Winning first place at both the county and state levels in the directing change film contest is an incredible accomplishment that clearly reflects Alma's talent and voice and the extraordinary mentorship she receives in our media arts program for Mr. Katar. We look forward to celebrating this accomplishment and exploring
opportunities to expand this type of student engagement across our district. Alina has solidified her legacy at Heritage High School. The 2026 drill team world drill competitions were held May 1st to the 3rd at the O Ocean Ocean Center Arena in Daytona Beach, Florida. This premier exhibition drill competition features elite solo, duel, and team performers from across all service JOTC programs and is widely regarded as the highest level of competition and exhibition drill. Three of our cadets competed independently and achieved exceptional results against a field of over 100 competitors. Nicholas Medina and Gabriel Dunn earned first place in the tandem event. In solo drill, Nicholas Medina placed first and Gabriel Dunn placed third. These accomplishments represent the highest level of achieve
achievement within the sport. In light of these outstanding performances, we are respectfully requesting consideration for formal recognition at the school or district level, similar to how top CIF finishes in sports such as wrestling and track are awarded commemorative. I hope our cadetses may be considered for a comparable acknowledgement. Again, these cadetses are Nico Nicholas Medina who placed first in soul drill, first place in tandem drill, Gabriel Dunn placed third place in soldier and first place in tandem drill and Joseph Brock who was a competitor for the competition. Every year,
they take part in directing change, a statewide mental health film initiative to bring awareness and >> this year, junior Alina Ibara took first place in the state for her film under the through the lens of portrait category, which tackles mental health issues related to our identity. I'm Hannah R and I'm Kyler Drew. Back for the very last time with your Wildcat updates to the end of the school year. We've had a lot going on this past month if you're in towards the end of the school year. For starters have
the same musical which is perfect exactly why you see. It was absolutely amazing performance and had some certain future stars on our hands. Speaking of performers, we had a wonderful performance from our Polynesian dance group, Ohana Maha, who had their final show of the year on April 23rd. As usual, their performance was beautiful and graceful and it moved everyone in the crowd. And then after that, our Latin culture club hosted a night where a live Latin band came to the school and played for an awesome event. On another note, spring sports are just finishing up. Congratulations to our athletes of the year, Brooklyn Bernie and Isaac Desparza. Also, let's give a shout out to Miley Lindstöm who claimed the title of student of the year. Great job, Wildcats. You're really going above and beyond. And
for our final event of the year coming up, we have Tom Brady and our grad. But Paloma Valley seniors have the opportunity to have a sentimental full circle moment as they walk the halls with the patients that brought them to the point to work so hard to. This past Friday, we also had senior sunset where our seniors all joined together on our football field watching a movie in the sunset symbolizing the closing the final chapter of our childhood and high school experience. That's it for 2025 2026 school year. It has been a pleasure to present to you all the wonderful things our school has done for this amazing year and we thank you so much for your time. So for the last and final time, I'm Hannah and I'm Kylie J. Have a great summer.

Our advising with a huge check out these awesome photos. As we head into May, very excited. for upcoming events including festival road trips and activities and student celebrations. We all stay involved and finish the school year strong. Thank you to our board members, cabinet members, staff, families, and serious continued support. And thank you for taking the time to watch our April rec video. Have a great evening and goas. All right. Item 9.4 PSA President Jason Miller. I uh continue to be proud to work in this district with the schools that we have. So much so that my own son will be going to Paloma Valley High School next year and I'm I'm very excited. Maybe a little nervous. Uh I want to give a shout out to all the teachers. This last week was teacher
appreciation week and Paris Secondary Educators Association gifted them all with umbrellas. And in a wonderful twist of fate, we ordered up rain on the day that we uh actually the umbrellas. >> That's so um also shout out I was thinking about this today. A shout out to this is kind of a strange one, but a shout out to all the teachers and site administrators, directors and cabinet members involved in all the attendance initiatives that I've seen happening this spring. They've been working. These kids are back in the classroom. It has been an interesting school year, one filled with growth and transition. As we wrap up the school year, it is important to our members that our all schools are prepared to open in the fall. We believe that they will be. The teachers and other
PSA staff are prepared to teach and serve the students, but we count on the idea that different basic systems are in place for the schools to open in the fall. The sooner the students are in the classes they are supposed to be in, the better it is for those same students. The sooner the teachers have access to the grading system and the grading system has rosters loaded in, the better it is for the students. The sooner master schedules are truly settled, the better it is for the students. Many teachers will prepare on their own during the summer without pay for their classes in the fall. If a teacher is told two days before school starts that they are teaching a new class, it is hard on the students and the teacher. We have a new
grading system being enrolled called Aries. Teachers need a lot of time during the first two preparation days on August 6th and August 7th to prepare their classrooms, but even more so this year because they will have to learn a whole new grading program with new grading procedures and new computer attendance procedures. PSEA members would always prefer having all of those two days to work on their own classrooms, getting to know the new grading system, and preparing their classrooms and classes for the first day. If you are not familiar with being in the classroom once school begins, many teachers are thinking, "In 48 hours, I'm about to be in front of hundreds of students." The first day and weeks of school set the atmosphere for the teachers with the students. So it is crucial that there
is a real focus to being able to start with their classes on day one. We do not want to be hindered because something is not set up that should have been set up. Then teachers have to pick up the slack in the classroom. Again, we need our leaders to have the schools ready to open in the fall. We believe they will be. The good news is it is seeming like the sites are working towards that end with master schedules at least being fleshed out now. That is encouraging and so I thank the leaders for starting that process right now in the spring. Please keep up that momentum because if the school year starts well, which I would like to celebrate in the fall, it is likely that the rest of the year will follow in
the same. Thank you for this time to speak. Item 9.5, CSEA President Cynthia Navaro. Good evening. Good evening, President Garcia, board members, cabinet, and guests. So, this month is full of celebrations, right? Between teacher appreciation week and classified school employee week. And I could not be more proud to stand here today as a CSEA president representing those classified um employees who are often the first to be there to arrive and the last to leave. I mean, if you think about it, custodians open the school, custodians close the school, and so many other things, you know, from assisting front offices, um the families in the front offices, maintenance and operations, making sure that the campuses are clean and welcoming. I mean, the list goes on. And I want to share something that I witnessed last last
week. So at Heritage, it was decision day, signing day. So that's when students come and, you know, they're they're signing away their their future. They're basically deciding which which college or which um branch they're going to go into the military. So it it's a big day. So what I saw was both groups, certificated and classified, coming together, working together. I saw the collaboration. I saw the teamwork between setting the decorations, setting up the tables, uh the food, just you name it, everything. And I just, you know, I just stood back and I took it all in and I said, "Wow, like this month." And I I just saw this and I just couldn't feel more proud just feeling I mean how wonderful it is to to recognize and celebrate both teachers and classified this month
to see the collaboration and the working as a team and and the way they support one another in service of our students really shows why we are here. We are here for them for those families. So this year's theme for CSW classified school employee week is students thrive for classified work and it just it fits perfectly and I couldn't be more proud and so just a huge thank you to to the teachers for their compassion, their hard work, their love, their care and same for of course my classified employees, my brothers and sisters. we are here for all the right reasons and I and I saw that and I know this happens throughout the district but that was just a moment that I saw and I just wanted to share. Thank you for your time.
>> Thank you. >> Item 9.6 comments by the board of trustees. Trustee Compos. >> Well, I got a lot to say this time, but I'm going to kick it off first for Jason and Cynthia. So, please thank all the classified and certificate staff because I know that when I go to events, um I don't see all the hard work, the early morning, the popping up tents, all that other stuff, but like I just walk in and it's just decorated. It's awesome. And the events are great. And I know it just doesn't happen. You know what I mean? There's always someone behind the thought, you know, the actual doing of of setting it up. So, thank them all for for everything that they do, you know? And I will share something actually. I'll jump into one
of the things that um at the employee uh recognition uh dinner, employee appreciation dinner that we had. It was a great event. I mean, the whole thing was just decked out. It it looked great. I had brought a friend uh who happens to live in that community and he works in Marietta Valley. Uh he's an administrator there. And so we and I kind of wanted to, you know, brag and kind of check out like what do you guys do? So, I I invited him and uh one of the things that was very cool was that he told me he's like, "Man, you guys have a really good staff here." Cuz I can feel the vibe of just like they love each other. You can tell that they love what they do. And it was it
was really good for me to hear because, you know, you just don't know. And obviously an outsider who walked in and just kind of felt it. Um it it was a great feeling. It was great to know. Yeah, you know what? They work hard at what they do and and he just so for me it was just, you know, something I told him. I said, you know, I'm going to share that because that was a great compliment I thought and and it was a compliment on everybody. It wasn't just, you know, it was the the from admin all the way down to everybody that was there. So, it was that was great to to kind of hear and see and I was glad he went because it just kind of gave him ideas. He wanted
to kind of see ideas as to like what are we doing, what's going on. So, that was uh a true blessing. Um, this was a crazy month. Um, I I went to the Paloma Valley High School Senior Awards. That was a blast. That was great. Uh, to see all the different kids getting all these different awards. Uh, and usually sometimes I, depending on the schedule, I don't get out too much. Sometimes I do, sometimes more than others. Um, I went to the, uh, Liberty High School Abbott Awards. That was actually very, very cool. Um, first from the beginning, uh, Courtney Shaw opened up with a great kind of opening statement and and what, you know, kind of she presented as to what was going on for the night. I was super impressed that a student
was just that articulate. Uh, all the things that they shared. Um, the next thing that they did was it was really cool. Uh, so the way it worked out was the AVID student picked a teacher and then they had a why I chose little speech prepared and so they gave an award to the teacher and then the teacher gave them is it a sash or stole? >> A stole. Okay. Um, I don't know the proper language but now I'm learning. And so and you know the student read or they read uh one of the administrators or counselors I think read what was up there and why they chose the teacher. So, it was really cool to kind of see the the coming together of, you know, like like the the Jedi master and the young,
you know, Padawan um as they're doing that. Um and and then I was, you know, for me, I was kind of like just to be engaged. I was like seeing, okay, who's leading, you know, this teacher and then it was like for a while there was a lot who had two and then they had three and then four and then Mrs. Bennett got six, I think, was was the final winner. I want to say second place might have been might have been five or four. I kind of lost count because I was trying to keep everything in my head, but it was a great event. I thought it was really really well done. Um, again, the setup, everything was was really cool to see. Um, I also went to the Liberty High School listening session.
That was good to kind of just see, you know, what what's on people's mind. I encourage that, you know, staff members and us as board members attend those because you get to hear kind of what's going on and and what um teachers needs are, classified staff, whoever shows up. It's just good to hear always what is going on on the ground. And um and I hate to say this, but I I saved the best for last. Um Chuck and I went to the the Paris High School um FFA Awards and and and no offense to any other production. They're all great, but this one was like exceptional. Um we walk in the room and there's hundreds of people. Like the whole Paris gym was full. you know, they have the as they greet us, you
know, they're greeting us when they walk in. They all have this positivity to them, they go through like a million awards. Um, and then kind of the the passing of the torch where they, you know, one of them, the seniors kind of take their coat off and they hang them up kind of like a baseball player hangs up their spikes. So, they like literally take off their jackets, hang them up, and then they pass it on to the new president, vice president. And it was just I mean, it was it was a great event. It was just so um when they made the announcements, it was kind of like the NBA playoffs. They had the music, you know, then everybody comes down and the lights are flashing and and they start making the announcements and
it was just I mean it was exceptional. It really was. Um I was proud of the staff, the students and it was just like wow. Like you know everything that we do for that program and I'm sure every other program is worth every penny. You know what I mean? I know for me it was just like that was awesome. And now switching gears, um, we we went to a DC lobbying trip and uh, you know, obviously for us it's a it's a trip to DC. A lot of times they're sightseeing. Good thing about DC is at night it's open, you can do things at night uh, while you take care of business during the day. And we kind of went off schedule and didn't do what was planned by CSBA. And we decided, hey, you
know what, that the things that we were lobbying for was special education funding from there. um AI obviously kind of just the AI just platform on what's going on um you know the the the cautions and the the the benefits and then cyber security and I forgot there was one more thing but the cool thing was is we got to visit so in California we we we kind of hijacked um not we kind of crashed the party cuz normally you're just supposed to go to your your uh you know my assembly person is is a Calbert and then for Parish Union we you know it's Tano but we decided to go. We had some time off in the morning and we decided to visit Calbert, Takano, Isa, Kylie, Huffman, um, Obernulti, Valido. So, we're covering
the state and it was just all talking about education, all the great things that are going on here. Um, but also the great ideas and the things where we need them to partner with us, uh, and asking for for funding because obviously, you know, we need federal funding for a lot of these programs. Um but then you know we had the idea we were with someone uh a friend of ours um he decided hey let's go hit the other states you know let's let's see who's on the right committees and so we went by Utah we visited Burgess Owens and these are all uh congressional representatives we went to Burgess Owens we went to Tennessee uh Andy Ogle's office we went to Louisiana Julie Lelo Alabama Gary Palmer um and the CSBA uh representative was
one of the person she kind of thought we were going a little rogue and we kind of did, but we made some great uh partnerships because a lot of people look at California and they're like, "Well, what's going on there?" And so, it was a good opportunity for us to share with them what's going on, what the struggles are, what the concerns are. Um, and and because obviously we're always asking for money, you know, to make sure that the funding is there, um, from a federal program. And so, it was a very, um, great trip. And and I I think the highlight for me was uh so one of our friends, Mike Greer, he's a retired teacher in um up north. Well, his son is Jameson Greer and he's part of the Trump um administration's
cabinet and he's the US trade rep. And so we were able to have they carved out a half hour time for us to sit there and you know we got to sit in his office with you know the seal and it's just it's it was really cool because we got to talk about issues of education just life issues kind of things things that are going on in California and you know when you have the ear of someone who literally meets with the president on a weekly basis you kind of you you you ask what you need to ask because it's just like you might not get this opportunity like hey you know what by the way if you're talking to the you know, you might want to ask this, you know, and so it was
awesome. It was a truly awesome trip. Um, sightseeing, I didn't get to do much. My legs were killing me. Um, but we did I I thought when we left, um, it was probably the most accomplished trip that we had just because we visited so many people, talked about so many good things that are going on and it's always nice to brag about what the the programs that are going on here. Um, and so anyways, we just wanted to share that or I wanted to share that because I thought it was an important trip. And for me, you know, it's always whenever I go somewhere, I'm always trying to figure out how to network, how to bring back ideas, how to how to make your lives and and the lives of the students better, and how
can we improve things? And, you know, obviously I I can talk, so I like just anybody that'll listen to what we have to say. I always got I I take advantage of the opportunities to ask for the needs that we have because um you know you don't get those too many of those opportunities so I make the most of it. Anyways, that was pretty much it. So, thank you. >> Thank you, Trusty Hall. >> Oh, yeah. Um so, we'll start off with the the Liberty uh listening session. Uh I was also there with Steve. Um and yeah, just learned a lot sitting there taking my notes. Um, good. >> Uh, notes. >> Yeah, taking notes. Sorry about that. Um, and just listening to the concerns that, uh, teachers and staff have over what's going on.
Uh, so, uh, made me think about it and what haveot. Um then going to uh from there went to uh the the Paris FFA uh Awards was like Steve said it was amazing. I mean it was already packed and then another bunch of people came in. They had to go and grab more chairs, more tables, set it up. The food was great. I don't think anybody ran out of food, tacos all over the place. Um, but every time a group of kids students would come up and grab a their award, just take off because another hundred kids would stand up and get in line to get their award. It was just this cycle that was just going nuts. Myself, Mr. Compost, and uh Dr. Williams, we were just like, "Oh my gosh, this thing was
going on forever. This is so cool." Um, so it was just a great event there. Um, and then like uh for the Washington DC trip, it my second time going and uh really glad we did what we did because I learned so much uh just the process of how everything falls together, you know, uh on on the spending of where we need to get it from and going from not just in our own uh state to congress, but see the other states and let them know, hey, what are you doing? what are you guys doing? And they were just open their doors to talk um and then just expressing our what we're doing here in uh in Paris u the educational uh oh god representative for Ken Calbert Marshall um he wants to come down
and visit our district wants to go through the classrooms you know so I think Meny was like hey wait they can come with us go to our classroom so uh because we were with Meny uh at that one Meny with Marley and uh I believe uh asking questions just trying to find out you know our special ed funding you know we're supposed to get x amount of dollars we're getting this much they're taking away from uh the general fund to to fill that spot and it's really tough you know looking at that going wait a minute where's our money going you know so we got to fill that spot uh so it's a really good learning process for me um I don't even I think I went outside the uh yeah there was no no
time for visiting anything. It was uh food, sleep, work. So it was a good uh a trip for myself. I learned a lot. Um and just being watching how everything just falls into place with leadership. You know, you got your leadership there, but they're there behind asking those questions to you to help out. So we all got to pull it together and and uh work together. And it's like with the our classified certificate, you know, working together like that is great. Good to see our our community come together and just, you know, be there for each other whenever we need it. So, um, it's been a busy month. It's going to be the next busy month. So, I'm glad to be here. So, >> thank you, Trusty Stuffer. >> I just want to say thank
you to everybody that's made it to this point. It's hard getting here. I know how it is at the end of the year. >> It really um yes, you do get burned out and you have to pull that extra energy you have out and use it. So, uh so we're here. We're going to get our students graduated and it it's really there is a different vibe in the district now. I I I sense something. We're we're not so much attacking each other. We're we're looking to come together and and talk to each other. And as we all say, we don't have to agree on everything, but if we can understand what we're what we're talking about, then it helps because I've changed my opinion over time on different issues when I learn more about it.
So now I've learned to be a little slower. might just be natural slowing down, but >> I I I don't jump to conclusions and I like to hear the whole story and do whatever is best for our students and staff and and teachers. So, um please continue to communicate with us and and you know, I think we're doing great things. So, that's all I have to say. >> Thank you, Trusty. tonight. >> Um I wanted to ask if we're able to not not this meeting but maybe get it emailed or something the video that one first place um I forgot what the name was of the production. Yeah. And I would love to see that and I think >> yeah we were um it seemed like it's about mental health. So >> may maybe we
the one with she won first place. Yeah. >> If we can see that and if uh hopefully maybe we can get it cuz the student made it. I almost feel like it'll um connect more with the students and hopefully we can maybe maybe make it like a a district video that the students can watch. Um and I just wanted to mention Cynthia, I love seeing you up here with your daughter. I It was beautiful. I I I you you were in work mode, but you had your baby right next to you and it just it was it was a beautiful sight to see. That's it. >> Thank you. I definitely want to say since it came fell in this order, thank you to all the certificated staff. We appreciate you all the hard work you've
done for us. Um, man, you guys have a really tough job. Really tough job. And I want to make sure you all have the support you need. And I shouldn't say me. I know we all collectively are advocating for everybody. But thank you very much. Please let all the teachers know we appreciate them. And then of course my brothers and sisters in classified. I have to give you guys a big shout out. I appreciate you guys. You know um in education. It's not just classified. This actually goes for everybody administration too. This is a thankless job. You guys, man, this last week has been really intense for me. And so I've seen things I've never realized. I've dealt with for 27 years I've been in education. And I'm just like, "Wow, people really have tough
jobs." All the fires you put out with the parents and, you know, the miscommunication between student and student and parents and then situations blow up out of nothing. But yet you guys put on your your your attire. I'm going to call it your attire. And you just handle them so tactfully. I'm just like, "Wow." And then you have to deal with the public over here on the school board. Like everybody, thank you. But for my brothers and sisters, thank you. Seriously. And I can't wait to see you at conference as well. Um, also to the district, if you guys could email the board, I know we have the information, but I want to make sure I'm right because I have two dates and it looks like they clash and I'm speaking at the same school.
So, now I don't know which is the correct date for graduation speeches, but if we get all that so everybody's on the same page so we can figure out if we're able to make to all the graduations as well. Um, I think it's important that we capture our students. Them graduating is such a big deal. It is humongous. You guys are phenomenal for all the hard work that you guys put into these students. The blood, sweat, and tears. It's real. It's real. I see custodians, their hands are like they're really tough, you know? They're like, "Oh, that this scar is from this, you know, the bleachers over here." I'm like, "Oh, because you did that." You know, just stories that I'm hearing, maintenance guys, you know, just all around. I appreciate everybody. You guys are
fantastic. Um, and I think that's it for me in regards to comments. So let's move on to the next item which is item 10.1 invitation to address the board of trustees on non-aggendaized items. Are there any items? >> No public comments. >> Oh perfect. Item 11.1 consent calendar approval of consent calendar items. I would like to pull item 1110 personnel agreement with Red Rover Technologies LLC to incorporate additional personnel services service platforms into one integrated system funded through the general fund in the amount of $51,180 for separate discussion. Do I have a motion? >> Thank you, Trusty Compost. Is there a second? >> Second. >> Thank you, Trusty Hall. Any discussion? Um, do you want to discuss it later or >> No, we can do it right now. >> I'm just wondering why. >> So,
the other month I brought up information. I was talking about going to a digital platform across the district to simplify things, to help people out with their jobs, expedite payroll especially. So, I understand Red Rover does that. Where I work, we have Red Rover. So, from what I understand, the simplicity of it is that most employees, not everybody, already have a set salary schedule, right? So, all they have to do is enter in the time they're off and Red Rover adjusts and accounts for that. Now, I know the software communicates with Galaxy and other other platforms that we utilize. But, that's my intent to go to one platform, be done and over with, and move on because we have so many more topics we need to address. And it just seems like the more I
ask about it, the more delayed it is. So I I really want to expedite it. So that's my intent. >> Okay. Is that fine? >> Okay. All right. Any more discussion? >> You have a question? I can see it. >> Well, no. Um so, um can we because there was items I wanted to pulled too, but should we just do them separately or >> Yeah. Do a thor now. >> Okay. Um, I would like to pull 11.6 >> 11.8 >> 11.9 >> Wait, wait, wait. 11.6 11.8 >> 9 >> 11.9 >> and for 11.14 >> 11.14. >> Yeah. Four. So >> from the action item for consent >> consent >> 11.6 6 11.9 >> 8 n and I mean they're they're one and the same >> six eight >> n what else >> and then
I think Edward wants 10 >> 10 >> and then 14. So 11 6 8 9 and 14 by you. So for 11, well actually we uh we did a first and second for item 1110 and then I think to be Fair a separate we're going to have to do a second uh motion for 11 6 8 9 and 14 that combined because we already do for a second correct >> would that be accurate >> motion to just combine them as one okay all right so then the motion was made by compost and the second was by hall so we'll have 11.6 11.8 8 11.9 11.10 and 11.14. Is that accurate? >> Okay. Any discussion? >> Any further discussion? I should say. >> Well, >> this is just a motion >> for a separate vote, right?
discuss >> for a separate vote. >> Clarification >> for clarificate. >> Yeah. >> So you Oh, gotcha. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, you want to keep >> We're going to discuss it then for clarification right now and then still vote on it under consent. >> Well, I >> cuz we're pulling I'm pulling 1110. >> No, I understand that. Um >> for a separate vote, >> right? So, I'm just pulling them just Yeah, there'll be a separate vote for >> Okay. >> clarification. I mean, I just want clarification on some of them. So, I don't know whether that um should be done separately >> or do you want to table it for another month? >> No, no, no. I I just want clarification on on some stuff. That's it. >> Okay. >> Will you be answering?
>> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Most of those items are >> open session or close session. >> All right. So, >> are you okay? >> Okay. >> My leg. >> Oh, yeah. I don't want to say the three numbers, but you know my talk. >> We're on discussion. >> The next step would be to discuss it. Correct. Before >> No. So items to be pulled from the consent calendar. Do not need a motion. So we need a motion to approve the consent calendar as amended with all the items. >> Okay. So we're there. We have the first and the second. So no more discussion correct and we could go for a vote. All right, perfect. Call for the vote. Actually I need to now will the on on the blue part that's written there. Are we
going to make the adjustments or we'll do it after we vote? Okay. >> Just agree. >> We're not >> those items were pulled so they're in another section. >> Oh, got it. Okay. >> And you guys will discuss those individually. So, what you're voting on now is >> everything else. Okay. Got it. >> What's left over? >> So, we're waiting for Mr. Der. >> I might do it. >> We can blame James. >> Touch it. There we go. All right. Item 11.1 passes >> with the items 11.6, 11.8, 11.9, 11.10, 11.14 table. So, or excuse me for discussion pulled from the agenda. Okay. >> So, item 12.1, item 12.1, personnel agreement with Red Rover Technologies LLC to incorporate additional personnel service platforms into one integrated system funded through the general fund in the amount of
$51,180. I would like to make a motion to approve this contract and bring it to the time to the time sheet contract to move to Red Rover at the June 1st board meeting. Do I have a motion? >> So move. >> Thank you, Trusty Annayia. Do I have a second? >> Second. >> Thank you, Trusty Hall. Any discussion? >> Yes, exactly that. Yes. >> Any more discussion? Okay. So clarify just one. >> Okay. So what is it? >> I want to integrate it to one system. >> Okay. >> I I don't understand when you say one system with the same company or you a different >> well >> company. How do how do I explain the platform? >> Yeah. If I heard the motion correctly is you want to for for the district to bring
to board the time sheet contract with Red Rover in June first week. >> Yeah. Yes. Yes. >> Meaning everybody will be >> included in red basically >> everybody. >> All right. >> Okay. >> Isn't that why it was on the consent side? >> Is that why? No. >> This is what's for >> Yes, please. >> since we're inviting. >> You might as well stay. So what came to board is the approval for it's the approval for the HR portion of it which is records um anything that has to do with onboarding and processing things for HR. Uh what is not on there is the time sheet portion of the contract. >> Oh that was the last one. Alfredo, when did you project the time she portion to be added to it? Did you have a
projection for that? >> That'll be Dr. Williams. >> Oh, I'm sorry. >> Thank you for the question. Uh, Mr. effort. I am working closely with our payroll staff as well as our COE to evaluate Red Bull to ensure that it's going to meet the needs and create better efficiency. Um we met with them last week. Um so we haven't come to a final decision yet that it's going to be the best best platform for payroll but we are working on it and u we'll be u moving forward to ensure that we have the one platform but we don't want to move too quickly into a process that won't be the right process for payroll. So we're just asking for a little bit more time uh to verify that and then we'll be bringing that to
the board. >> Thank you. Um so actually I want to make a comment on um Red Rover. So Red Rover actually was a group of individuals who helped design Galaxy and they branched off because for certain people are in control of Galaxy and they don't want to relinquish control to Red Rover. And I know Red Rover has the ability to create the software and to for it to communicate with Galaxy. Where I work it exists. other districts. It exists and it it does expedite the time sheet process. It does expedite things in human resources. That's why I'm taking this approach. I already know it exists and I know certain entities don't want it to happen. I'm not saying parish union. I'm saying entities. I'm being very cautious with my words right now. So that's where
I stand. Okay? I'm not saying I'm poor or it's anything. It's well I guess if I say this I got to care what I say >> in your opinion. >> In my opinion in my experience >> working in the district we've been under a way of reporting our time that is severely antiquated and I don't want to see us go through step after step after step trying to correct it. Let's just get it all done in one scoop. So maybe that is where it's okay. >> It's it's moving up in technology. So okay, that's >> I just out of curiosity. Um, Miss Williams, why why you said that you're not sure you're not sure why it would be the best process? I was wondering why you think that or how did you come to that
conclusion? So, when we met with Red Rover last week and with the executive director from RCE um online with Red Rover, um she did identify some districts within the county that is using Red Rover. Uh and she was concerned with some of the reporting that uh they were showing without uh codes and things of that sort. Uh the budgeting part was another area of concern. So we just needed a little bit more time to ensure that the time sheet module there are several different modules but the time sheet is very important to ensure we have correct budgeting and all of that. So what Red Bover showed us was a little bit incomplete. So the next steps and the commitment was to talk to a district within the county who's using that time sheet portion to
get their feedback to see how it was working and if it's going to be efficient for um payroll. So that's kind of like where we are. We just want to uh because we know we've had um concerns and challenges. We just want to make sure that we investigate all of the pieces of this time sheet module because that is critical to the work that our team does and we want to move forward because we definitely agree um board president that we want that to happen but we want to make sure that we go slow to go fast so that we get it right. >> I I don't have a disagreement statement in regards to going so to get it right. I just uh am very well aware of Red Rover and the creators and the
designers that they have the knowledge and the ability and they've been crystal clear to me that uh they have the ability to make it all happen and they understand what Galaxy lacks and I believe they also address the uh the issue that I have brought up to Dr. Gomez in the past a couple of times that I've spoke to him personally about especially classified employees having to wait a month sometimes two months for their overtime pay based on the timelines to turn in overtime because Galaxy can't adjust it and the the people who oversee Galaxy won't allow the designers to adjust that. They want to keep the same timeline. So it does affect classified people. In my opinion being a classified member it's it's huge. It's a big problem because everybody else gets paid on
a timely manner and classified sufferers some especially during the summer when they have summer work summer crew and they don't get paid for a whole month after they do the the work. So delaying payroll is a huge issue for me and it bothers me very much and that's why I'm pushing very hard because I know summer's coming up and if we don't if we don't push for it at least right now we don't have the opportunity to save this year and summer is very important for the class 5 because I don't want to see people losing their homes or families over this. So um is so okay just so I understand kind of where you're at and if I'm tracking them so the the portion that is presented with us today is your portion in
HR. >> Correct. >> And now is this something that is is negotiated with the bargaining units or is everybody kind of or is it not? It's just >> Yeah. No, this is a district decision um uh to the which platform we want to utilize. We did review front line and we also reviewed red rover. Uh I was also part of the committee with RCE. Uh we did ask the question about whether RCO has any platform that has fully integrated for time sheets and they said no. And then RCOE als I mean not RCO Red Rover also said that they would do anything that they need to do to be able to start working with RCE to fully integrate the system. >> Okay. Yeah. because I I think um I think I'm familiar with the system.
This is where I'm kind of getting the two. So I believe we use front line and then we but we use I think droplet for the time sheet. So that's a completely different ask which is what I think he's >> correct and I will say that right now we also have absence management where where this is for substitute coverage. Uh so this would streamline every process. >> Okay. Um yeah and and I know I know the time sheet my concern there is just to make sure that like I know if if I take an hour off they charge me for 1 hour right but in the system with droplet if I cover a class they only pay me for you know 45 or I forgot what the whatever the minute is but they take a
full hour off when I'm off but if I cover something I only get paid you know 050 you know as opposed to the 60 or the 0.1 and so that's kind of my concern but that would be a time sheet thing I just want to make sure that it's simplified and it's one for one you know I mean teacher takes an hour off they're docked an hour you know and if if they work an hour on their their prep time or whatever then they're paid for that hour you know what I mean so it's hour for hour and that's that's I know for me where the concern is because sometimes you'll get short changed when you're actually working but when they take away your time it's like a lump sum >> and So that's but
I believe that would be on Dr. Williams's side of the platform. So okay and and this is something that you've other districts are using this and you're comfortable with the system being kind of flushed out and >> yes it's very user friendly. >> Okay. And no no no concerns with other school districts using or are there ar are there other school districts that we know of? >> Yes, there's other school districts that are using Okay. All right. Thank you. >> All right. Any more discussion? Thank you. >> All right. Please vote. >> I guess vote needs what? >> The yes to implement it and no to no. Yes. >> Yes. No. Yes. >> Yes. Okay. >> Yes. depends on the HR site, not the time sheet site. >> Uh, correct. 12.1 agreement >> both >>
agreement with Red Rover Techn I'm sorry. >> It I added the the motion that Trustee Garcia >> Oh, you added Okay. So, it is both. >> Oh, >> it's to bring the to approve the the current agreement and then to bring the time sheet agreement on June 1st for you guys to approve. >> Correct. Okay. Perfect. Now I understand. Yes. >> Okay. So I'm now I'm thrown off cuz my vote was with the intent on the HR side, but I thought we were waiting to get more information from Dr. Williams >> to then approve the time sheet side if that's what >> No, my motion was to bring to bring the time sheet to June 1st. So she >> So we're not voting on the time sheet. Correct. We're separate, right? Correct. Okay. Then then
my vote then I I got my vote right. Okay. Okay. >> All right. So we called for the vote. So You have a question? >> No. >> All right. >> Okay. >> Item 12.1 passes 50. >> Item 13.1 discipline. Thank you. >> Oh, wait. >> So 11.8. >> 12. >> Okay. I always >> I got to hit sync one more time. Boom. There it is. Item 12.2 personnel revised job description program specialist on the consent calendar. >> It's not on the page because we pulled them. It's now on the computer. Computer's updated. >> 12.2. >> Yeah. So now I have to go back to the computer. >> Item 12 three. >> Wait, go back. Hold on. Oh. >> Oh, okay. We're back on 12.2, correct? >> Yes. >> So, it is an action item, revised
job description. >> Do I have a motion? >> Okay. >> Second. >> One moment, please. >> 12.2. Uh, you motion trusty Annayia and then Trusty Compost will second on 12.2, two which is personnel revised job description program specialist. Any discussion? >> Yeah. Okay. So um now are these is this position currently existing? We have people in these positions or is this >> okay. So so there it's just basically changing the job description. >> We're just aligning it to education code requirements. >> Okay. Now, um there was one thing and I noticed that um it requires an administrative credential and I guess my my question is um it didn't look like there was any disciplinary um responsibilities. Is is there a reason for that? >> Uh so this falls under the special education >> for the
reason why it requires >> Can you speak to the microphone please? >> Sure. So the specific ed code that's being updated there is a special education funding that we get from state and federal resources um part of that is called program for program specialist and regionalized services. So EDC code actually states that you need either a special education teaching credential, a related services provided cred provider credential or school psychologist because those are seen as experts at the special education field. Um, it is typical that districts have the requirement for an administrative credential because those individuals are tasked with sitting in high leverage IEP meetings, acting as the administrator that's representing which means they can commit resources, funds of the district. You know, there's just all sorts of um ed codes that they fulfill as the
administrator in those meetings. So, can we add um disciplinary duties to it or would that go against you? And the reason why I'm asking is because it just seems like we we are tending to move away from any type of disciplinary action or accountability especially within the the the special ed field. And so, and I understand the role in in the IEPs. I deal with them at work, you know, constantly on how it goes. Um, but you know, I also know that sometimes, you know, that there's a an overwhelming amount depending on the time of the year and whatever on the disciplinary process. And so, I mean, I personally would just like to see that that those duties. I I mean, it's kind of like, you know, athletic directors now have also our I guess
their VPs. They handle some discipline as well as well as athletics. >> So, for discipline, you mean for student discipline? is not what >> or or within the the obviously the special ed field cuz that might be you know they might know what I guess kind of how to handle it. I know back in the day like if it was, you know, if a kid punched a kid, you know, it was just like, okay, you're one day depending on how the severity of it. Could be one day, 3 day, 5 days, whatever. Um, but sometimes nowadays it just seems like that no longer is the case if the student has an IEP. And so I just didn't know if that's something that could be added to it. so that when there is a disciplinary situation
with a student who has an IEP that um obviously that the person in this position would be considered an expert at it and and would know how to properly handle the accountability of the actions of that student. >> So the the role and the nature of program specialist typically the disciplinary procedures that's the um school site administration that's assistant principles principles um that issue suspensions and things like that. We really do try to keep the program specialists and the special education um side more consultative, right? So they're they may preside over what's called a manifestation meeting. Um so they're not so if they were tasked with issuing the suspension that would kind of muddy those waters a little bit for student discipline. So they're seen more as a consultant while we work and support, you
know, work in conjunction with our site administrators. um the disciplinary actions activities directly isn't something that um is is typically in the role of a program specialist. I've been in a lot of districts and the county um and that's just not it kind it kind of muddies the waters a little bit. So I guess explain to me the day of a program specialist because if it's not IEPs, I mean my understanding is it's predominantly IEPs. >> And so what else what does the day look like for a program specialist? >> Sure. Uh they're running SACE reports. So um pulling data from safe compliance data monitoring that they're in classrooms. They are in high. >> What kind of data are they pulling? Uh so I susping they're um on always monitoring like case loads when our
re-evaluations coming up when our um annuals do. They also are doing a lot of records reviews. So on those high leverage cases um when we're determining does a student need a more restrictive uh setting then they're part of the um considerations for change of placement. So they're looking at their entire, you know, IP records. They're looking at currently what's happened. Um, have we done the necessary assessments? Have we um imp had time to implement these things? You know, really kind of keeping being a gatekeeper to ensure that we're in um giving least restrictive environment access to all of our students with disabilities. They are in those high leverage meetings that have advocates, attorneys. uh they also are engaging in like alternative dispute resolutions. They're the main they're kind of the main bridge the liaison between
our district office as well as the site. So they're also relieving some of the load off of just the IEP calendar in general um sitting in as administrators uh because the site you know sites sites have to run. Um so really supporting the districts they're going to um start and start meetings to ensure we have attendance issues with students with disabilities. Is there anything in the that we have not offered in the IEP that's prohibiting the students from accessing faith service-wise, accommodation wise? So, they are it on the front lines just meeting state talking to parent consulting with um teachers. They're, you know, kind of that resourced between the site administration. >> Would it be safe to say because I understand what Mr. composition is saying, would it be safe to say they're not actual
assistant principles that can handle this? >> They're Yeah, they're not. They're um really they're really supporting the IEP process. So, they're roughly, you know, >> I don't understand. I just saw on the on the the application or the the requirements that they had an administrative credential, which is >> Yeah. and partly because um one of the required members of the IEP team is always an administrator and so um the absence of having that administrative credential then you know we're kind of missing missing one of the required IEP team members parents to a teacher special teacher and then an administrator has to be at every meeting. So >> So are they um lifting some of the burden off of the case manager or the case carrier? um they're more consult consultative to the case manager where
they're really feeling is um they're taking some of the load of sitting even in those I don't want to call any IP typical but kind of the ones that maybe don't always have an advocate or you know they're sitting in so then the site administration the APS and principles because if they need to cover or there could be multiple meetings happening at one time either SST or IEP in nature so they're also covering a lot of those um just kind of your typical meeting if you will as the administrator. So not only are they covering those high leverage ones, they're also >> basically design. >> Yeah. So they're they're they each have anywhere between two to three days a week where they are added into the just schools general. >> Pardon the interruption. Mr. Compost,
do you have questions in regards to like their job description where you might want to table this for more information? because I think now we're talking about job descriptions as a whole >> and I I kind of feel like we're going off a topic. >> Yeah. No, no, I'm just trying to understand like what obviously it's a job description, but um just so I have an understanding because I I get what you're saying about you know, I mean, as a teacher, you're in those meeting with advocates and attorneys and you know, but I'm not an expert. I just I answer questions and I tell them what I see and you know, my expertise in in my field. But um okay, I just didn't know if that was something that we could add. Um I mean
I I know that they're they exist also and I just didn't know if this was something that we were kind of looking to recruit or they're already there. We're just changing a little bit. So updating with with with ED code and I just thought, you know, if we could if that could be added as, you know, an administrative help um for discipline, then that would be a bonus. But >> yeah, now I understand kind of where Oh, >> is there an increase with pay on this? It's the same salary. >> All right. Any more discussion on 12.2? >> All right. See none, please vote. >> Discussion description. >> 12.2 passes. 50. Item 12.3 personnel amendment to agreement with Van Dermiden Marcus Law Corporation for personnel investigative services. Is there a motion? >> Trustee Annayia and
then trust who? Trusty Hall. >> Thank you. >> Any discussion? >> Yeah. And so I just so on this one I notic that there's and it's kind of I guess one and the same because it's just an increase in in the amount and I understand you know what the the purpose and the uses. My question um and I just probably don't remember the the contractual figure um but in using the attorneys for um the investigations obviously it's going to come at a higher cost. So we know do they have so I know that sometimes within a law firm you know they have different rates depending on their partner you know this that the other and other people handling things that aren't I don't want to say legally as important but you don't require legal an
attorney to do it. >> No. So these are investigators or it's just investigator. >> It's just so the investigator working for the law firm. >> Correct. >> Okay. And so they bill it. Do doing what? An hour. >> I believe this one is 360 an hour, right? >> So, it's attorney rates. >> Yes. >> To do investigations. >> It's an it's an attorney doing the investigation. >> Okay. So, it is So, it's an attorney doing investigations, not an attorney firm. And so, have we looked into uh OH to see if they have um someone that does the investigations that will go at a lower I mean 360 is a pretty high. So this one was discussed in December uh with Mr. Adam Pierce >> and these are one of them is already completed. We just
have to pay the amount and then the other one is should be completed in the next two weeks and that one is because there was a switch investigator. >> Okay. So this is actually existing staff. >> Yes. >> Okay. I was I was under the impression of it was >> No, this is just the particular piece that we were Okay. >> Yes. >> That's the clarification I needed. So I now I understand what the increases for and the rate because I do recall that. I just didn't know if it was um just something just that we're contracting you know for future investigations. These are existing ones. Okay. >> Yes. >> Any more discussion? >> Thank you. >> See none please vote. 12.3 passes 5-0 12.4 Personnel amendments to an agreement with Van Deridan Marcus Law
Corporation to conduct an impartial personnel investigation number two community member investigation. Do I have a motion? >> Second. >> Wait, wait. Trusty Compost and Trusty Hall. >> Yeah. Any discussion? >> That was just clarified. >> Thank you. Okay. Please vote. >> 12.4 passes by zero. 12.5 curriculum agreement agreement with alumn to provide student leadership retreats and for student team building. Do I have a motion? >> Oh, I think we that's not the one I had. >> No, >> that was revised. >> Yeah. Six. >> I know, but the one that the one the one I think I mentioned was 11:14. It's the multi-year professional service agreement with the California Association. >> Yeah. >> Schools. >> This is 12.5. >> Um, >> can you vote on this one? And then >> Oh, sure. >> The next
one will >> 115. >> This one's 15. The one I was 11.4. 44. >> Okay. So 12.5 we have an action item which are items pulled from consent calendar agreement with alumni to provide student leadership retreats and for student team building. Do I have a motion? So >> second. >> Is that trusty hall and trusty compost? >> Thank you. Any discussion? See none, please vote. 12.5 12.5 passes 50 >> and then can you 12.6 will be curriculum multi-year >> I don't have that here okay 12.6 Six will be curriculum multi-year professional services agreement with the California Association of School Counselors to provide the professional learning series and consultation services funded through the local control accountability plan supplemental concentration funds in the amount of 35,000 not the general fund. Do I have a motion? Second. >>
Thank you Trusty Hall. Thank you Trusty Compost. Any discussion? >> See none. >> Yeah. Wait, wait. >> Breaks. >> What are we on? 12.6. >> It is now 12.6. Your >> multi-year professional services agreement. It's not up there. She just told her right now. >> Okay. Discussion. Okay. Um, yeah. I just wanted a little clarification on >> Hold on. I'm sorry. I could barely hear because this conversation. >> Okay. I just wanted clarification on the um the expense and just kind of how the whole process of >> it says 35,000 not the general fund. >> No, I understand it's all gap fun. I understand that. >> So, what's the question? >> Well, I know you're not going to answer it. Okay. >> So, um that is to work with Dr. Loretta Witson who is the
executive director of the California Counseling Association and our goal, we have really incredible counseling teams. I don't know if you've been able to spend time with them, but um they just do so much amazing work with our kids. Um, and so what we've really been trying to do this year is to align their practices across the district and then align them with the state and make sure that everything that we're doing is aligned with the state standards for counseling practice. In addition, um, she is supporting us in working on the counseling fee schedule, which will um, generate funding as our counselors are um, submitting claims to be able to get funding back for the district. And so she's working with us twofold to be able to make sure we're aligning to counseling standards that we're
aligning across the sites and ensuring that everything that our students are getting at Paris High is the same as Paloma Valley is the same at Paris Lake and also making sure that we're moving into this ability to generate funds by all of the work that our counseling department is doing and submitting those things. >> Okay. So, and and I think you you answered uh and clarified my question. So I just wanted to make sure that that so the counselors are all on board with this everybody because too many times I know that there's something that might happen that might come from the top of director you know assistant superintendent but just kind of add something on someone else's plate because they think it's a great idea but it might not be practical or or something
that they even want to do but if it's if it's got the full support of our counseling team then I will give it kind of sounded like that they've been involved in the process and this is something that will help streamline their work to make sure that we have we don't have compliance issues that we're also on the cutting edge of whatever else is kind of coming up. Okay, that's basically what >> Yes. And we I think they really appreciated the first time we worked with them was at their um October professional development day and sometimes all of our class our certificated staff gets lumped in and our counselors do some very different work than our teachers and so we were able to do really dedicated counselor training and so we just have a couple
of times during the year where we're really focusing just on them and their skill set and you know their job. Um, so I think they really appreciated it and they're really hungry to have that alignment because it helps them when they know that um what they're doing is the same thing as another school. And so if a parent starts to ask questions or says, "Hey, you know, at Liberty, they're doing this over at Palmo Valley," the Palmo Valley Council can say, "Nope, we meet. We're all aligned. We're aligned with what the state is asking us to do." And then it's really supporting the whole child. >> Isn't the collabor collaboration? Okay. Thank you. >> Yeah. >> Just just also to add on to your concern, um the intentionality for the counselors is really important who
gives her PD. And um if it's not from an association that's really geared to our counselors, it's not going to go very far. And that's just a lived experience. So um really wanted to just cosign on what your intentional your thought was is absolutely. So after that first PD day um and the feedback from the counselors it was also the awareness that the fee schedule in California was created in order to sustain the counselors different from the medical recovery. So we can't move forward with that at all without them and a leader that actually goes to Washington and advocates and that's what this group does. >> Yeah. >> You'll hear more. Yeah. As we get this is the foundation of building that purpose. >> Yeah. Okay. And I do remember that that was the PD
was kind of scheduled. They had >> relevant PD which was good. Thank you. I appreciate that. >> Thank you. >> Okay. Ora >> oral. >> Okay. Trusty compos. >> You got to be oral. >> Oh. >> Yes. >> Trusty Hall. >> Yes. >> Trusty Stafford. >> Yes. >> Trusty Annayia. >> Yes. >> Trusty Garcia. Yes. It pass. 11. Excuse me. 12.6 passes. 5-0. Now moving on to 13.1. Written reports discipline April 2026 monthly suspension and expulsion report item 14.1 action item general functions 2026 board meeting schedule revision. Do I have a motion? >> So moved. >> Trusty Annayia. Is there a second? >> Second. >> Trusty Hall. Thank you. Any discussion? Seeing none, please vote. >> 14.9 passes. 50 information. Okay, before I continue on with information items, I also I just want to make a quick quick quick comment before we table any items in the
future. This is kind of important why we have the meeting before if we have any questions, feel free to email the district or when we go do the agenda review prior to me finalizing it. This is where all your questions get answered. So, I'm asking you to consider that before we just pull the items because I'm trying to create space and opportunity for board members to see the calendar prior to coming to the board meeting. >> Um I I >> pretty quick. >> Yeah, I did appreciate that. Um the one of the concerns I have um is you know in obviously going through this information is timely and so you know if we're I know that I know what you're wanting um but sometimes you know we're expected to get this on on a Monday
and we don't and then so my concern with this last one was um after I had reviewed things and and you know I think it came out on Thursday I reviewed some stuff I knew you were in the gender review with I think uh Alfredo. Um and so I'm still reviewing stuff and I had there was some questions that I was going to pop in there, but next thing I know that things posted at like noon on Friday, you know, uh legally speaking, we have until Sunday. Now, obviously, I could respect um you know, wanting to make sure that that gets posted by the end of business day on Friday, but it it sometimes in theory um that idea works, but it doesn't necessarily um work sometimes within our schedules um to review a lot
of information in a short amount of time. And you know, when when something comes out that day and you're having an agenda review, um you know, I I kind of wonder how was all that able to be looked over, read, decided upon, and then agreed upon, and posted in such a short time. So, so if if I may interrupt real quick. >> Sure. I was just making a comment. I wasn't going for discussion at the moment. So, if you want to address that and go to the order, I would definitely answer if you're out looking for an answer from me. But I'll also give the district opportunity. I prefer the superintendent to answer that, but I was just bringing up a point because you have opportunity to meet prior to me my approval as president
and then you also have the opportunity to send emails to address any questions and concern. That's all I was capturing. I was just making sure you have the window of opportunity. >> No. And I >> can I move on to 15.1 please. >> Curriculum revised career technical education course RC advanced culinary arts cap meets A through G requirement F 15.2 2 revised career technical education course under networking pathway RCE interdig pathway cyber AI esports formerly known as RCE inner sports inner esports and game design requirement. 153 revised English course ERWC11 cowpads code correction. 154 revised English language arts course ERWC11 with designated ELD calpads code correction pending A throughG approval. new career technical education course under the entrepreneurship self-employment pathway advanced entrepreneur and marker PHS pending A2G approval 156 curriculum new college prep elective course

the superintendent. Would you be speaking for the superintendent? >> Um, I don't have any other items. >> Okay. Item 19.1, other items by board of trustees. Trusty Compos. >> Um, no, not at the moment. Okay. Trusty Hall. >> Uh, no. >> Trusty Stafford. >> Nothing for me. >> Okay. Trusty and I >> not the same. >> And myself? Nothing. Item 20.1, future board topics. Are there any future board topic requests? Trusty Compost. >> Um, yes. So, I don't know what it was. One of the reports um, and I don't I printed it out, but I don't remember what agenda item it was. Uh, it's a report of purchases by fund and resource. U is there any way to get um I guess a little more detail because in reviewing it there's you know a lot
of large ticket I'll just give a couple examples of like travel and conferences it just says first bank card and it has you know $4,000 and some of them are on the larger side. Um, and so for me, I just don't know as these receipts are coming through if there if there could be a little bit more specificity as to what the expenses are. Um, if we could add that. Um, so there's a little clarification cuz as we're looking through it and approving the stuff, we just for information sake, you know, that way we understand what the the charge is and what's going on with it. Um, I would I would like that um put out. Uh also, uh going back and then and discussing so the the agenda review um I would like to
at least make a recommendation to not post it till the end of the business day on Friday because that will give us and obviously depending on when um the material comes out for us to review will determine how much time we get to look at it and go ahead and either um email or text or whatever um communicate to get that information to not have to have discussion here. Um even even so I still don't see the issue with having just to discuss it here. I mean obviously besides time sake but if if my schedule doesn't fit um with the the hopes of the timelines then you know there there's I have no other way to address those issues. Um I have done it like that in the past and it's kind of gotten blown
off. Um, so for me it's like, you know, as a courtesy, yeah, I I can try to do that and accommodate it, but obviously, >> you know, um, all of our schedules are different. And so, Absolutely. >> and, you know, sending it out, I think, in in a manner where we can look at it >> prior to your review, um, would be beneficial. And I don't know what that entails. Like, I don't know when these get put together. I don't know how the information gets added to that. So that I would I would uh So so you want a report of purchases in regards to credit cards expenditures. >> Well, yeah. So if you look at it, some of them are very specific. >> Can you be specific to your topic though? >> Yes, that's
that's the the report purchases. If you look at it, some of them are very specific and I know, you know, okay, this legal firm, boom, that's the cost. But some of them are, you know, Amazon.com credit, you know, um, and and and those aren't the ones I'm more concerned about. It's just like the travel and the conferences. Um, you know, the ones that are over $1,000. >> I just I don't know what as I'm looking through this as the expenditures. I don't know what that is. It just says first bank card, travel and conferences, and an amount. So, just some specificity as to kind of like the other ones. It'll tell you what it is. If it's you know cabsy conference then I know okay that was a caby conference you know three people went
five people went two whatever um that's all I'm asking is that we can get that so that when we do review this and it's a pretty lengthy document and it's like 24 pages but it would just be helpful to know kind of what that is as we're uh approving things and going through the agenda review. >> Okay. So, and then you're asking for a future board topic to make it a agenda item for the agenda review cuz that's what we're on agend future board topics. >> Yeah. Well, so you want to make this on the agenda to talk about the agenda. >> Well, no. So, >> that's the item we're under. That's why I'm trying to get clarification here. >> Wait, we're >> 20.1 future board topics, >> right? >> So, you're asking to put
on the agenda >> board topics? That's my question. Or are you asking something else that should have been under other arms, the board of trustees? >> No, no, no. I I think there's confusion. Personally, the the whole future war topics and having to vote and get it approved. Like I I think it's a little kind of weird because it it's it's one of those things where it's like, okay, are we going to vote down? If they want to talk about something, uh, we vote it down. And then, you know, the way that Dr. Ross always says it's it's action that it's an action item because they're going to take action on it. What I want is this. So, I'm bringing this up as a topic so that they can take action and and answer my
request in wanting more detailed information so that when I look at a report that's on an agenda review and I'm reviewing the expenses and what we're spending, I know what's on there. So, it's not something that we have to have a topic, you know, a discussion here in open. I just would like to know well when a document's attached and there's large figures and numbers where that money is going how it's being spent. Yeah. So all that's all I >> So I I like how you gave that uh definition or description I should say of future board topic request. So can we agree us five right now that it's open for if we need the superintendent to do a request. It's not just to be on the board agenda. >> Yeah. So we could be
transparent and open about it. >> Yeah. >> 10 areas to look at. >> I know for me most of my topics are usually >> and get to get information not to have a discussion here but just to >> can you add this and then give me a response. That way I know >> and that's why I made the comment earlier and again I'm not trying to go a debate but you have the opportunity being a board member as well to send the emails and that those questions to get answered prior to the board meeting. I I just want to be clear on that. I'm not trying to go back and forth. I'm gonna try and move on. Trust me, Hall. >> Well, but but hold on because I I I I don't think that you
understand that part. Like I I understand I have those options. I get that. But those in order for me to fulfill those options. Sometimes I need information when I can take a look at it. Sometimes the information isn't given to me. So, if it was a set schedule, we knew um every Monday prior to the agenda review, we knew every Monday we were going to have everything that we needed, right, to make that to to look it through, review it, and if you're meeting on Wednesdays, um that would give me Monday, Tuesday, and then possibly Wednesday to then review it and then communicate with the superintendent. But you also have the opportunity after the board agenda is posted correct to send emails. I I'm not I I don't want it back and forth because it
just seems like it's being dragged out. I'm just saying we have opportunity we have opportunity. I don't there's no misunderst that's where you so we obviously agree to disagree >> and that's so to me it's just a little clarification. I'm just saying there's opportunity all the way around where board members were elected to reach out to the superintendent. >> Let's see. >> Thank you. >> I give aiz process. So this process isn't isn't really a fair one because we're not you're not allowing a discussion. I'm just telling you that >> we're not here for discussions. We're talking about board. >> But that's the topic. The topic is the issue at hand. The issue at hand you're you're asking us to do something and you're saying we have opportunities. What I'm saying is the reality is
we got the agenda review on Thursday, which was the day you met, and then you expected us to email, review everything, and have everything done, and then it's posted on Friday afternoon. That's almost an impossibility. And I I just don't know how anybody can review all that information. >> I think to be fair, to be fair, that information was given to you the same time I had access to it. >> It It didn't post. Well, when I post on there, >> it's not going to post >> it. It it it is >> you'll have access to prior on the computer. >> You log in and I But what I'm saying is we didn't have access to that information till I want to say the day that you had the agenda in mind. >> Okay. >>
And then we'll we'll address that again because I'm under the impression that we all get it about two days prior to >> and and they're trying they're trying to >> Yes. But it but it didn't happen. I appreciate that. Thank you. Trusty Hall, do you have any topic board topic requests? >> Trusty Hoff, >> No. Thank you, sir. Trusty Stafford, >> what is the question? >> Board topic requests. >> Nothing. >> Thank you. Trusty and I >> um >> I do I just I would um with the new school year starting um I don't know how to phrase this. I would like feedback from teachers on um possibly how can parents be better involved in um communicating with each other. Uh I know with my daughter in in high school and my kids like that
I had to ask for the communication and then when I asked for it they were almost like happy that I asked for it. And I I would like I know I know a lot of parents I mean there's maybe parents that don't care or that that are don't have the time or um but I know there is parents out there that do and I just would like to open the dialogue of I want the teacher side basically. I want I want your side of what goes on in the classroom. What can parents do from home to try to work in partnership with parents and teachers? But I would love to have um feedback I guess from teachers on what we can slowly start implementing um and then just keep progressing with that. That's it. >>
Thank you. And then for myself, I do um actually u I'm going to word it like this. I want to make a motion. I'd like to add an item for discussion and a report for the next board meeting to bring a proposal and implementation implementation plan which includes starting the negotiation process with our labor partners to move forward with metal detectors for the district and purchasing. >> Do I have a motion? >> Second. >> Thank you, Trusty Stafford. Thank you, Trusty Annayia. And any more discussion? >> There's a discussion on it. >> Yeah. After the first and second, >> what kind of metal detector? What are you talking about? >> Well, we had a I guess you call it the exhibition >> of the of the two companies. I I >> I'm sorry, >> the
Chas >> and and we had Evolve as well. >> I I say go with the the less costly one, Cha, I believe it was, and just order it and go with the recommendation of uh Mr. Hannon. So we get this implemented. This is we've too much time keeps going on when bringing these topics up. We had a demonstration and too many things are happening. I know in my district we had the weapon threat two times in two weeks and too much time is going by and we have to show the community we're really about safety. We have to follow through and I just think everything's being delayed. Well, I don't want to say everything, but I take that. quite a few things are being delayed and safety is not something we take our time on.
>> Edward, because we're we're just about through with the school year and we have some training coming up u for security. Do you think we should wait till after the training? >> Well, >> this is just a discussion. I know. >> Uh I know. Yeah, you're right. It's just discussion, but if we do the negotiation, they could get that training. >> Well, I'm concerned >> because if they don't get the training, they can't go into it. >> We're going backwards, not forwards. that there's probably something out there that we haven't seen yet and metal detectors are about as ancient as anything. So, we should look at the other products. Um, I think >> we discussed, >> you know, I was talking about the how they're using drones in Texas. Well, their sk tools are huge,
but they they got drones and they've got a a station. when they have a fight, this the drones leave the station and go to the fight and get there before anybody gets there. >> I I I agree. That's I like that technical. >> So, you never know. >> Um >> I I made I made a motion. >> Okay. >> And I'm just trying to stay with the agenda. >> So, it comes down to the vote. If you want to have more discussion about this topic, we can. But if you want to talk about that, actually, we have the opportunity. Okay. So, >> but I'm not against drones. I'm not against other options. >> Well, you kind of like just said, well, let's go with the cheapest one. >> That's my suggestion. But, but you also
have the right to say yes or no. Right. >> Right. And that's what I'm You're already in a position going, you want to get this one already? >> Would you like me to elaborate on the why? >> What are we voting on? To talk about it again, put it on the agenda to figure out what we're going to do or >> put Well, first for them to negotiate with the unions, right? Negotiate with them on the the usage of it. But if we're going to be specific about Cha being the cost efficient, they're the latest in the market. They're the most modernized version of technology. And I actually use their product where I work and it is very effective. Very effective. >> Did you have two uh >> I don't use a tow. I use
a handheld. >> Okay. >> And and Parisian has that product here, >> right? >> So I'm aware that we purchased the wands. Um, I guess and and I understand what you're saying about the speed of business. Um, but in my opinion, I'm not sure we've gotten all the information that we need. I know that was a survey. um the the cost analysis, you know, and in speaking to some administrators, not just here at at Paris Union, but other um I I think we need to figure out like how many I think that discussion has to be had um to kind of see what it is and financially what position we're in because I think originally when the conversation was made, it was to have, you know, two two at each site and and then the
the cost to use all that was like 400,000. per year, right? >> It was more units and cost more, >> but we don't have we don't have to we don't have to get that many. >> Yeah. Depending on the I'm not I haven't said a dollar amount or how many units specifically, but obviously we go to John Hannon who oversees the sites. I'm suggesting that that specific brand because I understand what they're offering and bringing to the table when it comes to innovation and deterren, right? weapons and actual violence being a threat and actually happening in today's time. I'm not I'm not trying to blow it out of proportion. I work in the field just like you're a teacher. I don't I don't challenge what you say. I consider you as an expert. We've heard
from the experts. We heard from the vendors and we know this is the latest and greatest. >> What did the survey say from the parents to the parents? >> Uh do you know about the survey? >> I never got heard about the survey. I read it. You know, to me, >> agree. >> To me, it seems like um I would agree if we were to choose a system, it would be Cha. Um believe it or not, that when when they had the attacker that the that's had that link Trump thing, those when he ran through those were actually ch they're actually breaking them down. When you go through SeaWorld, they have it. Airports, they all have them. I mean, that I have no doubt is the better system. I think what we need to figure
out is how are we going to use them? Because with with some and I've spoken with some law enforcement, it's like their thought is like, well, if a kid's going to get a gun, if they really want to get a gun and they're going to figure it out and they're going to know not to go through the front thing, they can throw it over the fence, throw it in the back, throw in the backpack, throw over the bush, scale the fence, you know, walk in later and get it. And so, uh, so I I completely get it. I just don't know if we have all the information to determine um how many. Now I have heard concerns with um um a lot of administrators would like them for uh when we have football games because
now we're bringing in a different community outside people. So getting them through football games understood you know that that's one of those things where they can set up easily. We can take a look at all that um you know dances all these other different things which I think are are one of the things that we should do. I just don't know if we have all the the detail as to how much how many we want, how many everybody's comfortable with. Um the the cost I know for me the biggest deterrent last time was the actual personnel that you need to get everybody through the front door. >> Can I correct that? That's Evolve who made that statement. That wasn't J. I I wasn't I wasn't I wasn't talking about >> which the towers or the
handhelds right now. I'm talking about the wands. And if we do purchase, if we do purchase, I am in support of the towers. I do this every day. I've been doing it for 27 years. We can expedite it and bring massive amounts of people through. You've been through airports. You could go slow. You could go faster. You could adjust the levels of sensitivity. We've all heard the same demonstration. I I'm not I'm not contesting that. And I know what you're saying about levels of expertise. But >> let me let me be a little more uh >> confused now what you're what you want to purchase because you just mentioned wands and >> we have wands but I'm first of I'm talking about the negotiations but you guys brought up the tariffs >> right? No no
no and that's what I'm saying because so now I guess the conversation's all over the place because I I don't know whether you're asking for wands if it's just a negotiation part. I understand obviously the negotiation part has to go through and then we have to determine financially what we can afford what we can do because the numbers I was talking about was when we were talking about the personnel that it would take to get using the CHA system to get people or we needed you know two people watching one off to the side that expense I want to say was at $500,000 a year if I if I'm not mistaken enough ballparking I don't know but that was I think our staff saying what it would cost our staff >> on top of the
initial cost and other. >> Yeah. So, usually how it works is you have a couple of bodies, you know, oversee people coming in at entrance. Anyway, let's use a football game as standard. When we go visit, we go through the process. We go through the gate and you have campus supervisors, you have administration or whoever is at the gate to oversee who's coming in. Now, I know and we've had these conversations about uh advancing in modern modern times with security and different layers. That would be another additional layer because >> you have a couple of people there. Yeah, you have a couple people who man it oversee do a quick visual in the metal detectors. Then you have people in the rear >> usually. Now I haven't I haven't over an analyzed in detail. I
wish Mr. Han were here to explain who stands behind. Sometimes they're playing clothes, sometimes they're not. Sometimes they're deputies. It just depends where you're at, what site and the culture. But wherever the threat is, that's where you have metal detectors. I'm okay, if we're talking about towers, I'm okay with having one set of towers right now at every campus to trial. However you want to do it, I I'm okay with all that. I'm just trying to keep the motion simple to get the ball rolling. >> Really quick, we're discussing details of the item that I believe you're proposing to bring next week. And then second, uh Dr. Williams is talking about we still have to go through the procurement process. and our our bid limit is 119,900. So, we want to make sure that we're
protecting the board and the district in the process um to make sure we get what we need, but making sure that we're doing it the right way because, you know, anyone listening to this board meeting is hearing, you know, names of companies and things of that sort. So, we just want to make sure that we take it through the proper process. >> So, so I have made a motion in the past and now that you said I didn't know. Yeah, Carmen came up the last time we had this conversation to say that as well. >> I I I made a motion in close session with Dr. Arouse >> for 110,000. That's I didn't even know that though. >> Yeah. And u So if I heard you can repeat the motion, but I think I heard
a one proposal brought forward, not the actual >> actually. Yeah, you're correct. >> Fine. Right. >> Yep. >> Yeah. I wrote again. Uh I want to add an item for discussion and report for the next board meeting to bring the a proposal and implementation plan which includes starting the negotiation process with our LER partners to move forward with metal detectors for the district and purchasing. >> Okay. So is it is it metal detectors or is it wands? Because have we determined whether we're doing three? >> I have I have metal detectors right here. So I'm going to go with metal detectors because we have the ones in existence either. Didn't you guys negotiate the ones already? >> Yeah. So then metal detectors. So, do we have ones at every entry point? >> Yes. >> Okay.
And that's So, that's I didn't I knew we bought ones. I didn't know what what the Okay. So, >> was it Can you forward me the survey? I missed it somehow. >> Yeah, I'll forward the survey again. And then um just to the motion. So it's a proposal which means security would bring a proposal based on the recommendation that we heard at the other meeting and then we will work with business to go through the security process if the board decides to move forward if I heard it correct. >> Yes. >> Okay. Any more discussion? All right. Thank you for keeping us in mind. Okay. Please vote. Oh, wait. Yeah. 20.1. Okay, right. Yes, please vote. 21 20.1 passes 50 and then uh 20.2 adjournment of the regular meeting of the board of trustees for
May 13, 2026. Do I have a motion? So move. >> Thank you, Trusty Stafford. Is there a second? Yep. Trusty Hall is a yes or second. All right. Any discussion? >> See none. Please vote. >> The last vote. >> No, we got more. Okay. >> 20.2 passes 50 and we are journ at 8:12.
