So when we first heard the news and we got the information, we were trying to figure out what we could do. I got my activities coordinator involved and some of the other teachers. So we planned the cheerleaders in the hallway, the students, and then having Dr. Johnson create a distraction until we could radio them to come up. >> WE ARE PROUD OF YOU. SAY WE ARE PROUD OF YOU. WE are >> I'm very proud to be here to announce that Mr. Zamora is our support employee for all of Arlington public schools. You consistently uphold the highest standards of cleanliness for your school. Your colleagues have written that you are professional. You're humble. You are dedicated and you have leadership in everything that you do. You've been identified by your administrators as always helping them identify
concerns early, providing recommendations to them, and especially things that need repair improvement, making sure that they happen so that all of our students and staff here feel safe, feel welcome, and can come to a clean environment. Let's give him a round of applause for that work. Mr. Z is always like really kind and helpful in the lunchroom and like he's always like straightforward and he gets to the point and he's just a really like nice guy. >> Our school is never dirty because like him and his crew are always like working. >> We as a school and a school community could not be prouder than we are of Mr. Zamora. you know, everything that he does to make sure that our students walk into a safe environment every day, that our staff has their needs
met because the building is always spotless. But I also want to have the rest of his team come up because the captain is only as good as his crew. So, can the rest of his team come up? Williamsburg. >> Thank you for continuing to set the standard for building leadership in W and always putting the W in everything. Congratulations. Mr. I always like to say like to say a few words. >> This would not have happened without the help of all the other custodian here. Okay. >> Yes. You know, normally I don't I don't feel like uh uh uh like comfortable talking especially on camera but uh I don't have any other choice uh because you know I have to say any any words uh for for the give the thank you for the recognizing
me the to be the employee support employee of the year in the entire school system. So I'm so happy and proud of working for APS. >> There's always things that go on behind the scenes of Williamsburg Works. Kids come in, they're ready to learn. That's all they know. There's a teacher in front of them, but what happens in the background really makes a difference. Whether the class is set up properly, the floors are clean, the lunch is ready to go, and there's fast transition. And those people often go unnoticed for the kids, for the teachers in a fast-paced school, but they still work. They still show up. They still give this place the best environment possible for the students to succeed, for the teachers to succeed. And they do that all the time with a
smile. Sometimes they don't get a thank you, sometimes they do, and this is a great opportunity to thank them for everything they do and to give them the shine they often don't get. >> I just want to say that all that I do and custodian do, we do it with uh you know like with happiness and yes to keep our the environment of the school in good uh uh clean cleanness and and uh safety conditions. It's it's so amazing you know what it happened in my life. I'm so happy. >> That's our mascot, William S. Berg. So, every once in a while, he makes an appearance. And if you wanted to interview our mascot, he would probably say, "Mr. Zamora and his team are probably the best team in Arlington Public Schools." And he is
definitely proud of Mr. Zamora. >> Congratulations, Mr. Z.
