Yeah. >> Hi everybody. We will open session. Start with the roll call. Martin is here. Delena Martin. >> Robert Johnson >> here. Captain >> here. Forest >> here. >> Thank you. Please join me for the >> salute to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, liberty and justice for all. Okay. Nothing to report. And item four, Gov code 54957.6. Six, close session regarding matters of negotiation with CSEA with designated representative Superintendent Pendle. Negotiations have finally completed on the four days school week. Okay, before we move on with the agenda, I just wanted to uh recognize the passing of a longtime staff member of the district, Mr. Brian Close. Um he was employed with the district for 34 years. He was my teacher during my tenure at the school as well as my sports coach for many sports. I remember his passion for volleyball and all the things that you wouldn't think you would well he was just he was a really good coach and he

was so excited and he just brought so much passion to the girls team and he was such an asset. So, I think I can speak from the board in saying that really our our thoughts and prayers and feelings of comfort are with his family. >> Um, okay. Number five, approval of the agenda. >> Move to approve the agenda. >> Second. >> I'll second that. >> Motion by Bob and for by seconds. It's been a long day of training. Um second by Forest to approve the agenda as listed here. All those in favor say I. I. >> I. Opposed. Motion carries. Public comment on non-aggenda items. Members of the public are invited to address the governing board on any matter within its jurisdiction not listed on the meeting's agenda. Comments are limited three minutes per person

with a maximum of 20 per topic. The time cannot be transferred from one speaker to another. Please be advised that a schoolboard meeting is a business meeting held in public, not a public meeting. Consequently, the board is legally prohibited from discussing items not posted on the agenda and cannot respond to public comments. The only other thing I wanted to add both for public comment on any items is that um remember we are live streaming and it will only pick up stuff up close. So any of your comments if you can make them at the podium and for the sake of having accurate notes if you stay. Um, is there any public comment on non-aggenda items? >> Do you want me to get rid of it? >> What is it? >> There's a squirrel in the

kitchen. >> Jack is back. >> That's not good. >> Squirrel. >> No, it's okay. No, I'm sorry. Mine's >> Jack. >> You already said my name, but Zra and Burger. um question is just since I haven't heard for a while and I have missed a couple meetings so you could have talked about it um if there's been any um further um information on what's going to happen with the buildings at Stony Courtney next agenda another 24 update >> and and June's agenda is pretty big but so if it goes to later I just council. >> All right. Um, on to item number seven, comments on agenda items. Uh, the same. The members of the public are welcome to comment on any business item listed on the meeting's agenda. Three minutes per person and 20 per

topic. Um, and we will take those comments as we discuss each item. Okay. Moving on to item eight, consent calendar. All matters listed on the consent calendar are considered routine and without opposition. It shall be enacted by one motion with no separate discussion of the item unless a board member or superintendent requests specific item be removed for separate action. Any items so removed will be considered after the motion to approve the consent calendar. So this evening we have item A, minutes from the regular meeting held April 14th, item B, the bills, warrants, and transfers. And item C, the hiring of Mr. Gley, elementary school teacher and Miss Amur, a teacher MFA adviser, as well as the resignation of Ty Minton, Lee, custodian, grounds, maintenance man, and driver. >> Move to approve the consent calendar as

presented. >> Second. Motion by Bob and second by Kathy to approve as presented. All those in favor say I. >> I. Oppos. All right, moving on to reports. We will start with the student report. Good evening. Uh culinary class, which is our seventh period class at the high school. Went to Chasta College to look at their culinary program and went to see what they offered. Heard it was a good turnout. senior class went to BU College to work on applications so that they could get one-on-one help with the counselor at B but uh big time was May 7th. I heard from students at the school that it went really well. Um there were eight people from Elker Cafe that went to Glen County Fair and showed and sold livestock. There were five pigs, two goats,

one lamb lamb. Most of the animals made weight. Everyone scored well in market and showmanship and sold well. Elk Creek FFA will be having their annual banquet Friday the 22nd at 6:00 p.m. Uh we will be going over certificates and the how the year went. But that's it. Thank you. Gack So, we have um been working on the sashes for the graduation um kindergarten sewing and dying araided the leather. This is for kindergarten and this one's for high school. So, we just have to put the dangles on both. They'll hang off here. Have that. Um, our meeting got cancelled for last week to this week Thursday due to fair and a lot of stuff going on. But other than that, we just been working on last minute things for the school year and then planning

for next year. >> You hand those? >> Yes. You guys can look >> squirrel is now going to sit in recliner. >> Oh jeez. Trash. >> Good. How are you? That's good. We're getting back. >> Yeah. >> Poor Jack. >> He is. I think he fan a lot. >> New fix. Okay. >> Uh just real quick, we had our training today and uh went over teams and how to be an effective team that had some really great insights. Um I think it was good for all of us who attended. We also went over our uh um protocols and that was also very nice. We added a couple of things on how we conduct our business and making sure that uh we do that in a very professional, respectful manner as we always do. It's always

nice to codify all that and so that was a a really time well spent today. So appreciate that. >> Yeah, I will agree. It was a great training. It's always valuable to meet and just learn always learn something about the best ways to do things. And I also spent very long and windy and dusty week at the fair mainly as a parent but also you know observing the behavior of our students and they were exemplary this year. everyone showcased themselves well well showcased the school well did great with their animals so it was great to see the hard work all year and all the time that Miss Frell has put into developing these kids and the animals really be successful at the fair I appreciated today in our training and um just solidifying uh thoughts

that that we have had and how we're growing and working better together and things are coming together nicely. So, I appreciate Fred and that he's been helping us and I just see us moving forward um and working as a as a good team. I feel it was a good time. Fred's uh knowledge of the Brown Act and being with the proper board of uh directors is well worth the day spent um all day communicating about it and going over the processes and and trying to be better ultimately for everybody, the community, ourselves, and the school. It's well worth it. I also wanted to add and was right after our last board meeting we had um back back to school or open house open house open house open house and just how great of an event

that was and how just a kudos to the team here at school the teachers the staff administration of how much time they put in with the little performance and the kids were so excited to do that and show off their classrooms. So it was a really great evening just to see what everybody's been up to especially the little are most excited to show off. So great. >> Okay. On to CBO. >> Yes. So, uh, last Thursday the governor presented his last May revise for his tenure as governor, and it was a very positive May revise, which we're suspecting it would be, maybe not quite as good as what he's proposing. Um, so we're hopeful that all things in there will stay when it comes to June 30th and they actually have to sign the budget.

So the legislature actually has until June 15th to present a balanced budget to the state and then by June 30th to decide trailer bills I'll follow after that that kind of tighten things up as far as what the specifics are to the governor's proposal. Uh one of the big takeaways especially for this district was is he going to maintain the 20% augmentation for necessary small schools and there's been no change to it since January. So yes, 20% aggregation is still in this proposal. As well as in this proposal, there is a proposed super cola. So originally the cola was about 2.4%. We knew it was going to increase. So the statutory cola is actually 2.87%. Which is going back to where they originally projected over a year ago, which is a good thing. But then

he's augmented that actually to raise it up from the 2.87 7 to 4.31. But the caveat to that is it's helped to it's supposed to help cover um additional rising costs as well as a new requirement to provide uh 14 weeks of paid pregnancy disability leave beginning 267. So depending on your staffing, that could be a major cost that that doesn't cover. So >> does that need to be tiered based on number of it only would apply to certain number of staff? >> No, it applies no matter the size. >> So there's that. Uh as well as increases to special education funding, which is great. We haven't had such a large increase in special ed funding in a long time. We thought we were only going to get about $1,000 per student in in funding.

Uh, and that's actually increased to be $1,340 per ADA. And the funding for that is very similar in the way that it's uh with LCF funding in that it's based off of your P2A from either your current, your prior, or prior to that, and you get the greater of the three years, and it's based off of your funding, your general ed funding. It's not based off of actual special ed students. So you get the funding that's based off of what the ADA is generated by your district and then again with that being such a small district doesn't make as huge of an impact for this district but it does help go towards the sulfate cost because obviously um it doesn't cover all the costs and that's why we have excess costs that need to be

covered but it's definitely going to help reduce the bill going forward when we cover some of that revenue. It's a good thing. Okay, >> superintendent. >> Well, we've had quite a few amazing things happen in our school district. We've been learning a lot, but having a lot of fun, too, since we last met. We had our high school prom. It was just I cannot share with you how amazing prom was. It was so fun to see our high schoolers, almost all of them came to prom, to see them just let loose and have fun and enjoy time with each other. And they dance. These kids dance. They have really good taste in music. Opaker, I had no idea. I like them even more now than I already did. Um, and it made us realize, you

know, with the camaraderie building that was happening during prom, it's like maybe we need to do like a back to school dance because that those positive feelings from prom, we've seen them bleed over into our school day. So, we were having some issues with people just being short with each other time of year, stress, things like that, just kind of picking on each other. After prompt, it's gone. It stopped happening. So, um, we're really excited about what kind of fun dances and things we can come up with for the kids. Um, so, and Irene Chapun with me, too. So, it was fun. We had a good time. >> Super fun. >> Uh, we finished state testing. Woohoo. Kids stuck with it. They all worked really hard. Our teachers or staff were great. We got everybody

finished up. So, we've got 100% testing rates. That's good thing. Um, the state cares about that and we want to make sure we get all our kids tested. And we did. Um, as Serenity said, the kids have been going on lots of field trips to our university big time. Shasta College, going to fair, lots of fun things going on. Uh, we had our littles go down to the the bee museum down in Orland. Uh, we had our eighth graders take a trip to uh, some arcade thing. No, no, they did Top Golf. They went to Top Golf instead. They did Top Golf. Really love that. Um, so if you're ever wondering what's going on in the district, make sure you're following our social media. Irene is doing an awesome job of keeping up on our

social media, keeping everybody informed of of all of the wonderful things that Stony Creek has to offer for our students. Um, also we had open house. We had a great turnout. We cooked 115 hot dogs and only two were left. So, I think that's a good sign. Uh, Miss Lewis did a wonderful job of having like a little reader theater in her classroom where you could go in and they had popcorn. Her kids also sang some like Americana songs up on stage. It was adorable. Um, so we're hoping to do more and more of that. Lewis is wonderful at that. Um, and then also Irene did a training for both our classified and our certificated staff about neurodeiversity where she talked about how everyone has different strengths and that with our different strengths, it creates

stronger teams. So, thank you Irene for doing that. And it's been really great communication training for everyone. So, it's nice to have someone um on our team that can provide those types of trainings for our staff. So, thank you for that. Uh and then also, we are looking forward to summer in that we have a lot of projects planned to get done this summer, new spaces for our students. We are working on um finishing up our maker space, which will be on the left side classroom in the ad department. So, our kids have talked about wanting to work on entrepreneurial skills, making the swag for our district, maybe having a student store. So, we have all those things in there along with our 3D printers for them to be able to tie in with our

our ad shop. So, that's pretty excited. I know there's one high school student in particular that has reached out to me and asked me for a tour of the space, and he's so excited, and so he's like my go-to guy for ideas on on what we can do with that space. So, we're both very excited to have that going for next year, as well as taking our library, our our what was historically our high school library, and turning it into a student union where there will be lots of flex seating spaces for students to work individually or in groups. Also have a conference space um that could work for board meetings, should the board choose to use that, but also for our FFA officers to have their chapter meetings and teaching our kids those types

of skills, those public speaking skills. Um, and then also working this summer to give our both of our staff rooms a facelift for our staff members. So, lots of good things coming up as well. >> And we have a full schedule of a lot of things happening in the next few weeks. >> Yes. If you know, Serenity brought it up, but FFA banquet is on Friday. Um, we're providing dinner and everybody's welcome. So, community members, tell your neighbors, bring it in. um so the kids can show you what they've been doing this year. Thank you. >> All right, we'll move into new business item A, order of election resolution 25-26-3. Okay, trying to find the page numbers already. 29. >> 29. Thank you. On page 29, you'll see order of election. This is just business

that we have to conduct um for the county. We do have two board seats coming up for election in November. Um and so this is just the the paperwork that we have to do to notify of that. Any public comments? This is an action item. So entertain a motion to approve. There's no questions or discussion board. >> I will so move. I'll second. >> Motion by Bob, second by Cath to approve resolution 25-26-3. All those in favor say I. >> I. >> Oppos. Motion carries. Item B, declaration of need for fully qualified teachers. >> Okay, so this is also another requirement um from the California Commission of Teacher Credentiing. So, this is we preemptively do this to say, okay, we we may be lacking um in some credentials, which is pretty typical for this district

because we're so small. Um it's it's not really financially feasible for us to hire a teacher for every single credential, especially at the high school level. So, this is to show that need. Um there are two, one for math and one for biological sciences. This is actually a decrease from previous years. So good news to approve item D. Is there a second? Excuse me. A second. >> Motion by Bob, second by Forest to approve the declaration of need for fully qualified educators. All those in favor say I. I. >> Oppos. Motion carries. >> Item C, approval of California fence building contract. We've been talking about the fence for the TK K area for feels like decades now. So, we have a bid. >> Yay. Yes. Irene was successful at finding um a contractor to come

up and build a TK Ment for us. There are actually three that return quotes. This one is the lowest cost um from California Fence Builders. And so that is in your packet. So you can see the bid. The total price comes out to $25,82. >> What page is that? >> That is page 34. The other uh bids presented were uh north of $40,000. Actually, I think the last one was like 64,00. >> Yes. Yeah. >> I move to approve the California fence builder contract. Second motion by Bob, second by Kathy to approve California contract. All those in favor say I. Item B, a CTE advisory committee members with professional background. >> Okay, so this is page >> 48. >> What is it? >> 48. Thank you. 48. That was a big one. Um, so this

is just an information item um that we are required to present to the board. are just the list of who's on our A and CTE advisory committee. This is for our CIG, our A incentive grant and our Golden State pathways and Perkins and Perkins. So all all of those grants that we get to support our A and our CTE programs um require us to have an advisory committee. Um so this list represents who is on our committee. Um you can see they are people that are from different areas in in agriculture as well as in a education. Any questions? Okay. Item GLOU with GCO for 2526 technology services. So this is a careers. >> It is page 49. Um this is for this current fiscal year 2526. Um we contract with Glen County Office of

Ed for technology services which includes internet links to the fiber network. um technology support that comes up for three hours uh one day a week to do kind of like pop into the classrooms, any sort of techn tech uh support. Um wireless long haul tower links with equipment maintenance licensing support. And if you look on addendum A in the back, there's a whole other list of things that can be very complicated. Um but this is a multi-year agreement. It does represent a 5% adjustment. So the total amount is $11,025 for fiscal year 2526. If I recall, there have been some challenges with it in the past. Is that like internet speeds and such? Is that all kind of gotten ironed out? Things moving smoother? >> We're working on it. >> It's in progress. I mean,

I anticipate we probably don't have a lot of alternative options that are affordable. >> We did at one point, I think it was last year, get a quote from another company to provide these services and it was over $30,000. So, this is, you know, this is a good deal. >> We'll move to questions. I'll move to approve theou with the 256 technology services there. Second motion by Bob and second by Kathy. All those in favor signify I post motion cars. All right, on to item page on page 51. Tenant agreement with CSEA 215 regarding 4 days school week implementation. Drum roll. We have the drum roll. We did it. So, this has been over two years uh that we've been working on this project. If you recall, it started with talking with our families and

our community and um working up is this even possible? If it was possible, would we want to try something like this? Um and then it it transitioned to writing a bill and taking a bill through the legislature and having Governor Nome sign our bill and then negotiating the agreement with the our labor partners with CSEA and CFT. And here we are and we've done it. And so we have an agreement here, a tenative agreement with CSEA 215 allowing the district to move to a 4-day week for next school year. So we are all very very excited to give this a try. It's new. We recognize it's somewhat experimental. There are only a couple other districts in the whole state that are functioning under a 4-day week, but none of them are offering that fifth day

as enrichment um opportunity for students. So, it's this is brand new. It's brand new and we're going to pilot it and try it out and report our findings, our data back to CDE and who knows, maybe become a model for other rural districts in California. So, it's very exciting. Very exciting. Just want to say that, you know, sometimes these things, especially when you have to jump through hoop after hoop after hoop and red tape and having to go down and deal with our legislator is none of that's easy. And to continue to do this through two years is um it's a testament to um what do I want to say? Words, words, humbled um the drive and determination that it takes to do that and stay consistent in doing that is is extraordinary. It's not

common. And so I appreciate your effort. And then with that, I move to approve the 4day uh week district calendar. That's item one, sorry. >> H uh send it in agreement with the CDA 215 for a week implementation. Is there a second? >> I'll second that. >> Motion by Bob and second by Forest to approve this tenative agreement with CSEA. All those in favor signify by I. >> I. >> Opposed. Motion carries. All right. Now on to where the rubber meets the road. 4 day week calendar. And also maybe could you just give a little um insight as kind of your plan of how how we're going to roll this out and yeah that just just brief what you're thinking. >> Yes. So with a 4-day week school will occur Tuesday through Friday from 8:00

am to 4 pm. Mondays will be our off day but they'll be an enrichment day. So kids can still come to campus and receive breakfast and lunch. even kids that aren't coming to campus can still pick up breakfast and lunch kind of like in co days. It'll still be available so our families that need that can take advantage of that. Um and on Mondays what's going to happen is we're going to use this as enrichment. So the way that we're going to roll this out and a lot of information is going to be coming your way community members here shortly. We just had to get this approved tonight to do that. Um, but we're going to do like sessions like six week sessions where there will be a focus on Mondays for a session. Like

one six week Monday session might be focused on STEM, science, technology, engineering, mathematics. And so there'll be lots of STEM activities for kids to participate in. We'll also have opportunities for kids to come in and do credit recovery, um, attendance recovery, right? So we can keep those attendance rates up, keep kids caught up in their classes, getting tutoring, things like that. Um, so we're thinking like a STEM rotation, arts and crafts, music. Um, we'll do a sports rotation, things like that. Kind of like what we would do in summer, but throughout the school year. Um, and then again, Tuesday through Friday is regular school, so kids will be required to be on campus 8 to 4. We're still doing all of our normal things, but kids will get plenty of breaks, don't worry, recess, all

of those things to get what they need in order to be successful. Um, part of this process will be really educating our families on that Mondays, Mondays are now your days for dentist appointments, doctor's appointments, trips to town, grocery shopping, and if you need me to talk to your doctor personally about giving you, you know, first dibs on Monday appointments, I will do that. Um, because our goal is that this is really going to help reduce our chronic absenteeism rate, right? Um, kids will have that three-day weekend if parents want to keep them home on Monday to rest and recover from ceremony or travel or all the things that our kids do. Um, and and be in school Tuesday through Friday, no matter what, getting the education that they need and they deserve. >> Yeah.

So, we're really excited. It's a big deal. This is a big deal. >> Yeah. >> STEM programs will be great. >> Yeah. the just the enrichment opportunity for having kids at school with time that we don't normally have. You know, >> lot of >> instruction time stays the same. >> Instructional minutes stay the same as we are currently as every other school in California. We don't lose any instructional minutes. >> Is transportation still available on Mondays? >> Transportation will be available. We're working out um we're going to have a registration process. Kids can drop in on Mondays. Of course, no matter what, we are going to do a registration process just so we have kind of an idea of who to expect and um where we need to send transportation to. >> So, it looks

like calendar-wise it would we're going to it bumps us up a week. >> It does to August. >> Yes. >> Hope we're still getting out. >> Yes. It was very important to our staff that we do not go into June for school. Everybody likes to be done at the end of May. So we still finish at the end of May. We just start a week earlier in August. So the first student attendance day will be Wednesday, August 5th. >> And then I see in May the red outline is state flex days. So that would be like makeup days for power events like yesterday. So we wouldn't have to add anything to the calendar. >> That's right. >> So prior we we didn't have as much of those. >> Right. We build in a day like

this year. We don't have to make up yesterday because our calendar is 181 days. we only need 180. So, we preemptively plan for a day. Um, but this the language in the statute for allowing us to try a 4 day week mandates us to build in five flex days so that if we are missing a day, do a power outage, a snow day, whatever, we can make that up on one of those Mondays in May. >> They the state really wants to make sure we don't miss any instructional minutes. All right. Any questions, discussion on item? I >> I just think that we'll probably have to work more closely with connect GPAC with this. It's new for all of us. And so, you know, looking at instructional time, I mean, we're not even considering high

school students that have to do diialysis, too, that may miss diialysis like three days a week. that we might have to do independent like we're gonna have to sit down and look at look at that. >> Yeah. >> Because this is something our school district really hasn't had. But I mean I I work with kids that have those disabilities that aren't >> failing yet but could possibly be on that dialysis direction. Students >> you and I can talk because there's resources for that. >> I'm thinking all this right now. I mean, it's a good thing, but maybe not such a good thing if they have to miss that. So, just think about that. >> Yeah. I think um like I think we should like those conversations like uh that's where we can maybe explore 504

plans. >> Yeah. >> Um for students that might have that so they don't fall behind. >> But yeah, >> that's my worry for that, you know, like there's a lot of resources for that. We can work that out. >> Sorry. >> All right. With that, I will move make sure I'm on the right item this time. 4 day week district calendar for 2026 to 2027. Second. >> All right, we have a motion by Bob and a second by Cathy to approve for the school calendar 2627. All those in favor say I. >> I. >> Opposed? Motion carries. No summer break for you. Nope. It's okay. That's okay. It's worth it. This is awesome. We're making history. >> All right. On to item J. Agenda to superintendent principal contract. So, as we reported out at the

end of the April meeting, um the board approved a positive evaluation for superintendent principal. So, then that led into contract negotiations for her contract. So, um the proposed addendum uh is on page 76 with two main uh updates to contract. So, with a positive evaluation that extends the superintendent's contract by another year. So, the contract term would now run through June 30th, 2030. and it would also come with a salary increase of her base salary up to $180,000. Um, all other aspects of her contract stay the same. This was a a great conversation we had with the board of really looking at looking at the value that Emily brings to the district and looking at comparable comparable salaries across the counties and the north state. And you know, I' I've heard the comment before that,

well, it's a small district. There's not as much work or not as many students, but it's still it's a one person in a job that could be filled with multiple people. So, the board sees the value in that and therefore is proposing this addendum to the contract. >> Comments? I just want to say that yeah, I have absolutely no reservations about this. Um I'm super happy to uh be part of this negotiation. It's not only for uh our current uh principal superintendent because she is doing both jobs that should be highlighted. That was one thing that was also pointed out in our training today that not everybody has to do that. Um, and it will serve our school district in the future as well. We're hoping he stays, but you know, life happens, right? But

this will also set us up for success in the future that uh, you know, if things happen and um, just like Rita was saying when we did the comparison and I say we, I was actually provided the comparison. Um, but this is actually average to a little bit of flow. Um, and so it may seem like a high number, but when you start comparing it out, um, this is, uh, a good deal for us. So I'm, like I said, I'm super excited to, uh, for this. I'll wait if anybody else has any comments before I make a motion. So it was just average. You said she's on the low side. Would the district go up to make her a little bit? >> So the this were >> I'm just wondering >> would bring her up

to average. >> Okay. >> She was well below average at this point. This will bring her up to slightly below average. Not that we think she's slightly below average. So please don't take that. We're just looking at the physical conraints as well. No, she's average. >> We We think she's And the tenacity was the word I was looking for earlier, but and her tenacity and her ability to coordinate staff and everything is amazing. And if we could pay her more, we would. Um, but this is the number we came up with. And so that's I just wanted to explain that to the public. And again, this will uh put us and the school district right where we need to be. And then of course, so hopefully I explained that. >> Yeah, I just want to

thank you for all your hard work. We appreciate what you're doing and um we're happy to give you this. We we think you deserve a lot more, but um we hope that you stick with us for all that. >> Thank you so much. Thank you. >> Thank you. It's my pleasure. >> I'm really looking forward to the STEM for the 4 day school week actually for somebody who's, you know, got to take my kid to town for his visits and things which is one day out of school every two weeks. He misses the day of school. We've been doing that for two and a half years. It's going to be great to be able to schedule Mondays. And also being self-employed, you know, it's one of those things if he's I think it's great to

have the STEM process available. that's gonna hand and I skill coordination. It's gonna be great. So, I'm really looking forward to that. So, I think it'll be a good thing for all the community. So, thank you. >> With that, I will move to >> Can I make a comment? >> Oh, yeah. I I just wanted to acknowledge um you know working going to school in this district um my entire life and a lot of our families at Grindstone um and being able to not only be a trustee at one point in my my career um and also being a tribal leader um and now being able to be a part of organization where we're in the school um I have the unique perspective um working with many different school districts um in our area that

we serve. Um, I just wanted to uh just bring to, you know, light how much this school district is doing that is innovative when it comes to working with tribal communities. Um so much so that I've asked Emily to come in July to present on the work that we've done together um to model um some examples of relationships when it comes to policies procedures because that's where a lot of uh challenges with school districts are are at especially in in areas where we're we're serving. Um, you know, just hearing in conversations that I have with Emily, she's very uh cognizant of tribal culture and the importance of that. Um, and that is usually always on her radar and I really appreciate it. You know, the district calendar, you know, she referenced, you know, it's good

for native students that are finishing up ceremony to have that day off. It shows that cultural awareness and it's really um really worth highlighting that to have a a district and leadership that um we're not having to struggle or or a challenge to see us and hear us. It's it's a welcome um you know it's it's a welcoming uh conversation that we have and Emily really leads that with us and even behind the scenes stuff that um you know we work together with our our native families um to provide support to students um it it's uh it's it shows a lot of the leadership and we appreciate the relationship um because of that and I know it's a team effort um but the leader is definitely um someone that moves the vision forward and We

really just want to acknowledge it from um um our perspective as a as a tribal serving organization um the the wonderful work that Emily has championed with our efforts to change systems and to really challenge uh the status quo of things. Um and again just really wanted to highlight um that she's she's done wonderfully in this position from my perspective um not just as a or partnering organization but also as a as an alumni and and a person that comes from this community. I just wanted to highlight um the great work that she's done and we appreciate it. So definitely support what you're all saying and um uh yeah I just wanted to voice that with you all. you guys you guys do great things and you have a great uh person in a position

to keep moving things forward. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> I just want to say um I'm very appreciative of our first meeting interview and stuff and I asked the question, you know, if you were hired as a superintendent, would you come out to the Grand community? And she did. And she attended our first our our backpack day that we had for the back to school for the students. And you know, that was the beginning of her knowing the students out in their home church or whatever and getting to know what GPAC and in Corwin's brought to the table. So, and I appreciate that. >> All right. Or she gets too big of a kid. No, I I do. We we appreciate all those positive comments. Thank you so much for taking >> All right.

I move to approve the Oh, sorry. Go ahead. >> I just was going to say um I'm not to be the one negative and I'm nothing against anyone here, but it is a concern that increase because it's almost but it's like 40% 30% increase seems like a lot of money. Not saying it's not needed to may or may not be necessary, but it sounds like a big increase with a concern in that I don't I'm just in the budget. I just can't voice that concern. >> I move to approve the addendum to superintendent principal Emily Pendle's contract. We'll second that. Motion by Bob and second by Forest to approve the addendum. All those in favor say I. >> I post. >> Item K, approval of the 2627 consolidated application for funding. >> This was me.

>> Okay. So every year we have to bring this to you to approve >> basically our title one funding. Title one, title two, title four. We don't have any English learners, otherwise we'd have title three. Uh, and then we have to decide whether or not we're going to choose between um SRSA funding, which is title five part B subp part one or title five part B subp part two. And so we just take the greater of the two when it comes to the funding. We're eligible for both different levels of funding, but one is negligible and the other one's a little bit more. Not even that much. We're talking about $2,000. U Title One though is is quite a bit of money that the district receives uh based a lot on the poverty levels that

are within the district boundaries. So that is very significant as well as title two. Uh and we spend a lot on title one on our instructional st instructional aid staff and support staff as well as title two on supporting professional development for our staff. And it also helps pay for any kind of subs that are needed. We need a lot of subs lately. That's been the case for many years and more. So this is nothing new. This is something that comes every year. And uh >> how much are we talking about in total roughly >> uh for all of these 170,000 or so? The majority the major majority of those questions I move to approve the 2627 consolidated application for funding cars. Second motion by Bob, second by Kathy. All those favor by I. I

opposed motion. Last but not least, board consideration of any future agenda items. kind of just overall facilities update for anything else. >> I don't think I think that was the only thing brought up was the what's happening. >> Yeah. All right. With that, we will adjourn the meeting. Thank you. Look at
