One of my first things that I invented Hello Kenmore. I'm so fortunate to be around because I'm here for actually a different reason than this assembly. We choose one teacher in the entire school system to be the teacher of the year. And for 2026, you are Arlington Public Schools Teacher of the Year. >> [cheering] >> So, I got tricked. They are having a SOL pep rally and they didn't even talk to me to be like, "Hey, look, well, how do we want to do this?" I was mixed emotions. I just I was I was blown away, weirded out, all all these types of things, but at the same time, I'm a game player, I'm a team player, and I believe that you know what? We're going to make it happen because it's for the kids.
Same here. Yours should be in this square, correct? He um makes sure to help everyone when they don't want to ask for help. He continues to help and he makes us feel like so like happy. He loves to teach and that's awesome. My favorite thing about Mr. Stewart is that he's such a kind and helpful teacher. He helps all of us. Most teachers will just like tell you what you need to know, but he'll actually take the time to like like understand each student's like like skills. >> Sometimes when people are not like participating or they're very quiet, he can like, you know, he's able to notice them and like help them like participate in the activities we do. If you're struggling on something, he finds a way to like explain it in like the
easiest way possible to you. I joined this class like maybe in the middle of the school year and he was so welcoming and I didn't really understand math but he helped me understand it more like he was so patient with me and then I started to understand it and then my grades started getting better. I do this because I I'm encouraged by them. I do this because it's in my heart. I think teaching is an art. And nowadays when it comes to teaching we have the role as a counselor, informal counselor, entertainer, instructor. I mean we're wearing so many different hats. That's why I love teaching math because I get to show them how everything in the world is all connected and their daily lives is all connected to math. He likes to like teach
us with examples of the real life. He's He doesn't care like if you have good grades or bad grades or how you act. He always believes in you no matter what. Robert Stewart is an amazing teacher. He combines the best of Arlington. He loves working with the kids, he loves math, he puts that together creates a great classroom atmosphere and kids really thrive in his classroom. I'm so proud that he's Arlington's teacher of the year. Teachers here within our Arlington, I think we have the best of the best. We have teachers who go above and beyond. I mean I'm a reflection of what our whole society of teachers look like in in APS. It's more than just teaching, it's more than just curriculum, it's about the whole child. So you're getting more than just an
instructor of curriculum and education, you're getting educators who literally care about the whole child. So with that being said guys, I'm humbled and I appreciate each and every last one. All right, let's hear it for Mr. Stewart and we have some music now. >> [cheering] [cheering]
