comparison to that um Middle School I'd like to recognize Regan Brooks and Thomas Marciano thank you the first two children practice yeah this is for you if you walk around here would like to say thank you on the inside thank you thank you congratulations all right nice job right and with the Memorial Middle School we have leadership all right high school we have Northampton congratulations thank you from Litchfield County we have Eliana or Mary thank you advice thank you congratulations the cave leadership awards I'll ask Miss Panzer to come forward you all right um so AIDS is a Medicaid Association of Board of Education and they have a special um leadership award to provide students and the principals are asked to pick students uh two students from each school that exhibit uh the leadership smallest

qualities that came uh appreciate and have such things such as willingness to take on the challenges capability to make difficult decisions concern for others ability to work with others willingness to commit on a project diplomacy ability to understand issues clearly and ability to honor a commitment so we are very proud of the agent 15 students that have been chosen for the key leadership award um high school we have um Samantha salemi who won the award but she's unable to be here um and we have Daniel Mordor from Rochambeau Middle School we have Ava Fleming and Isabel weiner and from Memorial Middle School we have Emily Lane and Nathan Cooney congratulations to you congratulations for scholar athletes Mr Pulaski's actually had an athletic event so just kidding that's appropriate myself and doctors in the high school

I'm going to talk about scholar athletes so scholar athletes for Connecticut um these are students who sell both in the classroom and on whatever contest they participate in there are two students chosen for every High School it is in my opinion the top award that an athlete can receive because it shows that they are excelling both academically and within the context of their sport so this year we're excited to celebrate uh first Claudia Schneider thank you congratulations so second is the Southwest Conference this is our conference that we participate in um we nominate two leaders uh for our Athletics program they're also recognized at a banquet as they get closer to the end of the year we're very excited to celebrate them and then this pregnant will come up and celebrate our unified Arts our

just need a spectacular so you guys are welcome to stay for our meetings oh yeah all right so we will move on to our presentation on welcoming in all groups of schools led by Dr Karen giapata so good evening and thank you for the opportunity to share a brief overview of the work that the region 15 in communities do to ensure welcoming inclusive schools Steve thanks for presentation um we'll talk a little bit about what welcoming inclusive means um we'll do a brief overview what the region has been doing and give a brief update of what the region has been doing in partnership with the Middlebury and Southbury equity and inclusion Council next slide please Gary one second thank you have you talk louder okay um so just to talk a little bit about what

you mean when we mentioned welcoming you inclusive you mean a classroom climate that refers to an environment where all students feel supported intellectually and academically and it's our responsibility as Educators to do everything that we can to Foster environments that ensure Equity diversity and inclusion next slide please here are a few examples of what region 15 staff do each and every day to make sure that students feel welcomed and included um we aced the name game and that means making sure that we say students names correctly because that actually reinforces acceptance and respect by saying a name incorrectly that can lead to feelings of alienation um I know that because of my last name that people have a difficult time pronouncing um another thing that we do is to make sure that our classroom is

a soft place to land after the stress of the last few years students may feel as though they're behind academically or or feel awkward among their peers and so we let students know that it's okay to make a mistake once in a while we think of our classrooms as communities and develop relationships with our students you may find many teachers do a getting to know you activity either at the beginning of the school year the beginning of the term and find ways to make connections with each of our students we also provide tasks and activities that where there are multiple entry points or multiple ways to solve a problem you've heard a lot about differentiation and Scaffolding um we provide um activities where students can do teamwork and they collaborate with peers here's a list

of some of the events that occur in our schools to help support our welcoming and inclusive environments advisories are small groups of students that meet with an adult in the school over the course over the course of a school year these groups of students could be from the same grade level in some cases and in other cases they could be from a variety of grade levels all in one advisory advisory is a way for students to build relationships with one another but also build relationships with another adult in the building all schools in the region have some version of an advisory that ranges from cricket crew like at MES to Dylan's wings of change at Memorial where groups of students actually meet with faculty advisors and plan act and plan activities with their advisors for

the schools all the way to a high school advisory which I'll share an example um with you in a few minutes the high school recently had a pep rally which this is a picture from and so pep rallies in other schools actually have celebrations such as the star student monthly assembly at PES and the leopards Pride assemblysa Ellen yes we also have developmental guidance lessons and these are for students in grades K through 12 and they focus on topics such as accepting the differences in yourself and others building an understanding and helping relationships with others and understanding positive decision making and making achievable goals schools also have cultural assemblies and I'll share a few examples of those in a second there are also student student clubs and Affinity groups in our middle and high schools

that have been started by or because of our students for a list of those you can actually go back and look at last May's presentations at the beginning of August uh the rise organization worked with our high school student athletes and coaches and again for an in-depth description of what that is we uh you can go back to last May's presentation we'll next share a few examples of some activities on this list in the next few slides here are from an advisory activity at the high school level Mr Jennings said that on May 18th PHS held their first annual reality check for freshman students after an advisory lesson where students were asked to brainstorm all the factors that influence them influence a monthly budget freshly were given the opportunity to see a monthly budget play

out in real life they were assigned an entry-level employment opportunity they were asked to deduct taxes housing Transportation utilities and other monthly expenses as they tried to navigate through one month of time on a budgeted income seniors from their personal finance courses helped run each booth and were very helpful as they engaged in conversation with our freshmen as well as help them navigate through questions that they had about different options in each situation we talk about how field trips can help support welcoming inclusive schools this fall Memorial Middle School went to Nature's Classroom the purpose of Nature's Classroom is to bring students who attend different elementary schools together beginning at the beginning of their sixth grade year for five days in the woods to create one unified sixth grade class students work together to create

a sense of community and learn what it means to be an individual responsible to the greater good students experience this experience this through team building activities in nature and lessons on what it means to be a community they learn how to have more self-resilience and become resilient here's a short video about their experiences foreign schools this year the elementary schools completed an application to obtain these beautiful photos of students from around the world from the Deseret Art Foundation and they were awarded with these pictures these are a sample of the amazing photographs that are poster sized oops let me go back one these photographs and the foundation said that this the art and school project aims to display beautiful and thought-provoking photos of children nature and art and that the aim is to quote stir

the viewer's conscience to the awareness that despite our superficial differences in race gender and religion we are all the same they go on to say that the randomness of being born in a different location and under different circumstances does not change our similar basic human needs we all require clean air water food shelter and love they end with a harmonious balance and prosperous Society will banish our differences the foundations of desires for all viewers especially the students to reflect upon the photos in hopes that they will be able to promote sympathy and compassion children you are the future custodians of this Earth unquote the activities that our staff have put together around the viewing of these pictures were shared with the foundation and the foundation was so impressed that they asked if they could share

the region 15 activities with others around the country next slide please as you may know May 21st is the U.N world day for culture of diversity and dialogue and development region 15 started celebrating that a few years ago before coven this year elementary schools celebrated this day to recognize acknowledge and honor the various cultures represented in our school and around the world here pictured here are students learning about food about dress about dancing from other cultures from our teachers our students including VHS students our region 15 staff and parents in our communities there were more than three dozen presentations representing countries around the world such as Brazil Jamaica Poland Greece Scotland France Argentina India Albania and Italy students also viewed the pictures from the Art Foundation and participated in activities where they wrote down the

similarities and differences they had with these children in the pictures they wrote about ways they could connect with these children as human beings and what they would like to ask say or do with these children if they had the chance while we know that no one day will help everybody completely understand and honor other cultures but this date complements and is part of the work that we do all year next slide please so we just want to quickly highlight some um some professional development this year so here are just some of the professional learning opportunities that our staff have participated in this year that support welcoming inclusive schools these included opportunities prepare Professionals for teachers for administrators and the coaches of our high school sports teams this also included purposeful planning where teachers looked at

data and planned accordingly based on the students in their class something that also supports welcoming and inclusive schools and we also wanted to share with you the professional learning that our staff provided to others outside the district this is a list of the conferences that some of our staff have presented at this year well our staff is doing work within region 15. they've also been asked to support the state Department's statement on equity in math education by providing examples of what the region is doing regarding access and self-efficacy in mathematics we next one is a highlight parts of the curriculum academics and instructional work that we've been doing in the region so our ongoing work continues to have a curriculum that ensures that we have Windows mirrors and sliding glass doors for students while this

slide explains what those are more information is available in last year's May presentation those of us who have participated in the aasa equity cohort shared this slide in our final presentation that we had to do for the group the feedback from the other districts from different parts of the country was that they really liked this slide and how it showed the years of implementation of new courses and so we thought that we would show this tonight to highlight the courses that we have added over the years to help students better understand the world they live in we wanted to also share an example of the high school curriculum and academics this past Friday was the first time since before covid that the high school was able to have their Summit AT Quinnipiac University this is

a culminating activity for the human rights the conversations on race and the African-American black and Puerto Rican Latino classes at the high school students from the following schools participated students from PHS Platte High School and Meriden the New Haven Academy in Ansonia it all had the opportunity to learn and interact with Professionals in Connecticut on the fields of Human Rights diversity equity and inclusion but also learned from one another we wanted to share an example of a middle school unit that supports the work of understanding similarities and differences in people this grade 8 Ela unit called Power perspective and positioning is one of those and while the objectives are listed on the slide other objectives include learning the Common Core State Standards such as how to analyze particular lines in dialogue which are real aspects

of a character and how to analyze differences in the points of view of characters and we also wanted to share an example from our youngest Learners our Pre-K students our preschool staff read this book together and implemented their learning within Pre-K lessons and social opportunities we also wanted to show you a short video of the Pre-K students work and then what they said after doing these lessons foreign what the lessons were so students read or read books about um skin color About Hair About Eyes they also then looked at different color paints to see which one matched their skin color they took Butcher Block paper and outlined themselves on the Butcher Block paper and then made a self-portrait and so you'll see them looking at in the mirror at themselves and trying to figure out

what to how to draw their hair how to draw their eyes how to draw their face and so after all these were done they were hung on the lockers and pictures were taken with them standing next to their pictures and they actually do look like your pictures so they're pretty good artists for pre-day foreign and so um as you sort of say many times in many different presentations the schools cannot do this work alone and so it's very important that the community involved we wanted to just give you a brief update on the Middlebury and Southbury Equity inclusion Council work this year so the council agreed to keep the 10 subcommittees that they voted on last year and so the members of the equity and inclusion Council are working on these subcommittees for more explanation

about these committees you can look at last May's presentation last year next slide please last year the council put out a survey to the community these were the six uh top answers when they were asked the question what topics do you think would be the most beneficial for our local community the council is looking for presenters on these topics for next year the year uh this year the council also started to plan some future events um here are some of those the council is hoping to collaborate with the Southbury task force on some of these events in the near future as you may remember uh Cosmic had their inaugural year in the 2019-2020 school year but did not get to do their performance because of covid well Cosmic is back um they've been rehearsing on

Tuesdays and they will be performing soon in the near future and so this year one of the council's goals was to develop a one-pager to share with the community a subcommittee of council members produced the one pager which is shown on the left and it was shared at the Southbury Art in the Park event on May 6th where the eni council had a table providing face painting to people of all ages the council also shared information about Community Resources at this event and so while I was trying to figure out how to end this presentation tonight I figured that the staff of GES um would do a way better job than I would and so we wanted to share this video with you foreign thank you so much I think Mr y has a career

Bruce Springsteen impersonator oh those are all real voices you know Hardy took us to get the pitch just right yeah we were there next time I got to hold the phone so he could see the lyrics yes sure hope and get more people so we can get more people emails that would be sent yeah to get more people yes any other questions thank you very much Dr chipetto for sharing that important work with us thank you um next we have approval of minutes we have a motion if you can make a 2023 regular meeting minutes other subscribers second any questions comments all those a favor um next we have information and proposals for committee reports policy curriculum committee Miss Heather Dwyer I actually have nothing new to the course or something because you so kindly

gave the spot for our volunteer assumption so thank you so much but we'll talk um next financial facilities Miss Shannon Cavallo so we met on May 10th um there are several items we discussed some with her in the packet and then discussed later um so we discussed the tool timeline and just what that would look like right as we go out to proposal and start doing them study rights make sure that you have the least amount of impact as possible on the polls we discuss the technology these doing a building study as just trying to understand like the shape and the state of all of our buildings what needs fix to kind of look at an all-encompassing effort I think we've heard the community loud and clear that capital is really important and that our

buildings are an important asset in this community so we're going to undertake a building study of all of the buildings to understand that there's a bunch and breakfast prices we're going to discuss that on here and then out of town tuition rates because we're also discuss was there no it was there no both of them days it'll come back around as well yeah yeah the study would have started sure of course like correct form again any other questions next we have ETO advisory but I think yeah um next we have the superintendent report superintendent Smith uh short report as we um race towards the end of the year uh I just wanted to thank Dr chipetto for the presentation tonight that we've talked a lot about school security over the last six to eight weeks

um and we're going to continue that conversation people talk about pardoning our schools we've been talking about responses with the work that's happening on all of our schools to make them inclusive to make them welcoming all of those programs that you saw tonight all the work happening in each of the schools um is about building a sense of community there are things within our control there are things without outside of our control we can work in the 13 of a child's life that they spend in our schools they control what happens outside of our school buildings we can control how they treat one another how they feel about one another and how they connect to school how they connect to the adults in those schools all those programs you saw tonight are not just about

helping students feel connected to our schools they're about building a community that cares about each other and that's safety uh it's then looking out for one each other one another it's them talking to each other when they're in crisis it's them talking to one another when they're making bad decisions a lot of what happens happens in great spaces outside of the school day or even Middle School day and social media in locker room chatter and school bus chatter outside the ears of adults and teachers and programs like what you saw tonight are about building a relationship with their kids care about each other and have adults that they trust and so I don't want people to to see things as disconnected items they're all parts of the home so thank you for sharing that with

us for all the work to do that all the work our staff does the work that our administrators do and a reminder that those were all our real voices in that video so um any questions okay um next we have board member comments right next we have comments from citizens Board of Education will recognize citizens of Middlebury in Southbury and citizens are asked to State their name their town of residence and to limit their comments to three minutes in accordance with region 15. yep that's it in accordance with region 15 Board of Education bylaw 9325a speakers are asked to express themselves in a civil manner with due respect for the dignity and privacy of others who may be affected by their comments while it is not the board's intent to stifle public comment speaker should

be aware that if their statements violate the rights of others under the law of detonation or invasion of privacy the speaker may be held legally responsible yes the microphone is actually up here okay yeah good evening my name is Rachel Meyer and I'm a resident of Salisbury opportunity to spend three minutes with you I'd like to talk about the events at Memorial Middle School over the last few weeks and to look back what lessons have we learned in the past 10 years since they're tragic events at San Diego a neighboring new town let's take a look at the past four weeks in reaching the finishing on March 24th an unspent bullet was found at Memorial Middle School however an important opportunity is best to identify the student throughout the store to come to school that

day no explanation was given as to why only always were scanned the mention of an ongoing investigation to follow integrated students and staff perhaps even a scan of relevant social media they'll increase security measures were announced at the time three weeks later we learned that a student did in fact what we get done to Memorial on March 24th an opportunity was missed to take responsibility for the failure to quickly identify or remove the student who brought their gun to school the only thing we were told was that the evidence did not allow for random search again no additional information to this day we don't know was was the student expel were there multiple participants including adults what was being done at the time to keep our students and staff safe finally four weeks after their

vote was found the announcement that a student was arrested of course no additional information rather a defensive response about the Fourth Amendment the Supreme Court has been very clear about the difference between General criminal cases that require probable cause and standards of school officials was adhered to with inducting the search of students boards are not required probable cause of that requirement instead its Reasonable Suspicion each day and age of drugs and guns in school the Supreme Court if School administrator is an important tool we are blessed and fortunate that nobody was hurt or killed that doesn't excuse how these events played out and what actions we've been 15 and Middlebury police should have taken the responses events at all that should have been better the communication is an exit folded should be better leadership and

accountability should have been better we must do better to not have a repeat of San Diego in region 15. thank you very much interesting good evening members of the board members of the community my name is Hilda Lavin I am a resident of Southbury and I have a son who representative I chose to attend and speak tonight um against my fear of public speaking um concerning the recent events that have unfolded in Memorial Middle School um delineated in mms's student parent handbook is the following Memorial is a safe place and we expect it to stay that way the very Act of a student bringing the bullet and a gun onto the premises of school grounds immediately makes school not a safe place to be Mr Smith you might recall our several weavings regarding safety while

my son was enrolled in a reassuring takeaway from for me from our conversations was your message to me that you always want to return our children to us it's not in the same state they were in when we brought them to school that day in a better state in my situation at the time there was no accountability and my choice to just enroll my son was the only way to protect my child another excerpt from the handbook any action that endangers a student or other students is not acceptable here the lack of communication regarding accountability so that parents as well as our members of the community may feel less uneasy but rather be assured when our students have put on a bus or dropped off at school and are deep protected and Sage is not

acceptable here it was concluded that the student did not have an intended target or intent to harm any individual or the school that is not a reassuring statement I hope that the district abides by the VOE policy 5144 because I would rather have heard that those consequences which are outlined in the handbook for those who violate the rules starts even seriously and have been exercised state law requires that students be suspended or expelled for violating the rule of bringing dangerous items to school making matters worse I feel the district as a whole has failed students families and a community by demonstrating lack of leadership and lack of accountability see something say something means nothing if it is not in alignment with doing something so the question remains what will the district do going forward thank

you very much great thank you um next we have regular business requiring board action I may have a motion for approval of the 2023-2024 tuition rates so that the Board of Education upon recommendation of the finance committee approve the 2023-2024 written rates as presented um yeah um these twitch rates for next year uh we increased them by percentage increase the budget with just 5.95 um you will notice that the um we did hold the Pre-K rates flat those are very issued their parents before we did this piece so next year we'll reassess those rates um we do try to keep that with our technicals program so you sense you have to always have clinical errors and special EDS you don't really raise that rate too far when you use typical numbers have a balancing act

down um we have very few tuition students now Australians I believe maybe one any dates any extensions thank you next week I have a motion for approval for 2023 2024's lunches breakfast titles moved at the Board of Education upon recommendation of the finance committee approved the 2023-2024 lunch and breakfast rates as presented I think you have a second sorry Stephen the second but people just feel like um yeah these are the right decreases for next year um 25 cents um across and the rates and uh 20 cents in the elementary rate uh basically keep up with labor costs and other costs any questions all those in favor um any mace any obsessions fairies next they have a motion for approval of international field trips moved at the Board of Education approved the proposals for one

international travel opportunity for PHS students in the spring of 2024 as presented for a policy of 6153 field trips I'm um yeah um this is a weekend opportunity for high school students to go practice their French um in Quebec um and while it's a um it's an opportunity for them to actually apply what they've been doing in school because it's really hard to actually be in the environment where you have to um be able to order things or um speak to people or ask directions um very different to do that in person than it is to do that in a classroom and so this is the opportunity for them to experience that over a weekend and so that's uh next April all right any questions or sharing and then John so would more and more

field trips coming up which I think is wonderful um and then here April maybe it doesn't but that's over spring break I just want to be I guess my question is how are you collectively looking at all the trips so that students are necessarily looking in choosing but having the opportunity to potentially attend all again especially for a weekend trip like this any consideration that this could be at a time that doesn't compete with another existing field trip so we're looking for conversion opportunities for foreign language students that are elimination of accessible um and one of the students that might not be able to afford or a stream for Italy um being able to find some smaller loans a video go back for like a three or four days again you want to have thousands

of four types of groups or one or another um annual business so that French students the freshman year of the sophomore junior where's my question just making sure that yeah and this is sort of a specific group of kids from the r in French so like in where the Galapagos is open to whoever wants to do it or if they're being a specific class to be able to go on that trip this is for the students that are in French and so yeah it starts the week before the Friday before our break as you picked it up all this amazing is giving you a longer timeline so that you can see somebody and some of them may be involved in between their cycle so to be able to say as a freshman or whatever in

high school I want to do three trips these are the three and plan accordingly as a person right now the taiwanes are a little impressed there's some that we don't have yet that we want to get out of that I mean look at this just to me seems a little uh you know a thousand dollars to spend you know two days in Quebec um which you know I mean I think you're going to speak any questions um you know I mean boy I used to go 200 miles north um it just seems kind of book expensive vacation but but isn't that I mean they're not asking us to pick up the classes yeah right yeah I think it's a lot more affordable a lot more silence I think it's a good experience for them if

they're in French to be able to go various events they work really hard at the language it'd be nice to give them an opportunity even if it's a short one for them to practice with what they learned I would have loved to do that and I think we're looking at the relatively close that we could draw rather than going to France to be able to do to do that which is way more expensive so is it weird traveling you're a travel company um yes I think they yeah because they're looking at like the hotels and stuff so maybe the travel company with jurors that they're speaking the language because we even ask them to give like some information about the company so it's in your packet it's been around since 2018 we asked if there

were any oh sorry if there were any other school districts that use that company to make sure that we're going to deal with the ones there are so Richard a lovely trip to Quebec City this summer and they used to be primarily French although you can't get by not knowing that's wrench and that's a lovely city and everyone should listen um I will say um unless I'm mistaken this was not included in our packet for this meeting yeah I thought it was yeah I didn't get it in my email it's a secondary email oh was it a second yeah thank you um but I did notice that this is a company that the school hasn't used before um I mean I haven't done any research on this company it sounds like you have not feeling

comfortable having not had a chance to do any research myself that the board approves this and there's a problem with this company like what how much that responsibility is on us forward um guess what do you mean by if I think of a problem with that none of them come back directly authorities yeah this isn't apply by that company that was just created all they use other districts or other school district descriptions then um yeah well so let me friend the question another way um I know that there's a policy but when these are brought to us what are what's being asked of us in this approval process yeah so one of the things that came was just the first couple pages that you had and so we said like who's the company who's used

the company how long have they been around like we need more research to do that and so that's in one of the pages where um veronique the teacher put down like how long the company's been here while she's not done it but other school system is used to talk about insurance so we made um sure that she went back and like gave us more information about it because it was just the first couple pages that you have there about the actual field trip forms and maybe to your point so before kind of the exact timeline but I can find somewhere probably around 2014 or something like that 13 the district got out of the business of bringing inside the court of order don't hold me on the exact year but there's somewhere in that that's

the problem the challenge became these trips still have to they were our students oftentimes our teachers um and it got confusing as to if you use District email but they use this space because it wasn't Affiliated parents were confused as to the contact person was and we got into this place of like we looked like a school activity it felt like a school activity that there was it wasn't fear so we want to make that for her we want students to have experience and we want them we're talking about global citizen we want them to explore the world around them uh we want to provide opportunity and access and we don't want to bring confusion for parents or disability for teachers as far as where they can meet so this makes it clear that this

is school sanction piece um we want to support the spread of the information around access before if you knew somebody or you subscribe to the right Facebook page you might know about the opportunity but it wasn't clear here we can advertise it we can have students engage in fundraising and there's our email system all of that stuff and so that's really why we've got to put that policy in place instead of reading some like Shadow economy for field trips we wanted to be transparent and have it come through here give the opportunity to put it as far as liability this would be a real liability insurance and you know something or not parents have liability insurance they buy it through the company all of that senders supplemental similar to the even though it's a different

company structured very much the same way to go to the cooperatives and this also says 25 million sorry I date myself I did this trip when I was in eighth grade class from and it was very good and we spoke French and it was great and we did it over presidency weekend or whatever but I remember it right and it was a very good trip through this company it might be a good I'm sorry it might be a good opportunity for kids too that might have missed DC during covid to experience a tripling classmates as well and then put Sharon and then Richard I was wondering to what degree um this is Incorporated in the curriculum because I also took a trip to Canada in my 10 more years and uh to practice French um

and one thing I do very much remember is that colloquial is it different than European French and so I'm wondering to what degree is that trip and the differences to expect in the curriculum so part of um the curriculum we've been looking at the last few years is just exactly what you said how whether you take Spanish or French how it is different depending on the country that you're in and so um you'll see on this form under number three um there any student was that culture is one of those five C's that we talk about in our world language program which is about culture and understanding that the culture in Quebec is going to be different than the culture and went to Paris and so that is part of um what we teach in

the curriculum that is really is dependent upon the country that you go to and that there are going to be differences that French isn't French wherever you go with Spanish is in Spanish wherever you go it does depend on the country and the region yes so it is part it's just a logistical question students are fully identical yes okay and we put that note there as a reminder to everybody to us that Richard and then Steve Marion suggests that on this trip we send an administrator along with it to make sure everything is done corrected because as you remember years ago we had a problem in Paris came back with a middle child who was a big investigation by them being right Health authorities and no one know all the students were very little and

find them you remember that when he went to Paris to the region 15.16. you know um I do know that administrators I mean they they do look for staff today I know a lot of it because I was happening in here the office when they were getting information but it did happen and they had to find a student who knew everybody so they could notify it was a health problem yeah foreign and do it and then I find it hard you know I try to hardly we spent a week in Paris in the beginning of the children that were there I don't know I mean when I don't know um but for for these trips and take chaplains they're not all necessarily administrators but they're all of this big staff they're volunteer to go on

the Strip outside it's a little different when we do like the DC trip or a trip that is a it's a pure School sponsor this is school approved but not necessarily School responsible so there this is still a hybrid area um it's not quite the same as something that's built into the curriculum like nature classroom had teachers and administrators there Seekers have teachers and administrators these are trips currently anyway at the high school level like to have a 15th grade trip to equipment that's something that we've been thrilled in was a responsible administrative accompanying this through so it's it would eliminate a lot of problems if anything happened so there's three adults do those adults the teacher dog pounds usually they're teachers um in part because as Mr spiritual mentioned when we talk about carrying

medication for students you can talk about training um like whether you go to senior trips to Six Flags or whether you're going on over uh it's the same form right that you fill out so at the bottom of that form it does say the district is not responsible should this trip be canceled right um so they are going to be signing something that says that um and then uh just the form itself says 51.3 up here and I think with the and then there's a question about insurance um and whether or not if it is added a trip insurance right so again if it's canceled with something that's in the pack but I guess who knows why yeah um and the policy does say if you our parents are sub change for the cancellation and

sure it's that's required for any program outside of the continental United States so I just think that it seems like there was a question about it it seems like required any other questions or discussion all right all those in favor um any names any extensions right to look Aries thank you I'm next way I have a little sense of approval the technology leads in 2023-2027. looks at the Board of Education after the 2023-2027 Technology Loop has prevented outside um sure as part of our budget that was approved by the voters I met early May um inside was this technology lease this lease now the report approval then the federal procurement for leasing rates and then we'll evolve into the early um to begin purchasing primarily Chromebooks and smart quotes excited since a four-year release is
