancing. And it was just. An example for me of how important joy is as an element of education. And so I wanted to call out Dean Evanderhoof, Clarissa Tuttle, Siobhan Dill, and the work that they put into that event. Jennifer, your name came up as one who. grease the wheels, I guess, to get the the city to. be a partner in this and allow the event to take place there at Andrews Park. So it was just. It was fantastic. It was really exciting to see. I also have to give credit to Candace, who was. Reluctant dance instructor. Actually, it was a reluctant dancer, and she was assisting in how to do a slide. But anyway, it was just a wonderful all around program, and the people. were, um, it was
047joyful. Trustee Cohen Thompson. Yes, I had the opportunity to. participate or sit in on Laurie Wilson's zoom meeting Csba legislative overview. Very, very interesting. They went over. All of the, um… bills that. They supported in some that they didn't support, or they didn't support in those that they did. And the reasoning behind, and I thought that was very, very interesting. I also attended the rise ribbon cutting at the old Beverly Hills School, which my children went to Beverly Hills Elementary School. And then I completed my little training. All right. That's why I missed the meeting. One of our meetings. Because I was trying to finish this. I didn't realize it was so long. Okay. Basically, just… keeping up with the little notices that we get from CSBA and reading and seeing really what's happening. throughout
048the State of California with the governor's budget, and reorganizing. The superintendent of schools position. And then 2, looking at all the, uh… candidates for the offices. All right, so basically that's that. And this is coming the end of the year, mid-year. So being on other boards. and my business up on that, and then Mother's Day, I had a wonderful… do nothing. Lay around, rest, look at old movies, and eat a lot of junk. Yeah, like a good mother. Trustee Cheek? Did you love him going that way? Making sure you're paying attention. I'm bouncing around this time. Hold on just a second. Okay, so I I on his own. I was at the Cal Chamber meeting where they focused on strengthening California's workforce pipeline. supporting economic competitiveness and promoting collaboration between education systems and business systems.
049I also went to the Vallejo Rice Vallejo Ribbon cutting and Carnival early the early learning center, which was if you haven't, if any of you haven't been there, you gotta go. I just can't stop talking about it. And I was also able to see our our office space. Um, that's there, too, and can't wait to revisit, so I can see how it is when it's all finished. I did go to the State Board superintendent panel that Teresa just mentioned and was able to hear from all the candidates who's running for state superintendent, which was. Quite interesting to say the very least. I went to the Scoll Educator of the Year ceremony, which was very nice back at Yale. And also yesterday, the SCOE Breakfast Forum supporting students, mental health and school safety. Today I went
050to a peace officer's annual barbecue for about an hour or so, and I also completed the child abuse and neglect reporting certification. those events I went to. So this report out on the ACBE report update. And those were online. That stands for California Board of Education. California Association of California County Boards of Education. So they continue their statewide leadership development and advocacy efforts supporting California County Board of Education. They host several professional learning events and governance sessions in the last month, literacy and action county. or enrolled in building whole child support, um, and building trusty excellence. They're currently working on their regional knowledge to action conference series, and I'll be reporting more about that as more comes down the pipeline. But they do have an emphasis right now. Their focus is on county board advocacy,
051trustee leadership development and coalition building. and support for vulnerable student populations statewide. And I was going to talk a little bit about Vale Unified School District, as everyone probably know that Lincoln Elementary, Highland Elementary and Pennycock Elementary have. are closing later this year, but there's a lot of controversy around it, so I won't talk too much about it till I know more details about that. Trustee Dean. I'm so I do have a couple of things. I'm reminded that we had some, I think, 3 or 4 schools in the county who got the most excellent. I'm not thinking of the name of it. It's only 7 in Marty. Having problems, but they got that special distinguished school award, and we never mentioned it, but I recall. So maybe next month we can hear a little bit
052more about. That's correct. Distinguished schools. I'm aware of. I believe four in the county. So I just thought we should give them a shout out. Anyway, so I also attended the Rise Fileo event, which was miraculous and wonderful and just kind of life affirming. What a great thing they've done with that facility. So I'm looking forward to to seeing how it matures and performs in the future. Um… I, at work, at my day job, as it were, we've been doing some special trainings on just how to be better at things. And today we had one which was how to live. a priorities first life. And we also did one I mentioned last month on adhd lawyers, and that really hit home hard. But and I've implemented some of those things, and it's been wonderful. But
053this one was about us. Reducing it down, scheduling for your priorities, figuring out what they are, looking at them. There's a whole system that they use, which is very helpful. But today. I booked time tomorrow between 11 and 1, which is a very high efficiency time for me generally to complete my mandatory reporter training. That is a very high priority for me. So I'll let you know how it goes. But anyway, that's… That's my past and future. Thank you. Trustee Dunn. My life has been super busy at school. This is a crazy time of year, but I did make time to complete my training and it was my second one this year because I have to do one for school anyway. So I got to redo that a second time, but. Got that done. Just
054a comment. Well, I did go to the superintendent's forum through SCSBA. That was very good. It actually helped me know how I was going to go since Tony Thurman is no longer going to be there. I did go to rise up Vallejo, and like everyone said, that's just a great program. I can't wait to go back and see how it flourishes because it's so needed over there, but it was really good. I went to the breakfast forum on mental health and mobile crisis, very eye-opening, and. I hope we can get more collaboration to where we maybe have a mobile crisis at every high school. I, um… uh, going to the Delegate assembly this weekend. Oh, boy. Um, for reporting that this would be my, uh. Let's see. I can do it without. I can just
055answer the questions. So, yeah. That was my month in a nutshell. Excellent. For me, you can tell the end of the school year is coming because every day it's a different little meeting or Zoom or but some of the more notable LCAP for Evergreen Academy. Very interesting. The Solano EDC annual breakfast. I went. I know! And it was actually, it was good. Not on time, but it was good. So not the most exciting, but it was good. So an LCAP for Golden Hills that was particularly interesting, because. Mrs. Pitts was on there, and I got to hear all about everything, and it was… it was really neat to hear her insight on all the different programs. So I appreciate that. And then let's see. Oh, and then the breakfast forum yesterday morning, which was wonderful
056and on time. So there we go. So anything else, anybody? Otherwise, we will adjourn at 7:08.
