001Hello and happy new year WCCCUSD students, staff, and families. I hope you had a restful and meaningful winter break and were able to create new memories and spend time with the people who matter most in your lives. As we begin this new year together, I want to thank you for your patience, your resilience, and your continued commitment to our students and school communities. Now that we have returned and reconnected, it's time to reimagine and redesign what WCCUSD truly means to all of us. First, reimagine. We are reimagining what is possible for our students by elevating student voice, expanding opportunities for our students even during times of fiscal challenges. And second, redesign. We are redesigning our organizational structures and plan so that we move forward stronger, more unified, and more focused on our mission than ever

002before. This means restoring trust, improving communication, and continuing to work collaboratively even when challenges arise. I also want to share a brief update on the next steps related to the tenative agreements with our employee groups. Earlier today, our board of education adopted a resolution agreeing to meet the financial requirements of our existing deficit along with the anticipated costs of the tenative agreements that were ratified by our employee groups in December. Our financial deficit has been assessed at well over hund00 million over the next 3 years. We are now working to submit the collective bargaining disclosure form or AB1200 to the county office of education. This is part of the process where the county office of education analyzes and evaluates whether our district will be able to meet our financial obligations and remain fiscally solvent in

003the current and following two fiscal years. Once that has been approved, the board can agendaize the tenative agreements for ratification. As we continue this work with transparency and connection, we will host two community meetings next week to share updates on the district's ratification process and create space for feedback. Meetings will be held in person and virtually from 6:00 until 7:00 on Wednesday, January 14th at Penol Middle School and Thursday, January 15th at Cororamatsu Middle School. I encourage everyone to join us. Our shared responsibility is clear to keep students at the center of every decision we make and to keep you informed along the way. I appreciate the care, compassion, and professionalism our students experience every day at school. Together, we will continue strengthening our schools and our community. We are one West Contraosta. I wish

004everyone a strong and positive start to this new year. Thank you. Heat. Heat. [music]
