uh I'll just let's go through the list Jason do you have an update today just one slight one just one second you'll be sliding so yeah just good news on um on item 12.1 the nutrition contract uh cdb did send us their approval on that pending your approval we have S sign copy Jason I know you can give us that update I you good evening everyone um I just wanted to share that I um you I forget the the meeting in which you um approved it but there was anou approved with a backy Association in the district for to form a special education committee and uh we're going to have our first meeting next Thursday it's an all day meeting uh the purpose of the committee is to read my notes here um to provide
input on trainings and professional development discuss concerns related to the special education program and share information between school sites and District administrators and to collaboratively address uh problems related to Staffing program implementation and student supports that was with the written for so I just wanted to inform you of that thank you kind of already did your update yeah all right U just a just a couple updates for me today one I just want to um today we recognized uh Dr Harbeck for retirement she wasn't here today unfortunately she's going to be here today um I am I have words for that I'm going to say that for a time when she is here so she has to sit and listen to um the extent of it and I like to talk sometimes so she's going
to have to actually listen and stand up and be on on stage or whatever so I'll say that um I did want to say I had an opportunity you know about a month ago and I wanted to point this out at a previous meeting um our grounds crew was at Aviation uh Carlos Anthony um and Pedro and I know Anthony was recognized today uh for service here for longevity and you know one thing that struck me was the number of cars that passed by and honked and waved or or pulled over and just and just that interaction with um the community is um you know something that I don't think you see everywhere and just that that connection to the community that that ability you know people know know them they know the guys that
are that are really keeping the the schools up and um when I heard his name today I just wanted to point out that something that I noticed when I when I was with him I just want to thank them for um their service and and for for being that sort of I mean they're out on the front lines you know every day for for the district and and so forth so any we want to share that um also want to talk a little bit about some Grant right we are looking at and I think I shared this at a previous meeting but we're looking at some grant writing opportunities um a consultant of sorts really to try we want that person to make more money than what it cost us to pay that person to
do this right I mean that's the goal so we'll monitor that of course but um one of the one of the um options that we have coming up it's has a due date in end of June or early July is a cops um cops Grant men for school safety and this could help on multiple levels a obviously helps safety we're in second piece and I think really important is that we're going to do this in collaboration with d Vinci had a chance to talk with vente today as well and um it could actually support some of our bond projects so it actually extends those Bond dollars a little bit you know as it relates to cameras and and access control and so forth so we could actually offset some of our bond dollars and and
do this work um so I think that's going to be interesting it be something we'll bring to the board over the next few um next few meetings I'm going to talk to Eric about that tomorrow she'll help us support you know help support that as well um also want to thank Christina's here um for the work on the summer programming for those of you that have received messages from us from the district from Da Vinci on social media um to run a sports or any type of summer program is is quite an Endeavor and um you know I don't think that she knew what she was signing up for what she signed up for but um here we have it so we we uh and I think we're we're excited we're going to hear a
little bit more of an update I won't do it justice but we'll get more of an update next week at the Joint board meeting um on Tuesday so so look forward to to kind of getting that update and having you all be able to hear more of an update there too which leads me to the Joint board meeting was was another piece which really excited that we're finally you know able to to have this meeting um able to share some of the um some of the good things that are going on I'd say my hat's off to Matt um we've had a good opportunity to to share and to start doing some planning as I shared with the with the board before looking at this profiles of a learner really wanting to connect Pathways you
know it's it's it's if you start looking at what's Mission critical is having our students in elementary and middle school really seeing what that pathway is into the high school um high school and Beyond and I think this work is really going to be really going to be uh important to our students it's going to be important to high school students as well as to our students in in Middle School school so looking forward to that as well and um I also want to close by just thanking our entire staff um thanking those are congratulating those who celebrated their longevity today um celebrate those who were nominated as the as the certificated and classified employees of the year um this is kind of one of the most fun meetings of the year it really is
one of the most uplifting meetings and I would share that the staff recognition day I think we talked about a little bit the last we just had a meeting a week ago so you know some of this was said but really a nice a nice positive event positive vibe um and rightfully so to honor those people so you know those folks that we that we're celebrating um I see Alisa in the back too thank you for everything you do m is our csca president um and uh it's a busy job and and thank you for what you do for the district as well as as what you do for the association that's all I have tonight thank you right Wendy any public comments on agenda items this no all right moving on consent items do
I have a motion for 9.1 so second second any comments or questions all in favor I item is General items just 10.1 move 101 gr ca's chapter agreement have a second second any comments or questions just a thank you to Lisa thank you to Nisha the teams working you yes thank you um all in favor I I um we will now mve to 11.11 facilities oh we have sh 102 and three we mov it up so um do have a motion on item 11.1 this is the award of of bid for the TK conversion project at Del air Elementary School there a motion so moved thank you Rebecca second thank you Michelle any comments or questions just a question for I just making sure we're within budget I always question under budget thank you don't
hear that very that's a great response that's what we want every time all in favor item 12 yeah is that going to be put in the it will be documentation in the future I would have to ask you it thank you it will be going forward unfortunately when we asked last week this already so we'll take care of it no worri thank you um next is fiscal item 12.1 the one Jason just mentioned I do have a motion so move second second Roger all in favor oh I'm sorry any comments or questions before all in favor thank you um 12.2 this is approv agreement with Al Management Services for the 24 25 school year do I have a motion motion comment okay thank you Roger Rea you have comment yeah I just want to make
note because Wy gets these texts for me like a lot that there are often crafting guards missing at one or more sites in the morning I know Jason hears from me all the time so I know that they're the only gain in town but I feel like I be in US voting on a new contract to not mention the fact that it is a problem for me that almost at least once or twice a week a week not month a week there is one or more crossing guards missing from this contract and they and they're there they're missing not just for like the morning or the afternoon all day so um so I don't know what we can do about that I don't know how we can you know address that but it is increasingly
dangerous for our kids with people on ebikes and the scooters and not wearing helmets and all of the things and so I just like I said feel like I'd be remiss not to at least mention um the problems that I've seen um with the with the crossing guards and I I have to say that the county guards are missing far less than the ones under this contract at least the ones that I see I see the I see the county one at 135th in lasena um on a daily basis because that's my commute um and then I see all of the ones that are within this uh thing and at least one of them is missing at least a couple times a week umk thank you and we appreciate you bringing it up and I
will take that feedback to this contractor as well um throughout this year there's been some turnover among their leadership and you do use the right words when you say the only game in town I've actually had discussions with the local cbos around here because other people have shared some sentiment the same sentiment um about um challenges with the crossing guard company um I think moving forward though uh you know we have good communication lines of communication with them um I do have clear contacts when we find out um we you know it's 5050 we get someone there in the PM you know but it's hard because they had that turnover and I think that's what happened mainly um so I will bring the feedback to them and I'll you know really direct them to mitigate
it the other side of that as far as monitoring um the cost is reflected this contract a contract is an estimate and we are monitoring that lece too when they don't show we don't pay so but we will continue to uh support this and make sure it's getting better thank you I will continue to text you I know this item 12.1 Michael's here I don't know if you wanted tecknowledge yes I do actually I mean you know Chartwells has been a great partner we went through the bidding process um they put a great bid in um they they won the contract and we're just excited to continue our our our partnership with them it's it's been a good one um you know the Our Food Service workers benefit from Michael's leadership um he's done nothing
