And this is She is a great mentor to me, a friend and teammate, and I don't know what I would do without her. >> [music and singing] >> The song Lean on Me is appropriate for everybody within Arlington, and I always say at Jamestown, whenever there's any type of crisis or something somebody needs support, whether it's personally or professionally, this community comes together like no other to support each other. So, we know that we can lean on one another and that in the toughest of times we all rise up together. Ms. McCarthy is principal of the year because she's the best. [music] The way she leads and runs this school,
002she does it from a caring environment. [music] She's loving, her door is always open. Anything you need from her, she's always there. [music] One of the best things about the bond Michelle has with her students is that she is everywhere every day. She's very visible. She's in the classrooms, [music] the community events her students have. She goes above and beyond to build those connections, [music] and not only with the students, but with their families. She's always there at lunch to check in. She's um considerate to other people. Um and she's just amazing. She always checks in on all the classes and helps everyone, and she's just She's really good person. I think she deserves principal of the year because she makes sure um everyone feels accepted and like they belong in the school. She just
003cares about us a lot and really does have our best interests at mind cuz I can just see her coming into the classrooms and like checking on us and making sure that we all have what we need, you know? She cares about everyone in this school and she's really good at um doing the fundraisers and she's really kind. I wouldn't want any other principal. I think it's because she hires really good staff and she trains them really well. She helps pay for the food in the cafeteria. She's amazing cuz I don't think in other schools they don't teach this stuff. She's like the best principal ever. There's no one else I'd rather have as the principal of the year because she's very kind, she's amazing and she does a lot of good stuff for this

I say to our teachers and our staff employees [music] of the year when we give out the awards that we're all teachers and support employees of the year and that [music] the person who is selected really represents Jamestown and that's how I feel about this award that all the principals in this county work so hard every [music] single day and every year there's a representative to um represent Arlington Public Schools. So for this year I'm that person [music] and I'm so honored and privileged to have that.
